I recently moved Wendy from the barn pen to Earl's pen, since I finally sold her last daughter. She got to spend a couple days in the middle pen where Earl and Heather could see her first, and then I moved her through the inter-pen doorway that's just for birds.
Now you must understand. I have Wendy because I got a phone call to come catch a feral/escapee peahen that had invited herself over to someones coop and decided she would take up residence. Just made herself at home. So we caught her, and I put her into the barn pen with the others after quarantine and vet checks....
and shortly after doing that, I started finding the pen door open. It thankfully opens into the barn, not outside, but I thought I was losing my mind. I thought I was forgetting to close the door behind myself. But I wasn't! This little shit found the small string we use to open the door from the inside if we accidentally get locked in the pen, and she was pulling it to open the door. So, we put a carabiner on the latch and as long as we don't forget that, the door stays closed.
Now, pen 3 doesn't have an oh shit string. It doesn't need one, I can reach my hand through the fencing near the door and let myself out. The latch isn't one she could open from the inside.
But you know what door DOES have a latch she can reach?
The fucking bird gate.
The bird door between the pens just has an eye and hook latch.
Earl and Heather have been in that pen since March, largely with Stella and Eris, and shortly with Aurora, and there were never issues with the latch being peafowl accessible because none of them knew what a latch was or cared.
Wendy has been in that pen about a week, and this morning I let them out of the coop into the pen and not even 5 minutes later, she had the door open and was in the middle pen helping herself to the remaining wet feed from the day before.
This bird is a menace
#Wendy#peahens#my pets#peafowl#seriously??? girl i know why you were lost#cause you pulled some shit like this

congrats on 100 followers, you totally deserve it :D ˚✧₊⁎ if it’s still opened.. could i request osamu x reader as culinary school rivals??
❝ COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS ❞ — miya osamu

cw. gn!reader, culinary school!au, rivals to friends, fluff, language (reader has a bit of a potty mouth), onigiri miya is a family business, there’s just a slight tension between them, not beta read. word count. ~ 1.6k
getting locked out of your dorm isn’t the worst thing that can happen, until you have to call in a favour from miya osamu, your literal nightmare— or a blessing in disguise?
event masterlist

this is so stupid and would’ve been completely avoidable if you just slept even a little bit last night instead of staying up experimenting before heading for your morning class.
with a huff of annoyance and bleary bloodshot eyes from sleep deprivation and rubbing them in a desperate hope of waking yourself up from a half-asleep half-dead state, you rummage through your bag for the overloaded carabiner one more time for good measure, you’ll never know if it was just hidden in a pocket that you missed— nope never mind, it’s not there.
“fuck me.” slamming your palm on the door, you rest your forehead on the smooth hardwood doors of your dorm entrance and sigh, just my fucking luck.
you can picture it crystal clear, all the ingredients you’ve neatly laid out on the kitchen counter ready for you to prepare a quick lunch, and that damned mason jar of bottled gold. you spent the whole of last night and the ones before perfecting it and now it sits just outside of your reach, like the gods above playing a sick trick on you— except there’s no trick, just you being stupid and forgetting to bring your keys out that landed yourself in this predicament.
your frustration is immeasurable, you need that for a class later in the afternoon that weighs a hefty amount on your grade and you can’t afford missing out on it, you’ve spent so much time on it after all and refuse to give in. all this is making you want to run your hands through your hair and harshly tug, hoping that the sting would rouse you from this bad dream.
no one’s in the dorms right now, everyone’s either in class or the library, and the sweet old dorm lady’s out and about sourcing for ingredients in town; it’s restock wednesday.
you’re ransacking your brain, mentally going through a list of people you could possibly engage for help, mumbling under your breath so the pathetic silence doesn’t swallow you whole. it’s quiet aside from the birds overhead, their constant chirping grating to your ears, almost like they’re mocking you.
“i don’t have cash on hand to pay a locksmith.”
“i could ask noya to try picking the lock, but knowing him it’s more likely that he’ll break it.”
"could maybe try asking ukai? but that geezer will probably say no just to fuck with me."
there's no one else around or remotely in the area other than— oh hell no. his family restaurant is just off campus and wouldn't take too long for you to get there and back to class later but just the thought of needing help from that guy sickens you to the pits of your stomach. but beggars can't be choosers, and the you of today chooses the only option that will secure you your grade.
your last option is unfortunately, miya osamu — next in line to run onigiri miya, mister “i’m going to be the best in the academy”, always trying to one-up you, stupid grey-haired baseball cap wearing bane of your existence.
the trek there thankfully isn’t too long since your dorm is closer to the edge of campus, and the little diner just a stone’s throw away from the road leading to the academy gates. the small shopping district is pretty quiet at this time of the day, most middle and public high school kids still having classes and the salary men slaving their lives away at their desks in air-conditioned offices.
before long, you’re standing in front of onigiri miya, the warm lights from inside the store seeping out through the whites of the sliding door. taking a deep breath and bracing yourself to face him, you raise your fist and knock to announce your arrival and gently pull it open.
“i have to say, you’re the last person i expected to see walk through those doors willingly. this better be good.”
osamu stands with his arms crossed, clad in his usual black tee and matching hat, waist apron printed with the logo crest of onigiri miya. his eyebrows are raised in faux surprise, almost teasing as he gives your figure an up down with his trademark lazy patronising smile.
you scoff, walking past him and straight to the counter seats, placing your bag on the light wooden surface, “don’t flatter yourself miya, i’m not here to see you.”
shaking his head and turning around, he heads behind the counter and leans forward, resting on his forearms, “yeah? why else would you be here then?”
he’s close, a little too close and you take a step back, placing your hand atop his head and pushing him away, face warming up in embarrassment, “shut up.”
with a sigh, your reluctantly murmur the next four words, “i need your help.”
“i’m sorry, i didn’t quite hear you there, come again?” you desperately want to slap that shit eating grin off his equally handsome and annoying face, he definitely heard you and is messing with you, but what did you expect really?
raising your voice, you snarl, but the impact’s dulled with your inability to meet his eyes, “i said, i need your help, you little bitch.”
osamu chuckles, you’re cute. you must’ve been at your wits end to even bother coming to him for help.
he claps and rubs his hands together, “okay then, how can i be of service?”
you explain the situation at the expense of a few jabs and lighthearted insults from him, how so very childish. the plan is to recreate the concoction of a sauce that you made last night, current sitting in all its glory in the dorm’s kitchen, the same dorm that you’ve conveniently locked yourself out of. he agrees that it’s the most logical solution, seeing that you already know the proportions and just don’t have access to the ingredients, which he can provide his disposal at the restaurant.
he’s surprisingly focused and helpful, even with his provoking comments once in a while, studying your recipe and even making a few samples on the side with additions that he thinks might complement or enhance the flavour palate that you’re going for with your dish. you notice little things that you didn’t before— his tongue pokes out of his mouth when he’s in the zone, he furrows his eyebrows when processing a taste and the way his nose scrunches if it tastes a little odd.
as much as osamu’s existence pisses you off, you can’t deny that he’s good at what he does and completely justified in aiming for the top seat. he’s not arrogant, just extremely sure of himself and his abilities, a quality you wish you had in this competitively and highly individualistic field. what’s the point of someone having your back if you can’t have your own? some days, a little self-assurance goes a long way.
with a few last minute tweaks to your original proportions (courtesy of him), a new bottle of liquid gold sits in the palm of your hand, an even better version of what you had, if it was even possible.
nudging your shoulder with his, he looks over at you with an annoying smirk, “everyone say thank you osamu!”
“tch, shut up.” you roll your eyes, nudging him back with more force, enough to cause him to stumble over his feet as you bite back a laugh.
you eye the clock, there’s still plenty of time before your class begins and as you think about the lunch that you supposed to cook for yourself back at the dorms, your stomach lets out a series of gurgles, your face simultaneously flushing with embarrassment.
wordlessly, osamu begins whipping up something in the kitchen, a fresh fragrance hitting your senses and filling the air. as much as you hate to deny it, your mouth waters in anticipation and you bashfully shuffle behind him to peek at what he’s doing.
he just glances at you over his shoulder and juts his chin out in the direction of the counter seats, “sit down, i’m making you something to eat.”
raising your nose in mock defiance, you scoff, “who said i was staying for lunch?”
he just shoos you away with the wave of his hand and a mischievous glint in his eyes, “just let me make you something that’ll make you say it’s delicious, trust me.”
it’s been a running thing between the two of you since you met in a class and demanded to try his food after his grand declaration of being the top. you’re both prodigies in your own right, and you just wanted to see if the man could deliver as he spoke. don’t get it wrong, his dish was absolutely divine and brought you back to memories of your childhood home and running around in the backyard with dirt covered sandals chasing dragonflies, but you refused to admit that there was someone up to par, barely choking out an unconvincing, “tastes like shit.” before shoving your dish in his face.
it’s no different this time, and you’re unsure if it’s because of the calm and humble atmosphere of onigiri miya, the domesticity of watching him cook in the comfort of his home kitchen, or just how hungry you are, but all it takes is one bite before you start unabashedly scarfing down his delicious creation.
if he’s smug about it he doesn’t show it, choosing to savour the rare peace and quiet of non-bickering, but silently knowing that perhaps he has won this time. wiping the sweat off his brow, he leans against the staff doorway and watches you eat with a soft smile, munching on his own onigiri.
“hey, wanna walk to campus together?”

i wonder if one day ill be chosen first
a day where im not the one who reaches out,
doesn’t make the plans,
doesn’t get excited like a dog
waiting for its owner
chained to the gate
and its all misery and pleasure
and a trap,
but the gate is open
and there is no lock, or key,
just a carabiner
and i push it, and i put on the collar and the leash
and i can tell how humiliating it looks
to keep staying
but i stay, and i stay
and i hide in the shed
like an old dog waiting
isnt it so sad?
i wish it wasnt like this, wish i was worth more
than chewed up bones and milk treats,
worth more than a single text, waiting for hours,
worth more than pretending everything is okay,
pretending i don’t care
because i do,
i do,
and im sad and im happy
and im pulled and im pushed
but i never go anywhere
im always in the same place,
someone give me the strength to move on
or just push me away
just leave me alone

Carabiner Crazy: Using Online Specs & Reviews to Choose the Right 'Biners for Every Job

Walk up to any seasoned climber, and you'll likely see their harness adorned with an array of metal loops – carabiners, often affectionately called 'biners. These unassuming pieces of gear are the fundamental connection points in the climbing safety system, linking rope to harness, harness to anchor, protection to rope. They are common, necessary, and vital to security. Yet, stroll through an online climbing shop, and the sheer variety can be overwhelming. Ovals, Ds, Pear-shapes, wire gates, solid gates, screw locks, auto-locks, tiny lightweight models, burly steel workhorses... how do you possibly choose the right one? While they might look similar at first glance, subtle differences in design dictate their optimal use and safety parameters. Thankfully, the digital age provides powerful tools – detailed online specifications and user reviews – that empower climbers to cut through the confusion and select the perfect carabiner for every specific task.
The advantage of researching and purchasing Climbing Products Online is immense, especially for technical gear like carabiners. Unlike a potentially limited selection at a local store, online retailers offer access to a vast range of brands, models, colors, and features from around the globe. Crucially, online product pages provide immediate access to critical technical specifications – strength ratings, weight, gate opening, dimensions, material composition, and certifications – all laid out for comparison. Furthermore, user reviews offer invaluable real-world insights into handling characteristics, durability, and potential quirks that might not be apparent from specs alone. This combination of comprehensive data and community feedback allows climbers to make highly informed decisions, ensuring they acquire not just any carabiner, but the right carabiner for their intended use, maximizing both safety and efficiency.
Decoding the Data: Key Carabiner Specs Found Online
When browsing carabiners online, focus on deciphering these key specifications:
Shape: The overall shape significantly impacts handling, strength, and optimal use.
D-Shape: Strongest shape when loaded along the major axis (spine), as it directs force away from the weaker gate. Excellent for most applications, including quickdraws. Asymmetric Ds offer wider gate openings.
Oval: Symmetrical shape, ideal for racking gear smoothly (nuts don't bunch up), certain pulley systems, and aid climbing where gear needs to sit predictably. Generally weaker and heavier than D-shapes.
HMS (Pear Shape): Named from the German "Halbmastwurfsicherung" (Munter hitch belay), these larger, pear-shaped locking carabiners provide ample space for belaying with a Munter hitch or various belay devices, rigging, and connecting multiple items.
Gate Type: How the carabiner opens and closes is a critical distinction.
Solid Gate: Traditional design, often with straight or bent gates. Straight gates are standard; bent gates facilitate easier rope clipping (typically used on the rope-end of quickdraws).
Wire Gate: Lighter than solid gates, less prone to freezing in icy conditions, and less susceptible to "gate flutter" (a resonance that can momentarily open the gate during a fall – though rare). Offer excellent strength-to-weight ratios.
Locking Gates: Essential where security is paramount (belaying, anchors, rappelling).
Screwgate: Manually screwed sleeve locks the gate. Simple, reliable, less prone to freezing/jamming with grit than some auto-lockers, but requires conscious effort to lock (and check!).
Auto-locking: Spring-loaded sleeve automatically locks when the gate closes. Common types include Twist-lock (twist and pull), Magnetic, and Triple-Action (e.g., lift, twist, pull) offering increasing levels of security against accidental opening. Online specs clearly state the locking mechanism.
Strength Ratings: Mandatory markings (usually etched on the spine and visible in online photos/specs) indicate minimum breaking strength in kilonewtons (kN).
Major Axis: Strength along the spine with the gate closed (highest rating).
Minor Axis: Strength across the width of the carabiner with the gate closed (much lower). Avoid loading carabiners this way.
Gate Open: Strength along the major axis with the gate open (lowest rating). This highlights why ensuring gates are closed and locked (if applicable) is critical. Online specs always list these three values.
Size and Weight: Crucial for alpine climbing or long routes where every gram counts. Smaller carabiners save weight but can be harder to handle, especially with gloves. Online listings provide exact weight (in grams) and dimensions (length/width).
Gate Opening: The maximum width the gate opens. A larger opening makes clipping ropes, slings, or anchors easier. Compare this spec online, especially for the rope-end 'biner on quickdraws or for HMS carabiners.
Nose Design (Keylock vs. Hooked): The nose is where the gate meets the carabiner body.
Hooked/Notch Nose: Traditional design with a hook that can snag on gear loops, bolt hangers, or slings, making unclipping frustrating.
Keylock Nose: Features a smooth notch-free interface, allowing for snag-free clipping and unclipping. Highly preferred for most applications, and clearly advertised on relevant carabiners online.
Matching 'Biners to the Job: Using Online Info for Application
With specs understood, online research helps you select the right tool:
Belaying/Rappelling: Look for HMS/Pear-shaped locking carabiners online. Compare auto-locking vs. screwgate based on preference and conditions. Check reviews for smoothness with your specific belay device.
Building Anchors: Choose strong locking carabiners (D or HMS). Consider screwgates for simplicity or triple-action auto-lockers for maximum security, especially in guide or instructional settings. Online comparisons help weigh security features against ease of use.
Quickdraws: Often sold pre-assembled online. Look for draws with a straight gate (bolt end) and a bent or wire gate (rope end). Prioritize keylock noses for snag-free cleaning. Compare weight and sling length options available online. For alpine draws, lightweight wiregate carabiners on both ends are common – check online specs for the lightest, certified options. While your climbing harness holds your critical life-support gear, managing smaller personal items requires a different approach. Keeping essentials like sunscreen, lip balm, or snacks easily accessible yet secure might involve clipping a small pouch or utilizing something like a Waterproof Fanny Pack worn separately, ensuring these comfort items are protected from sweat or unexpected showers without interfering with your climbing rack.
Racking Gear (Cams/Nuts): Lightweight Ovals or small D-shaped non-lockers work well. Ovals rack symmetrically. Online reviews might comment on how well specific models sit on different harness gear loops.
Alpine/Trad Climbing: Weight is often paramount. Search online specifically for lightweight wiregate carabiners. Compare strength-to-weight ratios listed in the specs. Consider color-coding options available online to match cams for faster identification.
Leveraging Online Reviews for Nuance
Specifications tell only part of the story. Online user reviews provide invaluable context:
Handling: How does it feel in the hand? Is the gate action smooth or stiff? Is it easy to operate the locking mechanism, especially with one hand or wearing gloves? Reviews often detail these subjective but crucial aspects.
Durability: Users might comment on how the anodization holds up, or if the gate mechanism remains smooth after extended use or exposure to dirt/chalk.
Real-World Use: Climbers might share specific compatibility notes (e.g., "works great with X belay device," "gate opening is tight for Y rope").
Potential Issues: Look for recurring comments about gate flutter (rare but possible on some non-lockers), susceptibility to freezing/jamming, or premature wear.
Cross-reference reviews across multiple online retailers or climbing forums for a balanced perspective. Just as you meticulously choose each piece of your climbing system, ensuring the protection of your entire investment during transport is also key. Stowing your rope, harness, and other sensitive equipment inside a durable Waterproof Dry Bag during wet approaches or storage protects them from moisture and dirt, maximizing their lifespan and readiness for your next climb.
Don't Forget Certification & Reputable Sellers
Always ensure carabiners purchased online are certified by recognized bodies like the UIAA (International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation) or CE (European Conformity). Reputable online climbing retailers will clearly display these certifications. Avoid suspiciously cheap deals from unknown sellers, as counterfeit gear poses a deadly risk.
Conclusion: Click Confidently for the Right Connection
The humble carabiner is a masterpiece of engineering, vital to every climber's safety and efficiency. Navigating the sea of options can seem daunting, but by leveraging the wealth of information available online – detailed specifications, comparative data, and real-world user reviews – you can confidently select the perfect 'biner for every task. Taking the time to research Climbing Products Online ensures you invest in gear that meets your needs precisely, enhancing both performance and peace of mind. Remember, the right connection point is critical on the wall, just as ensuring your personal items are secure in a Waterproof Fanny Pack or your larger gear is protected in a Waterproof Dry Bag from trusted brands like Skog Å Kust contributes to a smoother, safer, and more enjoyable overall adventure. Research diligently, choose wisely, and climb safely!

Same day, but a little further afield, over the hills into Speyside to Mortlach Kirk on the outskirts of Dufftown. First up, outside in the kirkyard, is what's known as the Battle Stone or Mortlach 1. The carvings aren't particularly clear, to be honest, but the gate into the kirkyard has a convenient metal replica showing what they're supposed to look like.
Second and much clearer is Mortlach 2, located inside the vestibule. This church was also locked, but by luck the caretaker was strimming the grass outside and was able to let me in for a quick look. Supposedly this stone was accidentally unearthed by a gravedigger. It shows a Beast above an odd symbol which sort of looks like a double-ended carabiner, and is sometimes referred to as the Mortlach Symbol because it's not been found on any other stones. The stone itself is also locally nicknamed the Elephant Stone, but I refuse to call it that because I still maintain that 'elephant' is a stupid way of describing the Pictish Beast.

What to consider when buying climbing gear?
Buying climbing gear is an important step for anyone getting into rock climbing or other climbing activities. Here are some key factors to consider when purchasing climbing gear:
Safety: Safety should always be your top priority. Make sure the gear you're buying is certified and meets relevant safety standards. Look for UIAA or CE certification labels on the products.
Type of Climbing: Consider the type of climbing you'll be doing: sport climbing, trad climbing, bouldering, alpine climbing, etc. Different types of climbing require specific gear. For instance, sport climbing focuses on quickdraws and ropes, while trad climbing requires a larger set of gear for protection placements.
Fit and Comfort: Climbing gear, especially harnesses and climbing shoes, should fit comfortably. Ill-fitting gear can affect your performance and safety. Try on harnesses, shoes, and helmets before purchasing to ensure a proper fit.
Harness: Look for a harness that's comfortable for extended periods of wear. It should have adjustable leg loops and a waist belt, as well as sufficient gear loops for your needs. Harnesses also come in different styles, such as lightweight for sport climbing or more padded for trad climbing.
Climbing Shoes: Climbing shoes should fit snugly but not painfully. Different shoes have different levels of aggressiveness, which affects performance. Flat shoes are more comfortable for longer climbs, while aggressive shoes are better for technical routes and bouldering.
Helmet: A climbing helmet is essential for protecting your head from falling rocks and debris. Look for a helmet that's comfortable, adjustable, and provides good coverage without obstructing your vision.
Ropes: The choice of ropes depends on the type of climbing you're doing. For sport climbing, a single dynamic rope is usually sufficient. For trad climbing, consider double ropes or a thicker single rope for durability. Pay attention to rope diameter, length, and UIAA/CE certifications.
Carabiners and Quickdraws: Carabiners come in various shapes and sizes. Choose ones that are appropriate for your style of climbing. Quickdraws are used to connect the rope to the bolts in sport climbing. Look for lightweight, durable options with smooth-clipping gates.
Protection (Trad Climbing): If you're into trad climbing, consider buying passive protection (nuts, hexes) and active protection (cams). Choose a variety of sizes to match different crack widths.
Belay Device: Belay devices are essential for belaying your partner. Look for devices that are user-friendly and suitable for your preferred belay style (auto-locking, tube-style, etc.).
Chalk and Chalk Bag: Chalk helps keep your hands dry. Chalk bags come in various designs and sizes, so choose one that's comfortable to wear and easy to access.
Training Equipment: Depending on your goals, you might want to invest in training tools like fingerboards, campus boards, and hangboards to improve your strength and technique.
Budget: Climbing gear can be expensive, so set a budget and prioritize your purchases based on what's most important for your style of climbing.
Quality and Brand Reputation: Stick to reputable brands known for their quality and safety standards. Quality gear will last longer and provide better performance.
Secondhand Gear: Be cautious when buying used climbing gear. While some gear like carabiners and quickdraws can be safe to buy used, it's generally recommended to buy certain items like harnesses, helmets, and ropes new due to safety concerns.
Remember that climbing gear is an investment in your safety and enjoyment, so take your time to research and choose the gear that suits your needs and preferences best.

GALTx eNews: Safety First As We Spring Forward!
Some of us are old enough to remember checking the batteries in our smoke detectors every spring when we changed our clocks. Modern detectors don't need us to do that, but our hounds still need us to remember to check on few other things at least once a year:
1. Make sure your emergency preparedness plan is still viable and meets all of your pets' needs. As hounds get older, they sometimes become more fearful and going down stairs to a shelter might become harder. For more information about responding to severe weather with your hounds, click here.
2. Your fences just get older as time goes by. Give them a look over to check for weak spots now and get them fixed in advance of bad weather so that they do not blow down. Check the latch on your gate to ensure it is still locking properly. Install something like a carabiner clip to lock the gate and prevent it from blowing open in high winds.
3. Take a look at your hounds’ tags to ensure that they are all still attached securely, legible, and current. If they need replaced, get replacements on order now.
4. Review your contact information with your hounds’ microchip provider to ensure it is current so that, if your hound does get loose, the microchip can help them get home.
5. If you’re a GALT adopter and have moved, be sure we have your current address by emailing it to [email protected]. If we are contacted by someone who has found your dog, we need to be able to find you to help them get home.
6. Bookmark and read through our tip sheet on what to do if your sighthound goes missing. The sooner you get them back, the more likely you are to get them back safely. Save critical time by being prepared in advance.
We know this sounds like a lot of work but taking just a few minutes each spring to check on these things and make a few updates will help keep your hounds safe!

Day 14:
Such a good day!
Didn’t eat breakfast, not too worried because he has been eating his full daily amount he’s just preferring to eat it in the evening. Something to talk with the vet about to see if it’s worth withholding some food in the evening so he’d be hungrier in the morning and regulate his system. Doesn’t bother me if he’d rather one meal a day as long as it’s healthy for him.
Finally built up enough comfort in the basement with the door closed to have the birds out on the top floor again. They really appreciated that access again. Still working on him being alone with the door closed but we at least have a solid start where he’ll happily relax down there, door shut, with Jack. So at least one bird time a day can be fully out in the house again.
Had Yoshi out of the room for almost the whole day and got her kenneled for bird time again, no complaints in exchange for a bunny chew. She really enjoyed having her window spot and being a part of couch TV time again. Still keeping visual barriers in place for now, after the vet visit if he’s cleared, vaccinated and healthy we can work on more visual + closer to the gate things. And as usual no one cared about the other, mostly napped, would perk up if collar sounds were heard but quickly dismissed the sounds and would go back to sleep.
Finished shams last paw, really really sensitive and the base of the nail looks blood red which is just odd to me. Again something to bring up to the vet, at least the nails are short enough now that they should start to feel a bit better.
Got all his bathroom breaks outside! He also whined to communicate he needed to go instead of just vanishing downstairs to go! Progress! Yay!!!
Went on a baby walk again and had Jack disappear for a bit to see if I would be able to walk him alone. He rocked it. Like seriously rocked it. Able to take treats, willing to check in every now and then, even got some recall practice in. Obviously lots of sniffs and focus on the environment, as it should be! Saw some cars, disengaged well + took treats, saw a mailman go to a neighbours house, again disengaged okay and took treats.
Bit more whining than usual coming in from the walk but honestly expected? Walks are fun and exciting and way too short for him right now. No one wants that to end. Once he’s got a clean bill of health we’ll go on more regular long walks.
Getting in the truck! Got both front paws up and taking treats. He did try to just step in to it slowly but the truck is far too steep right now to do that successfully. He was cautious of the narrow entry but willing to try. After watching him launch around the snow mounds I don’t doubt he’s capable of jumping in, it’s just gonna take a few more reps of exposure to see it’s not scary + safe to enter more confidently. Otherwise we are looking to find something that’ll work as a makeshift step. I feel like he would have entered the truck today if he had a step and didn’t have to commit to it quite as intensely.
Cooperative play!!! Got some “bitey face” play with our hands, super gentle, some parts of my arms are a bit more sensitive so I have to learn how to position myself better so he doesn’t grab in a way that’s gonna poke me wrong but it was an excellent session of one on one play. Always cautious with his mouth, always bouncing back and forth on who starts the game, just really really good.
Ordered his licensing finally and I ordered him a biothane lead + long line. I want to use the long line in the field so he can really run (we try to run with him but I ain’t as fast as a dog I’m sorry) but the current long line was with Yoshi in mind. Lightweight clasp, thin lead. So I ordered a stronger line with a locking carabiner clip for him for outdoor use once he’s vet cleared.
Beautiful beautiful day with so many positives!

Notice Chapter 4 Michael x Reader
Requested by @shado-cat
Warnings: BDSM dark theme
Y/N woke up to her phone buzzing it was a message from Michael.
Michael: meet me tonight at my private residence on the property, west end you will find my quarters behind a red door. 8pm on the dot and not a second later.
Y/N: yes Master Langdon
Michael: see you tonight love
***************************************
I arrived at the appointed time. His directions were precise, "Enter the side gate. Follow the brick path around the back deck. Take the cement stairs down to the red door."
I knocked, 'tap-tap-tap, tap-tap,' and looked into the glass circle peep hole so he would know it was me.
The door opened. I entered. Before I looked fully on his face, I removed my shoes and socks as though I were approaching holy ground.
I stood and turned toward him. He's tall. His eyes were about the same level as mine and they shone like two cystal blues set above soft lips-all on a cream-colored satin pillow. He was long and slim; elegantly dressed in a black attire.
He invited me to sit on a settee across from his. He wanted to read my face. I scanned the room. Thick red drapes hung from ceiling to floor on every side. The room exuded old world stateliness. The mood was enhanced by eighteenth-century classical music flowing from speakers placed throughout.
He guided the conversation through my history. What kinds of experiences I'd had and where. What I had learned. What I liked. How Her found me. What I sought. Our eyes were intently fixed on each other's. Trust was building as he drew me into his world.
He excused me to the bathroom, instructing me to meet him naked in the middle of the room.
He was standing there checking me out as I returned. I was again struck by his beauty. He seemed taller now. He placed his hands on my shoulders and turned me toward a curtained hallway that led to the playroom.
The playroom walls were lined with shelves filled with dozens and dozens of pairs of black boots. He had a pair for every mood, every occasion. I also noticed mannequin heads with masks and other paraphernalia. At the far side of the room was the largest mirror I've seen outside a bar. I could see the top of his head over mine in the reflection as we approached it. He stopped me a few steps short of the wall and turned me back toward him and told me to stay there.
He went to the corner and rolled a massage table to the middle of the room. He patted and said, "Lie here on your back."
I lay as instructed. He moved around the room gathering items for our session. I took in the new view while He worked. Directly above me in the ceiling was a stout eyebolt with three heavy-duty screwgate locking carabineers. He grasped my right wrist and buckled on a wide leather cuff. He went counter clockwise around the table cuffing my ankles and other wrist. I was owned.
He took ropes and affixed my wrists to some supports beneath the table. I felt the downward tug first on my right wrist, then on the left. He placed a two-foot wide spreader bar on my ankles. The bar had three eyes, one on either end and one on the middle. He took his time securing the eyes in the ankle cuffs to those on the spreader, using a separate rope for each. He added a third rope for the center eye then he tied the spreader below the table. A final tug and all my extremities were firmly secured. Although I could still lift and rotate my head, I wasn't going anywhere.
"That's good," he said, "now to add some mystery." He slipped a mask over my head leaving my eyes in total darkness. I heard the rattle of a lightweight chain and felt him pinching my right nipple with his thumb and forefinger, getting it taut enough to receive the clamp. He repeated on the left. He tested the grip by pulling up, away from my torso. Satisfied, he playfully tugged in other directions and observed my reactions. He gave a little chuckle when he pulled down and saw my pussy get wet as though connected to my nipples by some internal cord.
He purred and hmmm'd as he explored my body with a variety of teasing light touches interspersed with light slaps and pulls on my chained nipples.
I felt a tickle at the top of my right inner thigh. It traveled down and took a left at the back of my scrotum and continued up along the crease of my left thigh before completing the loop. When he pulled the ends of the lasso closed.
He let go of the string and let his fingertips press in behind my ass crack wiggling in to get my pussy wet their inner nest. When he teased them out far enough he guided the cord back behind with one hand and pulled the loose ends up my belly snug enough to prevent me from moving. I lost track of how many turns he wrapped before tying off the package.
"I think you need some pizzazz. Do you know what that is?" I couldn't even guess. He continued his patter, "It's a good thing you shaved," he said as she applied adhesive contacts on the inside of my thighs just above my vagina. "Do you know what these are?" She applied another adhesive pad below my hips and a fourth on my lower belly just above the top of my vagina as well. "Can you guess what's next?" He said as she clipped on the electrodes. I replied, "I imagine something to do with electricity."
"That's right!" I heard the click on the TENS controller and winced at the charge exciting the most sensitive nerves in my body. "Mmmm. Pizzazz. Do you like that?"
It took a few seconds for me to process the initial, literal shock. I don't think I answered. I do remember consciously slowing my breathing. A stress management trick I first learned in therapy when I was 14.
Apparently, the adhesive pads and wires don't affect access to everything he wanted to do. He fingered me a bit then flicked open some lubricant and poured it down my crack. He rubbed in and out a few times pressing and softening the opening before inserting a finger in my ass. I gasped at the first foray. He withdrew, added more lube and pressed in further, finding my pleasure spot.
He put both hands to work: one massaging my G-spot the other fingering with various grips and pressure. He brought me to the edge several times before deciding to click up the TENS again.
"Poor love. You need a reward." I heard him moving off to my right. My reward arrived with sense of smell and touch simultaneously as his briefs landed on my face.
I inhaled deeply letting his manly scent fill my awareness. I mmmm'd my approval and sensed my pussy get wet in appreciation. He noticed. "Good girl." He said and patted my abdomen.
She moved down the table again. I felt tugging at my feet. He undid the ropes and pushed my feet up toward my butt. He climbed up onto the foot of the table. He threaded the center rope through one of the carabineers and pulled, raising the spreader with my feet off the table. He patted my perineum then continued tying ropes and testing access. Finally satisfied, he said, "That's better."
He lubed a toy and eased it in. Pushing, relaxing, speaking encouragement, "There we go. How are you feeling?"
"That's a lot thicker than your fingers," I replied.
"Uh-huh." he continued pushing until the thickest part cleared the sphincter. With the plug settled, he could concentrate both hands on teasing my pussy, knowing a constant pressure on my ass was enhancing every touch.
He worked on my pussy while she slowly built up the excitement toward orgasm. Stroke upon stroke, squeeze upon squeeze of my pussy and my ass raised the tension coursing through my body. "Red. Red red red," I said trembling. She stopped and held me while my pussy creamed. I expelled a sigh and my whole body shook.
"Ooooh nice. You just had an internal orgasm."
"Ughhhhh," was all I could say. My whole body was engaged in processing the unfamiliar release of tension. He held on through my return to more normal breathing.
He eased herself off the table and eased out the plug. He gave me a few minutes of respite. He kept my attention by softly touching my legs and arms and torso.
I heard the lube again and felt another insertion. "That's a different toy, isn't it?" I said.
"Yes. I like this one because I can rock it while I play." He demonstrated, sending a new sensation to my ass. "You'll like it." He slowly slid his open hand up the inside my pussy fingertips to the heel of his hand while he wiggled the toy on my G-spot. He curled his hand around my pussy and stroked slowly, building intensity. I moaned.
"Good. Don't cum yet. Tell me when you're close." The dual stimulation continued. I felt the orgasm rising. "Stop. I mean, red." He stopped ever so briefly. He sucked in a great breath between his teeth showing his satisfaction. Then he was right back at it. Not close enough to the edge according to her expert eyes.
"Red. Red, red, red," I was desperately close. My pussy was tightening. I was about to explode when he suddenly let go of my pussy. Cum dribbled out. My pussy strained to force out the built up load. No. Ruined.
"Ohhhh. Poor love." He said chuckling as the ooze played itself out. "Ready for more?" She resumed pressing the probe and stroking. Lather, repeat. Ruined again.
He gave me a longer rest after the second interrupted emission. "Let me give you a real orgasm." He stroked my pussy vigorously.
Tied as I was, he would do what he wanted. Nevertheless, I craved it. But I was overstimulated. My pussy was waning and our time was winding down. "It's just not going to happen," I said.
"Too bad," he said as she hopped of the table. he wiped the goo from my belly and removed the TENS leads and patches. He released the nipple clamps and I gasped.
As he was preparing to undo my bindings, I asked, "would you take off the blindfold so I can see how you tied me?"

I have bought a lot of gear the last couple years. Here are my top 9 favorite things I’ve bought in the last couple years. Things I use on almost every adventure and I will continue to support and buy more of in the future. If you have any questions let me know.
MY FAVORITE GEAR OF 2018:
1. Topo Athletic HydroVentures
-probably my favorite purchase this year. These are the shoes I’ve been looking for my entire life. Wide toe area for people like me with a little wider feet. Not a very high arch so they feel normal since I wear Vans the rest of the time. Waterproof! I have hiked and backpacked in rain and snow this year in these. Amazing grip. Ran down trails in the rain and never slipped once. And SUPER lite. Barely feel like you have them on your feet. I may end up buying the TerraVentures(non-waterproof version) soon also.
.
2. Omega Pacific Jake Quick-lock Carabiner.
-I have been using these carabiner for 6 years maybe? I’ve bought 2 quick-locks and a screw gate version. My favorite carabiner I’ve ever used. Easy to open with 1 hand and the gate opens kinda sideways so you can get things in and out easier. It’s 13mm wife so I have no problems valeting or repelling with it. This is a carabiner that I use every single time I climb.
.
3. GSI outdoors Java Press
-if you need coffee like me, this is my pick of the year for a backpacking/camping/at home coffee French press. It weighs 10oz. and holds 30 ounces. I have to drink at least 2 cups of coffee and this is plenty for 4. What I was super happy with was how well it was insulated. I usually have to make coffee and immediately put it in a thermos. This thing kept it hot and I never needed to. Easy to clean. Great filter. A+.
.
4. Snowpeak Titanium Spork.
-I bought this just for fun with my rei dividend. Little did I know how much I’d actually use it. It actually stays in my day backpack wherever I go, whether I’m on tour or at work or mountain biking or wherever. Always have it. Always comes in handy with I’m not at home. Just makes me happy.
.
5. Marmot Tungsten 2P UL tent
-this tent one of my biggest gear purchases and worth every penny. It weighs just over 3lbs and plenty of room for 2 people with with covered areas outside the tent to put shoes or your backpack or whatever. I have spent plenty of rainy and windy nights in this tent over the last month even and it’s a champ. Also with the design the walls of the tent never get wet so you don’t wake up soggy from touching the sides of the tent. Plus the color is cool.
.
6. Osprey Exos 58 backpack
-one of the lightest packs out there(2lbs 5oz) and still super comfy. I’m so glad I got this pack. For one I’m a huge supporter of Osprey and their life guarantees and build quality. Fantastic company. As great as their guarantees are, I’ve never actually had to send a backpack back to them. I’ve have osprey backpacks for 15 years and never had one break so far. The Exos is made for Ultra Light backpacking but I use it for everything. Fantastic for thru hikes, climbing approaches, and take off the lid for smaller day hikes. Comfortable all day.
.
7. Cocoon Mummy Liner
-if you spend any amount of time in a sleeping bag, a liner is key. Honestly I got this because it was the cheapest one at rei. But I’m super happy with it. Awesome micro fiber material feels like my sheets at home and an amazing amount of warmth from them. On hot nights I just lay on top of my sleeping back with this on and on cold nights this added a lot to my 25° sleeping bag. One laundry day just throw it in with your clothes and you have a clean place to sleep each night.
.
8. iPhone 7
-what can I say about smartphones? By far my most used piece of equipment I think. Not that I’m on my phone texting or Snapchating all the time. But having an awesome camera at my disposal all the time and using the maps EVERYWHERE I go. As a photographer iPhones are insane with what they can do and half or more of my pictures are from them. Combine those with the Mountain project and All Trails apps and your start to any adventure is super easy!! I cannot tell you how much Mountain Project saved our butts when climbing since we don’t have guide books. We probably would just never find anything ever. And the iPhone 7 and newer phones are waterproof. Boom. Thank God.
.
9.Columbia Bugasweat Joggers
-I’m a jogger fan through and through. The mixture of comfort and flexibility and looks and the cuffs at your ankles staying out of the way has changed my life. It basically all I wear. Mostly cheaper versions but for backpacking, climbing and all other extreme sports I wanted a step up in quality. This is them. Finally I found the pair of pants I’ve been looking for. Great quality, water resistance, big zippered pockets for handstand and climbing and not losing things and padded knees. It’s Cotton and Polyester so much better than all cotton pants(cotton kills). And all in all, well worth the money. A lot cheaper than a lot of other climbing pants and I think these are better.
