Disney Holiday Cruises: A Magical Celebration at Sea
Disney Cruise Line fully embraces the holiday spirit with its Merrytime and Halloween on the High Seas cruises. When you step aboard one of these specialty sailings, you'll be immersed in festive decor, events, entertainment, food, and more as the ships come alive for the seasons. Keep reading for a detailed overview of what the celebrations entail for both Christmas and Halloween Disney cruises. Christmas Cruises: Very Merrytime https://youtu.be/LuowtpuYp3g Very Merrytime Cruises transform Disney's ships into winter wonderlands, capturing the merriment of the holidays from bow to stern. These cruises sail from early November through December, with itineraries ranging from 2 nights to 7 nights. Decor The Yuletide adornments start as soon as you embark. A towering, three-deck-high tree decorated with ribbons and ornaments greets you in the magnificent lobby atrium. Garlands, lights, poinsettias, snowflakes, wreaths, and a life-sized gingerbread house further set the mood. Your stateroom receives holiday embellishments too. Book the Very Merrytime Premium Holiday Package to have your room dressed up with a mini tree, stockings, holiday bed runners, a holiday towel animal, and more. On Christmas cruises, the ships go all-out with extra decor like Santa hats on the smoke stacks. The Disney private island Castaway Cay sparkles with a Christmas tree, fake snowfall, and festive music. Events Very Merrytime brings beloved holiday happenings like: - Mickey's Tree-Lighting Magic: Mickey, Minnie, and pals host this tree lighting ceremony on the first night with carols and the official illumination of the lobby Christmas tree. - Santa's Winter Wonderland Ball: Mrs. Claus story time and an appearance by Santa and Disney characters highlight this event. "Snow" falls in the atrium too! - Deck the Deck Holiday Party: This tropical celebration on the pool deck features Disney characters in holiday garb, music, dancing, cookies, and cocoa. On Christmas cruises, kids can partake in a holiday cookie decorating activity. Other Very Merrytime activities encompass holiday crafts, family karaoke, holiday movie sing-alongs, dance parties, and youth clubs events. Entertainment The Walt Disney Theatre dazzles with a holiday production show that blends singing, dancing, and special effects. Other entertainment includes a guest piano player performing Christmas carols in the lobby, carolers singing throughout the ship, and characters dressed in new holiday costumes. Menus On Christmas Day, the main dining rooms serve a special Happy Holidays dinner menu. The festive feast highlights include: - Amuse-bouches like a cranberry and brie bite - Starters like a holiday seafood sampler - Soups like roasted chestnut bisque - Salads like an arugula and beet duo - Main courses like cider brined turkey breast and prime rib - Desserts like gingerbread cheesecake and chocolate Yule log The regular dining rotation also receives holiday touches like cranberry bread, pumpkin soup, and Buche de Noel cake. On all Very Merrytime sailings, seasonal treats get served like hot chocolate, snickerdoodles, eggnog, pecan tarts, and candy cane gelato. Halloween Cruises: Halloween on the High Seas From September through October, Halloween on the High Seas transforms Disney's ships into ghoulish wonderlands brimming with spooky decor, entertainment, and activities. These sailings span anywhere from 2 nights to 7 nights. Decor Halloween makeovers start when you walk into the lobby atrium. A towering pumpkin tree with carved jack-o'-lanterns makes a bold first impression. Other frightful decorations include pumpkin garlands, haunted portraits, spiderwebs, and Halloween-themed music. Beyond the atrium, keep your eyes peeled for creepy accents like mummy statues in the shops, ghostly placemats in the restaurants, and pumpkin stickers haunting the portholes. Disney really goes all out with the ambiance. Events Mickey's Mouse-querade Halloween Party, the signature event, invites guests to show up in costume for trick-or-treating, dance parties, and Disney characters dressed up too. Awakening the Pumpkin Tree Ceremony also draws crowds as Ray the firefly works his magic to transform the carved pumpkins. Other ghoulish activities encompass mask making, pumpkin carving demonstrations, Halloween crafts, spooky movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, a ghost storytelling seance, and a Villainous Takeover adult costume bash. Entertainment While the regular Broadway-style shows carry on, the atrium lobby welcomes a ghostly piano player. And on Pirate Night, look for Jack Sparrow and his pirate pals to make appearances. Menus On Mickey's Mouse-querade night, the main dining rooms serve up Halloween-themed dishes like candy corn soup, spider web chicken, and chocolate ghost cake. Elsewhere, you'll discover treats like candy apples, pumpkin spice cupcakes, and orange-green split soft serve. Spooky specialty drinks include poisons, potions, and the pumpkin fog fizz. Thanksgiving Cruises Disney Cruise Line ships that sail during the Thanksgiving holiday offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner menu in the main dining rooms on Thanksgiving Day (November 24th). The Thanksgiving menu typically includes: - Roasted turkey - Stuffing - Mashed potatoes and gravy - Green beans - Cranberry relish - Pumpkin pie There are also opportunities to watch football games on the ships. For example, the Dream and Fantasy have a giant Funnel Vision LED screen that shows sports. Guests can watch games from the pool deck. While there are not full-fledged Thanksgiving themed events, the ships make an effort to celebrate the American holiday for those sailing over the holiday. New Year's Eve Cruises Disney goes all-out on New Year's Eve with festive celebrations on each ship. There are special events, entertainment, menus, and more to ring in the new year: Events: Countdown parties and champagne toasts on the pool deck, a family-friendly dance party, and youth club celebrations Entertainment: Live music, guest piano players performing in the atrium, and the main stage show gets a holiday twist Menus: Special NYE menus in the main dining rooms, with dishes like lobster, filet mignon, and NY-inspired desserts. Lounges have specialty cocktails. Gifts: Passengers receive New Year's Eve keepsakes like champagne flutes and lithographs Fireworks: On some sailings, there are two nights of fireworks - on NYE and Pirate Night. So while Thanksgiving is acknowledged with a holiday meal, New Year's Eve goes above and beyond with decorations, events, entertainment and more to ring in the new year on the high seas. Holiday Cruises to Castaway Cay During the Very Merrytime Disney Cruises that sail over the Christmas season, Castaway Cay gets decorated to celebrate the holidays. The decorations and theming include: - A Christmas tree decorated with ornaments and lights - Fake snowfall on the beaches and trails - Holiday music playing throughout the island - Disney characters dressed up in seasonal costumes for photo opportunities Guests who visit Castaway Cay over Christmas can take pictures with Mickey, Minnie and pals dressed as elves, reindeer, toy soldiers, and in ugly Christmas sweaters. It makes for very festive and one-of-a-kind family photos. The holiday enhancements definitely put guests in the Christmas spirit as they explore Castaway Cay and partake in activities like snorkeling, biking, stingray interactions, and relaxing on the family or adult-only beaches. It becomes a tropical winter wonderland. Planning Your Disney Holiday Cruise https://youtu.be/we7wOC6Uhvg When planning your Merrytime or Halloween on the High Seas cruise, keep the following tips in mind: - These holiday sailings book up faster, so reserve early. - Opt for longer cruises to experience more of the festivities. - Pack costumes, holiday gear, or ugly Christmas sweaters to dress up. - Arrive early on embarkation day, since check-in tends to get busier. - Utilize the Navigator app to keep tabs on activities and events. - Capture the magic with holiday family photos and Christmas cards. - Buy commemorative merchandise only available on these sailings. Disney goes all out to provide memory-making holiday experiences that put you in the spirit of the season. From events to entertainment to decor and more, these cheerful cruises offer nonstop festive fun for family members of all ages. How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost in 2023?
https://lifesporttravel.com/?p=1683 How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost in 2023? - https://lifesporttravel.com/?p=1683 Before you begin planning your @DisneyParks cruise, you need to make sure you budget accordingly. The cost of a Disney cruise is not cheap when compared to other family-friendly cruise lines. To help families preparing to experience some Disney magic at sea, we put together this video detailing how much a Disney Cruise costs in 2023. DISNEY CRUISE COSTS 0:00 Introduction 1:10 What’s Included in a Disney Cruise? 2:25 Factors Affecting Cruise Costs 3:50 Cruise Cost by Ship 5:36 Disney Cruise Costs by Destination 7:25 Disney Cruise Costs by Cabin Type 9:20 What Costs Extra on a Disney Cruise? 9:33 Shore Excursions 10:35 Internet Packages 10:58 Cruise Gratuities 11:38 Premium Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Drinks 12:14 Specialty Dining 12:55 Souvenirs 13:28 Arcade 13:55 Spa and Salon 14:28 Exclusive Onboard Experiences 16:20 Disney Cruise Discounts 17:08 The Verdict HOW MUCH DOES A DISNEY CRUISE COST When looking at prices for a Disney cruise, there are several different factors you need to consider. The main determinate of the overall price of a Disney cruise will be the cruise ship cabin category. Interior rooms will be the least expensive, whereas concierge level and suites will be the most expensive. Disney Cruise Line consists of only 5 ships. However, it is generally true that newer ships are more expensive. Further, the region in which the ships are sailing and the time of year will impact the total costs of your trip. How much a Disney cruise costs will definitely vary depending on the destination. Sought after locales, like Alaska or Hawaii, will be more expensive than the Bahamas or Caribbean. Certain times of year like the summer and school vacations are also considerably more expensive. Once onboard the ship, the Disney cruise fare includes most food, non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment, and onboard activities. However, the price of a Disney cruise doesn’t include everything. Additional costs include specialty dining, shopping, and alcoholic beverages. Further, Disney Cruise Line does NOT offer drink packages like most other cruise lines. Of course, Disney cruise ships also have spas and salons that cost extra as well as makeovers at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for the little ones. Not to mention, there are other upcharges like shore excursions and cruise gratuities. When determining the total Disney cruise cost, you will need to also allocate funds for transportation to and from the cruise port. Flights and hotel stays will also increase the costs of the overall trip. Therefore, for a week long cruise, for a family of 4, we suggest budgeting $10,000 for a Disney Cruise. Yes, it can be done cheaper, but if you want to experience a little of everything, this is a pretty reasonable estimate. and @AdamsAway #disneycruiseline #disneycruise #cruisetips The happiest place on Earth is also at  Sea with Disney's Fleet of cruise ships   A voyage on board Disney Cruise Line has  loads to offer adults as well as children   However a big consideration for those booking  this cruise is how much a Disney cruise costs   So whether you're new to cruising or new to  Disney Cruise Line this video is for you as   We have a complete look at how much  a Disney cruise really costs up next Thank you welcome aboard Cruisers I'm Don B  from eat sleep Cruise where we help you plan   The perfect Cruise so you can see the world one  more at a time now the wife and I have been on   Over 65 different cruises with 14 different Cruise  Lines and while we just sail the two of us we're   Actually pretty fond of Disney Cruise Line but  unlike the competition Disney Cruise Line is a   Bit pricey so we put together this video where we  look at various booking and budgeting options to   Help you estimate how much your Disney Cruise will  truly cost and this will allow you and your family   To spend more time planning for the Disney cruise  and less time worrying about how much it will cost   Now in general cruises are a great  value as the accommodations many   Meals entertainment state-of-the-art kids  clubs and more are bundled into one price   As you see out at different destinations now the  cost of Disney Cruise will be impacted by several   Factors one of them of course is a time of year  if you choose to sell during peak times say like   Spring break or winter break or anytime kids are  out of school of course you're going to pay more   There's also seasonal themes like Halloween in the  high seas and Mickey's Christmas party which offer   Additional events to get into the holiday spirit  but can also bump up the rates of those particular   Cruises as do other theme sailings like Marvel day  at sea likewise the same premise applies to newer   Ships in the fleet for popular destinations  as well as upgrading to more spacious rooms   And while Disney Cruise does include a lot  especially the coveted character meet and   Greets there are plenty of extras on the ship that  can further empty your wallet from a special night   Out for the parents to a princess themedique  geared towards the little ones splurges on a   Disney cruise can quickly add up so even though  you're a cruise price will depend on a few factors   Type of cabin and whether you need some wine at  dinner it's good to start with a ballpark range   So on average expect to pay about 300 per person  per night for a Disney Cruise with a family of   Four sharing one cabin this is two adults  and two children we arrived at that number   By plugging in a few dates and destinations  and dividing the total cost for an entry   Level stateroom including Port taxes and fees  by the number of nights and then again by four   Now a couple things to consider most Cruise  cabins are sold at Double occupancy rates   Meaning two people to a cabin staterooms on  cruise ships are unlike a hotel room in the   Sense that each person must pay that rate the  amount isn't split by the number of occupants on   Disney Cruise Line they know that most passengers  are sharing their accommodations the few kids   So Cruise fares beyond the first two people in  the cabin are prorated for children ages 3 to 12.   They are for children who are six months to 35  months are reduced even further unfortunately   When it comes to pricing children aged 13 to 17  are considered adults up to five people can share   One stateroom depending on the category there's  also the option to book connecting staterooms   Typically the cruise fare is about 50 percent  cheaper for that third and fourth passenger if   They're under 12. but those passengers still need  to pay the full amount of port fees and taxes   Which can still be a couple hundred dollars per  person Cruise Line only consists of five ships but   Still a good rule of thumb to know is that newer  ships for any Cruise Line with the shiniest bells   And whistles also tends to be the most expensive  to book of course this is because they're brand   New and there's higher demand prices should taper  from there with older ships in the fleet typically   Displaying the most reasonable affairs ships in  the same class should reflect similar pricing   Depending on where they're actually deployed  even with that in mind all of Disney ships   Are immaculately maintained and prices vary  slightly based on the age of the ship and due   To the smaller Fleet they typically have one  ship or at most two ships in one particular   Region so if you're thinking of taking a Disney  cruise choosing a ship will probably come down to   Where you're looking to sail though each vessel  has its own special design touches and exclusive   Venues which keeps guests coming back for more  sailings on various ships for example the brand   New Disney wish is currently the only ship with a  dinner theater based on the hit franchise Frozen   This increase line currently operates Disney Magic  which was built in 1998 and Disney Wonder which   Was built in 1999. there's also the Disney Dream  which was built in 2011 and Disney Fantasy which   Was built in 2012 and the brand new Disney wish  which launched in 2022. searching for a four night   Bahamas cruise four people in September during the  Halloween the high seas entry-level State rooms   On Disney wish were about 270 dollars per person  per night now a similar sailing on Disney Magic   Which is over 20 years old was around 182 dollars  per person per night which is a 30 difference and   These are entry-level State rooms if you want to  upgrade to something like an ocean view Veranda   Or concierge Suites that will certainly cost you  more money there are two major costs associated   Considerations when booking at Disney Cruise  based on the destination these include the   Ports you'll be selling to including the length of  the cruise and the port you'll be departing from   For example Alaska is one of the most coveted and  therefore pricey for assassinations however if   Your family lives on the west coast and can easily  jump to Vancouver British Columbia Transportation   Won't be as big of a hassle of course the same  holds true for families in Florida Port Canaveral   Is the ultimate Disney Home Port just miles from  Walt Disney World in Orlando so Cruisers within   Driving distance can cut costs by choosing  a port that doesn't evolve long-haul airfare   The Caribbean is one of the most in-demand Cruise  itineraries but there's plenty of competition in   Those Waters thus Cruise fares remain relatively  steady with plenty of options for three and   Four night cruises on the same token a European  adventure with the whole crew might just be the   Ticket though you'll have to likely shout out  more for transatlantic plane tickets to Ports   Like Barcelona plus these ceilings are usually a  week or more at Sea which means more money down   It's important to keep the entire door-to-door  experience in mind when considering the overall   Cost of your Disney Cruise some destinations have  limited availability and therefore you should   Build as far in advance as possible some Cruise  Lines offer closeout deals however the Disney   Cruise crowd is usually one for advanced planning  leaving little last minute availability on unusual   Itineraries with only a few sale dates like Hawaii  10 nights one way from Honolulu is 190 per person   Per night for a family of four the same one-way  Hawaiian Adventure from Vancouver jumps to 328   Dollars per person per night as you've already  seen one of the most obvious price disparities   When booking a Disney cruise is between an inside  cabin and a suite choosing your cabin type is one   Of the most important and sometimes complicated  decisions when booking any sailing and considering   The cost luckily DCL is nothing if not family  oriented so even entry-level accommodations   Comma quote amenities like a privacy current  that separates sleeping from living areas   Some rooms even feature a magical portal  that displays video images of the ocean   And Disney characters at the ocean view level  and above a half bath with a toilet expedites   Getting ready in the morning and bathtub is a  wonderful touch for those who have little kids   Dcl's General cabin categories include inside  Ocean View Miranda and concierge the most   Notable difference is the inclusion of a window or  balcony at the concierge level the fares might be   Higher but rooms come with more perks these perks  include premium bedding free Wi-Fi reservations   At specialty restaurants and a dedicated Lounge on  the same one week Western crewing Crews from Miami   On board Disney Dream an inside cabin has a price  tag of over six thousand dollars for a family of   Four the concierge level was more than double  that at over thirteen thousand dollars however   The price difference quoted between an inside and  Ocean View room was just under 127 dollars total   Remember that four night Halloween in the high  seas Bahamas cruise on Disney Magic well to go   From an inside cabin to a balcony would be 218  per person per night or roughly a 20 increase   Now if that family of four really wanted to  splurge and get a concierge Suite on the brand   New Disney wish for the same fortnite Halloween on  the high seas cruise they'd be paying over fifteen   Hundred dollars per person per night which is over  five times as high as the entry-level Cruiser now   While the crews will include your accommodations  most dining and entertainment there are several   Additional costs you need to budget for the most  expensive element of any Disney Cruise vacation   Apart from the cruise fair is probably what you'll  do in each destination which Disney Cruise Line   Refers to as Port Adventures or if you Cruise you  know them as shore excursions short three-night   Getaways at Disney's private island of Castaway  Key might help reduce additional charges as you're   Able to enjoy many of the amenities in that Port  included in the cruise Fair but longer wow worthy   Family vacations to Alaska Europe or Mexico mean  multiple port calls and multiple opportunities to   Book shore excursions Disney shore excursions are  highly rated so the experience is not in question   However they can certainly add up for a family  of four in Jamaica a beach and water adventure   Is quoted on dcl's website as 109 for anyone  age 10 and up 99 for kids six to nine that's   A potential of 436 dollars for one day of Fun in  the Sun but for most ports you can save money into   Shore excursions by booking through independent  tour providers you can check third party websites   Or book directly with the tour providers that  often get a cheaper rate and a more authentic tour   While basic Wi-Fi is included at the concierge  level most other passengers dealing with social   Media addicted teens and iPad Reliant younger ones  will need to pay for an internet package packages   Range from 12 to 36 dollars per day per device yet  even the top tier package won't support certain   Streaming services Cruisers can make calls and tax  over Wi-Fi but a regular phone call is additional   A recommended gratuity of 14.50 per guest per  night or 15.50 for guests and Suites is added   To each Cruise fare including infants for our  family of four that equates to additional 58 per   Night of your cruise this automatic gratuity is  designed to support the wait staff in the dining   Room and your stateroom attendant amounts can  be changed by visiting Guest Services on board   However this is highly discouraged unless there's  significant service issues additional tips to any   Crew members who made your cruise outstanding  are always welcome but at your own discretion   Disney has you covered when it comes to soda  during meals in the teen club or from O'Fallon   Though any alcoholic beverages as well as  smoothies bottled water and other premium drinks   The little ones comes at an added price a cruise  line is unusual in the sense that it doesn't offer   Traditional all-inclusive drink packages still  adults 21 years and over it can purchase bundles   Of wine Free bottles for about 95 dollars or  six beers for the price of five any drink of   The day costs under seven dollars and Cocktails  on the ship usually hover around 10 to 12 dollars   While the unique rotating lineup of included main  dining rooms is unique to Disney Cruise Line there   Are restaurants that incur an additional charge  these are referred to as specialty dining Remy   An upscale French restaurant named after the rat  gifted with culinary arts and rat tattooi carries   A hefty cover of a hundred and twenty five dollars  per person so 250 for a couple not including any   Drinks the venues for adults only and available  on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy other adults   Only at a few restaurants on board Disney  ships are Apollo a Wonder magic dream fantasy   And Disney wish and on Shantae on wish  inspired by the Beauty and the Beast film   Did a Disney cruise even happen if there isn't a  character photo packages are just one of the many   Additional charges you might rack up once on board  the ship Disney's also a master merchandising   Everything from glowing Lawns and plushies to  clothing depicting the latest film characters   Are also sold in shops admittedly even us big kids  here couldn't resist buying a Disney Cruise Line   T-shirt or two as well as some ornaments and other  souvenirs so our advice is to set a budget with Admit it. There are times when you wish you could get away from it all by moving to your own private island. Well, some cruise passengers actually can at least for a day. Each of the following cruise lines below offer passengers a day of fun in the sun on their very own private island. For many cruisers, this stop is the highlight of the trip. After all, what could be better than sitting on a white-sand beach, drinking a pia colada and soaking in the rays without crowds? "It's a wonderful destination, we will come back next year for sure!" All of these islands have pristine shores, swaying palm trees, aquamarine waters and lots of ocean-side adventure. There usually are fees for shore excursions and equipment rental. Every destination offers something a little different for cruise passengers.
Tumblr media
View of buildings on the coast of tropical island San Andres y Providencia Even at first glance, CocoCay looks like the quintessential Caribbean hideaway. There are wide stretches of beach in quiet coves, island huts in bright Caribbean pinks and blues, and a colorful straw market offering Bahamian crafts and goods. Many of the island buildings look brand new and they are. In 2002, the company invested more than US$ 21 million to turn this 140-acre (0.5 km) slip of land into a destination their passengers would never forget. Nature trails wind through the isle, which is home to wild chickens, peacocks and occasional iguanas. Those seeking solitude will enjoy the hammocks that are hung under coconut trees in quiet locations.
Tumblr media
English Harbour, Hurricane Hole Sea lovers have plenty of activities to choose from. Hop on a jet ski (US $ 95 for 50 minutes) and speed across waters so clear that you can see orange starfish 20 feet below, or don a snorkel mask and explore life under the sea up close. For a great view of the island, try your hand at parasailing (US $ 79 per hour). You'll soar 200-400 feet in the air and maybe even take a cooling dip in the water before returning to the boat. Children will enjoy Caylana's Castle Cove and SeaTrek Aqua Park (US$ 15 adults, $10 children). Its floating sand castle and aquatic trampolines are just the things for those who are young at heart. A staff of 45 people lives on CocoCay, and it's obvious they take pride in keeping the island's natural beauty in top condition. Their pampering service makes the island experience so pleasurable that you won't want to leave when dusk falls all too soon. "Disney knows children, so it's no wonder that they feel at home on Castaway Cay" The cruise ship docks right at the island (other cruise ships use tender boats to ferry passengers back and forth), so youngsters can head right down the ship's ramp and out to explore Castaway Cay. There is a beach just for families, and Scuttle's Cove is a safe and fun club for children. Parents need some time on their own, so there is Serenity Bay, a secluded beach for adults. For a little pampering, have a relaxing massage in the open-air cabanas at the seaside spa.
Tumblr media
Street in Key West Game for a little exploration? Then grab a bike (child seats are available for little ones) and hit the trails (US$ 6 per hour). This is, after all, a secluded island getaway, and there are miles of empty shoreline and tropical forest to explore. If you prefer the water, check out the Walking and Kayak Nature Adventure ($60). Participants walk with a guide through the island's lush fauna and kayak through an ecologically sensitive mangrove environment. If paddling wears you out, just jump in for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear island waters. Teens can get into their own adventure on The Wild Side (US$ 35), an excursion that includes snorkeling, biking and kayaking. Families who want to adventure together can try the Seahorse Catamaran Snorkel Adventure (US$ 49 adults, US$ 29 children). This easy 45-minute sail takes you out to calm waters and unspoiled coral reefs. Even younger children will enjoy floating in the turquoise Caribbean Sea with schools of colored fish.
Tumblr media
View of the Caribbean Sea Visitors to the tiny islet of Motu Mahana (Polynesian for sunlit island) are greeted with the sounds of Polynesia. Les Gauguines, an eight-woman song and dance troupe, perform beguiling love songs in their Polynesian tongue while guests enjoy a scrumptious feast under the shade of thatched huts. After lunch, guests can relax in the sea or wade for yards in the shallow waters while waiters wearing bathing suits offer tropical drinks to those in need of refreshment. Try out the complimentary water sports like kayaking or snorkeling. For a different experience, board a motorized outrigger canoe and head to the beautiful island lagoon of Tahaa. Tahaa is known for two things: producing vanilla and black pearls. Guests can take a four-wheel drive tour into the hills to tour the vanilla plantations (US$ 65) or view French Polynesia's rare jewel, the black pearl, at the Motu Pearl Farm (US$ 64). From there, head to the lagoon for some quality time with the region's underwater fauna. There is even a small lagoonarium where rays, turtles, sharks and fish are enclosed in four different pools. MLQC Housemates Going on a Disney Cruise
I want more chaos!! Also I’ve had my fair share of Disney cruises
The pandemic made our Disney cruise get cancelled so I’m sad😶
Part 1
Tumblr media
Victor - Red, Lucien - Purple, Gavin - Blue, Kiro - Orange, Shaw - Green, MC (You) - Pink
There’s a good time every year where everyone got a chance off work so you guys decide on a vacation
When searching through places you discovered cruises and Disney was the best to go on
Kiro and you made a PowerPoint to get everyone on board
“If we go on a Disney Cruise not only will it suit all are likes but there’s bonuses that other cruises don’t have. For example, their private island, Castaway Cay.”
“Their food is top notch. You won’t eat the same food twice since there’s different places to get food. For dinner we rotate restaurants with high quality dinner and dessert.”
Gavin and Lucien were easily convinced and Shaw didn’t mind as long as he wasn’t bored
It was mostly to convince Victor since he wasn’t the biggest Disney fan but once Kiro showed him the adult lounges and food, he’s on board
Their destination would be tropical like Jamaica and Cozumel
Everyone packed and made sure that they checked everything off the list
Victor had to practical pack for Kiro since he was forgetting EVERYTHING and remind you
They flew to one of the ports a few days before boarding and had fun
For some reason Victor woke everyone up at 3 in the damn morning at the hotel
“We’re going to be late.”
“We don’t board until five hours.”
“That’s my point.”
Kiro and you were amazed at how big the ship is when driving towards it like little kids
When you boarded the ship, lines of employees announced a welcome to the...Li Family? Victor registered everyone as his family
Lucien took photos of everyone as you waited for them to let you to your rooms
When going to your separate rooms next to eachother you couldn’t help but put magnets on other’s doors
You decorated yours with princesses, Kiro had all his favorite characters, Gavin had a sky and ocean theme, Shaw was rock and roll with a few characters, Lucien was the most aesthetically pleasing
Everyone’s door had a different mickey logo with your names
As annoying idiots you put a whole bunch of magnets on Victor’s door because he didn’t want to put anything on it...let’s just say that only the door handle and room number was visible
It took him awhile to take off the ones he didn’t like and you couldn’t help but burst out laughing
The send off party was a blast Shaw was enjoying the music, Gavin and Kiro were dancing with you, Lucien was watching the ship move, and Victor was drinking some alcohol
Dinnertime was awesome as your servers were amazing at what they did and the food was to die for that even Victor was highly impressed
A bunch of girls kept coming over to your guy’s table to ask Kiro for a photo or an autograph which he didn’t mind but a table of hot men did get a lot of attention
At destinations Lucien made sure that Victor didn’t jam pack the schedule which caused a lot of tension between the two
The beaches were fun but a lot of women kept trying to cuddle close to the guys who just weren’t interested (I mean a group of abs🤤)
Lucien and Gavin shown that they did their research as they would give fun facts on a few places mostly to impress you
When you went on tours you would sleep on one of their shoulders back to the ship because the heat and walking was terrible
“You better not do anything to her while he’s asleep.”
“Geez, you’re such a stick in the mud. Why would I do something on a bus full of families?”
Fun fact you almost didn’t make it to the ship in time due to the guys mistaking a girl who was already on the bus instead of you
Kiro was freaking out, Shaw was like “dang”, Lucien believed you would make it back in time, Victor had to stop Gavin from flying off the boat to find you because a whole bunch of people will see him
There was so many activities that you split your time between each boy like bingo, trivia, cooking class, character meets, comedy shows, baby races, golfing contest
Gavin, Shaw, Kiro went on the slides on top deck while Lucien and you watched a movie on the big screen near the pool
Took a while for Victor to join everyone from the adult pool since he won’t admit it but it was boring and he was lonely
Each night was a different dress up so everyone dressed their best for professional photos
When everyone dressed in their suits and dresses, all moms and dads couldn’t help but look in envy at your gorgeous, handsome bodies
For pirate night you ate dinner in your costumes but Victor, who may not say, was a little bit embarrassed as almost the entire restaurant were already dressed up
The party on deck was a whole lot of fun with the show and the fire works
Gavin liked pointing out which one you should look at while Shaw was hammering down on the alcohol, Kiro was telling Lucien the time he was in a pirate show
“MC, look at that one to the left. Looks like the sun.”
“The sky is full of colors. It’s funny because I tried looked at the water and I couldn’t see anything.”
“A few months ago I stared on this short special called ‘Sailing Forward’. Maybe in the future I can be on a Disney show or movie!”
“I remember watching it with everyone. You were quite convincing for the character you played.”
“Shaw, stop drinking. You’re going to look indecent infront of little kids.”
“You can’t stop me, old man. I’m getting as much as I can.”
You all huddled together to watch the colorful sky in the night with nothing but water surrounding you
At Castaway Cay everyone snorkeled with Lucien taking photos underwater as you looked at the fishes and sunken statues
Victor would probably be in the adult side of the island for awhile until he gets lonely is just sitting around while the others are sliding down a water slide
Gavin leads the way when you bike around the island and Kiro even fell from his bike but wasn’t even bothered
You guys are booked for a group spa treatment and it is heavenly to hear the waves
Kiro cries when he has to say goodbye to the staff and the characters
They all asked to take a group photo with him since they obviously know he’s a huge celebrity
You guys brought home an album worth of photos even though Victor didn’t think it was needed
“Digital copies aren’t enough! We should put this in the living room.”
“Fine, whatever you say. At least I got some photos of you and the others being dummies.”

You don’t need to have seen documentaries like The Cove to feel uneasy about whales, sharks, and dolphins being held captive in tiny tanks at aquariums and theme parks. But instead of eliminating those experiences completely, which can help educate the public about these creatures, robots, like this self-contained swimming dolphin, could instead be the star attractions.
An idea that was first tested over 20 years ago might be the solution. At The Living Seas exhibit at Disneyworld’s Epcot center, which features a six million gallon aquarium, a robotic dolphin (also known as the Dolphin Robotic Unit, or DRU) would swim around the tank and interact with real divers and real sea life as part of a scripted performance for guests. It didn’t fool anyone until the robotic dolphin was used as part of an interactive experience at Castaway Cay, a private island Disney owns in the Bahamas used as a stop for its various cruise ships. Guests were able to get in the water and interact with the dolphin, and despite knowing it was a robot, the experience felt far more real given how close they were able to get to it. Two decades of robotics innovation later, special effects technicians from San Francisco-based Edge Innovations, working with Walt Conti and Roger Holzberg, the former Creative Director/Vice-President at Walt Disney Imagineering, have designed and built a new robotic dolphin that moves and swims with an almost eerie level of realism. Weighing in at a hefty 595 pounds, the robot has a battery life of about 10 hours, depending on its level of activity, and can survive in a saltwater environment for about 10 years, at which point new and improved models will presumably eventually replace it. The robotic dolphin was designed to not only simulate the movements and appearance of an actual adolescent-aged bottlenose dolphin, but to feel like one too with a realistic skeletal and muscle structure underneath its outer skin, and accurate weight distribution that helps make its swimming motions look like the creative is actually alive. But it’s not. The one thing missing from the robot dolphin are cameras, sensors, and intelligence to make it autonomous. Its essentially a self-contained puppet, with its movements controlled by a nearby operator so that the dolphin appears to respond in real-time to commands, or interactions with people.

Halloween Disney Cruise Trip Report
Tumblr media
By Grant Duvall
Having done all of the Disney theme parks as well as Aulani in Hawaii, my wife and I were missing a glaring Disney vacation.  We had not done a Disney cruise.  Of course, when we saw that there was a Halloween themed cruise, we had to jump at the chance.  So how creepy was it?
Tumblr media
First, let's get to the creepiest part of it.   The price.  This is much higher than your standard few day cruise.   We did three nights at a deal for $1700.  A couple could get a comparable cruise for around $800 here in Florida.  This is a higher end cruise, but you definitely see every penny going to good use.  Once you park your car and get into the terminal, the magic begins.  You can meet Mickey wearing his captain's uniform as you are checking in (don't worry if you miss him as you will have PLENTY of opportunities once you're on the boat).  Upon checking in, you enter the boat and you get the biggest, warmest, most magical welcome you could imagine.  They announce you over the loud speaker, and one great guy named Joey (he was one of the activity directors) remembered our names the whole cruise!  The main indoor area of the boat is decked out in Halloween goodness with decorations all over.  The standard procedure though is that you go to the top of the boat and do the Aquaduck water slide first and hang in the pool while everyone else is checking in.  The Aquaduck is a gentle yet fun aquacoaster that puts regular ship waterslides to shame.  Once some time has passed and you've eaten at the extensive buffet loaded with seafood and more dessert than you could shake  as stick at (I gained 8 pounds and am still working it off a week later), you check out your room.
Tumblr media
Rooms are spacious (we got the cheap one) as far as cruise ship rooms go.  Interestingly, above the bed is a fake porthole that shows the outside but randomly Disney characters such as Dumbo and the Genie fly by, superimposed over the porthole!  Gotta love that magic.  Most people would think that you would relax at this point and digest the food.  Alas, this is not the case with this cruise.  You will relax once you get off the boat!
Tumblr media
Everyone gathers up top for the sailing away show, where Mickey and friends do a song and dance routine as the boat sails off.  This was around 4 on day 1.  After that, it's time to meet characters in sailing gear.  After that, at 6, it's time to see the first Broadway show called the Golden Mickeys.  This was a high energy special effects show with a special appearance of Bob Igre as well as other Disney villains such as Ursula!  I can't convey how great the sets and costumes are as no photography is allowed, but I would happily pay $40 to see this hour long show.  After that show gets out, you then go to dinner.  Dinner is in one of three dining rooms, and the rooms rotate night by night so you eat in all of them.  You also get to eat with the same strangers all trip so buddy up and make a friend!  After that were more characters as well as another night show, and then a screening of Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D, complete with a Jack and Sally meet and greet.  By the time this was over, it was past midnight.
Tumblr media
The next day we landed at Nassau in the Bahamas at 8.  Of course, that means up by 7 so you can eat breakfast!  I personally wasn't a fan of Nassau as it's a lot of hawking and "hey, you need to buy this jewelry" and "let me braid your hair!"  If we did this again, we would likely stay on the boat and hang out at the pool.  Once back on, you start the Halloween themed night on the boat.  Characters are available to meet in costumes, a spooky tree tells stories, a costume contest happens, as well as trick or treating.  There's then a small show inside showing off the costumes.  At 6 it's time to go to your next broadway show, which for us was Beauty and the Beast.  This was more in line with the live action movie, and the sets and effects were incredibly impressive.  David Copperfield designed the (spoiler alert) scene where the beast changes into a prince.  Then it's dinner in a different room!  After that, Halloween is gone and now it's pirate night!  Yep, pirate night and Halloween night share the stage on the same day as this is a shorter cruise.  You get a Jack Sparrow stunt show on the boat which is a lot of fun, the classic characters in pirate garb, and a full on Disney fireworks show!  Yes, they do a lighter version of a Disney fireworks display from the ship!  After that, it's time for the late night pirate buffet where you can scarf on a turkey leg.  And before you know it, it's now after midnight.
Tumblr media
The last full day we landed at Disney's own island, Castaway Cay at 9 in the morning.  This of course meant up by 8 so you can have breakfast!  The island itself is very relaxing, with characters to meet in vacation garb, bbq food to eat, tropical drinks to drink, water slides, and snorkeling.  The snorkeling is really interesting as they sunk old Disney relics for you to find.  If you go to the right spots (they're marked with buoys) you can find old Disney ships from the parks and even an old sub from the submarine ride at the Magic Kingdom!  There's plenty of swimming and fun in the sun to be had.  After this, there are more characters to meet on the boat.  I'd like to point out that if you love characters, you will see the same classic characters doing more wardrobe changes than Stevie Nicks on this boat.  I think we counted no fewer than 6 different outfits for Mickey on this cruise.  At 6, time for the last broadway show called Disney's Believe.  This is the show that you would want to end the cruise with.  Lots of fun classic musical numbers, all of the characters you'd want all to a heartwarming story about family.  Of course, after this it was time for dinner (did I mention that dinner takes an hour and a half?) but this one was in a special room called the Animator's Palate.  Crush from Finding Nemo comes to life on the screens and talks to the tables (think Turtle Talk with Crush).  After this, you get the characters in formal gear, and then you get the goodbye show.  And the characters change clothes again, and it's now after 11.
Tumblr media
At 7:15 in the morning we got the non requested very loud wake up call, as it's time to kick everyone off the boat so they can start loading it up again in a few hours.  I'll say that sadly, there is no magic on this last day.  It's all business and ensuring that the boat is ready for the next group.  It's an understood reason why it felt that way but it would have been nicer to have a little of that Disney magic on the way out.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, we are very glad that we got to do the cruise.  It was worth the money as the shows were phenomenal and character hunting is a past time of ours.  However, there is no down time and this was the opposite of a relaxing vacation.  We can't wait for our next cruise which we just booked though, Alaska next May!
Tumblr media
Creepy scale 1-10....3.  You get some good creepy pumpkins and villains but it's ultimately meant for families (although some of the people we met in Nassau would bump it up to a 10 easily!)

Admit it.
