Q/A below the cut

1: How many works do you have on AO3?

13 in one account, 5 in another (several anthologies, so who knows how to count ans I'm counting each as one, when one has 80 nearly standalone chapters now), 35 which were once published but sitting behind a shield, about 30 deleted, and 29 you can't prove are mine

2: What's your total AO3 wordcount?

3,000,000+, easy - it's way too hard to add up across all the obfuscation and dormancy

3: What fandoms do you write for?

In my life, about 17; one in particular has far more than the others

4: What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I wasn't able to predict most of these, but: Domestic Cencha (which is 100% due to it being really long, I'm guessing and which title I hate but I'm stuck with), Un Vero Amico (which is on brand), Cadera, TWWNT (which...whatever, okay), and Valentina

5: Do you respond to comments?

Nearly always, especially these days. Fandom is a conversation, and it makes me so happy that someone wants to take the time to talk to me, I feel terrible not at least thanking them. If I haven't responded to you, it's because I'm saving it until I can think through and say something worth hearing or because usually save this to do on the weekends.

6: What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Not even angst, but just depressing - Cha Young beating a bouquet of roses against Vincenzo's grave and screaming at him for dying wasn't cheerful. I don't know otherwise from ones I've signed, but I know there are some. There's worse ones not published.

7: What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Lots of them. Too many. I'm a sucker for a happy ending, which is a shame because I'm awful at writing them and will just tack something on that doesn't match or make logical sense.

I wrote the most saccharine, awful thing for [fandom redcated] because it's bothered me for roughly 35 years now that we never saw a happy ending for a ship. I've gotten one comment. I will never get another. It's so bad and twee and childish. So was the source material, in fairness.

8: Do you get hate on fics?

Yes.

9: Do you write smut fics?

Yes. With highly uneven results, but they're there. They exist. I'm writing one now for [redacted], and I'm not sure the fandom knows what to do with it because it's one of, like, 3 total.

10: Do you write crossovers?

No. Not to yuck anyone's yum, but almost none of these I see work well. It's rare to find someone who loves media like you; it's nearly never you find someone who loves two that have worlds or premises that match up well. I'm nowhere near good enough at writing to set a bar so much higher than plainass fanfic.

11: Have you ever had a fic stolen?

LOL, no. No one stole my 21 year old stick shift car with a water-damaged headlight either.

I've seen it done to people, though - as entire copy-and-pasted with character names changed and as heavy plagiarism, both. This hurts writers more than I think people can imagine; do not do this.

12: Have you ever had a fic translated?

Nope. I doubt there are people on earth with this amount of disposable leisure time to burn.

13: Have you ever co-written a fic?

Done it? No? Been asked to by people who bail pretty fast on the project? Yes indeed. A handful of times. That's...a whole feeling, too.

14: What is your all time favorite ship?

Probably Vincenzo/Cha Young. We'll see with the benefit of years-in-the-future hindsight, but they definitely rival MSR. Which says a lot. A lot a lot. That's probably more than we should be getting into at this late hour. 😉

15: What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Fuckity fuck, so many, in my current main I've. I've got at least 13 still open, and three times that in drafts that'll probably never see the light of day. So much enthusiasm is gone, and it's hard to feel enthusiasm or creativity in a vacuum. Sigh. Is what it is.

16: What are your writing strengths?

Ummmm...tension? I guess? Payoff thereof? Not that, definitely not that. But setting that up? Sure. Well-researched one-off remarks of factoids? I don't have any idea, honestly.

17: What are your writing weaknesses?

Finishing stuff? LOL. Pass.

18: Thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fics?

I need someone who actually knows how to speak to validate that it doesn't sound insane. Not even languages, but facts. Same as if I need to, I don't know, write a light aircraft plane crash and spent 9 hours researching exactly how it goes so no hobby pilotist comes at me to say how stupid it sounds. (This never happened. An ER doc told me something really overtly fantastical and tropey around medical stuff wasn't how things really go, though, and that I was wrong and it was hard for them to suspend belief and enjoy it. That was fun to get as a comment.)

19: First Fandom you wrote for?

Ah. Another toughie (or maybe being a lawyer makes categorical statements impossible). I beta read for years and years (TXF and TWW) and would sometimes collaborate on parts the author had trouble with, but I'm not claiming that since it's not mine. But God that was fun - watching genius up close like that. Same with now, watching one of my absolute favorite writers spin beauty out of thin air in a google doc - just so much joy, watching that.

Drabbles on live journal also probably don't count, of which I did many before actually posting something. I posted some very old things to ao3 that were written much longer ago than their "published" date, but I'm not sure how to count those. Nor ezines because who knows where that shit is. TXF was my first real fandom writing, but it was too intimidating to post back then (and feels too late now).

Of more recent times, a (very old) show brought me back to writing, and I remember getting comments once every, like, 8 weeks and would just go crazy with joy that it was being read. Some of those stories, one in particular, that I remember getting so excited to hear from people about, has 23 total comments (and most from one commenter) across 27 chapters 72,000 words. The joy-to-comment ratio was the highest on that one of all of mine, and whoever that person is I owe so much because their reading and joy about it brought me so much joy.

20: Favorite fic you've written?

Ever ever? It's a really hard question (I say once again) because, like, favorite is hard to define. Some are ones where one part turned out exactly how I wanted, but the rest not really, so that part is a favorite, but not the work as a whole.

Some things were just fun to imagine and therefore write, but not objectively good pieces of art.

Others, I had a lot of fun conversations with people in the comments, and this is my favorite part of fandom - spiraling and headcanoning, so those moments are far and above the ones I enjoyed most.

If forced to pick, what for some reason leaps to mind is one fic I wrote on twitter while sitting in a soul-crushingly boring meeting, while people live reacted and interacted as it slowly posted. That one - Fabio hires her - in my Vincenzo Shorts was the funnest. Of my fics, scheletri is funnest to plot out and write. Pizzeria was stupidly fun, too. Valentina i like 70% of and really should have ended as i meant to initially. But alas.

Lemme start by saying that I am a writer in NO ABSOLUTE WAY. I barely read compared to avid book readers. But I LOVE fanfics. I am in no way capable of finding deep literary meaning or write character essays., I read for FFs for fix its, character analysis, to grin over my fav ship being all smushy and to feel an ache for the angst. And yes, the smut. Sometimes, for the tears. I wanna say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who post their writing for Chayenzo. Vincenzo headcannon

After three years of being the Cassano mafia boss and taking care (wiping out) their rivals aka Lucianos and relocsting the Cassanos to their original home cack in Italy after the disaster that was Paolo's leading, Vincenzo readily gives the job to someone else, say his cousin and his wife is the main consigliere of the family now.

He does not have many responsibilities but because of his connections, reputation, skills, bonds and the fact he cannot just part with the mafia, Vincenzo becomes a part-time consigliere where Ie usually becomes an ambassador of sorts cleaning up the trash (like babel but like 10% downscale). His main job is to take care of and run the safe haven that is Pagliuzza and it's residents. So Vin gets in touch with Mr Ahn and Mr Cho where they have cleared his name and created a new identity and personal particulars with the name Oh Joo Hyung.

Vinny takes the legal exam to become a lawyer in Korea and gets his license online (idk if it's real bear with me here it's a headcanon).

After the initial shock and get-together of the Geumga Plaza, Jipuragi has an additional member to its growing team of one paralegal and paralegal in training, one hell of a tenacious lawyer who also dubs as a CEO and three interning lawyers, an new lawyer by the name Oh Joo Hyung arrives.

And there is gossip from the interns that the two older, experienced lawyers are long lost lovers who reunited from their long distance relationship and decided to work back to strengthen their marriage.

Our resident couple decides to humour them and the other teamts as well, mainly because why not.

And besides, it's not like a confirmed relationship on paper to show the government is gonna change their dynamic of finger flicks bets on whose method of convincing their witnesses or where they sleep together in the fluffy bedroom of the mini apartment, where a certain pigeon has visited again after a three-year-long break and has learnt manners, to increase convinience, or its tying up money-hungry detective and threatening them by kicking the wheeled chair off an abandoned building.

Their marriage is not a big deal. It just happens so suddenly and secretly. It starts with him casually joking about it in one of their pillow talks.

This leads to her sending him an envelope via post which contained a contract for the registration of a marriage certificate with her signature already on it.

He returns it to her casually the next day along with the other documents for their current case, followed by a box. Form signed and a box containing a ring. Her ring. She raises an eyebrow and catches the sight of his left hand's ring finger already sporting a platinum band with a plate encrusting small diamonds. No wonder he had shoved that hand in his pocket long than usual. From her desk, she could see that bastard smirking like no tomorrow, hiding behind his papers.

After everyone has left and it's just the two of them, Vincenzo well now Joo Hyung is now stopped by Cha Young straddling him holding out the box to him

"I don't recall you asking me to marry you"

"I definitely did, remember three years back? Surrounded by an orchestra and flashing cameras? And art gallery was it? Ragusang. You forgot to process the papers so they were delayed sweetie."

"Omo! Yah, that wasn't you it was Mr Anderson wasn't it darling"

"Hmmm, fair point."

*takes ring and holds it out but instead of and awkward hesitancy, he leans into her ear and asks*

"Will you marry me"

*she smirks and pulls him by his tie to crash their lips together as he slips the ring onto her finger*

"I better go process the registration then."

"Hmmm, yeah you do that, makgeolli and ramyeon tonight?"

"Add fried chicken, beef jerky and pajeon as well. Oohh! Also buy soju and wine and whiskey. I wanna get wasted tonight. Ah! It's a great day to be alive!"

The next day Mr Nam sees their hands and sends a picture to the Geumga plaza chat group the photo.

It blows up with replies varying from "Finally!" "Why weren't we invited, I made him my baby girl's godfather" "He's a mafia you idiot, we cant be there for safety reasons." "Wait, they were not married three years ago?"

For Vincenzo and Cha Young, weddings were a waste of time and money and an unhealthy amount of words and worries That doesn't mean they didn't go to Pagliuzza for their honeymoon, rather honey month, and took endless wedding photos with Cha Yong rocking every dress from satin ball gowns to mermaid styled body cons with tulle accents and to velvet evening dresses.

The love that Vincenzo and Cha Young have for each other is so pure, selfless, and unflinching that the two would literally give up their life for each other without hesitation. it’s the kind of love that bonds one half of a soul to the other- the kind of love that melds two beings together with the feeling of completeness and the knowledge that despite any jagged edges that either half may have, that the two will always fit together perfectly as one whole. that unconditional love is the beating heart of this story, and it is the reason why Vincenzo and Cha Young are bound by fate neither can exist without their other half now that they know what it’s like to finally feel complete. Yeah, the headcanon that Vincenzo, in one of his few visits to Korea, gets married to Cha Young in a courthouse ceremony using his Korean name while avoiding the authorities will live rent-free in my head.

(Or they can do it in Italy. I'm not picky.)

On a side note, I can totally picture Vincenzo and Cha Young loving Under the Queen’s Umbrella. All the politics, outsmarting moves, and the brazenness of characters (especially the Queen and the Dowager Queen) is right up their alley.

Just imagine the two of them curled up on their couch every weekend, sipping wine and just enjoying the show. One of the characters does something conniving, and both Vincenzo and Cha Young start theorising on how the other character should respond to outwit their opponent, and what they’d do if they were in that character’s shoes. Of course, when she’s feeling a bit dramatic, Cha Young starts talking as if she’s in a sageuk, even calling Vincenzo Jeonha..
