Lahore, 24 December 2024: “No lapse in the security of Christian brothers and sisters will be tolerated on Christmas Day,” said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif while directing all district administrations and police officials to ensure foolproof security arrangements across the province on Christmas Day. She also directed them to effectively monitor all sorts of arrangements on Christmas. She added,”Relevant departments should take all necessary measures to maintain cleanliness around churches.”

 

Madam Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to Increase presence of police and other security personnels in churches in all major cities including Lahore. She also directed them to enforce proper traffic management during Christmas celebrations.

 

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed to provide special discounts to the Christian community in cheap markets. She said,”Cut cake along with the Christian community in Police Meesaq Center to express solidarity with them.”

We ate a lot of cake these past 2 months, Layer's should consider giving us a discount. AFIRI's cafe has excellent dahi baray; I always ask for extra meethi chatni; I always avoid the chopped hari mirch.

I hadn't intended on dedicating a whole paragraph to food; if my thoughts seem all over the place, it's because I am too (context: the narrator is currently travelling from Rawalpindi to Lahore for a long-weekend- one that could've been much longer had AMC not AMC'd in true AMC fashion).

I still get startled when someone calls me "Ma'am"; in the nooks and crannies of my head, we still exist in that 2nd floor bi-seater corridor with edematous feet (we didn't yet know what edema was). Ayesha Company feels less foreign now; still infuriating at times, but snug enough to warrant frequent Freudian slips of me referring to it as "ghar".

On directions by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Christmas cake cutting ceremony was held at DGPR office on Saturday.

Secretary Information Punjab Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani cut the Christmas cake at this occasion to congratulate Christian employees of DGPR office.

He expressed Merry Christmas to all the Christian employees of the department on behalf of Chief Minister, Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Minister Information Azma Bukhari.

On this occasion, Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani distributed Eidi to the Christian employees.

DGPR officers and Christian employees participated in the ceremony.
