#Charlotte is the second hardest to draw because i have no practice drawing animals

Decided to draw a group shot of the original X-Men team for my Hatchetfield au. I have ideas for a bunch of arcs based on the comics. This picture is from the first year before their costumes get more individuality.

Basic summary: Professor Hidgens gets inspired to create a school for mutant teens and takes in five students to start. He trains them to be the X-Men, a super team dedicated to stopping the evil, telepathic witch, Miss Holloway, however everything is not as it seems and there are dark forces at play that none of the teens can predict. It's heavily inspired by the New Mutants foundation.

I'll probably make posts for each of them but I'll give a little run down on the powers to explain what's happening in the image.

Charlotte looks like a fluffy, domestic gray cat. She has the eyesight and reflexes of a cat, along with the claws and teeth so she can do much things cats can do. She's very self conscious about being so visibly mutated.

Jane is very much the Jean Gray of the story. She has very powerful telepathy and telekinesis and eventually a connection to the Phoenix Force. She was the first student and is the oldest by a few years.

Ted can teleport through time and can manipulate time as a whole. He wears eye protection because of the teleportation. Because he alters time as a whole, he is very bound by the rules of paradoxes which limits his power significantly.

Hidgens can see visions of the future. Professor X is a telepath but Hidgens is definitely not one.

Paul didn't pick his own code name, Bill picked it because Paul couldn't think of one. He can create items out of solid, blue light, mostly this is things like shields or melee weapons, he can't do projectiles because the light fades if he's not touching it. He also has extra sensory perception what manifests as gut feelings. He's the youngest on the team.

Bill has the power of Cosmic Energy. He is physically made of space and is as solid as he wants to be, usually being similar to a plasma with bits floating off and dissolving into the universe without him losing any mass. His skin is covered in stars, distant planets, and galaxy that move as he does, and his eyes look like galaxies. He doesn't mind being visibly mutated too much because he thinks he looks really cool. Cosmic Energy is one of the strongest things in Marvel, so he is extremely powerful.

sorry to be a bother but i heard you mention human aus. whod have what career and why? on a side note, can you write a cute self insert about yourself and your favourite country? if the last one’s too weird than i totally understand if you don’t wanna do it

I actually have an entire town dedicated to the Human AU. It’s called Valenston after the founding family Valentini. It has its own university, which emphasizes research, with an attached medical school and both undergraduate and graduate level degrees.

As for your second request, I’ll keep it in mind but I’m a very boring person, and I can’t think of any way to make a story about myself interesting.

1P America :: Alfred F. Jones

ღ He is an undergraduate student at the University of Valenston. 

ღ He’s majoring in Astrophysical Science.

ღ His dream is to become an astronaut and be one of the first men to walk on Mars.

2P America :: Jason A. Cardinali

ღ Unlike Alfred, Jason never goes to college. In fact, he doesn’t even finish high school.

ღ He drops out halfway through 9th grade because school is fucking hard and he struggles with an undiagnosed learning disability.

ღ Since dropping out, he’s worked in construction.

1P Canada :: Matthew Williams

ღ He just graduated from the University of Valenston with a B.A. in Comparative Literature.

ღ He’s not sure what he wants to do with the rest of his life and is having a mild existential crisis about why he even went to college in the first place.

ღ For now he works at Oliver’s bakery as a server.

2P Canada :: Beauregard “Beau” Lambert

ღ He graduated high school but only just.

ღ He’s spent much of his adolescent years getting into trouble for fighting, especially after his mom died from a drug overdose.

ღ He wants to go into the culinary program at the University of Valenston but he can’t afford the tuition.

1P China :: Yao Wang

ღ He’s a doctor who owns his own practice and has recently taken on Timo as an associate.

ღ His specialty is general practice.

ღ He’s an alumni of the University of Valenston’s Medical School.

2P China :: Xiaoyu “Xiao” Wen

ღ He lives near the university campus and sells prescriptions to students.

ღ He also takes the MCAT for hopeful pre-med students. The highest score he ever achieved was a 525 out of 528.

ღ Why doesn’t he just go to school himself? He’s been cut off from the family fortune and can’t afford it.

1P England :: Arthur Kirkland

ღ He works as an investigative journalist for a self-published newspaper.

ღ His specialty is uncovering the sordid secrets of Valenston, but especially its founding family, the Valentini.

ღ He used to work for the local paper, but his expose on Junius Valentini resulted in his utter disgrace.

2P England :: Oliver Townsend

ღ He owns and operates the best bakery in town.

ღ His business partner is his best friend and fellow graduate of Valenston’s culinary program, Charlotte (1P Belgium).

ღ His adoptive son, Jason, is both his greatest treasure and his greatest headache. Lord, help him.

1P France :: Francis Bonnefoy

ღ He owns the only beauty salon in town and is the head hair stylist.

ღ In his downtime, he also runs a beauty guru channel on youtube.

ღ His specialties are make-up reviews, hair product reviews, and hair style tutorials.

2P France :: Jacques Girardot

ღ He’s a professor of mathematics at the University of Valenston.

ღ He’s made significant contributions to the field, has an equation named after him, and has won some prestigious awards for his work.

ღ He’s also a hardcore alcoholic.

1P Germany :: Ludwig Beilschmidt

ღ He runs the local no-kill animal shelter.

ღ It’s both the hardest job he’s ever had - because he gets so attached to all the animals - and also the most rewarding.

ღ This is why he has so many dogs. He just keeps bringing them home and giving Gilbert this sad, kicked puppy look.

2P Germany :: Lars Brenner

ღ He’s a private fitness instructor for bored, rich housewives in the area.

ღ He gets solicited for physical relationships by his clients a lot, and he’s ashamed to say he’s taken a few up on their offers.

ღ It honestly makes him feel really dirty and he’s thinking about making a career change because he’s just not happy anymore.

1P Japan :: Kiku Honda

ღ He’s a graduate student in economics at the University of Valenston.

ღ As a hobby, he also draws one shot hentai manga under two pseudonyms, one male and one female, on Renta.

ღ He sells these through online manga shops

2P Japan :: Ren Suzuki

ღ He develops and sells home and business security products.

ღ He also has a Twitch channel and competes on gaming competitions under an assumed name and persona, so that his “nerd” habits are not associated with his real life. 

ღ His disguise is wearing his glasses instead of his contacts. That’s it. That’s his bold strategy.

1P North Italy :: Feliciano Vargas

ღ He works as the receptionist at Yao’s practice.

ღ He’s honestly not very good at it, being disorganized and easily distracted, but he wins a lot of patients over with his charming smiles and cheerful personality.

ღ He also volunteers at the animal shelter so he can help Ludwig with all the cute kitties!

2P North Italy :: Luciano Valentini

ღ He works as the town mortician because dead people are easier to deal with than living people.

ღ If you ask his grandfather, Junius, he’s the Valentini family’s second greatest disappointment - Flavio is the first.

ღ He does his best to distance himself from his family’s unsavory reputation and is all but disowned at this point.

1P Prussia :: Gilbert Beilschmidt 

ღ His father, Alaric, is the Chief of the Valenston police department, and Gilbert works as his Chief Deputy.

ღ He’s actually scarily good at it, which surprises most of the town, because Gilbert was an absolute delinquent in his teen years.

ღ Of course, he’s not going to lie, getting to ride a motorcycle as part of his job was a huge plus for him.

2P Prussia :: Jannik “Jan” Brenner

ღ He’s an accomplished blogger who runs a movie and book review blog for the romantic comedy genre.

ღ On Sundays, he answers relationship-related questions from his followers.

ღ He averages anywhere between 4,000 USD to 6,000 USD a month from his blog.

1P Russia :: Ivan Braginsky

ღ He works as a stock-boy at Kateryna’s flower shop.

ღ He’s always dreamed of going to the University and studying Astrophysical Science, like Alfred, but his family was too poor to send him.

ღ In the evenings, he’s a big name in the underground boxing world.

2P Russia :: Pyotr Ruslyakov

ღ He’s the CEO of his own think tank company.

ღ He purchases a lot of research from the university, and otherwise is a huge financial contributor to the science departments.

ღ As a hobby, he collects rare antique books and manuscripts, and his most prized possession is one of Leonardo da Vinci’s original manuscripts.

1P South Italy :: Lovino Vargas

ღ He’s on the police force and works the night shift.

ღ He’s currently on suspension for “harassing” the Valentini family.

ღ He works closely with Arthur and Flavio to unearth all the Valentini family’s dirty business.

2P South Italy :: Flavio Valentini

ღ He’s a fashion designer with his own boutique in town.

ღ He’s also the heir to the Valentini family name, although he’s been estranged from the family since his teen years.

ღ He’s working to overthrow his grandfather, Junius’, reign over the family for the sake of his little brother, Luciano.

1P Spain :: Antonio Hernández

ღ He’s a formal model who got dropped by his agency due to his age.

ღ Now he’s back in Valenston, living off what little money he has left from his modeling career, and trying but failing to find a job he enjoys.

ღ The longest he’s been employed at one job since coming home is four weeks.  

2P Spain :: Andres Bardem

ღ He runs his own landscaping business and works pretty closely with Kateryna’s shop.

ღ Prior to this, he was Spanish armed forces but he never talks about that time in his life.

ღ His house is an explosion of greenery because as a hobby he grows different succulents.

The Phoenix Has Landed (And I Have Big News)

The phoenix has landed, the cat is on the lead, the dog is at the dinner table and the chicken is a cover star. Sounds like a slightly odd lesson from one of those secondary school French listening tapes (ecoutez et repetez!) but it is, in fact, my latest magazine shoot.

We went quite off piste with the whole idea behind this fashion shoot for Phoenix magazine; what began as a sort of satirical commentary on country living, via clothing trends, became a quite bonkers story about my home life and various animals. I mean I even cuddled a chicken, for crying out loud. I hate chickens and their bony, weird claws and their wings that feel all fragile and flappy and panicked.

I hope you appreciate the things I do for my art, in inverted commas.

You can see the full editorial with photoshoot at Phoenix here – there’s such a kind and detailed interview inside. The only thing is: the lovely people at Phoenix have been very organised and punctual with their content but I have not. So there’s a bit of a surprise for any of you who read the magazine before you read what I’m about to say…

…because the cat is out of the bag and the project I’ve been working on for almost two years has been revealed. The Night Feed. The Night Feed is an app designed for new mums (or not-so-new mums) who are up in the middle of the night feeding and comforting babies or just trying to get them to GO BACK TO BLOODY SLEEP! There’s nothing lonelier than being awake for the night feed and being completely by yourself; unable to text anyone because they’re all in bed, unable to watch the TV because you’ll wake the baby up… For me, it was one of the hardest things about being a new mum and by the time I was going through it with my second baby, Ted, I decided that enough was enough: there had to be somewhere I could go at night to feel less lonely and pass the time in a useful and pleasant way. And it didn’t exist, so I decided to create it myself.

The Night Feed is (if I may say so myself) pretty amazing and I hope that everyone will want to take a look, not just new mums or mums with older babies that won’t sleep. It’s a constantly updated feed of content (blog posts, reviews, diary entries) as well as a place where people can easily connect with one another via messaging and discussion threads. Think of it as a warm, welcoming members’ club where you can join in as much or as little as you want – stop on by and read a newspaper (the feed posts and reviews – keep up with this analogy, it’s a good one) or pull up an armchair and chat to like-minded people whilst you eat biscuits.

If you’re awake at night and feeling frustrated and bored then I hope that this is the place you’ll feel an inexplicable pull towards – like a warm light shining out into the dark, I want it to reel you in, draw you to it like moths to a flame. And for those who like a purely practical app there’s a baby feed timer with painstakingly thought-out, clever features as well as my self-created selection of the best white noise sleep sounds. (I still use a sleep sounds app and Ted is two; it’ll be worth downloading the app for this alone!)

Of course the content is not completely baby-centric (we don’t all want to lose our minds) and the app is for anyone who wants to use it, male or female, parent or non-parent. And obviously you don’t just have to use it at night – the content will be there 24/7, the night will just be when the fun stuff happens. Because it’s about time there was an upside to being woken up every three hours. Apart from the cute baby aspect. And the fact you can eat choc chip Tracker bars at 3am and not feel too guilty.

Now look, the app isn’t quite ready yet – it’s in its final build stages – but I will be needing a few people to test it pre-launch, so please do comment below if you’d be up for it. I need thorough testing and honest feedback because once it goes out into the cold dark night, there’s no going back! It’s already being tested to the nth degree, but I always trust you lot to tell me what’s what and so I’d be eternally grateful…

I will update you as soon as we are go-go-go with The Night Feed; I’m so excited. This is the biggest project I’ve ever done on my own and it has been such a learning curve, I can’t wait to show you the finished product!
