if Bully didn't take place at a boarding school in a tiny little town where there's really no need for a car, Hunter would be the driver friend. he crams everyone into his car and is like "we'll be fine we can all fit". there are ppl sitting on the floor. ppl are sitting on each other's laps. someone's stuck in the trunk. everyone spends the entire ride praying they don't pass by any cops. someone complains abt it and he just starts going on about how much he loves his car and how its not a big deal. its not that tight of a fit. his center console is filled with mixtapes he carefully crafted and probably got 20 viruses downloading the music off limewire. dreaming of the day he can get a cd changer. theres fuzzy dice hanging from his mirror. he has a cd holder hanging from the visor. his keys have way too many keychains and they're so loud. its 12am and him and all his buddies are all crammed in his car in the jack in the box drive thru abt to order the whole ass menu

i always bring up spotify’s lack of lossless streaming as a reason to stop using it and people always respond by saying that most people can’t hear the difference and it always frustrates me because like. i’m not gonna deny that i’m probably more attuned to hearing the difference between lossless and lossy because i took audio engineering classes but it feels like woefully missing the point. it’s not about the streaming quality by itself (barring the fact that while most people can’t hear the difference switching from lossy to lossless, they can hear it switching back from lossless to lossy), it’s about the fact that spotify could be offering an objectively superior product but are simply choosing not to. it’s about the fact that streaming services that have lossless audio are either the same price (deezer) or cheaper (apple music, tidal) than spotify, giving spotify absolutely no excuse to not offer lossless audio. it’s about how the streaming quality setting in spotify is set to low by default and lots of people don’t even know that’s a setting you can change. when you say “people can’t tell the difference anyway” you’re kind of doing spotify’s dirty work for them, which is deliberately not giving your customer base a better product operating on the assumption that the customer doesn’t know there’s better out there. i think it’s shitty as a business practice and also entirely disrespectful to music as an art form

i think one of the worst things about this whole situation for me is the silence. i HATE sitting in silence. but i don't have any way to play music rn aside from my phone, which im trying to conserve battery on in general, which means no music for me.

I think a (potentially) generation defining thing is how you feel about the phasing out of internal optical/DVD/CD (however you say it) readers in laptops.
I do not want to have to buy an extra external device that has to be plugged in. That (in my opinion) is way more inconvenient than a laptop that's heavier.
I have plenty of physical media I still want to enjoy! (I also want to collect more before things disappear.) I already own them!! so, I'm sorry, the only way I'm experiencing it digitally is if I can rip it or if I download it by other means.

I fished in my backpack between my feet and pulled out an MP3 player. I scrolled through the index and pulled up the next chapter in my history textbook, then plugged it into the stereo jack in the dashboard.
Today I started a YA novel from 2014 and learned, after owning my car for an entire decade, that one can in fact play music/audiobooks/etc from one's phone through the car speakers by connecting an auxiliary cord to what not only looks like but is in fact a port for exactly that. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
It is very possible that even our previous cars, made in the 90s, had this feature.
Was I using a Bluetooth connection to use the speakers before now? Of course not, that seems hard to figure out and also unnecessarily battery-draining for the phone.
No, until this point, whenever I wanted to listen to audiobooks from Libby or get voice directions from Google Maps, you guessed it -- I have been simply cranking the volume to max on my phone itself.
