Sapphic Surprise
Carla Dosa x Fem ReaderÂ
[Authorâs Note: This has been floating around in my head since yesterday and itâs too funny not to do. Also Iâm fleshing out Lionelâs character because I think heâs a little neat and could have definitely had a redemption arc if he lived]
Secrets of Legendaria was supposed to be their biggest hit, a game that would be remembered for centuries. The pressure was on and everyone was overworked and tired.Â
Usually Lionel and Carla were good at keeping their arguments behind closed doors but this was different. Itâs hard to keep your anger to yourself when the only thing keeping you sane is root beer and energy drinks. They were meaner than usual, going for each otherâs throats without mercy. Everyone in the building kept silent, pretending to be busy as they listened in.Â
âThat design is completely impractical! How the hell is she supposed to fight in that!?â
âOh come on itâs a fantasy game! The clothing isnât supposed to make sense! Youâre always nagging me, I swear this is why you donât have a boyfriend.âÂ
This wasnât the first time Lionel had made a comment like that but usually Carla would bite her tongue and just ignore him. She didnât like hearing that talk, especially not from someone she once considered a friend but she remained silent for your sake. Unfortunately she had enough of her bossâs snooty remarks and right now she lacked common sense.Â
âIm gay and Iâm dating your sister, you dumb fuck!âÂ
Lionel choked on his soda, the contents almost spilling to the floor as he put his hand over his mouth. A few people in the room stopped pretending to be busy as they turned their heads towards the arguing pair. Everyone in the room felt some satisfaction seeing Carla take him down a notch.
Everyone knew who you were. You didnât have any programming experience but you would occasionally come over to visit your brother or help him with his finances. You were well liked by his employees because you were the complete opposite of him. Unlike Lionel, you knew how to build a good rapport for yourself. You were easy to get along with because you didnât care about status. You treated yourself like you were just another person, not the bossâs sister.Â
He was dumbfounded for a moment, putting his soda cup on some random personsâs desk. âYouâre what!?â
âYou heard me.â Carla puts down her drink as well and crosses her arms over her chest. It looks like they might fight and plenty of people already have their phones prepared if that ends up being the case. âWeâve been dating ever since middle school and you never noticed. Please donât tell me that it bothers you that much.â The smug smile on her face showed that she was savoring this victory. Initially you both agreed to keep your relationship a secret because you werenât sure how your parents would react but now you were on your own and didnât rely on them for anything. Now seemed like the best time.
Lionel is seething, itâs getting harder for him to keep his cool. Especially after everything Carla had said. âIt doesnât bother me that my sister is gay, it bothers me that her standards are so low!âÂ
He could understand why you wouldnât tell your parents, both of you were raised in a very strict environment but he felt a little hurt that you never opened up to him about it. Unfortunately heâs been very influence by his parentâs views but your his sister and he would rather take your side than the parents you guys shared. If they couldnât accept you as their daughter then he wouldnât accept them as his parents, easy as that.Â
Lionel turns to look at all the people staring at them as if silently waiting for them continue grilling each other. âAnd what are you guys staring at!? Get back to work!âÂ
ââââ-
Getting a call from your brother this early on in the day was unusual. He was at work right now, surely he should be working on games or participating in important business meetings.Â
Regardless of the sudden call you accept it and put your phone on speaker.Â
âHello?âÂ
âHow are you doing?âÂ
You donât need to see his face to know that heâs mad at you although you arenât sure why. It was normal for you two to get into the occasional argument but you donât think youâve done anything to piss him off.Â
You stop what youâre doing to pick up the phone and start pacing around Carlaâs apartment. Youâve stayed so many nights there that youâre starting to forget the layout of your own house. âIâm doing good.â You say with a hint of nervous confusion. Youâre a little worried about your brotherâs sudden hostile tone towards you.Â
âAnd howâs Carla doing?â He asks with that same interrogating tone of voice. You feel like youâre being put on trial. Your stomach drops and you feel that sliver of anxiety crawl down your spine.Â
âWhy would I know how your employee is doing? Is this a trick question?â You retort, playing dumb as you slip on one of her hoodies thatâs lying around.Â
âWell I think you know her better than I do considering the fact youâre at her apartment right now!â He raises his voice and you lean away from the loud sound coming from the phone. âIf youâre going to try to be sneaky at least turn off your gps.â He lets out an exasperated sigh as he leans back in his chair.Â
You put a hand on your forehead, already feeling a headache coming on. You were scared of something like this happening. You never told him because you didnât want to have to choose between your brother or your girlfriend. You didnât want to have to make a choice, you wanted them both to be in your life. And that includes Lionel, even if he was sort of a pain.Â
âAre you mad?â You anxiously pace around the apartment. You knew you would have to tell him eventually as Carla was the one you planned to spend the rest of your life with but you didnât want it to be like this.Â
Thereâs only silence on both ends as if heâs actually taking your question into account. âNo, Iâm not. I just-Why didnât you tell me? Iâm not thrilled about the fact that youâre dating Carla of all people but Iâm not going to hate you for it.âÂ
This was a rare moment where Lionel was actually having a heart to heart conversation with someone. Thereâs no shouting coming from him. Even if he is insensitive and a little ignorant you can tell that he cares and a part of you feels bad that you havenât told him sooner. Your brother confided in you about almost everything but you kept so many secrets from him.Â
âI just wasnât sure how you would react.â You fumble with the drawstrings of Carlaâs hoodie. Itâs all you could muster as you stopped pacing and just stood there. Lionel canât really blame you for feeling that way as he isnât really sure how to react with the sudden news either.
âI want to talk about this in person, come see me tomorrow.â Itâs very sudden and itâs oddly mature of him but itâs better than him throwing insults and accusations. He actually seems like he wasnât to talk to you about this in a collected way. âIâll see you then, I guess.âÂ
He hangs up and you stand in silence for a moment as you process that conversation you just had with him.Â
This seems like it can be a turning point for Lionel.Â

RevengeÂ
Carla Dosa x Reader (kind of?)Â
[Authorâs Note: My first writing piece for this blog! I love The Hex and I wish it had X Readers but it didnât so Iâm contributing. A lot of this has to do with my own interpretation so not everything here is canon! Also this can be seen as either romantic or platonic. Enjoy!]
You remember when times were a lot more simple. When you, Lionel, and Carla were little kids and your biggest problem was who got to play as which character in the video games you played together.Â
When Lionel first released Super Weasel Kid, he was a little sheepish. It was just something he did for fun yet it became so popular. You and Carla couldnât help but be proud of him. Then the second game was released, then he sold the rights to GameFuna, then the third game was released.
Youâre surprised that he didnât forget you and Carla as he rose to fame. Youâre starting to wonder if that was for the best though. At first you and Carla were ecstatic to work for such a large game company and have your little trio be reunited but things took a turn for the worse. You watched your small friend group fall apart as the arguing between Lional and Carla became more frequent. Unfortunately, you were always in the middle of these arguments. You hated having to pick a side when you still cared for both of your friends.Â
What used to be a fun job was now something that riddled you with stress. You thought about quitting several times but you didnât want to leave Carla all alone or have Lionel snap at you like he did with his other employees.Â
Itâs a late night at the office and youâre more than ready to go home and sleep off the stress of these daily conflicts. You stand up from your cubicle, making sure that everything is in your bag before you leave. You look over at Carla whoâs hunched over her computer. You wish she didnât push herself so hard but she was trying to prove a point to Lionel.Â
When he made his first female character, Chandrelle, Carla didnât take it very well. She claimed that she appealed too much to the âmale gazeâ which was something you didnât disagree with but didnât comment on because you didnât want to be apart of their drama yet again. To counter Lionel, she was making her own female character which she named Sado. Ever since then itâs like Carla was glued to her chair. She didnât want to do anything else other than develop this character.Â
âAh, Y/n.â Carla calls out to you as you pass by her cubicle. She looks tired, her eyes reflect the light of the computer screen. Despite her disheveled looking appearance thereâs a victorious smirk on her face. âLook at the progress Iâve made. I got Lionel this time.â You really donât want to be wrapped up in more drama but Carlaâs behavior is starting to worry you.Â
You walk over to see whatâs on her computer screen. You lean in closer, squinting because the screen is so bright and because youâre trying to figure out what the hell youâre looking at.Â
It looks like the regular coding software that everyone uses but something is wrong about it. You havenât seen those red things before.Â
âItâs experimental but I think itâll be perfect, what do you think?â You donât even know what youâre supposed to be thinking. You want to tell Carla how worried you are, that sheâs taking her rivalry with Lionel way too far. Would she even listen to you if you expressed those concerns? âWhat is it?â You ask, confusion is evident in your voice.Â
Your reaction only makes Carlaâs smile grow wider. âThis is just an idea IâŚâ She takes a moment to pick her words carefully. âBorrowed from Kaycee.âÂ
You remember Kaycee, she wasnât working on any of Lionelâs games but you met her at a mandatory work party. She was a little closed off but still cool to hang out with. She was working on another game in a different part of the building so you didnât see her very often but you knew that her and Carla stayed in touch. That doesnât make Carlaâs words any less mysterious though, it wasnât like her to be this cryptic.Â
You open your mouth to speak, to question Carla further but she interrupts you. âKaycee told me a secret, something that can get us fired or even worse if anyone else knows about it. She found something in the game she was working on. Itâs quite the game changer.â Carla turns back to her screen, her mouse moving to connect the hooks to the blocks and whatever those red things are. âI was able to replicate its likeness but I think itâs missing something.â She sighs, her face moving even closer to the computer.Â
Youâre freaked out. You donât know what sheâs talking about but it canât be good. Youâre not sure what to do, do you tell Lionel? Kaycee? Should you tell HR that youâre worried about her? Would anyone even listen to your concerns?Â
Carla isnât acting like herself and it scares you. You have known her since elementary school and you know that something is seriously wrong if sheâs acting like this but what can you do about it?Â
You donât know what to do. After that interaction you bid Carla goodnight and went back home. It was the cowardly option but what could you do?Â
You think about your choices, itâs either get Kaycee or Lionel involved or watch Carla destroy herself.Â
Carlaâs revenge wasnât worth it.Â
