Thinking of the Hbomerguy pathologic video and I still can’t stop fucking cackling over the Changeling’s casual “I know :)” in response to taunting her with the biggest lore drop in the entire game

Merlin rewatch -- S3E6: The Changeling
Tumblr media
I love this scene.
Merlin handing over a sword to Arthur with both hands is always nice, the whole talk about destiny and choices too. Merlin really leaned into the advisor side of his role in s3 and this is my favourite moment of it.
Tumblr media
It started with a friendly concern, which is nice. They were first and foremost friends. If Merlin could be more present in Arthur's time of crisis and ask this question ealrier it'd be nicer, but alas, he was busy. I do like how not bothered he was by the idea of Arthur marrying Elena. It wasn't the life he'd like but he respected that it was Arthur's, if Arthur were to choose it.
After some complaints about destiny,
"How come you're so knowledgeble?" "I read a book."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Arthur obviously didn't buy that excuse lol, and Merlin knew he wouldn't. But Arthur just accepted the mystery that was Merlin and continued asking. It's very lovely. It might be why Merlin was smiling softly like that. Yes, Arthur didn't know nearly enough about his best friend, but he trusted Merlin to give the council that was wise and out of genuine care for Arthur.
Also, maybe Merlin was smiling at this rare moment he felt that they stood side by side in front of destiny. He wasn't alone.
Tumblr media
Merlin was so prepared to launch his big speech, but still pulled himself back, and I really like that. Small things he may not care that much but this is a turning point in Arthur's life, and Merlin was so careful not to cross the boundary, not to interfere when he shouldn't. He respected Arthur's choice of life and trusted Arthur's judgement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You may be destined to rule Camelot but you have a choice..."
Merlin looked so confident and vibrant with energy, while Arthur almost looked lost. Merlin was dumping what had occupied his mind for too long, while Arthur's worldview was being broken apart and reformed. Not just his perception of what a king ought to be, also his understanding of Merlin.
Tumblr media
Merlin looked like he finally came back to himself after the passionate speech. A little relief, and possibly a little concern that he might have spoken too much? There was also something like sadness or hollowness. Like he'd done all this and from this point on it was Arthur's choice now. All he could do was wait, and pray that Arthur would be content with whatever he decided to do.
Tumblr media
And then Arthur walked out <3 To take control of his destiny.

"My congratulations, Captain. A dazzling display of logic."
"You didn't think I had it in me, did you, Spock?" Kirk jokes, face full of love and affection. A teasing smile on his face.
"No sir." Spock replies, not even taking a second to consider the answer.
The fond smile falls, and Kirk's eyebrows pinch together slightly as he clearly feels disheartened by this sentiment.

Finally giving this piece its own post.
Drew this one back in May.

Redraw of the Scene 14 artwork from Kotteri's Veil. (Absolutely wonderful manga btw, go give it a read!) Had to do this redraw with Tal and Channel 29.
Channel 29 belongs to @oh-dear-charlie.

Sorry if someone's already made this poll I am just DYING to know if anyone else finds it hard to believe, as the show seems to expect us to do, that he entirely failed to notice both these things.
Speaking for myself, I can accept the possibility that Julian was clever enough to hide his enhancements from even a trained spy, especially given his decades of practice at it. But personally I just cannot believe Garak didn't at least suspect something was off when Julian got replaced.

Ivy’s sweater slipped off her left shoulder when she leaned forward, baring skin of golden cream to the morning sunlight. “Okay, I get that.” She didn’t notice when he nudged the sweater back in place with [telekinesis], the temperature too cold for her to be so exposed. [...] “How did they know your subdesignation so fast?” Her sweater slipped again and he nudged it back. “It usually takes time to be certain, even with genetic markers.” [...] Vasic glanced at her shoulder, nudged the sweater back up. This time, she noticed, color on her cheeks as her hand went up to the spot. “How many times?” “Five.” He got to his feet before he could make it six. “I need to rest.”

interesting but i do agree with the other reblog, in my opinion it’s more likely hoyo would make childe fight us based on tsaritsa’s orders than us turning on him ourselves. for me, I don’t see it as romantic(?) well we’ve seen how we’re probably the only ones childe trusts outside of his family (telling us about his abyss story since it was also mentioned he would never tell this to just anyone) but we know how extremely loyal and devoted he is to the tsaritsa(with how he carried out the whole releasing a monster to liyue thing even tho he himself said he was reluctant and didn’t like involving the weak/helpless). he’d probably be like “dont take it personal comrade, think of it as a rematch.” also maybe in natlan we will find out more about the tsaritsa’s goal and maybe it’s something the traveler cant agree on. but i dont know, that’s just what I think🥲
The problem is... It's the most obvious thing to do and so far Hoyo have avoided obvious things.
Would be a nice subversion of expectations if they end up doing the obvious thing exactly once, of course.
In other words, he's a bit too pathetic to be tragic in this way.
And also there's Skirk's prophecy about overturning the world, so he can't die before that is addressed.
