Janet Jackson Apologizes for Kamala Harris ‘Confusion’
WHOOPS NOW
“She deeply respects Vice President Kamala Harris and her accomplishments as a Black and Indian woman,” a spokesperson for Jackson said.

Singer Janet Jackson apologized through a representative for claiming Vice President Kamala Harris, who is Black, is “not Black.”
“She’s not Black,” said Jackson, in an interview with The Guardian newspaper published Saturday. “That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian. Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”
Harris, of course, is not half-white and is very much Black. Her father is Donald Harris, a Jamaican-American economist who was the first Black scholar to receive a tenured position at Stanford’s economics department.
Kamala Harris Dismantles Donald Trump’s Attack on Her RaceHIGH ROADJosh Fiallo
Harris, who graduated from leading historically Black university Howard, has frequently spoken about her Black identity in politics. She also once joked, when asked if she’d ever smoked marijuana, “Half my family’s from Jamaica, are you kidding me?”
She is also Indian. Her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan, a medical scientist who worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, was originally from Chennai.

A spokesperson for Jackson told BuzzFeed her comments were “based on misinformation.”
“She deeply respects Vice President Kamala Harris and her accomplishments as a Black and Indian woman,” the spokesperson added. “Janet apologizes for any confusion caused and acknowledges the importance of accurate representation in public discourse. We appreciate the opportunity to address this and will remain committed to promoting unity.”
Jackson’s rep didn’t explain how that information came to her.
Former president Donald Trump—Harris’ opponent in this year’s presidential election—has polluted the public conversation about Harris’ race, making false claims that Harris misled voters about her background
“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now she wants to be known as Black,” Trump told the annual convention of the National Association of Black Journalists in Chicago last month. “I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”
At least Janet Jackson now knows the answer is “both.”

A Night to Remember - 2
She monotonously paced around the room to burn off her restlessness. She repeated the principles of management and profit planning, hoping it’ll ground her.
Her mind and body were far too desperate to know about him. Did he already know she was here? Was he happy or sad to see her? Does he want her back? Should she play hard or fall into his arms?
Maybe she should just avoid him, treat him as a stranger she weakly sighed
Her thoughts raced a mile an hour, punctuated by the loud rainfall outside. The thought of crossing the waterlogged grounds irritated her, but at least she’ll be left alone with her thoughts for now.
This family’s problems are as intricate as their mansion’s décor she chuckled. Their long term CAs- Anirudh & Pazhuvur- were a well known firm run by two senior professionals. They were from nobility themselves and handled elite clients. Though well meaning, they needed some help to untangle their client’s mess given the ever changing business laws.
She found a remote under the newspaper stand faced it towards the small, early 2000s BPL TV. She tsked when it didn’t switch on. Restlessness made her bang the remote on the sofa armrest repeatedly -and voila! The TV worked.
She shifted through the channels….. ethirneechal serial, suryavamsam movie, teleshopping, BBC, live telecast of a temple..no no no she chanted before settling on an Indian news channel.
An immaculately dressed man addressed the eager reporters. “Pandyan corp will venture into buying other heritage properties too”, he said that they’d already eyed a few old forts and palaces to turn into tourist sweetspots.
“Sir, you had already announced such a project 2 years ago, but it failed to take off” clamoured a journo
The official smoothly assured them that this time it will take off, dismissing the previous plan that fell through.
Nandini smirked, thinking of how they lost their most lucrative purchase due to her ‘skills’.
The Pandya’s were the royal clan who lost the most to colonialism. But they persevered, ignored public criticism, cut costs and started a real estate business- unthinkable for a clan of their stature. They’d changed their last remaining fort into a Heritage hotel and entered the luxury real estate market. Other noble clan’s looked down on them then, only to regret their decisions now.
The Chozhas were one of them. They had maintained autonomous rule long enough, so they settled into a complacent lifestyle. Their palatial homes (including their current residence), agricultural lands overseen by locals all seemed grand. Their money was locked up in trust funds and wills, rendering them unable to withdraw funds for their immediate needs. Their business investments were failing and it looked like they had to sell atleast one property.
Pandyas might’ve modernized into a corporate now, but their executive committee’s bitterness remained. They had lost a lot to the Chozhas but couldn’t retaliate when the British slammed them with the ‘Doctrine of Lapse’.
Their core team, on behalf of the young son of their late CEO, was full of “old guards”- people from families who’ve long been faithful servants of the owner’s kingly forefathers.
They were the top players in the luxury segment, their plan to buy heritage properties was just a century old thirst to one up the Chozhas
She’d interned with them as a gangly 23 year old fresh out of uni. The opportunity was great- they were one of the patrons of her college’s scholarship program. Veer pandyan had personally taught her, despite knowing real estate wasn’t her main interest.
The talent scouts at HR had run a background check, the results of which intrigued the big boss.
Born and adopted in Madurai, moved to a suburb of Thanjavur at 10 where her dad worked as a Archagar in temple before moving to Chennai after grade 11.
It was the last fact that caught his eye.
No sane Indian family, no matter their financial woes would shift cities when their child has completed 11th. Something drastic must’ve occurred. It no doubt involved the Chozhas as nothing moved from that estate without their consent.
The pandyan corp executives were nice to her. Really nice, that some of the older employees began envying her- an intern! Veer pandyan had a friendly uncle demeanor as he taught her the practicalities of real estate, investments and predicting markets. But soon his real interest began to show, he tried to pry into her past.
“It’s just odd, you know, you did grade 11 in one city and grade 12 in another “ he innocently asked.
Hoping to tolerate the intrusion for the sake of her job, Nandini replied “ My dad found a better position in Chennai, besides my brother wanted to join the OTA” hoping it sounded rational. She loved using her military intelligence officer bro as an excuse.
He left it for the day, but circled back to it often. “You went to THAT school right? The one where the Chozha kids studied… did you talk to them?”
Nandini cursed herself for being so naïve. She initially presumed he wanted to know about her past genuinely.
The topic was too painful. A sore spot she rarely thought of even in private- afraid of the emotional fallout. No amount of casual dismissal of her acquaintance with them sated her boss.
The heckling of journalists of the suited man snapped her to the present.
She began chuckling madly at the TV, at the slimy man trying to convince the reporters that all was well in paradise. Uncaring of been seen, she wheezed with laughter, knowing all wasn’t well- they had her to thank for that!
The low grumbling of the skies masked her outburst and made her anticipate the next loud thunder. It settled into silence but she wasn’t completely at peace yet. She’d stolen biscuits, borrowed a blanket and used the living room of her former flame.
She looked every bit the confident career woman she was, but his presence threw her off the cool headspace she maintained. And she’d have to leave this place anyway.
A fainted shadow fell on the foyer. “The rain must’ve messed with the porch lights” Nandini dismissed it and continued to change the channels. She chose to watch a Djokovic vs Nadal match to pass time. Engrossed as she was in their rally, she didn’t notice the shadow shift closer to her.
The door lock clicked and forced her to notice. “holy shit please don’t be a murderer” she inwardly thought before deciding to turn.
Her stuff shoulders turned, her eyebrows curled in fear but the sight of the form at the door step made them turn up in anger. “You…you brat!” Nandini bared her teeth as the tormentor of her dreams just smirked

Dr. M. R. Krishnamurthi Iyer first came to Bhagavan in 1924. From a good family of Mondi in Thanjavur District, in 1933 he settled down in Tiruvannamalai, took a house in town, worked in the local hospital, and came regularly to the Ashram to see Bhagavan.
Known in the Ashram as the ‘town doctor’, Dr. Krishnamurthi became the first doctor of the Ashram Dispensary. Until 1942, he treated patients in a simple thatched shed before the new Ashram Dispensary was inaugurated. Though working much of the time, Dr. Krishnamurthi came to have Bhagavan’s darshan each Sunday at 2 pm, leading devotees to call him “Sunday Doctor”. Whenever he would arrive, Bhagavan would say, “Oh, today is Sunday.”
Healing Bhagavan
In the late 1930s, Bhagavan got an intractable case of the hiccups and it fell to Dr. Krishnamurthi to treat him. Having tried every imaginable medicine without result, he became nervous when he discovered Bhagavan’s weak pulse. Returning home, he went to bed full of worry about Bhagavan’s condition.
During the night, Bhagavan appeared to him in a dream: “Why are you weeping? Don’t cry. In the courtyard of your house there is a seendhikodi plant. Pluck some leaves from it, fry them in ghee and then pound them along with dried ginger and jaggery, make a ball of it and bring it to me. Don't worry.”
When the doctor awoke, he and his wife Subbalakshmi went out with a hurricane lamp and searched for the herb in the courtyard. Among a strip of bushes, they found the desired plant. Having made the preparation according to the dream’s instructions, he and his wife entered the darshan hall early in the morning and found Bhagavan sitting on his couch. Bhagavan swallowed the medicine. When they told Bhagavan of the dream, Bhagavan acted as if he knew nothing about it. The hiccups stopped within a few days.
Another Dream
Another incident in respect of Dr. Krishnamurthi’s medical treatments being influenced by dream under Bhagavan’s guidance was the case of a close Ramana family member who suffered a serious burn on the back close to the vertebra. The wound became septic and Dr. Krishnamurthi was deeply concerned that it was not responding to conventional treatment under the care of physicians in Chennai. Bhagavan appeared in Dr. Krishnamurthi’s dream and advised him to apply a mixture consisting of penicillin ointment, cod liver oil and civet musk (the fragrant glandular secretion of the South Indian civet — called punugu in Tamil). With this treatment, the infection cleared up immediately.
Subbalakshmi’s Dream
Mrs. Krishnamurthi first met Bhagavan with her husband during the Deepam festival in the early days of their marriage. Her husband would often run away to Bhagavan, leaving his young bride alone. At one point she became gripped by the terrifying thought that her husband might become a sadhu and
leave her altogether. The following night Bhagavan appeared in a dream, “Have no fear; your husband knows where his duties lie. Give up all worries.” She told her husband of the dream who narrated it to Bhagavan.
At that time the doctor was at the Ashram. When the message was sent to the Ashram about her condition, Bhagavan, who was reading the newspaper at the time, went into a trance. Simultaneously, Mrs. Krishnamurthi’s health was fully restored.
The Photo of Bhagavan
Another time there was a procession in town and Subbulakshmiammal saw the large picture of Seshadri Swami, they were carrying to the accompaniment of drums. She thought, “If only I had at home a similar picture of Bhagavan, I could offer pooja and garlands to him.” Not long afterward, there was a knock on the door. Someone with a large picture of Bhagavan was standing at the doorstep. The man said, “I come from the village of Polur. I am supposed to leave this photograph at your house. I am on my way to the Ashram but will return after having Bhagavan’s darshan.”
In amazement, Subbulakshmiammal took the picture inside, and immediately placed a garland around it and performed puja. When Dr. Krishnamurthi returned home, the children rushed out to greet him, “Father, Bhagavan has come to our house!” Krishnamurthi was likewise astonished and his wife said, “I thought you had sent the man.”

Exploring My Love for the Yellow Army, Mumbai Indians, and Beyond
On a warm, fine Saturday evening, my brother and I took a city bus to attend a marriage function. Instead of heading straight to the venue after getting off the bus, we walked to the Pan shop across the street. We were drawn by the commentary and the yellow spots we could see on the television screen. It was a Chennai Super Kings match from the first year of the IPL. During that time, newspapers…

New Trends in Free Classified Ads in India: How to Leverage the Digital Marketplace
In recent years, India has experienced a significant shift in how people buy, sell, and connect with one another, thanks to the rise of digital platforms. One of the most impactful trends in this digital landscape is the increasing use of free classified ads. These online listings have evolved, making it easier for people across the country to find what they need—from used furniture to job opportunities, rental properties, and everything in between. With the ongoing growth of internet penetration and smartphone usage in India, free classified ads have emerged as a game-changing tool for individuals and businesses alike.
In this blog, we will delve into the latest trends in free classified ads in India, how these platforms have adapted to changing needs, and how you can effectively utilize them to your advantage.
The Growing Popularity of Free Classified Ads in India
The rise of online marketplaces has been nothing short of transformative in India. As of recent data, India has over 600 million internet users, with the number expected to continue growing rapidly. The expansion of affordable smartphones and internet services has empowered millions of people, especially in rural areas, to engage in online transactions.
Free classified ads have gained popularity due to their simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and convenience. Traditional classified ads in newspapers have given way to more dynamic and accessible platforms that allow users to reach a much broader audience in a short amount of time. From offering second-hand goods to finding local services, these platforms serve a wide range of needs for people from different walks of life.
Key Trends Shaping Free Classified Ads in India
Increased Focus on Localized Content
One of the biggest trends in free classified ads is the increasing importance of localized content. Indian users tend to prefer ads that cater to their specific region, language, and needs. Platforms like OLX, Quikr, and Sulekha have incorporated regional filters, enabling users to browse listings based on their geographic location.
This localization not only makes it easier to find relevant content, but it also allows businesses and sellers to target specific regions effectively. Whether it’s selling a used car in Delhi or offering home tutoring services in Chennai, localized ads have become an essential feature of these platforms.
Mobile-Friendly Platforms and Apps
With mobile internet usage skyrocketing in India, free classified ad platforms have shifted their focus toward mobile optimization. Most popular classified ad sites now have mobile apps that allow users to post, search, and respond to ads directly from their smartphones.
This mobile-first approach has greatly increased the convenience for users, as it enables them to browse and manage ads on-the-go. Mobile apps also streamline the process of posting an ad by allowing users to upload images, videos, and descriptions with just a few taps.
Integration of AI and Smart Search Features
Another key trend in the evolution of free classified ads is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve user experience. Many platforms are now using AI and machine learning algorithms to offer smarter search functionalities and personalized recommendations. For example, when you browse ads on a site like OLX or Quikr, the platform may suggest listings that are similar to what you've already viewed or based on your browsing history.
This makes the entire process of searching for a product or service more efficient and tailored to the user’s needs. Additionally, some platforms use AI to filter spam and fraudulent listings, ensuring a safer and more reliable marketplace for all users.
Incorporation of Multimedia for Better Engagement
Gone are the days of simple text-based listings. Today, free classified ad platforms allow users to upload images, videos, and even 360-degree views of products, making listings far more engaging. This multimedia approach enhances the user experience, as it allows potential buyers to get a better understanding of the item or service they are interested in.
For instance, if you’re selling a second-hand phone or a car, you can upload high-quality images or a video walkthrough, which adds credibility and helps the buyer make an informed decision. Similarly, service providers like home cleaners, tutors, and event planners can create short promotional videos to attract potential customers.
Rise of Niche Marketplaces
While large platforms like OLX and Quikr dominate the classified ad space, there has been a rise in niche marketplaces that cater to specific industries or needs. These specialized platforms focus on categories such as real estate, jobs, and even specific hobbies, allowing for more targeted ads and a more focused audience.
For example, websites dedicated to job listings or real estate can provide more detailed filters and options, making it easier for users to find exactly what they need. Similarly, platforms dedicated to pet adoption, used books, or local events provide a much more niche experience, reducing the time spent sifting through irrelevant ads.
Better Security and User Verification
As free classified ads become a more significant part of online transactions, the issue of security has gained attention. Fraudulent transactions and scams have been a concern for many users, which has prompted platforms to introduce enhanced verification processes.
Platforms like Quikr and OLX now offer user verification systems to increase trust between buyers and sellers. For instance, some platforms offer mobile number verification, email confirmation, and even social media profile integration. These measures help reduce fraud and provide users with more confidence when posting or responding to ads.
How to Maximize Your Reach with Free Classified Ads in India
Now that we’ve explored some of the trends in free classified ads in India, here are some practical tips on how to maximize your reach and make the most of these platforms:
1. Post High-Quality Listings
Ensure that your ad includes a clear, detailed description and high-quality images. The better your ad looks and the more information you provide, the higher the chances of attracting potential buyers or clients. Be transparent about the condition of the product or service and provide all necessary details, including pricing, specifications, and location.
2. Use Keywords Effectively
Just like with SEO (search engine optimization), using the right keywords in your ad title and description can increase its visibility. Think about what potential buyers or customers might be searching for and incorporate relevant terms. For example, if you’re selling a second-hand washing machine, include keywords like “used washing machine,” “cheap washing machine,” and the brand name.
3. Update Your Ads Regularly
Keep your ads fresh by updating them regularly. Most classified ad platforms allow you to renew or modify your listings. If your ad isn’t generating responses, try changing the wording, updating the price, or adding new images to make it more appealing.
4. Engage with Prospective Buyers Promptly
When you receive inquiries about your listing, respond as quickly as possible. Being prompt and professional in your communication can help close deals faster. Buyers appreciate timely responses, and this can also help you build a good reputation on the platform.
Conclusion
Free classified ads in India have become an indispensable tool for individuals and businesses looking to buy, sell, or find services. As more people embrace digital platforms and smartphone apps, the future of free classified ads looks promising. By staying on top of the latest trends and leveraging best practices, you can effectively use these platforms to reach a broader audience, increase engagement, and achieve your goals.
Whether you're selling a used product, looking for a job, or advertising your services, taking advantage of the digital marketplace and posting free classified ads in India can help you unlock new opportunities and achieve success.

Small Story 124 Shyamala's Shock
Small Story 124. *Shyamala's Shock*
* Ram was reading the newspaper when his wife, Ambujam, called from the kitchen, "You take the phone and find out who is calling me." Ram picked up the phone and found it was Shyamala on the other end. "Hey, why no calls from you?" Shyamala asked. Ram replied, "I’m Ram speaking. I’ll pass the phone to her." "Ambujam When are you returning from the UK? It’s been over three years since we met. Shyamala replied How’s Desikan, my favorite boy? Sandhya always asks about him. Is he with you?" "Why don’t you visit us for dinner?" Ambujam suggested. Shyamala responded, "No, I’ll come over for tea at 5 PM with your favorite Mysorepak." At 5 PM, Shyamala arrived and was greeted warmly by Ram and Ambujam. "You've gone down, Ambujam! Here, I bought this shirt for Desikan. Where is he?" Shyamala asked. Ambujam fell silent for a few seconds. Then, with a heavy heart, she said, "I lost my dear son last year." Shyamala was shocked. "How? What happened?" Ambujam explained, "He went with his colleague’s parents to a wedding in Udupi. On the way back, their car was hit by a heavy vehicle, and all three of them were killed. His colleague, Vasanthy, who was a good friend, promised over the phone that she would take care of us, as she too lost her parents. We moved from Chennai to Bengaluru last year to live with her. This house was built by her father. Even though we received a sizable compensation for Desikan’s death, it’s nothing compared to losing him." Shyamala was devastated. "My God, I never knew. I haven’t communicated with you in over 18 months, so I wasn’t aware. I’m so sorry, my dear friend," she said, hugging Ambujam. Shyamala Continued, "Sandhya wanted Desikan as her life partner once she settled down, and my husband Murali too. Ambujam whisphered ,But Desikan was firm in his decision not to marry. He loved me deeply, and since he was the only son, he chose to stay with me. Then, this tragic incident happened." Shyamala spoke softly, "When you came to Bengaluru, Last year.I immediately sent our address. I thought you were calling from Chennai." "I came yesterday from London to attend a wedding. I was planning to leave for Chennai tomorrow but never thought i will meet you here," Shyamala explained. Ambujam smiled. "You can stay here until you leave for London. It’ll be good to have you with us." "I was planning to come only for you, to see you and Ram. But I’m missing my charming boy," Shyamala whispered. Ambujam reassured her, "Now, relax. Tonight, we’ll go out for dinner. We can reminisce about our school days in Madurai, and later, our time in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli. Go ahead and bring your luggage from the hotel. I’ll join you soon." Both women left to bring the luggage. K.Ragavan 13-1-25

Fashion vs. Editorial Photography: Key Differences and Overlaps
In the world of photography, the lines between various genres can sometimes blur. Fashion photography and editorial photography often share overlapping elements, but each carries its distinct purpose, style, and execution. Understanding these differences and intersections is crucial for clients, photographers, and creatives seeking the right visual storytelling for their projects.
What is Fashion Photography?
Fashion photography focuses on showcasing clothing, accessories, and beauty products in a visually captivating way. The primary objective is to market and highlight the brand or designer behind the creation. These images are typically seen in:
Advertisements
E-commerce platforms
Lookbooks
High-end magazines like Vogue and Elle
Key characteristics of fashion photography include:
Aesthetic Appeal: It emphasizes artistic flair and creativity, often employing dramatic lighting, unique poses, and bold concepts.
Focus on the Product: The clothing or accessory is the hero of the shot.
High Production Value: This genre often involves elaborate sets, professional models, and a large crew.
Fashion photographers in Chennai, for example, leverage the city’s vibrant culture and dynamic locations to add uniqueness to their shoots.
What is Editorial Photography?
Editorial photography, on the other hand, tells a story. It’s often associated with magazine features or articles, where the images support and enhance written content. Unlike fashion photography, the focus isn’t solely on selling a product but rather on conveying a message, mood, or narrative.
Editorial photography can be found in:
Magazines and newspapers
Online publications
Campaigns with a storytelling angle
Key characteristics of editorial photography include:
Narrative-driven: Each image aligns with the overall story or theme.
Versatile Subjects: It can include fashion, lifestyle, travel, or even conceptual ideas.
Naturalistic Approach: While some shoots may be highly stylized, editorial photography often leans towards authenticity and relatability.
The Overlap Between Fashion and Editorial Photography
While their purposes differ, fashion and editorial photography often intersect. For instance:
Fashion Editorials: These combine the storytelling aspect of editorial photography with the glamour and focus of fashion photography. They’re commonly seen in high-fashion magazines.
Artistic Expression: Both genres allow photographers to experiment with creative concepts, lighting, and composition.
High-Impact Imagery: Whether it’s to tell a story or sell a product, both aim to create striking visuals that resonate with their audience.
Choosing the Right Style for Your Needs
When deciding between fashion and editorial photography, consider your project’s goals:
If your aim is to showcase products or market a brand, fashion photography is the way to go.
If you want to tell a story or support editorial content, opt for editorial photography.
In Chennai, the rich blend of tradition and modernity offers endless possibilities for both styles. Whether you’re looking to highlight a designer’s collection or narrate a compelling story through visuals, our expertise ensures your vision comes to life.
Fashion and editorial photography each bring unique strengths to the table. By understanding their distinctions and overlaps, you can choose the right style to suit your creative vision and achieve your project goals. Collaborating with a versatile photographer who understands both genres ensures you’ll get images that captivate and inspire.
