Just finished Centaurworld, feelin' good (one of those was a lie)

I tried to capture that thing centaurworld does with the animation lineart where centaurs have rugged lineart and animals/humans have smooth lineart so the idea came something like this -> The Nowhere king is full on centaur right?? MASSIVE LINEART

(Not me trying to hide the fact that idk how to draw elk feet by covering them up, nuh uh.)

So my brother and I watched The Last Lullaby yesterday and I want to say something about elktaur.

One of the hardest things for me while watching this show was getting used to the zany designs of the characters. It was hard to go from my expectation with Horse and Rider to a place where no one had noses, bodies were just shapes on shapes, and physics were a suggestion when it came to personhood. I had adjusted so much that I barely even realized that elktaur looked so weird until my second watch of it.

Elktaur looks like a human, right from the get go. He wears clothing on his top half that resembles that of the human world, his face is very realistic, he wears his hair back, and his horse half is very accurate to an elk including the hooves.

This means that he either spent enough time in the human world that he had been changed by it, or that he felt ostracized and out of place so much because his body was different. I like to think that it was the former.

He was different and felt more at home in the human world than he did centaurworld, so his body changed to adapt to that feeling like Horse's did when she accepted that she was part of centaurworld. Think about it, her first spell is cast when she begins to accept the way that things work in centaurworld and then her body changes when she realizes that she's part of the herd. Elktaur wanted to be human so badly, even before he fell in love with Woman.

Macaque, transforming back into himself from being Wukong's copy, tainted by jealousy and revenge, but also undying devotion.

The same level of love, of guilt, of imposter syndrome, of shifting blame.

Even if Wukong landed the fatal blow unknowingly, or was compelled to do so, it would still end the same.

And the Moon rising once more.
