"I hope you find happiness."
"I did. Just had to leave it behind for a while."
Um what? What did she leave? You mean when she left Gabrielle behind. Oh my lord. JUST FUCKING CAUGHT THIS!
THIS IS EPISODE 2!
Not to mention Gabrielle talks about how she has to find a man and get married just as Sears said, she's the classic late in life lesbian.
Cut to another guy trying to domesticate and tie down Xena. Make her softer.
This show isn't just gay it has layers of gay. Like the layers in the earth's crust, man.
And they reunite and how does it end...?
With them talking about leaving their families behind (gay). Did they miss them (gay). Gabrielle says not as much when I'm with you (GAAAAAY).
Y'all they planned this. And I am in awe. Will write academic essays on the space in queer culture Xena carved out for itself. Even when there was no place for it to belong (GAY).

The human shall protest to the grave
February 1, 1992
Today I’m feeling really shaky—distraught—ANXT. Is it because last night things got shaken loose? Jumbled up—like the physical system after a tough work out—
I keep thinking about “Fried Green Tomatoes”. Nice life inspiration—kind of the “Chariots” of 1992.
Yesterday was incredible—really—at noon…Terry Loyal Jones signed his will. Blinded…he signed  his proposed will instructions which said  “I leave all else to my long time companion. Bury me in my tennis shoes—why waste a good pair of boots? Later, he decided—the boots would be ok, and his jeans and new shirt. If a certain 3 people attended the funeral, have them arrested (including a sister). At the funeral, come dressed for a party, I want balloons and two songs (I can’t recall now what the songs were). And, he included who he wanted to do his eulogy.
And, there he lied—all thin, giant, Auschwitz like. Blind. But full of vim and fire and life. His life flame burned as brightly…and his friend loved him as intensely and freshly…as any I have yet experienced..Terry and I shook hands twice. I said at the end “take care”.
And they, Terry and his partner, were just as fervently “Living”  the life style…”Why should we give up our property to relatives? We’ve lived like husband and wife”…so, the “will: will serve as their official statement of intent.
“We were legit.
BACK OFF.’
The book says—“The human shall protest to the grave.”
Thank God.
End of entry
12/3/2024. Notes:
Terry Loyal Joes had Aids. A 2/17/1992 margin note to the above entry said “he died last Thursday.”  He was matched with a volunteer with the Stanislaus County Aids Project who helped him through his illness and death. He was not my match. I must have been there to help him with the will signing.
Late stage a
Fried Green Tomatoes was a 1991 movie. “Chariots” refers to “Chariots of Fire” a 1981 movie.
I’m not sure what book I was quoting from at the end of the entry (the human shall protest to the grave).  But, I still totally agree with the message.
One AIDS related complex was loss of vision ability and blindness
Auschwitz was a German concentration camp where Jews, Gypsies LBGTQ and others were taken to be torched, starved and killed during World War II. The inmates grew to look like a late stage AIDS victim of the 1980's and 1990's.

Find Five Lines Tag
Thank you for the tag, @television-overload~!
Rules: find any lines in your WIP that fit each parameter given by the person who tagged you. Then change one of the parameters and tag five or more people. Can be lines from multiple WIPs. If you can't find a line that fits, feel free to change the prompt.
My lines: a line about family, a passionate line, a line expressing dread, a line that is screamed, a funny line
Your lines: a line about family, a passionate line, a line expressing relief, a line that screamed, a funny line
Family line: "You Up for Joining Us?"
“I should call Melissa,” Bill rasped, rubbing a hand across his eyes, wondering if his father would already have done so.
Passionate line: Eight Nights of Mulder, Day 1: Gold
Alarmed, her pupils widened as her brain scrambled; and the only thought her mind could conjure through the static was gold, gold, gold on sluggish repeat.
Dread line: Son of Egypt
And if closed, found, 2000, died, resurrected was a possibility, then there was an equal chance that born, adopted, given a new identity could be true as well.
Screamed line: The Hospital Where You Slept
“Paramedics, now!” Mulder yelled, vaulting forward and pumping, pumping, pumping to keep her soul from leaving once more.
Funny line: Chariots of Fire
Above the thundering chaos, Krycek could have sworn he heard an angel jamming "Chariots of Fire" on his harp.

One Dress a Day Challenge
November: Oscar Winners
Chariots of Fire / Alice Krige as Sybil Gordon
Year: 1981
Designer: Milena Canonero
This cream-colored dress looks just perfect for a warm summer day. It has the by-now-familiar semi-sheer top over an opaque foundation (compare these costumes from Enchanted April, which is set around the same time). There's a bit of subtle eyelet work around the seams and hems. It's not quite clear whether the floral designs are embroidered or stenciled on, but they appear to cover the whole dress, based on what we can see of the skirt. The gloves, by contrast, extend down the wrist and have a polka-dot design on the frills.
The cloth band and floral decoration on her broad-brimmed straw hat pick up the colors of the dress, and her parasol appears to be a very pale pink.

The BBCIplayer, at least in Britain so don't quote me, has a genuinely great collection of like "must see old movies".
Casablanca, The Producers, Cleopatra, Hello Dolly, The Graduate, Mary Queen of Scots, Great Expectations (1941), Guys and Dolls, Chariots of Fire, Citizen Kane, El Cid, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Funny Girl, Fiddler on the Roof and The Ipcress File.
So anyone wondering where to watch these in this streaming hellscape we live in? BBCIplayer babyyyy

Chariots of Fire is absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite movies of all time.
The juxtaposition between Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell of what running means to each of them is incredibly done. Abrahams needs to win in order to have any purpose, but the second that he does, he realizes how empty it is. And Liddell 'runs to feel God's pleasure'.
They way they portrayed Eric Liddell was absolutely perfect. Ian Charleston perfectly showed the crazy way that Liddell ran. And the reason that him running with his arms flailing, head tilted back and mouth wide open, looking like a crazy person, is so so important because A) that's how Liddell ran in real life, and B) that's how he physically showed the way he felt God's pleasure while running. And the way he grasps to faith, refusing to stray from his morals even when it looks like for a while he won't be able to compete is so powerful. He stands strongly to what God has called him to do, which is return to China as a missionary again (where he would later die towards the end of WW2 in an internment camp), and to the gifts God has given him, which was to run and to use that to preach to others about the faith and inspire them through his skill.
And everything else about the movie is utterly smashing. The acting is phenomenal, the music is great, I cry several times while watching it each time because of how many good scenes there are talking about carrying out what God has set your purpose to be, the running is so inspirational, and its just so good.

Chariots of Fire

*****
Alex Krycek had upheld his end of the bargain: dangle the promise of a greater conspiracy in front of Fox Mulder, wheedle him from New York to Washington D.C. to Russia without exposing the dupe, and let his unwitting captive walk straight into the hands of his new countermeasure cohorts. The simplest way of accomplishing those instructions had not, of course, included a sneak-in from the gulag’s backdoor; but Krycek had ulterior motives of his own, and was never one to pass up an opportunity.
Two years ago, he’d been sham-partnered. Two years ago, Mulder’d taken off after a suspect, leaving Alex no choice but to follow. Two years ago, Krycek had eaten Mulder’s dust and embarrassingly pulled a hamstring. Two years ago, he'd been simultaneously angry and impressed enough to note that Fox Mulder ran and ran fast; and that one day he’d find out how fast that fast was.
Two years later, Alex watched, spellbound, as his former partner raced down the hill like an erratic Arabian, mounted militia yelling fruitless commands while their horses panted and slowed in his wake. Not only did Mulder maintain his lead, but he effortlessly lengthened it.
5 feet, 10 feet, 15--
Above the thundering chaos, Krycek could have sworn he heard an angel jamming "Chariots of Fire" on his harp.

Thank you for reading~
Enjoy!
