Kagome stared at him, aghast. She put a hand to her forehead. "Okay, first off- what do you mean by 'their kind?' Second, people aren't livestock you can just place in a role to fulfil, Sesshoumaru. Why not just let Rin live in a normal village with genuine friends? Not ones you've forced to be here."

His heavy attention shifted to her. "Because, Rin is not a normal girl. She needs to be here. Elsewhere is not safe."

Kagome's eyes narrowed. As usual, he wasn't answering anything useful. "You mean you just couldn't handle it if things were normal. You couldn't control everything that way."

Sharp claws nicked her ankle. She jumped and shuddered, gaze staying locked with his.

"You will come to understand in time."

"Time..." she said softly. "Oh God, I bet you've kept these people here for years."

Sesshoumaru hummed and began to straighten, releasing her. "A few..."

She grabbed his clawed hand. Heedless of the sharp nails biting into her palm, she looked at him with quiet exasperation. "And how old are you?"

He hesitated as though having not thought about it for a long time. "800. Give or take a few centuries," he uttered.

Kagome exhaled in a rush. "I've never... sensed another youkai around. You're the only one." The ancient demon studied her from within the curling tendrils of steam. "That is correct. This one is the last remaining, far as I am aware."

It finally, finally clicked into place then. What his true motives were. He was lonely, Kagome realised. This twisted, possessive man wanted something so incredibly simple. Company. He must have misconstrued Rin's desires, in an effort to serve his own wants. Whether or not he was malicious with his intent, Kagome couldn't say. The fact remained she was trapped there by him. But... A part of her could understand his need. The desperate want to keep people close. "You need to... Let all this go. Let Rin be free with the other kids-"

"You dare to meddle?" His voice had dropped to an acidic tone.

Blue eyes flashed, "yes I do."

Her bared his teeth. "Foolish. You have no right-"

"I have every right, I'm her mother." Kagome's own voice dropped as she snapped. Sesshoumaru's eyes widened and he stilled, thrown. The two stared at each other in silence. A thrum of quiet victory shone in Kagome's eyes. She'd play the game if it meant surprising him. She even thought he was backing down, just for a moment.

But then a large hand made a fist in her hair- pulling tight. Kagome yelped, feeling her head be tugged back, baring the delicate expanse of her throat.

Fast drumming roared in her ears. She swallowed, staring at the ceiling. A hot, wet sensation dragged down her neck, lingering on her rapid pulse. "Hn, if that's the case, perhaps you'd be more comfortable sleeping in this one's bed tonight."

Shocked eyes widened. Her breath hitched.

"If you're so eager to be a mother, should we not start trying for pups?" He uttered, a smile in his voice. Kagome jumped when sharp fangs nipped her skin.

No way...is he actually laughing at me? A telltale chuckle rang out, confirming her suspicions, and she gasped, twisting in his hold as reiki sparked along her skin.

"You jerk! Let go," she blushed. His grip loosened and he continued to chuckle while Kagome jolted free, scrambling to her feet. Her balance became compromised however- water lurching as she slipped. Sesshoumaru's amusement was cut short, quickly grabbing her around the waist just as she bumped into him. Pale hands clamped onto his shoulders. Kagome swayed forward, finding her nose inches from his. Her skin flushed anew.

He's so close...

Slit pupils bore into hers, claws pricking her hip. His shoulder felt tense under her hand, lean muscle frozen stiff. The closeness felt different to when they'd been dancing just a few hours ago. Her nearly bare body felt exposed, practically all of her open to his scrutiny. But the demon held her carefully, an intentness in his air and attention.

She wondered how long it had been since he'd last held anyone. A faint...yearning swam in his gaze. That loneliness again. His lips parted, revealing a fang as their noses brushed- breath intermingling. Kagome's frazzled mind refused to give insight, an order, a reaction. It wasn't logic that took hold of her but emotion, instinct. Her own loneliness felt like it were being mirrored back to her in his eyes. He did not feel evil to her, and she hated that. He'd just chased her down like a hunter would his kill. And yet he did not feel repulsive despite his insane reasoning and actions. She still felt her stomach turn to liquid gold, thighs press together as heat flamed along her skin.

Surprisingly, Sesshoumaru was the one to pull away. His eyes frosted over with control. "This one will get you a change of clothes. You are tired, are you not? I will leave you to your rest."

Kagome cleared her throat while they both straightened, feeling the loss of his warm palms when he released her. "Y-yeah," she murmured, expecting him to leave. However, his hand closed around hers and Kagome blinked as he helped her step from the bath. Feeling something soft settle over her head and shoulders, Kagome paused, chest aching. She loathed it. The towel dipped forward over her head a moment, obscuring her vision. By the time she'd pushed the material up, the Daiyoukai was gone.

Kagome touched her burning cheek and dug her nails into the flushed skin, causing harsh rivets.

She despised him. She had to.

While her back was turned, busy with drying herself, Kagome didn't notice Sesshoumaru's coming and going. She turned to see her bunny print pajama's folded neatly on the bathroom side. The cute pictures only made her stomach turn with a certain horrific memory.

Kagome dressed quickly, lest he drop in unannounced again. Returning to her room, she flopped onto her bed, musing that she really wasn't having much luck escaping. Playing along with the sham had won her new information however, and she'd ran further than before with this latest attempt. The brief flare of triumph was snuffed out by the memory of Sango. Kaede. It was clear that there was no one she could trust. Kagome turned on her side, touching her ankle and remembering the bathroom.

She quickly shook her head.

Hearing muffled voices from downstairs that started to raise louder, Kagome lifted her head. One was no doubt Sesshoumaru, but the other...

Lifting herself from the bed, she crept with bare feet toward the door. Sliding it open a crack, Koga's gruff voice reached her ears. "It was just extreme is all! How badly hurt is she? Ya don't have-ta treat women like that, least us wolves don't. Sure a bit of rough and tumble is called for, but -"

"Be silent. This one is not interested in anything you say," Sesshoumaru shut him down.

There's a growl of annoyance, that was suddenly drowned out by a much lower, hissing growl. Kagome was certain Sesshoumaru's eyes had bloomed red by now.

A beat of silence pervaded the house.

"... Look, what are ya gonna do with her? You gonna mate her, or just use her to strengthen the barrier?" Koga grunted.

Sesshoumaru was silent in response, and an aggregated sigh came from the threshold of the front door. It was clear Sesshoumaru wasn't letting him in.

"I don't like it," Koga uttered. "Maybe we outta...let her go. Forget this whole thing."

"Your opinion is not needed, nor was it asked for."

"Stubborn, bratty, son of a-"

Another hissing sound cuts him off, and Koga let out a very animal sounding yelp.

"Unless you intend to challenge me outright, keep your comments to yourself. It is only Rin's sense of mercy that keeps you alive, Wolf Prince. I am less inclined to abide by that mercy with every word you whimper." Sesshoumaru's voice rumbled like thunder, cold and biting. The complete opposite of how it had been with her, soft as honey.

Koga was silent, but Kagome could hear unsteady footsteps draw away from the door. It clicked shut, and she pulled her door closed, hiding under the covers of her bed.

There came a rhythmic padding of paws up the stairs near her door. She held her breath, freezing. The little space under her door letting in a line of light became blocked. The heavy panting of a dog could be heard. He hesitated before her door for some time, and Kagome watched it obsessively, not daring to blink. Mate... Koga had said. What exactly had he meant by that?

She could hazard a few guesses.

The shadow behind her door shifted, before drawing away. The sound of claws clicking on the hard wooden floors faded away. The air escaped her lungs in a rush.

Kagome slept poorly that night.

A few days passed, and Kagome mused that Sesshoumaru had certainly tightened the net around her. She could still go to the school to 'clean' but she barely did her job, instead spending her time searching for a phone signal in different areas or reading books in the library. The difference was, Sesshoumaru accompanied her almost everywhere.

She'd jolted upon being caught with the phone, but he'd ignored it. In fact he allowed every attempt she made to use it. His confidence was both grating and worrying.

The only thing he wouldn't tolerate her doing was taking her pills in-front of him. She had to take those behind closed doors.

And every night he seemed to hesitate just a little longer behind her door.

One night, Kagome dimly noted it was close to Halloween, looking at the calendar on her bedroom wall. Brushing her hair, she paused upon hearing rapid footfalls hurrying past her door. They thundered down the stairs, and Sesshoumaru's voice reached her ears.

"How bad is it?" He demanded.

"...Please don't worry, father."

Kagome's brows drew together and she shifted her covers off her, padding to the bedroom door and opening it. Drawing her foot out into the barren hall, she crouched down, shifting to the top of the stairs and peering down.

Sesshoumaru was knelt, inspecting Rin's arm with a careful reverence. His eyes burned, lips thin. She had never seen him so severe and yet soft. Rin allowed him to do as he pleased, looking almost jadedly tired.

The demon lifted the little girl up into the crook of his arm. "Adjustments need to be made."

Rin only sighed, motionless while he carried her out of Kagome's sight. The backdoor of the house could be heard swinging open and shutting.

Squinting, Kagome left her spot at the top of the stairs. Rising up on her tip toes, she crept down the hall- pushing open a random door to try and follow their progress. Shifting quietly up to the window frame, she peered down. Sesshoumaru was carrying Rin across the garden, heading towards the night drenched work-shed. Kagome's heart picked up with alarm. Why was he taking her there so late? Their forms disappeared within, while the lights turned on soon after. Sesshoumaru shut the door behind them, and Kagome gnawed on her bottom lip.

She had to see. She had to know what they were doing. Turning, she padded slowly, carefully down the stairs, reaching the backdoor.

Pulling it- Kagome was alarmed to find it locked. Bastard. He must have suspected she'd follow. Still, he hadn't had enough time to lock the front. Hurrying now, she jogged across the living room to tear open the entrance, forgoing her shoes. The grass crunched wet and soggy against the pads of her feet, utterly sullying the soles of her feet, but she continued on. Keeping close to the side of the house, she made her way round back and gauged the distance between herself and the silent work-shed. It was at least a good sprint. The run would have to be quick and quiet.

Breathing out, Kagome braced herself, before pushing off from her heel. Urging herself to run, she channelled all of her energy into pumping her legs. A light vapour hung in the air, settling onto her exposed skin. Heading toward the side of the shed, Kagome skidded a little and grabbed hold of the structure- preventing herself from falling. Not a sound came from inside, and sweat broke out on her forehead. Shakily turning, she stared at the light pouring out from the single window. The rest looked to have been blacked out.

Shifting herself slowly around the outside of the shed, Kagome squatted underneath the window, trying to settle her nerves. Then, slowly, carefully, she raised herself up on tip toe, hugging the side of the structure as she peered inside. At first, the single light in the room caught her attention, hanging listlessly from the ceiling. Then the pots. Countless terracotta pots and vases were littered within, stacked high on one another.

Odd, Kagome hadn't pegged him as the sort to like pottery. But then he did have those paintings in the house, maybe he was artsy? A shadow drew close and Kagome quickly ducked down, waiting a moment. Something rustled from within, and she peered inside again, swallowing. Sesshoumaru passed by the window, stopping to kneel next to Rin as she lay on a table located below the window. Kagome tried to raise herself higher to look at her. The little girl lay pale, eyes closed.

Kagome made a noise and quickly clamped a shaking hand over her mouth.

Her left arm was missing.

The image burned into her mind however was that of Sesshoumaru holding a small child sized arm. Clay caked his hands up to his forearms- and the arm held in his grasp, presented like a gift, looked hollow.

What the hell is going on? Pushing off from the shed, Kagome decided not to test her luck and instead returned to the house in a scramble of limbs.

Her mind reeled with what she'd seen. What exactly did it mean? That Rin was an amputee? That didn't explain why her head pulsed with the instinct to get away. To hide or run. It had felt wrong, like she'd stumbled upon something not meant for her. A painfully private moment. Perhaps Rin was a Frankenstein creation, or a demon too.

But that look in Sesshoumaru's eyes was what shook her to the core. He'd looked so weary but...reverently obsessive. Like a determined writer at the helm of a great story that had been driven to complete his work at the cost of his health. He'd looked at Rin as both a daughter and as a piece of craft he must preserve.

What do I do? Kagome thought, laying down tiredly on her bed. Drawing her knees up, she clutched her hands close to her chest, exhaling.

The backdoor opened downstairs, falling shut. Her eyes snapped open.

Quick, small footfalls of the little girl hurried up the stairs, thundering past Kagome's door and down the hall to her own room.

Kagome squeezed her eyes shut, waiting. Just as with every night, she heard the telltale padding of paws. They approached slowly, a faint panting noise behind her door when the shadow drew near and hesitated.

No matter how much she willed her body to hold still, her bones refused, trembling. She didn't know. She didn't know what he wanted from her. Not really. What imaginary role or purpose was she supposed to fill in his eyes to satisfy him? Was she going to have her limbs replaced with clay too?

Why hesitate outside her door?

What did he hope to gain by coming inside?

For the first time, it seemed her question would receive an answer.

Kagome inhaled sharply as her door slid open.

Spiritual Log August 9 2019

I was very surprised at the responses to my Lion's Gate 8/8 post, thank you all so much. Sending you all 💖 right now, and maybe later too. Thank you, I hope it served you well. I rarely ever get any note on these posts so I don't know if any of my info transmissions help anybody at all, but lately I guess the messages get received by those most in need, so thank you for the responses. 😊 So anyways... This post is mostly what shifted for me a few hours ago while the portal was still at its peak. For those who haven't done so, no worries, though, the 8/8 lion's gate energies will be active until the 12th, so if you need to cleanse and heal your energetic bodies and systems, you can do more till that day, because the amplified energies can wash away more of the old and icky stuff than regular days. If you want to really do shifts, I suggest doing the clearings from Sunday to Monday, along with your strong intentions of attaining your best and highest vibration. I support you in your higher spiritual evolution goals! 😊

OK, so I was gonna post this as soon as it happened but I just finished meditating the Magic Mantra (Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad) and I didn't wanna ruin the moment or my manifestations so I just treaded and went straight to Reiki healing and listening to subliminal stuff. (You can check out my previous post on July 6 if you're interested in what I am doing at the moment. Intense stuff 😅). The following are the events that lead to what happened this morning as I was using the remaining energies of 8/8.

For the past few days since the Lion's gate portal opened around July 26, I had the strong urge to meditate and clear as much energies from my body as possible. I wasn't watching any video or reading much posts, it was just intuition, so I forgot to post that Lion's gate portal was gonna start opening. Maybe next year I'll post a reminder too. *fingers crossed* The feelings started to flood in, the really intense, horrible pangs of my wounds, mostly the loneliness and abandonment and poverty mindset issues, they came in quite strong, but I just did whatever I can to face them, ask if they were mine and then transmute accordingly (spoiler alert: 50% of the time they weren't, so I just told them to go back to where they came from, with conviction. If they leave ASAP, they're not yours to begin with. Also, congratulations on learning you're an empath, my friend.😆). When I say transmute though, it just means letting them go, either through

Talking them out of your body (if the feelings are not that intense) or

Crying them out, loud and hard, and really feeling the feelings out (if they're persistent AF and apparently they were yours lol)

I wanted to cry them out but I couldn't (because I haven been repressing so much stuff) so I just tried meditating actively (I recommend kundalini yoga for this, the mantra and the limb actions can be a workout, like my arms get sore a lot after these sessions, so yeah, two birds with one stone 😄). I also kept reciting the Mul Mantra till the end of July, as well as listening to subliminals and doing Reiki (I listen to other people's Reiki videos, I channel the energy myself, or just do a combo by channeling Reiki as well as receiving some from other people. I may post something about that later *puts it in reminders along with a zillion stuff lol). I guess the combination of doing a lot of stuff helped me ground better and lets me become an observer to my feelings and emotions, because seriously I just can't deal with low vibes while I'm enjoying my alone time, which weirdly has been getting more and more frequent.

Not that I hate being alone though, but because each time I do fun stuff by myself, and right when I'm really having the fun settle in, a strong wave of loneliness rushes in, and that really makes zero sense. ZERO SENSE, RIGHT?? So either it was my deep wounds of loneliness, neglect, abandonment and rejection that were still lingering in my systems, or I was tuning in to someone else's stuff, albeit strongly. It became annoying AF when I was reviewing my Japanese language lessons and pretty much learning a lot of stuff, when images, visions, smells, sounds, stuff like that kept popping in my head, then the feelings of loneliness, sadness, those things. It was pretty distracting and annoying. It came to a point when I was tired 4 hours after waking up that I finally stood up for myself and said "Whoever *tf* is siphoning my energies, go back to where you came from and stay *tf* away from me!" That really shook me awake, the second I finished hollering it loudly in my head I woke up with a start. I literally became alert, awake, alive, enthusiastic, like wth just happened.

This morning though, around 2AM just when I was halfway through my lessons the strong feelings of despair, sadness, loneliness, and everything else in between came again. The whole thing was so intense, it was actually scary. And it wasn't fear-based too, like I was really trying hard to fend it off but apparently,

The feelings were almost all mine

The energies were tremendously strong

I had a strong urge to flush energies out

I felt I was gonna die if I didn't do it

I had to rush my lessons just to get to it right away. (Thank goodness I still know how to conjugate verbs, or else).

I immediately started meditating like crazy, with a strong intent to release everything that has been preventing me from being my best self. I tuned in, started chanting, and then started doing Reiki, then subliminals before dozing off. Honestly midway through chanting Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad I was already feeling calm and at ease, the feelings went from a scale of "If I don't do this I'm gonna die" to "Heck yeah I don't mind dying right now" I was around the "Meh" mark, which is not that bad. But really, the feeling of danger really was there, I don't know why, if it's a collective thing because of so many things that have been happening lately, or if I was tuning in to my own darkness and I really had to flush it out. It was a scary AF experience and the fact that it sorta went away was pretty mind-blowing. But I'm not saying I had fun here. Not that diving into spirituality is all fun anyway. The sucky stuff has to appear so these can be released back to Source.

So these were the summed-up experiences of my energy clearings and healings so far. Apart from intense dreams, having broken sleeping patterns, and weird eating habits, I guess this is how my spiritual journey is for me, at this point in time. Honestly I just wanted to go to Mount Fuji but apparently the spiritual gunk that I had to release was just as huge, maybe even higher. *siiiiigh*

Well, I guess this is my partial log for doing my clearings, I may be around the 60-day mark now, but I feel like I havn't done much since I did skip some days due to flu and other stuff. I will still do my best to clear out stuff, the Lion's gate portal may soon end but there are still equinoxes and solstices so there are still many energetic portals coming soon so might as well do the clearings and healings. I may update or I may post other stuff, because I still have some stuff to write here, especially the tough love info transmissions.

Kissing Kanzashis

Distant noises teased at the edge of Kagome's hearing as she slept. A particularly young voice squeaking with outrage had her eyes opening. Shippo's voice registered from behind the sliding door.

"Let me in, right now!"

The door panel thudded once, yet remained sturdy. "Lemme in!" Shippo whined, hitting it again.

Kagome shifted, looking beside her. The furs lay empty, but she could feel a barrier sparking over the door, sealing it shut. Sesshoumaru had left her, but not unprotected. "S-shippo? I'm coming, wait a sec," she grabbed a single crutch, easing herself up.

The moment she reached out, coating her hand in pale pink reiki, the youki fizzled and died down. A smile touched her face as she reached for the sliding door, opening it and gasping as a flurry of red hair and a fluffy tail launched itself at her.

Shippo buried his face in her collarbone, gripping her clothes tight "Kagome! You had me so worried! Sesshoumaru came to get me but then he told me to wait in the parlour- but I couldn't wait! I had to make sure you were okay! And then I got lost, and this door burned my hand and-"

"I've missed you too, Shippo," she pecked his forehead, grinning as she held onto the door for support.

The kit beamed up at her, before noticing her precarious balance. "A-ah...he wasn't kidding. Did you hurt yourself badly?" He mumbled, glancing down at her feet.

"I'm okay, I just need to be a bit careful for a few days. Where's Rin, isn't she here with you?"

Bright green eyes lost some of their shine. "She's helping Kaede and another lady deliver a baby...unfortunately someone who DID follow us back from the village was-"

"The nerve! How dare you disobey Lord Sesshoumaru's orders AND leave me with this infernal bag!"

Both Kagome and Shippo's expressions flattened, watching the large yellow bag slowly struggle towards them, punctuated by muffled huffs and grunts. "Hi Jaken," she said anyway. At least that answered where her bag had gotten to.

A squawk escaped from under the bag as the toad shoved it off him, letting it thud to the floor. "Y-you! Curse you, girl! What did you do to your foot? Your carelessness resulted in Lord Sesshoumaru turning his wrath on me!"

Kagome tuned out somewhere during that particular tirade, absently petting Shippo's hair. The kit happily soaked up her attention like a sponge, though the two were brought out of their happy daydream by a foot landing atop Jaken's head. It then briskly shoved down, muffling the Kappa's yelp.

"My, my~ what a racket," delicate tones purred. Kagome's gaze met Inukimi's, whose eyes smile. "Good morning, little children. Or should I say good afternoon?"

"O-oh no. Did I sleep in?" Kagome squeaked, worry thrumming in her stomach. Why did Sesshoumaru let me sleep in? Ah...maybe he was concerned about my ankle.

"Only a tad...you missed breakfast, but it's almost time for our afternoon banquet," the demoness observed, smiling wryly. "So you should probably hop to it- literally in your case, if you want to make a good impression on Sesshoumaru's acquaintances."

Kagome nodded, gripping the sliding door with one hand and balancing Shippo on her shoulder as she reached down for her bag. Her shoulder shifted against the door as her fingers stretched out, struggling. Golden eyes watched her quietly, until perfect clawed nails reach down- picking up the bag and passing it over without a word. The girl started and looked up, only to see Lady Kimi bring out a fan, giving herself a slight breeze.

"Thank you," Kagome murmured, straightening.

"No need for that, but if I could, might I steal your kit?" Inukimi's gaze fell to Shippo, who ducked behind Kagome's shoulder.

"M-me?" He squeaked.

The fan fluttered gently in Inukimi's hand as a soft giggle escaped her, "indeed. It's been so long since I got to play dress up! He's like a little doll~" she cooed in silken tones.

Kagome glanced at her shoulder, "is that alright, Shippo?" Caution had entered her tone. She did want to get on well with Inukimi, but not at the expense of his comfort. Plus the demoness came off as a tad...overbearing. The warmth on her shoulder hesitated, before Shippo jumped off, landing in-front of Inukimi.

"Yeah...I don't mind," he muttered, raising his head. Kagome's eyes widened in surprise as she recognised Sesshoumaru's signature 'tilting up of the chin' that she'd dubbed the 'holier than thou' look.

Of course Shippo's slight squirming threw off the haughty look, but she watched with amazement as he started to follow the demoness, setting his small shoulders. I wonder if it's because he's been spending more time with Sesshoumaru. Well, they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Either way, she felt a bit of pride enter her heart.

After being left alone Kagome realised with dismay that she should have asked for help with her kimono. Tossing and turning on the bed trying to tuck in all the ties was impossible- so she lay back with a flustered huff. The injured ankle wasn't really the problem, she'd just always had Mama or Sango around to help her dress in traditional attire. Honestly all I want is a nice hot bath right now, not a tense banquet.

Turning her head slightly, and feeling the furs tickle her cheek, her eyes landed on the low desk. It looked to have changed since yesterday, as though it had been recently used, what with the used ink brushes and cast away scroll on the surface.

An image came to mind of Sesshoumaru sitting there last night, pouring over his work while she'd slept. Kagome's cheeks heated slightly, hoping she hadn't made any embarrassing expressions.

There came a knock at the door, "my Lady? May I come in? Lord Sesshoumaru asked me to attend you."

Registering the feminine voice, Kagome cleared her throat, "yeah of course."

A servant girl with brunette hair and very small horns entered, gaze averted to the floor in respect.

"It's nice to meet you- um...?"

"Chiyo," the horned servant quietly murmured.

"Hate to jump into this with you Chiyo, but would you mind helping me out?" Kagome gestured to herself on the bed, a mess of rumpled clothing. Her ankle remained pillowed on Mokomoko. She felt too frustrated to be embarrassed.

With a surprised nod, Chiyo helped her regain a more respectable appearance, tying the kimono with nimble fingers. Eventually she had the miko standing, leaning on her crutches with bright blue eyes.

"This would have been impossible on my own, thank you so much."

Chiyo blushed, averting her gaze as she reached into her pocket, bringing out a smooth box about the size of her palm. Kagome blinked as the servant clicked it open, revealing two Tama style kanzashi.

"I forgot to mention these earlier, but the Lord instructed I place them in your hair. May I?"

Kagome barely heard her, still staring at the beautiful hair pieces. "Of course..." she dazedly turned, feeling her hair be gathered up into a bun. The kanzashi were slid in, the prongs themselves glittering silver. The two beads were what Kagome turned to admire in the mirror, her breath hitching. One was white and had a small red flower design on it, much like Sesshoumaru's silk clothing. The clan crest. The other was green and white, which sported a small green sunset.

My house.

Warmth blossomed through her heart at the gift. Any worry about the banquet somehow seemed very far away, and she made her way there eagerly, following Chiyo- though she insisted the Lady should be in front.

A single sliding door later, and Kagome hobbled inside a large room after the servant, hearing senseless chatter from within. Looking up from her feet- countless eyes were suddenly trained on her, the banquet plunged into silence. Unease pricked the back of Kagome's exposed neck, until a figure clad in white shifted in her peripheral vision. Sesshoumaru remained seated at a low table, his clawed hand extending slightly out toward her as he sipped his sake, not particularly concerned.

Kagome quickly hobbled over, leaving Chiyo behind and feeling the heavy weight of the demons attention. The guests, or were they members of the court?- stared at her, no doubt looking at her crutches and judging, maybe laughing. Still, her chin remained level, eyes forward. Pride and stubbornness overtook any hesitance.

Passing by a table, she chanced a look at Inukimi, who smiled with sharp eyes behind her fan. Shippo was not by her side. Kagome glanced around quickly, breathing out with relief when she located him sitting next to Sesshoumaru.

Her hand slid naturally into Sesshoumaru's upturned palm once she reached him. Butterflies took flight in her stomach at the simple contact. His claws closed over her fingers as she held onto him for balance, sliding her arms out of the crutches and taking a seat beside him.

She winced in the privacy of her mind at the sitting position, her weight putting pressure on her folded legs beneath her- pressing down on her ankle. Still, she held her tongue as conversation leaked back into the room. The demons chatted amiably again amongst themselves, and her lungs deflated in a rush of flustered air.

"Wow Kagome you look beautiful," Shippo grinned, tail shifting behind him. Even he seemed to register the tension in the air, but tried to ignore it.

The miko returned the grin, reaching behind Sesshoumaru to ruffle his hair. "Hey now, what about you? That's some fancy get-up you're wearing."

His sky blue happi coat had been replaced with a gentle powdered blue one, made of a much finer quality. His usual billowing hakama had been exchanged for those more befitting his outfit, which looked far too pristine for a child of mischief. At least he'd been able to keep his pelt, she mused.

Shippo fussed with his hair, pouting slightly as he looked at his paws. "It feels itchy. And too tight to move in, plus Lady Inkimi kept pinching my cheeks."

Kagome heard a deep noise, almost like a chuckle covered by a fist. Her elbow bumped Sesshoumaru's in chastisement.

"But, anyway I wanna support you, so that's why I'll put up with all of it."

Surprise lit up Kagome's face, and her touch turned soothing on his red hair, stroking it back from his pointed ears. "Thanks, kiddo. I'm glad you're here...need all the allies I can get. How's your transformations going?"

"Good! I'll show you once I can maintain it! I really think I'm starting to get the hang of it now."

At his toothy grin, she smiled and dropped her hand, letting him dig in to what appeared to be only a meat selection. Turning her attention to the silent presence at her side, Kagome's lashes lowered.

"Sorry I slept in," she whispered.

Sesshoumaru's attention strayed to admire the hair pieces nestled in lustrous black hair. His claws twitched with want to touch. "It is of little consequence. You're here now, are you not?"

"Actually this is an illusion- your Kagome is still asleep," she giggled quietly, fighting the natural urge to grin.

His eyes warmed, and she noticed a secret smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Hn, is she still drooling? Terrible habit for one so fair."

"I don't drool!" Kagome gasped, quieting as she realised her outburst had been a little too loud. Hearing tinkling laughter to her left somewhere assured her that Inukimi had certainly heard it. Jaken sat at the far side of Inukimi's table, obviously ready to attend her. He silently seemed to groan, gesturing wildly with a pained look.

Kagome blinked and finally realised what he appeared to be fussing about. Sesshoumaru's cup was empty. She quickly grasped the sake bottle, glancing up at him for permission. His head inclined in thanks, and long fingers wrapped around the rim, holding the cup steady. She poured the clear liquid into the porcelain, careful not to spill.

After straightening and breathing a sigh of relief, she accidentally caught the gaze of a demon sitting not too far away, his bushy brows raised. So, they really are sticklers for propriety.

As Kagome began to eat, she noticed General Kaito talking lowly to what appeared to be a kitsune woman. She had long silver hair, and a little girl sitting primly by her side that seemed to be the same age as Shippo. Her fox kit had noticed too, his eyes curious.

A nagging thought niggled at the back of Kagome's mind, but she couldn't place why.

"Might I inquire as to your health, Lady miko?"

Her back snapped straight, and blunt teeth nipped at her bottom lip as her ankle throbbed. The silver haired woman with icy blue eyes had turned her sights straight on her.

"Oh, just Kagome is fine-" she said, feeling a stony displeasure lace the air beside her. She turned her head just a touch to see Sesshoumaru's posture turn stiff.

"I'm afraid we must insist on calling you by title, but will Lady Kagome do?" Another noble looking woman asked, cherry bottoms adorning her hair.

"Ah- yeah, I mean yes, thank you. And I'm fine, really."

The silver haired woman gave a delicate, gentile chuckle, and suddenly it dawned on Kagome what had been bothering her about the lady.

'Every demon expects him to wed one of the silver foxes from the South Kitsune clan. Or at least a demoness of high standing.' Hadn't those been the words Jaken had shrilly lobbed at her?

"We're pleased to hear it. Your leg does look so cumbersome though. I trust it shall be healed in a few days?" The woman inquired.

Kagome opened her mouth to answer, but a prestigious looking nobleman cut her off. "Ha! Human injuries take weeks at most, if not months! Hard to believe such frail things are taking over. But what they lack physically, they make up for with numbers."

Tension practically radiated off Sesshoumaru, whose eyes narrow, jaw ticking.

Laughter began to climb into the air, as various demons nodded in agreement, a wry, mocking smile touching some of their faces. Kagome's fingers curled into fists on her lap, hidden by the low table. Shippo's tail twitched and puffed up as he glowered at his food.

"You must feel tired, exerting yourself like this Lady Kagome. There's no harm in keeping to your rooms with such an injury," said General Kaito in his deep, amicable voice. His face was not unkind, but nonetheless, the words loosened her tongue.

"...No, not at all. When Lord Sesshoumaru lost his left arm, did he keep to his rooms?" Kagome gave a smile, a bite in her clear tone.

Stunned silence filled the banquet hall, but she wasn't done yet. "Actually, I'm pretty sure he still patrolled his Lands, and defeated one of the biggest threats to all the clans, not just his own. So, if he can do all that, then I wouldn't be much of a partner if I hid away from the world, lame leg or not. I strive to exert myself as much as possible, thank you."

The demons stared at her for a moment, before familiar tinkling laughter rang out. Inukimi's fan fluttered wildly in her hand as she shook her head with mirth. Truly, she was blessed to see such ancients be rendered speechless by a little slip of a woman.

Sesshoumaru's gaze soon turned to the demons, and he bid they carry on with their meals. His attention soon rested on Kagome again, pride in his usually cold countenance.

Inukimi watched it all, sighing and sharing a look with Jaken, "he's positively smitten, poor boy."

After the banquet, Kagome had made a bee-line for the hot-springs after they'd been mentioned to her. The moment Chiyo had set her bag down, Kagome had dismissed her, happy to be left alone. Slipping into the warm waters, a sigh of relief escaped her as sore muscles automatically loosened.

Cupping the steaming water and lifting it up to her face, it was a relief to let the droplets run down her cheeks and wake her up a little. As her thoughts began to drift, Kagome's fingers curled in her bangs, and she reached for her bag, hefting it onto her shoulder. Drifting further into the springs, she set it down on a marooned rock, digging through it to find her shampoo and conditioner.

"...You are aware that this is considered the men's bathing area?" A rich voice asked.

Kagome squeaked and ducked behind the rock, arm pressed tight across her chest. "Sesshoumaru! I-how did- no! This is the women's, right? It had a red curtain over the door! T-that means it's a women's pool!"

That sounds right to me, anyway. Chiyo followed me inside without a word against it...oh but she's a servant, maybe she wouldn't.

As Kagome grumbled to herself, she jolted as the sound of water being disturbed, rippling loudly. A chuckle escaped her intended, and it sounded a little too velvety and playful in the curling steam. Goosebumps whispered over her skin. "Actually it is a private spring, just for our use. This one was teasing."

The miko peered around the rock, practically hugging the heated stone. "Y-yeah well, there's teasing and then there's getting into a pool naked with me-" she gave another squeak, seeing his outline approach. Kagome quickly ducked out of sight again. Oh God there were twin stripes that dipped down his hips, down towards-

"I'm sure you can control yourself," he uttered in silken tones, and she heard him settle back against the same rock she hid behind. Kagome's red face burned brighter as she noticed the silver strands of his hair spill out, trailing around the stone.

A breathy sigh escaped him, and it occurred to her he might have felt the strain in his muscles too. "Earlier, at the banquet...this one was frustrated."

She blinked, shifting in the water and twirling some of the wet silver strands around her finger as it curled in the waters. "I could tell. Is it because of what they were saying? You know it was kinda expected they wouldn't approve."

"It was. But, nothing could be done by my hand. Perhaps I could have challenged them to a fight-" Kagome winced, relieved he hadn't. "but ultimately I had to wait and hope you would oppose them. Had I silenced them, they'd see it as me wrapping you in cotton wool."

A comforting warmth that didn't come from the heated waters spread down to her toes. "That's alright, I knew you had my back."

Something lurked underneath that warmth in her stomach, a kind of ache that differed from the one in her ankle. It was hot and flowed like liquid in her lower stomach, tightening until Kagome became aware of how dry or moist her lips felt, and her teeth caressed her bottom lip.

Her cheek pressed against the rock, huddling beside it as her thighs squeeze together. "Thank you for the gift, by the way...they're beautiful."

Further still under this anticipation was the awareness of him. Sesshoumaru's presence wasn't easily forgotten, and felt nothing like a normal mans. He listened with a heavy kind of energy that coiled with an intent watchfulness that mirrored her own lately. It felt like they were waiting for a cue, a sign that their kisses could flow into something else. Wanting to inch over the line between chastity and all the things his summer night, honeyed gaze promised. More than that, she wanted to be close to him without any kind of barrier between them, to feel his claws drag down her skin.

A shadow falling over her face caused her to look up.

Kagome exhaled, trying to even out her hitched breathing.

The demon loomed close, and it only thrilled her more to see his gaze darken with want. The air between them became sticky and hot, charged. Sesshoumaru suddenly inhaled sharply, dilated eyes flashing violent red for a moment. "We need to meet with Bokusenō...soon."

She blinked, wondering what that had to do with anything. "Who's that? Your friend?"

"He is useful, certainly."

Kagome smiled weakly, babbling. "It's okay to call him your friend, you know."

Sesshoumaru huffed, lips thinning as he closed his half lidded eyes, the lithe lines of his body tense as is claws reached for her. They skimmed her cheek, until they arrived at their destination in her hair, pulling out the prongs. Her hair fell down in wild waves around her bare shoulders, and his voice halted. "In any case...we may wish to complete our courtship soon. We must seek him out before we do so."

His hand fell away from her hair, instead raising the kanzashi to his mouth, pressing his lips to the Higurashi Tama.

She felt insanely glad the water reached past their waists, but she ducked down further, shuddering in the steaming water. Her arms remained glued over her chest as her cheeks flushed. "O-oh you mean by m-mating? Sure, cool. We can do that," Kagome made a face, internally screaming. Wow, that sounded super sexy. Awesome job- And hey, while we're here, why did he kiss my hairpin like that? I-I guess I wouldn't trust myself to kiss him properly right now either...

"How...exactly does the mating get completed?" She asked carefully, wanting to distract herself but needing to ask. She had to wonder why this sudden talk of 'completing' their courtship had anything to do with meeting Bokusenō. Was he necessary to complete a mating, like a priest or minister?
