The Fisherman (Yan! Sea god Azul x Fem Reader)

Singing.

It was joked on your small crew that there was probably a siren about. Hitting each other's elbows you all joked and let the subject die since the noise would be silenced as soon as it'd start. 

After all stories were spread around the crab fishing community the Sirens directly served the ancient Sea god that was rumored to be hidden under leagues and leagues of sea under the small cape town.

You’d only laugh nervously at the suggestion, why would the Sea witch send sirens to your ship you worked on anyway.

Dismissing the sound as just someone probably close by pulling a prank on the ship since it was a foggy week over the ocean trying to scare the piss out of everyone that they were fated for misfortune hearing the song.

Foggy as the day had been last night after you all cast the nets alone as everyone went to bed you unfortunately heard what everyone was claiming was a siren’s song.

The damn melody was heard.

Loud.

It was a sea chanty you’d never heard before or even a mainstream song you heard on the radio. The tune was something upbeat and very windy sounding, ethereal in the notes it was playing it could be heard as a hymn, a warning.

You froze as you were about to cast the net. Sirens were only obsessed with leading male sailors to their demise afterall.

No one knew you were a woman, you wanted to avoid the pearl bride selection when you were younger, opting to “drown” and become who you were now when the cursed Brooch was left at your door, wearing stocky clothes and a nightcap all the time in the cold climate that was the Coral sea waters.

Maybe the Siren assumed you were just another perfect victim to lure in the dark murky waves tonight with their good looks and attractive voice if it was real.

Feeling a tinge of adrenaline you dropped the net neglecting your task and rushing under the cabin down below to wake the captain.

The captain, a kind soul only patted your shoulder before shaking his head.

“It must be a lighthouse, boy” he sleepily replied, “Sirens don't exist and neither does the sea giant neither”

He told you that if you desired could retire early for the night saying he’d get one of the older crew mates to hoist the net for the night dismissing you with the flick of a wrist.

Uneasy you believed your captain, going back to the lowest level of the ship was your lone cot to sleep in slipping your boots off.

And of course, as you were drifting to sleep in your work clothes, the melody began.

Right next to your port window.

Your back was to the window, but you didn't need to look to see the monster outside your window, hearing the water sloshing below you knew it was trying to open the window.

Only what creeped you out more than the croaks and chirps it made with a sickly whistle was when you realized whatever it was didn't just slither up the side of the ship.

It had something it was sticking to the tall boat’s side, whether it be arms or appendages, it was huge to be above the surf.

The melody continued as it tapped the industrial-strength glass of your small window.

You eventually heard a frustrated shrill chirp.

Then silence.

Once again you tried your best to fall asleep, not daring to turn around and see if that siren was still looking through the window.

The next morning in a panic you went to look for the captain. Your crewmates had said that someone went overboard last night.

Right after you had been sent to your bed, the man went over.

Everyone was certain he was dead, it was just a matter of waiting for the body to surface and immediately return to port.

Upset, this meant there would be more urgency to return to shore once the fog subsided.

Today everyone took it easy, mostly down in the ship taking care of housekeeping.

You sat at the edge of the railing swinging your heavy tactical pant legs idly, a habit you developed during times like this, looking at the various sea animals that would normally be hidden under the crashing and rough waves.

A lobster roll on the other hand you just weren't looking for anything particular. There was a small pod of dolphins rose from the water beside the ship's bow, their top fins dunking in and out, you knew they wanted a treat.

Grabbing a small piece of fleshy lobster meat, red and glistening in your hand you tossed it down to the small animals. Eagerly they all approached the small piece of meat their happy squeaks resounding in the vacant space of sea around the two of you.

Smiling you threw a bit more of your lobster roll down for the small pod, earning you a happy squeak in return as they flipped in the water.

Taking your eyes off for just a moment to pull off more flesh from the lobster roll.

Dead.

You didn't even hear the sound of them dying, only seeing the new tint of red film coat the dark velvet blue waters everywhere. You saw you saw the glint of something bobbing up and down underneath the eviscerated corpses of the family of Dolphins, something spiny, spidery in appearance under the waves, crystal blue hues belonging to the killer was what stared back at you from the murky water, it’s maw bloodied just as the sirens would do.

You didn't want your lunch anymore.

Tossing the roll down below at the creature you got up slowly backing away from the bow.

Grabbing your crewmates below to show them the carnage they only silently looked at each other. There truly was something, but it still couldn't be confirmed as a Siren.

Even worse as the day went on, no one looking over the bow of the ship, and the body never surfaced once.

Once again, tonight was your duty to fish the net up and cast a new one. Thankfully besides the incident that afternoon, you were relieved you weren't being tormented by the whimsical melody it made, making you feel once again at peace as you went to the device to lower the net down.

It was truly anxious, hearing the chirps and whistles slower than usual as if the thing was trying to converse like people.

You didn't bother once again to look only hosting the net below, maybe if you lowered the net hard enough it would tangle the damn thing and it’d stop terrorizing you.

Fweee fueeee

The sound was below the deck.

 “Go away” you yelled into the darkness, “back to hell with you”

The sound oddly stopped.

Releasing the breath you had held you continued once again your rubber boots squeaking against the hard planks underneath.

The song resumed however, this time a melancholic tone rang from below where you stood.

A sole meaty tentacle rose from over the deck, it was an obsidian and spiky thing, reminding you of a urchin as it laid itself onto the wood.

You screamed, the shrill scream high pitched rang out through the area.

But that didn't alert anyone, you looked around hoping for someone to come up from below the deck as you saw the tentacle in the corner of your eye begin to slither up along with at least three other appendages.

Stomping your boot against the fleshy thing it only twitched before it suctioned itself to your thick boot.

“Help— someone!” you yelled in the direction of the dark hall down below.

Another chirp turned into a trill as the long tendril began to reveal more of itself.

“Boy, what’s wrong” your crewmate yelled from below.

You could only thrash as the suctioned tip of the large tentacle writhed harder at the sound of your crewmate's voice violently trying to make you lose your center of balance and drag you under over the net trough beside you.

“It’s got me!” you gasped aloud, now trying to frantically kick your heavy rubber boot off, “please hurry” you yelled the desperation in your eyes prompting them to sleepily run over and try to free you from the two tentacles that decided to slither up on the deck.

An angry chitter was heard below before your boot was pulled off your wooly sock foot. 

You both watched as your shoe was pulled down into the inky waters below.

Both of you looked over at the ocean for a moment.

Silence once more besides the water occasionally lapping against the bottom of the boat.

“What the hell was that��� they said into the night.

“Most likely whatever took our crewmate,” you said, a chill running down your back.

-

Only 3 days remained before the fog would subside allowing everyone to sail away from this patch of endless fog.

But that meant three days trapped out with that monster in the fog stalking you all for it’s prey.

You left lunch early once again to look out for the fallen crewmate and to just observe the seas for the day.

Sitting on the bow alone once more swinging your feet as you did suddenly you heard a loud splash beside the net trough.

Now normally this was to be met with a shrug since Tuna’s would make that sound if they fell prey to the net on accident but the chirping was followed by the sound.

A shift in weight on the deck was felt.

You turned around

“It” had now beached itself onto the deck. It reminded you of a deep sea gigantic octopi that would occasionally be out in the depths.

But its long ebony and spiny body was met with a human torso connected to the huge mass that was his tentacles.

What was strange wasn't his enchanting facial features but the gold he had on his body, decorated with the gems and coins was all you could observe from.

His hues were the same from the previous day when his mouth was that of an animal killing prey.

Sirens normally were female, he was certainly a he from what you could see on his chest where a golden nautilus shell hung.

“What are you” you unintentionally said aloud.

Of course, the creature only looked into your eyes, seemingly confused about what you were telling it.

Creek chirp

It wobbled towards you slithering across the deck. You tried to run to the other side of the deck, but his tentacles were faster as they pinned you.

Knocking your cap off.

Your hair coming undone now revealing your true identity. Trying to push it off the tentacles only wrapped around you cooing as it prodded your body. Ripping your clothes off as you tried to fight the thick tentacles now leaving painful marks all over your back. 

“Please don't be afraid”

The tentacles picked you up like discarded gum on the ground, wrapping you in the many painful spikes over your body.

It looked at you as it made another tender coo to you.

“It’s me, your husband (Name)” 

It began to edge closer to the edge of the boat, you knew it was about to take you and it over the railing. Looking trying to beg the creature to let you go.

Another cheerful chirp.

“I thought I lost you forever but little did I know you were right above me this whole time”

You only kicked harder against his pulpy tentacles as he let them slither around your body.

"How did you find me" you yelled in defeat, "I threw that damn brooch into the ocean miles away" 

It only chirped once, but the voice in your head didn't say anything. Not like you needed closure anyway, hopeless to the large being as it suffocated you in its tentacles of spikes.

Plunging into the misty ocean, avoiding what was destined to become of you ever since the cursed Brooch was given to you.

Need to talk about my latest SDV farmer

I'm playing a combo of the Dwarven Expansion, Easy Scarp, Better Things, and Cape Stardew. I also added the "raising sea animals" and "legendary fish ponds".

Basically my farmer is an aquatic adventurer named Coiriel. She was an Undine, a water elemental, before she decided to do what her grandpa did and go on land.

To do this, they found the closest thing they could to a sea witch: a man in a starry black suit with skin bluer than the water and thick glasses, as well as a magnificent hat. Coiriel chose their human form to look like him, even if it meant sticking out.

Unfortunately being a human means you need to make a living, which meant a job at Joja corp. Eventually this made him so bored he remembered his grandpa's letter and fled to Stardew Valley. Much better! Living near the riverland, raising his favorite crabs and squid!

(They do not know they are nonbinary yet. Mr. Qi gave them so much gender envy but they still haven't realized it.)

Ocean Animal of the Week.

Merry Christmas.

Also, happy birthday to an important friend of mine.

No, I am not friends with Jesus.

One of my oceanic companions justhappened to be born on Christmas day. I associate them heavily with crabs, so I decided to make their favorite crab the ocean animal of the week!

This beautiful specimen is the Pink Ghost crab. Adorable.

They are often found on the east coast of Africa, specifically from Kenya to the Eastern Cape region.

They follow the behavior patterns of many other crabs. Living on sandy beaches, burrowing in the sand and feeding on smaller creatures.

Ghost crabs as a species are often preyed upon by shorebirds such as seagulls, and raccoons.

In all honesty, there isn't much to say about pink ghost crabs, or ghost crabs in general... but they are very cute.

Other facts:

-There are around 20 species of ghost crab.

-They are reportedly similar to horn-eyed ghost crabs, but their coloring and eye decoration is different.

-Ghost crabs cannot swim.

-They often have to keep their gills wet, but can't remain beneath water for too long.

-Ghost crabs are extremely fast!

-Their square bodies can grow up to around 3 inches.

I have an extra animal prepared for this week, because I do what I want.

Also, I missed last week, so consider this something to make up for it.

Lionfish!

I totally did not choose this animal because their stripes reminded me of candy canes and fit the holiday spirit that I try to indulge in. Do not be ridiculous.

Lionfish are found in the Indian ocean and Western Pacific ocean, specifically in reefs (coral and mesophotic), lagoons and rocky subtrates.

They mainly prey on smaller creatures, such as small fish, invertebrates and mollusks. They have swim bladder muscles that allow them to have complete control over their placement in water, and edit their center of gravity in order to better capture their food.

They don't have many natural predators, but do engage in cannibalism. Their lack of predators is most likely due to their spines, which are known to be very dangerous.

Other facts:

-They are reportedly aggressive and hostile.

-There are many different species of lionfish, all falling under the genus of "Pterois".

-Their bright coloring acts as a warning. Most bright patterns in nature are meant as warnings.

-They are actually known to be invasive. They act as a threat to reef systems and their natural order.

-There are efforts being made to stop their invasion and preserve the ecosystems that they damage.

-If prepared correctly, they can be consumed by humans.

Both of these species are very different in nature, but I still consider them to be marvelous. Even if lionfish are invasive, they still hold a special place in my heart.

Still finalising design for this guy (do you know how hard it is to come up with a suitably piratical outfit that works with arm-mounted wings? My dude wears a lot of halternecks), but here's what I got:

He's about 5'9, 5'10 maybe, but it can be hard to tell because he tends to wear boots with heavy soles that make him look taller (this is absolutely a vanity thing). His skin is greyish with scaled patches more or less at random — there are some creeping up his right cheek, a patch down his left forearm, a lot across upper back and shoulders, etc. His hair is deep green and looks rather seaweedy in certain lights, and he generally wears it loose to his shoulders or back in a knot. His eyes are large, very round and extremely blue — I could describe further or you could just google "squid eyes" because. He's got squid eyes. They make the rest of his face look smaller in comparison and give his cheekbones an odd angle, but he has a full mouth and wide nose that mostly balance. He's rather pretty if you get past the whole fish thing.

He has short fingers and quite a lot of muscle in his arms, which is probably down to the huge manta-ray fins that attach from partway down his forearms right up his arms and onto his back. They're a darker grey than the rest of his skin and shade to black at the tips, although spattered with flecks of white. From a distance they might look like a cloak, but not for long. He can't properly fly with them but he can certainly glide.

He favours flowing clothes, generally a close-fitting halter top with a short poncho or shoulder cape and baggy pants tucked into his boots and held up with a sash. He wears a heavy coral choker, but between his hair and clothes it's hard to tell whether it's a plain necklace or whether it's fastened into his skin somehow. (It totally is.)

🐟 Winx Club AU: Arethusa, Witch of the Seabed 🐟

Now for the main Mareasian witch of the AU, we have Arethusa! Like explained on Soleil's post, this is my take on a higher-level witch form(whatever that would be, exactly), that is more elegant and regal in style. This basically means longer dresses, heels, capes, crowns, and just generally a little more of a fancy witch vibe. Her magic allows her to control fish and other sea creatures to her whim, and with her being a mermaid, her mermaid abilities aid her a lot in her witch magic and she had an easier time rising through the ranks and achieved her highest witch form at an earlier age than most. I hope you enjoy!

Some extra notes about her witch form:

The silhouette of the dress would be less like a ball gown and fit a little closer to her body, sleeves the same color as the neckline would be attached and turn into a point on the back of her hands, and both the ribbons would be more jagged and shaped to almost resemble coral or shells more. Some of her hair would be braided and pinned back with the rest of her hair hanging down. Her makeup consists of teal and blue eyeshadow made to resemble ocean waves, lighter blue eyeliner, teal lipstick, and dark blue nails with ocean designs.
