I'm so happy to see someone actually call out the obvious grooming in Marcel and Rebekah's relationship. Seriously, the worst part is people use that ship to uplift a white woman (the groomer) in a very, uh wack and racist way.

but the writers didnt care about the poc characters enough to give them decent love stories. Marcel and Cami were cute but even then it was just a plot device for klaus to be jealous and then they just fizzled out in s2 (theres a whole episode worth of Marcille deleted scenes)

Vincent's love interests were all killed or just written off, where tf did that momma from s4 go...no one knows. Yusuf Gatewood even said he thought vincent was in love with Cami but the writers refused to explore it...and then he just became the freelin surrogate

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON FREELIN.....if that ship has one hater....its me

notice how the 3 main POC characters were only allowed happy endings as long as it was connected to the mikaelsons

anyways i went off topic lmfao but yeah Marcel deserved better than what he got. Bex couldve easily been given another love interest or not one at all, considering Cl*ire was barely in the show

It’s clear you like klonnie so I wanted to ask you about another black king/ queen x blonde beauty ship that the writers refused to write because they’re racist. Cami and Vincent, Vincent’s actor was really passionate about this ship and even wanted there to be a scene where Vincent angrily tells klaus that he loved cami too but the writers refused. How do you think a klonnie and camcent dynamic would be in New Orleans, I think Bonnie and cami would get along really well

I think besides being interracial klonnie is very different from camicent.

In general it’s unfair the black actors had to result to headcanons typically involving relationships to try and get any deeper connections or moments on their characters period. When other white actors could have those wants inserted in depending on what it was lol.

I do think Cami (at least the version where she is pushing Klaus to be better) does need to lessen for Camicent to work. Since sometimes her character functioned similarly to Hope being the motive & push for Klaus to be better. I say that as someone who does like Cami/CK.

Which no matter who Klaus was paired up with in canon I think it would happen the same with said character wanting Klaus to be better with those writers that is . It even happened with Caroline..

Cami was very mature but knew how to have fun and wanted the best for people. I can see Bonnie taking a liking to her for that vice versa. I imagine Vincent feeling sorry for Bonnie that she had to figure out this legacy on her own really. So much family drama between the generation before her and no one considered what she needed. Klaus isn’t stupid he knows when he needs an ally. So they’d probably function similar to canon.

This would be a different post but I do think Vincent/Marcel’s treatment is fairly different than Bonnie. Yes, there is some similarities though.

Hi all! 

So, I have had this URL saved for awhile and finally decided to do something about it.  Some of you might already know me as irishcookie.  I run The Bennett Diaries which is dedicated to Bonnie Bennett.  For the most part I share my fic, make fic recs and reblog gif sets (occasionally I make edits of my own but they are no where near as beautiful as what others can do).  

I would like to set up a similar place for Camille O’Connell.  So viola, The O’Connell Diaries is born.  It is a sideblog to TBD but I hope to have as much fun here as I do there.  I have never written Cami as a main character in fic before (but I do rp her on the indie scene) so please be kind as I try this out! 

I’d love to start with some small drabbles and I love love love requests.  So here it goes: 

Send me a ship (any Cami ship, canon or non), and a word and I’ll see what I can come up with!

Is it just who thinks Cami in 4x02 is some sort of ghost and not Klaus’s hallucination? I probably shouldn’t get too excited because JP has managed to crush my Klamille heart more times than I thought was possible. In the 4x02 promo, Cami tells Klaus “You’re the reason you’re family is still alive.” She’s reassuring him, trying to make him feel better. Doesn’t seem like something Klaus’s brain could conjure up. He’s not exactly good at making himself feel better. He thinks the worse of himself (Most of the time). Idk, it just feels like Cami, not Klaus’s wishful thinking. 

Also, I didn’t actually see the first episode completely, but I’ve seen the scenes with Klaus and there’s absolutely no hint of him hallucinating about her. You can never be sure with these writers but I think it’d be too random for him to suddenly start hallucinating after five years.

Also, the whole TVD finale thing happened (Haven’t seen that episode either. I already knew about Stefan. I loved him way too much, like I loved Camille. And I decided my shipper heart didn’t need that blow.) But I know A LOT of dead people are back. 

Idk. It just seems like she’s a ghost? Any thoughts on that?

Also, I read this interview where Yusuf Gatewood said that in his mind, he never really thought of Cami as Vincent’s friend. He thought of it more as unrequited love. I never thought of it like that before reading that interview and watching back some scenes (Yes, I’m still stuck up on Cami. Don’t judge me). I thought it was a possibility and I may have missed it. Watching some 4x01 scenes, it feels like Klaus isn’t the only one who couldn’t let Cami go. He went to Klaus, even reminded him of Cami and the goodness she inspired in her. Everything Vincent did over the past five years, building a sort of refuge for anyone who was tired of the ‘same old’ was something Cami would’ve been proud of. It feels like he’s really trying to honour the promise he made her and keep alive Cami’s wish. I felt really happy that at least the writers remembered that she had an impact on every one in the show, not just Klaus. I like the fact at least Vincent is trying his best to not let her be forgotten.

I agree with you that it makes more sense for Cami to be a ghost if she is telling Klaus things he couldn’t know. And why wouldn’t he hallucinate her wearing something familiar? On the other hand, Michael Narducci said that Cami’s appearance had something to do with Klaus’ psychological state, which seems more like an hallucination than an apparition--unless it’s because Cami has been watching over him and knows he needs her “presence” at that moment. But I can’t remember from watching the TVD finale whether ghosts can interact with the “living”?

Either way, they have confirmed that Cami appears in only one episode so these are the last face-to-face Cami/Klamille scenes we’re going to get.

I saw Yusuf’s comments too, but I think the viewer can interpret their scenes equally as either subtle romantic longing on Vincent’s part or platonic love. But whether Vincent had some romantic feelings for Cami or not in canon, she certainly had an impact on his life as well as Klaus’. It is nice that she was remembered in the first episode (though honestly I wouldn’t expect her name to pop up very often after 4x02), 

I’m going to enjoy seeing Cami again, probably get bitter and angry again at the end of the episode and then give up on the show. My advice, for what it’s worth, is not to expect too much. In my opinion, it’s a ploy simply to get enraged Cami fans to keep watching the show on the pretext that she will have a “presence” in Season 4.

um, hi. camille o’connell is the most unfairly hated character on the originals. all she wanted was good in the world. she wanted happiness for herself, she wanted to find peace. not in death, but within herself. for sean. listen, girl loves her brother so much and she never had that opportunity to say goodbye. and in the beginning, everything was for him. majoring in psychology was not just for herself. ( aurora attempted to imply it was in order to understand her own dark impulses after assaulting the guy at the university ) her primary focus, however, when it came to that subject was to understand why sean did what he did. he wasn’t crazy, and she knew that. 

honestly, camille o’connell deserves the world and more. under canon circumstances, she convinced klaus to have hope, to have the child that the series is entirely based off of, she became vincent’s best friend ( and hi im a sucker for camcent, give me my brotp pls and thank ), she fought against vampires for fucks sake. as a human. as nothing who would be of much power against them. and she was brave. the brave bartender is pretty fitting to be honest. and many people don’t agree. many people assume she’s a carbon copy, utilised only as a love interest. but let me tell you this, she is not. she is her own character. someone with her own morals. her own mind. and she deserves so much better than what the fandom had to say about her, and how the cw decided to treat her.

Does anyone else feel kinda sorry for Vincent though? His bestie who he obviously has a crush on is about to die- and he probably won't even be able to say goodbye because she'll be too occupied with Klaus. Which, I mean, I don't blame her for what she feels, and I hardcore ship Klamille so I'm really looking forward to these scenes... But still, can you imagine how awful it must be for poor Vince?

I don’t know. I use to think he could protect me from anyone until her. Ok, look, you’re a survivor. Well I am going to have to. If history has taught us anything, Aurora will be back. She’ll  get out, and she’ll come for me. And when she does, I can't be wondering who Klaus loves or doesn’t love. I can’t be worried about whether he’s going to protect me or kill her. If I don’t want to be another victim, I’m going to have to kill her myself.
