There was a great display of Streptocarpus cultivars (Cape primrose) in an open sided garden building at Gordon Castle, Scotland. This flowering houseplant thrives in partial shade out of direct sunlight with a humid atmosphere and free-draining growing media.

Streptocarpus Cape Primrose propagation by leaf cutting

The cape primrose - I never knew what this was for years until I somehow managed to search for the right terms and find a visual match. This plant came from a cutting and has given of itself to form at least 3-4 new plants. It makes me so happy to see it bloom. I think it may be time to get a bigger pot to put it in.

The flowering houseplant nursery Dibleys put on a stunning display of Streptocarpus (Cape primrose) cultivars at the Royal Horticultural Society Hampton Court Flower Show. Plants need a light position but too much sun burns the leaves and fades the flowers.
