#Cefn Park MX Track

A new local discovery. Cefn Park MX Track, which just happens to be 15-20 minutes up the road from us.  Having moved to the area at the end of last year, our new local surroundings still produce some great finds.  I had a fun couple of hours at the weekend watching and photographing the action on the track.  It did make me smile to see how riders improved and upped their game when they saw a photographer track side, but of course, it gave me some great images too.  I will be heading back there sometime...

This little guy made quite an impression on me this weekend at Cefn Parc MX Trax. He wasn’t the best rider, nor was he the fastest, but boy, did he show courage and determination! My heart totally went out to him. I’ve been introduced to dirt biking over the last couple of years and I’m not afraid to admit that I can be a bit of a wimp when far more experienced riders are screaming up behind and then overtaking at speeds that I can only dream of. It takes a steely determination to maintain your focus and resist the urge to pull over. This little dude certainly kept his focus and even when he struggled to get his bike started after stalling on a long uphill section and had to wait for help, he was back out on the track mixing with the big boys again. What a trooper! I don’t even know the kid, but I felt proud of his achievements.

Hats off to all the other kids on the track too. They give hope that not all kids will be lost to their mobile devices and loose the ability to socialise in person. What I witnessed from all of them was courage, determination and patience in spades, because it takes practice, over and over again, to get better and move on to the next level. These are attributes that are lacking in some adults that I’ve met. These kids could teach them a thing or two.
