Started Carnivàle and I am so sad because it is the BEST show I've watched in a long time, but it's from 2003 and I don't think the fandom is that big still, so like what do I do with this brief, brilliant show that I know doesn't get resolved because it wasn't renewed and there isn't enough conversation about how insane and great it is

some new viewers in the tag and yeah you're not going to get nearly the same level of fandom engagement you're used to seeing with new popular shows but the wider internet still has some gems floating around. for example, if you're interested in some guy's like 5k word explorations of every episode, check this out (go to the second page of the search results to start from the first episode, it's in reverse chrono)

woah what a question. i don't really do top (insert number here) lists, especially of all time/ever, because my preferences come and go in phases, and my favs aren't really stagnant. that being said, though, here (in no particular order) are a handful of movies and shows (in varying amounts of weird) that i would call some of my favourites, and that are very top of mind for me recently:

Ravenous (1999) (and for that matter, pretty much all of Antonia Bird's filmography)

Farscape (1999-2003)

Robots (2005)

Wendell & Wild (2022)

Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)

Stargate Universe (2009-2011) (the rest of the stargate franchise, too, but sgu is my fav)

I Saw the TV Glow (2024)

Pom Poko (the most underrated Ghibli film in my opinion)

The DC Animated Universe (aka the Timmverse, beginning with Batman the Animated Series in 1992)

pretty much just all of Guillermo Del Toro's filmography, ESPECIALLY: Pan's Labrynth, The Tales of Arcadia, Pinocchio, The Shape of Water, and Pacific Rim

i can't really think too hard when asked stuff like this, because the more i think, the more i forget what exists in this world, let alone what i enjoy

here are some honorable mentions that aren't quite so top of mind for me right now, but i also really really enjoy HBO's Carnivàle, Netflix's Lost In Space, Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, (also star trek, esp ds9), Gargoyles, 9 (2009), Resident Alien, Shallow Grave (1994)
