The outburst had Doorrat frozen in place. He watched for a moment as everything else happened. Sitting there deathly atill as he seemed to think of something. Despite that, though, once the phone started their Riddler, Doorrat made his way to Alice, sitting directly infront of her. He wasn't sure if it was to make her feel better, or him, but either way, it was for someone's comfort.

This was just like Crane, he thought to himself pitifully.

"Jervis," He began after a moment, rubbing his face. "Could you tell me about the pastries you made? I've never had anything like them." Despite Doorrat's earlier fear, his voice had an odd lucidity too it, as if he finally had accepted something. "Did you make them?"

Alice turned her palms upward towards the small critter, an invitation for him to stay close. For them all to stay close. Away from Jervis. Away from the Mad Hatter. Her fingers twitched ever so slightly at the thought, blood running cold in her veins all while Jervis settled.

"I can't cook very well. They're from the local bakery. They half expect me there each year by now, though they have no idea why. There's eclairs, Belgian buns, cinnabuns, small biscuits from England called digestives. You know they're awfully very good for you."

But all while talking, his eyes grew glassy, all weight and thunder to him rumbling back into a quiet pattering of rain. "Sweet tea. Chai tea. English breakfast tea. Early grey. Lady grey. And a-a-all sorts of pastries."

His face fell upon seeing the few people he held close practically cower at his outburst. Perhaps he really was mad. He knew he'd needed help, of course he had known that, but he thought - if not for a brief moment - that everything would go well.

He'd be functioning and an exemplary member of society.

He'd have proven Cates wrong.
