Actor Trevor Donovan chatted about his new western film “Where the Wind Blows.”
This story follows Chase (played by Trevor Donovan), a rugged cowboy and solitary drifter with a closed heart and a troubled past who discovers his purpose while protecting a family in danger.
“Where the Wind Blows” is based on the USA Today bestselling novel of the same name by author and western romantic writer Caroline Fyffe.
The screenplay is by Caroline Fyffe, John Schimke and Mike Maden.
John Schimke will direct the romantic western. The production is taking place in the scenic landscapes of Montana this summer.
Donovan on what drew him to this story
“I’m thrilled to take on the role of Chase in ‘Where the Wind Blows’,” Donovan admitted.
“The story is rich with emotion and adventure, reminiscent of classic John Wayne Westerns. It captures the spirit and ruggedness of the frontier while telling a heartfelt and engaging tale. I’m honored to be part of such a talented team,” he elaborated.
Donovan on playing Chase in the western movie
On portraying Chase, Donovan remarked, “Chase is a character with layers of complexity — a cowboy who is tough on the outside but has a heart full of past wounds.”
“Playing him allows me to dive into a story of redemption and protection, set against the beautiful and harsh backdrop of the frontier. It’s about embracing the resilience and courage that defined those times,” Donovan explained.
Message for his fans about the new film
For his dedicated fans, the “DonoFans,” he stated about this film, “I want fans to feel the raw emotion and adventure in Where the Wind Blows.”
“It’s a story that not only entertains but also celebrates the spirit of rugged individualism and resilience that defined the frontier days, reminding us of the strength and courage needed to face life’s challenges today,” he concluded.
This fall, Donovan is excited to be a part of the RomaDrama and Filmed in the South “Halloween & Harvest Festival,” which will take place in Olde Town Conyers in Georgia from October 31st to November 3rd.

Review of 'Moon Over Montana'
Review of ‘Moon Over Montana’
Charity McCutcheon went off to Texas, and got herself into a peck of trouble. Y-Knot’s town sheriff, Brandon Crawford, took it upon himself to go from Montana to Texas to rescue her, and after successfully doing so, proposed marriage. Now, back home in Y-Knot, they’re faced with a dilemma; unknown to Charity, Brandon had applied for a job as a deputy U.S. marshal, and he’s received a response to…

Wagon train romances (that aren’t inspirationals)
This list came out of a conversation from yesterday. I watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix and was disappointed -- but not surprised -- that the story called “The Gal Who Got Rattled” blew a delightful budding romance between a young woman and the wagon train leader with an unhappy ending. I felt the need to rectify this by seeking out some romance novels set on a wagon train. At least them I can trust to end happily!
Turns out I’m not alone in wanting to read a few wagon train romances, so here’s your list, @curliestofcrowns and @sequinedably!
(A lot of romances that take place on wagon trains are inspirationals. That’s... fine, but not what I read. Hence the title above.)
Montana Dawn by Caroline Fyffe. This is a sweet romance. The hero takes the heroine, a widow, on his family’s cattle drive after finding her in a wagon and delivering her baby daughter. (Heroine also has a son.) The reviews ding this one a bit for the heroine needlessly keeping secrets.
Come Home to Me by Peggy L. Henderson. Another non-explicit romance. This one has a time-travel element because why not. The hero is from modern times and ends up back in time scouting for a wagon train after being wrongfully accused of murder in the present (I don’t get it either). The heroine is posing as her brother’s wife on the wagon train (listen, I didn’t claim any of this was going to make sense). Plot includes three boys, the heroine’s nephews.
Topaz by Beverly Jenkins. I think this one takes place on a wagon as opposed to a wagon train, but I’m including it because one of the reviewers wrote, “They don’t expect to get along quite so well…or be quite so attracted to each other. Needless to say, sparks will be flying in that wagon!” and isn’t that the kind of thing we’re all here for? So the plot here is that the heroine is a journalist who is forced by her father to marry the hero, who then takes her back to his home in Oklahoma.
Wagon Train Cinderella by Shirley Kennedy. Another non-explicit one. The heroine is treated like a servant by her family (you noticed “Cinderella” in the title, yes?) who becomes close to the hero, a loner guiding the wagon train they join.
Holt’s Gamble by Barbara Ankrum. I believe this is the only old-school romance I included. The hero wins the heroine, an indentured servant, in a card game and is then attacked and seriously injured. The heroine gets him on the wagon train he was meant to join and pretends to be his wife while nursing him back to health. Despite pretending to be man and wife, neither plans to be interested in the other, as the hero is consumed with avenging his wife’s murder and the heroine is pursuing her father, who sold her into servitude, to the California gold fields.
Hannah by Cynthia Woolf. When the heroine’s little sister joins a wagon train in order to be a mail-order bride in Oregon, the heroine follows in order to protect her. She doesn’t expect to fall for the bounty-hunter hero paid to protect the train.
Always and Forever by Beverly Jenkins. This one looks fun! The heroine hires the hero to protect a wagon train of brides making their way to a woman-starved town in the West.
To Have and to Hold by Leigh Greenwood. The hero saves the heroine after her wagon train is attacked. She’s convinced that he’s come to arrest her for a crime that she can’t remember. Ah, romance novels, gotta love the amnesia.
Brides of Prairie Gold by Maggie Osborne. The hero is a wagon master who falls for one of the women on the wagon train he’s leading of mail-order brides. Might be a bit light on the romance, as a reviewer mentioned this was closer to historical fiction. But Maggie Osborne is great, so I’m including it.
These were soooooooooo hard to find and so I had to be a little free in terms of, um, potential quality, but I thought this group of books sounded fun and full of frontier hardship and hijinks! Happy reading!

Hmmmm. How to word this correctly? Well, I enjoyed this book even with the glaring loopholes that frustrated me no end. A historical romance written competently with just enough mystery thrown in to spice up matters and a sweet love story underlining the…

#LivingWhileBlack: Videos Document Everyday Harassment
#PermitPatty. #BBQBetty. #CornerstoreCaroline. A series of videos posted on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube this year show black people being badgered by white people as they swim, barbecue, babysit or engage in other everyday activities. The widely shared confrontations, often with alliterative hashtags, drew enormous audiences for what might have once been private disputes. Here are some of the #LivingWhileBlack encounters that have gone viral and what happened as a result:
#Cornerstore Caroline
A white woman accused a 9-year-old black boy of grabbing her backside in a Brooklyn deli on Oct. 10 but two days later, after watching surveillance videotape, admitted that the boy had accidentally brushed up against her possibly with his bag. "Young man, I don’t know your name, but I’m sorry," she said.
Blocked at the Door
A white neighbor tried to block a black man from entering his loft in downtown St. Louis on Oct. 12, asking him which unit he lived in and following him to his apartment. D'Arreion Nuriyah Toles told her that he had already entered the building. Police later arrived at his door. The woman was fired by her employer, Tribeca-STL Management, a property management company and Toles told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was looking into his legal options.
#PermitPatty
A white woman, Alison Ettel, threatened to call police about an 8-year-old black girl selling bottled water without a permit in San Francisco in June. Ettel said that the girl, Jordan Rodgers, was being too loud. Rodgers’ mother countered that Ettel never asked Jordan to be quieter, and instead immediately demanded to see a permit. Afterward Ettel stepped down as the chief executive of TreatWell, a California company that produces cannabis-based tinctures and edibles, saying in a statement that the company, its patients and employees, “should not have to suffer because of a situation that occurred in an escalated moment.”
#BBQBecky
In April, a white woman called police to complain about black residents barbecuing at Lake Merritt Park in Oakland. The woman referred to the danger posed by their charcoal grill, which was not permitted at that spot. The black residents, among them Kenzie Smith, said that she threatened them with jail. A “BBQing While Black” cookout followed, Smith was nominated for a position of the city’s Park and Recreation Advisory Committee and in July he announced a campaign to run for Oakland City Council.
Sitting in #Starbucks
Two 23-year-old men were led out of a Philadelphia Starbucks in handcuffs in April because they had not ordered anything while they waited for a business partner to arrive for a meeting. A manager had called the police. The men, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson, reached a financial settlement with Starbucks for an undisclosed sum and an offer of a free college education. Starbucks closed its more than 8,000 company-owned coffee shops in the United States and its corporate offices for racial-bias training on the afternoon of May 29.
#SwimmingSheriffSusie
Shane Holland was asked to leave a pool at his own apartment complex in Indiana in July after he showed his key to an off-duty police officer who was providing security at the pool but refused to give her his address. An apartment manager confirmed Holland was a resident but asked him to leave because he had not answered the off-duty officer’s question. The manager was put on administrative leave.
Accusations of profiling at swimming pools recurred throughout the summer.
Swimming With Socks
On the Fourth of July, a manager of another apartment complex, this one in Memphis, demanded that a black man take off his socks while he dipped his feet in the pool. Kevin Yates refused — he said the ground was hot — and the manager, Erica Walker, called police. Yates' girlfriend, Camry Porter, said that white people who were wearing shirts or hats were not asked to remove them. Walker was fired.
#IDAdam
Also on the Fourth of July, a white man called police after a black woman would not show him her identification at a community pool in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The woman, Jazmine Abhulimen, was at the pool with her son when Adam Bloom, the pool chairman of the Glenridge Homeowners Association, asked for her ID. Abhulimen had a key card that allowed her into the pool. Bloom was fired from his job at Sonoco, an international packaging firm, and resigned as pool chairman and from the association’s board.
#PoolPatrolPaula. A white woman from Summerville, South Carolina, hit a 15-year-old at a neighborhood pool and was charged with third-degree assault. Stephanie Sebby-Strempel told the teenager and his friends to leave. She was fired from her job as a consultant at skincare company Rodan + Fields.
Eating Lunch at Smith
An employee at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, called campus police on a black student who was eating her lunch in a common area while on break from her on-campus summer job in July. The employee said Oumou Kanoute seemed out of place. Smith placed the employee on leave and ordered an external investigation of the incident. The college’s president apologized to Kanoute, who says she felt humiliated and who wants an apology from the employee whom Smith declined to identify.
Leaving an Airbnb
A neighbor called police and reported a possible burglary as four people left an Airbnb in Rialto, California, in April. Three of the four were black and one was a filmmaker and granddaughter of Bob Marley. "The officers came out of their cars demanding us to put our hands in the air," another guest, filmmaker, Kelly Fyffe-Marshall, posted on Instagram. "They informed us that there was also a helicopter tracking us." They sued The Rialto Police Department, saying they had been treated unfairly. The police department says its officer treated the group with dignity and respect.
Black Women Golfing
Five black women golfing in Dover Township in York County, a largely white suburb in Pennsylvania, in April were approached by a former county commissioner whose son owns the Grandview Golf Club and told they were playing too slowly. They were asked to leave and threatened with the cancellation of their memberships. Golfers behind the women told The Daily Record that the women had kept up the pace. Police arrived but left quickly and the state Human Rights Commission later held hearings.
Babysitting in Georgia
A woman called police on a black man babysitting two white children in Marietta, Georgia, after the man, Corey Lewis, refused to let her speak to the children. He had taken the children to a Walmart, then a gas station, when the woman followed them. Lewis runs a child care and mentoring business called Inspired By Lewis. The police officer questioned the children and called their parents.
A "Suspicious Person"
An Oregon state lawmaker was reported to police as a “suspicious person” while she was canvassing constituents’ homes in Portland in July. A sheriff’s deputy told Janelle Bynum that a caller said she appeared to casing the neighborhood for unoccupied houses that could be burglarized. When the deputy called the caller, she apologized to Bynum.
Napping While Black
A black graduate student at Yale University, Lolade Siyonbola, who took a nap in a common room while working on papers, was awakened by a white student whom she said told her she was not supposed to sleep there. The white student called campus police. A Yale vice president called the May episode "troubling" and promised listening sessions with students.
