The whole metapeach dynamic is actually quite interesting! Can't wait to see more :)
I'm glad you think so! :D I have so much smash lore/headcanons about them but I have yet to compile any of it into something cohesive lol. I swear this ship just started because they were my mains, my peach is actually way better than my mk though so whenever he'd get whupped she would take over and win the set without even really trying. she thinks smash bros is all fun and games while mk is deadly serious about it, so they're a really amusing team. it was over for me when I started putting little bits of personality like that into it.
#BUT IT DIDN'T END THERE....because i remembered the unwavering chivalry event in smash 4 and got validated by an actually canon dynamic lol#then THAT spun into going back to sse and really acknowledging things like when he saved her and zelda from the cages with snake and lucari#and her just waltzing around in the halberd and not being intimidated by any of the cannonfire and explosions lmao it's so good#also her relationship with kirby in smash is adorable and potentially involves mk by proxy?#idk i just feel like there's a lot you can brew up with them and it's fun lol#ANYWAY GEEZ#sobbing because everyone has been so cool and nice#i will definitely have more art bless u#asks#metapeach

okay
I do like earthspark overall
but god I wish for once we could get a tf show (or just. anything) that doesn't do the "humans are better than Cybertronians at everything" bit.
In Earthspark's defense, it's not TFP.
MECH and Silas somehow being able to make an optimus clone and fight better than Optimus himself with it is idiotic on so many levels and I have no idea how they thought it was good writing.
(yeah sure Optimus has been fighting a war for four million years and 1v1s Megatron on the regular and knows the ins and outs of his body and has all the wisdom and knowledge and skill bestowed by the matrix but some jackass military prick who's at most got 50 years of combat experience controlling a second rate knockoff with what's basically an arcade control stick can kick his ass without trying)
okay before anyone gets pissy at me for saying Earthspark did the "humans are better than Cybertronians at everything" bit, I'm being mostly hyperbolic, and also: (this gets long and rambly so I'm putting it under a readmore")
I'm mostly saying Earthspark did the bit because GHOST and Mandroid were both unreasonably effective at defeating and capturing Cybertronians, on top of being able to mind control them.
(I really don't like humans being able to defeat Cybertronians on any consistent basis unless it's like. a motorcycle or minicon or micromaster getting hit by a bunch of HEAT rounds or 120mm sabot or a prolonged barrage of 20-30mm autocannon fire or specifically anti-Cybertronian weapons like inhibitors and mode locks and EM/EMP blasts and the like because then it just makes it seem like Cybertronian weaponry is on average about as effective as a nerf gun. but then you get the issue of "if humans have such effective anti-Cybertronian weapons that can incapacitate a Cybertronian in one shot why aren't the bots and cons using them instead of blasters that seem to do piss-all against anything that's not point blank")
I'm willing to give ES some leeway on the "can mind control Cybertronians despite that generally being something only people with powers or specific weapons for it can do (like Mindwipe and Bombshell and sometimes Soundwave and mnemosurgeons if you want to count them)" thing because GHOST did have Bombshell in custody and could prooobably have acquired cerebro-shells to study and experiment on. (though I don't remember if Mandroid ever had any time with Bombshell so. if he didn't then screw that, leeway lost). but also if cerebro-shells are as easy to reverse engineer as that you'd expect the Autobots to have already come up with a defense against them. Perpetual arms race and all that.
Personally, I'm not fond of humans being able to reverse-engineer Cybertronian tech and anatomy like it's nothing because I really don't care for the sci-fi trope of humans' thing being "we're so clever and smart and adaptive and so much better than all alien races at learning and improving". It's overdone and the positioning of humanity as special and/or unique that a lot of sci-fi does annoys the hell out of me
(Tangent time) as an example for why I think the "humans can reverse engineer any alien tech ever" trope is stupid and bad (sci-fi) writing: if an alien race had gravity manipulation tech that operated via graviton manipulation, (modern) humanity would flat out have no idea how it worked — even if this was a version modern humanity that universally accepted gravitons as real — unless they had the documentation from the aliens explaining that's how it worked, because "Unambiguous detection of individual gravitons, though not prohibited by any fundamental law, is impossible with any physically reasonable detector [...] a detector with the mass of Jupiter and 100% efficiency, placed in close orbit around a neutron star, would only be expected to observe one graviton every 10 years, even under the most favorable conditions. It would be impossible to discriminate these events from the background of neutrinos, since the dimensions of the required neutrino shield would ensure collapse into a black hole" (yes that's from wikipedia but it's also true (enough for the purposes of this dumb argument. if physicists want to tell me the ways this statement is wrong in any way please do I want to learn things)) (tangent over)
obviously Cybertronian anatomy doesn't function off anything similar to gravitons (in that canon has never said Cybertronian brains or sparks or anything contain or use unprovable or undetectable (to human) particles) (though you might be able to make an argument for Energon being something like that) (it generally seems human organisations' ability to detect Cybertronians is gained from Energon detecting tech given to them by Cybertronians so)
But. y'know. There's saying "1940s humanity could probably reverse engineer a Ferrari" and saying "13th century medieval Europe could definitely reverse engineer an F-35"
#random robot rambles#I'm pretty sure this is stupid crap that no one cares about and whatnot but I'm an idiot so#(yes it's a kid's show but pretty much every piece of tf media does this in some way)#for all my issues with AHM (which are many) at least the characters and their weaponry are properly powerful#I don't think I'll ever not like that one panel of the cons all standing unfazed by a squad of F-22s' 20mm cannonfire#yes I'm aware that me having these kinds of issues with this is because I have weird standards for verisimilitude to be maintained#for instance if a character dies or gets defeated because they did some stupid move (as in egregiously bad technique) for no reason#and they're meant to be a highly trained combatant#I instantly check out and start insulting the character for being an idiot#(examples of stupid moves in sword combat are unnecessary spin moves and blatant telegraphs like hammer blows and/or leading with the hands#or even elbows instead of with the blade)#(I'll forgive hand-leading and telegraphs a little in live action because it helps keep actors safe#but if it's animated then I don't)

Cuddling with... One Piece Characters!
Part 2 (Franky, Nami, Robin, Ace, Sabo, Shanks)
TW: Non-sexual nudity for Robin's part and slightly suggestive jokes for Shanks' part, but otherwise SFW. Gender-neutral reader, no use of (y/n)
I kinda got carried away so some of this is just how they express affection in general ? But also there's cuddling too lol
How (more) One Piece characters would cuddle with you!
Franky: At the beginning of your relationship, he’s a little hesitant to cuddle with you. He’s much larger than you, not to mention that most of him is made of metal, which makes him worry. What if he accidentally hurts you? Is his body too hard or cold to cuddle you “properly?” But with enough reassurance, you’ll turn Franky into a cuddle machine! Due to his sheer size, he usually ends up spooning you or holding you in some way, like against his chest, but he will never turn down a chance to be the little spoon. This man is absolutely shameless in everything he does so he has no qualms about cuddling in front of others either.
Sleep was a precious luxury when sailing the seas. Getting a proper rest each night was never guaranteed, as any number of threats could have you springing out of bed and into the heat of battle at a moment’s notice.
It was a perfectly calm night. No freak weather incidents, no resonate booms of cannonfire, no stomps or shouts from your lively crew. Even better, you were curled up in the embrace of your boyfriend. You laid against his sturdy chest, his massive hands engulfing nearly your entire body.
Which only made it all the more frustrating when you couldn’t fall asleep.
You suppressed the urge to let out a groan, instead directing your gaze up towards Franky. His eyes were closed, but his breathing was somewhat shallow, leading you to believe he may not have been asleep either. You decided to take your chances.
“Hey Franky, are you awake?”
You whispered softly, absentmindedly tracing your finger across his collarbone.
His eyes didn’t open, but a large thumb started stroking up and down your back.
“Yeah. Can’t sleep either, baby?”
You let out a hum in affirmation. Franky slowly opened his eyes, flashing you a sleepy grin, one that you happily returned.
You both remained like that for a while, basking in the silence and each other’s love-stricken gazes. Finally, you spoke up.
“Can we switch? Wanna hold you.”
Franky chuckled, jostling you slightly from your position on top of him.
“Of course, baby. Whatever you want.”
He gently slid you off his chest, shifting so that he was laying on his side. You wrapped your arms around his waist, smushing your face into his broad back.
You never minded that your boyfriend was a cyborg, but you secretly loved moments like this. His back was so warm and soft compared to the rest of his metal body, and you couldn’t help but snuggle deeper into him.
Franky was enjoying himself just as much as you were. Franky was someone that radiated confidence from his very being, but he’d be lying to himself if he said he didn’t ever worry about how you perceived his unusual body. Feeling your warm breath fanning across his spine, your hair tickling his skin, the sensation of you pressing into the more sensitive flesh of his back, made him feel truly human again.
A large, imposing, audacious cyborg being spooned by his lover, whose arms could barely reach around the length of his body, would be a ridiculous sight for anyone else to behold. But the two of you were in absolute bliss, your prior sleeplessness forgotten as you both drifted into a peaceful slumber.
Nami: She loves to cuddle with the both of you facing each other, especially when you’re sleeping together. There’s been too many times in her life where she’s woken up alone, away from anything that’s ever felt familiar to her. Now, you’re the first thing she sees when she opens her eyes, reminding her that everything's real, that she’s safe now. She also likes any cuddling position where you’re holding her, whether she’s sitting in your lap, being the little spoon, or laying against your chest. She views cuddling as something more intimate and vulnerable, so she prefers to have it happen in private.
Sunlight slowly began to filter through the little porthole, scattering sunbeams across the room.
Nami was roused from her sleep as the offendingly bright light hit her eyes. She frowned in discomfort initially, wishing she could have gotten a few more precious hours of sleep. But as her vision adjusted and she took in the sight before her, her heart softened.
You, still slumbering peacefully. Your hair was a little mussed from sleep, your mouth hung open slightly as you breathed deeply, and your sleepwear was ruffled and wrinkled. But to Nami, you were the most beautiful thing she’d ever laid eyes on, more precious than any treasure she could dream of.
Your arms were wrapped around Nami’s waist, but she pulled back slightly from your grasp so she could get a better view of you. Unable to help herself, she reached out to brush her hand softly across your cheek, almost as if to affirm she wasn’t still dreaming.
The action stirred you from your sleep, but just you smiled and leaned into Nami’s touch.
“Good morning, love.”
Your voice was a bit raspy, but it was music to Nami’s ears.
“Good morning to you, too. Sorry for waking you.”
You shook your head, your eyes finally fluttering open.
“It’s okay.”
You pulled Nami closer to you, placing a kiss on her temple and resting your chin on the top of her head. She eagerly snuggled into your embrace, her arms coming to circle around your waist as well.
“Wanna just go back to sleep?”
You asked softly.
You weren’t quite ready to leave the warm comfort of your and Nami’s shared bed. Luckily, Nami seemed to feel the same way. She merely nodded in response, already drifting back to sleep.
This little routine of yours has become so normal, so mundane, and yet Nami cherishes every morning she wakes up next to you like it’s the first. To hold and be held by you reminds her that she’s finally escaped the horrors of her past, that she’s living out the dreams she’s had since she was a young child, and that she gets to do it all with you. And that’s worth more than anything money could buy.
Robin: Hold this woman. Please. You would think her Devil Fruit powers would make her the perfect big spoon, and of course if you want to be held by her, she would be more than happy to indulge you. But please make sure you hold her, too. She’s desperately craving the comfort and intimacy. However, it’s difficult for her to vocalize her needs and as such, you’ll have to initiate the majority of cuddling. A very common way you cuddle is Robin sitting in your lap leaning back into your chest while she reads, making sure to turn the pages slowly so you can read over her shoulder. Another private cuddler for the most part, but wouldn’t mind small displays of affection like leaning your head onto her shoulder.
“Darling, I’m going to take a bath. Would you like to join?”
Robin peeked her head into the room where you had been laying in your bed. You had been on the verge of taking a nap, but practically jumped at the opportunity to spend time with your girlfriend.
“Sure! Let me just grab a few things.”
You grabbed a change of clothes and some toiletries before taking Robin’s hand and letting her lead you across the ship.
When you and Robin first started dating, intimacy and vulnerability was something she struggled with. She had learned to live without much affection from a very young age, so she wasn’t used to giving or receiving it.
But you were patient and understanding, giving Robin all the time that she needed. Now, you both treasured the small moments of closeness you were able to carve out amidst your tumultuous lives as pirates.
Bathing together had quickly become one of your favorite ways to spend time with each other. Even when you two would try to read together in the aquarium bar or share a cup of tea on the deck, it was never a guarantee your peaceful moments wouldn’t be disturbed by one of your crewmates, and Robin was not one to indulge in PDA. Aside from sleeping together at night, taking a bath was the only way the two of you could cuddle without interruption.
After rinsing yourselves under the showerheads first and drawing a warm bath for yourselves, you settled into the water first, leaning back against the rim of the tub. Robin climbed in shortly after, resting her back against your chest. She let out a deep sigh, the tension practically melting off of her shoulders.
Although to anyone else it seemed that Robin was always calm and composed, as her lover you knew that she often kept her guard up, not allowing herself to be fully vulnerable. But alone with you, she was granted a rare moment to truly relax.
Wordlessly, you went about your usual routine, reaching for bottles of shampoo and conditioner and a bar of soap. You laughed softly to yourself when you recalled the first time you asked Robin to do this with you.
“Take a bath… together? My, you’re being rather bold today, aren’t you?”
She had teased, making your face heat up as you realized the implications of your words.
“N-no, nothing like that! I mean, not that I don’t want that- but I just thought, maybe uh- you’d want someone to help wash your back?”
You fumbled for any excuse you could think of. Truly, you had just wanted an excuse to spend more time with her. Neither of you brought up the fact that Robin could easily wash her own back with the help of her Devil Fruit ability, and to this day that fact remained unacknowledged.
You started with Robin’s hair, gently massaging shampoo into her scalp and brushing conditioner through the ends of her long, dark tresses. Then, you moved to wash her back, though you eventually devolved to just massaging the tense muscles. You couldn’t help but place soft kisses on her bare shoulders and neck from time to time, and Robin’s heart fluttered with each gentle press of your lips to her skin.
Even as the water grew tepid and your skin began to prune, you both remained in the bath. Your arms had found their way around Robin’s waist, her hands coming to settle on top of your own.
“Love you.”
You mumbled into her skin, finally breaking the peaceful silence. Robin turned her head to rest her face in the crook of your neck.
“Love you more, darling. Thank you.”
Ace: Not unlike his younger brother, Ace loves cuddling and physical affection. If you say you want to cuddle, he’ll drop whatever he’s doing and have you in his arms in a heartbeat. The rest of the Whitebeard pirates tease him for the way you have the infamous “Fire-Fist” wrapped around your finger, but neither of you are bothered by their words. He likes to have you resting against his side or chest, but also loves laying his head in your lap. Run your fingers through his hair and he’s a goner. When he falls into one of his sudden sleeping fits, you’re always there to lay him against your shoulder or across your lap.
The Moby Dick was as lively as ever, with alcohol flowing endlessly and the sound of drunken laughter and sea shanties filling the night air.
As much as you loved indulging in the festivities, it could get a bit overwhelming at times.
You had snuck away from the party a few minutes ago, making your way to the ship’s stern. You could still hear the ruckus of your crewmates, but it was much more muted now. You were sitting with your back against the ship’s railing, letting the sound of crashing waves soothe your senses. At first, the cool breeze felt refreshing on your flushed cheeks, as you were still a bit drunk yourself, but soon you felt a shiver wrack your spine.
“Hey sweetheart, you alright?”
Perfect timing.
You opened your eyes with a smile, instantly recognizing Ace’s voice.
“Mhm, I’m good. Just need a little breather.”
Ace made his way over to you, plopping down beside you and slinging an arm around your shoulder. You instinctively snuggled into him, resting your head against his chest. Despite his lack of shirt and the chill of the evening air, Ace’s skin was almost hot to the touch. Thanks to his Devil Fruit, your boyfriend often acted as your personal space heater, a role he was happy to take on.
You let out a contented sigh as you warmed up in Ace’s embrace. He let out a chuckle and leaned down to kiss the top of your head.
“Comfortable?”
He teased. You looked up at him, your smile never having left your face.
“Very. You’re really hot, you know?”
You said with a wink. Ace laughed out loud this time. He tried to put on a suave smirk, but you could see a hint of blush across his freckled cheeks.
“Oh, I know sweetheart.”
You both giggled at this, grinning at each other like two idiots in love. You eventually settled into a comfortable silence, Ace’s arm never leaving your shoulder. You weren’t sure how much time had passed, but you eventually felt Ace rest his head on top of yours.
The music and laughter continued in the background, and as much as you delighted in Ace’s presence, you didn’t want to keep him from the fun.
“Ace, honey, you can go back to the party if you want. I’ll come join you guys again soon.”
First, there was only silence. Then, Ace let out a snore above you.
You couldn’t help but laugh to yourself again. Of course, he has fallen asleep. Whether it was due to his narcolepsy or the exhaustion of drinking and partying, you weren’t sure. But you always cherished the moments when Ace would fall asleep on you.
Gently, you shifted Ace so that his head was now in your lap. You removed his hat and placed it on his chest so you could run your fingers through his dark locks.
From this position, you had a perfect view to admire Ace’s features. The way his bangs fell on his forehead, the constellation of freckles across his cheeks, the soft smile he wore even while he was sleeping.
Your back would surely start to ache from sitting against the railing, and your legs would probably end up falling asleep from Ace’s weight on them, but seeing Ace so at peace in your embrace made it all worth it.
Sabo: The ASL brothers just love to cuddle, what can I say? This man would hold you like a giant stuffed animal and refuse to let you go until he says so. The chaotic and uncertain life of a revolutionary means time to cuddle is exceedingly rare, so any opportunity you two can get is savored. Ultimately, Sabo’s not picky on how you guys cuddle, but he would favor arrangements that let him put his face in your hair. He finds your scent so comforting, especially after a difficult day.
Your eyes slowly cracked open as you awoke from your slumber. The room was silent and the sun hadn’t even begun to peak over the horizon yet, but your body knew instinctively it was time to wake up.
The life of a revolutionary was exhausting in many ways, but the hope of creating a better, more just world was enough to pull you out of bed each day to endure whatever grueling training or expedition was planned.
That, and knowing that every new sunrise meant another day of waking up with the love of your life. It was a precious gift, especially given the dangerous nature of a revolutionary's life. You loved Sabo, and he loved you, but it was only under the gentle spell of sleep, away from the terrors and turmoils of war, that you two could fully bask in each other’s comfort.
The object of your affections was currently still fast asleep, his arms draped loosely around your waist with his face pressed into your hair, lulled into slumber by your familiar scent. You wiggled in his grasp, turning so the two of you were face to face.
You always loved waking up before Sabo so you could steal a few brief moments to admire him. The only time you saw the young Chief of Staff truly at peace was asleep in the safety and comfort of your shared bed. You could never resist reaching a hand out to gently trace along his scar, a sight you found both saddening and beautiful at the same time.
You spared one last glance at your boyfriend before you rolled over again, shifting towards the side of the bed so you could get up and start preparing for the day.
You had barely moved an inch before the grip around your waist tightened, a strong pair of arms yanking you backwards. Sabo’s hold on you remained firm as he slung a leg over yours and buried his head into your shoulder, his whole body almost enveloping yours.
You huffed, but you couldn’t fight the grin tugging at the corners of your lips. You gave a half-hearted wiggle, pretending like you were trying to escape Sabo’s grasp when really you wanted nothing more than to fall back to sleep in his embrace.
“Sabo, love, we have to get up.”
Sabo only shook his head in response, his blonde hair tickling your bare skin. He wound his arms around you even tighter, almost squeezing the breath out of your lungs. Sabo snuggled into you like a child clinging to their beloved teddy bear.
“Jus’ a few more minutes.”
He mumbled, not even bothering to open his eyes.
And who were you to deny him?
Shanks: Believe it or not, he’s actually a little hesitant to cuddle or hold you at the beginning of your relationship. It’s not that he doesn’t want to be close to you, but age-old insecurities about his arm arise when you first get together. However, with lots of communication, reassurance, and love, you’ll turn Shanks into a cuddle fiend. He likes having you in his lap or resting against his chest. We know this man is shameless, so get ready for a lot of PDA. Shanks likes drinking, and he likes having you sit in his lap, so having you sit in his lap while drinking? Perfect! You’re in a public tavern with tons of people around? No worries!
“Shanks, honey, you gotta help me out here.”
Your voice was exasperated and strained as you struggled to keep both yourself and your intoxicated husband upright. Said husband was seemingly unaware of your plight, swaying to and fro with each clumsy step, leaning his full weight into where his arm was slung around your shoulder.
You nearly toppled over as Shanks leaned in to press a sloppy kiss against your cheek, laughing jovially as he did.
“I love you too, honey!”
You couldn’t help but smile along with him, your heart fluttering at such a genuine display of affection in spite of your previous annoyance.
After a somewhat perilous trek, you finally made it back to the Red Force with you and your husband thankfully unscathed. You gently guided Shanks to sit on your shared bed in the captain’s quarters, taking a moment to catch your breath. By this point, your clothes and hair had become disheveled and you could feel a thin layer of sweat accumulating from the effort it took to haul Shanks back to the ship. This, however, did nothing to deter your husband, who was currently gazing at you with such raw devotion and tenderness in his eyes that it made you falter.
You blushed and shyly turned your head away from Shanks, which only made him chuckle again. Despite having been married for years, he had the ability to feel like you were falling in love with him all over again.
You sifted through the dresser near the bed, pulling out a set of sleepwear for the both of you. As you approached Shanks, the heavy smell of alcohol lingered in the air, making you scrunch your nose up. He really needed a shower, and so did you to be honest, but you shuddered at the thought of washing him in this state. You had barely made it to the ship in one piece, but trying to keep Shanks upright on a wet, slippery floor sounded like a disaster waiting to happen.
I’ll just wash the sheets tomorrow.
You conceded, moving to discard your current outfit in favor of more comfortable pajamas. You turned your head back to see Shanks gaping at you. He looked almost sheepish, as though he were witnessing something he shouldn’t be despite having seen you in various states of undress more times than he could count, and now it was your turn to giggle at his flustered state.
Once you had finished changing, you moved on to your husband, grabbing the hem of his shirt and lifting it over his head. He complied easily, his abashed expression quickly being replaced by a smug grin.
“Oh? Just can’t keep your hands off me can you, sweetheart?”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes as you tugged a nightshirt over Shanks’ head. Ignoring his suggestive smirk and wiggling eyebrows, you moved on to tugging off his shoes and pants. Shanks gave a teasing, low whistle in response.
“Wow, gettin’ right to business, are we? Not sure why you put my shirt back on, but I guess we can make it work-“
He was cut off by you flinging his pajama pants at his face. You could hear his muffled chuckles through the fabric.
“Put your pants on, pervert. We’re going to bed.”
“Again, not sure why I need my pants then-“
“To sleep, Shanks. We’re going to sleep.”
It wasn’t long before the two of you settled into bed. Even in his tipsy state, Shanks’ arm instinctively reached out to wrap around your waist, pulling you into his chest where you belonged. For all his eagerness earlier, Shanks seemed to fall asleep almost instantly, but not before murmuring sweetly in your ear.
“G’night baby, I love you.”
“I love you, too.”

I just binged a bunch of your fics and I have a tiny request for you! Could you do headcanons for Zoro and/or Sanji with a selkie reader (together or separately)? Please and thank you!!
Masterlist here.
Word Count: Background Drabble, 700+. Per gentleman, 600+.
Hello dear anon! Thank you for challenging me with a mythical fic! I enjoyed my time crafting it for you. I hope you don't mind, I wrote them as more mini-fics/drabbles rather than HCs. I also snuck in an extra character because apparently the heart wants what it wants today, and I can't deny the words from wording.
Selkies are an aquatic race of fey native to the cold, wet northern coastlines. They live in villages on the shore, and occasionally mingle with outsiders. They have a particular wariness of humans, due to their tendency to steal their seal skins, but Selkie are otherwise very sociable creatures that love exploring the shores and the oceans beyond (Fact link, 5e Race)

There was a battle above the surface, that was one thing you were certain of. Cannonfire, ricocheting iron balls and splintering of the wooden masts above the waves. You had never seen such violence, such hatred between two peoples. Recognising the marine lettering was no difficulty for you; their kind gracing your shores with regularity.
It was the other vessel that drew you in. You heard laughter ringing down below the ocean surface, halting you in your retreat as you sought out its source with your blackened eyes. Your sisters had long since fled from the display of violence, opting to hide away and wait for the fighting to stop. But you remained behind, desperately seeking out the conclusion to the battle above.
Suddenly, the marine ship began to flee from the engagement, but not before a figure was cast into the water and began rapidly sinking to the oceanic floor. Your eyes widened, your tail-flipper carrying you with haste to bring yourself over to the figure without a second thought.
His hair was dark, his eyes were tightly shut, and his limbs refused to move in a way to propel him away from his approaching death within the salt water. A devil-fruit user, you thought, bringing your curious eyes over to his and seeking them out beneath his closed eyelids. The small scar below his left eye had your head cocking to the side in curiosity.
“Luffy!” you heard several voices cry from above the surface of the water, the man’s eyes immediately opening to meet your own. His shock was written all over his face, his breath releasing in a bubbled huff that had his arms attempting to raise upwards to collect his breath to no avail.
“Luffy,” you called in your oceanic language, smiling your feral face into his; revealing rows of sharpened teeth in a wide smile. His panic continued to rise, his lungs screaming for air as you took your time studying him. You drew your face impossibly close to his, unblinking eyes studying him as he struggles against the water. “Luffy,” you again called to him, your eyes and face beginning to relay a humanoid likeness, “Let me help you.”
You ushered your body beneath his, chaperoning him to the surface of the water and drawing his body up to the surface of the water. He immediately sucked in a large ballooned breath of air, his neck snapping towards his ship to seek out the concerned and panicked faces of the members of his crew. After he made eye contact and flashed them a winning grin, he turned back to face your animalistic and beastly face, and upturned his eyes in gratitude.
“You think you could take me to the ship?” He asked, a mischievous twinkle now reflected in his eyes as he checked over you. You nodded, beginning to ride the propelling waves over to the vessel. The figurehead of a ram was carved intricately against the ship’s stern, a beauty to behold as you danced your flipper and easily propelled you both to the splintered and fractured wood.
He wrapped his arms around your upper flippers, nuzzling into the back of your neck and uttering his gratitude against your skin. Your voice harshly barked a cracked laugh at the gesture, enjoying his playfulness and kindness as he continued to tell you what a good seal you were.
“Luffy, what are you doing?!” A woman with orange hair called out to him, eyes wide and panicked.
“This seal saved me from drowning!” he called in return, with his broad smile pleasantly cracking his face, “Gotta rub its belly and thank it with a big scratch and a cuddle!” As Luffy drew himself over to the ship, he jumped from your back and took hold of the rigging above and began his slow climb to the top of the water.
Your instincts screamed at you to return to your sisters, to withdraw away from these sailors; but as soon as your eyes sprung over to meet your eyes with theirs. Why, you were completely hypnotized.
Hoisting your body upwards, your beastly form shedding from your human form and shrouding yourself in a cloak of blubber and fur. You climbed in your nudity to the decks above, hoisting your legs over the side of the ship and revealing yourself to the entirety of the crew in front of you.
“Luffy,” the woman whispered, her shock written all over her face, “That is no mere seal.” Luffy cocked his head over, shock now written on his face at noticing your beauty in your human form.
“That is a selkie.”
Zoro
The swordsman had never seen such beauty in his life. Although immediately drawn in by your otherworldly radiance, as the loyal first mate aboard the Going Merry: he stepped in and ushered the captain behind him and took a protective stance. A darkness was within your eyes, rotating your shoulders as you squared up to face this mysterious man.
You knew from your place within the water below that when your eyes met his, he was a marvel to behold. But now with your close proximity to him, his valiance and loyalty to his captain had you immediately smitten. Widening your lips in a broad grin, you elevated your hands in front of yourself defensively and bowed your head low to him.
“I mean neither you nor your crew harm, Protector,” your honeyed voice sweetly called to him. He was taken aback with your voice, stumbling in his step forward as he continued to shield his captain away from you.
“I’ll be the judge o’ that, Ningyo,” he uttered with a smirk;his eyes displaying a similar ferocity to yours in your bestial form.
And that is when you decided you were going to court him. Your soul cried out to join with his; immediately smitten with the swordsman. You stayed with the crew for months, subtle touches over his shoulders, leaving a fresh kill at his feet first, before Sanji took it to the kitchen to properly prepare it. Everything you did, you did to please the swordsman. Every fiber of your being called to him and courted him.
You began leaving your furred skin around in places for him to find, only for him to return it to you with a deep scowl and a verbal reprimand of: “Can ya stop leaving this around the place? It’s really annoying.”
It was only when Usopp and Nami physically sat him down and spelt out the courting practices of Selkie folk that had his face burning with a bright vibrance and his eyes widened. His lips downturned in a deep frown as his blush rose, his shock at your shameless audacity of courting him so publicly without any context of his lacking comprehension.
He decided a full frontal confrontation was what was needed to tackle this, no room for any other mistaken intentions and misdirection for his lack of direction sense.
“You been leaving your blubber ‘round for me to find, Ningyo?” he yelled at you, heads snapping up from the crew around as they witnessed this verbal spat.
“Yes,” you confirmed, laying back and basking in the sun atop the wooden deck.
“Why?” His pointed hazelnut gaze held the intensity of a man staring down his enemy. You refused to shy away; instead rising to your feet and squaring up to him.
“Because I want to be yours, and I want you to be mine,” your lip curled at the corner, your sharpened canines baring out in your brilliant smile. He reached down, claiming your biceps within his wide fingers and palm.
“Why me?” He growled, his tone low enough for only you to hear. You reached up your hand, softening your smile and cradling his angry face beneath your palm.
“Because I love you, Zoro,” you cooed up at his face, eyes half-lidded and full of nothing short of full adoration. His breath hitched in his throat, his mind not keeping up with the words you were relaying to him.
“This why you kept bringin’ me fish?” He asked you, his nose crinkling up as his smile broke through onto his lips. You nodded, leaning into his face. You gently brushed your nose with his, closing your eyes as you breathed him in.
Breaking from the gentle touch, you withdrew your nose from its contact and quickly bore your teeth at him, biting his chin in a gentle nip. He flinched at the contact, eyes widening at your expression.
“Next time I leave it out for you,” you growled at him, “Don’t bring it back to me, Protector.”
“I won’t, Ningyo.”
Sanji
Sanji’s breath was sucked from his lungs, his eyes wide and wild at seeing a creature of myth and legend aboard the deck of the ship. He watched as your eyes slowly assessed the crew, your gaze lingering on Luffy before your gaze snapped and met with his. Your lips parted, your heart rose into your throat as your eyes began to widen at him.
From your position below the waves, shepherding the member of the pirate crew back above deck, you drew your attention to the blond member of the crew and were immediately intrigued. As your eyes met with his rounded, gray orbs; you knew for certain:
This man was the most beautiful sight you had ever laid your eyes on. And looking at him, you knew he was immediately taken with you too.
But you refused to give into your emotions that easily.
For the next few months, you found yourself constantly nearby the ship known as the Going Merry. You constantly checked up on their non-swimming captain to ensure his safety traveling the seas, but your eyes always fell over the form of the chef amongst them. Each time you would leave, you always looked over your shoulder to notice the way his eyes would linger on you - always holding hope that you would turn back around and remain with him.
Before you really knew what you were doing, you began ushering grandiose feasts of fish and crustaceans towards the Merry, always ensuring your blond was well supplied with a variety of ingredients from within the depths of the ocean.
Kelp, seaweed and shells of vast variety began to find themselves on the windowsill of the kitchen; just as flowers, beads and brightly coloured stones were left out for you to find as you placed the gifts there. Each present had your heart swelling, but continuing to remain strong in not giving into your human emotions. He was human, and you were not.
As the ship pulled into a far off dock, Sanji’s eyes met yours as you attempted to remain coy to his attention. You were bathing in the ocean; your lengthy hair covering the linen against your chest and over your hips, pelvis and glutes. Your eyes were shut, raking a sharpened, toothed stone through your hair to detangle it of its strands - your fur and blubber skin cast aside atop a rock behind you.
Sanji was no fool. As soon as he began harboring affection for you, he asked Nami and Usopp for a variety of literature pertaining to aquatic mythos. He knew that if he were to claim your fur for himself, you would have no choice but to be with him.
He bid a hasty farewell to his crew for the evening, gesturing with his chin over to your position to alert Nami to his intentions. She pursed her lips, attempting to hold back her smile as Sanji drew himself closer to you.
As he drew his shaky hands over the skin laying so innocently against the moss-covered gray rocks, he stilled his descent and retracted his hand. Sensing his hesitation, you looked over your shoulder at him but chose not to address him. Your body and mind screamed at him to take it, to claim it for himself and, in turn, claim you. But as the seconds drew into minutes, minutes turning into several cold and unbroken moments - you finally turned to make eye contact with the chef behind you.
He was sat directly beside your fur, a cigarette beginning to relinquish its flames down to the filter as he took in the nicotine-laced smoke. His expression was unreadable, stoic and still: something you had not seen reflected on his eyes in all the months you had known him.
“Sanji?” you asked, your brows furrowing in question. He shook his head, inhaling a final breath of his cigarette before stifling the tip and stuffing the butt into his pouch for later disposal. “Sanji, why won’t you claim me?” He again shook his head, closing his eyes and turning himself away from you.
“I wanted to, mon cœur, believe me,” he confessed, nodding his head but holding his eyes closed.
“Then why didn’t you?” you rose to your human feet and began stalking over to him. As you drew yourself over to his seated form, you knelt low before him, falling to your knees in front of him.
“I would never force you to be with me, mon trésor. No matter how much I want you, I would never want you to be mine without knowing it’s truly what you want,” he confessed, opening his eyes to meet his eyes with yours once more. His eyes were pools of true adoration and love, swimming amongst the sunset reflected off the horizon.
You sighed, reaching down and collecting your fur from its place beside Sanji and bundling it within your arms. Holding it tightly and firmly within your arms, you firmly squeezed it against your chest to hold it one last time before gently bowing your head and presenting it out to him.
“This belongs to you, Sanji,” you whispered, stretching out your arms further in front of you, “Like my heart: it will always belong to you.” You heard his breath hitch in his throat, immediately falling to his knees in front of you and drawing you in for an embrace. He was quick to cradle you against his torso, smoothing his hands over your slightly damp hair and placing a sweet amount of quick kisses against your temple and hairline.
You pulled away from his embrace, looking steadily into his eyes at first before propelling your face into his to claim his lips beneath your own. Your movements were slow, dancing with skill and passion as you took his bottom lip between your sharpened teeth. He groaned against your lips, whimpering as you dropped your fur and entangled your arms around him in a strong embrace. You clawed at his back in an attempt to hold him closer to you, your nails tearing small holes into the back of his jacket and finding residence in his muscular flesh beneath the material.
“I will return it to you when you desire to go home to your sisters, mon cherie,” Sanji whispered, his heart swelling at your confession, “I know you will always belong to the wilds, and I refuse to selfishly keep you with me when humanity becomes all too much for you.”
Hearing a small winced whimper, you broke away from his lips and gazed into his eyes. He looked at you with nothing but true adoration and love, his eyes softening as he pressed his forehead against yours.
“I love you, Sanji,” you confessed, your voice low and as sweet as honey-wine. Sanji’s smile continued to shine against his cheeks, his eyes dancing lights behind the irises at such an impossible notion. To harbor the adoration of a mythical creature of great renown and legend, that was no easy feat.
“I love you too,” he confessed, brushing the tip of his nose against yours, “And I hope to continue to be worthy of such affection from someone as amazing as you.”
Luffy
“A selkie, hey?” He exclaimed with glee, immediately bringing himself before you, “Does that mean I can’t give you belly rubs, a scratch and a cuddle?” At that small question, your heart immediately swelled with the fierce desire to travel with this devil-fruit user.
“I do not think a belly rub or a scratch would be appropriate in this form, no,” your melodious and sweetened giggle sprung gleefully into the air. Luffy huffed out his own laughter, immediately wrapping his arms around your shoulders and drawing you close to him.
“Thank you for saving me, seal,” he cooed in your ear, squeezing you impossibly tight within his arms. After breaking his face away from your shoulder, he continued to hold you within his circular grip as he gazed into your eyes. You danced your gaze between his two caramel orbs, staring up at him through your eyelashes as his warm smile became contagious.
“I am not a seal, Luffy,” you purred, baring your sharpened canine teeth at him as your smile broadened.
Luffy couldn’t explain this emotion he felt, but he knew he wanted you to travel with him. Always with him. Never far from sight, not even when in your seal form and dancing in the waves below. He would patiently wait for you to crawl up the hull of the ship and meet your eyes with his; relishing in the ways your smile crept atop your lips as you savoured the mirrored reflection he met you with.
He wanted to keep you. He needed to keep you.
And you felt exactly the same. This sailor, this captain among the straw-hat pirates with the dream of becoming king of them. You wanted him as much as he wanted you. And so, you made it apparent.
Swimming below the depths and finding the most beautiful pearl within the heart of several clams; you presented him with your treasures. You brought him the flesh of your fresh kills, presenting him with the raw, sweeter, meats and watched him enthusiastically dine on the creatures - before becoming violently ill most times.
Sanji managed to sit you down in the kitchen, reprimanding you firstly before directing you to bring them to him for him to make the meat safe for human consumption. You did not take well to this notion, wanting him to see how hard you worked to provide for your beloved captain.
It was one night where you physically bore yourself before him, your body only clad in sheer linen as you presented your furred flesh to him with a warm flush littering your cheeks. Unaware of its significance, he immediately placed it over his body, removing his straw hat and placing your otherworldly head atop his own. It swelled your heart to witness him take to your gift with such enthusiasm, truly allowing yourself to humble before this pirate and allow him to claim you as his own.
“Thank you, seal,” he smiled at you, wrapping the skin around himself as one would a plush duvet to shield themselves from the cold, “why are you giving me your skin? I don’t understand.”
You sighed out an exasperated breath, your shoulders slouching and brows upturning in sorrow. He immediately snapped upright and rigid, removing his hands from beneath the flesh and collecting your shoulders beneath his palms.
“What does this mean, seal?” he asked you, his eyes displaying concern as he held you firm, “You’re not gonna leave, are you? I don’t want you to go. I want you always with me-.”
“-This means I am yours,” you confessed, your eyes refusing to meet his, “And by you accepting it; it means you are mine.” He sucked in a hasty and large breath through his nose, his eyes widening as his lungs swelled. He closed his eyes as he moved his hands over your shoulders.
“You won’t leave? You won’t go back to your family?” He sought out your eyes with his own, angling his head down to collect your gaze, “You’ll stay with me?”
“You’re my dream, Luffy,” you smiled, your eyes finally meeting his caramel orbs, “And I want to always be with you.”

There was silence across the field, something that hung heavy over their shoulders.
She stared out, away from the battlefield, to the forests that had been laid to waste by cannonfire and iron rounds.

The All-Seeing Eyes
An AU to how Mihawk meets his Seraphim clone.
Content warning: Injury, blood
~~~~~~~~~~
Karai Bari was under full assault.
Luckily, they had time to prepare in the form of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of their allied crews arriving ahead with a warning. They had escaped Egghead, and the World Government was not happy about it. It was time to take things to the Emperors themselves and deal with the problem before it could even become an issue.
The Navy brought a few of their new weapons along for good measure. One of them, Mihawk was watching intently, with curiosity and concern. The Seraphim creature with a sword was busy twirling on the sky in a duel with an unknown pirate from the Straw Hat Fleet. Mihawk was busy on the ground with his own opponents, but his eyes were keenly aware of the situation above him. Just how much similar was this...boy supposed to be to him?
A blast of fire from the ships offshore drew Mihawk's attention and he deflected. At the same time, a sudden pressure wave broke the air above him, rattling his senses and he braced. He looked up.
Mihawk saw it too late.
The chil-the clone he'd been observing during the assault had been temporarily disoriented by an explosion of conqueror's haki, leaving themselves open to attack. As Yoru repelled a barrage of cannonfire from the sea, Mihawk watched as the winged creature received a single, devastatingly powerful blow with a seastone weapon from its opponent, knocking them out of the sky.
Mihawk couldn't peel his eyes away. The Seraphim crashed into the scorched sandy beach of Karai Bari, its sword tumbling from its hand and stabbing the earth next to it. Then, there was a scream. Mihawk flinched and something tore through his very being, leaving a thrashing animal inside him in its wake. A child screamed in agony, and Mihawk's feet had never ran faster.
~~***~~
S-Hawk knew it was too late to correct. In that split-second slip up, he'd left himself open, and his opponent smashed into him. Everything went black for a moment and then just as quickly, the red warning signals flashed across his vision. It was too late. He dropped his sword He was falling out of the sky.
His back crashed into the ground. Warning signs and bells flashed in his mind. He couldn't focus on any of it to see what was wrong. All he knew, was that something was definitely wrong. All he could feel was…pain.
Terrible, agonizing pain.
The first time he'd ever felt such a thing.
The sensation overrode his automatic self defense systems and sent a million fold of electrical signals to a reflex he did not know he had. He screamed.
In that instant, every other protocol he had shattered, and S-Hawk screamed in agony. In hurt. In fear. He was frozen on the ground, unable to move, completely open to his enemies, and he was scared. His eyes became wet and burned. All he could do was scream and cry. Because it hurt so much.
~~***~~
Mihawk dashed over to where the Seraphim lay. Above in his periphery, the attacker was preparing a final blow. Mihawk willed every ounce of haki down his arm and into his sword and launched Yoru with that force of will directly in the path of the oncoming attack. The blade landed upright at the Seraphim's side, precisely where it needed to be to blow back the assault and send the attacker flying across the bay.
Mihawk arrived at the scene of the wailing creature. The wings were flared out in a crooked manner, feathers tangled in each other. The arms and hands scratched at the sand beneath, trying to grip something, while the legs bent and spasmed with the pain from the open wound in the torso, just below the ribcage. What he could only assume was blood, green and vibrant, seeped out and stained the pure white shirt. Mihawk then looked at the face, and he fell to his knees.
This was a child.
He leaned over the Seraphim, his hat blocking the sunlight from above. The sudden shadow caught the child's attention and the tear swollen eyes focused on him in shock. Mihawk could see the boy's fear and hurt, and that sight twisted his throat and collapsed his chest.
"It's okay," Mihawk said once he found his voice again.
The wailing suddenly stopped, turning into rapid whimpers as the child heard his words.
"It's okay, little one. I'm here."
The boy's breathing became calm and he stared at Mihawk, unblinking.
Mihawk couldn't look away from him. Everything stopped around him and was silenced as he gazed into the strange, yet familiar visage. He felt something click in his brain, sprouted from his very being, and it spread to his eyes and his vision and cleared away his old perceptions of the world.
This was his existence now. This was a clone made of him. This was his child.
A long whistle came from the distance, piercing the silence around him, and he turned his eyes upward at a cannonball heading straight for his head.
Before he could reach Yoru, the ball was sliced in two and detonated harmlessly along the beach. "Watch your back, old man!" Roronoa Zoro chided as the Straw Hats' swordsman landed gracefully beside him.
Mihawk ignored the annoyed look. "Zoro! Take his sword!"
Now there was a confused look. "What?"
Zoro did not get an explanation though because Mihawk picked up the wounded Seraphim as gently as he could, and ran from the beach to the treeline. Zoro could only follow with Yoru and the Seraphim's sword in his hands.
~~***~~
S-Hawk still felt the pain. He still felt the fear. The warning signs still flashed red across his mind. But, somehow, he felt calm.
As soon as he saw the shadow above him, as soon as he saw the face that was seared into his data banks, as soon as he saw the golden eyes…he felt calm wash over him. And he stopped screaming.
He never looked away from those eyes. He focused on them and it had a secondary effect on his life support systems. He wasn't sure how, but his body was able to run its diagnostic command and begin treating the injured area. The most critical internal damage was given priority and repaired to ensure he would not go into a stasis lock, but there was still a warning message that he needed external treatment.
S-Hawk kept that thought in his mind, but he wasn't as concerned anymore. He wasn't as scared. Those golden eyes shown on him as bright as the sun and he was made visible and seen by them, and he was going to be alright. He still didn't know how he knew that. He just did.
There was some shouting from somewhere, and then S-Hawk was picked up. The lift disturbed his wound somewhat and he grimaced, but he didn't cry. He only stayed focused on the eyes and the face of Dracule Mihawk, his prototype, as he was carried away. His head was leaning on the man's shoulder. He heard every racing breath, felt every pounding heartbeat. S-Hawk was soothed by the sensations and he almost cried out in protest when they disappeared while he was put down on the ground again.
They were now in the safety of the trees, no longer out in the open. The battle sounded so far away, and all his ears registered was Mihawk calling out for a medic.
A little creature with a funny-looking hat appeared at his side and began speaking about him with its high-pitched voice.
"He is bleeding, but the source seems to be sealing on its own."
"Can you help him, Chopper?"
"It looks like the internal damage is already taken care of somehow, but I still need to patch up the open wound so it doesn't worsen while he heals."
"Look out!"
The green-haired swordsman yelled out and dashed away to block what could only be another attack. S-Hawk couldn't see what was happening. He only heard the sounds of a counterattack by the swordsman and the sudden rushing of sand.
A dark canopy enveloped them, creating a barrier that sheltered them from any other assaults. S-Hawk recognized the looming figure of his sister's prototype, Sir Crocodile, standing over Mihawk. He didn't like the feel of the cold purple eyes, and sought out the warm gold instead.
"You're sure about this, Hawkeyes?"
"I was not going to leave him like that, Crocodile. He's just a child."
"Yes…he's your child, by the looks of it. Jinbe and Straw Hat are currently pushing the Navy back, so this is your last chance if you want to send him back to his commanders."
The golden eyes stared at S-Hawk, soft and determined, possessive and protective, completely different from the emotionless, analytical gazes S-Hawk was accustomed to.
"I will never do such a thing."
The eyes pierced into S-Hawk's own and he got the strange feeling of being exposed, opened up, as if his prototype could see every circuit, every command code, every warning signal, lacing S-Hawk's entire being. However, they also saw every feeling encapsulating him right now, every fear, every little hope that he didn't have to fight anymore, at least for today. Even though S-Hawk was completely silent, save for a rattled breath here and there, he felt he did not have to explain himself. He did not have to justify his tears or his screams earlier. He didn't have to ask for the safety he was hoping to receive among this band of targets he was sent here to eliminate. That initial directive had been strangely corrupted. He did not have to say anything, because his prototype already knew what he wanted. The golden eyes saw everything as it was.
The tiny medic continued to work. The tall Crocodile kept standing guard. S-Hawk was surrounded, but not by hostiles. He reached a shaky hand up, and Mihawk immediately took it in his own. He held onto the boy with one strong, powerful hand while the other stroked the white hair matted to the tear-stained face.
"It's okay. I'm here. You're safe with me."
S-Hawk smiled at his reflection in the golden eyes.
~~~~~~~~~
This idea attacked me at 4am this morning and would not let go until I wrote it down. It's just an alternative scenario to how Mihawk first meets S-Hawk. I don't know if I'll incorporate it into Talon's story or not, just playing around for now. Also pretending the Seraphim may not be as indestructible as they seem under certain circumstances lol.

Specter: "Have you seen Swordfish? I had some questions regarding the roster for the deployment tomorrow, best to get those inquiries done and settled before showtime, and all that."
Skadi: "I think I saw her with doctor Kal'tsit, they were going towards the dormitories together... Probably her room."
Specter: "Oh, wonderful, then I get to ask the two head honchos about it instead of just the left side of the brain, should make matters more simple."
Skadi: "Hey, now, wait a second, Laurentina. I said to slow down. Surely you don't mean to interrupt them?"
Specter: "Interrupt what? A strategic meeting? I dare think I have a voice in such sundry matters as much as anyone who is ordered to take cannonfire to the face in her duties on a nigh daily basis. The value I can add to any given conversation is not to be understated, my little Orca."
Skadi: "I'd consider that a complaint, where it to come from the mouth of anyone except you, Shark. But seriously, think about it a little... The two of them, alone, not in any of the meeting rooms or the offices, but rather in the dormitories. You can add those twos together with ease."
Specter: "Surely you jest, Orca? Are you suggesting that I could be so uncouth as to intentionally, naively, brazenly sling open the doors to the realm of intimacy between two entangled, probably very sweaty souls? Non-sense! I so confidently stride because I know that's not even a possibility!"
Skadi: "Elaborate. And seriously, slow down."
Specter: "Those two old wells haven't seen a trickle of moisture in years, I'd reckon. They are all-business, no non-sense, well oiled chaste tactical machines! Young, dumb and full of cum? Try old, cold, and full of mold! And I love them so, but let us be real for a microsecond, my little Orca, can you truly picture Swordfish and Miss Kal'tsit doing the Sargon Speedbump? Or the Laterano Excommunication? Perro Style? Get real, dearest, they are more likely to be playing checkers than they are to be making Bolivar Pancakes in there. And she's absolutely in there, reeks of that seawater with a tinge of warmth so characteristic of her behind this door."
Skadi: "First of all, never say any of those words ever again, but you're right, it smells like the Captain in there. There, past that door, with a plaque that very clearly reads 'Kal'tsit'. Let's, perhaps, mind our own business and just field your questions tomorrow early."
Specter: "You truly are insistent on these fantasies of yours, Skadi! It's so cute and endearing how you think that could even be possible! Ahem... Pardon, Swordfish, Miss Kal'tsit, I've got some inquiries regarding tomorrow's sortie that I was hoping to--"
*Specter opens the door and has a full frontal VIP seat peep at Gladiia running her hands deep inside of Kal'tsit's dress, half-lidded red eyes staring back at the intruding shark, straddling the doctor with her lithe yet strong frame, a cougar that's not yet had enough of its meal. The silence is filled only by greedy little gasps seeking to oxygenate two hearts that have very clearly not have had enough of each other just yet, an almost primal hunger in the two pairs of eyes that glared guillotines at the interloper, deafeningly silent yet clearly inquisitive as the trails of saliva that connected their lips lost its tension and threatened to snap*
Specter:
Skadi: "Hm. So, I tried to warn her, but--"
Specter: "Orca, look! Isn't it gallant, isn't it inspiring? Swordfish is hard at work, making a younger sibling for me! Oh, how splendid!"
Skadi: "LAURENTINA!"
Specter: "Oh, how simply joyous! Observe! Swordfish fully intends to cultivate that moist, fertile delta, and from it shall life spring! Orca, we'll care for a brave new Hunter soon, we must be on our best behavior and be good influ--"
Skadi: "With your pardon!"
*Skadi secures the interloping shark with a deft armlock and beats a hasty yet perfectly gallant retreat, closing the door behind her in such a hurry that the entirety of the landship shook. Many a Messenger on-board would remember this as the Localized Earthquake of 1099, which would go on to prompt emergency preparations for a sudden Catastrophe overnight, but that is a story for another time. Back in the dormitory room, as the younger Hunters exfiltrated themselves from the battlefield that was that room, after a cautionary yet eternal few minutes of silence and stillness, just in case that door decided to open again, the senior Hunter dismounted the doctor.*
Kal'tsit: "...Well? So what was that about?"
Gladiia: "My sincere apologies, Dame Kal'tsit, and you have my gratitude for having gone along with my drastic, sudden strategy."
Kal'tsit: "Don't worry about it. So?"
*Gladiia nods and, from a little corner behind Kal'tsit's bedside cupboard, carefully drags out a small table with a checkers board on it. The game is clearly quite progressed, with one side having a clear advantage.*
Gladiia: "I did not want Shark to see me, as some land-dwellers would put it, 'getting bodied' so badly in this showdown of ours."
Kal'tsit: "Because she would never let you hear the end of it?"
Gladiia: "Not for a couple of lifetimes, no."
Kal'tsit: "You have my sympathy and understanding, don't worry about it. Now..."
Gladiia: "...Yes. It's about time I reverse my fortune. Ready yourself, Dame Kal'tsit."
*Kal'tsit then proceeded to win the next game, as she did the previous seven, and they played lots more checkers afterwards*

The wedding
“Agatha, look.”
“At what?”
“The wedding.”
In fact, it was hard to miss the wedding, a simple procession out of a nearby church, a woman in a hand-sewn dress clutching the hand of a man whose cheeks were apple-red.
“So?”
Rio looked over with an amused sidelong glance, a smile playing havoc across her lips. “It looks nice. Romantic.” She emphasized the last word, then giggled as Agatha pulled an overdramatic grimace, partially her normal reaction to talk of romance, partially to elicit that exact giggle.
“It isn’t. Mostly it’s an economic transaction, some man marrying a much younger wom—“
“Agatha Harkness, marry me.”
“What?! No!”
Rio’s shrill laugh echoed across the village square, and then she was standing in front of Agatha, her smile a challenge, sabers rattling at dawn, the first volley of cannonfire. Her hands settled, one on Agatha’s hip, one on her cheek. “Agatha Harkness, beloved of Death. Marry me.”
Agatha was going to spontaneously combust. She was rooted to the ground, transfixed by the woman in front of her. “Rio, stop,” she pleaded, face flushed, eyes averted, unable to look Death in the face.
“Say yes.”
She managed a more characteristic snort of contempt, slightly undermined by her continued inability to make eye contact. “What, we’re going to march over to the village priest and demand he wed us before the Lord?”
Rio took one of her hands, pressed her lips to Agatha’s knuckles. “Before the moon and the Goddess, as witches have done for centuries. Marry me.”
Agatha’s heart pounded double, triple time. It was going to explode in her chest and she was going to explode with it, and thank the Goddess for that, because exploding would get her out of this conversation. “I—"
A woman’s voice interrupted them. “Art thou Agatha Harkness?”
Agatha whirled, incredibly grateful for the interruption. “I am—“ she surveyed the other woman, and felt the power radiating off of her. Even better, another witch. Perhaps the other woman would try to kill her, that would be an excellent distraction, maybe long enough for Rio to get some kind of short-term amnesia . “Sister.”
She was very aware of Rio still watching her, looking very unimpressed.
“Our coven has a seer who speaks the future. She says only you may assist us.”
That, at least, prompted shrill giggles from Rio, along with a quirked eyebrow from Agatha. “Does she? Only Agatha? Really?”
“Well,” Agatha hurried to say. “If the sisterhood has need, then I will attend at once. I cannot neglect my duty to my fellow witches.”
“Coward,” Rio murmured close to her ear. “We are not done with this discussion.”
Agatha flashed her a bright, toothy smile that indicated if she had anything to say about it, they were very done with this discussion.
“And who is this?” The other witch asked.
Agatha reached for Rio’s hand, twined their fingers together. “My lover,” she said, and smiled to feel the other woman’s fingers tighten convulsively on hers. “Where I go, she goes.” She glanced at Rio, and was briefly swallowed by the whirlpool of adoration in the other woman’s eyes, sucking her down. She forced her gaze away, turned back to the other witch with a thin smile.
“Always and forever,” Rio told her, then turned to the other witch. “Soon, we will be wed before the Goddess and the moon," she announced.
The other woman brightened, even as Agatha choked. “Wonderful! Perhaps while you stay with us? My coven loves weddings.”
"Perhaps so," Rio murmured, squeezing Agatha's hand. "And perhaps my beloved will get me a gift, worthy of our union."
"You can have the gift," Agatha said softly, as they set off after the other witch. "I'll happily kill them all for you. As many bodies as you like."
"And the other thing, Ags. I want the other thing."
"Rio..."
"Do you love me?"
"You know the answer."
"Do you wish another?"
"No!"
"Then?"
"You know I don't like..."
"Romance. Sap," Rio rolled the words around on her tongue, and there was something edged in her tone, a bite to her words. Normally Rio was content to play along with Agatha, but sometimes she could be pushed too far. "I know. Do it anyway. Do it for me. Bind yourself to me for a day, for an eternity, beloved. Promise yourself to me and let me promise to stay forever with you."
Agatha swallowed, mouth gone dry. "Vows like that are dangerous."
"Agatha Harkness, suddenly afraid of danger?" Rio teased, though Agatha noted she didn't deny the danger.
"You're very pushy today."
"I am, aren't I?" Rio murmured, running her thumb over the back of Agatha's hand, stroking over knuckles. "You know I normally let you do whatever you want, right?" Agatha felt her cheeks heat further, volcanic levels of heat, alongside a squirming discomfort. "Push me around, drag me to and fro, assist in your slightly insane plan of the week—"
"Okay, you've made your point, where is this going?"
"I want this, Ags. I really, really want it."
"...I'm not getting out of this one, huh?"
Rio shook her head. "Doesn't seem like it."
"...Fine."
Agatha came to a halt, stood on a dusty road country behind a witch who hadn't yet noticed they had stopped. "Rio Vidal, beloved of Agatha Harkness," she said, dropping to one knee, Rio's hand clenched suddenly tight to the point of pain around hers. "Before the Goddess and the Moon, marry me. Pledge yourself to me and I to you."
Rio's breath caught, her hand flew over her mouth and for a moment, both Death and Time stood still.
"Yes," she squeaked.
"Good," Agatha said, popping to her feet, brushing dirt casually off her dress. "Come on, let's go see what this seer wants. And then we'll have a wedding to die for."
It took Rio a matter of minutes to say, "Agatha, that was terrible."
"I thought it was rather romantic."
"...The pun." Her hand squeezed tight on Agatha's. "...The proposal was very, very romantic."
"Feel free not to bring it up ever again."
Rio's smile slanted like the blade of a guillotine, crawling up one side of her mouth, but all she said was, "Yes, beloved."

The seer held Agatha's hand in hers, eyes closed, chanting softly, as Agatha rolled her eyes at Rio, who barely tried to suppress her giggles, still giddy from their earlier conversation.
The old woman's eyes snapped open, irises gone white. "Agatha Harkness," she intoned. "You will save the world."
"Oh," Agatha said. "Not really my area—"
"And in doing so, you will gain great wisdom and power."
Agatha's attention snapped to the old woman. "Tell me more, wise one."
"Agatha," Rio murmured.
"Ssh."
"We're still getting married, right?"
"Sure," Agatha agreed. "Right after I save the world."
