Tree-kun was just minding his own business during the night. It was boring and isolated life, sure he was surrounded with other trees but they never talk to him or even acknowledge him. Although he was surrounded with people he couldn't feel anymore alone.
But then he wasn't
This cute boy named Tyler fell on top of him. And he just couldn't believe his luck. Someone who chose him, Tree-kun didn't need to feel alone anymore. He had all that he needed here with him. They spent the whole night in eachothers company, Tree-kun tried to talk to Tyler but the boy remained quiet. Maybe he's just shy, Tree-kun thought to himself. He did had a tendency of talking too much or talking too loudly it put people off sometimes. But he had so many stories to anyone. Spending his whole life alone made it so he had alot of stories to tell.
The next day was peaceful. Tree-kun was finally happy. It's been less than a day, but Tree-kun didn't know what he would without Tyler. Everything was right in the world.
Of course that was until they came along.
It was a group of 5 teenagers. They look the same age as Tree-kun and senpai. They placed a ladder on him. How dare they?! Not even a "hello" and they start putting stuff on him. Who gave them the right?
His rage burned inside him. Until they picked up Tyler. "S-Senpai?" He hated how timid his voice sounded. They carried Tyler away from him. He wanted to chase after them, he wanted to yell at them, to tell them to give Tyler back. But he couldn't. He wasn't strong enough
And here he was again. Alone like always

A few hours before the wedding... (reader is referred to as wife)
"What are you doing?" you giggle as Chan peeks his head through your changing room.
"I'm here to see my future wife," he grins at you, his dimples full on display.
"Nooo don't come in. It's bad omen for you to see me," you shoo him away but the smile on your face betrays you. Truth is, you were glad he was here. The wedding was set to start in a few hours, and you've been feeling a little nervous without him by your side.
"Honey, even if the entire universe stands against us, they wouldn't be able to stop me from marrying you." He reassures as he walks towards you, hands deep inside his pockets, his black tie loosely hanging from his collar.
"Oh, yeah?" you beam at him, lacing your hands around his neck as soon as he's in front of you.
"Mm," he hums, before leaning in to capture your lips in a sweet kiss. "Missed you," he mumbles against your mouth and you smile into the kiss, "missed you more."
Chan pulls away before leaning his forehead against yours. His hand finds your own and he brings it to his mouth, placing a gentle kiss on your palm. His touch is so tender; you are suddenly hit by the realization that you're the only one he will love this way for the rest of his life.
Tears prickle at the corner of your eyes and you clear your throat to ride out this wave of emotion. Leave the crying to the wedding, you remind yourself.
"Be honest with me," you grin knowingly at Chan. "You are only here because you can't do your tie yourself."
"Whaaaat? I'm here because I missed you."
"And?" you watch amusedly as Chan fiddles with his right earlobe, his eyes looking up at the ceiling.
"And... I suppose you are the only one who can tie it for me." You giggle at the blush dusting his cheeks. Adorable.
"Come here, you big baby. How will you ever survive without me?"
"I won't."

Secret's Out
This is a mini-fic based on the series "Secret Secret" by the lovely @hornyfor-redacted-onmain
I was awake at 4am the other night and in order to fall asleep I thought of a way that the reader gets exposed as an omega to the rest of the Stray Kids members!
An alternate smut ending can be read here
ABO!OT8 x Reader
Summary: the skz comeback has begun and you’re at the first hotel of the tour. What’s gonna happen when you get a panicked call from Chan during a dance rehearsal? Will you be able to keep your omega nature hidden?
Warnings: Felix in distress, Minho gets pissed, Chan is losing it, cursing, abo dynamics, dubcon if you squint, Y/N used four times, probably incorrect assumptions about Korean hotels
You arrived at the first hotel of the tour feeling exhausted. The drive from Guangdong to Gangseo wasn’t necessarily long, but it was stressful nonetheless. Being squished in the backseat between Hyunjin and Jisung definitely wasn’t comfortable, but since you were smaller than the boys there wasn’t much of a choice.
The hotel was way fancier than any you’ve been to before. The lobby had a completely open floor plan, complete with marble tiles and floor to ceiling windows. You stood to the side while Chan and Soojin got everyone checked in. Thankfully it didn’t take long. You were dying to get to your room and flop down for a nap. Soojin handed out the key cards, and luckily you were rooming with Maya.
Applying my scent blockers and pheromone perfume is gonna be a challenge, you thought as the elevator swiftly rose to the third floor. All of the stylists and staff members were on the third floor while the boys had rooms on the fifth. And the main reason for choosing this hotel: a fully equipped dance studio on the bottom level. It’s best not to wander too far since the boys could be easily recognized, even with masks and hats on. You and Maya quickly settled into the room. It was time for a quick 30 minute (or maybe 2 hour) nap.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was the third day at this hotel and you were working on translating more promotional posters on your laptop. Maya left hours ago to coordinate with the other stylists for tomorrow’s performance. You doubted she would be back before dinner. Your train of thought was interrupted by your phone buzzing. You had to dig around the blankets, but you found that it was Chan calling. Your eyebrows pinched together, confused by him calling in the middle of rehearsal.
“Chan? What-” you were cut off by the idol’s panicked breathing.
“Felix collapsed. Minho said it’s a subdrop, and none of our scents are bringing him back. I don’t know what to do, this is my fault!” You felt a rush of worry down your spine. A subdrop right after a heat meant Felix was in serious emotional turmoil.
“I’m coming, I’ll be down in less than five minutes. Make sure Felix is comfortable and in a safe place,” you ordered. You didn’t give Chan the time to answer, opting to hang up and sprint toward the studio. You hesitated for a second at the elevators before slamming the door to the stairwell open. Your lungs burned as you ran down the stairs at top speed, sometimes skipping several steps at a time.
“Where is he?” You shoved past Minho and Jeongin. Chan and Jisung knelt at Felix’s side. Fear and panic permeated the scents of every member, nearly overwhelming your keen sense of smell.
“None of our scents are bringing him back. Not the alphas, not the betas.” Jisung choked on his tears. He locked into your gaze, eyes rimmed with red.
“Y/N, is he going to be okay?” Chan practically begged you. He was obviously holding back his own emotions. He had to be strong for his pack. But he and his inner alpha were panicked and angry, not at Felix, at himself.
“I’ve seen this before. When I was at university, one of my classmates was an omega. He went into subdrop after an alpha harassed him all semester,” you lean down and check the younger omega for injuries. “Felix’s omega is rejecting alpha pheromones because it was an alpha that caused his turmoil.”
“How do we fix it?” Minho’s voice was strained. He didn’t like that he couldn’t help his packmate.
“He needs an omega’s scent. That’s what got my classmate to wake up.” Your eyes darted around the studio. “Where’s Seungmin?!”
“Oh my god, he stayed in our room because he had a headache. He was planning to come down after lunch,” Jeongin said. “Should I go get him?”
“No. The longer Felix is in the drop, the harder it is to come out of it.” You gently brushed Felix’s bangs out of his eyes. You knew it would be up to you to help the whimpering omega. Your own omega was screaming at you to protect.
“Is he going to die?!” Jisung clapped his hand over his mouth. Panic surged through the air.
“No! Absolutely not.” You licked the scent glands on your wrist and aggressively rubbed at your neck’s glands. Luckily, you were only wearing the scent blocker.
“What the hell are you… doing…” Minho trailed off as your real scent flowed through the air. You could feel everyone staring at you, but you focused solely on Felix.
“Come on, Felix. Come back to us.” You held your wrist up to his nose. He didn’t move. You huffed in annoyance at the alphas crowding around you.
“Back up! You’re making this more difficult with your alpha stink,” you snapped. Minho glared, but allowed Changbin to pull him back. Your scent was still partially blocked out, your wrist glands weren’t going to cut it.
You moved to straddle Felix’s lap, pulling the blonde to sit up. The other boys made various sounds of shock at your boldness. You ignored them. You quickly pushed his nose into the crook of your neck, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. You felt him take a deep breath, exhaling slowly.
“Come on, sweet boy, come back,” you whispered into the crown of his head. Felix jolted. His fear filled eyes met with yours. Tears flooded his lash line.
“Omega?” Your heart clenched at the weakness in Felix’s voice. Your hands moved to cup his cheeks. Felix sobbed and buried his face into your neck again, squeezing your middle in a crushing hug.
“It’s okay, Felix. I’ve got you. You’re safe.” You gently swayed and ran a gentle hand through his hair. Despite your own anxiety, you managed to keep your scent soothing. The younger omega nuzzled into your neck and cheek, scenting you out of instinct. You chuckled with a small shake of your head. You were beyond relieved that you were able to help. You pressed a small kiss to Felix’s scent gland to further calm the boy.
“I- fuck, I need to step out,” Chan broke you from your stupor. He slammed the studio doors open and rushed out.
“I’ll go check on him,” Hyunjin followed the agitated alpha to the hallway.
“Alphas are so dramatic,” you clicked your tongue. Felix giggled and pulled his head back. “Hey, there’s that pretty smile!”
“I’m sorry. Y/N, I’m so sorry I made you-”
“Shh, Felix it’s okay. They were going to find out eventually. I’m just happy that you’re awake. My omega went nuts when Chan said you dropped.” You tucked Felix’s bangs behind his ear with a gentle smile.
“Uh, is this a bad time to say that this is really hot?”
“Changbin!” You whipped your head around to scold the young beta. “Yes, this is a very inappropriate time to say something like that.”
“Sorry! I’m sorry, but, I mean, look at you,” he gestured to your current position. “You’re sitting in Felix’s lap, his hands are on your thighs, and your scents are mixing in the most delicious way.” Felix flushed a deep red.
“Bin, you made Felix uncomfortable!” Jisung joined you in scolding his bad behavior.
“Do you want me to move?” You sighed, looking at the blushing omega.
“Y-yeah, as long as I can hold your hand. And keep your leg touching mine!” You sat criss-cross next to Felix, pressing your thigh into his. He squeezed your hand, and you returned the gesture.
“Right, so Chan-hyung had to leave because he apparently couldn’t handle the smell of both omegas. He said that his alpha was going wild seeing Felix scent Y/N.” Hyunjin strolled back into the studio. Seungmin trailed in behind him with a cooling patch on his forehead.
“Jeongin, I got your text. Is everything okay?” He paused, sniffed at the air, and rushed up to you and Felix, grinning widely. The youngest omega plopped down behind you, wrapping his arms around your middle and resting his forehead on the back of your neck.
“I thought you were a beta! This is so cool, we have another omega,” Seungmin gushed, although his voice was muffled by your t-shirt. He sighed happily. “Your and Felix’s scents are helping my headache way better than any aspirin.”
“Awe, I’m glad I could help,” you cooed. You reached a hand behind you to run a hand through Seungmin’s bedhead.
“Why did you lie about your presentation?” Minho’s sharp voice broke the serene moment between the three omegas. Your hand dropped to your lap.
“I’m sorry I lied to you, but it was necessary. Working as a translator for JYP has been my dream job for forever.” You looked up at the alpha. He stood with his arms crossed over his chest.
“JYP doesn’t hire omegas. So you lied, used scent blockers, and an artificial scent to pretend to be a beta? To get a job?” You bristled at the accusatory tone in Minho’s voice.
“Yes, I did. And I’d do it again.” Minho pressed his lips into a thin line. He was annoyed, angry, but most of all defensive over his packmates.
“Does Chan know?” Changbin cut in, worry evident in his voice.
“Yeah, he knows,” you sighed and pinched the bridge of your nose.
“And how is it that Chan and Felix know, but the rest of us are left in the dark?” Minho once again took the reigns of the impromptu interrogation. Felix’s jaw tensed. He glared at the floor. You could tell that he was embarrassed about the real way you and Chan met, and how he learned your secret.
“Felix actually caught me first,” you started. The blonde’s eyes snapped up to yours. “He saw me at a cafe without the scent blockers and perfume. I explained everything, and Felix promised to keep my secret as long as Chan was aware.” You knew you shouldn’t have lied again, but the relief that washed over Felix negated the guilt bubbling in your stomach.
“I understand if you want to report me to management,” you sighed. You figured this would happen at some point, but the disappointment hit hard.
“NO!” You jumped when Felix and Seungmin yelled and tightened their hold on you. “We are absolutely not reporting her.”
“Felix, she lied. Why would you want her as our staff member?!” Minho shook his head in disbelief.
“I don’t want to report her, either, hyung. She’s really nice, a great translator, and her scent is so comforting.” You were honestly surprised that Seungmin was arguing in your defense. You thought he hated you. Minho’s gaze flickered between the two omegas of the group. Neither backed down, meeting his gaze with steely determination.
The staring contest was interrupted by the studio door opening again. Chan ran a hand over his face.
“Sorry I left. Is Felix okay?” Chan nearly choked on his own spit as he took in the scene before him. His two omegas, cuddled up to you. All three of your scents mixed together. If he thought his alpha was intense before, he was going into absolute overdrive now.
“Fuck!” He cursed and pressed his hands into his eyes before dropping them to his sides. He drank in the sight of the three omegas. He stalked forward, eyes predatory. You could practically feel his alpha pushing to the surface. You subtly moved in front of the younger omegas, your instincts screaming at you to protect them. Chan got too close for your omega’s liking and you growled, slightly baring your teeth.
“Did you just growl at me, omega?” He scoffed. The attitude switch from calm and protective leader to predator left the younger omegas and the betas on edge. You felt the boys cling onto you tighter. Your instinct to listen to the alpha clashed with your instinct to protect your juniors.
“You think you can intimidate me by using my title?” You sneered at him. The muscle in his jaw twitched in agitation. “Pull your shit together, Chan. You are scaring them!” Chan finally seemed to realize that most of his pack was tensed, ready to fight or flee when he made a move.
“Jisung, Changbin, Jeongin. Take them back to Y/N’s room.” Chan said through gritted teeth. The three betas hesitated. “Now!”
“Chan-”
“Save it, Hyunjin. They need to get the omegas out of here while I still have control of my alpha. It’s taking all of my willpower to keep him back from forcing her to submit.” Your eyes widened in shock.
“Get up, we’re leaving.” You stood, dragging the boys still glued to your side to their feet. The betas walked between the omegas and Chan, eyeing their leader wearily. You lead the group up to your room, pulling Felix and Seungmin in behind you.
“We’ll make sure the alphas, especially Chan, calm down. Keep them safe, please,” Jisung’s voice was tired. You exchanged strained smiles before closing your door. You sighed heavily. The younger omegas looked at you with wide eyes.
“You wanna make a cuddle puddle and nap?”
Hi! I loved ur hyunjin fic! I was reading chapter 2 again and the part where hyunjin is drunk got me wondering about drunk minho confessing his feeling to u. Like, u two are best friends and roommates so when u finally get him to ur apartment and get him into his bed he asks u to stay with him and confesses his feelings to u. 🫠🥴
Thank you for the request!! I hope you like it.
Warnings: I don't think there's any, it's just drunk Lino and fluff.
You are waiting outside your friend's house, the cold breeze making you shiver. The door opens and you feel the smell of alcohol, how much did they drink?
Changbin has his hair all disheveled and a hole on his shirt, you don't even want to know what the hell happened there since they always do the craziest shit when they are drunk together.
You are usually with them, being the person who stops them from starting a fire, but your finals are coming up and you had to stay home studying while Minho went out to meet them.
Minho's been your best friend since 7th grade when he picked a fight with a guy who was bullying you. From that moment on you did everything together, had lunch, studied, went to cybercafes and you even got lucky enough to be placed in the same high school.
You had to part ways when he moved to Seoul after getting into one of the major entertainment companies in the country as a trainee. Later on you got accepted into the university you always dreamed about and moved in with him.
It didn't take much time for you to befriend the rest of the boys, they were always in your shared apartment or you were at the dorms visiting.
You had lunch with Chan earlier in the day to celebrate his birthday so you didn't feel so bad about missing his birthday party.
The guys are acting exactly like you expected them to. Chan is laying asleep on the sofa while Seungmin tries to write something on his face with a pen. Felix and Jeongin are seated on the floor, eating snacks and laughing while looking at the ceiling. Changbin is by your side, but honestly, he can't even keep standing without leaning on the wall, you don't know how in this situation he was able to type the message he sent you asking to come pick Minho up. Han and Hyunjin are having some really deep conversation about art and music and Lee know is seated in the middle of the sofa, legs open, elbows resting on his knees while clasping his hands, looking really focused in a spot on the floor.
"Min, let's go", you speak to him trying to get his attention. He looks at you and frowns.
"I don't know you", he answers.
"It's me, Y/N, of course you know me"
"Nah-ah! Y/N is much prettier", you scoff not knowing if you should feel grateful or offended.
"Thank you, I guess. Let's go, I'm going to take you home", you say and he suddenly gets up, walking in your direction.
"Is Y/N there? I have to talk to her"
You chuckle, looking around trying to get some help but there's no one, they are all too wasted.
"Yeah, sure, she asked me to pick you up", you play into his game, anything so you can take him home. He nods, walking towards the door and leaving you behind.
The car ride is silent, you guess he doesn't want to talk to some "stranger". Your apartment is not far away from the dorms, so in less than 20 minutes you're parking.
Lee Know mumbles a thank you before getting out of the car and walking into your building. You lock the car and follow him, using the stairs to go up since he's using the elevator.
You open the door to your apartment and put some water to boil, he'll need some honey water before going to sleep. You hear the beeps on the door and wait for him to show up in the kitchen. When he sees you, he smirks.
"There was a strange woman trying to seduce me", he says and you choke on the air you just breathe, that's not how you thought he would describe your interaction.
"What?"
"Yeah, that woman you sent to pick me up, she was hitting on me but I didn't even give her the time of day", he says looking too proud of himself.
"And why is that? Wasn't she pretty?", you ask, putting the boiled water in a mug with honey.
"Yeah, but I only have eyes for you", he answers nonchalantly and you feel your cheeks burn.
'Get a grip, Y/N, you can't be swayed by his drunken flirting', you think to yourself.
"Drink this and stop talking nonsense", you hand the mug over to him and head to his room.
You open the wardrobe, searching for some pajamas for him, you put it on his desk and begin getting the bed ready. When you glance at the door he's right there, leaning on the frame with the mug in his hands.
"Jesus, make some noise when you walk", you notice he's more focused, looking more sober. "How are you feeling?"
"I like you", he says suddenly, making you turn all your body over to him. "I like you a lot"
You freeze, what is he talking about? Of course, you always heard snarky comments about how you two would end up together or sleep with each other while living in the same apartment and you do indeed have a crush on your best friend since the first time you saw him. But all these years you just brushed it off as a one sided love, so to hear him saying those words, it's kind of difficult to understand it completely.
"Min, you're drunk, don't talk so easily about this kind of thing"
"Who said it's easy? It hurts so much to hear you talk about your dates, about how you found someone cute and how they laughed at your jokes. I wanted to be that person but I'm not brave enough to tell you this while sober, I'm a fucking coward, too afraid of being rejected, too afraid of losing you", he says, running his hands through his hair.
You feel your chest sink, you never imagined he felt this way about you and even though you're happy, you're scared too. He's your best friend, what will you do if things don't work out?
"Even while drunk I can tell exactly what you're thinking", he chuckles. "Stop overthinking"
You think for a moment, letting your feelings decide and not your worries.
"Let's go to sleep and we can have a long conversation about this in the morning when you will be sober, okay? I don't want to confess to you if there's a possibility you won't remember it tomorrow", he nods, smiling. You give him good night, walking to the door, but before you can reach it Minho grabs your wrist, turning you around to look at him.
"Can't you stay with me tonight? I won't do anything weird"
You chuckle, you slept in the same bed a hundred times, it's funny that he finds it necessary to make that clear just because he told you he likes you.
"I know you won't", you sigh, thinking whether this is a good idea or not. "I'll just change and come back, you too get ready for bed", he nods seeing you going out of the room.
While staring at your beautiful sleeping face Minho can't stop thinking about everything he has to tell you. How much he loves you, for how long he's been in love with you and all the things he wants to do with you.
“You can and you will. Your drift compatibility is 98% and you have similar fighting style and come from similar machines. You’ll start Conn-pod training tomorrow.”
“Don’t make me partner with her. I don’t like her.”
The Marshall stands. “One day you might learn that if you give people a chance, you’d like what you find.”
“Marshall-”
“That’s all, Ranger.”
The air feels heavy as Jihoon leaves the Marshall’s office. He stops on the command deck, his eyes flickering over to the windows. The glass is floor to ceiling all the way around, giving the tower a 360-degree view of the pacific ocean. Blue stretches out as far as the eye can see, backdropped by the shining silver of the city.
Boats bob on the water, shifting back and forth on the dark surface. Air teams go back and forth, working in the aftermath of Chan and Wylie’s successful kaiju destruction. Jihoon can see the toxicity on the surface of the water, an oil slick that he knows the exact pungent smell of.
Trailing to an observation window, he stares with unseeing eyes. How many times had he stood up here and provided commentary to his friends during a fight? He didn’t frequent the command deck, but sometimes it gave him perspective. Or he was a little worried about his friends, especially when they were taking on higher category kaiju.
Jihoon chews on the side of his lip. He’s talked Wylie and Chan through plenty of bouts before. He remembers sharply the terror of the fight that had changed all of their lives over a year ago, watching as the hull of Fang Striker was breached, the screams of terror as Wylie took a talon to the stomach, nearly killing her. The aftermath of Chan’s grief.
A chill breaks out over his arms. Jihoon knows he isn’t cut out to sit through something like that again, to try and get a panicking pilot to focus and get to safety. He’s not made for an advisory role. Not built to watch pilots come and go, completely operating out of his control.
Death is easier to process in the heat of battle. It gives him an excuse to be distracted, to hide from the immediate pain of losing a pilot during a fight because he’s too busy protecting himself, protecting the city. He’s not made to watch it from afar and take the full weight of it.
Turning away from the window, Jihoon descends back down to the ground floor.
Probation period. Three months of having to stomach you or he’s out. Flexing his fingers, he heads to his room, needing the silence. If Jihoon is going to do this, he knows he needs to keep himself in line. Can’t push you away like he has the others.
And he hates you for it.
All the times you fell in love with Chan
Pairing: Chan x femReader (mention of Minho | short mention of ot8)
Word Count: 3505
Summary: Falling for Chan has happened in small stages, and some moments stuck out: making time for you after his live streams, taking care of you as you're on your period, teaching you how to slow dance and many more...
Warnings/Tags: fluff, friends to lovers, cuddles, mentions of insomnia
A/N: Just a collection of short drabbles/scenarios with Chan🤭~ Moon🌙
You’ve known Chan your whole life and growing up you tried not to think of him as more than your big brother and best friend. Nevertheless, you found yourself falling for him steadily and thinking back there are a few moments only increasing your feelings for him…
One
Chan smiles softly, watching you fool around with Seungmin and Minho, smacking a pillow onto the first's head. Minho starts laughing at Seungmin's baffled look and lets you hide behind him as the younger one seeks revenge.
"I'm sorry," you giggle and jump up, running away. Seungmin races after you, and you quickly hide behind Chan.
Chan giggles and reaches back, hands grabbing your sides. "Need an escape?" he asks.
"Yes, please," you laugh, and he grabs your hand, pulling you after him. The pair of you race up the stairs, and Chan quickly pulls you into his room, slamming the door closed. You find yourself pressed against the door as he locks the door, still laughing softly. You giggle breathlessly and look at him, amused. “Good morning, by the way.”
“Morning, dear,” he chuckles before taking a step back.
You make your way over to his bed and throw yourself onto it, pulling out your phone. “Give him five minutes, then he’ll be busy chasing someone else.” Chan snorts before joining you on his bed, staring at the ceiling. He yawns and rubs his face tiredly. You glance at him and frown softly. “How did you sleep?”
“Do I really look that bad?” he asks, contorting his face.
Putting your phone away, you teasingly poke his cheek. “Only a little.”
“Fuck off,” he mutters beneath his breath and squirms away as you tickle his side. “Stop that!”
You smirk and calmly rest your head on his chest. “You had trouble sleeping again?”
“It’s my own fault, honestly. I needed to finish that new song, and once I was done, I wasn’t feeling tired anymore,” he sighs.
“You’re an idiot,” you tell him kindly and yelp, surprised as Chan pulls you on top of him.
Chan smirks up at you and hugs you close. “I know I am.”
You smile at him and fondly roll your eyes. “We could just stay here for a while. Take a nap.”
“Yeah?” he asks, eyes growing incredibly soft.
“Yeah,” you nod and quickly make yourself comfortable on his chest as you start blushing. Chan has been your best friend for years, but now that you are both older, some things have changed. His hugs are still comforting as ever, but there’s a different type of intimacy to it.
Two
Knowing how much Chan struggled throughout the training phase, especially before finally debuting, you loved nothing more than seeing him truly happy. When you first visited after their debut and met all his members, you could tell how proud he was of them. What stood out to you was how much the younger ones seemed to adore him and vice versa. They all welcomed you warmly, making sure you felt at home for the week you stayed with them. Chan started to miss you quite quickly again every time, so you found yourself back in Seoul more often than you could count. Changbin once jokingly mentioned you were their secret ninth member already, and Minho called you his little sister. With every visit, the time you stayed got longer, and your bond with each of them deepened. So when your university suggested studying abroad for a year, you knew where to go.
You make your way through the airport, pulling your suitcase after you, and try to figure out where to find the closest cab. Your phone buzzes in your pants pocket, and you curse softly to yourself as you fumble for it, still staring up at the many screens and signs. You take the call without even looking at who called you and finally spot the directions for the cabs. “Y/N L/N speaking?”
The moment you hear his giggle, you know who it is. “You picked up without looking again?”
“Sorry, I’m currently at the airport and trying to find my way out of here,” you laugh.
“May I help you with that?” he asks, and you suddenly hear his voice double.
You turn around stunned and stare right into his soft brown eyes. “Chan,” you breathe out, the phone still pressed to your ear.
“Welcome back, dear,” he says before ending the call. He pulls you into a tight hug and sways with you from feet to feet. “Gosh, I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Channie,” you smile and hug him back tightly. “Won’t be leaving that soon this time. You’re sure you can cope with me for a whole year?”
“I could cope with you forever,” Chan says quietly, and you pull back, searching his eyes.
“I’ll ask you about that again when we say goodbye in a year,” you tell him, only halfheartedly teasing.
Chan smiles at you fondly, his dimples appearing, making him look very soft. When the hell did he become so pretty? “My answer will be the same.”
Three
You sigh softly and close your laptop, finally done with all of your online classes for the day. Starting your period this morning, you aren’t in the best mood, and you’re glad the boys are all busy working somewhere else. It gets really hard pretending to function and having fun whilst you're internally dying because of the pain. You bury your head in your arms on your laptop as another cramp hits you and bite back a groan.
“You’re okay?”
You look up, slowly sitting up straight again, and meet Chan’s worried eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine,” you nod quickly.
Chan spots your favorite mug and the package of teabags next to you. He strolls over, takes it, and realizes it’s the tea you drink to ease your cramps. “That time of the month again already?” he asks, and you blink at him.
“Uh, yeah,” you say quietly, blushing a little.
“Bad day?” he asks, and you simply nod. “You’re done with school for the day?”
“Yeah, luckily,” you tell him.
“Alright, go pack up your things and meet me in my room after, alright?”
“Okay?” you nod, confused.
“Also, you can grab a pair of my sweatpants and put them on,” he tells you. “They’re probably more comfortable than your fitting ones right now.”
You stare at him, stunned for a moment. “But…uhm, what if, you know,” you ramble, not quite knowing how to say it. “They’re really strong right now, what if the blood-.”
“It’s okay,” he assures you. “I wouldn’t mind, honestly.”
“Oh, okay,” you nod slowly, taking your laptop as he hands it to you. He sends you off with a patient smile, and you turn back around, halfway up the stairs.”Chan?”
“Yes, you can take a sweater as well,” he tells you, not even looking in your direction as he makes some more tea for you. He grins to himself as you laugh at him knowing exactly what you wanted.
Chan was right, his sweatpants that sit more loosely around your hips feel a lot better. Also, the comfortable sweater makes you feel warm and safe instantly. You make your way back to his room after changing and stop in the doorframe. “What is all that?” you ask, surprised.
A few of your favorite snacks and fresh tea are on the small table next to his bed. He’s currently checking the temperature of a heating pad, the package of your painkillers of choice sticking out of the pocket of his pants. “After last time, I wanted to be prepared,” he tells you, holding out the heating pad. “Is that alright?”
“Yeah, that’s perfect,” you nod, holding onto it. After coming here not even two months ago, you haven’t been prepared enough for your first period. No painkillers, tea, snacks, or anything to help you feel more comfortable. Of course, Chan had gone out to grab some stuff for you, but it was a shitty start for all of you.
“Uh, do you have everything you need?” he asks, covering his mattress with a warm, fuzzy blanket.
“Yeah,” you nod, still staring at him.
“I can still go and buy what you need, really, that’s no problem,” he assures you.
“It’s okay,” you tell him quietly, feeling tears brim your eyes. How fucking sweet was that?
Chan nods satisfied, and opens the window to let in some fresh air, knowing you felt hot quickly during your period. “You wanna watch a movie or something? I can still finish work later,” he tells you and turns around, frowning as you don’t answer. He spots the tears in your eyes, and his whole demeanor softens even more. “Oh, dear, that bad?” he asks softly, and you quickly shake your head.
“No, I just…didn’t expect all that,” you admit, and hug the heating pad close. “You didn’t have to do all that, you know.”
“I wanted to,” he assures you before stepping over and pulling you into a warm hug. “I want you to be as comfortable as possible, even if you feel like shit, okay?”
You bury your face in his chest and nod gently. “Okay,” you whisper.
“Now stop acting like I did something massive and come cuddle,” he giggles, and you make sure to remind him that this is, in fact, massive.
Four
You gently knock on Chan’s door before poking your head inside. “Channie?” you ask quietly, not sure if he’s currently doing a livestream.
He glances over at you, smiling as he spots you. “Yes, dear?”
“Do you have a few minutes?” you ask as he checks the time on his phone.
“I’m about to go live..but, what’s wrong?” he asks, almost sounding a little worried.
“Someone pissed me off, that’s all. It’s not that important, don’t worry,” you wave him off.
“Why don’t you go and have some hot chocolate or something? Felix made brownies today, I’m sure he’ll give you some,” he smirks and checks the time once more. “We can talk later? I’ll call you once I’m done.”
“Yeah?” you beam at him, making him giggle.
“Of course,” he laughs before waving you outside. “Piss off, I have work to do.”
-
He joins you downstairs later, plopping down onto the sofa heavily. You glance at him as he sits there with his eyes closed for a moment, seeming like he has to ground himself for a minute. Gently nudging his side, you tilt your head at him. “You’re alright?”
“Tired, that’s all,” he nods, opening his eyes and giving you a weak smile. “Didn’t get much sleep last night, and it’s starting to show.”
“Oh,” you nod and squint your eyes at him suspiciously. “You should get some sleep then.”
“No, I promised you to talk after the live,” he shakes his head firmly. “You’re important to me, so I want to have time for you when you need me.”
You gently pat his thigh, not noticing how he stiffens at the sudden touch. “That’s really sweet, you know?”
“So, what happened?” he asks curiously.
You start ranting about what happened today at work. He responds with little hums, encouraging you about doing the right thing as his head slowly grows heavier against your shoulder. As you continue your story, you feed him small bites of Felix’s brownies, and Chan sleepily lets you have your way of spoiling him. He tries to stay awake; he really does, but as soon as you start playing with his hair, massaging his scalp so softly, he can’t fight it anymore. You smile to yourself as you notice and pull him down with you onto the sofa. Chan cuddles into you in his sleep, wrapping his arms around you and holding you close. “Night, Channie,” you whisper, and he hums drowsily in response. Chan being all soft and sleepy is a sight you’d never get tired of.
Five
You groan frustratedly as you turn for the hundredth time tonight, still unable to sleep. You went to bed four hours ago once they all got back from their concert and called it a night. Back then, you weren’t really tired, but looking at your friends’ faces, you knew they were. There was no use in trying to keep them up. Nevertheless, you were unable to get any rest, tossing and turning since you went to bed.
You’ve tried reading a book, but your eyes started to hurt after a while. Then you went scrolling through your phone, and once you saw one or two too many edits of your best friend and started to question your feelings for him, once again, you threw that idea overboard as well. Now you’re lying awake, trying to convince yourself that Chan means nothing more than a big brother and best friend to you. You try and fail miserably, knowing you fell for the handsome softie quite a while ago.
After another twenty minutes of self-pitying and messing up your sheets, you throw on a sweater of Chan, which he forgot in your room today, and make your way downstairs quietly. Maybe watching some tv and hot chocolate would help you relax. You notice too late that the lights in the living room are on and bite back a sigh as you spot Chan. The one you wanted to avoid after all those thoughts before. You need a moment to notice Minho as well, curled up next to Chan, head resting in his lap. He seems to be asleep peacefully as Chan’s mindlessly playing with his hair and watching tv, more or less attentive. “Hey,” you whisper, trying not to wake Minho.
“Hey,” he gives back with a tired smile and pats the spot next to him. “Can’t sleep?”
“Nope,” you shake your head and sit down carefully.
“Any reason?” he asks, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you against him.
You sigh softly and shake your head. “Not really, no,” you tell him. “What about Minnie?”
Chan chuckles softly. “You know how the adrenaline gets to him, he needs some time until his body calms down again,” he tells you and glances at his friend. “He knew I’d be awake, it isn’t the first time.”
“Mhm, I get that,” you nod gently and lean comfortably against him. “Tell me a story?”
“A story?” he giggles. “Like a bedtime story for little kids, is that what you want?”
“Chan,” you groan softly. “I’m not five anymore.”
“You were quite an adorable five-year-old, though,” he smirks, and you shoot him a playful glare.
“You were only seven, don’t think you’re all grown-up,” you snort.
“You sound like Min,” he laughs. “He keeps on telling me that one year isn’t that much either.”
“Well, it isn’t. Neither are two,” you insist, and Chan simply grins.
“Not anymore…but I still remember how pissed you were once I turned 18, and you were still sweet 16,” he giggles.
“You’re an ass,” Minho suddenly chimes in drowsily. “It’s not that much of a difference, old man.”
“Fuck off,” Chan pokes his side, making him squirm.
“Now tell her some damn story, I wanna sleep,” he protests softly and closes his eyes again.
“Unbelievable,” Chan sighs but gives in since the two of you seem to agree.
It doesn’t take long until your head rests next to Minho’s, and you’re slowly falling asleep. Chan never fails to get you to sleep.
Six
“What the hell are you still doing in your sweatpants?” Chan’s voice cuts through the silence of your room.
“I don’t wanna go,” you mumble into your pillow, hiding your face as his confused eyes meet yours.
The mattress dips beneath his weight as he gets comfortable next to you, mirroring your position. “But you were so excited only a few days ago.”
“I’m not anymore,” you whine softly.
“Why? Come on, Min helped you pick that beautiful dress, Felix, Jeongin, and you bought the fitting jewelry…didn’t Hannie and Seungmin also help you pick out some make-up?” he asks, irritated. “Changbin helped with your shoes, Hyunjin offered to help with doing your hair…what the hell is keeping you from going after that team effort? Is it because I didn’t do anything?” he asks teasingly.
“No,” you giggle and peak at him shyly. “I’ll embarrass myself.”
“What?!” he asks confused. “Why the hell would that be the case, huh?”
“They want us to slow dance in the beginning,” you explain, and he nods, still not getting the problem. “I don’t have a partner…and I don’t know how to.”
“Fucks sake, why didn’t you say so earlier?” he giggles at you and teasingly pokes your side. “I can show you how to dance.”
“Doesn’t matter if I look all fancy by myself,” you mumble sadly.
“Who said anything about you going alone, huh?” he asks, rolling his eyes. “I can come with you.”
You sit up, frowning down at him. “You?”
“Okay, sorry, there are seven other people at your disposal if you don’t want me,” he shoots back, only partly joking.
“No, Channie, that’s not…I just didn’t expect that,” you tell him and chuckle as he jumps up.
“Great, I’ll go get the guys to get you ready why I search for a suit or something fancy,” he announces, and before you can protest, he’s gone.
Only shortly after, you’re ready with the help of your friends and make your way over to Chan’s room. You knock at his door before stepping inside. He turns around, fixing his tie as he looks at you.
“See, that would’ve been a complete waste not to go,” he smirks and takes your hands, pulling you in front of the mirror with him. “You look amazing, dear,” he tells you gently, and your delusional ass actually believes there’s love in his eyes.
“Thank you, you don’t look so bad yourself,” you wink at him. It’s an understatement; he looks incredibly handsome.
Chan pulls you against his chest, smoothly wrapping his arm around your waist. “Ready?” he asks, taking your hand and meeting your eyes.
“Yeah,” you whisper, swallowing softly at how close he suddenly is. His cologne surrounds you, his hand feels soft against yours, and his hold on you spreads warmth through your whole body. He slowly guides you through the room, showing you the steps patiently as he sways with you. You don’t need a fancy ballgown in some massive hall surrounded by way too many people. He and you right here were all you needed.
Seven
You hum along to the tune playing through your headphones, not noticing Minho sneaking up on you. He suddenly plops on the sofa beside you, making you flinch heavily. “Min!” you protest.
“What?” he asks innocently. “It’s not my fault you’re listening to your love’s song for the hundredth time today.”
“My…what?” you ask, blushing heavily. “Chan’s not my love.”
“Only almost,” Minho shrugs and smirks at you. “No turning back once we’re connected, huh?” he grins.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” you ask, laughing at him.
“We both know who he wrote that one about,” he says, but searching your eyes, he realizes you don’t. “Alright, fine, I do then.”
“I…I have no idea what you’re talking about,” you shake your head, slightly amused.
“Oh dear,” he sighs softly. “You didn’t hear that from me, but your beloved Channie hyung wrote that one about you.”
“He what?!” you exclaim, and Minho’s eyes widen.
“Hey!” he curses at you quietly.
“He wrote that one about me?” you whisper.
“You’re either blind or dumb. I don’t know what I’d prefer at this point,” Minho snorts, and you punch his arm in protest. “He’s in love with you, and if you feel even slightly the same…Please tell him already. He’s getting on my nerves. I love you, but I don’t want to hear how sparkly your eyes are while I’m trying to enjoy my pudding.”
You can’t help but laugh at the disgust lacing his features. “You’re sure about this?”
“Very,” Minho nods patiently, blinking at you as you don’t respond. “Are you?”
“I’m pretty sure I want more than friendship with him, yes,” you nod gently.
“Gross,” Minho comments. “Well, then get on with it. Do I have to do everything around here?”
“Right now?” you ask, confused.
Minho groans softly. “Chan hyung!”
“What?” Chan shouts back from upstairs, and you try to cover Minho’s mouth.
“Come down here, I was right!” he shouts, and your eyes widen in betrayal.
“He knew?” you breathe out.
“He’s as much a coward as you are, someone had to give you a push. It’s getting exhausting seeing the two of you dance around each other,” he grins and gets up as Chan comes downstairs. “Thank me later,” he smirks.
Taglist: (Please let me know if you want to be added to/removed from the list!)
Chan’s eyes meet yours, and you can tell Minho isn’t lying. Your heartbeat fastens, and you barely get out his name, unsure how to begin. Why was it so hard to say how you felt?
I'm not sure if you're taking asks right now so feel free to ignore this. I'd like to request the Fushiguro! Child in the BSD universe where she gets sick so when her powers go wonky and instead of her going to other universes they all come to her universe instead(the JJK universe). The PM, ADA gets to meet Gojo and the Gang hehe. This is kinda inspired by me having a cold right now and having nobody around to talk with lol
scarlet witch! baby fushiguro! reader takes the port mafia and the armed detective agency to the jujutsu kaisen universe
jujutsu kaisen x reader x bungo stray dogs
masterlist of the series
╰➤ CW(s): quite the literal bungo stray dogs and jujutsu kaisen, fluff/comfort, kinda ooc but i tried 😭
╰➤ PAIRING(s): platonic! jujutsu kaisen (gojo & megumi only) + bungo stray dogs (port mafia & ADA) x child! reader
before you read: hi, in case you're new, you're megumi's younger half-sibling, and while you don't have cursed energy, you do have scarlet witch's powers and abilities! aside from that, as a special scarlet witch variant, you also have the ability to travel across the multiverse. how chaotic! furthermore, like your half-brother megumi, you are being cared for by gojo satoru, who also serves as your adoptive father. for more info, please see the masterlist.
being sick was one thing, but having your chaos magic go crazy was quite another.
you weren't even aware of it since you were in bed, sick with a feverish cold, caged up in your room with gojo and megumi who had just gone there only to leave again, failing to get you to eat as much as they wanted you to, which was natural.
you were breathing in and out with your eyes closed, trying relax while coughing a little from the cold, and as you lay in bed, feeling completely miserable, your fingers were subconsciously interlocking and locking.
your powers were working their magic, and the next thing you knew, your beloved family figures from the world of gifted detectives and mafiosos had been taken and dragged into your world in a snap of a finger.
THUD!!
as soon as you heard the sound, you instantly opened your eyes and sat up, and a soft gasp escaped your lips at the sight.
chuuya was face planted on the floor, letting out screams while rolling his r's in annoyance with dazai sitting on top of him, but kunikida, yosano, ranpo, kyouka, kenji, and fukuzawa, and even akutagawa, were either on their bums or feet, but it was clear that they didn't end up falling badly from the red portal present on your ceiling like chuuya, dazai, and atsushi.
"g-guys?" you squeak out, immediately catching their attention as your eyes lit up.
"[name]-chan!" cried dazai, only to let out a dramatic gasp when he noticed a cold gel patch on your forehead and how feverish you looked.
with that, dazai shoved chuuya aside as if he wasn't the one sitting on him in the first place when they were carried across the multiverse by some mysterious red power, and ran to your side, without caring where he was right now.
you extended your arms and hands towards dazai, a clingy expression over your sleepy and blurry eyes from being unwell, needing a cuddle as you whined gently at him, "dazai-nii!"
dazai sat by your side on the bed and hugged you dearly, holding you against his chest and stroking his fingers through your hair, hushing you softly yet comfortingly.
"shh, it's okay, my sweet little [name]-chan. dazai's here. in fact, we're all here.. and it appears to be because of you," dazai said softly, staring at the armed detective agency and port mafias you dragged along with him, all of whom he knows mean a lot to you as your loved ones.
everyone was staring at how dazai comforted you while you were obviously sick, and while akutagawa and chuuya were taken aback by this oddly softer and sweeter side of dazai, they gradually realized where they were, given the amount of plushies, children toys, and books in shelves, and cute decorations in the room, which was enough to tell that it was yours.
"yeah, this is definitely [name]-chan's room.." atsushi stated the obvious, a little smile tugging on his lips as he observed the quantity of hello kitty stickers on your wardrobe and drawers, as well as the stuffies you had, recognizing a few that dazai had gotten you back at home.
"and we're definitely in her universe this time," ranpo added, opening his eyes to reveal a pair of emerald irises and a serious expression that quickly changed, "which also means we've just traveled across the multiverse like our little [name]-chan! isn't that just fascinating?!"
"that's a very nice way to put it.. ranpo-san.." kunikida's sweat dropped as he folded his arms.
"it's still a wonder though.. all of us really traveled across the multiverse.." fukuzawa murmured, still in awe of that very fact.
"how does the brat even do it?" akutagawa sighed sharply, coughing a little as he straightened up and dusted off his clothes with his hands, "it felt like living through a lifetime of everything as we passed through those universes in a flash."
"i agree with him, i honestly feel a little sick.." kenji stated, scratching the back of his head, but still holding a bright smile nonetheless.
"speaking of sick, the chibi is sick too," chuuya exclaimed, his gaze softening at sight of you in dazai's embrace and holding onto him almost for dear life, "probably more than you, kiddo."
yosano was the first to rush to your side besides dazai and chuuya, the doctor in her and their maternal instincts kicking in.
"can i see her for a bit?" she requested softly yet severely as she stared at dazai.
"shh, it's okay, [name]-chan. auntie yosano just needs to check on you a bit," dazai nodded his head and gently pulled you away from him to let yosano check you, hushing you sweetly as you whined softly.
with that, yosano pressed her hand against your neck, face, and forehead, "hmm.. she's shivering a bit. chills it seems from her cold."
"damn, and even in [name]'s current state, she managed to use her abilities to get all of us here," chuuya commented, his eyes wide with amazement and true awe.
"[name]-chan's ability probably got wonky that brought us here out of pure instinct," kyouka softly murmured, to which ranpo pouted at as he claimed that was his line.
a knock rang in your bedroom door while you were being surrounded by your loved ones from another universe, prompting the armed detective agency and port mafia members you dragged in to tense up, especially dazai, who practically hugged you tighter out of protective instinct.
"kikufuku? are you awake?"
they all froze at that.
"shit, someone's at the fucking door," cursed chuuya as he stated the obvious.
"let's just knock out whoever's at the door," said akutagawa who was already activating rashomon.
"dad, i'm awake!" you exclaimed, causing everyone in your bedroom to stiffen up once more, despite dazai shushing you and instantly covering your mouth.
as soon as the door opened, a white-haired man in a tight black shirt and slacks entered, wearing black round sunglasses and carrying a medicine, water, and a bowl of soup in his arms, together with a spiky-haired boy.
the black tendrils of akutagawa's coat were already in the air, ready to attack with atsushi shaking his head at him, chuuya glowing red with crossed arms while the others remained relatively quiet, ranpo, fukuzawa, kyouka, kenji, and yosano unaffected.
there was a pin drop silent for a brief second as everyone stared off at gojo and megumi.
and that was until megumi did his handsigns and brought out his demon dogs into your bedroom, with gojo immediately dropping everything to the floor at the sight of this many strangers in your bedroom (it was also a wonder how they all managed to fit inside too), especially with an unfamiliar young man with unkempt brown hair and brown coat being in bed with you, as well as the one with ginger-hair and a hat as you tugged on his sleeve to make him sit by you too.
"what are all of you doing in my daughter's bedroom?!" cried out gojo, dazai's eyes widening to find you suddenly gone from his embrace and now in the embrace of the white-haired man who had already taken off his glasses with his free hand outstretched, ready to attack with the intention of protecting you.
'blue eyes with the speed of a blink of an eye,' dazai thought, staring at the man holding you in his arms. there was no doubt about it.
"calm down. we're not here to hurt your daughter," fukuzawa immediately stepped in both on the behalf of the armed detective agency and port mafia members in the room.
"you heard the boss, mister. we know [name]-chan!" ranpo backed up fukuzawa with a rather casual and enthusiastic response, very much unfazed at the tension in the air.
"these people know you, [name]?" questioned megumi as he glanced at you, then at gojo, who continued to hold you in his embrace.
"they're the ones i go to when you guys aren't around," you explained to your half elder brother, whining softly and squirming in gojo's grip, "now, put me dooown! they're not stranger dangers!"
you leapt to your feet as soon as gojo placed you down on the floor, clinging to dazai, who had already gotten out of your bed and was standing near chuuya.
gojo and megumi looked surprised as you hugged dazai's pant leg in the same manner you hugged gojo and occasionally your uncle nanami or your half older brother megumi.
a soft smile tugged on dazai's lips as he picked you up and carried you in his embrace, quietly smiling as he caressed the back of your head and allowed you wrap your tiny arms around his neck.
"you can't hurt dazai-nii and his friends!" you continued to speak as you turned your head towards gojo while letting dazai carry you.
"dazai-nii?" both gojo and megumi glanced at each other as they both uttered it unison.
"then that means.." gojo's words trailed off as he glanced at dazai, who happened to be quite as tall as him, before returning his focus to you, "you have a lot of explaining to do right here and now, [name]."
you were back in your bed after a long time of explaining, sitting up straight while gojo fed you spoonfuls of a new batch of soup, his eyes narrowing slightly at the sight of dazai and, well, chuuya on the other side of your bed, given how you refused to let them leave your side while you ate.
even megumi was cautious, especially when it came to akutagawa. he still had his demon dogs out and ready to attack them all.
fukuzawa, yosano, ranpo, and kunikida were seated on the little stools in the middle of your room, with ranpo fiddling with the tea cups and kettle toy on the mini table, and kenji and kyouka checking out your toys and other things.
the tension in the air was palpable, given that the majority of them were cautious of gojo's six blue eyes and his ability to move so swiftly that he could whisk you away from dazai and chuuya in the blink of an eye.
your father was no joke, and your older brother, megumi, was most likely as well, but you were entirely unaware of all of this and continued eating the soup that gojo fed you fairly gleefully now that the armed detective agency and port mafia were in your room with you.
"so, just to clarify things," began gojo, sitting back up and placing the now-empty bowl on your nightstand while opening your medicine with the spoon you used to eat, "all of you came from another universe, and you,"
dazai merely smiled at gojo as he pointed a spoon at him and spoke, "apparently you're [name]'s closest guardian, the one she tells me that resembles like me, dazai osamu."
"and all of those guys are your colleagues, including that guy over there who looks like nanamin with that old man being your boss," gojo said, to which ranpo snickered, fukuzawa's sweat fell, yosano merely gazed at, kyouka and kenji nodded, and kunikida looked perplexed.
"and you two," gojo said, pointing his spoon at chuuya, who simply arched a brow at him and said, "now, what?" with akutagawa glaring daggers at him.
"you guys are from the mafia and you're familiar with [name]?" gojo pointed out with narrowed eyes.
just as akutagawa was ready to dispute and say something unpleasant, chuuya interrupted him and spoke to gojo on their behalf, saying, "just so you know, we do not involve the chibi in our line of work. in fact, she stays very much out of it, if that's what you're worried about."
"chuuya's right, gojo-kun," dazai said with gojo already raising a brow at him, "we understand who and what [name]-chan is and how terribly young she is given her age, and just as powerful her special ability, err, abilities are, we make sure to keep her safe and that she is fed!"
"the armed detective agency ensures that [name]-chan is well taken care of, especially by dazai-san and the president," atsushi added, "in fact, the detective agency serves as her other home in another universe."
gojo's stern expression softened as he sighs deeply and shakes his head, "i see."
with that, gojo immediately lost the protective-father act and clasped his hands together, "well, that's settles it. i'm fine with it."
you then happily raised your arms in the air to celebrate, and croaked out a tiny sweet, "yay!"
"just like that?!" megumi cried out in disbelief.
"well, why else would they all be here saying all of that when it's not?" gojo raised a brow at megumi before laughing softly, "you know, thinking about it, these guys do kind of.. resemble us. take that kunikida-guy for example, doesn't he remind you of nanamin? or how that atsushi-guy acts like itadori-kun too?"
"that's not the point here!" megumi scoffed with a nerve protuded on his temple.
"and he acts like dazai," kunikida muttered his breath at the mention of him, shaking his head.
"aish, calm down, megumi-kun," gojo sighed as he began pouring some medicine in the spoon before turning towards you, gently nudging you to open your mouth to feed it to you, "if they had already wanted to hurt [name], they would have already. in fact, it was something i was already anticipating when i saw them in the room, especially with mister no-eyebrows over there. he kind of acts like you, by the way," gojo stated the last part, pointing at akutagawa.
"hey, watch your tongue or i'll cut you up!" akutagawa scowled at gojo at that.
"see?" gojo stifled a laugh at the threat, "he's so much like you back when you were little and [name]-chan was still a wee little baby."
megumi sighed deeply, shaking his head at gojo, "but still.."
gojo merely grins at megumi, then back at you, leaning down to kiss the top of your head, "and besides, you know it yourself, megumi-kun. the second i find out that they have hurt [name], i won't hesitate to infinite void them up."
following that, chuuya, akutagawa, dazai, and even fukuzawa tense up a little at the abrupt change in manner that gojo now displayed, which was terrifyingly similar to dazai.
"that being said, it will be fine. i'm the strongest, and i can hurt them ten times over."
however, dazai simply laughed, causing gojo's tone and eyes to soften once again. he knows about gojo satoru, the limitless jujutsu sorcerer whom is considered the strongest in the world you resided in, and that's becayse you told dazai everything, from who your father was and what he was like to what he was capable of.
"don't worry, gojo-kun, rest assured that [name]-chan is in safe hands, and you know, we'll get along just fine," dazai said before giggling at you, "right, little bella?"
"mhm!" you happily hummed with a nod.
gojo stared at dazai at that, and it didn't take long for a smile to tug on his lips, it was almost mischievous yet similar to dazai.
"i have a bad feeling about this," muttered kunikida, causing chuuya to look up at him.
"you know what? i agree with you on that."
@shuutingstar @thurio-edau for you two. Why did i write this why-
Ceiling chan felt their face flush as soon as she saw Aiden enter the room. He's so cute. That thought immediately invades her mind, she couldn't help it. She just loves how his smile never leaves his face and how his hair bounces whenever he moves. It just looks so soft! A blush came across her face as her thoughts continued to gush about how cute he is. Ceiling chan knew there was others in the room but that didn't matter to her, she only had eyes for her senpai.
She couldn't help but wonder how she could possible get Aiden to notice her. No doubt it would be hard, he's so amazing and she's just... mediocre. As much as it hurts to admit it Aiden deserves so much better than her, who wouldnt want him? He's probably already taken anyways...
Pressure suddenly grew on top of her causing her to start to fall on top of AIDEN?! "Senpai!" The unexpected movement left her shocked as she fell and covered up Aiden. Her face was burning hot with embarrassment. That was so bad, sure she wanted his attention but not in this way! Why did the universe have to be so cruel?
Hands started to push her aside. She saw a girl with ginger hair start pushing her off of Aiden. Who was this girl? Who gave her the right to just push her aside like she's nothing. She's not nothing, Ceiling chan isn't nothing! Right..?
She watched as the girl uncovered Aiden, blood running down the left side of his face. Oh god did she do that? How could Aiden ever love her now. Horrified by her actions, she just wanted to curl up in a ball and die. Why did she have to ruin this? Why does she always hurt those who she cares about?
A brunette girl joined the ginger both sharing the same shocked and horrified expression (as if this couldn't get any worse). The brunette girl picked up Aiden's unconscious body and dragged him away from her.
What?!
Maybe it was wishful thinking. Maybe it was just stupid hope. But she really manage to convince herself that maybe Aiden wanted her back. But why would he? Especially not anymore. How did she convince herself that she deserved to have Aiden? How did she convince herself that she deserved to be loved?
Her heart continued to shatter into pieces as she watched the two girls cover Aiden up.
Of course, why would he pick her?
Love In Print│Bang Chan
Chapter Two: Run All Of Them Over SS: 10 (ignore time stamps and dates) Word Count: 1.68K Content Warnings: talks about killing, talks about suicide (as a cover for murder)
Previous Next Masterlist
The shisha bar is cloaked in a hazy glow, the soft flicker of candles on low tables casting shadows that dance against the dark red walls. The faint hum of conversation weaves with the muted bassline of a lo-fi track playing overhead, creating an atmosphere of lazy decadence.
Ayame sinks into the plush cushions of their usual corner booth, the silver fabric of her mini dress shimmering faintly in the dim light. Her black coat hangs off her shoulders like an afterthought, more an accessory than a layer of warmth. One silver stiletto dangles precariously from her toes as she leans forward, fingers delicately wrapped around the shisha hose. She inhales deeply, the sweet, fruity smoke swirling into her lungs before she exhales, a lazy plume curling in front of her like a spell.
Minho sits beside her, whiskey in hand, his tie already hanging loose like he's resigned himself to the night. His black dress shirt is unbuttoned at the collar, and he twirls the glass in his fingers with a kind of careless grace.
Across from him, Seungmin looks impossibly composed as always as he nurses a glass of soju, his sharp eyes scanning the room like he's searching for an escape route. Hyunjin sprawls dramatically in the far corner of the booth, one arm slung over the backrest as he exhales a cloud of smoke with the flair of someone auditioning for a noir film.
The silence stretches comfortably between them until Minho sighs loudly, breaking it like a brick through glass. "This fucking merger," he groans, dragging a hand down his face. "Worst corporate decision ever. Like, ever. Worse than that thing in New York in the thirties."
Seungmin doesn't even glance up, lifting his glass halfway to his lips. "The Wall Street crash?"
Minho waves a hand dismissively. "Yeah. That."
Hyunjin tilts his head back, staring at the ceiling like he's pondering the weight of the universe. "So, Ayame," he begins, dragging the words out like a challenge. "How's it going in the main battlefield?"
She groans, setting the hose back into its holder. "Two years. Two fucking years of that man riding my ass about everything. My desk, my handwriting, the way I breathe too loudly in meetings. 'Ayame, your desk is a fire hazard.' 'Ayame, how do you even find anything in this mess?' Like, dude, my chaos isn't hurting you! Get off my fucking back."
Minho groans, rubbing his temples like he's already developing a migraine. "Please. I'm begging you, no fights this week. I'm still working through the last six complaints HR got about the two of you."
Ayame grins, nudging him playfully with her shoulder. "I am your job security, Oppa."
Minho sighs, letting his head fall back against the cushions. "You know what? You're absolutely fucking right. Carry on."
Ayame laughs, grabbing her drink and taking a sip. "Maybe we should just run him over with a car. Slowly. Painfully. I think it'd be beautiful."
Hyunjin perks up, his eyes lighting with a dangerous glint. "Oh, fuck yes. Let's do it. Fuck it, let's run all of them over. Haechul, Chan, Changbin, Jisung, Jeongin. Every single one of those Miroh assholes."
Seungmin tilts his head thoughtfully, his expression calm despite the chaos in his voice. "Pushing Chan out of a window might be cleaner. No evidence, no mess. It's efficient."
Ayame taps her chin, pretending to consider it as she sets her drink down. "Hmm. I like it. They'd think corporate burnout suicide. Very believable."
Hyunjin picks up the shisha hose, gesturing wildly with it like it's a fucking scepter. "Tragic story. Thirty-something corporate man crumbles under the pressure of quarterly projections, tosses himself out of a window. People would eat that shit up."
Minho groans again, dragging his hands down his face in mock despair. "God. You're all fucking insane. I'm surrounded by literal psychopaths."
Ayame grins, leaning in to nudge him again. "You love us."
"Do I?" Minho deadpans, grabbing the shisha hose from Hyunjin with an exaggerated sigh. "Or am I just Stockholm Syndrome-ing my way through this dumpster fire of a life?"
Seungmin smirks, lifting his soju glass in a mock toast. "To Stockholm Syndrome, then."
Hyunjin snorts, stealing Minho's whiskey while he's distracted. "Honestly, it's probably the only thing holding us together."
Minho notices a beat too late, his eyes narrowing as Hyunjin takes a victorious sip. "You little shit."
Ayame laughs, leaning back into the cushions, the silver of her dress catching the light again as she shakes her head. "Honestly, Oppas, we'd make a fantastic true crime podcast. How to Murder Your Colleague Without Getting Caught. It'd go viral."
Seungmin raises a brow, his smirk sharp. "I'd subscribe."
Hyunjin grins, puffing on the shisha. "Dibs on narrating the audiobook."
Minho just groans again, tipping his head back against the cushions like he's praying for strength. "God, you're all so fucking exhausting."
Ayame rests her chin on her hand, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "And yet, here you are."
Minho waves the shisha hose at her. "Alright, so what's the fucking plan if Dementor Corporate Dicksucker actually gets that managing director position?"
Ayame exhales a plume of smoke, the edges of her silver mini dress catching the flicker of the candlelight as she leans back against the cushions. She doesn't rush her reply, sipping her drink leisurely before answering. "If he gets it, I resign. If I get it, he resigns. We made a deal."
The table falls completely silent, like she just announced she's running for president.
Minho stares at her, his whiskey glass halfway to his lips, jaw hanging slack. "You did what?!"
Ayame shrugs, entirely unfazed by his reaction. "That man is not going to be my boss. I'd rather fucking die."
Without a word, Minho's hand comes down hard on the back of her head. The sharp thwap echoes louder than it should, and Ayame yelps, clutching her head. "Ow! What the fuck?!"
"You absolute fucking pabo!" Minho snaps, his voice brimming with outrage. "This is exactly why you don't make decisions without talking to me first!"
Ayame rubs the back of her head, glaring at him. "I don't need your permission to make deals, Oppa!"
"No, but you need a fucking brain cell," Minho fires back, gesturing wildly, his whiskey sloshing dangerously close to the rim of his glass. "Do you have any idea what kind of shitstorm you've just dropped yourself into? Do you?"
She rolls her eyes, crossing her arms defiantly. "I'm not scared of him. I can handle it."
Minho stares at her like she's just claimed she can bench press a car. "Handle it?" He points at her with the kind of theatrical rage that belongs on a soap opera. "You can't even handle me right now, and I'm on your side, you dumbass!"
Ayame bursts into laughter, dodging as Minho reaches for her again. "Okay, okay! I'm sorry, Oppa, I'm sorry. Don't hit me again!"
"Too late!" Minho says, lunging at her. Ayame squeals, slipping out of the booth like a greased-up eel, her silver stilettos clicking against the wooden floor as she bolts for the door.
"I'm tiny! Have mercy!" she shouts over her shoulder, laughter bubbling uncontrollably as she pushes the door open and disappears into the night.
"You don't get to run after dropping a fucking bombshell!" Minho exclaims, scrambling to his feet and chasing after her.
Hyunjin exhales a slow stream of shisha smoke, leaning back lazily as he watches the scene unfold. "Every single time," he mutters, shaking his head with a grin. "And that's why we never let her make decisions."
Seungmin smirks, swirling his soju glass. "You say that every time, and yet, here we are."
Outside, the crisp night air stings Ayame's cheeks as she sprints down the block, her laughter echoing off the empty streets. Minho is hot on her heels, his tie flapping behind him as his dress shoes pound against the pavement.
"You are the reason I constantly have complaints on my desk!" he shouts, his voice carrying through the cool night air.
"I make your life exciting!" Ayame calls back, darting around a lamppost with a grin.
"You make my life a fucking nightmare!" Minho counters, his frustration nearly palpable. "I have to write HR paperwork because of you! Paperwork, Ayame! That's not exciting. It's fucking hell!"
"You love the complaints! Admit it, they make you laugh!" Ayame yells, skidding around another corner.
"Fine, I giggle at the reports!" Minho shouts, picking up speed. "But then I have to fucking deal with them! You little gremlin!"
Ayame doubles over against a lamppost, laughing so hard she can barely breathe. "You love me, remember? Levanter's Maknae? Your favorite?"
Minho finally catches up, chest heaving as he jabs a finger at her. "Maknae or not, you're going to kill me. Do you know how many forms I've had to fill out because of you? My hands have fucking calluses, Ayame. Actual goddamn calluses."
She grins at him, throwing her hands up in mock surrender. "I'll buy you hand cream."
Minho groans, running a hand through his hair as he glares at her, though there's no real venom behind it. "You are so lucky I actually like you."
"And you're lucky I'm fast," Ayame retorts, sticking her tongue out playfully before darting away again, her laughter trailing behind her.
Minho doesn't even bother chasing her this time, shaking his head as he watches her disappear down the block. "Fast," he mutters to himself. "Too fast for her own fucking good."
When he makes his way back to the shisha bar, Hyunjin and Seungmin are exactly where he left them, smirking like cats who've just caught a mouse.
"Feel better, Minho-hyung?" Hyunjin asks, a lazy grin spreading across his face as he exhales a curl of smoke.
Minho collapses into the booth, grabbing the shisha hose like it owes him money. "She's going to give me a fucking ulcer."
Seungmin lifts his glass in mock salute. "To ulcers, then."
Hyunjin chuckles, tipping Minho's whiskey glass toward him. "And to Maknaes who can outrun their Oppas."
Minho exhales sharply, blowing smoke into the air before leaning back with a groan. "You're all fucking insane."
-----
You blinked your eyes open as a beam of sunlight fell over your face.
Apparently, you’d fallen asleep in the living room. You didn’t remember putting a pillow next to Jisung and curling up with your head against it, nor did you remember Jisung going to get another blanket, but he must have at some point. You were still under the fluffy throw he’d brought out when you’d first started The Immortal and the Restless, and you could see a blue quilt out of the corner of your eye.
You carefully sat up, trying not to disturb Jisung. He was in the same fetal position you’d woken up in, with his head on top of the pillow instead of against it. His quilt was draped over him, and you could see the corner of the fabric scrunched in one of his hands. The morning light made his hair seem to glitter as the air from the ceiling vent gently played with it, and his face was serene and unguarded.
He rubbed one of his eyes as you stood up from the couch. You held your breath as he stretched. The blanket slid off his side as he unfolded his legs, and your eyes widened as his back arched.
He opened his eyes with a sleepy smile, and you made your expression as normal as possible.
He scrunched up his nose. “What’s wrong? You’re making a weird face.”
“Nothing’s wrong, I’m making a normal face.”
“Mhm.” He smiled again, closing his eyes and letting his head fall sideways onto the pillow. “Normal face.” He ran one of his hands through his hair.
You fought the urge to also run a hand through his hair. “How many episodes in did we get last night?”
He shrugged, eyes still shut. “Dunno. I think I turned it off after three, but they’re each an hour long and I was mostly asleep by the third one.”
“Yeah.” You yawned. “I only really remember the first half of the second one.”
“It’s okay. We can rewatch. No rush.”
“I liked what I remember.”
His smile grew a little bigger. “Good, glad to hear that. It’s one of my favorites.”
You looked at him for a moment longer. His eyes were still closed, and he looked so relaxed, more relaxed than you’d ever seen him.
He opened his eyes and raised his eyebrows, and your cheeks reddened.
“Staring? I know, I know, I’m gorgeous, you just can’t take your eyes off me.”
“That’s not it, I… you’re… ugh.”
He laughed softly. “Just kidding.” He stretched again and sat up. “I am gonna take a shower, though. Maybe we could do something after, if you don’t have calculus to do?”
You did your best not to imagine Jisung in the shower and waved a hand, dismissing both your thoughts and Jisung’s concern. “Calculus isn’t due until Tuesday. It’s Sunday. Plenty of time.”
“Okay, well, I’ll meet you out here in a few minutes and we’ll figure out somewhere to go.”
You nodded. “Sounds good.”
You went back to your room and sat on your bed, staring forward.
Did that really just happen?
You got changed and did your morning hygiene, changing your outfit a couple of times before deeming it good enough. You went back out to the living room and sat down on the couch, scrolling on your phone for a minute.
A staticky noise stopped, and you realized Jisung was still in the bathroom. He must’ve just turned off the shower.
A minute later, the bathroom door opened.
Jisung’s hair was wet, wearing a towel draped around his remarkably hot waist and… nothing else.
You looked down, hoping he wouldn’t notice you.
“I’ll be ready in a minute.” Jisung smiled at you as you looked at him.
You focused on keeping your eyes on his face and not his body, smiling back. “Cool.”
As Jisung disappeared into his room, you took a deep breath.
His body is perfect, too. That’s really not fair.
He walked out a minute later in a jeans and a green hoodie layered under a leather jacket. “Anything you’d like to do?”
You shrugged. “Nothing’s coming to mind except shopping, but I’m kinda broke right now, so I dunno about that.”
“We can try stuff on, though!” Jisung tossed his car keys from one hand to the other. “Come on, I’ll drive us to the mall.”
“Okay, I can try stuff on.”
Jisung beamed. “Perfect.”
The mall wasn’t particularly close, but it was a pleasant drive. You chatted the whole way, and Jisung was a good driver, unlike many of your friends—your old friends, you reminded yourself. Strangely, thinking of them didn’t hurt when you were with Jisung.
You parked and got out of the car, Jisung running around the front and opening your door for you.
“Thank you.”
“Of course.” His smile was like sunshine as he shut the door behind you and locked the car.
You walked into the mall, and he took your hand, guiding you towards a store with a few cute tops in the window. “Ooh, these are cool!”
You walked in and found one of the tops in your size, a light green bustier with ruching across the front and cap sleeves. “Isn’t this one cute?”
“Very cute.” Jisung agreed. “You should try it on!” “I think I will.” You nodded and walked off in search of a dressing room.
You put on the top, struggling with it a bit before realizing there was a side zipper. It looked great on you, fitting like a glove.
You pulled back the curtain and walked out. “Jisung?”
“Here!”
You walked out to the sitting area outside the dressing rooms, doing a little twirl for him.
He smiled, watching you. “Beautiful, you look… amazing.”
“Aw, thank you.” You did a little curtsey, immediately realizing it made no sense since you weren’t wearing a skirt and the top wasn’t that fancy. “I don’t know why I did that.”
Jisung laughed. “It was cute. How much is the top?”
You tried not to think too hard about Jisung calling you cute and looked at the price tag, doing a double take. “Wow, 85 dollars.”
“Damn.” Jisung’s lips twisted. “It looks good, though. Do you want me to get it for you?”
“No, I couldn’t let you do that.” You waved off his offer. “I’d feel bad.”
“I want to, though!”
“I’d feel guilty, though!” You mirrored his language.
Jisung sighed. “Go change back, and we can keep looking, there was this sweater vest with an apple on the front that I really liked.”
“Why don’t you try it on? You’d probably eat it up.”
“I would.” Jisung preened. “Maybe I will.”
You walked back into the dressing room and put your T-shirt back on, carefully adjusting the top on its hanger and walking back out to Jisung. You hung it up on the return rack. “Where’s the sweater vest?”
“Over here.” He stood up, and you followed him to the sweater vests.
“It’s cropped! Cute.” You took it off the rack, feeling the material between your fingers. “Oh, it’s soft, too.”
“Perfect.” Jisung pulled out the vest in his size, and you went back to the dressing rooms. He pranced out a moment later with the sweater vest on.
The crop exposed the bottom part of his abs, and his arms were muscular. The combination of the light green of the trim, the red of the apple, and the cream background looked great on him.
You were reminded of earlier in the morning, when you’d seen him shirtless, and you could feel yourself go red.
“It looks great!”
“Everything okay? You look a little flushed.” Jisung looked concerned.
“Yeah.” You laughed. “All good, just a bit hot.”
“Yeah, it is warm in here.” Jisung nodded, and you exhaled, a little bit relieved. “But you like it?”
“I love it.” You said sincerely.
“Maybe I’ll get it.” He pulled at the hem. “It’s a little tight, but I want it a little tight. I like to wear either oversized stuff or tight stuff. No in between.”
“It’s a good style on you.” Both of those options are really hot.
“Okay, I’m gonna change out of this, if you want to look around a little more, I’ll find you.”
You stood up. “Okay, perfect.”
You walked over to one of the racks, looking at a pink satin top with a large bow across the front. It was cute, not quite your style, but very cute. You walked through the store, but nothing else caught your eye the way the green top had.
Someone tapped you on the shoulder, and you whirled you around, startled.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” Jisung smiled, holding out a bag.
“Hm?”
“Look inside.”
You did so. Inside was your green top, a receipt stuffed on top of it.
You looked back up at him. “You did not.”
He gave you a mischievous smile. “I did.”
“Jisung! I told you it’d make me feel guilty!”
“Don’t feel guilty! I did it because I wanted to! It looks like it was made for you.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from smiling, taking the bag. “Thank you. I’ll wear it, I promise.”
“You definitely need to. I also got that sweater vest, which has green trim, so we can kinda match!”
PAIRING - Chan x GN!Reader
SYNOPSIS - When life leaves you hanging off the end of your rope, fighting on your own is a struggle. You thank the universe for giving you that one person who can always make those struggles a little more bearable.
WORDCOUNT - 3.5k
WARNINGS - TRIGGER WARNING *** Talks/thoughts of suicide, description of panic attacks, anxiety, reader's mental health has tanked (Please don't read if you aren't comfortable with these)*** angst, comfort, emotional support, childhood friends || Please let me know if I missed anything!
A/N - I started this writing piece to help me get through a really tough mental health episode. While I didn't finish it during that time, something brought me back to it recently and it's a bittersweet feeling to have completed it. After thinking about things for a bit, I've decided that I'd post this for anyone else who may be going through those difficult thoughts, or who has in the past. Chan's Room has always been a safe space for me, and I know a lot of us resonate with that.
Knowing this is a heavy fic, I feel it appropriate to leave a link to suicide hotlines. This site has international hotlines for those of you outside of the U.S. as well as other useful info. I know this planet is a questionable place to be existing on at the moment, but the human experience isn't complete without some struggles. We can all get through it, whatever it is we're struggling with. I'm proud of you! 💛
You shut the door to the apartment, slugging your shoes off at the entrance. The stresses of the day weigh heavily on your shoulders, tense and aching as you trudge through the hallway toward your bedroom.
"You're home early." Chan's bubbly voice resonates through the apartment; a welcoming sound. If you would've acknowledged it, that is. Brown eyes shift from the blue-light of the laptop at the lack of a response, catching the ghost of your body whiz through the kitchen from his spot on the sofa. Your footfalls reverberate against the floorboards. It was the door slamming shut, rattling the walls, the electrifying static that had purged into the space. That's when Chan knew that something wasn't right.
You sag against the woodgrain of the door, wrapping your arms around yourself in an attempt of self-consoling as you slowly slide floorward on shaky legs. Breaths come in shallow puffs of air, your lungs constricting like a mouse in the death grip of a python. Everything that had happened today had finally tripped the tidal wave of negative thoughts you had been pushing down for... God knows how long now. You can't remember. All you know is you want it to end before these thoughts drag you too deep into the rabbit hole to where you can't crawl back out on your own.
Trembling fingers wipe the tears from your cheeks, although it seems futile when fresh ones retrace their tracks down your skin. You focus in on your breathing with a shaky breath and furrowed brows. A deep breath in. Hold.
5...4...3...2...1...
A deep breath out.
A soft rapping on the door startles you, shoulders jerking violently. You know who it is before he even speaks your name, voice muffled beyond the barrier of the door, soft and laced with concern.
"Hey, you alright?"
The crease between your brows deepen as your ears pop, drums a void of rumbles and vibrations as if someone stuffed them full of cotton. Teary, bloodshot eyes tilt toward the ceiling.
"Yeah," You wince at the warble in your voice, clearing your throat before trying again. "Yeah! I'm fine, Chan." When no response comes from beyond the door, you know. You know that he knows you are far from fine.
Chan's shadow crawls up the hallway of the shared apartment as he shoulders his weight against the doorframe to your room. He could count the amount of times you two have found yourselves in this very predicament on his fingers three times over. Most nights he'd ask if he could come in and you would both talk about what was bothering you.
Tonight wasn't most nights, though.
Chan shifts himself so his back is against the doorframe, sliding down the woodgrain until he's settled on the wood floor, legs crossed beneath him. He bites the flesh of his cheek at the sound of your sniffles, his heart aching in his chest.
"You wanna talk?" He asks, and you feel your composure cracking at his tone. So courteous and careful, like always. You nod your head, tongue darting out to lick chapped lips and salty tears.
"Sure."
"Alright, let's see..." Chan trails off, taking a deep breath as he racks his brain for a topic. Something to take your mind off your troubles. His lips twitch into a ghost of a smile as he turns his head toward the door. "What's your favourite flower?"
"What?" You scoff, wiping the tears from your cheeks. He begins to repeat himself, and you cut him off.
"You already know the answer to that, Chan."
"Sunflowers." He says, resting an elbow against one knee. "We were what... nine and twelve when you became obsessed with them because Ms. Keller had planted some in her yard down the street."
Chan's smiling. You can hear it in his voice.
"When your dad bought some sunflower seeds from the store, you stole some from the bag and I helped you dig a hole in the backyard so you could plant them. You watered them for months until the weather got too cold. They never grew because they were roasted sunflower seeds." He's rattling on as if he's experiencing the memory all over again behind those brown eyes of his.
Your laugh is broken and groggy - a candle's light in the dark, casting away shadows that had built up in the corners of the apartment - but it's the reason that Chan's heart skips when it flows beneath the door.
"Oh my god, I forgot about that," You reply, sniffling behind long sleeves. "I thought if my parents found out we planted them that they'd be mad."
The image of you and Chan sneaking around the yard in search of a shovel and a watering can is a core memory, the spring sunshine kissing your skin. The smell of freshly turned dirt and a handful of salty sunflower seeds is as vivid in your mind as the man beyond the door.
"But the next spring, Ms. Keller came over and helped us plant some sunflowers in your yard because your dad seen us trying to plant his roasted seeds in the far corner of the garden."
You chuckle as Chan recalls the memory, eyes downcast to the floor. Everything was so carefree and enjoyable as a kid, and now it feels like work to find just a fraction of enjoyment in your life. Too much anxiety over whether or not you're on the right path, nevermind worrying that you're going about living life the wrong way. As if there's some manual to go by. Your chest tightens and you hold your breath, wet lashes fluttering.
Everything is quiet for a moment, save for the wall clock ticking softly.
"I understand why you always loved them." Chan says, and for a moment it sounds like words he didn't mean to verbalize. You know him better than that. "They're so vibrant and full of life - just like you."
You swallow down the ball of nerves, but that does nothing to quell your active tear ducts. Chan tilts his head toward the door at the sounds of your untamed whimpers, brows furrowing.
"Can I come in?" His voice is sheer lace, delicate as he reaches out to you. And you are well beyond your breaking point, rubbing at your wet, matted lashes. He listens carefully for the sounds of shuffling beyond the door, or even your verbal consent.
The lock on the door lets off a subtle click as you wrap shaky fingers around the knob and twist. He's off the floor before you can swing the door open, meeting your gaze with ember eyes that shine like the hearth of a home.
There you are.
The one constant in Chan's life since the first grade. You, standing in front of him in your crumbling state, trying desperately to hold yourself together like a tattered flag in a storm; a whole piece of fabric battered and torn by gale force winds, frayed edges violently tearing away until single threads are all that's left.
And there he is. Your life raft saving you from drowning in the choppy waters of your mind. Chan stands with open arms, awaiting the inevitable weight of your head against his chest. Your skeleton rattles against wound muscle and vermilion-coated veins when you take a step forward. As the weight of your world comes crashing down upon his shoulder, he holds you with the utmost care, strong arms encircling you as if afraid that you would break under the pressure. The warmth of his body only eggs on the tears, breaking your composure further as you collapse into him. Sobs wrack your body, muffled in his shoulder. Shaky fingers grasp for something to hold onto.
"It's alright," Chan murmurs, digging his nose into your scalp. You feel him press kisses into your scalp, breathing you in as your tears seep into the fabric of his shirt. Fingers splay against your back, soothing shapes and gentle motions running the expanse of your spine, rocking the two of you back and forth. His warmth cradles you, soothes your pain. You never feel shame in these arms. Only the strongest, surest form of love and support that you could ever find in someone. Chan's heart drums against his chest. "You can let it out, it's just me."
You don't know what Gods had decided that you were worthy of such a soul, but right now the only way you think you can thank them is through your violent sobs. Grief and gratitude blend together. You needed this comfort desperately, and it shows in your inconsolable tears. In how quiet you are, unable to verbalize much of your inner monologue when it's thrashing around the confines of your psyche like a hurricane. If a Category five was the worst, you were sitting at a nonexistent Category seven. Chan's words echo in your mind.
"They're so vibrant and full of life - just like you."
There's no point in trying to compose yourself. The floodgates have opened. You feel yourself overheating and yet you crave the comfort that Chan is offering, whispering words of encouragement as you press your face into his shoulder. Soothing each scar that litters the muscle in your chest that beats like hummingbird wings.
"Am I a bad person for wanting to die?"
Your brain is so overwhelmed that your mouth opens without a second thought. You hope your words fall on deaf ears, what with how most of them were interrupted by broken hiccups and a pounding head. But when Chan's body goes rigid under your touch, you know he's heard you. His grip tightens, your name whispered against your hair as his voice catches in his throat. If he felt something was off when you walked in the door earlier, it was painfully obvious now. You were lost. Utterly lost and alone, sending out an S.O.S in the labyrinth of your miserable mind. He's talked you down from the brink of destruction many times through the years. To say he was heaven-sent would be a severe understatement. But this was different to the others. Hearing those words come from anyone was enough to bowl him over. Hearing them come from your mouth, though? He's never heard you speak this way in all his years of knowing you. He wanted to know what had been the origin of your tears, but this was not where he expected the conversation to go.
Your breath catches as you sense how much your words affected him. Chan's silence weighed heavily in the air, your words sinking into the hard wood floors until they were weighted with lead. You pull away from him, gaze downcast as you wipe away the tears on your face. A flood of guilt crashes over you, throat constricting like a zip tie closing around your esophagus.
Put the mask back on. Rebuild your walls. You've fucked up now.
"I-I'm fine. I didn't mean to- I'm sorry." You turn your head, unable to bring yourself to look at your best friend since childhood as more tears fall from doused lashes. Your chest tremors for putting that burden on him, something you hadn't meant to say in the first place. You've never said those words out loud before. You never wanted people to worry. Never wanted to be a problem for them. But here you stand, bearing intrusive thoughts to your best friend. It was like throwing a pile of bricks at him and expecting him to bear all that weight with no trouble.
"You're not. Look at me, listen to me." He says, taking your shaking shoulders with a gentle yet firm grip to turn you towards him again. Calloused fingers brush against your jaw, tipping your chin up to meet your glassy eyes. Brown optics flicker across your face, moving from feature to feature with the deepest concern. There's an emptiness in your eyes that twists Chan's heart, the ache so miserable that tearing the muscle from behind the wall of marrow would be more bearable than leaving it be. Chan's tone is adamant, steady despite the weight of the words you've just entrusted to him. "No, you're not."
New tears retrace the old tracks down exhausted epidermis, eyebrows sliding in as you feel Chan press another kiss to your scalp, lingering a moment longer than before. Chan's response only causes you more anxiety, unsure what exactly he's referring to. Not fine or not a bad person for having such heavy thoughts? He must pick up on it, quick to speak up again.
"You're not a bad person at all, and I think you know that. You're just struggling right now, and that's okay."
You sniffle and shake your head, fighting against a tidal wave of hysterics.
"But, what if I..." You swallow, your mind so jumbled you're unable to spit out the words in their original form. "What if I can't get through this?"
"Oh, love..." Chan murmurs, his voice tremulous. It takes everything in him to reign in his own tears. The very thought of you giving in to those intrusive thoughts is like driving a dagger through his heart. His hands leave your face and wrap around you again, his strong hold tightening until you're lifted off the ground, cradled in his arms as he walks toward your bed. You are so tired, physically and mentally overwhelmed by his compassion and the gentle way in which he carries you. You fold into him like a tired newborn. Being tucked into secure arms as he lays you in bed feels like something more intimate than anything you've ever known. Chan is quick and careful when he settles in beside you.
"You don't need to say a word," He whispers, brushing stray hairs from your face and wiping your tears. "just listen to me."
You nod, a broken whimper escaping your throat as he pulls you into his arms. Chan rubs your back soothingly, letting you cry like a child, and he holds you like letting you go would be a criminal offense.
"You don't have to tell me what brought you to this point, I don't need to know if you don't want me to." He starts, his voice rumbling through his chest as he speaks. It offers you some modicum of comfort as you rest one of your arms over his torso. He lets out a heavy breath, eyes cast to the ceiling. "You aren't a bad person for having those thoughts. They don't define who you are, or where you're going. The fact that you're telling me this says a lot, that you've been holding this in for God knows how long."
"I'm just- it's so exhausting to keep living." You mumble, wiping at your runny nose. You press yourself further into Chan's side, feeling his arms tighten around you with every shift you make. His gaze falls to you when you speak, taking in every word with sharp ears. "I've had those thoughts, myself, y'know." His voice is thick with unspoken secrets, a heavy breath hitting the crown of your head - shallow and sharp. You lay with your head against his chest, silent as he confesses to his own feelings of hopelessness.
You've never seen Chan lose the façade of the stable best friend. Even through the stresses of high school, he was the rock, a bastion of strength and resilience. But Chan knows. He knows what those thoughts are like, the struggle of falling asleep while trying to fend off cackling demons from the foot of the bed. The pain of trying so hard to fit the mold that society has crafted, that every single individual is expected to fit to a T.
Perhaps that's why he knows how to soothe you, how to take care of you and hold back his own tears. Even if he doesn't know how frayed and weathered your thread on this life is.
"I never told you about them. Never told anyone, really. I put all my feelings into songwriting, even if I never released half of them." Chan's body relaxes beneath you as the weight of his secrets leaves him. A half-hearted sigh. A lazy hand traces the curve of your back in a calming gesture, the rhythm of his fingers almost hypnotizing.
"You always believed in my impossible dreams... encouraged me to pursue them like it was your calling in life. You made me happy through all of my downfalls." You pick your head up at his words, resting your chin against his breast. Two pairs of eyes lock on one another. There's a ghost of a smile quirking Chan's lips after a moment, brown eyes glowing like the embers of a fire.
"You're one of the good ones." He pauses, bringing a hand up to swipe at the stray hairs in your face, running his fingers through the locks like he always does. "You're so much that this world doesn't deserve, but everything that is needed. Just like those sunflowers that summer. Little seeds that were waiting for their chance to shine, and you lit them up like little beacons of hope."
Even though fresh tears are streaming down your face, Chan beams at the soft laugh that you release. It's genuine this time, unbroken and featherlight. Childlike. These tears aren't ones of hopelessness and sleepless nights, but of gratitude and love for the person embracing you. The way Chan speaks to you, the way he's willing to offer up his strength and his heart without expecting anything of you in return is exactly what you need. In a world filled with harsh realities and high expectations and constant beat downs, he is the personification of empathy. His voice calms your anxious mind, even if his words don't completely wipe out the heavy storm. He tames it, eases the hurricane force winds and manifests a steady rain that could lull you to sleep.
"I'm not going to let you drown, alright. I know things seem rough right now, but you've accomplished so much and you're gonna do so much more." Chan's eyes burn into yours, unwavering in his conviction. You feel the pad of his thumb against your cheek as he wipes more tears away, the heat and passion in his expression shifting to tenderness as he speaks. "As long as I'm here, you'll never be alone in this."
His words are the affirmations you've told yourself for months, fighting your negative thoughts with positivity that only worked for so long. But the words held an air of certainty coming from Chan. There's value in them. It's the first time in a long time that hearing someone - even yourself - telling you that it's going to be okay brings you some semblance of peace, of safety. Knowing that things can get better given a little time. Sunflowers only bloom after some tender loving care; you learned that back when you were kids.
God damn, were you determined back then...
Every fiber of Chan's body exudes safety as he run his hands through your hair, your tears faltering with every delicate touch as you shed the weight of inner phantoms that you've repressed for forever. Your eyes close at the gesture, feeling his heartbeat thunder beneath your palm.
"You take care of me, I take care of you. Like it's always been."
You pick up on the strain in his tone, eyes wide when you open them again. Tears threaten to spill over Chan's lower lashes, unable to hold back those emotions any longer. Your fingers are still trembling lightly when you reach up and wipe them away, mirroring the actions he's been calming you with all night. You feel the arm around your torso squeeze you once, almost a silent thank you for that comfort, even in the state you're currently in.
"You ok?" He asks.
"Not quite," You mutter, sniffling as you keep your eyes on him. "but I'm better than I was an hour ago. All thanks to you."
Chan smiles; one of those smiles that isn't much, but somehow it still reaches his eyes.
"Good, that's good." He pulls you further up, pressing his fingers into your spine. "Now how about I order us some take out and you and I sit and watch a movie? Maybe that new one that you said looks laughably terrible? Or a comfort movie? Your choice."
"Can we lay here for ten more minutes?" You ask. You've already dropped your head against his chest, eyes closed as you listen to his heart thump against sturdy muscle.
"Ten more minutes. Twenty, if you need. I'm not going anywhere." Chan's reply is soft and slow as he continues to hold you close, your tears drying as seconds turn to minutes. You melt into his warmth, pressing further against his neck. Chan mirrors you, a silent reassurance that he's here; now and always.
In Chan's arms you're both so small, so powerless as you confront the demons that have long haunted you. There's no rushing here. Healing isn't a process that can be rushed. He doesn't need you to say a word or do anything. There's nothing more to say, no. He'll just hold you with everything he has. You relax against him, breaths evening out as you feel exhaustion take over.
As your eyes close, you feel the past few months recede.
The future seems less daunting. Just as the pieces shatter, you are finally ready to begin picking them up and piece them back together. It'll get ugly; viscous and foreboding. But Chan is willing to help you with such a demanding process.
That's everything that keeps you going.
It's what keeps you alive.
If you made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read my work 💕 I appreciate you!
CHAPTER TWELVE: BECAUSE IT WAS ALL MY FAULT
POV: Written. 3rd Person.
— Word Count: 1.5K
Warnings: Mentions of suicide attempt and drugs. Mentions of kidnapping and murder.
Author’s Note: This chapter is very dialogue and thought heavy so I hope it’s not too confusing. Also, I’m sorry if there’s any grammar or spelling mistakes.
The last thing Jeongin wanted was for anyone to find out about his suicide attempt.
He had begged his friends— plus Jaemin and Renjun— to not tell anyone. They all understood they couldn’t. If rumors broke out and the university overheard any, Jeongin could be in serious trouble. Drug abuse wasn’t tolerated at JYP—or South Korea in general— even if it was an “accidental” overdose on prescription drugs. He’d probably be suspended or maybe even expelled, and thrown into rehab. That would cost him the scholarship he worked his ass off to get. And he wasn’t going to let that happen.
But even more so, he never wanted Chan, Changbin, Hyunjin, Felix and Seungmin to find out.
Ever.
He knew they would freak out. He knew they’d bombard him with a million questions. Because deep down he knew Jimin and Hanbin were right. He knew that his hyungs still cared about him, even if they did shut him out.
So Beomgyu fighting with Hyunjin in the middle of the courtyard, totally blew up everything. But, Jeongin couldn’t find it in himself to be mad at or blame Beomgyu. He knew how over protective his best friend could get. And to be completely honest, Jeongin was shocked he hadn’t lost his temper sooner. Especially since he and Hyunjin shared a few classes.
Jeongin let out a heavy sigh when he heard his phone buzz from the bathroom counter. He already knew it was one of them. All five of them had been texting him since last night. He didn’t have the strength to look at the messages. It was hard enough saying goodbye to Hyunjin. He knew that if he looked, he’d end up giving in.
And he didn’t want to go through another heartbreak again.
“I’m going to have to block them,” Jeongin grumbled, grabbing his phone and silencing it. I’ll do it later, he thought as he stepped out of the bathroom. He head down the hallway and turned into the living room.
The feeling of something— someone— watching suddenly washed over him.
That’s right. I have to try to talk to whatever’s here.
He was supposed to do it last night but, he was thrown off by his chat with Hyunjin. He had gone right to bed after that, crawling under the covers and simply lying there awake for hours. He honestly doesn’t know how long he stared blankly at his ceiling for until he managed to drift to sleep.
Jeongin took a deep breath, walking deeper into his living room.
“If someone's here,” he said, “can you give me a sign? Maybe a knock?”
A few moments passed and there was nothing.
Of course there was nothing, Jeongin reprimanded himself. He shook his head as he ungracefully plopped onto his couch. Because ghost don—
His thoughts immediately halted when he heard it. It was the faintest of knocks coming from the wall in front of him.
Jeongin blinked a few times.
Huh?
“Can you do it again?” he asked.
Not even a moment later, another knock landed against the wall, this one slightly louder.
Holy shit! Jeongin thought excitedly. This is working!
Wait. His face morphed into a shocked expression. This is fucking working?!
“Minho-hyung?” Jeongin asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Knock.
He felt his breath hitch at that.
Ask questions like Eris said, Jeongin. You need to figure out if it’s actually him.
“I want to ask a some questions,” he began after a moment. “So maybe one knock for no and two knocks for yes. Is that okay?”
Knock knock.
He blew out that breath and collected himself.
“Is this really Minho-hyung?” he asked.
Knock knock.
“Born October 25, 1998?”
Knock knock.
“Loves Japanese pudding?”
Knock knock.
Jeongin squinted. “Has two cats,” he said, “Doongie and Dori.”
A singular loud knock made Jeongin jump slightly. Then slowly, a grin started to make its way onto his face.
Yep. It’s definitely Minho-hyung. Only he would totally get pissed off at that. Even Felix-hyung got threatened with the air fryer once, when he got the number of cats wrong.
“Sorry hyung,” Jeongin said, “I was just making sure it was you.” He let out a little chuckle. “Three cats. Soonie, Doongie, and Dori.”
Knock knock.
Okay now that we’ve established it’s really him.
“Hyung,” Jeongin said, his voice taking on a serious edge now, “are you the one I hear pacing every night?”
Knock knock.
“And the humming? That was you too?”
Knock knock.
“So you’ve been here for about two weeks?”
Knock knock.
Why now? Jeongin wanted to asked. After a year of being gone, why now?
“I talked to a medium,” he said. “I told her that sometimes when I hear you pace, I hear chains. She said that you might have a spiritual debt. Do… do you have a spiritual debt?”
Knock knock.
So she was right.
“Did you commit some time of grave sin while you were living? Something we never knew?”
Knock.
“Is it a debt from a past life that have to pay off now or something?”
Knock.
Jeongin’s eyebrows furrowed together.
Then…
“Is it, like, a contract with something?” he asked.
Knock knock.
“Is it a human?”
Knock.
“Demon?”
Nothing.
“Minho-hyung, are you still there?” Jeongin asked after another moment of silence.
Immediately there were two quick knocks on the wall. Jeongin shifted in his seat on the couch.
Then, does he not know?
“Do you not know what it was?” he asked, tentatively.
Knock knock.
“Why?” Jeongin blurted. He shook his head. “I’m sorry, only yes or no questions.” He took a deep breath. “Is Jisung-hyung around?”
Knock.
Then maybe he found peace?
“So did he move on?”
Knock.
Jeongin’s eyes widened.
Okay okay. Maybe he’s a spirit on earth like Minho-hyung?
“Do you know where he is?” he asked.
Knock knock.
“Is he safe?”
Please let him be safe.
A heavy silence filled the room, causing Jeongin to start feeling antsy.
Did he leave?
“Min-“
Knock.
Jeongin felt his heart drop. His back straightened, rigidly stiff, and he could feel the way his heart rate picked up. A million questions ran through his head.
Why was he not with Minho-hyung? Why was he not safe? What did they do exactly? Why did they go missing in those woods that night?
“Did he make the same contract as you?” Jeongin asked after shaking off the thoughts. He needed to stay focused.
Knock knock.
“So he’s with the… thing you made the contract with?”
Knock knock.
“Do you think there’s a way to help you two? Out of the contract?”
Another bout of silence passed.
“You don’t know, do you?” Jeongin asked grimly.
Knock knock.
What should I do? Jeongin thought, head dropping. Talk to Eris? Would she be willing to come here personally? She’s anonymous so probably not. Maybe a Shaman? Though a lot of Shamans are complete rip offs. Especially now a days.
Jeongin let out a low groan, rubbing his temples in slow circles. Suddenly there was the sound of chains moving. It was only a brief moment but it was enough to get Jeongin’s attention.
“Sorry hyung,” he said. “This is probably taking a lot of your energy, isn’t it?”
Two knocks, much softer than the ones before, echoed off the wall.
“Can I ask a just a few more questions?”
Knock knock.
“Were you two kidnapped that night?”
Knock knock.
Jeongin winced. He took a deep breath, willing himself to ask the next question.
“Were you murdered?”
Only a moment after the words left his mouth, the two dreaded knocks came.
Jeongin’s heart completely shattered right then and there. A choke sob left his mouth, tears immediately springing from his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Hyung,” he whimpered, pulling his knees to his chest. “I’m so sorry. I’m so fucking sorry.”
The silence that filled the room was suffocating. Jeongin could barely breathe. It felt like his world had completely came crashing down.
You knew they were dead, Jeongin. You already knew they were gone.
Because it was all my fault.
It’s my fault. It’s my fault they’re gone. I should have done something more. I should have gone after them.
Jeongin squeezed his eyes shut and took a few deep breaths, willing himself to calm down.
I have to help them.
No matter what the consequences are, I have to help them.
Jeongin collected himself, wiping away the tears on his cheeks with a sniffle. He sat back normally on the couch, running his hands down his legs.
“Minho-hyung,” Jeongin said finally, his voice watery and strained, “just one more question, okay?”
Knock knock.
“It wasn’t a human that kidnapped and murdered you two, was it?”
There was a moment of silence before the sound of two knocks— now directly on the wall behind him— confirmed the suspicion that has been eating at the man for over a year.
“Thank you, Hyung,” Jeongin said, softly. “You can rest now.”
Trapped
This is the fourth prompt for Heizuha Week 2024. The prompt is a dangerous situation: kidnapping, accident, crash, trapped, captious situation, but I decided to take it in a funnier approach. @heizuhaevents
This was the worst situation possible. Kazuha was trapped in a small closet, surrounded by cleaning supplies, and pressed up against Heiji.
Not only did she absolutely detest small places, but she was stuck with the loudest most annoying yapper in this universe who didn't make this god-awful situation better.
"Oh God, when is someone going to notice that we are stuck here?!" Heiji exclaimed, not that anyone would notice with the loud music blasting outside and teenagers dancing like there's no tomorrow.
Kazuha rolled her eyes for the thousandth time, "Heiji, how many times are you going to ask that before the answer reaches your thick skull?!"
She moved stiffly as she repositioned her body to seek a more comfortable position amidst the tight quarters, pressing even closer against him in the confined space, eliciting a groan from him.
"Can you not do that, Ahou?!" Heiji yelled as he looked up at the ceiling trying to avoid her gaze.
It was enough that he could feel her whole body on his, her head on his chest, her breasts pressed up against him, one of her legs between his.
"Shut up, what would you do in my place?! It's so uncomfortable." Kazuha snapped back.
"Ya think?!"
'I will never forgive you, Kudo! How could you forget me like that?'
"You're the one that put us in this situation, I just wanted to bring the mop because someone spilled juice in the kitchen. No one told you to follow me." Kazuha said.
"Ahou, I only followed you to ask if you were okay, then someone pushed me in the closet, and before I could do something the door was locked."
"Wait what?"
"Yeah, I know. Why would someone do something so stupid? Maybe they were jealous because I'm the life of the party and practically the hottest guy here."
"No, you idiot. You wanted to ask if I'm okay? Why?"
Heiji sighed and looked down to meet her gaze. Well, maybe he shouldn't have done that. Looking at her cute face as she stared up at him with her chin pressed against his chest made his heart beat faster and his cheeks burn.
"Umm, y-you weren't there," Heiji stammered, a note of nervousness creeping into his voice. "I looked around and you weren't partying with us, so I got worried."
Kazuha's cheeks visibly flushed, 'He noticed.'
"I just wasn't feeling it to be honest." She said, "I feel a bit tired."
"You should've just said so, Aho! We could've done something else."
"I know, but I also missed Ran-chan and Sonoko-chan, so when I heard Sonoko-chan was hosting a party I wanted to come too."
"Ahou," He said half-heartedly.
"You're the Ahou."
Before he could say anything, he felt his body fall backward as someone opened the door in a swift motion and hit the ground with Kazuha on top of him.
Kazuha could hear the men in the party whistling and "ooohing" at the scene, making Kazuha push herself up immediately from embarrassment.
"Here you are! We've been looking for you!" Ran exclaimed, running to hug Kazuha as Shinichi helped Heiji up and patted him on the back.
"Come on, we're going to play truth or dare, Sonoko-chan is waiting for us," Shinichi said, already walking towards the living room.
"No." Heiji stood in place and declared with a grave and menacing voice, "I have a case to solve."
Everyone stopped in their tracks and looked back at Heiji confused, except for Kazuha who already knew where this was going and slapped her forehead in exasperation.
Heiji looked at them with eyes that could kill, "I need to find the culprit that pushed me into the closet and trapped me there."
SMAU | UNDERCOVER JYP-U
chapter thirteen -> feelings and secrets (written, 4K words)
directory | next chapter ->
"Okay, so that concludes the meeting?" Chan begins to wrap up, clasping his hands together. You take it as your queue to gently nudge Jeongin's side, forcing him awake after having dozed off halfway through your regular Friday afternoon student body meetings. It was safe to say Jeongin may not have been the best choice for the demanding role, yet here he was.
The sun was streaming through the large floor to ceiling windows of the meeting room, so you didn’t blame him for letting the warm sun send him to sleep. You were feeling hazy yourself, having to force yourself to stay awake through Chan’s words.
Jeongin smiles sleepily at you, leaning his head on your shoulder momentarily while the others conclude the discussion about the relevant topics, primarily the events of the charity week occurring at the beginning of the next month.
"You have until next week to choose the specifics for what you will actually do, but you've now chosen your teams for the events, right?" Chan asks, and you all nod your heads - bar Jeongin, of course, who just looks to you with a raised brow. You wave your hand, indicating you'd inform him of what he'd missed later.
The charity week was a week of events that ran once per semester. This year, your chosen charity was World Vision, and your collective aim was to raise a large sum of money to send off. It was known that most of the students that attended you university and their parents were well off, which meant it could hopefully be achieved.
There would be a multitude of events held throughout the week, and opportunities to donate constantly. It was your job as a member of the student body to advocate for the charity and push for as many donations as you possibly could.
Although it was difficult to balance the duties that came with being a student body representative with uni work and a social life, organising the dance course's activities for charity week was a great way to take your mind off of the shit show that was social media right now. Thankfully, Jisung's tweets were very well received, and he didn't get in too much trouble, but you dread to think of would could have happened to him if that weren't the case.
You were also dreading the inevitable next 'secret' that this awful account was going to expose next. It was as if you were constantly glued to your phone, refreshing Twitter like a fan girl on steroids with a constant lump in your throat. Nothing had been posted since last week, though, so you hoped it was going to be a one off.
"Excellent," Chan says, distracting you from your thoughts. Jeongin lifts his head from your shoulder to pack up his belongings, as if he'd used them in the first place. "I think we're taking a well needed break from alcoholic induced social events this week, so if I don't see you guys during the week I'll see you again, here, next Friday."
The way he switches so quickly from his head-screwed-on leader mode to his laid back, casual friendship mode never fails to crack you up. It's as if he has a split personality, and you commend him for being able to juggle everything as efficiently as he does. Once you finish packing your bag, Ryujin makes her way over to you. As the admin of the student body, she sits to the right of Chan in the school's meeting room, whilst Changbin - the vice president, sits to the left.
It was definitely an awkward hour, the two of them on edge with each other after their conversation over coffee the other day. Ryujin had come home and spilled everything to you and Hyunjin, sprawling on your bed beside you and delving deep into their conversation. Hyunjin had even taken a break from his art piece to listen intently to her, putting his input in and giving her advise when she asked for it.
Having Hyunjin over was a lot...nicer, than you'd expected it to be. He was quiet and pleasant and save for the hour he got bored and had a rush of energy, he kept to himself and worked hard at his painting. It was nice to have his company, the two of you not speaking and simply getting your work done in peace. His artwork came out beautifully, too, which left him heading home in a great mood.
That photo he'd posted was still on your mind, though you'd never admit that out loud.
"God that was a drag," she drawls, flopping to lean on the table in front of you as you stand up, the others heading out the door. "I love Chan, but these things could be over in fifteen minutes if he kept it simple."
"He'll have an aneurism if you tell him to shorten them," you snort, walking out the room with Ryujin's arm linked in yours. Lia and Yuna had told you earlier they were going shopping after the meeting, so you watch them walk in the opposite direction to you and Ryujin after saying goodbye. They'd invited you guys and Chae too, of course, but you knew if you indulged in their shopping spree you'd spend far too much, and the cost of being a Uni student did not come cheap.
So, you'd arranged a quiet night in with some of the guys. Jeongin had just bought a projector, so the plan was to hook up Jisung's fancy laptop to it and set it up in your dorm. You would have gone to the guys dorm, except Minho's recent cooking escapade had not ended well, and he'd informed you that his dorm had smelt like rotting eggs for half the week. Decidedly, your dorm was the agreed upon source of comfort for the night.
Chan had some more meetings with some uni higher ups about charity week, so he'd bailed, and Changbin and Ryujin's awkward situation had caused him to give it a pass too. Seungmin said he'd be making an appearance after his classes. Since half of his double major was English, he attended lectures at your sister school, the mainstream Uni across the road, which meant his schedule was pretty jam packed.
That left Minho, Jisung, Hyunjin, Felix and Jeongin turning up at your doorstep holding various different items an hour after you'd gotten back to the dorm.
"What's all this?" You hear Chae ask as the raucous tumbles into your dorm. You make your way out of your bedroom to greet them, Ryujin following behind you after the two of you had scrolled on tik tok for the hour in between your meeting and now. The boys were all in their comfy clothes; hoodies and joggers, much like you girls.
"Jeongin's got the projector," Minho informs you as he gives you a smile and hands you a box. You'd barely seen him this week, since he was starting to skip classes more regularly. You were surprised he hadn't been reprimanded for it yet, but Minho somehow got away with anything and everything. "That's a cake."
"I've got snacks!" Felix says cheerily, showing you bundles of crisps and bags of chocolate in his arms.
"Why have you brought a cake?" You ask, smiling at your blonde headed friend as he sports his usual grin, turning back to Minho. He shrugs.
"It was my, 'I'm sorry your deep dark secret got posted on the internet, here's a cake' cake, but Minho and Felix somehow forgot that I don't like chocolate icing, so now you guys can eat my pity cake," Jisung explains, already flopping onto the sofa with his laptop, though he's smiling as he says it. He's received mostly praise and positivity over the internet recently, so he wasn't in all that of a bad mood about the whole ordeal.
Felix smiles sheepishly, dumping the snacks onto the table. The other guys start making themselves comfortable too, Hyunjin flashing you a grin as he flops down beside Jisung. Minho has to step in and help Jeongin set up the projector when Jeongin announces he actually has no idea how to work it, and it takes them a further twenty minutes to set the whole thing up.
You're not complaining though, since after a collective agreement to watch the second Shrek movie (arguably the best one), you're nestled in between Chaeryoung and Minho on the sofa with Ryujin between your knees on the floor.
Surprisingly, you all sit relatively in silence, save for some commentary throughout the movie. You pinned it down to the fact that everything surrounding your group had been nothing less than dramatic recently, and you could all use a chill night together to relax. Seungmin shows up halfway through the movie, taking a seat on the floor.
You're just about to choose a second movie to watch when Yuna and Lia turn up, their arms littered with shopping backs. Yuna sighs exasperatedly, dumping the bags on the ground when she comes in, whilst Lia says a hello to everyone before going into her room.
"Do the stores you went into have anything left in them?" Minho scoffs, raising a brow at his blonde haired friend. She sticks her tongue out at him. "But seriously, how much did you buy?"
"A lot," she replies, gleaming. You shake your head at her with a smile, loving her dramatics. She was an actress through and through. "The stores were giving today - I bought, like, twenty things in one shop alone."
Ryujin whistles, grabbing Yuna's bags and sifting through them. You were sure she'd give you a proper haul tomorrow. "This is some good shit," she says, nodding. "I'm so jealous, I wish I had money to splurge."
"What about the bee movie?" Jeongin interrupts absentmindedly, leaning over Jisung to watch him scroll on Netflix for a movie. Seungmin shakes his head, standing up to join them.
"We watched that last week, remember?" He says, and Jeongin nods with an 'ah'. Seungmin leans his hands on the side of the sofa before looking up at Yuna. "How do you even afford all that?"
Yuna shrugs, snatching the top that Ryujin was eyeing up and shoving it back in her bag. "Daddy's money. He's gonna cut me off soon though, I just know it."
"Your dad lets you buy all this?" Seungmin says, eyebrows raised. "Damn."
"He likes spending his money on me," she counters, collecting all her bags before making her way towards her bedroom. "I may as well take advantage, right?"
Seungmin rolls his eyes with a small smile as Jeongin points to the laptop screen. Hyunjin makes a face at you, mimicking Yuna and her shopping bags, and you can't help but to laugh with him.
"What's so funny?" Ryujin says to you curiously, turning to look up at you. You simply wave your hand in response, sharing another look with Hyunjin as if you two are in on some silly secret. It was as if you couldn't help yourself gravitate towards him recently.
"What about titanic?" Hyunjin perks up, looking towards Jisung. There's a collective squeal from you girls, and Yuna and Lia both thumbs up the movie as they join you, Yuna already having changed into her pajamas. They both squish up on the floor.
"Not happening," Jisung groans, and you remember how he'd told you it was the only movie that had ever successfully made him cry.
"Oh come on," Felix protests with a whine, finishing off a bag of gummies. "It's a phenomenal movie!"
"I'm in agreement with Jisung, here," Seungmin says, giving up on the movie search and slumping back to the ground. "It's so long."
"Yeah, but it's worth it," Chae tries to justify, pleading after having to put up with Shrek for an hour.
Hyunjin looks as you, as if he wants you to back him up, so you sigh in defeat. "It's one of my favourites," you say, feeling everyone's eyes turn to you. "Plus I'm injured. Injured girl rules all."
Jisung and Seungmin groan together, knowing they've been defeated as Jisung searches the movie and starts playing it. Yuna even goes as far as to turn off the lights, leaving the glare of the movie screen the only illumination in the room.
Three hours later, almost everyone is in tears after having sat through the movie in almost dead silence. The only noise that was heard from you was during the sex scene, when you laughed as Jisung attempted to cover Jeongin's eyes.
"It's so sad," Felix sniffles, wiping at his eyes with his hoodie sleeves when the credits roll. Yuna turns the lights on again, and turns to reveal her red puffy eyes. Ryujin laughs at her, but she's none better, tears practically streaming down her face. The only dry eyes in the room are Seungmin and Minho. Even Jeongin, who's always trying to keep up with a tough exterior has tear marks on his hoodie.
"Hyunjin, I hate you," Jisung bawls, unable to hold back his tears. "Do you enjoy making grown men cry?"
"Hey, I'm crying too!" Hyunjin defends himself, and when you look over his eyes are brimmed with tears. He wipes them away sheepishly as he smiles at you. You think it's so cute he gets so emotional at movies like this - you remember when you'd all gone to the cinema to watch something Felix suggested and he was sobbing beside you the whole way through. "Plus, you're hardly a grown man."
Jisung only scoffs in return, attempting to get his sniffles under control. "How are you two not crying?"
Minho and Seungmin turn to eachother, and Minho shrugs. "I've watched it a million times, I know the plot. Plus, when have you ever seen me cry?"
"True," you say, giving him a nudge with your shoulder. He chuckles at your tear stained cheeks and offers you his hoodie sleeve, which you take and use to wipe your eyes. "Seungmin? Jack Dawson's death didn't hit hard for you?"
He shakes his head with a brown, his dark brown hair flopping over his forehead. "Not really. Like Minho said, I know the plot, and it's expected."
"You're insane," Yuna gasps, unable to comprehend the fact that the saddest movie of all time hadn't been able to make him shed a tear. "You must be made of steel."
He only shrugs in response, standing up and stretching out his limbs. "Should probably head back; that movie went on for ages and I've got shit to do tomorrow."
That spurs a collective agreement from the guys, the ones on the floor repeating Seungmin's action. Jeongin shakes his legs out after having them cramped up to his chest to make room for Lia beside him. "It's a Saturday, have a rest."
Seungmin ignores the comment, picking up his jacket and putting it on. You stand up too to say your goodbyes to them, when Minho tugs at your arm.
"Help me up," he whines, so you pull him up with a roll of your eyes. You miss the way he winces as you do so, turning to give Felix a hug, the boy waiting patiently with his arms open.
"Why don't we go for coffee tomorrow?" He says when you hug him. "Dance crew study session, like the good old days?"
"I'd be up for that," you reply with a nod, since you hadn't had anything planned for tomorrow anyway. "We do have to have our ideas ready for our practical on Wednesday, so would be good."
"We do?" Minho questions with his arm slung round you as his goodbye, which makes Hyunjin laugh as he leaves his departing conversation with Yuna.
"Maybe you should start attending lectures," he says slyly, looking toward you with a smile after Minho rolls his eyes and removes his arm from your shoulder. Hyunjin steps towards you, bringing you into his chest momentarily. You're slightly startled by the action, since Hyunjin is never really physically affectionate with you like Felix or Minho are, but you accept the hug. Everyone else was hugging goodbye, anyway.
"Maybe you should hop off my dick," Minho retorts, sticking out his tongue as Hyunjin pulls away and picks up his jacket.
"Gross," Jeongin gags.
You shake your head, laughing, in an attempt to ignore the butterflies forming in your stomach. "So, study date tomorrow?"
"Sure," Hyunjin confirms, looking over to Chaeryoung who turns away from saying goodbye to Seungmin to give a thumbs up.
"I could use it," Minho admits, and Felix claps his hands.
"Great! Aw, we're getting the old gang back together!" He smiles, and he's so happy that you don't tell him your 'gang' talks regularly on your dance group chat and is with each other almost every day.
The guys all head off then, leaving the five of you girls alone with a pile of sweets and crisp packets strewn everywhere and a half eaten cake on your table. You start cleaning up instantly, not wanting to have to deal with it later.
"So," Ryujin says, slyly coming up to you and nudging your shoulder before starting to pick up the mess. The other girls begin helping too. "Mr Hwang hugging you goodbye? Now that's an unforeseen action if I've ever seen one."
You give her a look, but your facade cracks when you can't help but to sigh with a smile. "Am I reading into that too much? Or was that a moment."
"That was most definitely a moment," Ryujin confirms, taking the trash bag Lia hands her with a smile and starting to dump the rubbish into it. "He didn't hug any of us goodbye."
You smile inwardly, unable to help yourself. You wait until Lia is back in the kitchen before you say, “Is it bad that I kind of like him?”
Ryujin laughs - a loud, bent over hysterical laugh as you watch her with raised eyebrows. She steadies herself with a hand against the arm of the sofa as Chaeryoung comes through at the noise.
“What on earth is all that about?” She questions, clearly fed up with cleaning as she flops onto the sofa and puts her fear up on the table.
“She’s finally admitted she’s got feelings for Hyunjin,” Ryujin says, grinning at Chae like a mad woman.
Chaeryoung’s eyes visibly light up, and she turns to you with a smile. “You’re kidding!”
“I never said I have feelings for him,” you point out, though it’s futile at this point since your two friends are squealing together. Shaking your head at them, you finish clearing the last of the trash up.
“We called it months ago,” Chaeryoung sighs, a glazed look in her eyes. She pulls her long dark hair behind her ears. “I like to think this is all because of me.”
“It kinda is,” Ryujin responds, moving the trash bag so you can dump the remanence into it. “You cracked the surface, and they did the rest.”
“Can we stop talking like we’re in a movie, please,” you groan, flopping down beside Chae and letting Ryujin dispose of the trash bag. “I can’t believe I actually probably like Hyunjin. Past me would piss herself.”
“That she would!” You hear Ryujin shout through from the kitchen, followed by audible confusion from Yuna and Lia.
“He definitely likes you back, anyway,” Chae sighs excitedly, clapping her hands. “It’s so obvious. When are you gonna tell him?”
“Woah woah,” you say, putting your hands up. Chae frowns at you. “We literally just reconciled our differences a couple weeks ago - let’s not move too fast here.”
“Well you need to tell him,” Ryujin says blatantly when she returns to the room, standing with her hand on her hip. “Or else we’re gonna have to watch him pine after you all semester.”
You roll your eyes at her. “He does not pine after me, Jesus,” you say, though you watch your friends share an obvious look. “I’m just gonna see how things go for now, and if I’m still feeling this way in a couple weeks then I’ll think about telling him.”
Ryujin and Chaeryoung groan simultaneously, Ryujin throwing up her hands exasperatedly. “We finally get a bit of drama that doesn’t make me want to cry and you’re not even gonna indulge us?”
“Charity week,” Chaeryoung says with a shrug, making you both turn to her. “It’s two weeks away - if you still think you like him, that’s your deadline for telling him.”
“I have a deadline now?” You stress, thinking about how you’d only started to realise your feelings towards Hyunjin yourself not half an hour ago. Chae nods decisively.
“It’s the perfect time. There’s always the big party at the outdoor auditorium at the end of the week with fireworks and stuff - how romantic would it be to declare you feelings then?” She gushes, clasping her hands in front of her chest. Ryujin turns to you with a crazed look, nodding.
“She’s so right. Plus, if my relationship scenario is a shit show, I want to live vicariously through you,” she smiles.
You tilt your head at her, thinking about what she’s told you about her conversation with Changbin the other day. “I thought you said you were on good terms now?”
“Yeah we are, but this whole ‘just being friends’ kind of sucks. If he wasn’t all over the place right now I’d be with him. I dunno, I just…feel like I need someone right now, but he just can’t be that person,” you nod, placing a hand on her knee to comfort her.
“I’m glad you’re mature enough to understand that,” you say honestly, Chae nodding her head. Ryujin had always been such an independent person - her self sufficience and bold personality having slightly intimidated you when you’d first met her. After the shit show that was last semester, you’d seen her demeanour crack, and you’d sworn to yourself to try and not let that happen again.
“It will be so much better for you in the long run to have some time apart. You still like each other, you still want to be together, just not right now,” Chaeryoung says with a sad smile, resting her head on Ryujin’s shoulder momentarily. “Right person, wrong time.”
“I guess,” Ryujin sighs. “Doesn’t suck any less though. You know what we should do next weekend? Clubbing.”
You instantly groan at the idea, knowing clubbing was not your scene these days. Your group used to go clubbing regularly, but you’d decided the late nights and hangovers were just not worth it anymore. You would, however, indulge your sad friend if she needed you too.
“Fine,” you say after a second, which makes Ryujin smile. Chaeryoung agrees too, and after finishing your talk with the other girls when they come through to join you, you all go your separate ways and head to sleep.
The next morning, you wake up at a surprisingly reasonable time, the sound of Yuna practicing lines making you stir. She’s up earlier than you, for once, which is rare for her, but you knew she had auditions for the end of year show coming up soon, so she’d been practicing lines non stop.
You’re just about to grab your phone to check your messages when you hear her scream. It startles you, causing you to practically jump out your skin and rush through to her room. Lia is right there with you, sharing a panicked look as you both burst through the door, staring at the back of Yuna’s head.
“What the hell?” Ryujin says groggily, walking through in nothing but her underwear from the sudden commotion. Chaeryoung follows shortly after, her hair a riot and having obviously just woken up. You all crowd round Yuna who’s on her phone, watching her slowly turn around you with the colour drained from her face.
Chills run down your spine when she days, “That Twitter page posted about me.”
