“I can handle it, for a week of relaxation with my girl,” he smiles at you, “and getting to see you in a bikini,” Daniel winks, never missing an opportunity to turn something dirty.

“If you want to see that all you have to do is ask, honey badger. I hope you brushed up your golf skills too, because Dad will probably want you to go golfing with them, and before you ask, no I won’t be there for you to stare at in a skirt,” you tell Daniel, one step ahead of him.

“Y/n! And you must be Daniel, welcome to the villa, I’m very happy you made it,” your mom greets you with a hug. Daniel goes for the handshake but your mom hugs him anyway. She still comes on the family vacation despite your dad remarrying. His new wife, Raquel, did not join this time, busy back home.

“Thank you for having me, I hope I’m not intruding,” Daniel says, he’s not always the rakish Australian that you love.

“Of course you aren’t, come in, breakfast is almost ready,” your mom shows you your room first, so you can drop your luggage and change before breakfast.

You opt for a bikini covered by a tee and linen shorts, Daniel goes off of your vibe, wearing something he would back home. The best part about the villa is that all the bedrooms are separated from the main living space and yours happens to overlook the beach with its own private patio.

“We’re on vacation, no need to dress fancy unless it’s a special dinner,” you grab his hand and drag him down to the kitchen table. “Sit, I’ll grab us coffee and food,” you smile, he just follows your lead.

“Daniel seems like a nice guy, Dad spoke kindly of him,” your older sister, Chloe says, sliding up beside you.

“The only thing Daddy doesn’t like is his age. Lancie was mad at me for a while, I guess Danny is his rival,” you tell her everything that you’ve said over the phone before.

“How was the flight here?” you ask, waiting for the coffee to finish brewing.

“Good, poor Lance is the only one who doesn’t have a partner here, but it was a long flight. We only got here an hour before you. How was yours?” Chloe wiggles her eyebrows.

“Girls, once the coffee is done help me carry in the food,” your mom tells you both.

“You take the coffee in, I’ll help Mom,” you tell Chloe, who doesn’t argue. You follow behind her with plates of food, setting them on the table and taking your seat between Danny and Lance.

“Morning, Y/n,” Lance greets you with a tired smile.

“Morning, Lancie,” you take a sip of the coffee Chloe poured you. Breakfast isn’t too eventful, just quiet chatter as everyone is still a bit tired from the flight.

“I’m going to go sleep a little bit, you are welcome to join me,” you tell Daniel, who happily follows you back to the bedroom. You make sure to set an alarm so that you don’t sleep longer than a couple hours, and it doesn’t take you long to fall asleep, the warm ocean breeze combined with Daniel’s superior cuddles knocks you out quickly.

You spend the rest of your day lounging on the beach, catching up with your sister and mom. Daniel is also on the beach, but he’s talking racing with Lawrence, Lance, and Scotty, even though they all promised that they wouldn’t.

As the sun sets, you all sit down for dinner, prepared by the private chef service that is a part of the villa rental.

Plus from what I’ve heard you tell your sister, you have a very healthy sex life,” your mom adds to the conversation and you lift your head a little to look at her.

“Mom!” you let out a scandalized gasp.

“It’s natural, it’s a good thing. Just wrap it before you tap it,” she brushes it off, savoring the spa experience.

“Scotty and I have been talking to Lance and Daniel. Lance has said nothing but good things about Daniel and Daniel cannot stop telling us about how much he adores you,”

“I would marry him if he asked, all I’m saying is that there’s no need to rush into it,” you defend yourself, putting an end to the conversation.

“Sir, I would like permission to marry your daughter. I’m not going to ask yet, I think it’s better to wait until we’ve been together for a little longer, but your daughter is the one for me. Y/n is perfect in every way and I want to make her happy for the rest of her life,” Daniel says to Lawrence as they stand off to the side, watching Scotty and Lance tee off.

“I’m kidding, son. You have my permission, but if you mess it up, I will end your racing career,” Lawrence smiles, happy that his baby girl is happy and found a life partner.

“Thank you, sir. I wouldn’t expect less,” Daniel breathes a sigh of relief.

When the guys get back to the villa, they spot the girls on the couch, wrapped in light blankets, watching old Disney movies.

“You guys took relaxing to heart. I should’ve joined you instead,” Lance quickly makes his way to couch, squeezing in between his siblings.

“Do you girls want wine?” Lawrence asks, an amused smile on his face.

“Yes, Daddy,” you and Chloe purposefully say in unison, watching Daniel and Scotty restrain themselves at the last second.

“Boys, come help me out,” Lawrence tells Scotty and Daniel, not noticing their reactions.

SIT ON GRASS AND FIRE ANTS WILL DEVOUR YOUR BUTT AND GROIN

A unique Key West experience are fire ants. You have not lived till you have been bitten by a few. Nor the extreme itching that accompanies the bites.

Why fire ants this morning? Two reasons. The Citizens Voice and the Truman Waterfront Park Amphitheater.

This morning’s Voice carried the comment: “Anyone who wants to sit on the ground down here obviously has never heard of fire ants.”

The relatively new Amphitheater has a large grass area where it has been suggested people can sit on the grass. To their detriment! As your derriere, butt and legs will discover. Not one or two bites. Many!

You don’t feel the effects for several hours. Then the itching, pain and suffering sets in.

Small red hive-like lesions develop. Appear to become puss filled. Not puss. Dead skin. Most times accompanied by a black head on top.

A good 2-3 weeks before total relief is experienced.

I had my first experience some 20 years ago. I was playing golf. My approach shot was just off the green. I took a pitching wedge and putter with me. Laid the putter on the grass as I hit onto the green with the wedge.

Then picked up the putter. Immediately, I was full of red ants. Tons of them. Up my arms, under my tee shirt, up my legs, and into my shorts. Even my privates were under attack.

I had laid the putter on a fire ant hill.

I did not know what had invaded me. Never had heard of a fire ant. Knew I had to get them off my body. Swiftly stripped to nothing. Jumped around and knocked them off.

The guys I was playing with all laughed. Experienced Key Westers. I insisted I had got them all. They laughed. Wait!

That night it started. Red inflammation and pimples. A day or 2 later the red puss followed by the tiny black heads.

I was dying! What to do?

Went to Walgreens. Talked with the pharmacist. A woman with no heart.

She said every 3 days you take a sharp knife and cut the heads off. Then dab the sore with cotton soaked in alcohol. The red pimples and puss will return. However, you keep cutting them off. In about 3 weeks, everything will be fine.

I looked at her and said, “You’re nuts! You want me to take a knife and cut them off!”

She look at me as if I was stupid. She could have cared less. She turned around and walked away.

I went home and tried the knife routine. Could not do it! The mere thought of cutting myself made me squeamish.

There had to be a better way. I came up with it! I took a clean rough bath towel and rubbed them off. A little discomfort. No big deal. A hell of a lot better than cutting them off!

Bring a folding chair if you intend to sit on the grass at the Amphitheater. Be admonished however that your legs will not be protected. Some will crawl up them and do their dirty deed.

Better you go to the movies.

Dueling Bartenders last night. Rick Dery at the bar. Jodie Campbell guest performer.

Jean Thornton at the bar. First time I have seen her in months. She is back till after Fantasy Fest. Sheila and Sally, also. Afterwards, Jean and I had dinner together at La Trattoria.

A special evening. Love the lady!

Donna has been having a string of bad luck. The fall and cut to her head. Another fall and she broke her kneecap badly. Stomach discomfort this past week.

The stomach discomfort turned out to be diverticulitis. In an advanced stage. Her colon had perforated. The hospital did not pick up on the perforation during her first 2 visits. Her nausea overwhelming because of the hospital’s failure to diagnose the perforation. She had shit in her body! She was sick!

She was back in the hospital yesterday. I am sure they are filling her with appropriate antibiotics. Made she get well soon.

Goombay begins friday. The for real Fantasy Fest sunday night. The event is the talk of the town. The local conversation piece. Properly so. It is an exciting event!

I have a bit of a problem tonight. My show is 9-9:30. The Democratic debate 8-11. I will be missing a good half hour of the debate.

Accidents happen. Some can be extremely serious.

A sad occurrence saturday night at the Key West Airport. Husband and wife in a private plane. Just the 2 of them. A Cessena 172.

The husband went to drive the plane onto the runway. It would not move. He went outside to check. Told his wife to remain in the plane.

The tire blocks had not been removed. He was removing them. His wife left the plane to help. She exited the plane and walked around to the front. Directly into the propeller.

She lost an arm and foot.

With all due respect (the lawyer in me), Trump is ignorant, knows not what he does. Causes all kinds of problems. Screws up everything he touches. Destroys people and reputations.

And last but not least, I fear he is going to get us into a worldwide conflict.

A week ago sunday he had the famous telephone call with Turkey’s Erdogan. Following the call, Trump announced the U.S. was pulling out of Syria and Turkey was free to do whatever it wanted. He made it sound like the decision was his. Erdogan had nothing to do with it.

Erdogan moved on the “permission” the next day. Turkish troops rapidly moved into Syria. Their goal the Kurds in the northeast region of Syria. The Kurds our friends. In word only from that moment on.

Trump immediately announced that if Turkey did anything to endanger American troops, he would in effect kill Turkey with economic sanctions. Another tariff war. Note that tariff wars take months if not years to really make an effect that can be felt.

In one week, everything is a mess. The Kurds are being defeated. Turkish soldiers are executing Kurds on the sides of roads. Isis prisoners are escaping jails. Two hundred seventy five thousand persons have been displaced. And as of yesterday, U.S. troops are in a bind. Caught between opposing forces. The word is an airlift will be required to get them out.

Four nations now engaged. The U.S. not one of them. A real danger exists that our soldiers will be hurt. Perhaps a war beyond Syria’s borders will begin. World War III will have its beginnings in the Middle and Far East.

Don’t say no! Trump is playing with fire. I find it amusing that he is the arsonist that began this mess and somehow he wants to be the frieman to put it out.

Trump has let the fox in the hen house.

Word is coming out of Washington that Trump did not take Erdogan seriously when he said sunday night he was going to invade Syria and get the Kurds.

Unquestionably, the U.S. has betrayed the Kurds. A reporter said he was asked by a Kurd who he was. An American journalist, he responded. The Kurd said, “Oh, the chickens!”

Ballsy Trump has demanded an immediate cease fire. No one is listening to him. World leaders have come to know what he is.

It was announced yesterday that Trump directed Pence to lead a delegation to Turkey to bring the bloodshed to an end. The best that can be expected is a Neville Chamberlain peace in our lifetime return message. A peace that will last as long as Chamberlain’s did.

John Bolton got dumped by Trump a couple of months ago. I never liked Bolton. Decidedly a warmonger.

Bolton is turning out to be as if a woman scorned. He is going “to get” Trump.”

Yesterday Bolton commented that Trump was involved in the effort to get the Ukraine to investigate Biden. He called the effort involving Trump, Giuliani, etc. as similar to a “drug deal.” He referred specifically to Giuliani as a “hand grenade.”

Concorde At Aerospace

Aerospace Museum opened at Filton in October 2017.  The project is being run by the Bristol Aero Collection Trust and houses a varied collection of exhibits as well as Concorde 216, the final Concorde to be built and the last to fly.  It made its final flight in November 2003 (flying over Clifton Suspension Bridge) – it is now housed in a specially constructed hangar at Filton, on the outskirts of Bristol, where the airframe and the engines of Concorde were largely developed and where the UK assembly line was located; all British planes also made their maiden flight from Filton's runway.

Filton's association dates to the First World War, with the creation of the Aircraft Acceptance Park in 1915 which was manned by The Royal Flying Corps. The building lies next door to a former First World War hangar which has been cleverly renovated to house the bulk of the museum’s exhibits.  The hangar was built in 1917 by the War Office as part of the Filton Aircraft Acceptance Park. It has enjoyed 100 years of continuous service in RAF and private hands.  Manufacturers of airframes for use in the First World War delivered their aircraft to an Aircraft Acceptance Park for the installation of engines and armament. Squadrons were also prepared here before they were sent to the front lines in France.

Although the Acceptance Park closed in late-1919, the large flying ground was taken over for test and development flying by the new Bristol Aeroplane Company. The aim of Bristol Aerospace is to recall the past and showcase the remarkable role played by the Bristol site in Britain’s aviation history, but also, according to the museum’s collections manager, “to inspire the next generation” about science and engineering.  Numerous exhibits – such as flight simulators and interactive options – show the museum is most definitely not just aimed at “plane spotters”.

In the 19th century the site was used for milling, quarrying and a coal dramway.  The woodlands are beautiful and best visited in the spring when it is filled with flowers and you are surrounded by birdsong.  Frogs, toads and dragonflies find their home in the ponds whereas dippers and kingfishers can be seen by the stream.  Even foxes, badgers and bats are known to be in the area. This valley is a great place for a family day out, dog walking or if you are interested in geology and history.

The best time to visit is in spring between April and July but it is open all year round.  A number of public footpaths run throughout the reserve. Wheelchair users can gain entrance via Willsbridge Hill and can access most of the valley. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on lead. Frenchay Village Museum

The Museum building was built in the 19th century as the West Lodge for Frenchay Park estate.  The building has had considerable modifications over the years.  The latest changes were in 1999 when the Frenchay Tuckett Society obtained a lease on the building from the North Bristol NHS Trust and converted for use as a museum.

The Frenchay Tuckett Society was formed in 1996 to care for a collection of Quaker artefacts donated to  the village of Frenchay by the descendents of the Tuckett family.  The Tuckett Collection, which is the nucleus of the museum, contains a wide variety of artefacts, some dating back to the 1770s.  These include paintings, mountaineering equipment, journals, Quaker wedding certificates, books, Egyptian remains, Bristol porcelain and much more.

FRY’S CHOCOLATE – INVENTED IN BRISTOL - There is a permanent display about the great chocolate manufacturers, J.S. Fry & Sons. Although they were a Bristol Company that relocated to Keynsham, Joseph Storrs Fry (and his sons) lived in Grove House, Frenchay, from 1800 until his death in 1835, and he is buried in the Quaker burial ground here.  Later, his great-grandson Cecil Fry lived in the same house. He was the last of the family to head the firm, and he died here in 1952.

On display the mortar and pestle originally used to grind the cocoa beans. In 1847 Fry's invented the chocolate bar, and chocolate changed from being a drink to being something you ate. Fry's displayed their new invention at the Great Exhibition of 1851, and one of those original 160 year-old chocolate bars is on display in the museum.

In 1959, Badminton was held in two sections, called the Great and Little Badminton, due to the popularity of the event and the number of entries. The horses in the two sections jumped the same fences but were separated into the two divisions based on their money winnings. This graded approach was abandoned after the 1965 event.  In 1989, the current director and course-designer Hugh Thomas, who rode in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, took over from Frank Weldon, a former winner, who is credited with bringing the event to the pinnacle it is at today.

Badminton is held in the 6 square kilometre (1500 acre) Badminton Park, where the car parks, trade stands, arena and cross-country courses are located.

The World’s Premier three-day event is held every year in early May and attracts over 160,000 visitors from all over the world.

Winterbourne Duck Pond

  The duck pond, also known as Flaxpits Pond, has been a beautiful peaceful oasis in the middle of Winterbourne for many generations.  It has existed since the 16th century when it was used to soak flax before making linen, so is of considerable historic significance.

The area is used by local residents of all ages as a place for recreation and is very popular with local fishermen.

Winterbourne Parish Council own the pond and maintain the surrounding area.  Frome Valley Angling Club manage the ‘water’ and fishing on behalf of the Parish Council.

Frome Valley Walkway

 A pleasant and interesting 18-mile-long path which follows the River Frome between the River Avon in Bristol and the Cotswold Hills in South Gloucestershire.

The route links with the Cotswold Way National Trail at one end and the Avon Walkway at the other, as well as connecting with several other well-established recreational routes, notably, the Jubilee Way, the Monarch’s Way and the Community Forest Path.

The path passes through a variety of landscapes including open countryside and meadows in South Gloucestershire, the mediaeval town of Chipping Sodbury, wooded valleys south of Winterbourne Down, the pretty village of Frenchay and historic, landscaped parks in Bristol including Oldbury Court estate, originally an old hunting lodge within the Royal Forest of Kingswood. In Bristol the route runs through city parks and along pavements. Some sections of the River Frome are culverted near to the City Centre, including the point where it enters the River Avon near Castle Park.

Wholly run by volunteers Cleve Archers is one of the largest clubs in the county.  It was founded in 1960 to practice and promote the sport of archery in accordance with Grand National Archery Society Rules.  It is a well established and recognised leading archery organisation in the South West of England. The club is registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club. The majority of the members live in or around South Gloucestershire and Bristol areas.

As well as hosting tournaments throughout the year Cleve Archers have daily clubs running for Juniors, seniors and disability group.  All courses are fully supervised by their coaches and all the equipment is provided.  Have a go taster session are a great way to have an introduction to the sport.

If you are looking for a new challenge, this is definately one to try.

Wild Place Project is a wildlife conservation park, run by Bristol Zoological Society and located close to the M5 in Bristol.  It’s a fun, family attraction that provides outdoor adventure, play and learning, with a vision to create a sustainable future for wildlife and people through their conservation and education work.  It has a natural and open feel, making it easy to explore.  You really can get up close and personal with some of the animals.

It aims to inspire families to enjoy nature with a number of outdoor adventures from discovering wildlife from the UK and around the world with seasonal themed trails, exploring the woods and climbing in the undercover Fun Fort.  There are some hidden gems liked the barefoot challenge exploring senses, a mud kitchen and musical play area and you can enjoy a great range of hot food and drinks in the quaint guest village, but there are also some great places to have a picinic.

Visitors to Wild Place Project can meet amazing animals from across the world from the mischievous lemurs of Madagascar, Leopards, Giraffes, Zebras, to the striking grey wolves of Europe and many more.  You can also feed the animals.  This place is like being on a small-scale on foot Safari.

The Dower House at Stoke Park 

The Dower House, Stoke Park is a building in Bristol, England. It is one Bristol's more prominent landmarks, set on Purdown, a hill above the M32 motorway on the main approach into the city, and painted yellow.

The house was built in 1553 by Sir Richard Berkeley. Rebuilt by Norborne Berkeley, 4th Baron Botetourt circa 1760, it eventually became used as a Dower House by the Dukes of Beaufort at nearby Badminton House. This included Charles Somerset, 4th Duke of Beaufort (The son of Henry Somerset, 2nd Duke of Beaufort) and wife Elizabeth Somerset, Duchess of Beaufort whose daughter’s obelisk can be found on the hill she died on from falling off a horse to this date.

Legend has it that Stoke Park, is haunted by the ghost of 17-year-old Elizabeth Somerset, who died in 1760 there after falling off her horse and breaking her neck.  In recent years numerous visitors claim to have heard galloping hooves as they walk through - despite the fact horses haven’t been on the grounds for years.

Lots of people walk the grounds of Stoke Park, it’s the perfect place to walk the dog, enjoy a walk, have a picnic or in the winter tobogganing down the very steep hill in front of the house.

Glenside Museum

Glenside Museum is located on Blackberry Hill in the suburb of Fishponds. Its clocktower is a prominent landmark, visible from the M32 motorway. Several of the buildings on the site are Grade II listed.

The museum was founded by Dr Donal Early, a consultant psychiatrist at Glenside Hospital. Objects and documents were saved and collected from all corners of the building and beyond. The collection consists of a wide range of paraphernalia and images from the life of Glenside and of the local Learning Disability Hospitals of the Stoke Park Group and the Burden Neurological Institution.

The museum was successful in gaining a Heritage Lottery Grant in 2011 to collect memories of Glenside Hospital from those who lived and worked there. This has enabled the Museum to collect over 60 interviews giving many perspectives. These are available for those researching or wanting a better understanding of the history of mental health care. The museum continues to collect memories from anyone that worked or visited the hospital.

The museum charges no entrance fee but depends on donations from the public.

Course Review: California Golf Club of San Francisco

Well, I’ve danced around this round, but my visit to California Golf Club of San Francisco was the centerpiece of my Bay Area trip last week. In fact, it was kind of right in the middle of the trip, which is why I didn’t want the review to get lost in the shuffle. This is a special course that deserves its own feature article.

California Golf Club of San Francisco (aka Cal Club) was opened in 1926 and originally co-designed by Willie Locke and A. Vernon Macan. Alister Mackenzie came in later to redesign much of the bunkering and a couple of the greens (right before he went to work on his crown jewel, Cypress Point). In recent years, Kyle Phillips was brought in on a course restoration that was meant to bring the course back to its “golden age.”

Cal Club stands out a bit in San Francisco because it’s one of the top private clubs, but it is not in the city’s giant golf cluster where Olympic Club, San Francisco Golf Club, TPC Harding Park and Lake Merced all sit. Cal Club is located in South San Francisco and that helps give it some distinction with some different scenery. There are a few elevated points on the course where you can see the south end of town, a bit of the bay and, of course, the big hillside that reads “South San Francisco – The Industrial City.” You will see some planes overhead from the airport, which is also not too far away.

Being in San Francisco, you can be sure that Cal Club is a very hilly course. I’d say there are only a couple holes out there where some change in elevation isn’t a factor. It can also get windy here, especially in the afternoon. It was very windy when we played the back nine. Oddly enough, most uphill holes were into the wind while the downhill ones were with the wind. We were playing the middle tees. I would argue that the par-5 15th (only 474 yards) was playing more like a legit par-6 than the one over at Lake Chabot the day before. I hit a good driver/3-wood/3-wood up the hill and into the wind, and was still well short of the green. Meanwhile, on the 433-yard par-4 14th hole (downhill/downwind), I hit driver/hybrid over the green.

I received an invite to play the course, and I was able to bring along a friend of mine. It was a bucket list experience for both of us. Cal Club is ranked in most American Top 100 lists and in the top 10 or 20 of several California lists I looked at. It’s not an easy private club to get on, and I was very grateful for the opportunity. We ended up playing as a twosome, teeing off just after 1:00. We were aided by our caddie, Steve, who did a great job for us.

One of the unique design features at Cal Club is that there are a lot of interconnecting/overlapping fairways, especially on the back nine. You can imagine some members might make up their own holes when the course is empty, or they can do special “cross country” tournaments to mix up the routing from the normal layout.

A great example of this is the par-3 16th hole, which is a nice downhill shot to the green. As a par-3, it’s intimidating with deep bunkers guarding the front and back. However, when you get up above the green and look back, you see the 17th fairway rolling right up to the edge of the 16th green from the side, so it easily looks like that could be played as par-4 or par-5 coming in from that direction.

Right below the clubhouse sits a very open area that is home to the 10th tee, 11th green, 12th tee and 18th green. It has a unique feel and presentation.

I mentioned Mackenzie’s involvement with the bunker designs, and you can definitely see his influence here. The bunkering is outstanding. Every green is very well-guarded by deep, jagged and intimidating bunkers lined with deep fescue rough. My friend and I both found our fair share. It didn’t help the scores, but it was a vital part of the experience.

There are many very memorable holes at Cal Club. However, none stands out to me more than the par-4 7th. This is definitely the most dramatic hole on the course. It is a severe dogleg right playing over a little canyon. Huge bunkers line the right edge of the fairway at the corner, and then everything slopes down toward the green once you get past the corner. From the furthest-back Venturi tees, it is 411 yards. Then, it is 395 yards from the back tees. Only the longest of hitters may try to cut the corner from back here.

However, we were playing the middle tees, making this hole a much-more-tempting 306 yards. My caddie showed me the ideal line, but I didn’t have quite enough confidence and aimed about 10 yards left of where he told me. I hit the exact shot I wanted. It cleared the corner, but not in the ideal spot. It ended up rolling into a bunker about 60 yards short of the green. He said if I had hit the same shot on the line he told me, I probably would have been on the green. That just goes to show you that you should usually trust your caddie! No matter what, it is a stellar hole design that is equally fun and intimidating if you play the proper tees.

Though there are trees throughout the course, they are not as dense as most courses around here. Cal Club never feels tight and you can usually feel comfortable ripping a driver on most holes. Also, the turf conditions are meant to be very firm and fast.

Cal Club is a distinct contrast to something like Harding Park, where things are lush, green and soft. Cal Club has fescue fairways and pure bentgrass greens. The appearance is a lighter green in color (it actually looks greener in pictures than in person, which is not usually the case), but it plays nicely. You get lots of roll-out on drives. The fairway lies are tight, but still have a good enough pad underneath to hit any type of shot you want. The greens are very firm and super fast, so you usually have to play to the front and let it roll out. Players that can generate a lot spin might be able to get the ball to stop somewhat quickly, though. This course is really set up for a pro-level of play, maybe more than any other course I’ve played. I felt like I got the firm/fast conditions they wanted for the U.S. Open at Erin Hills, until the rain softened their course up too much.

Basically, the conditions were excellent all the way around, so there isn’t much else to say about how great the course was.

Once you are in the door as a guest, Cal Club has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We were treated well, but the feeling was more casual. It’s mainly about the golf here, and that’s how I like it.

Cal Club was truly a wonderful golf experience that I won’t soon forget. It’s easy to see why this is considered one of the best courses in the state (and country for that matter). If you ever get a chance to play here, take advantage of it!

one of them had to be taken to the hospital I'm a dangerous job of a firefighter is our top story I'm and I'd be good evening I'm Sandra Bookman and I'm John Austin one firefighter suffered a severe burn on his hand and the other one had some cuts it happened while they were trying to put out a house fire on topwe place in two cab County friends tried to comfort the woman who was in the home when it started to burn all the occupants were out of the house at the time there was a elderly woman home at the time of the fire but she got out okay but all of the firefighters did not after flames had eaten away at the Attic – DeKalb County firefighters ran into some trouble during the course of the fire we had some hot materials fall down and cause some second possibly second third-degree burns with one of our firefighters and then we had another one sustained some minor lacerations no names released tonight the firefighter with the burned hand was taken to Grady Hospital the cause of that fire is unknown there were some frightening moments on board a Delta flight from Chattanooga to Atlanta today smoke was spotted coming from an engine on Delta flight 1021 as it was landing just after noon the plane touched down safely and everyone made it down the emergency chute all right Delta crews could not find any sign of a fire tonight police in Carrollton say they're getting closer to an arrest in the murder of an eight-year-old girl Shea Hills body was found last November inside a sewer pipe in Carroll County she had died from a blow to the head police say they've narrowed the list of suspects but don't have enough evidence to make an arrest just yet they're waiting test results from the FBI crime lab in Washington six boys ranging in age from 11 to 14 will be in court this week they are charged with raping a nine-year-old girl in Griffin last week it's a case that has traumatized and shocked with her residents on the Nightbeat channel twos Jonathan Serrie talked to people who live in the child's neighborhood I'm not gonna have these mothers live right behind the woods where the nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped not knowing my daughter and my son around her plant I'm not gonna know I know what's going on police say the girl was picking berries just before the alleged attack what shocks many residents is that the six boys accused of raping her are all neighborhood kids and all under the age of 15 I wish I lived somewhere else because I think that it makes a lot of people look bad police frequently patrol the streets of this neighborhood and a barbed-wire fence keeps children off the nearby golf course some residents say there's just not enough for kids to do in this neighborhood over here this used to be a softball diamond now it's falling into serious disrepair we got a commercial center Bank going over here it's almost by the kids tee box streets and stuff you know but that's about it I don't know what else I can do but yeah I work at night with these mothers say parents need to keep a closer eye on their children if they want to prevent what allegedly happened here last week from happening again Griffin police are also looking for solutions on Tuesday they plan to launch a new program in which officers will patrol the streets on bicycle they say this will give police a better understanding of the communities they serve and the
