Carolyn Arends - 'At a Loss' song
Carolyn Arends is a well-known composer and singer of CCM. I have several of her albums.
About this song, she wrote, "At a Loss was written a few days after the death of Rich Mullins, but was never officially released ... until now. It is offered with love to anyone currently at a loss."
Lyrics are on the screen.

Above is the playlist of songs we listened to on today’s stream, featuring Carolyn Arends, Savage Garden (as requested by @zeonlykean), TLC, and Keith Urban!
After the stream…

As I posted earlier, this is a song I really love, from since back in my university days.

Book Review: A Light Has Dawned
Tumblr media
With every Christmas season, I get the sense that we lose so much to the passing of time. I love to see our best stories preserved and passed down. Published by Lexham Press, A Light Has Dawned presents the best of Christianity Today’s meditations on Advent and Christmas.
A Treasure Trove of Riches
After an introduction by Carolyn Arends, each article corresponds to one day, starting on November 27 and ending on January 6. They read like short chapters in a devotional book, and they feel like a proper anthology series all centered around the Christmas season.
The sheer variety of authors makes this book stand out. Tim Keller (December 24) and Elisabeth Elliot (December 25) get the Christmas dates, while Philip Yancey (December 31) and L. Nelson Bell (January 1) take the New Year. This book is a treasure trove of riches.
Timeless Themes
You would expect the authors to exhaust the cliches that come with Christmas think-pieces, but every article offers a fresh perspective and eye-opening insight. The truths are not trite. And while they were undoubtedly written at different times, their themes remain timeless.
There is a certain realism in this work. Joy is mixed with sorrow, despair is mingled with hope. The reality for many is that Christmas is sometimes a complicated season. This book captures the complex feelings of Christmas, but it never forgets that our God is good and faithful.
Wondrous Words
The authors featured are the best of the best. They are wondrous wordsmiths. No matter the disposition of their articles, they are a delight to read. This Christmas season, their words have softened my heart and opened my eyes to see the Word of God incarnate. I can see Christ more clearly. He is blazing, beautiful, and brilliant. A light has dawned, indeed.
I received a media copy of A Light Has Dawned and this is my honest review. Find more of my book reviews and follow Dive In, Dig Deep on Instagram - my account dedicated to Bibles and books to see the beauty of the Bible and the role of reading in the Christian life. HAPPY BOITDY, TEDDY GEISEL!
As all the Whumble Whos of Whoville celebrate the birth of pop culture phenomenon DR. SEUSS, we honor this auspicious occasion in the silliest way possible – with several animated gems featuring HIS BOBNESS, all taken from the legendary DYLAN HEARS A WHO album. Embedded above, you can view OH, THE THINKS YOU CAN THINK; THE CAT IN THE HAT; THE ZAX; and two distinctly different versions of GREEN EGGS & HAM.
In the links below, you will find animated editions of THE SNEETCHES; THE LORAX; THE BUTTER BATTLE BOOK; and the iconic BORIS KARLOFF edition of HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. There's also a colorized PRIVATE SNAFU cartoon from WW2; excerpts from the surreal 1953 musical, THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T;  a Seuss-based TV series produced by the JIM HENSON COMPANY; and a bonus track from the Dylan album. The fun begins with a Seuss tribute by CAROLYN ARENDS.

~Song of the Week~
Well one thing I've noticed wherever I wander Everyone's got a dream he can follow or squander You can do what you will with the days you are given I'm trying to spend mine on the business of living...
This week’s song of the week is a song of great encouragement. The song urges you to not let the naysayers hold you back from what you’re passionate about. Live your best life. Dress how you want to dress. Create what you want to create. Dream what you want to dream. In Christian circles, our elders would tell us that we had to live by very strict rules of what you could and couldn’t do for a living. Video games are nothing but a distraction. Your art is a waste of time. Be this instead. Be that instead. No, God gave us the gift to create. Each person has their own passion. Why give us passions if we can’t even pursue them? Carolyn’s song reminds us that God gave us our passions for a reason. Let’s pursue them. The world needs what you have to offer. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13~ 💙
