"I'll be back on Monday! No funny business, no parties, and the pizza money is in the drawer by the hallway!" Wade shouted, slamming the car door before walking away.

"Finally," Logan muttered, his gaze still fixed on the windshield, his face impassive.

I glanced at Laura in the rearview mirror. Even if he'd never admit it, Logan enjoyed Wade and his antics in his own way.

"So, how’s it going at the Institute?" I asked Laura, hoping to break the heavy silence.

“It’s fine,” she replied, stopping at a red light, her eyes glued to the road.

Logan eventually broke the silence, almost reluctantly. “It’s a good place. They can help you settle in.”

“You guys are welcome too,” she retorted as the light turned green. “They could help you with your powers. Besides, they’re short-staffed. They could use someone to handle a bunch of teens… especially teens with superpowers,” she added, casting a pointed look at Logan.

He clenched his jaw. “That’s all behind me.”

In the rearview mirror, I saw Laura’s face fall slightly, as if she regretted bringing it up. A bitter silence settled, heavy with memories. I knew that as soon as we got dropped off, Logan would probably head straight to a bar to forget.

“How about we order a pizza?” I suggested to the two mutants in the front, hoping to lighten the mood.

They glanced back at me in the mirror, a fleeting smile on their faces.

A few hours later, we were all sprawled out on the couch, surrounded by pizza boxes scattered on the coffee table.

“Comedy or horror?” Laura asked, the remote in one hand and a slice of pineapple pizza in the other.

“Put on whatever you want,” Logan replied, cracking open another beer.

She looked at me for my opinion, and I just shrugged with a smile, content with the relaxed vibe. She scrolled through the options on the screen. Beside me, Logan was relaxed, his dark eyes fixed on the TV. The white T-shirt he was wearing suited him surprisingly well, and I could feel his arm brushing against mine, an innocent but electrifying touch.

With each quick glance at him, memories of the bar came back to me, and I found myself imagining what might have happened if Wade hadn’t interrupted us. These thoughts wrapped me in a warm haze.

Finally, Laura settled on a horror movie. *Scream*, a classic, perfect for a pizza night. But I was having a hard time focusing. My attention kept drifting back to Logan, sitting so close.

“These kids are so stupid,” Logan muttered, taking a swig of his beer.

“That’s what everyone says watching horror movies, but I’m not sure teenage me would’ve done any better,” I replied, grabbing another slice of pizza. “Between rehearsals and dance classes, I barely had time to sleep. Killing someone… well, that was even less likely.”

He smirked. “That explains so much.”

"Right? So, tell us about teenage you in Canada, back when there was no electricity or running water," I teased with a playful smile.

Laura was watching us, a smile on her face, finding our exchange more interesting than the movie. Logan and I exchanged a few knowing smiles before she stood up.

“I’m gonna grab a soda,” she said, slipping into the kitchen and leaving us alone in this intimate moment.

"She’s great," I said, watching the door she had just disappeared through.

“Yeah,” he replied, his face hardening, his thoughts clearly elsewhere.

“Hey,” I said, placing my hand on his, reminding him of our promise from the bar.

He looked up at me, surprised. “I’m okay,” he murmured. “But… sometimes, it all just gets to be too much.”

I nodded, feeling the depth of his unease.

“I know.” My thumb brushed his hand softly. His gaze, dark and intense, held secrets he dared not share.

I looked up, and our eyes met. His usually guarded stare softened, revealing fatigue and invisible scars. He broke the silence, his voice low:

“It’s rare… to feel this good.”

He squeezed my hand gently, as if to reassure himself that this moment was real.

Our gazes locked, the silence between us loaded with unspoken emotions. I felt almost trembling under his look. Logan, usually so distant, was looking at me differently, with a glimmer I’d never noticed before.

“Hey,” Laura said, coming back from the kitchen and breaking the spell between Logan and me. “Sorry, but I have to go,” she announced, holding up her phone.

“Everything okay?” Logan asked, his face concerned.

“Yeah, I totally forgot my friend Taylor was supposed to help me with my shopping.”

Logan nodded with a murmur, but his skepticism was clear. “Take some pizza with you; there’s too much for the two of us,” I said, quickly getting up to pack some for her.

“Thanks,” she said, grabbing the boxes. “Tonight was fun… we should do it again sometime.” I nodded, smiling, holding the door open for her as she struggled with the boxes. “See you soon.”

Logan and I, now alone, stood there, our eyes fixed on the closed door for a moment. “That was a lie, right?” Logan asked.

“You never lied to go see your crush?” I shot back with a mischievous smile.

“So, you were one of those bad girls who lied to mess with boys?” he replied, his intense gaze locked onto mine.

My breathing quickened, my body warming. My breath was short; I wanted nothing more than to throw myself at him and kiss him.

“I… I need to go to the laundry room,” I said, unable to hold his gaze any longer, using the excuse of a basket of dirty laundry left out.

He nodded, seeming to collect himself, and watched me pick up the basket as I fled. “I’ll take a shower,” he said as I darted out of the apartment.

When I got to the hallway, I realized I’d forgotten the detergent in my hurry. Returning to the apartment, I walked straight into Logan, shirtless, coming out of the bathroom.

“Sorry… I forgot the…” I was unable to look away from his hairy chest and toned muscles.

Orm let out a breath, seeing it as it drifted into the snow-covered forest. It was getting dark soon so he better head back to the house. Everyone would be arriving soon, and he wanted some time to get ready. He piled the wood onto the sled and called for Rex to get moving. The Pyrenees barked and started walking back through the trees to their home. He unloaded the wood into the shed, grabbing a few for the fire and walked into the mudroom of the cabin. The wood went into the holder, his hat and gloves into the cubby and his coat on the hook. The dog ran deeper into the house, and he heard the joyous laugh of a baby and smiled. The mudroom led into the kitchen where Y/N was standing by the counter, decorating a cake meticulously.

“It looks and smells amazing,” Orm said, walking over and kissing her head. She took some of the frosting and made to let him lick it off her finger. He leaned in and she poked his nose with it instead, laughing.

“Your nose was red, wanted to give it a blanket,” she teased. He laughed, wiping his face and stealing the bowl of icing from her as revenge. “Orm! I cannot chase you in this condition!” she said, motioning to her stomach, just barely a bump showing. He set the bowl down again, but not before taking some and eating it. “Go see your son, get yourselves ready for the party.”

Orm headed into the living room and lifted his two-year-old son from the playpen, carrying him up the stairs. If you would have told Orm five years ago, but when he and Y/N took off from Maine in the night that he would be living in north end of Yukon Canada with a son and a daughter on the way he would he laughed. They had been so scared for the first year, moving at night, staying away from the water and major cities, not sure if Atlantians tourists would see them. They didn’t talk to anyone, dropping communication with Arthur, Aria, Atlanna, everyone. They were in Alberta, just roaming, when Y/N found out she was pregnant and they decided to find a place and settle, at least for a while.

They bought some land outside a small town and built a cabin, adding to it when they needed the room. Now it was just enough for them and their children, and Y/N even got to open another café in the town, becoming popular quickly since she was the only place to get decent coffee. Despite all their safety and happiness, they still wanted to see their family and friends again. Orm took it upon himself to get back in touch with Arthur and the others, inviting them to surprise Y/N with a birthday party. She still thought that evening was going to be just her, Orm, and Naut.

Orm put Naut, named for Y/N’s father, in the tub and helped him get cleaned up before dressing him in his pajamas. No reason for him to be uncomfortable when he was meeting new people.

“Play in your room while I get dressed ok?” Orm said, sending him off. He dressed and was just getting finished when Y/N came in.

“The cake looks great. Still don’t know why you requested so much, its just us,” she said, getting a dress on. No matter if it was just them, she still dressed up for birthdays, wanting to celebrate them as much as she could.

“That cake will be gone in the morning, and you know it, now we can enjoy it for a few more days,” he said, pulling her to him, kissing her softly. His hands drifted to rear, pulling her against him. “I know you just put the dress on…” he whispered, kissing down her neck. She giggled, pushing him back gently.

“You can rip it off me later alright?” she said, kissing him again. There was a knock. “Who…who is possibly here?” Orm shrugged and waited for her to turn before smiling. She went to get Naut, wanting him close in case whoever was at the door was a threat. Orm answered, smiling at his brother who pulled him into a hug instantly. He led them into the kitchen where Y/N waited, eyes filling with tears. Everyone filed in, Orm reuniting with his family and getting reintroduced to AJ and to Arthur’s other 2 children. Atlanna was holding one with Tom holding the other. Aria, Dean, and their child walked in after and looked at Y/N holding Naut still.

“O God, Orm procreated,” Aria said, leaning to Dean for drama. She ran over, hugging Y/N gently and looking at Naut. “He’s beautiful, so blond.”

“It’s a very strong gene that hair,” Y/N agreed. “This one will probably match.” She patted her stomach and Aria squealed. “Now, can everyone quiet down for a second?” The group looked at her. Orm smiled.

“I thought, it’s been long enough, our family should be able to see us,” he said, moving over to her. She nodded and looked at him.

“Thank you, this is great,” she said. He kissed her softly before letting Atlanna come over. Y/N gently handed Naut to her, telling him that this was his grandma. He seemed nervous but soon warmed to the queen.

“He looks just like Orm did at this age, is he trouble? Orm was trouble,” she said. Y/N nodded. Orm and Arthur stepped aside as everyone kind of sectioned off, finding food or exploring the cabin.

“I’m glad you called,” Arthur said. He watched as AJ and his other kids played with Aria’s child and Naut while Aria, Atlanna, Mera, and Y/N watched them from the couch. Tom and Dean were discussing the cabin, looking at the fireplace. “This is amazing, who knew my dick of a little brother would be capable of all this.”

“It wasn’t just me,” Orm said. “Y/N is what brought this about.” Arthur shook his head.

“It isn’t just her either. You were already doing the work, trying to be a better man. That’s why she chose you,” Arthur said. Orm nodded with a smile. He went to the stereo and turned on a song. Y/N looked up as he approached, offering her his hand.

“Care to dance?” he asked. She smiled wide and nodded, taking his hand. He pulled her close, hand to her waist, the other in her hand. “Does this make you happy?” She nodded, kissing him softly.

“Yes, this makes me happy, you make me happy.”

Hey, people of Canada — if you’re struggling to get through the day, the Trudeau government wants you to know . . . it’s done great things. At least that seems to be the approach the governing Liberals are taking at a moment when half the country is living paycheck to paycheck, enduring punishing debt, and weathering a housing and homelessness crisis, while working families increasingly rely on food banks to get by.

In response to all this, the Liberals are resting on their laurels and promising solutions to come. In fairness to them, they are almost certainly working on something, but that’s cold comfort to those who are struggling to pay their rent and stock their kitchen cupboards right now. After eight years of the Liberal Party in power, Canadians are, more than reasonably, asking whether they’re getting a fair shake.

Iconic American homeware brand closing its last US factory after 76 years to move jobs to Mexico in huge blow to rural South Carolina town

Tupperware, the iconic American brand known the world over for its plastic food containers, is closing its last US factory.

The 78-tear-old company, who intially sold its products at parties thrown by surburban housewives, plans to take advantage of cheaper wages in Mexico.

The factory in the small town of Hemingway in South Carolina has produced billions of the kitchen-cabinet staples since it opened 48 years ago.

The closure - which was announced Thursday and will take effect later this year - is a huge blow to the 148 workers at the Williamsburg County plant.

Production will be moved to Lerma in Mexico, where the company says it already makes items for the US and Canada.

Tupperware was founded in 1946 by chemist Earl Tupper - whose airtight pastic containers helped food last longer for families still struggling after the war and the Great Depression.

Might need to revamp my Georgia backstory ideas, if only because my previous interpretations of how she ended up where she is at the start of the game have all...lacked something, for me. Sorry, we're going to be rehearsing the 'why Georgia's marriage was such a mess' thing.

So, let's do this, one more time.

In this version of events, Sam Adams is bi, but repressed about it, because the disappointing gay dead husband is a very tired trope indeed, and if he'd been gay...actually, their relationship would probably have worked out a lot better for all involved.

So, he and Georgia meet in college. At this point, Georgia isn't a firebrand. She's an ambitious, hustling young law student, who wants to make a living and maybe even a fortune and get ahead. She became radicalised only after a few years as a defence lawyer - in the beginning, she went for defence mostly because it seemed like a quick way to pay off her student loans (of which there were many). Sam was an engineering student at CIT, and they met at a party where they wound up discussing Grognak vs the Silver Shroud in the kitchen until kicking-out time. He came from a conservative military family, but was questioning that now that he was at college, and Georgia - immigrant from a rough part of New York and raised with views that were pretty far left for the place and time they were in even if she wasn't living up to them that well yet - was excitingly different from anything he'd known, but not enough as to be threatening. On Georgia's side, she went for him for...many of the same reasons Buffy Summers went for Riley Finn in college: he seemed a nice, wholesome, clean-cut sort of guy, in contrast with an adolescence and early college years where she'd...mostly gone for the bad boy type, and gotten badly burned doing it. There was an attraction there, even if she sort of had to work at it, and that was good enough for them to start going out.

It probably wouldn't have lasted past Georgia's graduation, if they hadn't had a condom break, and...well, the worst happened. Sam proposed, very determined to do the honourable thing, and Georgia accepted because being an unwed mother in pre-war American society was not great, and nor was legal access to abortion and she had heard enough horror stories about the backstreet option that she didn't want to take the risk. So they duly married and did all that was proper...and very shortly after the wedding, Georgia miscarried. Messily. I mentioned having Shaun was difficult on her, and this was no less so, and medically she probably shouldn't have tried again. Which left them sort of stuck with each other, because divorce was also...not especially favourably looked on, and as Massachusetts didn't introduce no-fault divorce until the '70s in our world, I'm going to go ahead and say that that wasn't a thing for them here.

As it turned out, they were both a lot happier being married when their spouse was a long way away. For Sam, it was psychologically beneficial to think of his girl back home, to have that to cling to as a source of strength, even if, over the years, that image he had of her grew more distant both from Georgia as she was, and from Georgia as she had actually been when they married. It was...as psychologically necessary for him to put a rosier gloss on their relationship as it was for him to try and at least pretend to believe the justifications for the things he was doing in Canada and on the Anchorage campaign. Georgia, meanwhile, enjoyed the practical benefits of being married to a respectable soldier from a military family with a long, proud heritage and at least a few uncles and cousins who'd made it to high rank. (There was a reason they were living comfortable in Sanctuary Hills, which seems to have been a pretty plush area, rather than in a cramped apartment in Concord, after all.) One of which was not being accused of Communist sympathies as she became more radical in her views and connections and her work brought her into conflict with more and more powerful forces - though, of course, that couldn't and didn't protect her forever, and her firm's collapse also meant that she was unofficially blackballed from Boston's legal community. Possibly there was even a little leaning to ensure that - nobody in the extended Adams clan wanted the scandal of Sam's wife being accused of Communist sympathies, particularly not given Sam had been decorated a couple of times during his service, but nobody wanted the scandal of her carrying on with the work that drew those accusations either.

Their years apart essentially radicalised Georgia, but made Sam cleave more closely to orthodoxy and the establishment, because if it was good, then he didn't need to be broken with guilt for what he had been a part of. He had terrible PTSD and nightmares - no amount of self-justification could keep the guilt away for long, and the memory was there whatever happened. Georgia was deeply depressed by the loss of her work and the apparent meaninglessness of all her efforts. They barely spoke to each other, the last few months they were together, and when they did, it was the merest commonplace. Neither was willing to confide in the other, mostly out of guilt - Georgia for having cheated on him a few times while he was away, Sam for the things he had done in Anchorage. They probably couldn't have carried on like that forever, but whatever would have come next, the bombs put an end to it.

Hometober Day 2 Today's prompt is "A home, not yours" This is based on a memory from Christmas shortly after we moved to Canada. This was a fun piece, a memory I don't talk about often only because it's quite random aha. More info under a read more, but otherwise I hope you enjoy!

We were staying at an aunt's home until the holidays passed, we were in Toronto for maybe 3 weeks at most. I don't remember much of the house itself, just the kitchen and dining room and the guest room where my family stayed. For whatever reason I was happy to play on my own in our room with the lights out. I had the door cracked open, but I was too overwhelmed to join the party down the hall [I was very shy as a kid though almost no know I know today would believe me haha]. I was too scared to open my gift but one of my cousins who was visiting Toronto with his mom talked me into opening it. It was a Play-Doh cake-making kit and we made cakes together for a time until our parents came to get us to eat. Despite the blue tones, I was actually enjoying myself there. I loved my cousins, all my family members that I was meeting for the first time were very kind to me. I was just overwhelmed, couldn't blame a 3-year-old for trying to learn a new language and just enjoying what was in front of me. I just remember the room being so cool and dark, the closest I was to being covered in darkness before the fear of it actually developed [I'm a bit better now, but back then I had a nightlight throughout most of elementary and early middle school]. A lot has changed since then, I'm 20 years older, that house isn't owned by that couple, they actually divorced not long ago and their sons are both in college and travelling. I doubt they'd remember much from then, but since it was the first taste of what a home could be in Canada I have a fondness for it. I remember the room feeling very stuffy due to all the extra storage stuff and all our baggage in there. I really had no idea how much more moving I'd be doing in my life, but such is life in general. If you've read this far, thank you! Have a great day <3

“Work Among the Unemployed Youth!” Young Worker.  June 15th, 1931. Page 3. ---- By N. Freed ---- Work among the unemployed cannot be overestimated. The Unemployed situation in Canada has taken on a real mass character. We can expect a much worse situation this coming winter as employment is continually on the decline. Unemployment is the cause of the whole working class today. We cannot carry on work among the employed workers in the shop unless we win the confidence of the unemployed workers - both are very closely linked up. Any underestimation of this work is just as dangerous and wrong as the underestimation of the work among the employed workers. This work has not been given the fullest consideration by our league as a whole. There was no national program worked out for this field of activity, as a result each district carried on work of its own. About a year ago or so our approach to the work among the unemployed wrong was entirely wrong. We issued general slogans such as $25,00 for married men, $18.00 for single men young workers. This of course could not bring us any results. It was only when we started to develop our demands on a more concrete basis, such as meal tickets, bed tickets etc. that we were successful in many cases to rally and win the confidence of the workers. Then we had the task of linking this up with the major demands such as non-contributory state unemployment insurance campaign. In this district because of the fact that this was realized at the beginning of last winter we can record some very good achievements. The unemployed workers in Winnipeg fully realize that it was as a result of the leadership given by the party and league that they have received some "relief." 

The methods of "relief” on the part of the boss class in their division of single and married men makes it rather difficult to define the actual demands of the young workers as in the category of single men there are both young and adult workers. The amount of relief they receive and the provisions under which they receive it are identical. Because of this situation it makes it also difficult on the organizational field. You could not organize youth sections in the employed association, you would have to organize single men and married men. This of course is not advisable. This does not necessarily mean that there are no specific youth demands amongst the unemployed youth. There are for instance discrimination against young workers. If their fathers are receiving relief or they have dependents they are denied any kind of relief. Particularly is this true among the unemployed girls, The girls are forced to accept house work and farm work just for their meals and if they refuse this they are cut off entirely and given no relief.

It is very difficult to organize the unemployed girls particularly as they don't hang out in the slave markets, soup kitchens and very few of them go to the employment agencies.

Those girls that we did succeed in drawing into our ranks because of lack of attention and also be cause of the uninteresting meeting dropped out. This proves to us that we have to find more attractive means to keep young workers in our unemployed associations, such as sports, etc. The to get best way to keep unemployed workers both the youth and adult work unemployed associations The by proving to them that this organization is fighting for their immediate demands. In Winnipeg, for instance there are about 3,000 unemployed workers in this association. A great number of them are young workers. This is because the unemployed association is continually taking up the grievances of the unemployed with the city authorities. There is a special grievance apartment set up for this purpose.

The Relief assigned by the governments Federal, Provincial and Municipal was to be direct relief, but the authorities found that it was more profitable for them to create relief jobs of all kinds. Most of them being of a non-productive character under the pretense that direct relief would spoil the moral of the people.

Unemployed workers are being entirely forced to work several days a week for this so-called "relief". At the present time the number of days of work have been increased while the relief has been cut down to a minimum. The single men are being forced into soup kitchens and flop house The married men's allowances have been cut. The task of the unemployed organization is that of carrying on a struggle against the soup kitchens and also to develop strikes on these relief jobs.

The coming National convention of the league has one of its tasks to work out a concrete program of demands for the Unemployed Youth to nationalize the work, to find suitable forms of work in order to keep the unemployed young work in our organizations. This question has got to be given very close consideration. It is necessary to make a study of the number of unemployed youth in Canada. Today we find that about 50 per cent of the working youth in Canada are unemployed and a great number are part time. This field of work is a very fruitful field for our league and party and much more consideration must be given to this question.

“Activities Among the Young Miners,” Young Worker. June 15th, 1931. --- By J. Tr ---- The activities of the YCL among the young miners was not stressed much at the unit meetings of the Lethbridge Sub-district. When circulars in this respect were sent out by the DEC the comrades took the matter up followed by very little discussion or no discussion at all and passed up with the feeling that there wa not much more to be done. It has even been proven where members took very lule part in Trade Union meetings. There was not much done in get- contacts with young miners.

We find that under the present conditions it is very easy to get contacts through talking with individuals about their everyday grievances. We have tried to get contacts by holding socials but little was accomplished, due to the fact. that the young miners took no interest in these socials. Just lately we have found out that much better results be gotten through having all members trying individual contacts with their miner friends.

Despite this there is no official listing by VS on there website, any of the fan-made catelogues or through there smut label Musiline. My best guess is that it didn't survive the transfer when they seperated there adult content in 2022

Speaking of lack of information there is only three people credited in the film. Gene Rowland, Lynn Harris, and Sheri Jackson. Interestingly while this was not any of there first films it was very early in all three of there careers. The rest of the actors, (by my count about 6), are unknown. I would say they are uncredited but there are no credits for this film.

So who is Topar Films.

Founded in california in either 1970 or 1971, (the records are a bit confusing in terms of timeline), Topar Films INC, was created by Tom Parker.

Richard Haines mentions it in passing in his book "The Moviegoing experience 1968-2001" as a distibutor of explotation and cheap kids films and various other mentions to there ouvre tend to be there on there pulp films Such as SS Girls (1977), a Naziplotation film, Sudden Death (1977), a action film set in the south pacific, and of course Aphrodisiac!: The Sexual Secret of Marijuana(1971).

While these works were in the softcore genre there is some evidence that the Parkers were involved with the porn distrubution scene in LA. In 1971 the San Rafeal Daily discribes a Raid on there offices. Two years later in 1973 there listed in Harmer vs A Motion Picture Film Entitled "The Devil in Miss Jones, et al" as a one of the parties involved in a "Hydra", essentially a pornography ring distrubiting the film between a series of private residents and cinemas. Its unknown what tom parkers exact role was in this porno conspiracy.

Despite the legal woes Topar Films appears to have done fairly well for themselves. They opened 4 regional branches in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and Canada. It is unknown when exactly Topar Films disbanded. Business Records are spotty and also I'm too tired to learn what all those acronyms mean.
