"We're finally on the field, we've had quite a run--" "Immigrants, we get the job done!"
American founding father musical x green triangle cosmic horror ttrpg was not on my 2024 bingo card but, uh, sorry LMAO I kept looping Hamilton during my internship and both Finan and Gavrill/Hrothgar are Canadian immigrants, sooooo...
I've been so busy, I first made the file for this drawing on 29 Aug and only finished it exactly a month later. But I've only really worked on it in the past few days, how embarassing :') process shots and a bit of rambling are under the cut!
The original idea was to have the background white, but then I accidentally inverted the white bits of the background which made it go black, and I thought it looked pretty cool! This was really a trust-the-process drawing, too. The lines are nice, but I wasn't really feeling it until I accidentally made the background black LOL
Both guys are wielding the guns they use the most in the game. Gavrill has a RPK-74 Kalashnikov (light automatic rifle with 10% lethality, something he's used to from fighting in Chechen wars), while Finan has an SPAS-12 (shotgun, model made by Griefyn on Sketchfab).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finan 🤝 Gavrill dubiously straight male wifeguys who immigrated from an Islamic region to Canada for a better life only to end up working at an organisation that fights the Unnatural, lose their partner who's firecly skilled in a field of study (and their partners' lost is a part of a bigger conspiracy), wear wedding band(s) to commemorate said partner, never properly processed their grief and guilt so it turns into some flavour of obsession, are/were pretty depressed ngl without being mechanically depressed, but pretend everything's fine with their immediate family. I swear they are different characters LMAO
Also, I worked on this in Indonesia, Canada, and on the flight from the latter to the former (sponsored by The White Vault). Packing my bigass screen tablet away while the plane was suddenly hit with wild turbulene was NOOOT fun HAHA I'm telling you, my bag and I were some centimeteres off the air before I crashed to the ground so hard, I was forced on my knee (and the seatbelt light was off before that lmao)

i guess i'm a touch late but,
2023 was a truly amazing year for me. i feel so blessed to be healthy and alive and experiencing the beauty in the world in spite of all the setbacks i've had over the years.
i was able to travel to canada and see the breathtaking rocky mountains three times this year. my wife was able to visit with me as well, and two of my best friends from out of state traveled down to visit me/us over the summer. our immigration decision will be handed down very soon, and we will finally be able to close this difficult chapter of our lives for good.
my brother and sister-in-law blessed our family with another child over the summer and he is precious in every way. my niece continues to be a joy to watch grow and engage with the world. i got a better job, with much higher pay, a wonderful team of coworkers, and a very generous work-life balance. i picked up running again this year, feeling finally healthy enough to move my body in ways i hadn't been able to in an entire decade, and even started racing again. i'm running a marathon in april with some friends. i go to the gym at work every weekday. i have been hiking and snowboarding. i've taken up learning the irish language, i've re-committed to learning how to draw, and i've been making and maintaining healthy habits slowly over the year. i have friends i see regularly and most days i forget my computer even exists, which is surreal to me as someone who used to be extremely dependent on, probably addicted to, social media and video games as escapism.
my mental health is practically perfect, not even a whisper of depression or anxiety, thanks entirely to my diet, which has in turn allowed an upward spiral of productivity and genuine living that has driven me past merely not being ill, into the territory of being near-constantly joyful and deeply at peace with myself.
i got a tattoo which has become a source of confidence and assurance, a small but bold reminder that i am strong enough to be true to myself and live my life honestly and for the benefit of my family and community. i have brought healing to many people this year and my hope is that the effects continue to ripple outwards into the world over and over.
nearly nothing bad happened to me or my loved ones in 2023. it was easily the best year of my life and i genuinely believe 2024 will be even better. normally i'd cry out not to jinx it, but i believe it will be better because i am better, and i will continue to shape better and better versions of myself. i hope this year will be good for everyone else, too.

Dec 4, 2024
The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau knew what he had to do. So did META founder Mark Zuckerberg. Even Argentina’s firebrand president, Javier Milei, and the wife of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu showed up. Onto their private planes and into their dripped-out Escalades, each person made their way to the palatial kingdom of Mar-a-Lago. And they kissed the ring.
The times, they are truly a-changing.
For Trudeau, who has hammered away at Trump the man and Trump the politician, this was a humiliation ritual. Often America’s fiercest critic, the Canuck leader bowed before our returning president with a meekness that admitted the occasion. As much as Canada likes to beat its chest in defiance of its southern bedmate, they’d be lost in their winter wonderland without our good graces.
Trudeau made the long trip south amid the president-elect’s threats to levy a 25 percent tariff on Canada should the nation’s leadership fail to crack down on the movement of illegal immigrants and fentanyl into the U.S. When Trudeau informed Trump that the rumored 25 percent tariff would devastate the Canadian economy, the 47th president jokingly replied, “If Canada can’t survive without ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion a year, then maybe Canada should become the 51st state and Trudeau could become its governor.”
Watching Trudeau grovel for crumbs at the foot of the replenished American table, I couldn’t help but draw parallels to the infamous scene in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather when Amerigo Bonasera pleads with Don Corleone to make right what the courts will not.
“You found paradise in America,” says Marlon Brando, his jaws puffed full of cotton balls and rage. “You had a good trade, you made a good living. The police protected you and there were courts of law. So you didn’t need a friend like me. Now you come and say ‘Don Corleone, give me justice.’ But you don’t ask with respect. You don’t offer friendship. You don't even think to call me ‘Godfather.’”

The first event of 2024 will feature renowned sculptor Marie Khouri who will share her incredible personal story of creativity through the lens of the global theme RISE.
Born in Egypt and raised in Lebanon, Marie Khouri relays messages of movement, community, and connection through her artworks. As an immigrant spending time across Europe before truly settling in Canada, Khouri’s work speaks to a unified and diverse audience, creating sculptures that unify communities. With her works rooted in a profound sense of dislocation and the search for a greater sense of place, her sculptures are formed through extensive hands-on process that employs traditional sculpting techniques alongside contemporary innovations in material and building standards. Khouri was just honoured as the Award of Distinction in the 2023 Applied Art + Design Awards by BC Achievement Foundation.
Every month we ask our speaker a handful of probing questions to give us a deeper glimpse into their life and relationship with creativity:
How do you define creativity and apply it in your life and career? When asked about how I define creativity and apply it in my life and career, I express that for me, creativity is not just a sporadic occurrence but an everyday phenomenon. It permeates various aspects of my life, from the way I dress and cook to my behavior and work. I draw inspiration from everyday things, whether it be an image, a reading, or a simple walk, emphasizing the importance of finding creativity in the ordinary.
Where do you find your best creative inspiration or energy? Reflecting on where I find my best creative inspiration or energy, I stress that inspiration often stems from everyday experiences, such as images, readings, or walks—especially those by the sea. I emphasize the significance of not merely looking at things but truly seeing them, delving beneath the surface. Ultimately, I highlight the pivotal moment when I can apply this creative inspiration in the studio, manifesting it into the everyday things I create.
What’s one piece of creative advice or a tip you wish you’d known as a young person? In response to the question about creative advice for young individuals, I suggest embracing every moment and experience, emphasizing that tips and advice are valuable additions to one’s creative journey. Stressing the importance of taking life one step at a time.
Who (living or dead) would you most enjoy hearing speak at CreativeMornings? When asked about the dream speaker at CreativeMornings, I express a desire to hear Louise Bourgeois, citing her groundbreaking contributions to sculpture and feminist art during her time. I appreciate her ability to break the mold, highlighting her role as an abstract expressionist in feminist art.
What did you learn from your most memorable creative failure? Answering the question about the most memorable creative failure, I share the lesson learned—that accidents can lead to creative successes. I draw a parallel to Bob Ross’s philosophy that there are no creative mistakes, only happy accidents. I emphasize the iterative nature of art, where mistakes can often pave the way for unique and creative outcomes.
What fact about you would surprise people? Regarding a surprising fact about myself, I reveal that I speak five languages, worked as an interpreter before becoming an artist, and even had a background in finance. This unexpected facet adds depth to my identity beyond the realm of art.
How does your life and career compare to what you envisioned for your future as a sixth grader? When asked to compare my life and career to the visions I had as a sixth grader, I explain that, due to existing in a difficult reality during a civil war in my home country, I was incapable of dreaming at that age. This experience shaped my perspective on life and dreams.
How would you describe what you do in a single sentence to a stranger? “I play with clay,” encapsulating the essence of my artistic endeavors.
If you could open a door and go anywhere, where would that be? In response to the hypothetical scenario of opening a door and going anywhere, I express a desire to be in my home, Paris, France..
What keeps you awake at night? Delving into what keeps me awake at night, I humorously attribute it to my “creative juices,” emphasizing the constant flow of ideas and inspiration that fuels my artistic endeavors.
What are you proudest of in your life? When asked about what I am proudest of in my life, I unequivocally cite my children as my greatest source of pride, followed by my achievements in public art.
What has been one of your biggest Aha! moments in life? Recalling one of my biggest “Aha!” moments in life, I share the profound experience of witnessing the installation of my first public art piece—VANTAGE—a moment that solidified the impact of my creative contributions.

About Wave Immigration Consultant
Tumblr media
1. Introduction
Canada continues to be one of the most sought-after destinations for skilled immigrants. The Express Entry system remains at the forefront of Canada’s immigration policy, with the aim of selecting candidates for permanent residency through a points-based Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
As the new year begins, Canada Immigration has already resumed issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to qualified candidates under the Express Entry system, continuing to prioritize those with enhanced Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) and French-language proficiency. The continued focus on these groups has significant implications for candidates applying to immigrate to Canada.
In this blog, we will take a closer look at the Express Entry draws that took place in December 2024, the distribution of CRS scores in the pool, and what it all means for applicants. We’ll also highlight the role that Wave Immigration Consultant can play in navigating this complex process.
2. Overview of Express Entry Draws in December 2024
In December 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a total of three draws. Here’s a summary of the draws that took place:
Draw Number
Date
Draw Type
ITAs Issued
CRS Cut-off Score
328
December 2, 2024
Provincial Nominee Program
676
705
329
December 3, 2024
French-language proficiency
800
466
330
December 16, 2024
Provincial Nominee Program
1,085
727
In total, 2,561 ITAs were issued in December, marking a sharp decline from the 5,507 ITAs issued in November and the 5,961 ITAs issued in October. This downward trend in invitations highlights a slower pace in the Express Entry draws as the department prepares to meet its landing targets for 2025.
3. How December 2024’s Draws Differ from Previous Months
December 2024 saw a stark contrast in the number of ITAs issued compared to the previous months of October and November. While the system averaged six draws per month in the latter half of 2024, only three draws were held in December. The low number of draws and the lower number of ITAs issued can be attributed to several factors, including a reduction in Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws.
The focus on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates and those with French-language proficiency was consistent with the patterns seen in recent months. This reflects Canada’s broader immigration goals, including the In-Canada Focus allocation under the 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan, as well as Canada’s commitment to increasing Francophone immigration outside Quebec.
4. Trends in Express Entry for 2025
Looking ahead to 2025, we can expect the continued prioritization of candidates in the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) and those with French-language skills. The Canadian government has signaled its intention to streamline the immigration process for these groups in order to meet its ambitious target of 500,000 new permanent residents in 2025.
For candidates hoping to increase their chances of receiving an ITA, staying informed about the trends in the Express Entry system is critical. A partnership with a professional Canada immigration consultant can help you better understand your position within the Express Entry pool and the best ways to improve your CRS score.
5. Current Distribution of Scores in the Express Entry Pool
As of January 8, 2025, the distribution of CRS scores in the Express Entry pool is as follows:

7. What to Expect in 2025 and Beyond
In 2025, candidates with strong ties to Canada, such as those nominated through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), or those who possess French-language proficiency, will continue to have a competitive edge. Wave Immigration Consultant can assist applicants in navigating these trends and provide tailored guidance to improve your CRS score, especially if you are targeting specific immigration streams.
The future of Express Entry draws will likely continue to prioritize skilled workers who can help address Canada’s labor market needs. Candidates should focus on improving their profiles by enhancing language skills, securing job offers, or gaining additional education and work experience in Canada.
8. Conclusion
Canada’s immigration policies remain dynamic, and the Express Entry system plays a key role in shaping the country’s future. While the number of ITAs issued in December 2024 was relatively low, the focus on PNP candidates and French-language speakers is likely to remain a central theme in 2025. As the Canadian government seeks to meet its ambitious immigration targets, now is the perfect time to assess your CRS score and consider working with a Canada immigration expert.

Canada PM Trudeau to resign (WSJ) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday he would resign, making him the latest global progressive leader to fall from power. Trudeau’s resignation caps a decadelong political career during which the 53-year-old rose to global political stardom as a young, handsome and unabashed progressive whose appeal faded over time, until he became so unpopular that his Liberal Party forced him to step down before elections that must happen no later than October. Trudeau said he would stay on as prime minister until the party picks a new leader, a process that could take months and draw from the ranks of critics who pushed him out. The Liberal Party trails badly in the polls to the Conservatives, led by Pierre Poilievre, a populist who would be elected prime minister if the election were held now.
Trump Sees the U.S. as a ‘Disaster.’ The Numbers Tell a Different Story. (NYT) To hear President-elect Donald J. Trump tell it, he is about to take over a nation ravaged by crisis, a desolate hellscape of crime, chaos and economic hardship. “Our Country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the World!” he declared on social media last week. But by many traditional metrics, the America that Mr. Trump will inherit from President Biden when he takes the oath for a second time, two weeks from Monday, is actually in better shape than that bequeathed to any newly elected president since George W. Bush came into office in 2001. For the first time since that transition 24 years ago, there will be no American troops at war overseas on Inauguration Day. New data reported in the past few days indicate that murders are way down, illegal immigration at the southern border has fallen even below where it was when Mr. Trump left office and roaring stock markets finished their best two years in a quarter-century. Jobs are up, wages are rising and the economy is growing as fast as it did during Mr. Trump’s presidency. Unemployment is as low as it was just before the Covid-19 pandemic and near its historic best. Domestic energy production is higher than it has ever been.
Long the Star Pupils, Girls Are Losing Ground to Boys (WSJ) Girls have lost ground in reading, math and science at a troubling rate, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of student test scores across the country. Since 2019, girls’ test scores have dropped sharply, often to the lowest point in decades. Boys’ scores have also fallen during that time, but the decline among girls has been more severe. Boys now consistently outperform girls in math, after being roughly even or slightly ahead in the years before 2020. Girls still tend to perform better in reading, but their scores have dropped closer to boys. The findings suggest that pandemic learning loss hit girls particularly hard in ways that haven’t been addressed by schools. The most recent test scores show that girls haven’t yet recovered. This comes following longstanding gains for girls and women in educational attainment. Teachers, parents and education researchers aren’t sure what is driving the gender gap in learning loss, but some suspect the rise in behavior problems during the pandemic years prompted teachers to pay more attention to boys, who tend to act out more in class.
Is your car spying on you? (AP) Your car is spying on you. That is one takeaway from the fast, detailed data that Tesla collected on the driver of one of its Cybertrucks that exploded in Las Vegas earlier this week. Privacy data experts say the deep dive by Elon Musk’s company was impressive, but also shines a spotlight on a difficult question as vehicles become less like cars and more like computers on wheels. Is your car company violating your privacy rights? Many of the latest cars not only know where you’ve been and where you are going, but also often have access to your contacts, your call logs, your texts and other sensitive information thanks to cell phone syncing. The data collected by Musk’s electric car company after the Cybertruck packed with fireworks burst into flames in front of the Trump International Hotel Wednesday proved valuable to police in helping track the driver’s movements. Within hours of the New Year’s Day explosion that burned the driver beyond recognition and injured seven, Tesla was able to track Matthew Livelsberger’s movements in detail from Denver to Las Vegas, and also confirm that the problem was explosives in the truck, not the truck itself.
Heavy snow brings widespread disruption across the UK (AP) Heavy snow and freezing rain brought widespread disruption across Europe on Sunday, particularly in the U.K. and Germany, with several major airports forced to suspend flights. With the weather set to stay inclement on Sunday in the U.K., there are concerns that many rural communities, particularly in the north of England, could be cut off, with up to 40 centimeters (15 inches) of snow on the ground above 300 meters (985 feet). The National Grid, which oversees the country’s electricity network, said it had been working to restore power. Outages were reported in the English cities of Birmingham and Bristol and in Cardiff, Wales. The road network was heavily impacted too on what would have been a very busy day with many families returning home from the Christmas and New Year’s break, and students heading back to universities.
France’s former President Sarkozy standing trial over alleged campaign funding by Libya’s Gadhafi (AP) France’s former President Nicolas Sarkozy goes on trial Monday over alleged illegal financing of his 2007 presidential campaign by the government of late Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. The so-called “Libyan case,” the biggest and possibly most shocking of several scandals involving Sarkozy, is scheduled to run until April 10, with a verdict expected at a later date. Sarkozy, 69, faces charges of passive corruption, illegal campaign financing, concealment of embezzlement of public funds and criminal association, punished by up to 10 years in prison. Sarkozy, who served as president from 2007 to 2012, has denied any wrongdoing. The case emerged in March 2011, when a Libyan news agency reported that the Gadhafi government had financed Sarkozy’s 2007 campaign. In an interview, Gadhafi himself said “it’s thanks to us that he reached the presidency. We provided him with the funds that allowed him to win,” without providing any amount or other details.
German leader is more worried about Musk’s backing of a far-right party than his insults (AP) German Chancellor Olaf Scholz says he’s staying “cool” against critical personal comments made by Elon Musk but finds it worrying that the U.S. billionaire makes the effort to get involved in a general election by endorsing the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Scholz was reacting after Musk, a close ally to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, called the chancellor a “fool” after his coalition government collapsed in November and later backed the AfD in an opinion piece he wrote for a major newspaper in Germany. Scholz, head of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), said in comments published Saturday by the German magazine Stern that there is “nothing new” in criticism by “rich media entrepreneurs who do not appreciate social democratic politics and do not hold back with their opinions. I find it much more worrying than such insults that Musk is supporting a party like the AfD, which is in parts right-wing extremist, which preaches rapprochement with Putin’s Russia and wants to weaken transatlantic relations,” Scholz said.
Austrian chancellor quits as bid to form coalition without far right falls apart (NBC News) And another centrist Western government has bitten the dust. On Saturday, Austrian chancellor Karl Nehammer resigned from his post after talks to form a centrist coalition government fell apart. Now the country will either hold snap elections, or the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) will take a stab at forming its own coalition government. The FPO operates on the usual alt-right, pro-Russia, anti-immigrant platform that we’ve seen garner major support across Europe. The right-wing party has quickly gained momentum over the past few years, earning more votes than both the ruling center-right People’s Party and the left-leaning Social Democrats in an election last September. If the country holds a snap election within a few months, the FPO is expected to gain even more momentum during the interim and snag even more power in the newly formed government.
China’s top diplomat heads to Africa as West’s attention dwindles (Reuters) China’s top diplomat began his annual New Year tour of Africa on Sunday, maintaining a 35-year-long tradition, to quietly advance Beijing’s already sizeable influence across the resource-rich continent as Europe’s presence wanes and America’s wavers. While global capitals and investors brace for the return of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to the White House, and wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and domestic politics keep German and French ministers occupied, Foreign Minister Wang Yi being in Namibia, the Republic of Congo, Chad and Nigeria highlights the consistency of China’s engagement with Africa, analysts say. Wang’s visit through to Saturday also comes as the world’s No. 2 economy ramps up its financial support for the debt-laden continent and looks to strike more critical minerals deals and find markets to absorb its exports. As China’s economy slows, Africa offers a much-needed avenue for its state-owned infrastructure firms struggling for projects as indebted local governments hold off on spending, and a market for its electric vehicles and solar panels. Africa’s 50-plus votes at the United Nations could also help advance Beijing’s efforts to reshape multilateral institutions and reinterpret global norms so that they are more in line with its interests.
Strength of South Korea democracy tested as president defies arrest (Washington Post) The struggle of South Korean investigators to arrest a sitting president for the first time in the nation’s history has raised questions about the strength of the country’s democracy and the deep political divisions fueling South Korea’s constitutional crisis. Investigators from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials (CIO) asked police Monday to take over their efforts to detain impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his botched attempt to declare martial law last month. Yoon faces multiple investigations for his actions, including a criminal probe on charges of insurrection. He is also banned from leaving the country. Sitting South Korean presidents have immunity except on insurrection or treason charges. Yet as investigators closed in on Yoon’s residence to detain him for questioning, Yoon’s bodyguards formed a human barricade to block them. The result was a nearly six-hour standoff before investigators and police had to stand down. There’s no playbook for how the arrest of a sitting president is supposed to go. And as law enforcement officials navigate uncharted territory, analysts say Yoon is exploiting the fact that no one knows exactly what to expect.
Indonesia launches free meals program to fight stunting (NPR) On Monday, hundreds of students in Indonesia opened their lunch boxes to find rice, stir-fried vegetables, tempeh, chicken, and oranges—all of which they received for free. As of this week, more than 83 million students in Indonesia will begin receiving free school lunches and milk as part of a $28 million government project that aims to combat malnutrition and stunting, which afflicts 21.5 percent of all Indonesian children under age 5.

As of December 23, 2024, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has officially reached its allocation limit for provincial nominations. A total of 21,500 nominations were granted this year, marking a robust year for Ontario’s immigration efforts.
With the program gearing up for 2025, the new allocation numbers are yet to be announced. However, significant changes in the 2024-2026 Immigration Levels Plan indicate potential reductions in Ontario's immigration targets.
If you’re considering applying for permanent residence through the OINP, Wave Visas Immigration is here to guide you through the process.

2. Breakdown of ITAs by Stream
In 2024, the OINP issued over 22,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) across its various streams. Here’s the breakdown:
Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream: 6,695 ITAs
Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream: 8,363 ITAs
Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream: 914 ITAs
Masters Graduate Stream: 5,519 ITAs
PhD Graduate Stream: 533 ITAs
Entrepreneur Stream: 0 ITAs
While ITAs are an important step, they do not guarantee a provincial nomination or permanent residence. Applicants must submit successful applications to the OINP to secure a nomination.
3. Understanding ITAs and Provincial Nominations
There’s often confusion between invitations to apply (ITAs) and provincial nominations under programs like the OINP. Here’s a quick explanation:
Base Stream ITAs: Candidates submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile and, if selected, receive an ITA. Upon a successful application, they get a provincial nomination, enabling them to apply for PR.
Enhanced Stream ITAs: Candidates in the federal Express Entry pool with a provincial nomination gain 600 additional CRS points, almost guaranteeing an ITA in subsequent Express Entry draws.
Enhanced nominations offer flexibility, as candidates can start with an EOI or an Express Entry profile and transition between systems.
4. What’s Next for OINP in 2025
With changes in Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan, Ontario’s PNP allocation for 2025 is likely to decrease significantly. Key changes include:
Halved Provincial Allocations: Total provincial admissions are reduced from 110,000 in 2024 to 55,000 in 2025 across all provinces.
Economic Immigration Focus: Despite reductions, provincial pathways will continue to prioritize economic immigration.
Streamlining Programs: The Entrepreneur Stream closure in 2024 leaves no active replacement, signaling a shift in focus toward other economic streams.
Stay updated with Wave Visas Immigration for the latest developments and insights into navigating these changes.
5. Impact of Changes on Applicants
The upcoming reductions in OINP allocations will have the following implications for applicants:
Increased Competition: Fewer provincial nominations mean higher competition across all streams.
Importance of Express Entry: Enhanced streams aligned with Express Entry will become more critical for applicants seeking PR.
Strategic Planning: Applicants will need to optimize their CRS scores and target high-demand streams to improve their chances.

ESSE INDIA British Columbia selects more candidates; Manitoba ends open work permit policy for PNP candidates
British Columbia issued more Invitations to Apply (ITAs) this week under its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) through two skills immigration pathways. Meanwhile, Manitoba announced the conclusion of its open work permit policy for certain Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.
British Columbia PNP Updates
On December 10, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) conducted two draws targeting Skilled Worker candidates, including those eligible under the Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) option, and Entry Level & Semi-Skilled streams. Enhanced streams, like EEBC, align with Canada’s federal Express Entry system, allowing eligible candidates from the Express Entry pool to be considered for ITAs.
General Draw: This draw issued six ITAs across multiple streams, with varying minimum scores.
Priority Sector Draw: A second draw invited Skilled Worker candidates (including EEBC option) with experience in high-demand sectors of the British Columbian economy, issuing at least four ITAs.
Manitoba PNP Policy Update
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) announced on December 6 that it will stop accepting applications under the “Temporary Public Policy for Work Permits Aimed at Prospective PNP Candidates.”
This policy, introduced in August 2024, allowed MPNP to issue support letters to candidates in the Expression of Interest (EOI) pool or application inventory, enabling them to apply for open work permits (OWPs) through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Key Deadlines:
The online submission form for support letters will close at 11:59 PM CST on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 (12:59 AM EST, December 19).
IRCC will accept OWP applications under this policy until December 31, 2024.
Candidates meeting eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply before the December 19 deadline by completing the online submission form.

Canada Plans More PR in 2025?
Tumblr media
The Canada Immigration Levels Plan, which outlines the annual targets for immigrant admissions, has considerable implications for candidates within the Express Entry system. Migration remains a crucial component of Canada’s economy. Agreeing to the most recent arrangement, there will be an increment in the number of Lasting Inhabitant spots accessible to Express Section candidates in 2025 compared to the past year. However, it is noteworthy that this year has witnessed a decrease in the overall target for Permanent Residents.
Enhanced Opportunities for Express Entry Candidates:
A key question that emerges is how this plan will affect Express Entry candidates. Two primary groups are poised to benefit from these changes:
Candidates currently residing in Canada
Candidates eligible for Category-based draws
Conversely, candidates from other categories may encounter difficulties with their applications. The taking after table outlines the allotment of Express Passage candidates for the a long time 2024 and 2025:
2025 target – current Arrange: 124,680
2025 target – final year’s Arrange: 117,500
2024 target – final year’s Plan: 110,770
The target for 2025, set at 124,680 Express Section candidates, which envelops both “Economic Priorities” and “In-Canada Focus,” speaks to an increment from the target built up for 2024. In that year, the IRCC centered on the Government Tall Talented Category. Applicants can anticipate a greater number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) through the Express Entry pathway in 2025 compared to 2024.
Impact on Candidates with an "In-Canada Focus":
A significant alteration in the recent Immigration Levels Plan is the emphasis on candidates currently residing in Canada. Individuals holding a transitory work allow in Canada are more likely to get an Welcome to Apply (ITA). The Canadian government is particularly interested in retaining skilled workers.
Recently, Marc Miller expressed his commitment to increasing the frequency of immigration draws for in-Canada residents. This initiative aims to assist temporary residents in their pursuit of Permanent Resident status. The IRCC has issued a add up to of 25,700 ITAs over eight Canadian Involvement Course (CEC) draws from May to October 2024.
Emphasis on Category-based Draws:
The IRCC will place greater emphasis on candidates who demonstrate proficiency in the French language or possess advanced skills. Canada aims to enhance cultural diversity while simultaneously addressing labor shortages. The IRCC has established a target of 41,700 permanent residents under a category designated as “Federal Economic Priorities,” which will be pursued through category-based draws.
These category-based draws will invite applications for Canadian Permanent Residency from individuals in the following areas:
Proficiency in the French language
Healthcare professions
Transportation sectors
Science, advancement, building, and number juggling (STEM) areas
Skilled trades
Agriculture and agri-food sectors
To qualify for these category-based movement draws, candidates must have six a long time of full-time encounter, or an proportionate sum of part-time encounter, in an in-demand occupation inside the final three a long time.
