Primarily used for fleet escort and planetary defence, the Charon played an important role defending Earth during the final days of the Covenant War. Though lightly armed compared to its peers, it was also well-suited for deploying troops to a planet.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the Design of the Paris and Charon class frigates are so iconic that almost every space based game that came after halo has a ship that has a similar design. Even the communities of games can’t help themselves. I cant go five minutes on the space engineers workshop without seeing a design based on the Paris class. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying

I've got a Halo AU for Ghoap too and even though I have everything ready I wanna write fanfic of it and this is where my brain goes
But some things:
• Ghost is a Spartan, of course. Wish I remembered the number but I think it was 114.
• And the 141 is part of an ODST platoon who solves human problems. They're not on the war against the Covenant or in the search for the Halos, they deal with local druglords, terrorists, the gritty stuff.
• But they were falling behind a little, so the UNSC slapped this Spartan II booty on them and said "you better goddamn fix this".
• ODST guys were hostile to Ghost on his first day because he is a Spartan (and there is some one-sided rivalry going on here), but Soap stepped up to defend him like the pookie that he is (Ghost really didn't care about the harassment though but if someone tried to clap him he'd give them refunds).
• So now we have this squad of ODSTs who works closely with a Spartan because Soap said "Captain please" and Price already knew Ghost, worked together with him in the past, and Gaz thought it'd be cool to have one on the team.
• That's basically it. I'm not sure if I should talk about Graves.
• But anyway he was a Marine Commander whose squad got yeeted by Shepherd as some sort of damage control and they couldn't let the bitch die because he had too many important things he never shared (he's shady here, too) with even his higher-ups so they decided to resurrect him as an AI in order to harvest said intel and ended up keeping him around. He's the Captain and Smart AI of the Rook Shrouded in Shadow, a Charon-class light frigate which serves as a base for this ODST platoon and some.
• He hates Shepherd and whenever they have to work together comms is a bicker-fest and Ghost not only wanted to, but actually did turn comms off once, went AWOL, found and fought an entire Covenant squad who was doing some illegal trade with a human crime syndicate, and they had no idea where to find him for a hot hour.
• Soap panicked a little but Gaz knew he'd be fine. How could a 7ft tall super soldier not be? Your crush is showing, MacTavish...
Basically the whole thing hope you're having a good day and remember: Halo Infinite is not that bad.
Cheers ♡

The Forward Unto Dawn level is definitely one of the better ones in 4, but the way it starts with the first quicktime event in the series and Chief's line afterwards "I thought we had a truce with the Covenant" rubs me all kinds of wrong every time
God yeah lol. It also irks me because it totally changes what the Forward Unto Dawn looks like and what weapons it (and Charon-class light frigates as a whole) come armed with, which still isn’t resolved 10 years later where the new halo encyclopedia uses the halo 3 picture of the FuD but lists halo 4 statistics

Operation: Terra Nova (“TN”) - The Set Up
Terra Nova was one of the Class-1 colonization prospects discovered by the first wave of Alliance surveys in 2150. It was the second human extrasolar colony, and the first beyond the Charon mass relay. It once boasted the highest population of any formally endorsed Alliance colony, but in recent years threats of batarian attack caused many to emigrate. The name "Exodus Cluster" became all too apt.
The Reapers landed on Terra Nova after a brief battle with the Alliance's Sixth Fleet.*** Aware that it would lose, the fleet retreated in hopes of meeting with allies and retaking the planet. Intelligence indicates that the Reaper force here is light, and debate rages over whether to try to liberate the planet, or if such an effort would prove futile if the Reapers sent reinforcements.
Capital City: Scott
Population: 4,150,000 (2186)
***The Sixth Fleet was stationed near Terra Nova at the time of the Reaper invasion in 2186. Instead of being directly engaged in battle, the Reapers bypassed the Sixth Fleet entirely on their way to Earth. Their last order from Admiral Hackett was to avoid engagement and lay in reserve. The fleet later comes out of hiding and rallies with the rest of the Alliance after Shepard's visit to a Cerberus facility on Horizon.
Reaper Destroyer in TN Space
Destroyers are a type of Reaper that appear during their galaxy-wide invasion in 2186. They are approximately 160 meters in height; smaller than a Reaper of Sovereign's class, which measure over two kilometers in height. Destroyers make up the majority of the Reaper fleet and are believed to be created using harvested species that are not used to build Reaper Capital Ships.
While relatively small in stature, they still possess a formidable capacity for destruction due to their main gun being easily capable of destroying cruisers in seconds. Unlike Capital Ships, they have four main legs, along with five jointed appendages encircling their "head". The frontal plates of a Destroyer can fold to the sides, exposing a powerful beam weapon. They are used to escort the capital ships, destroying smaller targets such as frigates. On the ground, they are capable of unfolding their legs and walking to support the husks, becoming extremely powerful heavy walkers. They are nigh-immune to ground vehicle fire and not at all fragile in space, but a cruiser is noted to be able to take out a Destroyer fairly quickly.
Due to their smaller size, Destroyers are significantly more agile and maneuverable than the larger Capital Ships. In exo-atmospheric engagements, they are capable of directly landing on larger spacecraft and attacking at point-blank range.
Ground Team:
· Isaac, Eva, Luca
· Archer, Ben
· Ethan, Mason
Berlin Team:
· Marie, Maddox
· Ryan
Rough Reaper Battle Outline:
1. Berlin waits safely out of detectable range of Reaper.
2. Ground team stealths in with a shuttle drop.
3. Ground team works with Berlin (and possibly any local resistance groups) to attack and destroy Reaper.
Possible Reaper Battle Solutions:
· Hack Reaper to attack other Reapers
· Upload virus to disable Reaper
· Orbital Strike/Kinetic Bombardment from the Berlin
· Tech team manages to mount some sort of cannon-type weapon on a ground vehicle like the Mako.
· Berlin weapons systems:
o 1x Front Firing Javelin Torpedo Launcher
o 6x infrared GUARDIAN Turrets
o 2x Twin Rapid Fire Mass Accelerators
One-shot heavy weapons that could also be of use:
· Reaper Blackstar
· Sync Laser
· M-920 Cain
· M-597 Ladon
· M-560 Hydra
Any/all of the above.
Ground Team Scenarios:
· Reapers attack metropolitan areas and indoctrinate those unlucky enough to get out.
· Heavy losses were sustained in the cities.
· Expect heavy ground resistance from varied reaper forces – up to and including banshees.
· A small resistance force has formed and can be found in various holds scattered in the more remote areas of TN.
o These holds serve as bases for resistance forces including intelligence, communications, logistics, and shelter.
· Many of the small towns have had an influx of refugees able to escape the most populated areas but unhelpful to the resistance effort – such as children and elders.
· TN still has a very neighborly sense to it, especially in the rural areas. The colonists have taken it upon themselves to protect and defend their home and neighbors.

Entirely unrelated to todays episode but just something thats been rattling in my brain since I found out...
Atlas’s airships are, by fanmath, almost a kilometer in length.
...900+ meters, 1200 with the wings.
That is not a small airship. That is a big airship.
Want to know how big?
A UNSC Charon-class light frigate, basically the standard baseline UNSC ship, is 480 meters in length (give or take). There’s slightly larger, but none top 600 meters.
Thats fine. Different size ships, sure, whatever.
BUT LOOK AT WHAT THE CHARON PACKS INTO ITS HULL FOR WEAPONS!
1 Mark II, Light Coil – 83B6R3/MAC
50 M58 Archer missile pods
4 M870 Rampart 50mm point defense guns
3 M4093 Hyperion nuclear delivery system silos
(For reference; each individual Archer pod houses 20-60 missiles each, and the Ramparts are computer assisted coilguns. The MAC at the top of the list is a massive railcannon capable of hurling a car sized slug to incredible velocities)
Okay, Orca, whats the point of all of this? Its from Halo. We get it. Lots of guns.
The point is that despite being almost twice its size, ATLAS’S AIRSHIPS DONT SEEM TO HAVE ANY WEAPONRY.
They’ve got that apathetic beam weapon we see in V3 and more recently in V8 (boy howdy that shing SUCKS)...and thats it.
Each of these things is twice the size of a UNSC frigate but it has less than a fourth of the weaponry, and as far as I can tell no hanger bays or docking ports to carry Mantas or fighters or Bullhead.
So what the hell are they using all that size for? If your not going to give it weaponry, why even make the ship that big? You could shrink it down to about a third of the size and mass produce them, and not loose an tactical viability.
Literally the only thing I can think of is that Atlas likes to have an Ascetic and their Ascetic is big, smooth, and techy. So when they build the airships they didnt think what they SHOULD do but what they COULD do.
And this is why we have 12 completely useless airships hovering over Atlas rn instead of what could have been, which is Salems arrival at Atlas being answered with a dozen mass driver slugs turning her whale into gumbo from a thousand klicks out.
Dammit.

Some Observations
So, re-watching the Chorus trilogy for fic purposes, I realized that there are two things you could actually read in the early episodes of Season 13 that do some world building (which I love).
In Prologue, the first episode of the season, Hargrove is being broadcast on Kox News (heh), claiming “We Are Still At War” (that’s the easy part to read), underneath is the ticker which I’ve tried my best to read as much of as possible and transcribe for you.
Tensions Continue to Rise Between Human and Alien Colonists //Halcyon Cryogenics to reveal “Ground-Breaking Technology” ‘This Afternoon/Grifball Players’ Strike Entering Fourth Week, Commissioner Still Refuses to Comment//
(Little Halo lore note, Halcyon is a class of light frigates)
Then, later, in Along Came a Spider (said scene it appears in also includes an RWBY reference), you see a news scroll of headlines, which I’ve also done my best to transcribe.
It also includes a diagram of one of Charon’s rifles, an extended map of Chorus’ landmass, what I presume is a diagram of Charon’s stock, and a feed of the tractor beam temple thing.
(The news scroll was a lot harder to read because Hargrove was a dick and kept getting in the way)
Human extremists attack Sangheili embassy
Grifball strike “Still Going Strong”
Bomb Found Outside UNSC Headquarters
UNSC Company Opens Studio On Moon
Charon Stock Doubles After Monday Press Conference
Pinapple Unveils New Phone
Teen Hacks Into Oooectagon [Dodecagon?]
Prisoner Transport Ship Declared Missing
Hargrove Cons[a?]—unintelligible- Vice President
(If anyone else can transcribe more of these or transcribe them better than I have, please do)

So tomorrow we have a Producing class, where they teach us how to do a formal pitch for feature-length films. We were asked to pitch an original story or adaptation from different media (novels, videogames, stage plays etc.) and I’ve decided to do the First Contact War. We’ll inevitably have to shorten, move around or merge some details and characters to fit a 1.5-3 hour screen time. The goal is to make it interesting enough for those not familiar with ME lore, all while setting up for future films.
So far this is the outline of events I’ve jotted down:
(2098 CE) - ESTABLISHING (~2m)
a short snippet of a 21st century film plays: MEL CARSON finds the first fossilized flower on Mars. A little bit over a ridge, she stumbles across the remains of a small Prothean outpost. (note: character based on Alyssa Carson, who is training to be the first person on Mars by ~2033)
2148 CE - MARS (~5m)
a survey team on Mars is watching the video above from the screen of Mars Curiosity Rover, which has long been relieved of work and now stands as a welcome post for those entering the Mars Archives. This team is the one that finds the Prothean data cache.
In the data cache are blueprints of drive cores and coordinates pointing to Charon, Pluto’s satellite.
2149 CE - EARTH (~25m)
Multi-billionaire ROBERT MANSWELL is at a United Nations conference, proposing a joint charter to spearhead the scientific and military presence of humanity. (based on billionaire Victor Manswell in ME lore - Robert would be his “son”)
As world leaders argue about logistics, Manswell streams a live feed of Charon - except it’s no longer a satellite, but an alien structure - which shocks the conference. (note: ME lore states that the Charon Relay was incased in ice, therefore mistaken as Pluto’s satellite).
It turns out that Robert had privately funded ships to figure out what the coordinates from the cache were, and had been testing the relay by launching probes.
JON GRISSOM prepares to go through the relay; world leaders declare Manswell insane for backing a suicide mission. Grissom and team appear at Arcturus, 36 light-years away, and return after 16 minutes.
The joint charter proposed by Manswell is formed in the wake of Grissom’s success and is subsequently called the Systems Alliance. News reports spread rapidly about FTL, the relay, and the possibility about first contact with aliens. (note: ME lore deviation - the Alliance was formed before these events and were the ones who discovered the relay and selected Grissom to go through it)
2157 - RELAY 314 - 8 YEARS LATER (~10m)
MIA PAVIĆ and ALLEN ALVAREZ are two engineers sent to activate Relay 314. On the 17th day, they manage to activate it just as an alien (turian) cruiser comes along and destroys the two frigates and cargo ships in their company. Their frigate barely manages to make the jump back to the Shanxi-Theta Relay.
Jon Grissom, now a Rear Admiral, orders probes with nuclear warheads into the direction of turian space after given a green light (note: the bomb Hackett asks you to find in ME1)
2157 - SHANXI SPACE / ARCTURUS STATION (~35m)
Turians follow the frigate back to Shanxi. They destroy the human scouts and first responders on the way, as well as comm buoys, and assume positions for orbital strike above the colony.
Mia and Allen attempt to send a distress signal to Arcturus, where the human fleets are based. Orbital strikes begin.
(cut to Arcturus) ADM. KASTANIE DRESCHER lays out counterattack plans; 2ND LT. STEVEN HACKETT and Rear Admiral Jon Grissom are among participating forces. They go on standby for a distress signal to pinpoint the turians’ exact location.
Turians make planetfall on Shanxi and destroy ground comms.
GENERAL WILLIAMS surrenders the colony outpost as it is surrounded by turian forces.
Mia and Allen manage to send the signal and are captured immediately after; turians round up the commanding officers and take them outside. They are forcibly made to wear translators - the turians explain their policing action briefly, pointing out the breach in Council law.
The human fleet arrives and decimates the turian fleet. (note: ME lore deviation - the Shanxi liberation happens over the course of a month)
2157 - EARTH / ARCTURUS STATION (~20m)
Emergency conference of nations - fingers are pointed, blame is shifted. Manswell cuts in and declares that it is too late and there is no choice to prepare for war.
The Alliance fleet is called to full force on Arcturus. A face-off happens with the Turian fleet as they appear from the relay.
Comms are opened and negotiations begin. Human admirals and turian generals speak while the rest of the fleet tense. One jumpy human pilot accidentally fires on a turian cruiser, which deflects harmlessly off the shield.
Just as the turians fire up their weapons, a small group of asari ships appear through the relay. The Destiny Ascension is at the lead, dwarfing the fleet’s largest ships. (note: ME lore deviation - the Destiny Ascension is assigned to the Citadel as its flagship)
MATRIARCH LIDANYA requests representatives from both races and takes them to the Citadel.
2157 - CITADEL (~15m)
Drescher & Grissom take their first walk on the Presidium on the way to the Council Chambers. (edit/note: I was going to cast Desolas Arterius as the turian rep, but just remembered that he went ham in ME: Evolution. Instead going with General Orinia and Commander Vyrnnus, with Vyrnnus as the ‘rogue’ commander who ordered the first strike on the Relay 314 team)
SPARATUS, TEVOS and VALERN introduce themselves and ask each side to explain their story. Sparatus argues against human actions; Valern is neutral; Tevos reprimands the turian generals for their course of action in terms of first contact. The Council promises reparations for the human side, and also formally welcomes them to the galactic community despite the circumstances. (note: possible continuity error - since salarians don’t live very long Valern would have to be at the end of his life at around the trilogy timeline; still, I wanted to keep a familiar face to point back to the games)
The humans and turians leave on a sour note and return to their fleets.
Nov. 11 - the war ends and is referenced as Armistice Day.
Total approx. runtime: ~2 - 2.5 hrs
A lot of the deviations were written for dramatic or shock value from the eyes of humanity, such as the appearance of the Destiny Ascension; imagine, right at the moment when the turians start firing, this huge ass ship comes and makes all the humans go what the flying fuck is that.
Others, such as the establishment of the Systems Alliance, for more of an ‘origins’ angle of the organization. I wanted to give Jon Grissom a larger role to lead into the novels, but the writing kinda falls apart here due to the need to accelerate events. We’ve been taught how to write screenplays (show, don’t tell) but this would’ve been thrice as long if contexts were all hinted at and explained later. I still need to figure out some parts, but overall this was slightly shorter than what I’d imagined the condensed version to be.
The last section was supposed to just be the asari stepping in and stopping the war, but our teacher didn’t want a deus ex machina so I changed it into a Citadel + Presidium scene, to kind of lead in to ME1 visuals.
There’ll be references of “first contact protocol” during 1) Manswell’s explanation, 2) mentioned by Allen as they chat while trying to activate Relay 314, 3) during the planning of the Shanxi counterattack and 4) at the Council hearing.
Other cameos could include Anderson, Dr. Chakwas, Tadius Ahern (from Pinnacle Station) and Oleg Petrovsky, but I haven’t read their involvement if they were doing anything particular during the war.

A story I am working on!
“The vast vacuum of space holds many vessels: those in active duty, and those which did not survive its harshness. Space, crueler than the sea, never returns those it takes from us. Once they are gone, the chances of seeing them again is almost zero. Mariners do not belong in space, no, they belong in their boats on the seas of some forgotten planet. In this era, if you cannot survive in space, there is no chance of your survival at all. One must be under the command of a fearless captain, who is not afraid to make decisions in the heat of battle. Human leaders are simply…too emotional. Android leaders are the next generation of captains, and if a vessel does not have one, I can guarantee it will not survive. At least, it will not survive me.”
Chapter 1
Charon_2 stood in the helm of his personal vessel, The Legion of Silver. The vessel was a massive battle cruiser, which he designed. On the sides of his vessel were numerous plasma cannons, each ready to be fired on his command. On the vessel’s underside were torpedo ducts, where massive plasma torpedoes awaited use and destruction. All of the weapons were SciTech grade, created without the worry of cost. Standing at 6’7, Charon_2 watched the image projected onto the viewing screen above his head. The screen spanned across the entirety of the wall which it was on, and was crystal clear high-definition. Staring at the screen, Charon_2 adjusted his grip on his wrist behind his back, his fingers clanking against his metal armor. Moving his head down, Charon_2 looked at the technician android next to him, its light blue armor contrasted by its red eyes. It was surrounded by about ten other androids dispersed across the room, each with a job of their own to carry out. Clicking the keyboard and making minor adjustments to the handles in front of it, the technician was aware of its superior, but did not acknowledge him. Keeping focus, the android’s prime directive was to make sure it was controlling the ship in the course set by the shipmaster, who received orders from the mountain of android owning the vessel.
“Current course, helmsman” Charon_2 said, his voice breaking the silence of the helm. Keeping its gaze between the screen and the keys, the android readied a reply.
“Current course is set for Intanthu, Charon, sir” the blue android said, tapping the keys and reading the graphs on its HUD.
“Excellent,” Charon_2 replied, shifting his weight and walking to his left. He looked over the shoulder of one of the other technicians at the helm. This android oversaw weapons and their condition, and when it received the order, it was to use them. The android’s fiberglass eyes reflected the bright images on its small computer which relayed messages about the weapons. Swiping on the screen, the android read the message of the angle change of the plasma cannon, then fixed it manually on the keyboard.
“Are weapons in order?” Charon_2 said sadistically, removing his hands from behind his back and holding them at his sides.
“At the current time, yes, Charon” the android replied quickly and monotonously.
“Give me the diagnostic” Charon_2 snapped, crossing his arms.
“Of course, Sir. Plasma cannons are fully charged and functionally normally. Ion torpedoes are held into place, on standby, and their heat-seeking algorithms are indeed functional.”
“And shields?” The large android asked, almost with excitement in his voice, if it were possible.
“Shields are at full charge, Sir. They have not lost any charge since we departed the hangar.”
“Excellent…excellent” Charon_2 said, turning and walking back towards the sliding doors to enter the corridors. Meeting him at the door was the shipmaster, whose helmet was under his arm. The brown armored man looked up at the mountain of an android before him and froze.
“Shipmaster,” Charon_2 said, greeting his subordinate officer.
“Good afternoon, Sir” the shipmaster replied firmly, trying to hide his fear.
“You have your orders,” Charon_2 said, removing a small Holo-pad from his side pouch, “Take us to Intanthu. If any BioLabs vessels are to cross our line of sight, destroy them.” Charon_2 shoved the Holo-pad into the shipmaster’s chest and walked on through the open doors.
“…Aye, sir” the shipmaster replied quietly. He took a breath and trudged to the swiveling chair in the middle of the helm. The shipmaster was the only human aboard The Legion of Silver, and was undoubtedly lonely. He joined SciTech to see space, nothing more. He knew the risks and tasks he would face, but he thought he could get past it: he couldn’t. The week prior, he ordered the androids to destroy a cargo freighter delivering supplies to Sahara Alpha. When the vessel exploded, he knew that he killed not only the people aboard, but also the people who needed the supplies. With a sigh, the shipmaster sat down and dawned his helmet.
“At our current speed, what is our ETA?” He asked. The androids tapped on their keyboards, finding the answer. One of the technicians turned from its seat and met the shipmaster’s gaze.
“At our current speed, we will arrive at Intanthu in 1 day, 3 hours, and 24 minutes, Sir.”
“Alright, keep it steady as she goes, .48B” the shipmaster said. He learned which androids sat where, what their jobs were, and even their IDs. Looking down at his Holo-pad he received from Charon_2, the shipmaster sighed and read the log. It was instructions on what to do if there were any BioLabs vessels.
“Scanners have indicated that a team of BioLabs fighters will be coming into our range at some time during our course to Intanthu. In the event that you are at the helm while this happens, I give you the order to open fire on them. Be sure to destroy the fighters, and remember, Shipmaster: we do not take prisoners aboard my ship. These are the only ships the technicians have foreseen, but if there are other BioLabs vessels coming our way, I order you to destroy them, as well. This mission is important for the foothold we need over BioLabs, and I am entrusting this mission in your hands. Do not disappoint me, shipmaster, or there will be repercussions. -Charon “
“Damn…” the shipmaster said, shaking his head. With an inhale of bravado, the shipmaster barked out an order.
“Scan the immediate vicinity. I want to know the locations of any BioLabs fighters, vessels, frigates, you name it.” The androids began typing on their keyboards and looking up at the screen, adjusting their instruments for the orders. After a few moments, an android to the shipmaster’s right clamored out the response.
“Two BioLabs Mongrels, coming this way, Shipmaster. ETA ten minutes at current speed.”
“Heat up those plasma cannons, .59W” the shipmaster said, pointing at the android in charge of weaponry, “I don’t think we’ll need those torpedoes, but get them ready too!”
“Certainly.” The android replied, twisting a knob on the keyboard gently. It pressed a button, making the cannons perk up and oscillate slowly.
“Plasma cannons are ready to fire, Shipmaster” .59W said, turning its head slightly over its shoulder, then looking back at the projection screen.
“Please miss…” the shipmaster thought to himself, uncertain of the outcome of the imminent battle.
“Are the androids ready?” Charon_2 asked his General. The General was a light silver color with broad shoulders. Its eyes were replaced with a single oscillating laser which dimmed and glowed every few seconds. It was almost six feet tall, but it was no match for Charon_2. The General knew it was the subordinate android, and it acted like it. Standing at attention, the android listened and replied only when spoken to.
“Aye, Charon, sir” the General replied, “I have ensured their programming meets the proper battle formation and strategy. I have altered the code myself. I have the utmost confidence in this group.”
“Good,” Charon_2 said, walking around his General, “I hope for your sake that your androids do in fact return successful. Victory must be swift, quick, and absolute. I don’t care how many androids it takes, I want this mission to be a success.”
“I understand, Sir” the General said, its laser eye following Charon_2.
“Shall I lend you Vultures?” Charon_2 asked, baiting the General to test its mechanics.
“That will not be needed, Charon, sir” the silver android replied, “I have a Guerilla on standby.” Charon_2 scoffed in response.
“I shall lend you one Vulture. Guerillas are poor combatants in battle. Of course, they have brute strength, but their weakness is blatantly obvious. Do not make that mistake again, General. I have other officers waiting at different outposts ready to be delivered to me.”
“Of course, Sir” the android replied. Charon_2 turned and left the room, leaving the android alone. The General altered its attack methods and made the proper adjustments to the outline for its androids.
“Oh, shit” one of the two BioLabs fighter pilots said into his radio. He stared forward, eyes peering through the tinted visor on his helmet, which was connected to an air tube latched to a tank on his back. After radio static and a quick inhale of fresh air, the pilot continued on with his sentence.
“Is that Charon’s ship?” he asked rhetorically, alerting his teammate more than asking him. The other pilot had static on his radio for a moment, then replied quickly.
“I think so, yeah.” He said with a tint of fear in his voice. The fighters were fractions of fractions of the size of Charon_2’s ship, and would do little to no damage to its hull. They did have something the cruiser lacked, however: speed and maneuverability. The cruiser was meant for long distance travel at a constant speed, but the fighters could go at whatever speed they desired.
“We’re dead.” The first pilot said, adjusting the handles on his console to keep his course steady.
“We can’t take the cruiser down, but we can damage parts of it.” The second pilot said, eyeing the battle-class cruiser heading straight for them.
“Right.” The first pilot said hesitantly, looking over the gargantuan ship again.
“They’re lined with cannons and torpedo launchers,” the second pilot said, “but if we focus on just the offense, it can’t hurt us any. If we can blow the cannons and torpedo bays, we can keep going and not worry about the ship.”
“I see what you mean, now”. The first pilot said, smirking under his helmet, “The big lug won’t know what hit him.”
“It’s probably a suicide mission,” the second pilot said, “but we can’t just let them take us out.”
“It’s been an honor.” The first pilot said, flipping switches to ready his plasma cannons. BioLabs Mongrels were not like other fighters, they came with unique weaponry and abilities. Both pilots had a plasma cannon under each wing, but they had unique primary weapons. The first pilot harbored a missile barrage on the undercarriage of his ship, while the second pilot wielded a long range laser at the nose of his Mongrel. All Mongrels looked the same: a thick cockpit with two V shape wings angling down on either side. They could reach fair speeds as far as space travel went, but they were so maneuverable that a small fleet could make their way through a dense asteroid belt. Charon_2’s ship, however, would merely cruise through the belt and dislodge all the rock.
“See you on the other side!” the second pilot said, punching the ignition and flying towards The Legion of Silver.
“Didn’t know this was a race!” The first pilot said, smirking under his helmet and breaking off in the opposite direction. The Mongrels left a trail of blue behind them as they soared through the black void. The pilots did aerobatics as they honed in on their target, weapons ready to fire.

It’d been one hell of a battle. Cortana was helping the marines keep the flood at bay, but they overpowered her. With such a desperate situation, Lord Hood approved of her plan. She took control of the frigate’s systems, and used the autopilot to lead the flood away. Her plan was to set the reactors to overload, and detonate the frigate, while she ejected and escaped. Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan...
It was a peaceful day on Chorus. Birds were singing, flowers blooming. Everything seemed to be normal, until a UNSC Charon-class light frigate ripped out of a portal directly above the capitol. Certain areas of the ship were on fire, and the cannons along the side of the frigate were firing at whatever was behind it, through the portal. The portal sealed before the flood-contaminated ship could come through, but the frigate was already going down, fast. And, this time, it wasn’t caused by the mercs.
Just before it hit the ground, it sent out a high-priority distress signal, identifiable as UNSC. When it hit, it hit hard, leaving a trail of destruction and a huge crater. Yet, the ship remained somewhat intact- intact enough to enter, at least. After the crash, the distress signal cut off. No life signs could be detected on board, and there were no bodies. Which begged the question: What the hell happened?
