Chapter 2 of the King 2019
In the apartment, Hal and Y/n are making love to one another.Â
Y/n: Henry we need to talk
Hal: why must we talk when I'm show you my love
Y/n: You should go see your father.
Hal Kiss y/n try to stop her from talking.
Hal: do not mention that man in our house
Y/n: Henry I know that you do not have a good relationship with him but he is your father. Maybe he is summoning you to apologize.
Hal: I will not go to that horrible place and we are not to speak of this again. Do you understand?
Hal is snoring, he is sleeping naked on top of Y/n their legs are intertwined with his face on her bare chest. Falstaff enters the couple's home. He opens the curtain, stirring the Y/n. Hal doesnât stir.Â
Y/n: it is too early for your foolishness. Falstaff go home.Â
Falstaff: He needs to go see his father.Â
Y/n: I have Falstaff, he will not listen to me.
Falstaff: A Man who does not listen to his wife is asking for death.Â
Y/n gets up and moves Hal's body off of her, She gives Hal a quick kiss. Looking at him with so much love and affectionÂ
Y/n(whispers to Hal); My heart you need to wake up. (to Falstass) all go make breakfast.Â
Falstaff Iâm sorry to interrupt your slumber.Â
HAL What are you doing?
Hal speaks muffled, groggy, face smudged into the pillow.
Falstaff: Visit with your father.
Hal: Go away.Â
Falstaff: If your father is indeed enough gravely ill to request your presence, then you must visit with him - it should be better to regret having done so than it would to have not. No matter your feelings for him. If your father is ill, you must visit with him. And - let me add - I say it not out of concern for our kingâs well-being, more for fear of the drunken soak to which you be likely to succumb should you fail to heed his call and he were to die without you having squared your ledger... I fear it would be soak enough to put even me to shame. If not for yourself then for Y/n,Â
Hal stares at Falstaff, lucid and penetrating, with his one eye not smudged into the pillow. Falstaff watches Hal a moment.Â
Falstaff: Do it. If nothing else I ever suggest.Â
Falstaff rises and exits. Y/n brings the cup of coffee as Hal sits up in bed, Y/n sits next to him and brings the cup to his lips.Â
Hal: get dressed we are going to see that KingÂ
Hal and Y/n are at the palace gates. Without exchange with the guards, they are granted entry. All watch them with cold interest if not disdain. They walk the hall under escort. As Hal approaches the antechamber he crosses paths with Grey and Cambridge on their way into the great hall. Grey eyes him with contempt. Cambridge looks at him cautiously, searching.Â
King Henry is in his chair, visibly weak, presiding over a sitting of parliament. The full court plus The Archbishop of Canterbury and clerical attendants are there. Thomas Of Lancaster, the Kingâs 18-year-old son, Halâs younger brother, is there too. The Archbishop is addressing the king. Heâs arrogant but nervous, he speaks with a lisp.
Servant: Henry, Prince of Wales. And His wife Y/n Princess of Wales.Â
Henry IV: My son. Come to me.Â
The Archbishop appears put out. He regards Hal with derision and Y/n with disgust. Hal crosses the room with his arm around Y/n holding her like she was life. They bow before Halâs father, taking in his frailty. The King takes in his sonâs disheveledness.Â
Henry IV: Come closer. They take a step closer.Â
Henry IV: I feel my life is nearing its natural end and yet still even I must appear of ruder health than you.Â
Hal doesnât respond. He continues looking his father in the eye. While Y/n looks to the ground filled with uneasyÂ
Henry IV: The time has come for me to consider the issue of my succession. You will not be king.
Hal remains fixed. A barely concealed smirk on the face of Grey. Â
Henry IV: While you are my eldest son, for reasons that must be evident to you, that are on display for all here to see and smell, and due to your commoner wife, you will not inherit this crown.Â
Hal: Nor have I sought it.Â
Henry IV: That privilege and responsibility will instead fall to your brother Thomas.Â
Thomas straightens, postures regally. It doesnât suit him.Â
Henry IV: As you may be aware - to whatever degree you are aware of the world outside your own - I will assume you are aware that the kingdom is at war with itself. Matters as grave as these require leadership committed to their resolution and you - of this I am sure - can not provide that commitment. Thomas, however, can. He is soft, but he is eager and he will lead my army against the newly treasonous Percy Hotspur.Â
Hal looks at Thomas who has trouble meeting Halâs eyes.Â
Henty IV: I will assume this news comes to you as neither a surprise nor disappointment. I do however see it as my duty as King and as a father to say it to you directly.Â
Hal walks to Thomas dragging along Y/n.Â
Thomas raises his head and holds Halâs eyes.Â
Hal: How do you feel, brother?Â
Thomas: Strong.Â
Hal: When do you fight?Â
Thomas: I set off tomorrow. We fight by weekâs end.Â
Hal: You need not fight. These feuds need not be yours.Â
Hal takes Thomasâs face in his hand. Thomas leans his head away and tries to stare at Hal. He is young and afraid.Â
Henry IV: I have said what you were summonsed to hear. Leave us now.Â
Hal turns to his father, one last cold look, then leaves. Take his wife along with him.

The Trancy Triples as older brothers with a human girl.
(Pretend Hannahâs you! Not proof read)
You were the young masterâs cousin coming from the city when you first meet them. They we assigned to follow and assist you as you made your way about the manor. Alois is was loud selfish boy and hard to live with and you found comfort and their presence. Even more when Alois was having one of his fits and you stood in the corner with them and even joined in on the whispering the much enjoyed.
Claude stared at you through his lashes and you shiver and quickly turned around and walked away from them. You had come down from breakfast when you said blood on the floor and a Miss Hannah missing an eye. You rushed down and as one of the boys picked her off the floor and the others cleaned the floor. You brushed her hair away and ripped small piece of your skirt and wrapped it around her eyes.
âOh dear cousin! Have you come down for breakfast?â Alois asked while Claude cleaned his to fingers. You looked as the red blood staining on your make shift eye patch and sigh. âIâm not hungryâ
After that you did your best to avoid Alois and Claude by all means. The boys started bring dinner to your room and even staying in there while you ate. That turned into playing games while gossiping about Claude. The did your hair and you let them play with your makeup while using you as a canvas. She laughed on the bed together and Alois hated it.
One day you were in the garden when you saw the boys picking flowers for Aloisâs latest waste of time, a butterfly. âWhat hideous flowersâ you said coming up behind them. âRoses, so overused. No special value anymoreâ you said. She turned around the garden and clapped your hands together. You came back with Marigolds and placed them and the triplets hair. âMuch better. For my favorite brothers.â She said while their arms formed a protective shield around you. âMy big brothers.â You said. Their little sister, their harmless innocent little sister.
Suddenly their eyes glowed pink. No one while ever touch their perfect loving little sister. Theyâd loose hands to touch them with.
You stood and they did with you before lifting their arms and letting you out. The boys nodded to each other before turning to you. âGoodbye little sister.â They said as you waved. âBye big brothers!â
After that everything changed. You started finding gifts all over your room. You started acting like the triplets two.
âThe master clearly mental.â Said timber
âWhy does he insist we speak up.â Saids Canterbury
âItâs foolish.â Saids Thompson
âUtterly ridiculousâ she said
So in sync.
You started matching your dress with their brown and black vests. You put plum purple ribbons in your hair to match them. Alois didnât like that more.
He threw to the floor and she screamed. âIâm your family! Not those useless three.â You cried for hours on the floor just like that while the boys stood in the corner their hands in fists
That..BRAT. THEIR FUCKING LITTLE SIDTER?! THEY OUTTA KILL HIM AND GIVE YOU HIS HEAD AS A GIFT!
They carried you of to your room and started to back your bags.
âBrother what are you doing?â You whispered into the night as Timber dug through your closet for some reasonable clothes. âWeâre talking you away. Weâll all live together. No more of thisâ He said and he siloed her feet into steel toed boots.
You smiled. âA cottage in the woods. With a garden.â You said smiled and the smiled back. âWhat ever are little sister wants. Sheâs two cute to refuse.â They said. Thompson cracked open the window when I knock sounded at the door. It was Hannah.
âWhere are you four doing?â
âWeâre leaving.â Said Canterbury
âWe are not contractually obligated to by here and our sister needs to leave.â
âSheâs not your sister Canter. Sheâs a human.â
She boys glared at Hannah with sighs disgust which was shocking considering how much love they showed to her.
â yn your cousin loves you. Dont waste that.â
She shook her hand. âDonât lie Hannah. He only loves himself.â
Hannah scoffed and turned out the door. Timber lifted you up in his arms and you all ran into the cold bitter night. But it was warm and sweet for your beloved brothers were there to hold you.
âThank you brothers.â
âAnything for you our little Marigold. Thereâs not line i would not crossâ said Timber.
âNo sea I wouldnât swim.â Said Thompson
âNot a single land I wouldnât conquer.â Said Canterbury
âFor our little Goldie.â The said In unison.
(I hope you liked this story!)

MARGATE
We decided to head over to somewhere new for our anniversary weekend this year and so we did, right up to Margate. A little coastal town in the heart of Canterbury. It had its charm and coziness and though mostly enjoyed during the warmer season, I thought a visit in winter was perfect. I could imagine the town being way too busy during the summer that the experience may not be the same.
We stayed at Margate House Hotel - a small boutique hotel, located in a residential hub of the town. Hotel was a cozy space that had a beautiful modern English interior. We got to enjoy our breakfast in bed the next day which made the experience even better (I just love these things).
I was also so impressed with the culinary scene in Margate - there were a lot of cuisine options to choose from and independent local restaurants with passionate stories to share.
Places we tried:
Forts - A neighbourhood brunch and coffee spot and both hit the spot. We shared a sandwich and a salad and I remember the portions were very generous.
Angela's - Absolutely loved Angela's. A small seafood restaurant in the city centre serving local seafood delicacy from its simple, straight to the point menu. Each dish was an experience and we didn't want this dinner to end. Even their roast potatoes were crisped to perfection.
Fort Road Hotel - Another cozy hotel with town's ocean view. We had our eyes set on coming here post dinner for a little down time and we sure did. We shared a burnt lemon meringue pie for dessert and we took our time to enjoy this by the fire place.
The Dalby Cafe - A breakfast diner spot we stumbled upon after checking out from the hotel. A simple diner menu with big breakfast and burger options to choose from.
Oast Coffee - Came here for a coffee to go and just enjoyed watching the locals do what they do while we were waiting for our drinks.
Peter's Fish & Chips - A Fish & Chips spot in the middle of the town. The perfect ending to the trip!
Because we went in the midst of winter, I just think of Margate being all cute and cozy. I know it is popular over the summer and crowd would come from everywhere to enjoy the summer breeze and fun but I do hear that because of that places and hotels get booked up really fast!

With all that said and done, let's go check on Charles!!
We find our friend sleeping on a really bed for the first time in forever, resting on his side, the one where he got grazed not the one with broken ribs and gash.
We can finally tell it's morning, too, because the sun is up, the birds are singing, and there's the rustling of trees outside as well.
Just as he starts to get a little fitful, hand reaches out to ruffle Charles's hair. He doesn't know who it is, exactly, but when he thinks he sees Henry, he wakes up INSTANTLY out of sheer panic, jolting off his side to sit up and back away as much as he can.
SYKE!
It's just Galeforce, who sits in a chair and holds up his hands. "Easy, son. Just me. You're alright."
Charles looks around and realizes where they are:
A log cabin in the woods(and not the murder-y kind either) that's cozy AF and is close to a river. There are glass windows, but they're not huge, everything has a very woods-punk to it, like antler lamps a few tapestries, and other stuff like that.
"Where are we?"
"Out of the city. It's better you stay low for a little while, until we know you're safe."
Charles relaxes and rubs his ear, which is bandaged; he has his ear muffs, but they're resting on the bedside table.
"How... How long was I out for?"
"Since we got you out. About two days. Here," Galeforce says as he passes a plate to Charles, as well as some ADD medicine(Turns out Galeforce is a good dad and stays up to date on what Charles needs.)"You look like you could use these."
Charles smiles and accepts his plate, eggs, sausage, and bacon(PROTEIN GAINS!!), and the medicine. "Thanks."
Charles indeed starts eating, and takes his meds, and it gives Galeforce a clear view of Charles's arms, wrists, and other injuries(he's wearing a thin-ish t-shirt), including some burns on his wrists from where he was electrocuted.
He also sees Charles tense up and freeze as he cuts up some eggs. It's only for a second, but Galeforce still catches it.
"Charelie, what'd they do to you?"
Charles is silent for a second before continuing to eat some breakfast. "A lot," he replies under his breath after eating.
"I'm sorry, General."
Galeforce gives Charles a confused look before Charles continues.
"He got the sapphire and the Captain got injured. And-"
Galeforce sets a hand on Charles's shoulder, now giving him a small smile.
"Canterbury's fine, just like everyone else. The sapphire's far away from here. Shipped it off a month ago. Trust me, Henry would have to be out of his mind to try getting it back."
Charles is so surprised to hear this, exhaling shakily, tears in his eyes.
Galeforce's smile remains as he pulls Charles close until the two are hugging, Charles semi-relaxing in the contact.
But there's still one thing on Charles's mind.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
The two pull away, that smile on Galeforce's face now replaced with confusion. "Tell you what?"
Charles has a quick moment of, 'Do I really wnat to do this?' before remembering Henry's smug face and clenching a fist.
"My parents. Why didn't you tell me about them?"
Galeforce pulls Charles close again, but they don't hug this time.
"They didn't get a chance to. Never said I could either," Galeforce explains. "Regardless, Charlie, they loved you more than they loved each other. Hell, they loved you more than me."
Charles stares at Galeforce with wide eyes, on the virge of tears.
"Trust me, son. I would've told you, even if they didn't want me to."
"When?"
Galeforce shrugs and gives a slight chuckle. "Whenever you asked. For the youngest pilot, you're a little..."
Galeforce trails off and gives a 50/50 sigm with his hand, which Charles straightens at.
"Hey!" Charles half-laughs.
Galefirce laughs with him before sighing. "Regardless, once all this is over, I'll tell you whatever you want to know, alright?"
The two hug again for real this time, Galeforce glad to have his son home and Charles glad to be home, relaxing fully now that he's back.
Well, at least until we cut to the orbital station.
Henry is still pissed at the fact that not only did they get duped, but now Charles is somewhere back on Earth.
He knows Charles probably isn't at his house, because Henry has the file that shows his address, at the base, or at The Wall, considering what happened at both locations.
He contemplates it all while holding the bottle of pills he'd taken from Charles so long ago before shouting and throwing the bottle at the cork board.
Oh, yeah, and the file was updated in 2017, and it's 2020 now, in our time-line.
So, yeah, Henry's a little pissed off at the moment, and the glass sapphire prank from the government did not make it any better.
Regardless, Henry groans and plops down in his chair, running a hand through his hair.
He reads through Charles's file again, this time looking for Charles's phone number again, trying to find a way to contact Charles again, find and bring him back by whatever means necessary.
Best way to do that is by going to Charles's home address, but that might be a trap, maybe go to the base, but, again, it might be a trap, so now Henry's caught in a spiral.
He rests his head against his arms, groaning again.
Doesn't know how(yet), but he's going to find Charles.
That's when he gets an idea and remembers a gold mine that just finished mining and putting away some gold.
BACK TO CHARLES!
It's been a couple days now and he's having a lovely time at the cabin, sitting on the porch, which has a top on it to block the sun, and drinking some tea, enjoying the wind, water, sun, and everything he's missed while captuve in the orbital station.
That's when he hears something and races inside, pulling his tea in, as well.
Charles ducks behind the island counter and grabs for a gun under the table, sneaking toward the door and hiding behind the wall.
The door opens and someone walks in, loudly, at first, before slowing down, creeping as well, with two other footsteps following.
Charles swings out, ready to shoot, but is glomped by Calvin and Konrad, who could not care less he was about to shoot them.
"Charles! You're back!"
"We thought you died!"
"He didn't die. Don't be stupid," Calvin snarks at Konrad.
"I know he didn't, but you never know!"
"Alright, you two," Rupert sighs. "Let him breathe for a second."
The twins reluctantly let Charles go and Charles sets his gun down as his gaze good to Rupert, who smirks and holds his arms open.
"What? Forgot your best friend?"
Charles gasps as his eyes widen.
From his perspective Rupert turns into Henry, who lowers his arms to extend a hand to Charles.
Charles backs away from him, muttering, "No. Not here. How did you get here?"
"Charles?"
Calvin puts a hand on Charles's shoulder and Charles jumps out of his skin, snapping back into reality.
Both twins look very confused, but Rupert's confusion turns into solemn understanding and then to barely contained anger.
"They really messed you up out there, didn't they?"
Charles tries to form words, stammering as he turns to the twins and Rupert, but Rupert holds his shoulders.
"Don't worry. You're staying on Earth, from now on."
Charles gulps and nods. "Yeah." That's when Charles takes a look at the twins and Rupert. "What... are you guys doing here, anyway?"
Calvin and Konrad exchange a small smile and pull Charles inside by the hand, not the wrist because Galeforce gave them a heads up.
"Day off! We're babysitting you, for a little while."
Before Charles can fully protest, Rupert cheekily ruffles his hair.
"General's orders, Charlie. Besides, you need to tell us how you got this place, because we got lost the times looking for it."
All three stop their toying around when Charles's shoulders start shaking and his breathing becomes uneven.
"Charles?"
Charles looks up at all three of them, smiling as he cries. "S-sorry. I guess... I really missed you guys."
The twins smile back and Rupert sl8ngs an arm over Charles's shoulders.
"Dammit, don't get me crying, too."
All four walk further inside, Charles going back to lock the door.
That's when he notices the pocket of his coat, the one he'd been captured in, and digs inside it, blood going frigid at what he finds.
There are a bunch of pictures held together by a paperclip, all that are from a security camera in Charles's cell, one of a few. There's a few of Charles sleeping in his restraints, some of him sitting on the floor and staring out the window, some of him right when he's been punched and kicked, electrocuted, wearing the suit from dinner, and, most horrifying, Henry holding and kissing him, even posing with Charles while he's asleep gagged with the duct tape.
Charles's hands tremble as he flips through them, completely unable to breathe.
When did he take these!?
"Yo! Charlie! You coming or what!?" Konrad calls.
Charles quickly hides the pictures away in his pants pocket and rejoins them, pale and trying to hold it together.
Thankfully, Rupert is the one who notices first.
"You alright? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Charles shakes his head and nods. "Yeah, I... I'm fine."
Silly, Charles. Rupert can tell when he's lying, but won't push him; goodness knows Eupert and the twins have done that enough.
"Relax," Calvin says. "They're not goning to come here. Heard there was a raid going on at some mine a state over."
"Yeah, and if we had a hard time coming here, the toppats might, too," Konrad says as he tries to figure out the coffee machine.
I can think of a few things, Charles thinks as he helps out Konrad.
Good thing Charles is this on edge because we cut to Charles's house as the door opens, the lock having been picked open.
Henry walks inside, alone, and quickly takes his shoes off to hide any evidence he was inside as he looks around.
He moves very carefully, noting how everything is decently organized, not meticulous, but everything is where it should be.
Henry smirks at all of it, but spots the plants Charles has around, both wire and real, said real ones being a little droopy and sad.
He quickly picks up a small pitcher and gives the plants a drink, because he's a nice friend(NOT!!!).
He then continues exploring, checking out the bathroom, the laundry room, and even Charles's room, which he's much more 'thorough' with.
And by thorough, I mean he inspects the bed, the closet and all that freaky stalker stuff that just screams, "WE'RE NOT DEALING WITH GOOD GUY HENRY! THAT'S FOR NEXT TIME!"
Regardless, Henry lies down on Charles's bed, enjoying the scent of Charles(because it's freaky) when a phone rings, one of those wall house phones that connects to everything amd Henry immediately gets up to check it out.
Turns out someone's calling to check on Charles, who is not home at the moment.
Thinking quickly, Henry pickup the phone and punches in a number.
We return to Charles as he sits carefully on the couch with Rupert and the twins as they watch a comedy.
The phone rings and Charles jumps to answer it. "Hello?"
When there's no response, Charles gulps.
"Who is this?"
"Nice to hear from you, Charles. Miss me?"
Charles is dead silent as his eyes go wide as saucers.
He's desperately hoping that what he's hearing is just his mind playing tricks on him, maybe just his mind attacking him while he's listening to someone else, but Henry clears that right up:
"Charles? Can you hear me? Did you gwt the pictures I sent you?"
Charles instantly hangs up the phone, turns it off, and backs away, falling down as it very quickly becomes hard to breathe and he starts hyperventilating.
Thank goodness the twins and Rupert hear this and rush over to him.
"Charles? Hey, take a breath. You're alright," Calvin tries not to yell.
Charles pushes them back and pushes himself against a cabinet that's close to the floor, curling into himself as he holds onto his hair.
"I can't. No. No, no, no, no, no, I can't! I can't go back there! I can't! I can't! I can't! I can't!"
"What do you mean?" Rupert asks. "What's wrong?"
Charles takes a breath and gulps before speaking again. "He knows. He-he knows I'm here! He's going to take me back! He-he'll bring me back, I know he will!" Charles holds his head against his knees and groans loudly. "Why didn't I just shoot him!? I should've shot him, then none of this would've happened! Why didn't I just-"
Rupert holds Charles's shoulders and lightly taps on his shoulders to get his attention. "Charles? Hey, come on, look at me."
Charles's breath hitches before he turns his gaze to Rupert, and gives him a clear view of just how messed up Charles really is after this whole ordeal.
Calvin and Konrad, however, figure out what's up.
"Henry's here? Like, on Earth? Right now?"
Charles nods.
"But isn't the clan heading for the gold mine? That's where... we're waiting for them."
Charles's eyes dart from the twins to Rupert.
"He knows," Charles murmurs to himself. "He knows where-"
"Easy," Rupert says. "You're not going to be alone this time."
Charles nods again and Rupert helps him to his feet.
Charles, however, is wearing his thinking cap.
If Henry wants Charles, so be it.
CUT TO THE MINE!
The Toppats are on their way to get themselves some gold, led by Ellie, but are ambushed by the Government, and a very proud Galeforce.
"Evening, Ellie."
Ellie groans and holds her hands up, gesturing for the rest to do the same.
"You've got us, General. Well done. You arrested a small group of the Toppat Clan."
There's something very off about Ellie's words, and Galeforce catches it instantly, even as Ellie is put in cuffs and pulled away.
"Funny how Henry isn't here. Wonder where he went?" Ellie calls as she's hauled away.
Galeforce watches the Toppat members get put in a truck that is going to be sent to The Wall.
That's when it clicks, and we cut back to Charles, who's tense and trying to sit still until he stands up.
"Where you going?" Rupert asks, ever the lovely best friend.
"Just getting some water, don't worry," Charles replies with a smile.
Rupert eyes him before turnung back to the movie they're watching.
Charles takes this opportunity to pick up his phone and walk outside, dialing the number Henry used to call him with; the creep is probably still at his house.
Good thing I bring up Henry, because he is indeed resting on the couch as the phone rings.
He gets up and answers the phone, smirking at seeing Charles's number.
"You called?"
Charles gulps and clears his throat.
"What... Where do you want to meet?"
Henry's smirk widens. "I knew you missed me."

Canterbury - Dover
Friday 13 June 1834
7 55/..
10 25/..
A kiss last night fine morning Fahrenheit 61Âș at 8ÂŒ - breakfast at 9ÂŒ - 10ÂŒ - Out at 11ÂŒ - Âœ h[ou]r at the cathedral â all new-done-up, white and clean â Crypt not to be seen full of stone from France for the new west tower â the cathedral all built of stone from Caen in Normandy âÂ
Source en.wikipedia.org
The tombs of Edward the black prince and Henry lV the government some time ago promised to repair, as all the private tombs are undergoing repair by subscription - The choir looks light and white and cold, the old oak wainscotting and tabernacle work being all taken away, and merely the stone work screen (small gothic arches glazed) remaining âÂ
The old altar screen is also removed and replaced by a stone one of handsome gothic work, but unfortunately not straight-topped and consequently looking ill and out of keeping with all around â it rises in steps from the ends to the centre, and is a sad disgrace to the taste of Mr Austin (I think the man said), the architect â all strangers observe and abuse it; and everybody sees the error now it is too late âÂ
Sauntered about the City â then to the John Dean walk or Dunge hill, or mound or tumulus thrown up by the Danes, just within the old fortification wall of the city â there is now a winding quickwood fenced-off walk winding to the top (480ft high) of the tumulus on which is erected a column commemorating MrâŠâŠâŠ.. under whose mayoralty and chiefly at whose expense the walks seem to have been laid out, and recording that they are now made over to the public the corporation having alloted ÂŁ60 per annum to keep them up â they cover about 6 acres â The walk (shaded with limes) is 1130ft long and 13 ft broad â the terrace is 1840 ft long by 12 wide -
Canterbury is a nice clean looking town, with good shops; and the Fountain is an excellent Inn â Sauntered to the remains of the old castle â merely part of the dungeon keep remaining, now a coal-magazine âÂ
Home at 1 10/.. â tired â somehow I do not get up the strength â lay on the sofa till off from Canterbury at 2 5/.. and alighted at the Ship Inn Dover (now Worthington, who succeeded Charles Wright about 4 months ago)Â
Source Dover-Kent.com
At 4ÂŒ - dressed or rather washed hands etc wrote the above of today â rain more or less almost all the way from Canterbury and rainy afternoon and evening â Dinner at 6ÂŒ in an hour â
Wrote and sent at 9Â 3 pages to my aunt Shibden â account of our arrival â Sarah to bottle the cowslip wine immediately - Miss Walker will write to her aunt from Paris â no letters to be sent to her but those from her sister or from Washington and none to me but from Washington or Mr Parker and all Miss Walkerâs too to be directed to me at NÂș 27 Rue St Victor â till I give my aunt another address â M Audoin will forward the letters from Rue St Victor - Will write to my aunt as soon as we have fixed the day for leaving Paris and can give her another address â
Tea at 9 in Âœ hour â then went to bed â fine day till after 2 pm afterwards rainy, more or less, afternoon or evening â Fahrenheit 65Âș now at 10 pm â
