Aaah they're finally all done! My full augmented company is ready to go beat up some Davions. These were a lot of fun to paint, and the prints turned out well. There was some sort of scaling issue, so one of the Men Shens is absolutely tiny compared to the others, but that just adds character

What is with the PCA and welding as much stuff as physically possible to MTs?

Balteus and Cataphract are basically drowning in soo much metal that you can barely pick out the MT at the center of all the weaponry, boosters and treads.

Not a complaint, just an interesting quirk of theirs.

If the PCA returns for future games, I'd love to see this trend continue, see how much of an MT can be replaced and added to before it's no longer "technically" an MT.

The Cataphract - Inspired by Ancient Cavalry

Armored Core Fun Facts:

We first meet the heavily armored and imposing Cataphract in the story trailer for Armored Core VI, and then battle it a few times in-game. This beast, packing a hell of a punch and heavily armored, does justice to its historical inspiration.

The word "Cataphract" comes from the Greek "kataphraktos" (κατάφρακτος) meaning "completely enclosed" or simply "armored", and referred to heavy cavalry of Iranian origin known for both horse and rider being covered in scale armor, creating a very tanky unit that was hard to oppose.

These heavy cavalry were known for crashing into opposing infantry and scattering enemy soldiers, taking advantage of their heavy armor and weapons to send lightly armored infantry and cavalry into disarray and mow them down if possible, and though they originated around Iran, their use spread throughout Eurasia and North Africa.

The Cataphract in Armored Core VI is similarly beastly and intimidating, and you can only imagine what light work it would make of garden variety MTs based on how much trouble it causes for even small groups of ACs, and even the player (depending on your build).

Slight spoilers for ac6 ng and ng++(Armored Core 6)

Do you think when 621 takes or leaves for the defeat the Cataphract mission or when it appears during the ng++ baws arsenal mission, that Walter gets nervous, his heart pounding at the possibilities ahead.

Does he think that maybe 621 will take down this machine that destroyed 617, 619 and 620? That 621 will avenge their sacrifice to allow Walter onto the planet for this overseer mission, does he cheer silently when 621 defeats the Cataphract? A glimmer of joy in his cold demeanor?

Or does he lose hope for 621? Feeling a sense of dread as 621 begins to fight this massive machine that destroyed the previous three hounds? A sense of knowingness and pain as the Cataphract claims another hound from him and makes his mission a failure, the loss of his best hound and the failure of his promise to his friends.

Do you think 621 knows about the other hounds? Purposely thinking about them and their sacrifice as they fight the Cataphract, using it as fuel to keep fighting and finally destroy this monsterous machine, a sense of accomplishment as the machine dies?

Ah, the Cataphract, what happens when you throw a big pile of scraps and production spares at a bunch of engineers with no resources and too many problems and tell them to make it work. In fairness to the Capellans, they did somehow manage to make a pretty decent design by stuffing a Marauder, Shadow Hawk, and Phoenix Hawk in a blender with whatever else was on hand on Tikanov at the time. Shame the Davions stole the production facility when they came a-knocking
