This is a sideblog for my x-men movieverse/evolution AU. I'll be posting art, my fics, and whatever silly little thoughts enter my mind in regards to these stories.

What is X-Men Continuity inspired by?

This AU is "based" in the alternate x-men movie timeline; the main story set five years after the events of the Apocalypse film. I feel that 'alternate universe' isn't exactly the right term to use since it's fairly similar to the actual movies, but I have no idea what else to label it as. I pretty much just change things from canon as I please, incorporate characters I was introduced to watching X-Men evolution and the original fox trilogy, and of course, I have my own original characters as well.

Rambling about my x-men OCs because I can: feat. Catalina Ganbaatar

Catalina Ganbaatar is a mutant in her early thirties who lives in Seattle Washington with her best friend Topher. Her mutation is technokinesis (communication/manipulation of machines and electronics). She works as a car mechanic, and her power gives her an advantage at her job so she's made a very successful career for herself.

Catalina's parents immigrated from Mongolia to the USA a couple years before she was born. She spent her early childhood in Chicago, and her family moved to Seattle when she was nine. It was in Seattle that she met Topher after his grandmother convinced her parents to let her take Catalina to church with their family. Topher (who was seven at the time) and her became fast friends, and were inseparable growing up.

Catalina is a fairly reserved person, even from a young age she’s always needed a lot of time alone. When her mutation manifested at age ten, she’d practically isolated herself from others, convinced she was going insane as she began hearing machines in ways no one else could. Once she realized what was happening, she began to learn how to cope with her abilities and began using them to her advantage, developing a love for all things machine.

Catalina was born with phocomelia (a congenital deformity that causes limbs to be underdeveloped or absent). It affects her left arm and leg, and she’s used prosthetics for most of her life. She’d always refused to wear an arm prosthetic as a child, because the ones she’d been prescribed were more for aesthetics than anything else. Plus they were bulky and uncomfortable, so she didn’t see the point. When she met Topher (who’s Deaf and prefers using ASL to communicate) she became more interested in a functioning prosthetic so she could speak sign language more effectively. After her powers manifested her first project was a prosthetic arm for herself, which she finished the following year. Since then she’s made all her own prosthetics since it’s cheaper and they’re customized to her needs, making them much more comfortable.

She’s a very hands-on person, not afraid to get her hands dirty and doing things for herself. She prides herself on her independence. She enjoys long motorcycle rides, jazz music (especially Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole), and anything that lets her work with her hands.
