Good night, world.

PREMISE: [Name] [last name] was just an ordinary person. Nothing special nor had any real talent. The only talent they had was in PLANET. A virtual world where people like them go to escape reality.

But what if they met someone in PLANET, who believes the world is a shitty of shittest place. Or should I say, a childhood friend they didn't even knew they were talking to.

"Hey, [Name]! Wanna hang out after school?" A group of co-workers called out towards to you as today's meeting have just ended. "No thanks, I have some things to do." You apologized with a nervous smile. This disappoints the group before they say their farewells and left.

"I have something, way more important..."

You walked back home.

"This world..."

You entered your house.

"It's nothing but of boring people..."

You get to your room, setting down your bag before sitting in your chair. The only light source in the room was the computer.

"So, that's why..."

You grabbed your headset and placed it on your head, starting it.

"'PLANET' Is my only escape."

"Ichi!"

Your lively and bright character calls out, running towards a short man with a dark red hat and slanted down eyes. "Ah, hey [User]! Long time no see! What's been keeping ya?" Ichi greets, with the smile that always makes you swoon.

"Ah, y'know. Work and stuff! Nothing important!" You laughed nervously. "And guessing by the way you look. Wanna raid some dungeons?"

"You know it! I need to blow off some steam!" Ichi huffed, quickly summoning his sword. "C'mon, I wanna make sure all those monsters are killed!"

"Gotcha!" You smiled, the two of you running towards the direction of a nearby dungeon.

After getting some loot and getting lots of EXPS. There was awkward silence that fell upon the two of you.

Quiet.

Quiet

And quiet.

Then Ichi spoke.

"Say, what are you like irl?"

Your avatar stiffen. Taken aback from the question. "Ah... what do you mean?"

"Like, what do you do... on a regular basis?" Ichi explains in more detail as his gaze trailed towards your form. "Like. Anything interesting or something."

You were silent.

You didn't even utter a word before suddenly your logout plush appears in your place.

Ichi eyes widen before he starts hitting himself. "Shitshitshitshit! I messed up for shit!"

You placed down your headset on the table. A blank and dead expression was written all over your face before you let out a exasperated sigh.

"When did something interesting even happen to me...."

Your mind wanders through your memories, trying to recollect anything exciting or something that can make you even slightly interesting.

"Ah...."

Then you remembered.

Taichirō Arima.

You're childhood best friend.

And...

Your first love.

You remember back in those days, the world around didn't seem to matter. All that matter was Taichirō was there with you.

You had a big time crush on him ever since pre-school, but ever since his... sister passing, he started distancing himself and shutting everyone. You haven't seen him in a long time.

But, how would you even bring this up Ichi?! He probably doesn't even want to hear you rambling about your ex-childhood crush! That's boring.

You lay your head against the wooden table. A frown on your lips as you were ultimately fighting with yourself if you should log back in and tell Ichi either way.

....

"I'm gonna take a break...."

Who knew you're life and everyone else's was going to take a turn.

It's been almost a month since the pandemic started, monsters from PLANET roaming around, looking for their next meal. But fortunately, most of humankind have adapt to them started killing them before they could get kill.

But bad side was that most have lost their homes, now they're seeking refuge in a safety shelters.

"Ah... this is so..." You let out a sigh after sticking your axe into one the monsters that were trying to kill you. Your stats have raised up, but your mood certainly didn't.

You quickly put down your axe and start looking through the old house, in hopes to find some kind of food or necessities in the old broken down house.

Then you came across a game....

It was a board game, this quickly catches your attention as you reached out and picked it up.

"I remember...." you smiled to yourself as a old memory comes flying back.

"Wahh! How come you're so good at this Taichirō!" Younger you cried out as the boy in front of you grinned.

"Because, I've been mastering this game for months! No one can get to my level, not even you!" Young Taichirō said, triumphly.

You pouted before you quickly rolled up you sleeves. "One more game! This time, you'll see!"

"Fine! But I'll still beat you!" Taichirō exclaims as the two of you played again.

You laughed and had fun...

You make your way back to the safety shelter in Wakagi. You walk towards the guards and show your ID before being let in.

As you walk back to your small space, you notice a young high schooler who looked quite familiar.

Wait...

Is that Taichirō's young brother? What was his name.... Asuma?

How come you're just notcing this now? Well, maybe you kept your head low or probably don't pay attention to the environment as much...

You whipped your head the other way, not wanting to be caught gawking. If Taichirō's brother was here.... than that means-

Your heart start beating faster, you lips formed a thin line as you clenched your heart. "No! I can't-" You thought to yourself. "-This isn't even the right time! Besides, his family is probably having a hard time as well..."

After a few minutes, you managed to calm down your heart. Taking a deep breath, you slowly reached into your bag and pulled out your phone, it was almost sunset.

"Maybe... we can rest easy." You muttered under your breath as you slowly close your eyes, in hopes to get some peace...

Then you hear people gasps all around you.

This confuses you, slowly opening you eyes to see what was the commotion about.

But only to meet face to face with a white face, it's black soulless eyes staring at yours.

You let out petrified scream as you quickly got up and tried to run, but to see the walls and floors cover in the same colorless face.

"What the hell-" you cursed under you breath, your gaze looking all around as the walls started to glitch. It's as if the world itself was slowly crumbling down.

You quickly pulled out your axe, ready to fend off this mysterious entity. But the something caught your eye.

Taichirō running out of the building in a hurry. You furrowed your brows, wondering what the hell Taichirō is thinking.

But...

You run after hum.

"Taichiro! Taichiro!" You yelled out through the crumbles of the city, trying to look for the guy. You were panicking to say at least, the world is practically crumbling and Taichirō is here running around.

You gritted you teeth, ready to find him and give the scolding of his life.

But after running around, you came across a school, the gate broken down into shreds as of someone used something to tear it down.

You slowly took a step closer, ready to whatever you were going to face.

But then...

You heard... crying?

You peeked around the corner, your eyes slightly widen as you see Taichiro...

But there was also something else...

"...Ichi?"

Taichirō turns on his heels, staring back at you with the same wide eyes while the boy next to him in the ground continue to sob.

Taichirō's mouth was slightly agape as he took a step closer to you...

"....[User]?"

You quickly held in your tears as you quickly ran towards him and hugged him as tight as you can. All this time, Ichi, the man that you felled in love with, that helped you through dungeons....

Was the same man that was your childhood best friend and crush...

Nothing's gonna hurt you, Baby | Leon Kennedy × F! Reader

Warning:Mentions of sex, alcoholism but very soft, very angst. Hurt/comfort and established relationship.

A/N: this is my first CanonxReader fic. It's short but I hope you guys like it.

Shout out to @biohazard-4ever and @leonsmoons for this idea. Inspired by the song "Nothing's gonna hurt you, Baby by Cigarettes After Sex".

ENJOY ♡

Leon is a man who doesn’t really talk about his life nor how he’s been feeling. It was like that ever since you guys started dating. 

He warned you and you still accepted yet, you wanted him to open up. He was affectionate towards you, given that he showers you with gifts and occasionally spoils you but on times he looked stressed or troubled, he’d let it out in bed or going out, drinking until he’s drunk out of his mind.

It troubled you… it led to fights and arguments. 

It’s draining. Draining you.

You prayed for a day that he would trust you enough to open up all his troubles. All his pain so you can help him in any way.

That time is tonight. You were both sleeping in the warm bed of your shared apartment. You were a light sleeper and he knew that so you were awakened by him stirring and soft whimpers of distress. You turned to see the wrinkles near his eyes tightened and his forehead covered in sweat. His breath elevated. It worries you.

“Babe…” you called, shaking him slightly. He didn’t budge, still in distress.

“Babe… Babe…” you kept shaking him until you called out his name.

“LEON! WAKE UP!”

He finally jolted up, his breath labored and shaky. You cupped his face as you tried your best to calm him down.

“I’m here…” you muttered, caressing his cheek with one hand and running through his hair for another. His ocean eyes gazed into yours, brimming with soft tears. You decided to place your forehead on top of his as he muttered your name. His voice was soft yet broken like he was afraid.

That was the first time you saw him so vulnerable, so soft. You just held him while his hands seek you, holding you in a crushing hug like he’ll lose you if he lets go.

“I-I’m sorry, baby… I am so sorry…” he muttered, his voice barely a whisper as you shushed him.

“It’s ok…” you reassured him, as soft as he was. “It’s ok, Leon…” you gave him a soft, tender kiss on the forehead.

At that moment, you finally got what you hoped for. The moment to make him feel safe. To feel loved more than just sex and gifts.

As his shaky breath felt warm on your neck, you held him close, letting him feel your warmth.

“Nothing’s gonna hurt you, baby…” you whispered into his ear with a reassuring tone. “I am always here for you…”

Those words made his hold on you tightened, a few soft sobs escaped his lips while you held him protectively.

He didn’t need to say anything anymore. He knew at that moment…

You saved him.

I'm not even upset. I'm just a nice little blend of bemused and amused (which are two separate things entirely, though they often get treated as synonyms).

Alright, moving on...

I'm finishing Seaside this weekend. It's almost done. Well, more like halfway. But I can bust out a few thousand more words in *checks watch* four days' time. It's practically a done deal. I'm not at all setting myself up for failure with this strict time constraint.

No siree.

I anticipate having REARRANGED updated by NEXT Friday/Saturday, not this upcoming one. Whether this comes to fruition or not depends entirely on my ability to buckle down and NOT get distracted by my ADHD. I make no solid promises because I'm a disaster person.

The next item on my agenda is Crimson Chapter 3. I've bumped up the chapter count because there was so, so much tsundere!Suguru interacting with Reader-chan that I didn't have the willpower to cut any of it. We now have 4 chapters of our Vampire Knight/JJK fusion AU.... I'm a simp for mean guys, what can I say?

Then another REARRANGED the next week, and the end of Crimson the week after that.

I'm a busy bee this month. But I have so much to catch up on.

Once I finish my two smaller WIPs, I have a maddening desire to break out of the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom for a few smaller side projects while writing REARRANGED. I'm leery, given that JJK is where my main audience is. I wouldn't want to alienate any of my regular readers. I'd still probably do CanonXReader fics because they soothe my self-indulgent needs. But, man, I want to dabble in other fandoms so baaaad.

So, my question to those of you who keep up with my works, are there any characters from this list that you'd like to see more of in the future?

(Keep in mind that this is the distant future. Not until I complete the second arc of REARRANGED at least.)

I just imagine Kate being very argumentative and silly when she’s sleep deprived and tends to just talk at whoever’s around her so she’s bothering Janine downstairs in the middle of the night during one of the late shifts. So one of the guys has to come collect her (it’s Egon, let’s be honest) and bring her upstairs to bed, and she’s “fighting” it the whole time. It’s just a very funny and adorable situation I think about a lot. 🙃

KATE, IN FACT, ALMOST DID NOT TURN OUT perfectly fine. She hadn't slept for about three days and she almost shot up the whole place with her proton pack when it was supposed to be recharging for the next bust. But Kate, all by herself in the dark, scared herself and almost half the people in the Firehouse due to her freaking out about some ghost being the Firehouse when it wasn't possible. If there was, that would've been a huge problem.

But luckily, Janine had managed to get to her first before she could do any damage that they couldn't pay for. She took the wand from her hand, and made sure that she took the pack off her back before putting it away. She walked towards Kate, shaking her head.

"Kate," Janine started, a sigh escaped her lips as she crossed her arms, "This morning, you thought a ghost made your toast."

Kate looked at Janine like she was insane. Well, more scared than anything. "I didn't put the bread in! You didn't put the bread in! So who else did it?"

"I saw you put the toast in there," Janine replied.

"Janine, I swear to you. I didn't put the bread in there!" Kate huffed.

"Yeah, okay."

Kate had been talking Janine's ear off. Janine usually didn't mind having a conversation with her, considering they're the only two women working at the Firehouse. But she quickly realizes that sleep-deprived Kate was a whole different story.

One time, they managed to get into some sort of silly argument over who could slide down the pole the fastest. Janine was barely upstairs. Janine didn't even use the pole. But she entertained Kate's antics anyways.

Janine had her head down on the desk. "Kate, for the last time, I am not watching you slide down that pole again. If I see you spin on it one more time──"

She hadn't even finished her statement. Egon has walked into the room. He passed her desk, saying, "It's alright, I got her."

Egon walked toward the pole. "Kate, sweetheart, you need to sleep," he says.

"I don't want to! I wanna go onto the pole again," she whined.

Egon ends up taking her away from the pole. He swiftly carries her over his shoulder, a sigh escaped his lips as he carries her up the stairs to her room. "Not on my watch. When you sleep, that's when you can go on the pole again."

"You're no fun," Kate said to him.

"I may not be fun now, but you will thank me later after you get some sleep," Egon says.

He makes it up to the room. Egon gently puts Kate down on the bed. When she hits the bed, she's pretty much out like a light. He leaned down, giving her a kiss to her forehead.

"Goodnight, Kate."

Back in my early days of fanfiction, I remember OCs being the OG reader/self inserts. At least in my fandoms, hardly anyone used y/n or CANONxReader. It was almost exclusively named ocs, and writers and readers just sort of understood that whatever oc we were reading was us.

I didn't even know Y/N was a thing until kpop fanfiction. Even then, it was only a small fraction.

That's hust my experience tho and every Fandom is different.

So just know, when you read my oc centered fanfic, you can insert yourself. Even though I name and have face claims, feel free to throw out all the finer details and plop yourself in....
