Francis, the most exotic of the set.... In the beginning Richard saw him petting a cat but when things went downhill he encountered another cat yet that one was hostile and just as aggressive as he was (he even called it a demon or was it devil?).

It must've been a reflection of him, the same way Henry saw a pregnant dog on the road while driving (based in Europa by Horace, "wicked be led by omens of screeching from owls, by pregnant dogs").
