And for some reason you started blushing at the revelation making the kitten panic, thinking you were embarrassed.

You reassured him. And it honestly wasn’t. There was just no reason to bring up that you like such things.

The children looked at you and nodded in understanding. You thought they got the message that they understood.

However, you missed the silent conversation they had with their eyes. Telling each other that they should keep this fact a secret for you to not be embarrassed anymore.

In fact, he seems to use you as an excuse at every chance he gets.

Both of you are currently attending a celebratory banquet and Cale is using you as his getaway excuse.

Cale thanked her for her understanding before grabbing your waist to lead you out of the hall.

"Uh, erm-" The voice was astounded. And Cale smiled brightly and looked back. Then he raised his hand and pointed at the red dragon. “Eruhaben-nim! It looks like that dragon wants to eat me! I heard it's trait is gluttony." He immediately reported it.

My most favourite battle in TCF is, without a doubt, the Battle of the Gorge of Death.

It was the battle when I fell in love with Cale. Honestly, when I discovered TCF, I started with the manhwa I was reading because Cale was handsome. Really, that's the only reason. But then the season finishes, and I'm not the type to wait, so I started in the novel. I disliked Cale personally. He appeared as a greedy, lazy man who only cares about himself, and I was kinda annoyed with him for depending so much on the others even though he is the MC (I want to kill myself because I thought like this).

But during the battle, I saw his true nature at this moment, and I won't forget this for the rest of my life.

– Are you trying to sacrifice yourself? He had no plans on sacrificing everything. Cale Henituse, no Kim Rok Soo knew. He knew that the reason people earned money, gained power, and lived a busy life trying to find a place for themselves in the world was so that they would not need to sacrifice. It was so that they do not need to sacrifice themselves nor their people. However, Cale Henituse also knew something else. “…Young master-nim, we need to run.” Huuuuuuuu, huuuuuuu. ‘I am the adult. I am the guardian of these two children. I need to take full responsibility since I chose to take them in. I need the Super Rock’s power.’ Cale’s voice echoed in the area. – Are you trying to sacrifice yourself? “Yes.”

This was the moment I fell in love with Cale Henituse.

It's not a whole scene, but I love the little encounters like this one, when they were at the Mercenary Guild's Directory

“Cale-nim.” Cale raised his head after hearing the cautious calling. Choi Han was looking at him. “What is it?” “I wish to help.” Choi Han smiled awkwardly at Cale who was looking at him and continued to speak. “Of course, I am a slow reader and my memory is not that good, but I thought I could still help.” Cale recalled some memories of his past. ‘Team leader-nim, shall I help?’ ‘Isn’t it time to go home?’ ‘Nah, it’s okay.’ ‘Like hell it’s okay. Isn’t your kid waiting for you at home? Go home.’ ‘But…’ ‘It’s fastest and most accurate for me to do it. You don’t need to do this part.’ He moved the conversation he had with one of his subordinates to a corner of his mind as he raised his hand. He then pointed to the second bookshelf. “I think it would be good to look through there.”

We get a sense of his life as Kim Rok Soo, and how he led his team.

But more importantly, we see how Cale/Kim Rok Soo has learned and grown over the years.

In this case, by accepting Choi Han's help. Even though with his ability he probably doesn't need it.

It's fun having a protagonist with so much experience, and the way the author hints at and teases us with his backstory is, tbh, a large part of why I kept reading initially.

I wanted to know who this guy was, who was comfortable with taking down empires and scamming corrupt priests and nobles.

It took almost half the story just to learn about his first ability, but we learn plenty more in the rest of the story.

...for some reason, I can't help but feel like this entire scene parallel's Kim Rok Soo/Cale's life until then. "You need to keep drinking, even if it hurts"...you need to keep living, even if it hurts. You can't give up, you must persist. You must drink what you have. You have to live long enough to watch others grow.

The difference is that, as Kim Rok Soo, he never got to watch others grow up around him. They either left his side or died. Often, all too young. I can see now why the first people he saves are children.

I don't remember if it's been talked about before but I think there's this small misunderstanding where people assume Cale is just...shorter than most male characters in TCF? Which is technically true since he is the second shortest male character among the confirmed character heights, but still...He isn't as short as people think (NOTE: Cale is 177cm).

I'm assuming it's because of his physical age, but I feel like the personalities of characters also take part in it.

An example of it would be Eruhaben, a 1000 years old ancient dragon that's known to be incredibly powerful, wise, and elegant. Yeah, him. You'd expect him to be taller than a lot of the main cast due to his image. But he's only 1cm taller than Cale.

What about our commander's generous hyung-nim, our shining sun Crown Prince Alberu? He's also only 2cm taller than Cale. He's also 1cm taller than Eruhaben.

Even if you consider the protagonists of other stories, Cale is usually taller than them. Kim Dokja (Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint) is 1cm shorter than Cale. Kim Gong-ja (SSS Class Suicide Hunter) and Han Yoojin (The S-Ranks That I Raised) are both 2cm shorter than Cale. There's not much height difference between them but all characters are (physically) older than Cale.

I can understand why there is a misunderstanding though. Cale has an image of being "physically weak, very thin and pale, always coughing up blood and fainting due to self-sacrificing tendencies, and is fussed over by overprotective strong people of almost every race in the world". Not even counting his physical age, his own image makes it hard to imagine him as some big/tall guy despite being a hero and commander. So imagining Cale as shorter than Eruhaben (self-declared father figure) and Alberu (self-declared hyung) just, makes sense???

Au: Everyone’s a Regressor!

- Just what the title says. Everyone (except the villains ofc) is a regressor. Including Cale. Who just happens to be a regressor, transmigrator, and reincarnator. Basically the same plot of Cale lived his first life in tboah and then reincarnated as krs before regressing and transmigrating into his original body after dying as krs. Plot twist though, most everyone else is also a regressor and he has no idea. He has memories of his first and second lives. Including the novel he read before he died, and doesn’t know why everyone is acting so different from what he knows!

- Why is his family being so nice and talking to him?! Why is Ron giving him so much lemonade?! Why does that Punk Choi Han act like he knows him already?! He and Ron and Beacrox know each other?! When did they meet this early?! Who are all these people in his house?!

- Okay? So his father is reinforcing the walls and they are making a navy in the Ubarr territory??? This is great. The heroes and his family are preparing for the war and he doesn’t even have to lift a finger!

- He does still carry out his plans though. Getting the ancient powers, saving Raon and coincidentally finding On and Hong, and helping Taylor and Cage. Speaking of which, Taylor stops his search for the vitality of the heart and just relaxes in Puzzle city with Cage for a bit before they meet Cale. Of course, the god of death still tells Cage abt the benefactor, who was not present in their past life. Cage is shocked to hear from the one who abandoned them in the last life, but still listens to him for Taylor’s sake.

- Deruth doesn’t want to send either of his sons this time, but he is shocked when Cale offers to go. Despite both his parents and Basen trying to deter him, he convinces them to let him go. They agree, only because Choi Han and the Molan duo will accompany him. Deruth doesn’t like the idea sending the person who beat his son to protect him. Much less the ones who betrayed his son to go off and play hero with the offender; but he knows how strong they are. If anyone can keep Cale safe, it’s them.

- Choi Han doesn’t hate Cale, but he doesn’t really like him either. He’s come to respect the younger during the time they spent as allies during the war, but the Cale right now hasn’t faced his future tragedy yet. He’s still young and immature, and acts like trash….right..? Wait- not right?! What is with this kid? Why does he act so different from before?! By all means, he should still be trash, soo why is he acting completely different from their past life? And why does he know things he shouldn’t know at this point in time? Or any point in time for that matter?

- He doesn’t seem to remember their life before, so why is he acting so strange?

- Cale is just trying to make it seem like he doesn’t know half these people so he won’t look suspicious, but why is everyone acting like they know him? He knows he’s never met the crown prince in this life, so what’s with that melancholy look?

- Meanwhile, Choi Han is just trying to find a way to find Rosalyn and Lock without seeming too suspicious. Luckily, Cale sent him away first.

- The vow of death never happens.

- “ I can’t tell you everything, but I can share two truths.” “Oh, there’s no need Cale-nim. I trust you.”

‘Wha..? How can you trust me? We’ve only known each other for a few weeks.’ “Don’t you want information on that secret organization?”

“It’s alright, Cale-nim. I’m sure we’ll run into them again soon.”

‘This punk…Does he know something?’ “Choi Han, do you know something about them?”

‘That’s not possible. Choi Han should have only encountered them once by this point.’

“No. I. Don’t. Know. What. You. Are. Talking. About.” ….

‘Was Choi Han always such a bad liar..?’

- Cale doesn’t get the annual rings right away. Why? Idk, consistency with Tcf plot?

- Everyone knows that everyone has regressed except Cale. Bc it’s funnier that way.

- So we got all his family members tiptoeing around him, trying to see if he remembers but also trying not to jog his memory if he doesn’t. They know the last life hurt him and they don’t want him to have to carry the burden of their deaths. (He does. And he’s not gonna make the same mistake twice).

- The Radish is still a hassle to deal with. Obviously they didn’t see all his powers from the last life as they were completely overwhelmed by the enemies, but with Cale’s help and their experience from the past, they are much stronger and more prepared. By the time the Indomitable alliance comes to the Henituse territory, there are even more secret weapons coming out of the woodworks. Seriously, the enemies are so confused. So is Cale. So is everyone else. Clopeh never stood a chance. It’s like the pointing Spiderman meme. And the enemies are a bonfire in the middle; being reduced to ashes while everyone else is being stunned by each other’s collective strength.

- The only enemy they have a bit of trouble with is the White Star. Not because he’s too strong, no, he’s already no match for Choi Han, Rosalyn, and Lock fighting against him altogether, but with the aid of Eruhaben, they now know that he’s a reincarnator. They have no idea how to kill him for good.

- So basically, they keep encountering him and injuring him further while trying not to actually kill him. Of course, that’s not to say that the rest of the WS allies are a joke, rather, they are just slightly challenging as literally everyone in the two continents speed runs getting stronger to prepare to combat his forces.

- To make it even more fun, none of the enemies retain their memories. Also, the citizens are random on who has memories of their past. Some do, some don’t. It creates chaos.

- Adventurer Bob remembers his past life where he died on his first adventure. He doesn’t know how he came back to the past, but he’s determined to use his knowledge of the future to his advantage! (What knowledge? Bro literally died on his first expedition).

- A middle aged baker in Rain City vows to live his life to the fullest this time! He’s going to build a Wyvern bunker! He’s going to save up funds! And he’s going to make up with his daughter who ran away to become a sword master! He’ll support her all the way this time. They may not be enough, but even if she doesn’t reach that level, who is he to stunt her only chance at survival in the upcoming war?

- Rookie Knight Jeffron has had quite a strange day. He woke up only to hear three of his comrades spouting nonsense about wars and fire and wyverns..? Just what is a wyvern? Must have been quite the nightmare. Psssh! As if! The Henituse territory would never fall to enemy soldiers! And attacking from the sky? Yeah right! What’s next? The Sun god accepts the darkness attribute? Hah! Jokes these days…

- Really, half the city seems to have had too much to drink. Or too little…? What has happened to Young Master Cale?! Some citizens could have sworn he had still been trash in the past. So what has happened to make their young master change so much? He doesn’t seem like he remembers? He doesn’t…right?

Brief summary: Dark Bear is busy with the birth ceremony. Sheritt talks to Eden. Eden is about to be born.

Poor Dark Bear. It seemed like Clopeh lectured him about legends for 3 days and nights, so Dark Bear was adamant at following Clopeh's teachings down to the letter. Or was it because he could hear Clopeh giggling behind him, and he was scared so he was doing his best? 😂😂😂

Sheritt couldn't enter the game, so Eruhaben installed multiple video screens for her to watch Eden's birth. And finally, we got Cale confronting Sheritt about Clopeh.

Cale: Sheritt-nim, why did you let Clopeh Sekka run wild like that? Sheritt: … Raon: … On: … Hong: … Eden egg: … Cale: (Stop being shy and speak up.) Sheritt: *fidgety*

Everyone's awkward silence was so funny. 🤣🤣🤣

Afterwards, Cale asked why she wanted Eden to be born in front of many people instead of just in this room. Sheritt replied that she wanted her child to be born blessed by many. If there was one regret she had for her children when she was planning for their birth, it was that they would be born in a silent castle devoid of actual living beings.

So she had wished her children to be born amid the cheers and joy of many. And now, that wish of hers would be fulfilled through Eden's birth.

She said that because she was a mom, she wanted her child to be loved by many. Eden was shaken by her words, and even more so when Sheritt whispered to him her wish - that he be born safely. And afterwards, to come see "your mother" because she would be waiting for him always.

Eden was so moved by her words that Cale panicked when he saw the time remaining suddenly drop from 12 minutes to 9 minutes, and continued to drop fast. As if Eden wanted to be born soon and come see his "mom" right away. Cale had to run and look for Clopeh to tell him to rush the plan. But Clopeh's reaction was funny. 😂😂😂

He used the Sound of the Wind to run very fast. [Recovery rate 99.996% (time remaining: 0:02:47)] Cale saw it for the first time. “Clopeh!” He called Clopeh's name desperately. Because we had to bring forward our planned schedule. “Cale-nim?” Cale called out to the puzzled man. “Help!” At that moment, Cale froze. Clopeh's pupils shook, and his face lit up with joy. And then tears formed. 'Hey, this crazy bastard……!' He was flustered. But he couldn't help it. Now he was in a hurry. “Two minutes!” He grabbed Clopeh by the shoulders and gave him a quick order. “He'll be born in two minutes!” Eleven minutes earlier than expected. The whole schedule had to change.

Clopeh cried tears of joy when Cale called him and asked for help. 🤣🤣🤣 But Clopeh told Cale not to worry because variables were always present in legends.

Moving on, the Birth Ceremony Progress that was stuck at 197% now shot up to 251%, as if signalling Eden's will to be born. The egg became very hot and floated to the sky. In front of an audience of 120,000 people, the egg descended from the crimson red clouds and sky. Silence dominated the place as Cale and the others worked hard with the "special effects."

Ending Remarks Sheritt's words to Eden was so touching. 😭 Next chapter would be Eden's birth. I'm looking forward to what his appearance would be and everyone's reactions to his birth.

So, in the spirit of that – pun intended – I would be either literally the Indestructible Shield Ancient Power.... Or, if I were a regular person who got transmigrated into TCF world, I would become a baker in the Henituse Territory. Remember that one baker lady in the very beginning, who offered to sell Cale bread that she already pre-packaged for him, and he called her a good merchant? Yup, that's me 🤣

Heck, now I wanna write a Self-Insert fic where the POV character transmigrates as that exact woman and acts exactly as she did in the story because Cale gives her a lot of money lol

I would be the first one to fuel the rumor mill regarding Cale changing, pushing the "Young Master Silver Shield" agenda that he hates because pre-war it was actually VERY important for the public to trust Cale as their Commander, even if Cale hated the idea. There's a reason why he let Alberu place him in that "hero" spot since the start.

Naturally, I would also become the super secret leader of the YHW, aka. the in-universe Cale Henituse Fanclub, and become the author of all the "biography" novels that got written about Cale right away – you know, the ones that even Toonka read despite not liking reading hahahaha...! If not my "Blue Teller" nick, I'd probably go by "Blue Shield" or something similar.

I would also, probably, maybe, definitely, secretly meet up with Clopeh from time to time, to provide him with intel for his Caleism agenda. Nothing TOO personal mind you, I wouldn't do Cale dirty like that, just casual facts that Clopeh would find out eventually anyway, because why not? Better than some dramatic exaggeration that would make Cale TOO heroic-looking lol. Because it's better for the public to know basic stuff about Cale right away, rather than stewing in curiosity and making up an even wilder origin story for him. Which, knowing Cale, is absolutely plausible.

...Would that be kinda evil of me anyway? Probably. But, I'd just call it... Preemptive Damage Control & Management... I mean, even Alberu gave up on that by the end of Part 1 😂

First, it started for hours, then it became days. Days turned into weeks, and before you knew it you have been confined in your room for months now. It’s not like you’re imprisoned inside your room, at least that’s what Ron tells you, rather, it’s for your safety.

You try to understand their point of view, you really do. But man does it get boring and tiring really fast. Especially when you know that the rest of the group is out there, adventuring everywhere.

It wasn’t like this from the start. You used to be part of the missions Cale leads. Used to practically not see the underground manor as you were too busy running here and there. In fact, before that day you used to be the person Cale trusted the most when it came to infiltration.

Then everything changed when you suddenly felt lightheaded before a mission.

“You okay?”

Cale asked as he looked at you with that nonchalant yet caring gaze of his. You held out your hand, asking him to give you a moment before answering.

“I’m fine, I just felt lightheaded for a moment. Probably because things had been so hectic lately.”

Your lover nodded and continued his preparation. However, he made sure to monitor you closely as he was still worried.

Turns out his concerns aren’t unfounded.

One simple lightheadedness turned into full-on dizziness. Then while on the mission you felt more out of breath than usual. You were also sweating more when the work wasn’t even that strenuous.  

You were showing clear signs that you were sick so everyone silently agreed to wrap it up quickly. And you were thankful for that because you barely managed to hold on while finishing the mission.

After that, you fainted and that’s when everyone started coddling you.

“Ron until when must I stay here?”

You looked at the old servant with pleading eyes. Of course that blasted geezer only smiled at you like he always does.

“The young master already told you that you are free to leave your room.”

With that usual calm and composed poise of his, Ron poured tea for you as you finished the last of your dinner. You took the teacup with grateful hands but still flashed a frown at his response.

Both of you knew that was not the answer you were looking for.

“Let’s ask Saint-nim to take another look at you when they come back and we’ll decide from there.”

The answer only made you frown more because you already knew that being as healthy as before is almost impossible. 

And so you tried to control your temper. Logically, you knew that it would only make your condition worse. Could trigger your heart to become erratic once more.

Nevertheless, a part of you has had enough. You felt dead, you felt envious of everyone else being busybodies while Cale wouldn’t even let you outside your room without a servant following your tail.

“We all know that won’t do anything! I already promised I would take better care of myself, why won’t any of you listen to me!? I’m tired… I’m sick and tired of being here! I feel so incompetent, it’ll be better to let me die in the Forest of Darkness!”

At the end of your shouting session, you were heaving and clutching your chest. Ron, already expecting this merely took the necessary measures to take care of you. As he does a knock sounded on the door before it opened revealing Cale Henituse himself.

He entered your room as if he owned the place, well he does but the point stands, and sat down on the side of your bed once Ron was done.

“I could hear you shouting from the stairs. I told you not to get worked up, it’s not good for you.”

That handsome face of his frowned before kissing your forehead. Still angry, you turned your head away from him. Cale’s frown deepened slightly but he let it go, he's not going to stoop so low that he’ll fight a patient.

Ron cleans up before leaving the room, creating privacy for you and your partner.

“How did tricking White Star go?”

You grumbled silently, still concerned about everyone’s welfare.

“It took longer than expected but we had fruitful results.”

“Everything could’ve been done faster if you allowed me to join the war.”

Cale didn’t answer for a few moments. Opting to caress your hair instead. It was as if he was gathering his thoughts. Trying to think of the best way to make you understand his side.

“You’re concerned, I understand… but this is jarring my love. I cannot keep living like this.”

As Cale can’t seem to find the words, you let him know that you understand.

“You won’t I promise, I wouldn’t do that to you.”

Cale let’s go of your hair to caress your cheeks instead. Each stroke of his hand conveys the concern he carries with him every day. He can’t help but worry even though you are in the safest place he knows of.

“So please just bear with it. Just until you stabilize or until we can find a solution of some sort.”

You nodded and that was the end of the conversation as you dozed off thanks to your lover’s doting. It didn’t take long for you to fall into a deep sleep as your heart finally calmed down.

When Cale noticed you were sound asleep he tucked you in before pressing a kiss in your temple.

“I’m not so cruel that I will imprison you, but I do need to find a way to monitor you no matter where you go. Need to make sure that you will be safe at every step.”

Cale stood up from your bed so he could turn off the lights.

“So just until I’ve planted people all over this world and beyond, please patiently wait.”

He walks towards the door to go to his. Usually, he and the kids would sleep with you, but you need some quality rest so they’ll do that another time.

“I’m doing all of this for your safety after all.”

With that, he shut the door behind him. Leaving you inside the little cocoon he has created for you. Unaware of the bloodbath he has been causing in the name of keeping you safe.
