“You’re here!” You greeted Sebastian with a hug.
Sebastian smiles and wrapped his arm around your waist securely and used his other one to close the door. He gently set you on the floor and kissed you sweetly.
“I missed you.” You say against his lips.
“I missed you more, baby.” Sebastian says, pulling you closer to him.
You smiled against his lips and took his hand in yours, leading him to the living room and sat down on the couch.
“Where’s your son and daughter?” Sebastian asks.
“Their friend’s mom is giving them a ride home. They should be home soon.” You tell him.
You moved closer to him and Sebastian wrapped his arm around you.
“Are you nervous to meet them?” You asked, looking up at him.
“A little. I just want to make a good first impression for them.” He says.
“There’s nothing to be nervous about.” You take his hand in yours. “They’ll love you.” You say with a reassuring smile.
Sebastian smiles and leaned down to kiss you. That’s when the door opened and closed.
“Mom, we’re home!” Your 13 year old son Ben shouts.
“Are you home?” Your 13 year old daughter Abby asks.
“Living room!” You shouted back.
Their jaws dropped the second they walked in the living room and saw Sebastian.
“Abby, Ben, this is my boyfriend—” Abby and Ben interrupted you.
“Carter Baizen!” “Bucky Barnes!” Abby and Ben say at the same time in surprise.
Sebastian chuckles at their surprised state and stood up, holding out his hand for them to shake which they did.
“I’m assuming you two already know who I am. Your mom told me all about you guys.” Sebastian says with a smile.
Abby and Ben nodded their heads. They were so surprised that they didn’t know what to say.
“So you and our mom are dating?” Abby asks Sebastian.
“Yes we are.” Sebastian says with a smile and wraps his arm around your waist.
“This is the coolest thing ever!” Ben says excitedly.
“Mom is dating an actor!” Abby says excitedly.
You and Sebastian laughed at their excitement.
“So you two are ok with me having a boyfriend?” You asked them.
“More than ok.” Ben says.
“We just want you to be happy.” Abby says.
You smiled and gave them a hug.
“How about you two do your homework and we can go get something to eat.” Sebastian suggested.
They nodded and went to their bedrooms to do their homework.
“I think it’s safe to say that they love you.” You say, hugging Sebastian.
Sebastian kissed you in agreement.
“I love you, Sebby.” You say against his lips.
“I love you too, sweetheart.” Sebastian says softly, smiling against your lips.

Okay, I need to rest, but I seriously need to ask...
Anyone here got any fic recommendations. Preferably ones with earth-shattering romance, and fluff, angst and so much cuteness... Happy endings only please.
I'm in a romantic mood, and the fics I'm scrolling through aren't doing it, so are my books.
And please not the brutal ones, I'm feeling maybe a few fight scenes. But not too much violence, with little to no smut...
And either Chris, any of his characters, Seb, Bucky, or Loki. Maybe Carter Baizen or Jefferson, and Thomas, I have a soft spot for them
I'm sorry that I'm basically demanding so much, I just need help finding a fic that'll best suit my mood, and so far, I'm having no such luck because I'm looking in the wrong places. And I trust y'all have some pretty good recommendations, so... I'm open to suggestions. Feel free to message, comment, reblog or ask your recs 😊 Thank you ❤️
Tumblr media
Okay, now I'm going to sleep 😅
Good night! Love y'all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

lizwas fanfics: 2022 in review
so this was my second year ever of writing and posting on ao3, and for me, because I have chronic tunnel vision when it comes to tasks, thought I would do a look back at all I've written this year because hoooooooooooo boy 'twas a lot.
To render again and receive | 12.8k | E an unexpected addition to the little women au-verse, but very fun and delightful to put together! from Dan's pov, taking place between chapters 1 & 2 of a Heart in port.
But you can make decisions too | 11.1k | M an installment of my Date season 4 AU - Saints & Sinners, but with a gay twist!
all the things you are (are mine) | 4.3k | E a smutty valentine's fic starring Dair, as it is their holiday after all
I'm stuck on your heart | 4.7k | M a valentine's day fic for Dan/Nate, inspired by that one bit in schitt's creek
(everything you say sounds like) sweet talk | 3.5k | T season 4 Dair au, inspired by Jonah and Amy from Superstore
such a lot of world to see | 23.1k | E part of the Mouthful of Forevers s6 and beyond au. Dan and Blair spend the summer backpacking through Europe (well, Blair's definition of backpacking)
an ever-fixèd mark | 5.3k | E another unplanned addition to the floating castle dreams series, brought on by s2 of Bridgerton and that one scene in atonement
it's something new (because of you) | 3.9 | E part of what I call the Milo-verse. Dan and Blair get married and are soooooooo sappy about it. A smutty scene from Dan and Blair's honeymoon in Tuscany.
without effusion of blood | 6.1k | E just what happened after 2.18 when Blair brought Carter Baizen home? this fic tries to answer that question.
the whole web of it | 4.8k | G future fic in the MoF series. Dan celebrates his birthday with his wife and kids. tooth rottin fluff.
(the more you say) the less I know | 70.9k | T the big one of the year, the Pride and Prejudice AU, starring Dan as Lizzie, Blair as Darcy, and a whole host characters causing drama and comedy alike
that’s the kind of love (I’ve been dreaming of) | 3.4 | E absolutely filthy kinky sequel to a smut oneshot from last year. Married!Dair being total simps for each other
for better or worse and the promise of verse | 19k | E another installment in the Miloverse. AKA The One Where Blair and Dan Get Married. Possibly the sappiest thing I have ever written.
where the sun falls down on me | 29k | M Jenny goes to spend the summer off from uni in the Hamptons, with her brother and his fiancée (ugh), and their best friend, her old pal Nate Archibald. Jenate, with a side of Dair & Rufly.
at first chance | 7.1k | E smutastic epilogue to the above. Jen spends an evening alone in Nate’s new flat, waiting for him to get back from his bar shift. Nate’s not the best at building furniture.
let love consume me | 2.1k | E dairthaniel pwp. no context necessary.
never for money, always for love | 25k | NR collection of drabbles written to one word prompts on tumblr. Enclosed is: Dair, Date, van der Humphreys, Haizen, Blairena, Jenate, Serenessa, Dangina, Dairthaniel, Serenate, and much fluff angst and canon divergence.
punch drunk kiss (I know you need it) | 2.4k | E Dan x Carter Baizen. Carter pov following one of the drabbles above. P.W.P. Written for Kinktober
twin flame bruise | 15.2k | T Derena. An au of the musical The Last Five Years. Dan and Serena’s loving but doomed relationship, told in flashes and vignettes from each person’s perspective. with a side of dairfair.
anyway the wind blows | 2.6k | T inspired by the song “Westbound BART,” an imagined prequel of how Rufus Humphrey met Alison in late 80s San Francisco.
a hard day’s night | 4.5k | E porn with a little bit of plot. Blair comes home after a long day at the office and asks Dan for a favor to help her unwind. Written for Kinktober.
like a lightbulb in a dark room | 4.3k | E Dairthaniel. Written for Kinktober. smut with a soupçon of plot.

a snowfall kind of love | 49k | T AU of Nancy Meyer’s The Holiday. Vanessa and Blair switch houses for their Christmas vacations, and end up falling for people in the other’s respective cities. Dair & Natessa, featuring special appearances by Milo Humphrey and Cyrus Rose.

Pairing: Carter Bazien x Nerdy!Reader
Words: 1900+
Author’s note: Hey, guys! So, this is my first post. I had promised my lovely @cxddlyash a fic for her birthday! Let me know what you think! Enjoy and happy reading!
Warnings: Angst, fluff, an asshole and just Carter Bazien in general.
You took a drink of wine as you watched Carter from across the room. He gave you a wink and a smirk as the blonde he was flirting with took him to one of the back rooms of the club. You rolled your eyes before downing your wine.
You sat down at the bar waving to the bartender for another glass. You glanced behind you at the back rooms. You and Carter have been friends since you guys were kids. You have been there for each other until he started playing his games. You and Carter were very different. He was more into money and girls while you were more interested in reading and staying out of everyone’s games. But like the other girls, you fell hard for Carter Baizen.
You sighed before downing your second glass. The bartender gave you a glance as he cleaned a cup. You gave him a smile before placing money down. “This is for the wine and the drinks the guy I was with ordered.” He nodded and took the cash. You took out your phone and hovered over his name. You shook your head before putting your phone away and leaving.
-
You sat on your couch reading a book. You groaned as you heard a knock on the door. You got up and looked through your spyglass. “Carter?” You whispered to yourself before opening the door. Carter looked at you before walking into your apartment.
“Where the hell did you go?” He asked while stepping into your apartment. You closed the door behind him and leaned up against it.
“I came home. You were…busy,” you mentioned and Carter chuckled, walking into your kitchen. You watched as he poured himself a glass of whiskey.
He downed the alcohol before rubbing a hand down his face. “You could have told me.”
You scoffed. “Uh huh. So what? You could try to convince me to stay as you fuck another whore?!”
Carter then scoffed. “Is that all you think I do?”
“No Carter, I know that’s all you fucking do. And…and you expect me to go along with everything you do. I’m not like you Carter! I’m sick of watching your games!” You felt your anxiety rising. Carter walked towards you.
He nodded as he licked his lips. “I see.” You watched him carefully. You moved away from the door and from him. You knew Carter was beyond pissed at you. He chuckled before pinning you against the wall. “Well at least I can get someone in the bedroom. I don’t think we need to be reminded about senior year now do we?” You began to tear up at the memory. You stayed against the wall as Carter left your apartment.
You looked at Carter from the passenger seat. “Are you sure about this?”
He gave you a reassuring smile. “Of course I am. You know I wouldn’t put you in any situation you were uncomfortable with.” You smiled slightly before looking at the mansion just down the road from the car. Carter got out and opened your door. You laughed as he held out his hand.
“What a gentleman.” You said as you took his hand. He laughed before leading you to the party. You felt uncomfortable as some of the girls glared at you for being with Carter.
“I’m going to get us some drinks. You go wait outside for me. It’s not as loud out there.” He said to you over the music. You nodded before going outside. You shifted uncomfortably as a few guys checked you out. “Here we are.” You quietly thanked Carter as you took a drink.
Carter led you to a group sitting outside. “Ladies, gentlemen, this is y/n.” You waved awkwardly before sitting down next to Carter. You took sips of your drinks as Carter flirted with the girls.
You glanced over at the guys. Some were participating in their own conversations. You blushed as one smirked your way. You looked behind you to see if anyone was behind you. He chuckled slightly before shuffling towards you. He introduced himself as Victor. Carter patted your thigh as you and the guy flirted back and forth. He whispered in your ear before getting up with you.
Carter glanced at you before motioning to the guy. You chuckled as you heard him say, “be careful with her.” Your smile faded when you noticed some of the other guys looking at you with devilish smirks. “Come on, babe.” Victor said before putting a hand on your back. He led you through the party and up the stairs. He pulled you against him as he began to kiss your neck.
The people in the hallway moved out of your way as he pulled you into a room. You bounced as he pushed you on the bed. He kissed you heavily as he began to strip you of your clothes. With the alcohol running through your system, you failed to notice what was happening around you. You shifted uncomfortably as Victor began to go lower. He glanced at you as you began to push him away. “I-I don’t feel comfortable with this…”
Victor rolled his eyes as he sat up slightly. “Can you just shut up so I can fuck you and get this over with. I have more people on that fucking list to get to.” He said as he went back to kiss your neck. You fully pushed him off and began gathering your clothes.
“What list?”
He scoffed and went to grab his phone. Your eyes widened once you noticed it was recording. “A list of pathetic girls to fuck that we bet money on. I’m shocked you didn’t catch on being friends with Baizen.”
You shook your head as you wiped the tears away. Carter wouldn’t do that to you would he? Before Victor could say another word, you quickly left the room. Your mind was running a mile a minute as you pushed through the dancing bodies. You wrapped your arms around yourself as you walked home.
You wiped your tears away. “Fuck you, Baizen.”
-
You laughed as you and your friends walked into the club. It had been a month since the interaction between you and Carter. “Alright ladies, I’ll be right back with drinks.” Sarah said before heading up to the bar.
You sat and chatted with the other girls until Sarah got back. “Y/n, I just want to warn you because I love you that Baizen is here.” You froze slightly before looking for him. You rolled your eyes as you saw him flirting with a blonde. You downed the shot Sarah brought back. The girls exchanged looks. Sarah smiled. “Yeah! That’s the spirit babe!” The others took their shots before Sarah asked for more.
After a couple more shots, you gained the confidence to go and confront your best friend. As you made your way, you heard a voice you haven’t heard since that night. “Come on Baizen. You still owe me for that night. I may not have fucked her but I still got her clothes off. That’s gotta count for something.” Victor said before taking a drink of his scotch. “She was the last person on that stupid list and it was your idea.” Your heart broke when you heard Victor say that. Tears clouded your vision as you turned to walk away. Carter was about to say something when he saw you walk away from them. His eyes widened slightly before going after you.
“Y/n!” Carter yelled over the music.
“You fucking asshole! That was one of the worst nights of my life and you were in on it! I can’t believe you would do something like that! That fucking hurts worst than getting humiliated.” Carter looked at the crowd gathering around them. He sighed before bringing you to a more private location.
“It was a harmless joke, y/n” He whispered as he tried to grab your hand. You scoffed before moving your hand away.
“A harmless joke? You’re the fucking joke Baizen. I want you to leave me alone.” You said before walking out of the club.
-
You smiled as you took in the aroma of the café. Sarah waved at you as you approached the table. “Hi honey. I got you a hot chocolate.”
“Oh you’re the best.” You said as you sat down and took in the smell. She laughed before looking at the door as the bell rang. You gave her a confused look as her smile faded. “What?”
“Baizen just walked in.” You turned and locked eyes with Carter. He hesitated before walking over to you guys. Sarah rolled her eyes. “Bazien. What do you want?” She said with a fake smile. You gave her a look. She shrugged when she looked at you.
“I want to talk to y/n.”
You grabbed Sarah’s hand before she could reply. “We can talk. You have a minute.” He nodded and motioned to an empty table. You gave Sarah a reassuring smile before following Carter.
“So, how have you been?”
You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms. “What do you want? You have a minute.”
Carter sighed. “Look, I’m sorry. I was younger back then and an idiot. I wasn’t really thinking-”
“Bullshit. Forty seconds. I don’t want your lies Carter. You only care about money.”
“I don’t only care about money. I care about you the most.”
You bitterly laughed. “If you actually cared about me, you wouldn’t have set me up. Twenty seconds.”
Carter groaned. “Why do you care so fucking much?” He said lowly to not make a scene.
“Because it hurts to be betrayed by someone you love. Time's up, goodbye Carter.” Carter stared at you as you got up.
“You love me?”
You nodded and walked away.
-
Carter sat in his car staring at your apartment building. After your interaction in the café, he has done nothing but think about what you had said. Maybe that’s the reason why he felt so guilty when you left the party last night. Maybe he was just hoping it was something you could work past but it caused you pain and it was all his fault. He didn’t want to realize his feelings for you. He felt as if he would have been looked at differently if he was with someone like you but that was just high school talking. He fell in love with you and didn’t want to face it.
He gripped the steering wheel before hitting it in frustration. He then got out of his car before making his way up to you. He hesitated before knocking on your door. He smiled slightly when he heard the muffled, “I’m coming.”, before opening the door. You looked taken back when you saw him. “Carter-” Your sentence was interrupted by Carter grabbing your waist and pulling you into a kiss.
He pushed you into your apartment before he broke it. “Wha-”
“Don’t say anything. Just listen. Please.” He said before looking into your eyes. “I love you, y/n. I felt so guilty for what I did to you and I am so sorry. I was stupid and didn’t realize what the fuck I was doing. I just-I can’t lose you.” He said quietly. You smiled before pulling him into another kiss.
You placed your hands on his face. “I love you, Carter Baizen. Now and forever.”
He smiled. “Be mine?”
“Always.”

Win you back
Pairing: Carter Baizen x Bass!reader
Warnings: a little angsty, kinda sad at some parts, bad writing tbh 🤪🥴🙃
AN: I have been working on this for WAYYYYYYYYYY too long for it to suck this much
“Babe I’m here.” You call, walking into the kitchen of your boyfriend’s family’s home.
You walk around the penthouse, looking for him. Finally his mother appears, eyes glued to her phone.
“He’s in his room.” She mutters, walking away before you can even say thank you.
You shrug to yourself, knowing better than to bother her at all. Turning the corner, you make your way over to his room.
It seemed as though you were always there. His parents were used to you just walking in, as was the maid.
“Hey Baby, your mom told me you were in here and-.” You start as you enter the doorway, stopping when you see the mess of his bedroom. His clothes are tossed all over the place, empty hangers fill the closet and the thing that really makes you stop is the duffel bag laying across the bed.
“Oh! Hey y/n...” He says as he walks out of the en-suite, looking surprised to see you.
“Hi... what’s- what’s all this?” You ask, a feeling of unease settling into the pit of your stomach.
“I,” he begins, tossing some of the clothes and other junk into the bag as he speaks. “Am leaving. I’m sick of this place. And of all this stupid glamour.” He finishes, a smile on his face as he finally looks up at you for the first time since you’d gotten there.
“Oh? And where are you off to then?” You ask with a playful smile of your own, hands on your hips.
“Anywhere I want to.” He responds.
You grin, sitting down on the bed. “Sounds like fun. What if I, say, came with you?” You ask, looking over at him hopefully.
“No!” He exclaims, making you jump a little. “Sorry, I just mean no.” He sighs.
“And why not?” You ask with a frown, feeling a little bit hurt.
“Like I said, I want to get away from all of the stupid glamour.” He mutters, looking back at his things.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” You demand with a scoff.
He groans, finally looking over at you again.
“I mean, you’re a part of this place.” He blurts, looking away again as your bottom lip starts to tremble.
“W-what?” You ask sadly.
“You’ve faded into all the glamour y/n. You’re exactly like all the spoiled, gossiping rich girls at Constance.” He cries, shaking his head a little.
“Excuse you?” You demand, glaring over at him.
“I need to get away. From you, from this city, from the money hungry people. It’s nothing personal.” He shrugs nonchalantly, as though he hadn’t just single handedly shattered your heart.
You march up to him, slapping him hard across the face.
“I can’t believe I’ve wasted so much time on someone who would talk about me or my friends like that. Go to hell Carter.” You hiss, tears stinging your eyes as you storm out the door, letting it slam harshly behind you.
You quickly walk back to the elevator and press down, not looking back at all.
—————————————————
Stepping off the platform you sigh, looking around you at the familiarities of the old train station. Memories come flooding back, making you remember the pain and suffering you endured while you were last in New York.
Much like Serena, you’d ran away from your problems. You figured bits of your shattered heart could probably still be found around the city, fragments of your past turned to dust by now.
“Hey! You’re finally here!” Serena exclaims excitedly, pulling you in for a tight hug.
You laugh softly, embracing her and her sickeningly sweet perfume before grabbing your suitcase from behind you.
“Hey. It’s great to be back.” You say, looking around almost hopefully.
“He isn’t here.” She says simply.
You sigh, beginning to walk with her quietly.
“I figured he wouldn’t be.” You say softly, a sad smile appearing on your face.
“He’s not even in New York anymore. It’s like he disappeared or something. So I’m sure you won’t see any of him. Definitely not at the ball.” She assures you, squeezing your arm in support.
“Yeah. Probably not.” You hum absentmindedly. You shake your head a bit, blinking yourself out of the past. “Whatever. Where’s my idiot of a big brother anyway?” You ask, forcing a smile to spread across your lips.
“Surprisingly, he’s not at the empire. He’s actually at cotillion rehearsal.” She says with a roll of her eyes, making you giggle a little.
“Oh? I’m shocked.” You laugh as the two of you climb into the back of the car parked outside just for you.
The drive is silent, you looking out the window in thought of the past and Serena on her phone, leaving you be. She knew better than anyone, even your brother, how much you needed space when it came to thinking of him.
“So, who’s your escort to the ball tonight?” You ask, trying to fill the silence.
“Oh, I’m not going. I just didn’t take much interest in it anymore.” She says with a shrug.
“Ah. I’m sure Cece is pleased.” You say teasingly, smiling a bit.
“I haven’t told her yet but I’m sure she’ll understand.” She says and you raise an eyebrow but she merely shrugs.
After dropping your luggage off back at the hotel, the two of you go off to the dance studio where you find the majority of your old schoolmates in the middle of dance practice, twirling and switching partners with ease.
You watch as your brother dances around with the girls who, to no ones surprise, were practically drooling over him along with his best friend.
“Oh great, y/n is back.” Blair says sarcastically as she comes over and pulls you into a hug, making you laugh a bit.
Though Blair could be hostile, she and Serena had become your honourary family over the years which happened to mean you were used to it.
“Hi B. Good to see you too.” You say with a smile, leaning back against the wall.
“Why aren’t you getting your ass out there? I thought you were taking part in cotillion this year.” She asks.
You let out a sigh and push a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“Yeah I was. Then... I just don’t feel it anymore I guess.” You say with a shrug and a half smile. She nods a bit, understanding what you mean. She quickly rushes back into the crowd and continues with the dancing, smiling apologetically your way as she glides past.
“So why are you here if you’re not going?” You ask Serena, not taking your eyes off of the couples.
“I’m meeting with grandma and Dan so they can meet.” She explains and you nod, following her through the bodies of dancing teenagers as she goes running over to the boy you’d heard so much about.
“Oh, Dan this is y/n, Chucks little sister. Y/n, this is Dan, my boyfriend and his little sister Jenny.” She introduces with a smile.
Dan waves awkwardly and you nod in greeting, too busy watching the dancers to speak.
As much as you didn’t want to take part in the cotillion, you couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the traditions of the whole thing. The dancing was the best part, something magical about moving in sync with everyone else in the room.
Lily enters the room, talking on the phone with one of the many organizers of the event. She lectures them for a moment about how Cece wouldn’t be happy if she didn’t have it exactly her way.
You for one, knew for a fact that that was true.
“Y/n, darling you’re back.” She exclaims as she slips her phone in her bag, hugging you quickly.
“Yeah I figured it was about time and you know there’s no time like the present.” You tell her with a smile and she smiles back warmly.
The two of you chat for a moment but soon Cece arrives and Lily is back to being busy with her planning and with her family.
You stand by your lonesome, swaying to the music as you watch your old friends together, ignoring the nagging feeling of nostalgia tugging at your heart.
When the music stops, your brother comes waltzing over to you with a sly grin.
“Ah so my baby sister finally decides to return to society.” He comments and you roll your eyes, smiling a bit.
“Oh shush. I was away at school, not dead.” You giggle, hugging him tightly. He reluctantly hugs back, knowing you wouldn’t let go unless he did.
To many people, your brother was cold and closed off and a perve. To you, he was a big old softie with a wall around his heart, keeping him closed off to anyone he felt necessary. Still a perve, you knew that much. Just not around you.
“Let’s go runt, you’ll see everyone later.” He says, wrapping an arm around your shoulder.
“Yeah yeah. See ya Serena.” You call over your shoulder and she smiles and waves as you walk away.
——————————————————
That night as you sit at the hotel painting another coat of nail polish over your toes, your phone starts ringing. You pick it up, holding it close to your ear and carefully putting down the brush.
“Hello, y/n speaking.” You say, listening for a response.
“Hello darling. It’s Cece.” The woman you remembered so well says sweetly from the other end.
“Oh hi Cece. I’m sorry we didn’t have the chance to catch up earlier.” You say, sitting up a little straighter even though you know she’s not actually in the room with you.
“It’s fine dear, don’t even mention it. I just called to ask if you would consider helping me plan the rest of the cotillion. You always have had an eye for detail, I’d love to have you there as a second opinion.” She asks hopefully.
You look out the large window at the darkened New York sky, pondering your options.
“I’d love to.” You reply, already regretting your decision.
“Oh lovely. The tea that Blair is throwing is tomorrow so you can come with Serena and we’ll discuss it then.” She says.
“Alright, I will be there. Goodnight Cece.” You say back sweetly, not bothering to mouth your confusion to Serena coming to tea. She says a quick goodnight and hangs up the phone.
You sigh, wondering why you decided this was a good idea.
A few hours later, your brother once again comes barging into your room without so much as a knock.
“Chuck, you do realize there’s a door there for a reason right?” You ask him, moving over to make room for him to sit down.
“I’m aware.” He replies.
“Then why didn’t you use it? For all you know I could’ve been changing.” You remind him with your arms crossed over your chest.
“Oh please. I have girls around here often enough that you know not to leave the door open when you’re changing in case I have company.” He says with a doubtful eyebrow raised.
“I’ve also been gone for about a year. What if I had forgotten?” You point out.
He rolls his eyes. “I know you. You have a good memory, you don’t forget anything.” He says simply and you shrug, knowing he’s right.
“Alright then. What exactly did you need?” You ask, leaning back into the pile of pillows behind you.
“”I heard you’re helping with cotillion. You sure you can handle that?” He questions, examining your face for any sign of upset.
“I’ll manage thanks. How’d you even know about that so fast?” You ask, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“A little Waldorf told me.” He says with a smirk.
You make a disgusted expression and smack his arm with a pillow, recoiling a bit.
“That is one of my best friends you’re talking about. And she’s technically your best friends girlfriend. You’re lucky I don’t like drama otherwise I’d have told Nate by now.” You scold seriously.
Chuck scoffs. “You’d betray your own brother like that sis?” He asks, feigning hurt.
You nod. “He’s also one of my best friends. I definitely would.” You say as you pull a blanket over your body.
He laughs a bit, rolling his eyes. “Always the loyal one sis.” He remarks sarcastically before making his way out of your room.
You curl up more, trying to get yourself used to to living in your fathers hotel instead of a quaint dorm room again.
After a few hours of fitful tossing, turning and overthinking, you finally drift off.
——————————————————
“Ah y/n, there you are!” Cece exclaims as you come out of the elevator to Blair’s penthouse.
You’d decided against coming with Serena when she’d told you she was coming with Dan, not feeling like being a miserable third wheel.
“Hi Cece.” You greet with a welcoming smile, pulling your bag over your shoulder a little more.
She gives you a moment, rushing around as you pull off your coat and put it down with your purse and then she comes rushing back, clearly enthralled with the planning.
“Alright dear, I’ve had one of the other volunteers set up a table over here for you to work at. You can also participate in the tea of course, it’s just until everyone else arrives.” She instructs and you nod, taking a seat at the table she pointed out.
You sit there for a good hour, working out the last minute details Cece had no clue what to do with.
By the time you’re finally through everything, the majority of the debutants are sitting in Blair’s living room, listening to Ceces stories in complete fascination.
You recognize the story shes telling and decide it would be a good time to get food, walking over to where you see Dorota standing, ready to help anyone who needed it.
“Hi Dorota!” You say happily, having missed her more than most others. She was always happy to see you over with Blair and Serena when you were young.
“Oh miss y/n! It’s been so long.” She says cheerfully, pouring you a cup of tea.
You gladly take it, chattering a bit with Dorota until she has to get back to work.
You stand in a corner by yourself, not wanting to bother anyone as you try to listen to more stories but your train of thought continues to go back to the time where you were happier than ever on the Upper East Side.
Your thoughts are interrupted as you hear the one name you thought you’d never have to hear again.
“Serena darling, this is Carter Baizen. Your escort for tomorrow night.” Cece introduces and you feel your heart practically stop and you swear you hear it’s slow cracking.
How you hadn’t noticed him with her at all before Serena arrived, you had no clue. You didn’t really care either. You just wanted to be able to disappear into the floors and never come back here.
Memories flood through your brain, making you wince a bit as you feel the starts of an incoming headache.
“Y/n are you ok?” Isabelle asks, clearly concerned.
You wave a hand as best you can, feeling like your feet are glued in place.
“Yeah totally fine. Just busy you know?” You offer, forcing yet another smile.
She nods slowly, clearly not completely buying your response but obviously not caring enough to pester you for more of an answer.
Knowing better than her minions ever did, Blair hurries over to you as subtle as possible.
“Oh my god, I cannot believe he’s here.” She murmurs, sneering at his back. “The nerve of that boy. Are you ok?” She asks, turning back to you with a much softer expression.
“Fine. Nothing I can’t handle.” You mutter, staring down at the floor and away from your former love.
“Are you sure? Because I can have him thrown out of here if you want. It’d be more mercy than he deserves but.” She asks, trailing off a bit.
You smile weakly, squeezing Blair’s hand a bit.
“As oddly sweet as that is B, I’m fine. I swear.” You respond. She sighs, clearly bored by the idea of not being allowed to mess with him.
You usher her away, knowing how badly she wants to go mingle and walk over to the food, grabbing something you can shove into your mouth.
“Very classy y/n.” A voice says from behind you and you turn around, looking at him wide eyed with your mouth full. You quickly swallow the food in your mouth, trying not to choke in the process.
“Baizen. I’d say it’s good to see you but I’d be lying.” You mutter, crossing your arms over your chest to keep from figetting too much.
“Ah, the classic Bass hospitality I see.” He notes sarcastically, his overly confident smirk in place.
“I save it just for you.” You retort with an icy smile.
“Ah yes, that’s exactly what I thought.” He replies, popping an appetizer into his mouth.
“Oh because you know me so damn well.” You mutter bitterly, voice dripping with sarcasm.
He rolls his eyes. “Yes actually, I like to think I do.” He says, lowering his voice so only you can hear him.
“Well, you thought wrong but are we really that surprised about that?” You growl, narrowing your eyes in his direction.
“What are you doing here Carter, no one here likes you.” You ask bluntly.
“It seems Cece does. And besides, I was asked.” He replies nonchalantly, taking a teacup filled with something that is definitely not tea.
“Oh please, Cece only asked you because you were once the model son. She just hasn’t seen your true colours yet.” You hiss with a smile still grazing your lips.
He scoffs, watching in amusement as you walk away gracefully, walking over to find Cece.
By the time you find her, Carter has already been talking with her for a while. You scowl at him before plastering on a smile and aiming it in Ceces direction.
“Oh y/n dear, perfect timing! Carter was just about to tell us all about his endeavours!” She says excitedly as she guides you and the other girls over to a seat around the Waldorf coffee table.
Though you try to excuse yourself several times, you’re forced to sit and listen to Carter boast about his travels, making small and nearly unnoticeable digs at Serena every now and then, trying to gauge a reaction from her.
You feel a twinge of hurt, wondering where they could have possibly been travelling together and why it was such a big deal to him.
“I can still kick him out.” Blair singsongs in your ear as she passes by again. You laugh, rolling your eyes a little.
“B, it’s fine.” You assure her for the hundredth time, hoping it’s believable.
She walks off with a shrug and you stand, not sure how much more of his voice you can take.
Excusing yourself, you walk back over to the table and drown your sorrows in tea and the last minute cotillion details.
——————————————————
“Ok so the girls line up on the stairs and wait to be announced-“ Cece begins, pointing out the places as she explains.
“Cece, I’ve seen so many of these since I was a little kid. I know how they go.” You promise, squeezing her hand in reassurance.
“Alright dear, I have to go get ready so I’ll leave you to it, feel free to change in the bathroom over there if you don’t have to time to go home.” She instructs, waving as she walks over to the door.
You finish setting up after a few hours, quickly rushing into the bathroom and changing into the sleek y/f/c dress you’d brought with you, knowing full well you didn’t have time to get back to the hotel and change.
You fix up your hair and apply a layer of lip gloss before walking out, shoving your makeup bag, clothes and anything else you’d brought into your bag and discreetly placing it in the coat room along with everyone else’s things.
Walking out into the ballroom, you find all the girls and their escorts on the stairs. Quickly, you fix them into the order of their names being called and Jenny rushes around you to help Serena with her statement.
“Hey beautiful. What’s wrong?” You hear Carter say as Serena frowns down at the paper in her hands. You feel another twinge of hurt at the name.
“Serena, either fix your statement or live with it but I have to get it back to the announcer so please hurry.” You mutter, rushing past to fix all the others order and such.
You quickly go down the lineup, fixing the ties of the escorts too lazy to do it themselves, cursing yourself for getting involved in the event in the first place.
As you work you way through them, you fill with dread as you reach Carter.
“Need any help?” You hiss icily, glaring at his blue eyes.
“Please?” He asks cockily, grinning a little as you stand on your tiptoes to fix his tie.
“You know y/n, I’d much rather be escorting you, no matter how beautiful Serena may be.” He murmurs, gazing into your own eyes.
You bite your lip to keep from shouting at him, quickly untieing the knot he’d made and delicately redoing it to a satisfactory level.
“Should’ve thought of that before I was dead to you.” You whisper before moving on down the rest of the line.
You can’t help but feel his eyes watch your every move as you lean close to several of the helpless boys to fix their messy tie jobs.
Finally you finish and walk over to stand with Jenny, watching the cotillion.
It goes perfectly until they arrive at Serena’s statement. You cover your face with your hands in horror the more the announcer reads, cringing at the thought of Ceces reaction.
You knew the minute it was read that it was Carters doing and you felt yourself fill with rage once again.
You stand to the side with your arms folded in frustration while you watch the debutantes dance around the ballroom contently.
Once the dancing had begun, everything was back to its initial perfection and you felt yourself not only mentally but also physically relax, letting your shoulders release the tension you’d hardly noticed until then.
Suddenly, a boy you’d never seen before comes up to you, offering a hand and asking you to dance with him.
Not wanting to be rude, you nod, taking his hand in yours and walking over to the dance floor.
He places a hand on your waist, a little too close to your ass for your comfort but you ignore it, not fully caring as you get into the proper position for yourself.
But before you can even start moving, you notice Carter coming towards you from the corner of your eye, looking like an angry and jealous version of himself.
Before you have the chance to stop him or even register what’s happening, Nate stops him dead in his tracks and punches him in the face. The two start fighting to the ground before you pull yourself together, walking over and helping one of the other poor organizers pull them apart from each other.
“What the hell was that?” You growl at Nate.
“He was making a move on Blair.” He mutters back, fighting against your already weak grip.
You heave a sigh, smacking his arm.
“You’re an idiot! He has no interest in Blair. That I am sure of.” You exclaim, trying to drag him away from the party to prevent even more of a scene than he already made.
Ignoring everything else going on around you, you get one of the other escorts to help you drag him up to the entrance.
You run a hand through your hair and leave him there without another word, on your way back up the stairs when you see Serena taking care of Carter in the hallway. You stop where you are, hiding behind a wall.
Listening in, you feel a bunch of twinges of hurt when you hear him tell her that it hurt when she left him alone.
Wiping away a tear and taking a deep breath, you walk over, hands on your hips.
“Serena, you can get back to the party if you’d like. I can handle this.” You suggest, barely looking over at Carter.
“Oh... uh, ok. Sure. Sorry again.” She says to Carter before walking quickly away, her heels clicking on the floor.
“So...” Carter says, holding the ice to his eye.
“I knew someday you’d get socked in the face, I just figured me or my brother would be the one to do it.” You joke, sitting down next to him and grabbing the ice, gently dabbing it on his eye yourself.
“And I would’ve deserved it.” He admits, a ghost of a smile on his face.
You laugh a little, looking down at your lap. “Yes you would have.” You agree, feeling very reminiscent of the moments you’d spent together.
“I missed that laugh.” He says with a slightly bigger smile.
You roll your eyes. “Always the charmer, huh Baizen?” You tease, a soft smile on your lips.
“I suppose so, though, I never seem to charm the girls I really want.” He shrugs.
“Carter... those things you said... they- they hurt. They hurt a lot.” You start, tears in your eyes.
He looks away, a frown on his face.
“Yeah... I realized that after I said them. I regretted everything after I said it. I don’t know what made me decide to.” He sighs, running his hands through his hair.
“You were a total asshole. I’m still kind of glad Nate punched you.” You murmur with a small smile.
He chuckles a little. “Yeah I was. I hope you don’t think I still am.” He says sort of sheepishly.
You laugh a bit, a hand on his shoulder.
“What?” He asks, his eyebrows furrowed.
“Just remembering Nate socking you in the face.” You continue giggling, a smile taking over his face as you do.
“It isn’t that funny! But I’m glad you think so.” He chuckles.
Meeting his eyes again, you can’t help but let the memories of everything good between you come flooding back. Soon, you can hardly contain yourself, smashing your lips right onto his own in a moment of heat and desperation.
He returns the gesture, kissing you passionately, his hands trailing down your spine and leaving shivers in their place.
As you both pull away breathlessly, your eyes meet again and a glimmer of mischief appears in his.
“Guess that means I’m forgiven?” He asks hopefully, a grin spreading.
You giggle a bit, picking the ice pack back up and resting it back over his eye. “We’ll see about that Baizen.” You tease, but you both know you’re too enthralled with him to ever stay completely mad.

Much love always ❤❤❤
Warnings: Sweet soft fluff
Tumblr media
Carter turns on the bathroom light, taking the high heels that dangle from your fingers and placing them by the door. He turns on the bath, testing the water before adding your favorite bath bubbles. In comfortable silence he removes the bobby pins from your hair, combing his hands through the silky strands as they fall around your shoulders.
“You look absolutely stunning tonight.” His lips meet your bare skin in a soft kiss. Slowly unzipping your dress, he lets the silky fabric pool on the floor, helping you step out of it. “Although, it’s hard to say I don’t prefer this.” All of his movements are languid as he takes off your lace underwear, kissing his way all the way back up your legs.
When you’re completely naked you turn to him and start undoing his tie, nimbly undoing each button of his shirt after and pulling it off his shoulders. You make quick work of his belt and get his pants and boxer briefs off but not before smoothing your hands over his chest and abs. “Shall we?”
He takes your hand in his and helps you into the tub, gently getting in and settling behind you. The water is warm and soothing, Carter holding you tight to his chest. He takes some water and wets your hair, gently massaging some shampoo into your scalp. “Mmmmm, that feels so good, Carter, thank you baby.”
Without a word he continues washing your hair, taking his time before carefully rinsing it out and adding some conditioner. You lay your head against his chest and close your eyes, letting his hands wander over your body with the soap. “This is my favorite way to spend our time.” His sweet words cause you to open your eyes and shift your gaze to his. “Me too.”
Carter kisses you sweetly and you turn yourself around in his arms to sit in his lap. “My turn.” Running your fingers through his short hair you wet it and get some shampoo, lathering it up and rubbing it along his scalp. He moans under the pressure of your fingers and you love how vulnerable he is in these moments, just the Carter you love, free of it all.

Tumblr media
To say that the summer of 2020 had been a whirlwind would be an understatement. From your father’s sudden hospitalization that prompted your return to the Upper East Side, to your reunion with Carter Baizen and his unfortunate accident that led to your daughter’s arrival in New York City, to your rushed wedding… things had happened so fast that they seemed too good to be true.
A perfectly happy ending that you did not think you deserved until you were reminded that not everyone was perfect. Your parents weren’t perfect in the way they had raised you, Gregory and Lydia weren’t perfect in the way that they had raised Carter, and you and Carter weren’t any different. The two of you had never been perfect. But you had made your worst mistakes, learned your hardest lessons and now you would move forward with your lives and try to be the best parents you could possibly be to your daughter.
“Alright, she said she needs a few more minutes to get ready.” Annalise announced as she exited your daughter’s bedroom and jogged down the stairs. “How are you two feeling?”
As you stood at the bottom of the stairs with your arms crossed against your chest, you shook your head. “Annalise, I’m fine… I’ve seen her in school uniform before.” You reminded her with a sigh, turning over to look at your husband who looked as though he was holding back his tears even before your daughter had even walked out wearing her new uniform.
“But you haven’t seen her in Constance uniform.”
“I’m starting to think that the three of you are making way too big a deal about this.” You shook your head. “Constance is not a big deal, you know? She got in because she had good grades, there was no surprise there. She’s going there because she earned her place there and we’re not treating her any differently because she got in.” After all, humility was the one thing you wanted to teach your daughter even before she had arrived in the Upper East Side. “It’s just a plaid skirt and a white button-up blouse, for crying out loud.”
“Our daughter going off to Constance is a big deal, Y/N.” Carter pointed out as he rested his head against your shoulder. “It’s not about the uniform. It’s about the legacy. You went to Constance, my sister went to Constance, our parents and grandparents went to Constance. It’s about the legacy that Carter’s about to uphold. You know how this works. Going to Constance means that she’s now officially a part of the Upper East Side and… she’s inevitably a part of our legacy here.”
You nudged him away before rolling your eyes. “Come on, Carter. We’ve been saying that all summer. Yes, she is our legacy but… she doesn’t have to feel the pressures of it. That kind of pressure at that age doesn’t do anyone any good and you and I know better than anyone else… what the kind of pressure does to you when you’re young..”
“Are you saying that you don’t want her going to Constance then?” He asked as he looked over at you, biting down on his bottom lip as he realized that you must have had your own anxieties when it came to letting your daughter run loose in the Upper East Side. As any mother should, especially when you had been through what you had been through when you had been a teenager yourself. Raising a teenage daughter in this hell hole was not going to be a walk in the park. “Y/N, talk to me…”
“Carter, you know that’s not what I mean…” You shook your head before wrapping your arms around him. “I have no problem with her going to Constance. It’s just that… her world is about to change so drastically once she starts school here. The rich kids in London are not the same as the rich kids in New York, you know? I don’t want her to go into a culture shock when she realizes how wild the kids at Constance and St. Jude’s really are. I know how she is and I trust her. But I can’t say the same about the kids who… weren’t raised the same way I raised her. You know, I’ve done a lot of stupid shit because of peer pressure and I don’t want that for her.”
Pulling you into a tight hug, he nodded understandingly. “Hey… I know what you mean. You worry about her because you’re a good mother. But she’s just a kid, Y/N. She is going to be exposed to the things that we were exposed to when we were kids. She’s going to make mistakes and we’re going to let her figure out the kind of person she wants to be. But you need to understand that she’s not going to make the same mistakes we made, because we’re here for her. We’re going to be here for her for as long as she needs us to. You raised her well, Y/N. Perhaps you should trust your good parenting like I do.”
You chuckled softly at his last words before you pulled back from his embrace. “I never would have thought that Carter Baizen would be such a good father. But you seem to be doing much better at this parenting game than I am…” You admitted, leaning over to peck his lips. “I’m glad you’re a part of her life, Carter. She needed her father.”
“Getting to be a dad was the best thing that happened to me, Y/N.” He admitted. “Us being a family, living right here in the Upper East Side of Manhattan where we grew up, our daughter going off to Constance… all of this feels right, like this is where we’ve always belonged, no matter how far we run away. This is home, this is us… and this was always how it was supposed to be.”
You could not help but agree with that. This was always how things were supposed to be. You and Carter are married, your family businesses merged and your children attending Constance and St. Jude’s. “Think you can give her a ride to school on your way to the office?” You asked your husband, smiling in contentment.
Carter nodded. “I can do that.” He replied, raising his eyebrow at you. “Why, babe? Are you not coming into the office today?”
You shook your head. “I have to tie up some loose ends with the firm back in London.” You replied, shrugging. “I’ve still got a bit of lawyering to do for the day.”
“Lawyering… right.” He rolled his eyes. “Oh and before I forget, you still owe me a date, remember?”
You raised your eyebrow at his words. “Do I? I mean, forgive me for going against our deal, Mr. Baizen. But if I remember correctly, you clearly said to me that me going on a date with you would mean that you would back out from the offer to merge our companies. Now that the merger’s well under way, I guess that pretty much means that I no longer owe you a date, right?”
He shook his head at your words before laughing softly. “You really are a good lawyer, aren’t you?”
“I can’t believe it took you this long to realize that.”
Tumblr media
As Carter Eleanor Lydia Baizen stood in front of the floor length mirror in her walk-in closet, she could not help but admire how she looked exactly like the younger version of her mother - just as everybody had been telling her ever since she arrived in New York. She had heard from her grandparents and Annalise that she was Y/N with Carter’s eyes, and as she looked at her reflection now, she started to see it too. She really was the best of her parents.
Growing up without a father was not an easy thing for any young child. But knowing who her father was and still not being able to see him had been the hardest. When she had first asked you about her father, she had only been taken over by her own curiosity. She simply just wanted some answers to the unanswered questions about her life. But she had felt comfortable enough to ask you about him because you had raised her to be open and trusting with you. She had seen you as her closest friend rather than a mother, thanks to you being a young mother.
You did not feel the need to hide the truth about Carter because you knew she needed to know at some point. Telling her that her father’s name was Carter Baizen and that he had been her best friend in the Upper East Side of New York City seemed to be more than enough. You hadn’t told her of the past that you had shared with him. You hadn’t told her about the mistakes you had made. The partying, the underage drinking, the drugs and the truly opulent wealth… you had kept it from her for the sake of protecting from the harsh reality of the Upper East Side.
Perhaps that was why she was extremely nervous about starting at a new school in a new city. Having attended boarding school back in London, Carter Eleanor never had a problem making new friends. As no one really knew who she was, she had found it much easier to get along with people. But in a world where everyone knew her parents, she felt that she had quite the reputation to live up to. Boy, if she only knew…
As she made her way down to see you and Carter standing at the bottom of the stairs, she could not help but smile nervously. “How do I look?” She asked, fixing the collar of her shirt as she swung her Birkin bag over her shoulder - a back to school present from her doting aunt.
“Like a true Upper East Side ‘It Girl’.” You replied with a grin, making your husband look over at you in disbelief. “What? It’s true.”
“You look like a princess, baby girl.” He agreed, his eyes glazing over at the sight of her in her uniform. He had hoped to keep his tears to himself, but failed miserably at the sight of how much she resembled your younger self. “Like my princess.”
“Thanks, dad.” She smiled, pulling him into a tight hug.
You watched in awe as the two of them hugged, a part of you regretting having kept your daughter away from her father for as long as you had. But you knew that bringing her back to Manhattan had been the right thing to do. She seemed a lot happier here than she was back in London, making the most out of being in her father’s presence, having weekly shopping trips to Fifth Avenue with her Aunt Caroline and taking up an internship at the New York Spectator for the next summer at her Uncle Nate’s insistence. She really did belong in New York.
With your Carters leaving for the house for the day, you found yourself crouching down to the tiled floor of your bathroom and emptying the contents of your breakfast into the toilet. At first you had assumed that it must have been indigestion. But you weren’t a complete idiot. You had been tracking your cycle ever since you had gotten rid of your IUD and you hadn’t missed your period once… not until now.
Annalise Rosetti was a very observant and well-prepared woman, so she had bought you a handful of pregnancy tests the moment she learned that you had gotten your IUD removed. The thought that you were considered having more children, that too with Carter of all people, had been delightful to the woman who had been there during every step of your relationship with him.
When she heard you gagging in your bathroom, she had rushed to your aide. “Miss. Y/N?”
“Call Carter.” You told her as you flushed the toilet and gargled your mouth, splashing some cold water on your face as your eyes glazed over. “Tell him to cancel his meetings and come home right now. I need him here.”
As you looked up at your reflection in the bathroom mirror, you could not help but feel the sense of deja vu that was lingering around your bathroom. In this same bathroom fifteen years ago, you had taken a pregnancy test that had come out positive. Feeling lost and confused at the age of seventeen, fearing that Carter might end your relationship if he ever found out, you had discarded the test and boarded your family’s private jet to Santorini.
Had you told Carter the truth that night, your life would have turned out to be so different now. Perhaps this time around, you could do things right. Have Carter be a part of this pregnancy every step of the way. If you were going to take the test now, then you knew that you needed your husband right there with you. Keeping your pregnancy from him once had cost you fifteen years, and you were not going to make that mistake once again.
Tumblr media
When Carter Baizen had gotten that panic-stricken phone call from Annalise that morning, he had certainly gotten worried - his first thought had been that he had seen you that morning and you seemed fine when you sent him off to work. The woman hadn’t disclosed the reason why you needed him home so soon, but he wasn’t going to question it either. If you needed him home, then he would just drop everything he was doing at the office and drive back home.
Worried as he arrived at the penthouse, he had rushed over to your bedroom the moment he stepped out of the elevator. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst, he had found you crouched down by the toilet. “Y/N?” He called out to you, the concern clearly evident in his voice. “Babe, are you okay?”
You looked up at him, the tears streaming down your face as you tried to fight the nausea. “Carter… I-I don’t feel too good.” You told him, holding your hand out.
Carter was quick to crouch down beside you, pulling your hair out of your face and rubbing your back. “Are you alright? Do you want me to call for the doctor?”
You shook your head as you grabbed onto his arm, finally getting off of the floor and walking towards the sink. “Carter…” You wiped away your tears and turned on the water, gargling your mouth. “I’ll be fine…”
“Y/N? What’s going on?” He frowned at the sight of you, but hugged you from behind as he worried. “Babe, talk to me.”
“I think I’m pregnant.” You replied, looking up at him. “I’ve been tracking my cycle since I got my IUD removed and… I haven’t had my period. Annalise thought that I should take a test, but I just… I wanted you here.” Turning around to face him, you sniffled. “I wanted you to be a part of this pregnancy, every step of the way.”
A smile crept upon his lips as he heard your words, a sigh of relief escaping her lips as he tightened his grip around you and rested his chin against your shoulder. “Oh darling…” His hands gently caressed your belly as he looked over at your reflection in the mirror.
The mere thought that you wanted him to be a part of every single step in this pregnancy made Carter realize that he had finally redeemed himself in front of your eyes. From being the man whom you had loathed the most in this world to being the love of your life as he was always meant to be, he knew that you had always been the one who would get him out of his guilt. He was not proud of who he used to be back then, and he had always believed that being stripped of knowing his firstborn had been the price he had to pay for being so awful. But now, knowing that he would get to spend the rest of his life as your husband and the father of your children, knowing that it was what you wanted, none of the riches of the Upper East Side could ever hold up to that.
“I couldn't do it without you.”
He knew exactly what you meant by that, which was probably why he found himself tearing up. His own mistakes had been the reason why you had walked away from him, and the pain you must have felt when you had to do everything on your own, he could never imagine how you could have done it. He may not have had the privilege to be there back then, but he knew that he had to be here now.
“You don’t have to.” Carter had assured you. “I’m not going anywhere and I’m not letting you do anything stupid, you hear me? We’re doing this and we’re doing it together, just like we always used to do things since we were kids.”
Tumblr media
“Carter Baizen?! You're named after a legend!”
“Carter Baizen and Y/N Y/L/N set the standards for being the ‘it couple’ around here!”
“None of us could ever live up to Y/N Y/L/N!”
“You’re the secret love child of Y/N and Carter Baizen?”
Not that Carter Eleanor had ever expected to find out about her parents’ udying reputation during her first day at Constance Billard School for Girls or anything. Her existence in itself was a reminder that her parents had been quite wild during their teenage years. But the extent of their influence in that school that seemed to have lasted more than fifteen years seemed just as commendable as it was a concern to that poor unexpecting child.
Before she even set foot into her homeroom class, Headmistress Queller had made it known that her parents had been some of the worst behaved pupils she’d had during her career - here’s to hoping that she won’t live up to that legacy. Not the best start to the next four years, your daughter had thought, at least until she arrived at homeroom.
Hearing her name being called during the attendance call had only sparked the interest of her classmates. Carter had never been ashamed to be named after her father. After all, it made her feel as though the man had always been a part of her life despite not actually being there until very recently. God, she wished someone would have told her that Carter Baizen was a legend - she’d had no clue until it was lunchtime, and she’d had a mob of upper year students from both Constance and St. Jude’s crowding around her table saying things about the so-called legend that she was apparently named after.
“Uh… not really a secret since I’m here right now and not really a love child anymore now that they’re married?” She pointed out with a shrug of her shoulders, making a mental note to sit her parents down for a good scolding when she got home that night. “I’m kind of… very legitimate here, folks.”
“You know, your dad invented the Lost Weekend, right?” One of the St. Jude’s boys who had introduced himself as Christian Shepherd mused. “He’s like a total legend around here.”
Not that she had been paying attention to anyone else’s names, but she thought that one was cute. “The Lost Weekend?” She raised her eyebrow slightly, curious about her father’s reputation at his high school.
“It’s kind of like a tradition around St. Jude’s. The juniors get together for a weekend and we stay away from the outside world. We drink, we party, we have fun.” He explained, his lips curling into a smirk. “No girls allowed though.”
“Not that I’d ever want to be a part of something like that…” She shook her head. “No offense to those of you who want to be going to that party. But fifteen years from now, it’ll all seem pointless. Believe me, I would know.”
“I’ll be hosting this year’s Lost Weekend at my place. I’ll be providing the food, the drinks, the girls… and everyone practices what I preach during those forty eight hours.” He pointed out once again. “I’d hate to say it the way it is, beautiful. But your father would be so disappointed to know that you’re not keen on having his legacy live on.”
“Hm…” Perhaps it was the fact that she was Carter Baizen’s daughter, but she knew a wannabe bad boy when she saw one. “So, you think that throwing some stupid party and bribing your classmates with alcohol and hookers would be enough to make everyone practice what you preach?”
“What more could they ask for?” The boy asked, the smirk on his lips not even fading as he was being challenged by a freshman. He was only letting her speak because she was Carter Baizen’s daughter. “I do appreciate some suggestions for improvement though, if you had any. Surely, being the daughter of Carter Baizen means that you could enlighten me on what makes a good Lost Weekend.”
“Oh no, I want no part in that party of yours or what it means to the boys of St. Jude’s. But if you’re really naive enough to think that hosting this party is a rite of passage… then suit yourself. I’m not going to stop you.” She wanted to laugh at how stupid this all seemed. But she was a fourteen year old girl who could not stand to see some pointless party be her parents’ legacy - to her, they were more than two self-obsessed teenagers who constantly made mistakes. “I’d hate to say it the way it is, Shepherd, but you can’t really be talking out of your ass about keeping up with Carter Baizen’s legacy when you’re looking right at her.”
The air was so thick that one could cut it with a knife. But as the current bad boy of the Upper East Side stood there defeated by the new girl in town, one would not have been able to tell that this was just another saga in the making.
They always started with the good girl hating the bad boy.

The Spirit of Christmas Giving:
Tumblr media
Summary: Spending Christmas at Carter Baizen’s house.
Pairing: Carter Baizen x Reader
Warning: None, just fluff!
It was Christmas Eve, and the night was winding down to a close at the Baizen’s house. Over by the tree, you were all seated and smiling, you and Carter sitting close and comfortable on the couch by the open fire while Nate and Serena were cuddled into each other as they sat near the tree.
"Okay, alright, it's gift exchanging time. I've held onto my gifts long enough." Serena said, smiling enthusiastically as she held 4 bags in her hands, all of them rather large with smaller bags inside. "Who's first?" she then asked, looking around.
Carter lightly raised his hand and smiled lightly, going to get his gifts from under the tree. You smiled brightly as the group of you lightly clapped and cheered. You held a cup of spiked eggnog in your hand, sipping it as Carter started to speak.
"Alright guys, so the holidays finally came around, and it was kind of difficult to find gifts that you'd all like since all of our personalities are different, but I really hope you guys like your gifts. I love you all and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and please, show up to my New Years Party so we can all enter 2019 drunk off our asses and smiling like idiots." Carter said, chuckling as he raised his glass in Christmas cheer.
"To Christmas Giving!" Carter exclaimed, smiling as the rest of the group raised their glasses in cheer.
"To Christmas Giving." Serena and Nate said in unison with you, smiling and sipping their drinks. Carter smiled brightly and nodded, chuckling.
"Alright, alright, let's hand out these gifts now, shall we? Y/N, babe, I love you so much, and this is for you." Carter said, handing you a pretty good sized bag, with small bags within it. You smiled brightly and went up to Carter, kissing him lovingly.
"Thank you, Carter, I love you so much more. Merry Christmas babe," you said to him, happily exchanging gifts as you handed him his gift, which resided under the tree. You smiled brightly and started to quickly take out the gifts, trying to figure out what was in each bag.
"Hurry up, I wanna see the first gift!" Serena encouraged, smiling brightly as Carter nodded.
"Go ahead babe," he said, pulling you in. You smiled and opened up the first gift, which was a beautiful forever rose encased in a glass done, certification and authentication certificates within the glass dome. You smiled brightly and looked at Carter with wide eyes.
"Carter--it's--it's beautiful!" you exclaimed, kissing him lovingly and smiling brightly, staring at the rose. "Is it real?" you questioned.
Carter smiled and nodded.
"Real and hand-dipped, beautiful. I wanted to get you something that would last as long as my love for you would..." Carter said lovingly, looking at you with love in his eyes.
You smiled and kissed him lovingly once more, before setting the Forever Rose down gently on the coffee table in front of you, admiring it as you continued to open your other gifts. Continuing to open the next two gifts, you smiled at one small but long velvet box and another square shaped box, and looked at Serena, before looking down at the boxes again and opening them.
Upon opening them, the boxes revealed a $40,000 Cartier rose-gold necklace with diamond accent-stones encrusted on it, and two Angara Pear Morganite rings worth $3,000 each, encrusted with diamonds and rose-gold accents around them both. Your eyes went wide at the jewelry in front of you and you were speechless, looking at Carter and quickly trying the jewelry on, it all fitting perfectly and beautifully complimenting your skin tone.
You looked at Carter with a loss for words, but Carter simply nudged his head and encouraged you to continue opening the gifts. You nodded and blushed hard, smiling brightly and digging deep in the bag to find two cute sweaters which were soft and warm, along with a beautiful Christmas ornament engraved with his name and your own.
You gently shook the bag and heard a jingling attached to a card, and furrowed your brows, grabbing the card and flipping it over, finding a pair of brass keys attached to the card. You stared down at the card and then looked at Carter.
"Babe...babe, what is this?..." you mumbled, caught in shock. Serena’s eyes went wide and she held Nate’s hand, staring at the keys. Carter smiled and took your hand and kissed it.
"Y/N, I love you so much. And I want you to know that...that's a key to my summer house. I want to take you there someday and spend a summer with you, and only you, if you'll let me." Carter said softly, smiling at you with his light blue eyes.
You smiled and nodded happily, kissing his lips deeply.
"Yes, yes, I'd love to go with you, of course, I would!" you exclaimed, smiling brightly and laughing in content. Carter smiled brightly and nodded, kissing your hands in joy. You smiled and admired all your gifts, feeling truly loved for the Christmas season.
Nate and Serena smiled, Nate patting Carter on the shoulder.
"Nice going man. Proud of you," Nate said, handing Carter his gifts. "Now it's your turn! Open up." Nate encouraged, gripping Carter happily by the shoulders and gently shaking him.
Carter smiled brightly and nodded, taking his gifts as Serena quickly got up to join you, wanting to admire your jewelry as well.
"Carter, they're so beautiful!" Serena said, nodding and smiling as Carter pulled out his first gift.
"Whoa, beautiful, what is this? It's huge!" Carter said with a bright smile, laughing and sitting down beside you to open up his gifts. As he pulled out the first gift, it was large and heavily wrapped.
"Unwrap, unwrap!" you said happily, excited for your gift to Carter and hoping he would greatly appreciate it. As Carter unwrapped his gift, he laughed out loud in pure happiness and excitement.
"No way!! Is this--is this for real babe?!" Carter exclaimed, unwrapping a Korg Pa300 61-Key Professional Arranger keyboard, mount and even some music sheets on hand.
"Babe, oh my god! I love it--I love you!!! This is amazing--how much was this?!" Carter exclaimed, clearly excited.
You blushed and shook your head.
"It doesn't matter, as long as you love it," you said, smiling.
You had saved up a lot for it, but you weren’t going to tell him that.
Carter laughed and nodded, playing a little song before excitedly putting down the key arranger and digging back into his other gifts.
"That was--that was the best gift I've ever gotten--Is this jewelry, no fucking way," Carter said, opening the leather box to reveal two solid black rings, which Carter was quick to put on.
You smiled and laughed, Carter, pulling you in and kissing you lovingly.
"I love the gifts and I love you, thank you so much, Y/N!" Carter said, picking up the sleek new keyboard and excited to use it. You smiled and kissed him back before he pulled away, holding your Forever Rose in your lap and staring at it in awe and beauty, looking around at the family you gained in your friends, and the soulmate you'd found in your boyfriend, Carter."I'm lucky to have you, Y/N." Carter then said, holding you close as he lightly pressed keys on his arranger. You smiled and leaned against him, holding his hand. "I love you more, Carter Baizen. I love you more," you said, sipping your eggnog and listening as the convivial conversation continued amongst you and your friends under the warm holiday cheer.

Manhattan
A/N: Hey ya’ll I just got back from vacation so I wanted to post a little something! I know this is poorly written, I’m still trying to get a hold of the whole plot thing yknow. I’m still new at this after all haha. Anyways I only watched a few episodes of gossip girl so idrk anything about carter or if he actually has any sisters but yeah enjoy!
Pairing: Carter Baizen x Reader
Warnings: None! :))
Word Count: 2700+
Tumblr media
City life. You lived and breathed city life. You were a part of something big and significant. Manhattan is what you’ve called home since you started school, your parents decided that going to an elite boarding school would be better than going to a good school district in the suburbs of Boston. However, being part of the elite was difficult at times, you always had to be your best self otherwise someone would push you down. You found your calling in the sports department, girls soccer to be more specific. Your school had a reputation to keep after winning tournament after tournament.
However that was then, and this is now. You had just recently graduated from NYU since you wanted to stay in the city. You just secured an apartment in the city, a costly one nonetheless, but your parents, who just wanted to buy your happiness and love, were more than willing to help out. You start your job as a lawyer for one of the top law firms in the city in a month, and your best friend in the whole world, Elle, was starting as an assistant to some photographer who works with famous models. Safe to say that you two were killing it for girls who were fresh out of law school and college.
After a week of living there, you finally met your neighbor, the only other person who lived on the top floor with you. He seemed slightly sketchy, and from what you’ve heard from the nice lady downstairs, is no good. He came from lots of money, like yourself and Penelope, and attended a nearby elite school a while back but never really finished with college or anything. The nice lady, Lisa, warned you and Elle about the boy, he was known to be a heartbreaker. He was just a year or so older than you as well. Anyways, as stated earlier, you met him after a week. Carter Baizen. You were just coming up from your morning run and the elevator doors opened to reveal a handsome stranger. You gasped but quickly recovered.
“Um sorry, you must be my neighbor, I’m Y/N.” You said sticking your hand out for him to shake.
“Ah... I’m Carter, welcome to Manhattan,” He replied shaking my hand. I mentally scoffed.
“This is actually close to my twentieth year living here, but thanks!” You said before scurrying off, not wanting him to catch a whiff of your sweat.  You slammed the door only to be greeted by loud music.
“Elle!” You called, knowing she was probably in the kitchen because she absolutely adores baking, making it difficult to stay in shape.
“Y/N! Thank goodness you’re home! Our mysterious neighbor dropped by a minute ago and brought some cookies that he said his mom made but he doesn’t like!” She said rounding the corner to greet you.
“I just had a run in with him, I kinda left in a hurry though...” You trailed off grabbing your water bottle and scurrying toward the shower.
You hummed along to the music you had playing when you heard a knock on the door.
“What!?” You yelled out over the sound if running water
“Our neighbor is back! He said he was here to talk to you!” Elle’s voice sounded throughout the bathroom.
“Oh shit, I’ll be right out!” You respond shutting off the water and running to your room. You threw clothes on brushed your hair and almost as fast as you’d exited the showed, you exited your room. You awkwardly stumbled over your own feet into the TV room.
“Hey, sorry I was in the shower... Did I drop something?” You asked when you noticed him on the couch, most likely seeing the scene that happened a mere second ago.
“Oh... Uh, no but I just wanted to apologize...” He sighed running his hands up and down his thighs.
“Apologize? Why?” You asked quirking your eyebrow.
“Well I just assumed I knew everyone in Manhattan that was around my age, I was surprised to see someone so beautiful who I didn’t know,” He smirked, finally gaining that confidence.
“Oh well first, thank you. Second, No worries! I appreciate you saying that though!” You gushed, probably a little bit too enthusiastically.
“I always wanted to stay sorry for not stopping by sooner, I figured that whoever moved in would be a stuck up couple with lots of money, not a pretty girl such as yourself and her best friend,” he winked making my cheeks flare up.
“Oh please,” You giggled, deep in your head you could hear Lisa’s voice warning you, “I do here you don’t have the best reputation, so sorry if I’m not letting you jump in my pants right away,”
“Ah so Lisa has been warning all of the lovely ladies,” He tutted.
“So there are others,” You questioned
“There was... But now there’s only you.” He replied leaning in every so slightly.
“I don’t buy that act yet, Carter,” You scolded standing up.
“Maybe one day, babe,” he cooed walking through the hallway back toward the door.
“See you later, Elle!” He called out before opening and closing the door behind him.
I collapsed into a stool we had by the island of our kitchen, sighing and grabbing one of the cookies he had left earlier.
“What was that about?” Elle asked leaning against the counter.
“He apologized for something he said when we crossed paths earlier,” You mumbled, covering my mouth.
“That’s it?” She pushed, knowing fully well that I was leaving something out.
“Ok he kinda hit on me, but we both heard Lisa, he’s bad news!” You sighed
“So? Beat him at his own game!” She exclaimed
“Yeah? And how do you propose I would do that.” You asked
“Start bringing guys home more! Go out! Make him jealous! Harmlessly flirt with him instead of clamming up like you always do!” She suggested shrugging.
“That doesn’t sound too bad honestly, I’m going through a long dry spell right now after all,” You joked’
__________
That was six months ago. You ran into Carter a few times a week, exchanging a few words but never having a legitimate conversation. You have brought home way too many guys to count anymore, but you stopped, probably two weeks ago. You aren’t necessarily proud of it, but it was a good release from all of the stress at work, which you started a while ago. You feel like an independent woman, which is a great feeling.
You clumsily walk through the apartment to your room. You groan when someone turns on the light, adding to the already terrible headache you had.
“Oh my god sorry!” Nate, Elle’s boyfriend of three months, exclaimed shutting the light off again, “Elle and I thought someone broke in! She sent me to go check.”
“Oh sorry, just trying to get back to my room alive,” I joked a bit, rubbing my temple. He left me alone once again. Nate was a nice guy, he was very focused on work until he met Elle, they fit perfectly together. He cares so much about her. It’s almost sickening watching the two of them.
You blew your nose which must have been the fifteenth time that morning, finally deciding that work didn’t sound like a great option right now. You climbed back in bed calling your boss to let them know, which she immediately said ok after just hearing your voice. You stared blankly at the ceiling before choosing to get out up and try to eat some toast. You needed to have something in your stomach. When you left the comfort of your room you were greeted with silence. Nate and Elle must have gone out.
While you waited for your toast you scrolled through mindless social media until you heard the door open. You paid no attention to it, figuring the happy couple returned until you heard a voice. An all too familiar voice.
“Well hello there,”
“Jesus, don’t scare me like that,” You said as a leaned down to grab my phone that I dropped due to being startled.
“Sorry, Manhattan, I thought you knew Elle sent me,” He chuckled
“Manhattan? And no, no she didn’t,” You said as you moved closer to him and pulled yourself up on the counter to sit.
“Yes, Manhattan, because you’re the only person who’s from here who I didn’t know, and she knocked on my door saying that you were sick and asked me to check in on you,” He answered
“Hmm… Manhattan, I dig it,” You shrugged
“Anyways, Manhattan, What ever could I do to help you?” He asked in a mocking tone, bowing slightly.
“Wow what I gentlemen!” You gushed teasingly, “You can go back to your apartment if you want, I’m just going to watch tv probably,”
“I’ll join you if you don’t mind, can’t leave a lady in distress alone,” He joked
“Whatever tickles your fancy,” You sighed and slowly moved to the couch in the TV room.
The two of you sat watching TV for probably three hours before he broke the silence.
“So, what have you been up to, your nightly visitors haven’t been around as much,”
“What do ya mean?” You asked, not remembering people stopping by.
“Y’know, the men you bring home after a night out,” He trailed off
“Oh, yeah right, those visitors…”
“Yeah, those visitors, didn’t think you were that type of girl,”
“I can if I want to be,” You scoffed
“You mean you can go from shy and polite, to a slut and a brat?” He asked, “The last time you saw me you nodded your head at me and kept sucking face with some manwhore!”
“Manwhore, ha, you want to talk about manwhores?!” You yelled standing up, “Also a slut!? So what are those girls you bring home every night? Huh?”
“If you paid attention at all, you would’ve noticed that I stopped bringing home girls right after I talked to you that first time!” He yelled back, which made you pause for a moment, but only a moment, because that asshole called you a bitch.
“Get out.” You grumbled
“Excuse me? You're not going to respond to that? I changed myself for you!” He exclaimed, throwing his hands up.
“No, I don’t associate with people who call me degrading names!” You said pushing him toward the door.
“Please, Manhattan, don’t do this,” He begged, holding on to the door frame.
“I’m not doing anything, you did this,” I mumbled as I pried his fingers off the wall and slammed the door, locking it.
__________
About a month later and you hadn’t spoken a word to Carter, you avoided him like the plague. Maybe you were being childish, but your mother told you, the one time she decided to be a mother, that you should always respect yourself. Being with people who called you named to hurt you, wasn’t respecting yourself. You couldn’t help but notice how isolated Carter had become. He used to be a social person and incredibly well kept, but the last time you saw him he looked like hadn’t taken a shower in weeks. You couldn’t help but feel responsible. He may not have been the nicest to you, but that was once. You could give him another try. You hesitated as you stood in front of his door. You finally ended the mental battle with yourself and knocked on the door.
“Just a minute!” You heard, that voice wasn’t familiar, you thought. The door was whipped open, only to be greeted by a gorgeous woman.
“Hi, um, who are you?” The woman asked tilting her head
“Oh, uh, sorry… This isn’t my apartment,” You replied quickly, just getting ready to turn around. Why would you knock on the door of your own apartment?
“Manhattan?” You heard Carter’s voice, you looked at him for a brief second before turning on your heel and head back to your door.
You couldn’t believe you beat yourself up for so long, only for him to be lying! You felt like a complete and utter fool. You dragged yourself inside, only to look up and see Elle and Nate’s apologetic looks when you glanced up.
“Y/N, sweetie, what happened?” Elle whispered, rushing to your side to bring you over to the couch. You plopped down next to each other.
“He’s with someone, a girl,” You mumbled
“Who is?” Nate chimed in
“Carter, he has been flirting with Y/N nonstop, and then called her a bitch, and when she went to apologize he was with a girl,” Elle answered looking at you to make sure she got her story right, to which you weakly nodded.
“I thought he actually changed. I thought he actually meant it.” I sighed putting my head in my hands.
“You never know, maybe it’s a relative,” She said with a hint of hope, but you couldn’t take it and just shook your head. Elle rubbed circles on your back, exchanging glances with Nate.
When you returned from work you crossed paths with the mysterious lady again. You rushed into your apartment building when you saw that the elevator door was open.
__________
“Sorry about the other day, I was just a bit turned around,” You explained, trying to break the silence on your way up to your apartment.
“No you weren’t, nobody knocks their own door” She stated, “Carter told me who you were. You’re actually the reason I was there.”
“I was?” You questioned
“Yes, I’m his sister, he was trying to ask me what to do to apologize for calling you names. One thing you should know about my brother, he’s got a temper. A bad one, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. He’s got bad habits. Or had anyways, I’ve noticed that he’s significantly better now than he was six months ago.” She explained.
“Oh wow,” I trailed off, I didn’t really know what else to say.
“You’re a talkative one. Anyways, now I’m just dropping off this for him,” She motioned to the bag in her hand that looked like a present, “however, I do need to get back to my husband, would you mind giving this to him?”
“No, of course not!” You said and took the bag from her, stepping out of the elevator as she pushed the button to go back to the lobby.
You stood there for a moment debating whether or not you should just leave the bag in front of his door. But that probably wasn’t the best idea, and you needed to face him sooner or later, he was your neighbor after all.
“Manhattan?” Carter almost gasped, opening the door. He still looked incredibly tired, and his five o’clock shadow was nearly a beard.
“Um, hi Carter, I ran into your sister, she wanted me to give this to you,” You mumbled
“Wow, thank you, do you mind coming in for a second?” He asked stepping to the side, you shook your head and walked into his apartment, which was identical to yours, but with fewer decorations.
You stood awkwardly, waiting for him to say something, anything.
“So um, Manhattan, I wanted to apologize… I got caught up in what my sister explained as jealousy, which isn’t something I’m used to…”
“Actually, that day I was at your door I came to apologize to you, I felt bad for never talking to you after that day…” You trailed off
“I don’t blame you though, I blame myself. Anyways, I got this for you, as an apology, Y/N, I really want to get to know you. I’m not asking you to be my girlfriend, I just want you to be comfortable. I don’t want to push you into something you don’t want.” He finished handing me the bag you handed him seconds ago, the same one his sister gave you in the elevator.
You reached in the bag and felt a box, which you pulled out. You slowly took the cover off of the box to see a beautiful necklace that had the New York City skyline on it. You picked it up and felt something on the back. It was a date. You recognized the date too. The day you moved into your apartment.
“Carter… This is too much,” You whispered
“Nothing is ever too much for you, Manhattan. That day was one of the best days of my life and I didn't even know it. Just please, give me a chance and go on a date with me.” He asked hopefully
“Well, I’d be a dumb bitch not to,” I joked slightly nudging him with my shoulder.
This could be the start of something great for both of you.

King of Anything (1/2)
Prompt: Part 1 of 2 for @nataliarxmanxva ‘s season writing challenge! ‘Are you…wearing a suit? At the beach?’
Summary: You’ve avoided going to New York because you don’t want to run into your old best friend, Carter Baizen, but a supposedly relaxed day at the beach proves that you can’t run from your past.
Pairing: Carter Baizen x Reader
Word Count: 1297 words
Tumblr media
Notes: The next part will be uploaded in a few days, so if you want to be tagged in that, feel free to send me an ask! The next part, it will be basically all Carter. Nicole is based off @carriefish-er , one of my best friends and is the sweetest human being ever. I also haven’t watched Gossip Girl, so I’m going off wikipedia posts!
“Come on, Y/N! Hurry up, we have to get to the beach!” Nicole whines through the door, and you quickly grab your bag, calling back, “I’m coming!”
Ever since your best friend left the suburbs and moved to New York without telling you anything and never keeping in contact, you’ve avoided going to New York, any area of it. You didn’t want to run into him, because one, you would’ve beaten him up and two, considering how he left you, he would’ve changed, probably for the worse. But your best friend Nicole came to your apartment one night with two first class tickets to New York and a booking at a fancy hotel. Who knows how she got them, but you couldn’t pass up that opportunity, you’d be an idiot to.
“Damn, you’re looking good! Let me guess, you wanna pick up some guys on the sands? Ooh, what about a hot lifeguard?” She grins at you, and you snort, punching her arm.
“I’m not here to date, I’m here to just relax, even if it’s gonna be crowded.” You shrug, adjusting the straps of your lace romper.
“Well let’s go, we can find a free space if we get there early!”
You catch a taxi down to Rockaway Beach, and though you’re not ‘early,’ you and Nicole set up an umbrella in an empty area, setting out your things and laying back.
“You gonna go swimming later?” She asks lazily, pulling her shawl off and throwing it to one side. She’s already eyeing the restaurants on the shore, and you roll your eyes, chucking her a bottle of cold lemonade.
“Possibly, but I’m just gonna appreciate the sunshine for now.” You explain, tilting your sunglasses up.
Nicole raises an eyebrow, looking pointedly at the umbrella. You snort, whacking her with your hat. “I’ll appreciate the sunshine from a distance.”
Your friend shrugs, putting her shawl back on and lounging back.
“Then I’ll go swimming with you later. For now, tell me more about this friend of yours that moved here.” She props herself up on her elbow and you sigh, slumping your shoulders.
“His name’s Carter, Carter Baizen. Heard of him?” You tell her eventually, and her eyes widen.
“You mean that rich-ass socialite?” She gasps, and you nod gingerly.
“He was my best friend since Grade 5. He was kind, funny, never tried anything on me, just wanted to be my friend, even if I had a crush on him. But one day, in Year…10, he was really distant, and I didn’t think much of it, though I was there for him anyway. Then, the very next day, he left. He didn’t leave any explanation, he didn’t reply to any of my messages, and he never kept in contact. He still hasn’t kept in contact since, and I heard about him being a douche bag socialite and now I don’t want to run into him. He’d look down on me, y’know? As much as I want to speak to him again, I hate him for not saying anything.” You finish, sighing and running a hand through your hair.
Nicole rests her hand on your shoulder, squeezing it gently. “Damn, I didn’t know he used to be your friend. He sounds like a dick though, for leaving you like that.”
You give her a wry smile, taking a sip of lemonade. “I guess… it’s just, he was my best friend for six whole years. He got me through a lot of stuff.”
“Hey, I’m Carter!” A brown haired boy with sparkling blue eyes sits down next to you, shuffling his chair closer.
“I’m Y/N.” You smile shyly at him, and he gives you a broad grin back.
“Do you wanna work together for this project?” He asks, taking his school blazer off and slinging it over the back of the chair.
Your eyes widen in surprise, before stuttering out a ‘yes,’ because you weren’t expecting to make a friend on the first day of school.
“Great! Now, lemme borrow your laptop and show you….”
You stuffed your books into your locker, slumping against it and trying to blink back the tears, wrapping your arms around yourself.
“Y/N?” You look up to see Carter, his normally bright face looking worried.
“Hey Carr, what’s up?” You try to smile, but he puts his arms on either side of you, boxing you in and staring down at you. It’s hard not to blush when he’s looking at you like this, but the negative thoughts swirling your head are making you distracted.
“Cut the bullshit, Y/N, what happened?” He asks, his brows furrowed in concern.
You bite your lip, looking away. “You know Mia? She and her boyfriend were saying shit about me. To my face.” You mumble, and you can see Carter’s eyes blaze, dropping his arms and his fists clenching.
“I’m gonna fucking murder them, with my bare hands.” He growls, and before you can protest, he’s set off down the hallway, rolling up his shirt cuffs as he goes.
“What a dick, he doesn’t deserve you.” Carter has his arms around you, holding you as you sniffle on your bed. He’s rubbing soothing circles over your back, and thinking of numerous ways to wreck that asshole who dumped you.
“He t-told me that he was gonna date Rebecca now, and that he had already k-kissed her while we were dating.” You sob, curling up in your best friend’s lap. His breath hitches in his throat, and he holds you closer.
“God, Y/N… you’re way too good for that asshole.” He murmurs, and you take in a shuddering breath through your sobs.
You shake your head, fisting your hands in his t-shirt, knowing that he won’t mind. “But… he was the only one that would ever want to date me.” You mumble, tears falling fast.
“Y/N, no, don’t say that,” He tilts your chin up with his index finger, looking you in the eyes intently, “I promise, there’s somebody out there who will want to spend every single day with you, and who will love you for who you are.”
You let out a weak laugh, resting your head on his shoulder. “Thanks Carr, you’re the best friend ever.”
A flicker of disappointment flashes past his gaze when you say ‘friend’, but it’s gone in an instant and he’s giving you a warm smile, handing you another spoonful of ice cream.
“Y/N!” Nicole waves a hand in front of your face, and you startled out of your daydream.
“Sorry, I went off into wonderland. What is it?” You ask, blinking rapidly to bring yourself back to reality.
“Look at that guy over there! Is he…wearing a suit? At the fucking beach?” Nicole tries to contain her giggles, and your eyes drift to a tall man a few metres away from you. He’s next to his friends who are appropriately dressed in a slightly more casual fashion. He, himself, is dressed in suit pants and a shirt with rolled up sleeves, with his suit jacket thrown over his shoulder. The way he holds himself is achingly familiar, and on closer inspection, you notice that he’s extremely handsome, in a cocky rich kid sort of way. Hair that, despite looking tousled, is obviously groomed to look that way, and you can’t see all his facial features from your angle.
Curious, you stand up, moving around to take a better look. Your eyes widen, pinching yourself to try and stop your imagination from taking over. But nothing’s changing, and the face of the person in front of you isn’t changing either.
You take a deep breath, ignoring Nicole’s confused look at you.
“Carter?”
The man pauses his talking suddenly, and turns around, showing Carter Baizen’s face to you for the first time in years.

Just A Favor
Tumblr media
Pairing: Carter Baizen x Reader
Words: 1300+
Author’s note: I hope you guys enjoy another Carter fic. I’m slowly working on the ones I have gotten started. I’m hoping to get more inspiration for them. So, enjoy!
Warnings: Fluff and we know that Carter is a warning himself
You felt irritation run through your body as you heard Carter shouting on the phone. Of all of the places he chose to take a phone call, it had to be the area you come to. For a good couple of months, this place had been quiet before he started showing up. He knows he irritates you. He loves to play with you and you don’t know what on earth you did to gain the attention of Carter Baizen.
You were broken out of your thoughts when you noticed a shadow above your book. You sighed before looking up to see Carter sitting across from you with a smirk on his face. “What do you want, Baizen?” You said before turning back to your book.
“I need a favor.”
You let out a dry laugh. “What makes you think I would help you with a favor? Why don’t you ask one of the girls you fuck around with.”
He ran a hand through his hair. “No, I, come on, you’re my only option.”
You closed your book before crossing your arms. “For?”
“Family party. My parents are more or less demanding I have a date and well, I figured it would be better if I showed up with someone who I haven’t fucked around with yet.”
You hummed and nodded slightly. “Yeah, no.” You said as you grabbed your books and got up from the table. Carter immediately followed you as you walked away. “Y/n please. Would you do me this one favor? It’s only for one weekend.” He said as he stood in front of you and grabbed your arms.
You looked at his hands before looking at him. “What exactly is in it for me? I’m not exactly one of those girls who wants to be caught with Carter Baizen.”
“I won’t bother you anymore. You won’t see me anymore and live your life Baizen free.” You smirked slightly. He smiled. “You like the sound of that?”
“Well, obviously.” You looked away as you tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. “Fine. I’ll do it. Don’t make me regret this, Carter.”
He smiled. “Thank you so much. First things first, I’m taking you shopping.” He said as he looked you up and down.
You frowned. “What?”
“Well you can’t show up to a party with the wardrobe you have. So,” he took out his phone and handed it to you. You gave him a slightly confused look. He rolled his eyes. “Give me your number and we’ll plan a time to go out.” You hesitated before putting your number in. “Thank you. Expect a date to be set.” He said before walking away.
-
You sighed as you looked at the store in front of you. “I can’t afford this.” You said quietly.
Carter stuck his hands in his pockets before shrugging. “Who said you were buying? Come on.”
You stared at Carter for a few seconds before following. “W-what? I can’t have you do that. I can’t pay you back.”
“You don’t have to pay me back.” He said as he looked you up and down again. He then turned back and grabbed a few dresses. When you grabbed one of the price tags, your heart dropped. “Stop looking at them.” Carter said as he glanced at you. “Now go try these on.”
You groaned as you modeled another dress for Carter. He hummed before shaking his head. “Seriously? What’s wrong with this one?”
“Nothing. Just not feeling it.”
“Not feel- Jesus Christ.” You said before going to change into the next dress.
“I can’t believe this is taking so long.”
You looked at the door separating the two of you in shock. “You can’t- are you fucking kidding me? You’re the one who brought me here to get a dress.”
He chuckled. “Touché.”
You took a breath before walking out in a long black dress. “How about this one?”
Carter stared at you for a few minutes before nodding. “This one is great. You look great.” You blushed slightly before smiling. Carter took the dress from your hands once you finished changing. He glanced at you as you played with your purse. “Want to get something to eat?”
You looked at him. “What?”
“Do you want to get food?”
“Oh, sure. I could eat.” He took the bag before leading you to the food court. You looked at Carter as he was telling you about the party. The two of you ordered what you wanted before going and sitting down. You looked at Carter. “Are you sure you want me going?”
Carter sighed. “For the last time, yes.”
-
You looked at Ella through the mirror. She gave you a smile as she did your hair. “I can’t believe you get to go to a party with Carter Baizen.”
You rolled your eyes. “I'm just doing it as a favor. Besides, he promised to leave me alone if I did it, so it’s a win for me.” You looked down at your vanity. It had been a few weeks since the shopping trip. You hated to admit it but you had fun that day. Ever since then, you and Carter have continuously been talking.
“Oh no. I know that look. You’re thinking about him aren’t you?”
Your cheeks turned a slight shade of pink. “I- no. I’m just thinking about tonight is all.”
Ella laughed before shaking her head. “Whatever makes you sleep at night, hon.” She finished the last touch before stepping back. “Go and get changed.” You got up and changed into the dress. Ella smiled. “You look so beautiful.”
You smiled as you stared at yourself. You haven’t felt this beautiful since, well forever. You grabbed your phone when you heard it buzz. You grabbed your stuff before facing your friend. “He’s here.”
“Good luck!” She said as you walked out to the car.
Carter smiled when he saw you. “Wow, you look even prettier than at the store.”
Your cheeks turned pink before smiling. “Thank you.”
-
You held onto Carter’s arm as you looked around the room. Everyone was dressed up and either catching up or talking about business. That is currently what Carter was doing. One of his father’s friends had stopped him to talk. “I see you have a beautiful date tonight.”
Carter smiled. “Yes, this is y/n.”
“It’s a pleasure.” The man said before turning his attention to someone else. Carter’s smile quickly faded and brought you to a more secluded part of the room. You let out a breath.
“Thank you. That was-”
“Suffocating? I know, I’m sorry you had to go through that.”
You shrugged. “It’s what I signed up for right?”
He let out a chuckle. “You know, I have never had fun at these things. You are making it more bearable.” You smiled before grabbing his hand. He looked over at you. He glanced down at your lips before he was called away. You giggled when he rolled his eyes before putting on a fake smile. You frowned slightly when you realized that this was going to end after tonight, that if you gained any feelings for him, it would just cause pain.
Carter noticed the distant look in your eyes. He excused himself before making his way back over to you. He placed a hand on your shoulder. “Are you okay?”
You looked up at him with tears in your eyes. “When this is over, I don’t want us to go our separate ways. I- it has been one of the most real thing I have felt in my life. I don’t want it to end.” Carter placed his hands on your cheeks. He placed a kiss on your forehead.
“We won’t.” He mumbled against your forehead. “It’s been real for me too.” You smiled before placing your hands on his chest. He smiled as well before pulling you into a kiss. “How about we get out of here.” He whispered against your lips.
“I’d like that.” You whispered back.
