i know i can't really self-diagnose this but i looked up some complications of cataract surgery and the only thing i found that sounds like it could have happened to me is a "wipe out", which is a sudden drop of visual acuity (which i experienced, my vision was pretty much halved). it's only known to happen in people with glaucoma (which i also have). but it's also really fucking rare with like 3 in a million people experiencing this so who the fuck knows. all i know is i had IOLs put in and lost basically half my vision. gotta actually finally speak to a doctor about this when i see one next time.

Cataract surgery in Pitampura
Cataract Surgery In Pitampura, Delhi
Micro Phaco with Micro Incision Foldable Lens (MICS)
Tumblr media
Cataract is the clouding of the lens of your eye that impairs vision. Cataract is responsible for more than half of blindness in the world, which is a grim fact because it is a treatable condition. In cataract there is a buildup of protein in the lens that makes it cloudy. This prevents light from passing clearly through the lens, thereby causing loss of vision.
Advancing age is a primary reason for cataract. With age, protein of the lens turns opaque. Other causes of cataract are metabolic disorders such as diabetes, excessive exposure to sunlight, lifestyle disorders like heavy alcohol consumption and smoking. Injury to the eye can also lead to clouding of the lens of the eye.
Treatment of Cataract When cataract forms, surgery is the only way to treat it. In cataract surgery, the surgeon removes the clouded lens and puts an Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) in your eye. Your vision will be as good as pre-cataract days, though you may need to wear glasses. Over the years, cataract surgery has moved from vision restorative to refractive surgery, so that you have reduced need of glasses.

Through microphaco technology a very small incision of around 1.8mm is required to remove cataract from the eye. Through this ultra small incision, a very high frequency MICS Phaco tip is introduced inside the eye, breaking the hardest of cataracts into very small fragments which are sucked out through the same tip. Irrigation is provided through a separate side port. This arrangement provides the advantage of speedy recovery, faster healing and lesser surgery induced astigmatism. The surgery involves insertion of foldable Intra-Ocular lens which can be inserted through the 1.8mm incision.
Bajaj Eye Care Centre is also equipped with Pulsar Minimal Stress Phaco Emulsification with advanced Posterior Vitrectome System from OPTIKON(Italy)

Vision Excellence: The Best Eye Hospital in Lahore for Cataract and LASIK Surgery
Eye health is crucial for overall well-being, and with advancements in medical technology, individuals can now access top-tier services to address vision-related issues. Whether it's a common condition like cataracts or a specialized procedure such as LASIK, the importance of choosing the best eye hospital cannot be overstated. In Lahore, a city known for its growing medical infrastructure, finding the best care for your eyes is easier than ever. In this article, we will explore how Lahore’s top hospitals are revolutionizing eye care, particularly in cataract and LASIK surgeries, and why choosing the Best eye hospital in Lahore is a critical decision for those seeking the finest care.
The Importance of Eye Health
The eyes are one of the most vital organs, and maintaining their health should be a priority. With modern lifestyle changes, including increased screen time and exposure to harmful environmental factors, eye-related issues have become more prevalent. Common problems like blurry vision, eye strain, and dry eyes are just the tip of the iceberg. More severe conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and refractive errors, can significantly impact the quality of life.
For those who are diagnosed with cataracts or are considering LASIK surgery to correct vision problems, selecting the right eye care facility is paramount. Lahore, with its expanding network of world-class hospitals and specialized ophthalmology departments, offers an array of options for those in need of expert care.
Cataract Surgery: A Common Yet Critical Procedure
Cataracts are one of the most common eye conditions affecting millions of people worldwide, especially among the aging population. A cataract causes the lens of the eye to become cloudy, leading to blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and difficulty in night vision. Left untreated, cataracts can lead to blindness, making timely surgical intervention essential.
Cataract surgery is a relatively simple procedure in which the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens. This outpatient surgery typically has a high success rate, but its effectiveness largely depends on the expertise of the surgeon and the quality of post-operative care.
In Lahore, several hospitals have earned a reputation for excellence in cataract surgery. These institutions use cutting-edge technology, such as femtosecond lasers, to ensure precision during surgery. The availability of experienced ophthalmologists also ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care, minimizing the risks associated with the procedure.
Why Choose the Best Eye Hospital in Lahore for Cataract Surgery?
Choosing the Best eye hospital in Lahore for cataract surgery ensures that patients benefit from:
Experienced Surgeons: Highly skilled ophthalmologists with years of experience in performing cataract surgeries.
Advanced Technology: The use of state-of-the-art surgical tools, including lasers and premium intraocular lenses (IOLs), enhances the safety and success of the surgery.
Comprehensive Care: From pre-operative evaluations to post-surgery follow-ups, the best hospitals in Lahore provide holistic care to ensure a smooth recovery process.
Patient-Centered Approach: Hospitals that prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction offer a seamless and stress-free experience.
LASIK Surgery: The Revolutionary Vision Correction Procedure
LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is one of the most popular procedures for correcting refractive errors like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. Unlike glasses or contact lenses, LASIK offers a permanent solution by reshaping the cornea to improve how the eye focuses light on the retina.
For individuals tired of dealing with the hassle of corrective eyewear, LASIK surgery can be a life-changing procedure. However, its success heavily relies on the technology used and the expertise of the surgeon. In Lahore, numerous eye hospitals have established themselves as leaders in LASIK surgery, offering world-class services using the latest technology.
What Makes the Best Eye Hospital in Lahore Stand Out for LASIK?
For those considering LASIK surgery, opting for the Best eye hospital in Lahore offers numerous advantages:
Advanced Laser Technology: The best hospitals use top-of-the-line excimer lasers, which allow for highly precise corneal reshaping. This reduces the risk of complications and enhances the chances of achieving 20/20 vision or better.
Custom LASIK: Some hospitals in Lahore offer customized LASIK procedures, tailoring the surgery to each patient’s unique eye structure. This personalized approach results in better visual outcomes and faster recovery times.
Experienced Ophthalmologists: The expertise of the surgeon plays a pivotal role in the success of LASIK. Hospitals with a team of experienced ophthalmologists ensure that patients are in safe hands throughout the procedure.
Thorough Pre-Operative Assessments: Leading hospitals perform comprehensive eye exams and diagnostic tests to determine whether a patient is a suitable candidate for LASIK. This minimizes the risks and ensures that only those with optimal eye health undergo the procedure.
Post-Operative Care: Proper post-surgery care is essential for a smooth recovery. The best hospitals provide detailed instructions and follow-up visits to ensure that patients heal properly and enjoy the best possible results.
The Advantages of Choosing a Specialized Eye Hospital
While general hospitals may offer eye care services, choosing a hospital that specializes in ophthalmology provides several distinct advantages:
Focus on Eye Health: Specialized eye hospitals concentrate solely on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions. This means that the entire staff, from surgeons to nurses, is highly trained in the nuances of eye care.
Access to Advanced Treatments: Eye hospitals often invest in cutting-edge technology that may not be available in general hospitals. This includes advanced diagnostic tools, lasers, and surgical equipment designed specifically for eye procedures.
Personalized Care: With a focus on patient-centered care, specialized eye hospitals often offer personalized treatment plans that cater to the specific needs of each patient. Whether it’s for cataract surgery, LASIK, or other eye treatments, patients receive tailored care that ensures the best outcomes.
Comprehensive Services: The best eye hospitals in Lahore offer a full range of services, from routine eye exams to complex surgeries. This means that patients can receive all of their eye care needs in one location, without having to visit multiple facilities.
Exceptional Patient Experience: Specialized eye hospitals typically focus on creating a comfortable and supportive environment for their patients. From well-designed facilities to compassionate staff, these hospitals prioritize patient satisfaction.
Making the Right Choice: How to Select the Best Eye Hospital in Lahore
When choosing the best eye hospital for cataract or LASIK surgery, several factors should be considered:
Reputation: Look for hospitals that have a proven track record of successful surgeries and positive patient reviews. Word of mouth and testimonials from previous patients can provide valuable insights.
Technology: Ensure that the hospital uses the latest technology for both diagnostics and surgery. Advanced equipment often translates to safer procedures and quicker recoveries.
Surgeon Expertise: Research the qualifications and experience of the ophthalmologists working at the hospital. Skilled surgeons can make a significant difference in the outcome of your surgery.
Comprehensive Care: Opt for a hospital that offers end-to-end care, from pre-operative consultations to post-operative follow-ups. This ensures a smooth journey from diagnosis to recovery.
Patient Comfort: The hospital should prioritize patient comfort and offer a pleasant environment. Friendly staff, clean facilities, and transparent communication are all signs of a quality institution.
Conclusion
Choosing the right hospital for eye care, whether for cataract surgery or LASIK, is an important decision that can significantly impact your vision and overall quality of life. By selecting the Best eye hospital in Lahore, you are not only ensuring access to state-of-the-art technology and expert surgeons but also investing in a future of clearer, healthier vision.
Whether you're seeking treatment for cataracts, looking to correct refractive errors with LASIK, or simply maintaining regular eye health, Lahore's leading eye hospitals provide the comprehensive care you need. With their commitment to excellence, innovation, and patient-centered care, these hospitals continue to raise the bar for eye care in Pakistan.

1. Choosing the Best Cataract Surgery in Delhi: What You Need to Know
Cataract surgery is one of the most common eye procedures worldwide, known for its effectiveness in restoring vision affected by clouding of the eye’s natural lens. If you're seeking cataract treatment, finding the best cataract surgeon in Delhi is essential for optimal outcomes. In a city known for its advanced medical care, the options may seem overwhelming. This article will guide you through the key factors to consider when choosing a cataract surgeon in Delhi and how to ensure you receive the best treatment.
What Is a Cataract?
A cataract is a condition where the eye’s lens becomes cloudy, leading to blurred vision, difficulty in seeing at night, and sensitivity to light. This occurs due to protein buildup on the lens, which obstructs light from passing through clearly. Cataracts usually develop gradually with age but can also result from injury, genetics, or other medical conditions like diabetes.
Why Cataract Surgery Is Necessary
Cataracts, if left untreated, can severely impact your quality of life. Early symptoms include mild blurriness, but over time, vision can worsen, making daily activities like reading or driving difficult. While glasses may help in the early stages, surgery is the only permanent solution once cataracts progress.
The procedure involves removing the clouded natural lens and replacing it with a clear artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Modern cataract surgeries are quick, safe, and generally painless, with a high success rate.
Choosing the Best Cataract Surgeon in Delhi
Delhi offers some of the country’s finest eye surgeons, but finding the best cataract surgeon in Delhi requires careful consideration. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Experience and Expertise
When searching for the best doctor for cataract surgery in Delhi, prioritize experience. A highly skilled surgeon with years of practice is likely to offer better results. Check the surgeon’s credentials, including their education, specialized training, and years of experience in cataract surgery. Surgeons who have performed hundreds or thousands of surgeries tend to have higher success rates and fewer complications.
2. Advanced Surgical Techniques
Cataract surgery has evolved significantly in recent years, with cutting-edge technology improving precision and outcomes. The best cataract surgeon in Delhi will offer advanced techniques like femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), which is more precise than traditional methods. This technology ensures better accuracy in lens removal and placement of the IOL, leading to faster recovery and improved vision quality.
Additionally, modern IOL options like multifocal, toric, and extended depth-of-focus lenses can correct other vision problems such as astigmatism and presbyopia during cataract surgery.
3. Reputation and Reviews
Word of mouth and patient reviews are crucial when selecting the best cataract surgeon in Delhi. You can consult online platforms, social media, and healthcare review websites to read about patient experiences. Look for consistent positive feedback regarding the surgeon’s professionalism, communication, and surgical outcomes. A doctor with an excellent reputation will often be affiliated with a best cataract hospital in Delhi, known for offering comprehensive care and cutting-edge technology.
4. Hospital Facilities
The choice of hospital matters significantly. The best cataract hospital in Delhi should offer state-of-the-art technology, such as high-quality diagnostic equipment, laser-assisted surgery options, and a sterile surgical environment. Additionally, the hospital should provide post-operative care facilities, as cataract surgery typically requires follow-up appointments to ensure successful recovery.
Choosing a hospital known for its ophthalmology department ensures access to experienced surgeons, advanced equipment, and a focus on patient safety.
5. Personalized Care
Every patient’s eye health is unique, and the best doctor for cataract surgery in Delhi will offer personalized care. They will take the time to conduct a thorough evaluation of your eye health, explain the different IOL options available, and recommend the best course of action tailored to your specific needs. Surgeons who offer a patient-centered approach are more likely to achieve better outcomes and higher patient satisfaction.
Cost of Cataract Surgery in Delhi
One of the common concerns for patients is the cost of cataract surgery. The price can vary depending on several factors, including the hospital, the surgeon’s experience, and the type of IOL used. While laser-assisted surgeries and premium IOLs tend to cost more, they offer better long-term results. It's important to note that many hospitals in Delhi provide a range of packages to suit different budgets without compromising on quality.
When seeking affordable options, ensure the hospital and surgeon you choose do not compromise on technology, safety, or patient care. It’s worth investing in quality for a procedure as important as cataract surgery.
Recovery After Cataract Surgery
Recovery from cataract surgery is typically quick, with most patients noticing an improvement in vision within a few days. The best cataract hospital in Delhi will guide you through the recovery process, providing detailed instructions on medication, follow-up appointments, and any precautions to take. It’s essential to avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and exposure to dust during the healing period.
Your surgeon may prescribe eye drops to prevent infection and inflammation, and you will be advised to wear protective eyewear, especially outdoors, to shield your eyes from bright light and UV rays.
Conclusion
Choosing the best cataract surgeon in Delhi requires careful consideration of experience, technology, and patient reviews. By selecting a doctor affiliated with the best cataract hospital in Delhi, you ensure that your surgery is performed with the highest standards of care. With advancements in cataract surgery techniques and options like laser-assisted surgery and premium IOLs, you can look forward to restored vision and improved quality of life.

Tumblr media
If you’ve noticed changes in your vision or suspect you may have cataracts, it’s crucial to understand the symptoms and treatment options available. Fakeeh University Hospital offers comprehensive eye care, including cataract surgery, to help restore your vision and improve your quality of life.
Common Symptoms of Cataracts
Cataracts typically develop slowly, and in the early stages, you might not notice any significant changes.
However, as the cataract progresses, you may begin to experience the following symptoms:
Blurry or Cloudy Vision: One of the earliest signs is a gradual blurring or clouding of vision, making it feel like you’re looking through a frosted window.
Difficulty Seeing at Night: Cataracts can cause increased sensitivity to light and glare, particularly when driving at night.
Fading or Yellowing of Colors: You might notice that colors appear less vibrant or slightly yellowish.
Halos Around Lights: Bright lights may appear to have halos around them, which can be especially noticeable in low-light conditions.
Frequent Changes in Prescription Glasses: If you need frequent changes to your eyeglass or contact lens prescription, it may be a sign of cataracts.
Double Vision in One Eye: Cataracts can cause double vision, usually in one eye, which is different from the normal binocular double vision caused by eye misalignment.
Sensitivity to Light: Bright sunlight or indoor lighting might feel too intense or cause discomfort.
Tumblr media
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to consult an ophthalmologist to get a proper diagnosis. Early detection can help you manage the condition before it severely impacts your daily life.
When Is Cataract Surgery Necessary?
While cataracts cannot be treated with medication or lifestyle changes, surgery is a highly effective solution. Cataract surgery is generally recommended when your vision problems start to interfere with your ability to perform everyday tasks, such as reading, driving, or recognizing faces.
You may need cataract surgery if:
Your vision has deteriorated to the point where it affects your work or personal life.
You’re struggling with activities like driving at night or reading.
Your eye doctor determines that the cataract is significantly reducing your vision and affecting your quality of life.
What to Expect During Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery is one of the most common and safest procedures performed in ophthalmology. During the surgery, the cloudy lens in your eye is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This helps restore clear vision and reduces the need for glasses after surgery. Fakeeh University Hospital’s ophthalmology department uses advanced technology to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
The surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia, and the procedure takes less than an hour. Most patients can return home the same day. After the surgery, your eye will heal over the course of a few weeks, and your vision will gradually improve.

What is Cataract and Treatment Options for Clearer Vision
Cataracts are one of the most common eye conditions, affecting millions worldwide. Characterized by the clouding of the eye's natural lens, they can significantly impair vision, leading to blurred images, difficulty seeing at night, and an overall decline in the quality of life. Fortunately, cataract surgery is one of the safest and most effective treatments available. This blog will explore what cataracts are, how cataract surgery is performed, and the various treatment options available.
What Are Cataracts?
A cataract develops when proteins in the eye’s lens begin to clump together, causing the lens to become cloudy. This cloudiness prevents light from passing through clearly, leading to vision problems. Cataracts typically develop slowly over time and are most common in older adults, though they can affect younger people in some cases.
Tumblr media
Common symptoms of cataracts include:
Blurry or cloudy vision
Sensitivity to light
Difficulty seeing at night
Faded colors
Double vision in one eye
Cataracts can form in one or both eyes, but they don’t spread from one eye to the other.
What Causes Cataracts?
Several factors contribute to the development of cataracts, such as:
Age: Most cataracts are related to aging, with the condition commonly affecting individuals over 60.
Genetics: A family history of cataracts can increase the likelihood of developing the condition.
Medical Conditions: Diabetes and other health problems can increase the risk of cataracts.
Injury: Trauma to the eye can sometimes lead to cataracts.
Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and long-term exposure to UV rays are additional risk factors.
Cataract Surgery: A Proven Treatment
When cataracts interfere with your daily activities, surgery is the only effective treatment. Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed and safest surgeries worldwide.
During the procedure, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). The IOL becomes a permanent part of the eye, restoring clear vision. The surgery typically takes about 20-30 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Recovery is usually quick, with most people noticing significant improvement in their vision within a few days.
Tumblr media
Types of Cataract Surgery:
Phacoemulsification: This is the most common type of cataract surgery. A small incision is made in the eye, and an ultrasound probe is used to break up the cloudy lens, which is then suctioned out. The IOL is then inserted.
Extracapsular Cataract Extraction (ECCE): In some cases, where the cataract is too dense for phacoemulsification, a larger incision is made to remove the lens in one piece. The IOL is then placed.
Laser-assisted Cataract Surgery: This is a more advanced technique that uses lasers to make precise incisions and soften the cataract for removal. The use of laser technology offers more precision and can reduce recovery time.
Treatment Options for Cataracts
While cataract surgery is the only way to fully treat cataracts, other measures can help manage symptoms in the early stages of the condition.
Eyeglasses or Contact Lenses: In the early stages, prescription glasses or contacts can improve vision and delay the need for surgery.
Lifestyle Modifications: Using brighter lights for reading, wearing sunglasses to reduce glare, and limiting night driving can help manage symptoms as cataracts develop.
Medications: Although there are no medications that can cure cataracts, eye drops and supplements that contain antioxidants may slow down the progression.

What is Cataract Surgery?
A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, leading to diminished vision over time. It typically occurs due to aging but can also result from eye injury, certain medical conditions, or prolonged use of certain medications. Cataract surgery involves the removal of the cloudy lens and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This procedure has a high success rate and significantly improves vision.
Why Choose Eyeroots Eye Clinic in New Delhi?
Eyeroots Eye Clinic is one of the leading eye care centers in New Delhi, known for its expertise in cataract surgery and other eye treatments. Here are several reasons why you should consider Eyeroots for your cataract surgery:
Experienced Ophthalmologists: Eyeroots boasts a team of highly skilled ophthalmologists with years of experience in performing cataract surgeries.

Understanding Cataract Surgery Costs in New Delhi
The cost of cataract surgery can vary depending on several factors. In New Delhi, cataract surgery typically ranges between INR 15,000 and INR 1,20,000. The price difference depends on several variables, which we will explore below.
Factors Affecting Cataract Surgery Costs
Type of Procedure
Phacoemulsification: This is the most frequent type of cataract surgery nowadays, and it involves breaking down the hazy lens using ultrasound technology. It is a minimally invasive surgery that typically costs between INR 20,000 and INR 80,000.
Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery (FLACS): This is a more advanced method that uses laser technology for greater precision. It tends to be more expensive, typically ranging from INR 40,000 to INR 1,20,000.
Choice of Intraocular Lens (IOL)
Monofocal IOL: These lenses correct vision at one distance, either near or far. They are the most basic and affordable option, costing around INR 15,000 to INR 30,000.
Multifocal IOL: These lenses correct both near and far vision, reducing the need for glasses after surgery. These IOLs are more expensive, with costs ranging from INR 40,000 to INR 1,00,000.
Toric IOL: These lenses are designed to correct astigmatism in addition to cataracts, costing approximately INR 50,000 to INR 1,00,000.
Surgeon’s Expertise The experience and reputation of the surgeon play a significant role in the overall cost of cataract surgery. Highly experienced surgeons might charge a premium, but their expertise ensures better outcomes and fewer risks.
Hospital or Clinic Facility The choice of hospital or clinic also impacts the cost. Eyeroots Eye Clinic, for example, offers top-notch facilities with modern technology, ensuring safety and efficiency. Premium services might come at a higher cost, but they provide additional benefits like faster recovery times and better outcomes.
Pre- and Post-operative Care
Pre-operative Tests: Before cataract surgery, patients need to undergo a series of tests to assess eye health and determine the appropriate lens type. These tests usually add INR 1,500 to INR 5,000 to the total cost.
Post-operative Care: Post-surgery medications and follow-up appointments are essential for a successful recovery. These can cost between INR 2,000 and INR 5,000 depending on the complexity of the case.
Cataract Surgery Cost at Eyeroots Eye Clinic
At Eyeroots Eye Clinic, the cost of cataract surgery varies based on the type of procedure and the choice of intraocular lens. Below is a rough breakdown:
Standard Phacoemulsification with Monofocal IOL: INR 25,000 — INR 50,000
Phacoemulsification with Multifocal or Toric IOL: INR 40,000 — INR 80,000
Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery with Premium IOLs: INR 60,000 — INR 1,20,000
Eyeroots Eye Clinic offers various packages tailored to meet the financial needs of patients while maintaining high standards of care. They also provide transparent pricing, ensuring that patients are well-informed about what to expect.
Financial Assistance and Insurance
Many patients worry about the affordability of cataract surgery, but there are options available to ease the financial burden.
Insurance Coverage: Most health insurance plans in India cover cataract surgery. However, coverage limits and conditions may vary depending on the insurer and policy. It’s crucial to check with your insurance provider about the extent of coverage for cataract surgery and any associated costs, such as lens upgrades.
EMI Options: For those who may not have insurance coverage or whose insurance does not cover the entire cost, Eyeroots Eye Clinic offers easy installment plans (EMI) to make the payment process more manageable.
Preparing for Cataract Surgery
If you have been diagnosed with cataracts and are preparing for surgery at Eyeroots Eye Clinic, here are some steps you can expect:
Pre-operative Consultation: Your ophthalmologist will assess your eye health, conduct necessary tests, and help you choose the right intraocular lens based on your lifestyle and visual needs.
Pre-operative Instructions: You will be given instructions about any medications to avoid before surgery and advised to arrange for transportation, as you will not be able to drive immediately after the procedure.
Post-Surgery Expectations and Recovery
Cataract surgery is a day procedure, meaning you can return home the same day. However, your vision may be blurry immediately after the surgery, and it could take a few days for it to stabilize.
Post-surgery Medications: Your doctor will prescribe eye drops to prevent infection and inflammation.
Follow-up Appointments: You will need to visit the clinic for follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery. The first appointment is usually scheduled within 24 to 48 hours after the surgery.
Recovery Timeline: Most patients resume normal activities within a few days, though full recovery can take up to a month. It’s essential to avoid strenuous activities during the initial recovery period.
