Here’s the fourth ship!! Rigel x Leo, AKA, NewsSpots. Leo is another Ramshackle OC. I’ve created SO MANY scenarios about how these two would meet. Here’s my favorite.

It was a normal day, just like any other day. Cen and Rigel were out selling the Sunday papers, the warm sun beaming down on them. Suddenly, Cen’s hat is snatched off his head by a rival Newsie. He gives chase after the other Newsie, leaving Rigel to himself. Rigel knew that he was perfectly capable of selling papers by himself, but he would have preferred for Cen to be by his side.

After a while, Cen had still not returned. He paused to take a look around for his other half. As he walked around, a fair distance between him and the stack of his newspapers, he suddenly noticed a girl around his age being picked on by some rich kids. Something about her looking like a dog with all the pale spots and splotches on her skin. However, instead of tears, her face was determined. In a flash, she kicked the nearest kid right in the shins. The kid doubled over in pain and the girl stood tall and proud. She was clearly not gonna take anybody’s shit.

She harrumphed and walked off, unbeknownst to her, in the direction of Rigel. Rigel himself was amused. He was impressed by this girl’s boldness, despite clearly being a rich kid. She suddenly spotted him watching her. Rigel, slightly embarrassed that he was caught, timidly waves. She seemed surprised, but then she smiled and waved back. She walked towards him and asked him what he was doing. Rigel told her that he was selling papers with his brother, but he wasn’t sure where his brother was.

The girl smiled and introduced herself as Leo. Rigel introduced himself as well. Leo asked, out of pure curiosity, if she could stay with him for a while, just to see how being a Newsie was. Being rich, she never had to work for anything, so the fact that this boy around her age had to work to make his living was fascinating to her.

Rigel was ecstatic. He grinned and handed her his newspaper bag which she draped around her bust. They walked around town selling newspapers, extra sales coming in due to Leo’s charisma and charm. Also, the fact that she was rich made sales especially prominent. After the day had ended, Leo had Rigel completely wrapped around her finger. She was bold, confident, and beautiful; she was everything that Rigel could ever want.

And even despite the HUGE social class differences, Leo felt the same way about Rigel. She found him sincere and genuine, a stark contrast to all the other rich kids she’s met. But that’s just it; Rigel wasn’t rich. He was a Scrap, the very people she had been warned about, the ones she’d been told to avoid. But standing so close to him, laughing and talking, well, he didn’t seem so different from her. He was a kid, just like her.

Rigel began sharing his poetry with her. Not long after meeting her, he even began to dedicate his poems, now odes, to Leo. He loved outlining the patterns that her vitiligo made on her skin with his fingers. Soon, the trio and Leo’s family found out, and surprisingly, the trio was a little more wary than Leo’s family. Leo’s sisters didn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, they were happy. Soon, the Scraps of the Entertainment Square, mainly the trio, started to come over to the huge mansion in which this kind, rich family lived.

But that’s lore that I’ll save for another time.
