I got trapped in Baldur's Gate 3 hell, oh yes I did. Put the damn game down for a little bit to try and put my two Tavs to paper real quick. Pragmatic, adventurous, has too much fun with fire for a white dragon sorcerer Tavylin, and adorably sweet and awkward cinnamon roll of a bard, Caelis.

Tav I made for solo and wanted to blow things up (yay no sun sensitivity for drow); Caelis spawned from a 4-person campaign where I decided it would be a great idea to play the charisma character and built him on the phrase "himbo bard." Make of that what you will.

Just. Im sorry Where the FUCK did the idea that childes constellation has ever "changed" as in. confirmed canon 100% happened. thing. and not just as like. Authors note: How's everyone's day going? Mine is a bit much. With college and what not. I will try doing more for him later on.

— I know, he looks like Dain, BUT it's just a concept art. I'll improve it once I get around to writing for him.

TDP does not use a fantasy conlang alphabet, nor is linguistics (beyond ASL translation) a factor in designing the filler writing and decorative symbols used throughout the setting. Eve of the Signing Party

The next place we see Nyx on guard duty is at the party before the treaty signing. Thankfully this one is a little less confusing. We’ll look a little bit at the setting and the people there as well.

As background information, the wiki has information on the previous iterations of this location in the XIII Verses trailers, concept art and various demos. It talks about how the aquarium and dome have disappeared and reappeared, the area itself has changed, and that even the music (“Somnus”) played during this scene is a reference to the trailers. It also tells us there are posters for the Royal Aquarium that is located in the building, and that the picture in the large water display Nyx and Luna talk in front of depicts Etro, who was quite important in earlier versions of the game but has almost no mention in the FFXV or Kingsglaive we got.

Now on to information we can see in this scene itself!

As stated above, the party takes place on the roof of the Caelum Via (which might translate to “Heaven is the Way”; if it were the more obvious “Way of Heaven/Sky” it would be Caeli Via or Via Caeli, though leaving it in the Nominative could just be a nod to the Royal Family) Hotel & Resorts Insomnia. The name itself implies other locations, though we don’t see them explicitly in the game.

Later in the movie (see the white and gold ad on the left behind Glauca), there is an Altissia location advertised, which says interesting things about trade and connections for sure! Wonder which one came first...

Also on the Insomnian building are the same number/coordinate system we puzzled over on the bridge at the Nyx’s Neighborhood deep dive. There, the bridge had the coordinates N35-41-39, W13-19-36, here the hotel has N35-41-39, W13-21-28, which seem to be rather close indeed.

There is a helipad here (with some sort of crest on it), which raises interesting questions about the state of Lucian air travel. It would seem odd that this exists solely for the possibility of Niflheim visitors, but other than the modified Regalia we don’t otherwise see Lucian aircraft.

There are three tiers of seating at various levels of proximity to Aldercapt and Regis. Nyx (and possibly Drautos) seems to be the only visible guard on duty across all three levels. Even if he takes the posting very seriously (using it to dodge Luna’s attempts to talk, and as a distraction during the talk itself) that does seem to imply he is either the very last line of defense for Luna and/or Regis or just there to look pretty.

Perhaps they negotiated down the number of guards they could each bring, but it does raise the question of where Clarus is...

The water motif continues with this small waterfall and river. It could be a sign of the connection to Altissia (perhaps the chain started there), perhaps a sign that nature or the imitation of it a luxurious novelty in the midst of the very tight urban area, a boast of wealth to pump the water that high and maintain the cleanliness, or perhaps merely a cover to mute the noise of the city and conversation. (though the fireworks likely do an excellent job of that tonight, as well!)

The area is otherwise decorated with the ubiquitous gothic arches of Lucis and geometric patterns, and solely uses a dark blue, maroon, black, gold, and hints of white. Which, appropriately enough, will be the strict colors used in the guests’ dress.

A better view of the middle tier, showing bamboo-like greenery areas and a survey of our crowd. The central gate on this level, through which the water appears to originate, is topped by a six-pointed star or flower, likely a reference to the astrals, which is a nice detail.

The lamps have an art deco feel, perhaps indicating either the age of the hotel or the age it wants to appear, or just a general Lucian aesthetic. I do wonder if the low lighting is less comfortable for the guests from beyond the Wall, who might prefer brighter illumination at night.

You can also barely make out Nyx next to the Aquarium, Regis on the balcony, and Aldercapt and two other important figures from Niflheim making their way up the stairs. Perhaps they were dropped off on the helipad or came through the tiled walkways into the hotel itself.

A close-up of Aldercapt’s robe and the back of the truly bizarre helmet we’ll see a better view of later as the people toast to the Emperor.

And Nyx shows up! Notice how he is very definitely not looking at the Emperor or the commotion.

If we pull our eyes away from our main character, we can see a very interesting statue of a woman in draped clothing with wide sleeves holding a sword above a very colorful collection of bottles. There is a matching statue on the other side. Who or what does she represent?

Beyond her is a/the wall, topped by what seem to be glowing tanks of some kind. These could either be illuminated water towers beyond the (Citadel) Wall, or some sort of light/magical storage atop the wall that helps keep it running, perhaps to replace the ones Ardyn destroyed on the Founder’s Day Attack.

If we pull our attention back to the foreground, between Nyx and the Emperor is a nice grouping of the eight NPC models (four appear male and four female) used in this scene. Keep an eye out for them elsewhere. From left to right: Gray Suit/Gray Hair, Dress with Cap Sleeves/Short Dark Hair, Dark Suit/Medium Hair, Dark Suit/Dark Hair, Blue Asymmetrical Dress/Shoulder-length Light Hair, Maroon Ruffles/Bun, Suit Dress/Short Light Hair, Gray Suit/Dark Hair.

This fountain combines many of the elements of this design - light, water, and statues. And look! Fireworks in other colors! They do exist! It’s also fun to see the light/dark contrast between the two sovereigns.

Another view of the scene, showing the lovely delicate railing of gold and glass. Lurking behind the main figures are Drautos in the background as well as the priest-looking Niflheim Dignitary, similar to the figure who said “Release the Daemon” in the opening battle.

A nice shot of Aldercapt’s robes from the front, showcasing many interesting symbols. The dragon in particular is very neat. Though the cut of his shirt and the harness-like straps across his coat are a bit odd, they are clearly very well made. Nyx is also lurking in this shot. Hi, Nyx!

Here also is the promised front view of the ridiculous helmet. Presumably there are some sort of screens inside, scanning the area and at least allowing him to walk, though the skullcap and the rest of the helmet are also just odd. The collars are very reminiscent of Ravus’s outfits even in Tenebrae before his mother’s death, showing the cultural crossover and similarities. 

The crowd shot of the middle tier shows some very familiar faces, and some oddities. The statues from the bars are also found on this level, and if the central part truly is water-filled as it appeared earlier, those poor guests on the rear squares had quite the journey to get to their spots, not to mention the servers!

Aside from a nice view of Aldercapt's bracers and Regis's cane and brace, we can see the priest-like figure again, and Ardyn! Everyone is still toasting obediently.

And released! The guests can finally sit down. And Luna makes her appearance. How long has she been here? Have fun counting the doppelgangers in this scene as well.

There are tropical fish and sharks in the aquarium, as well as the mini-leviathans. Perhaps another nod to an Accordo origin? Or perhaps the Lucinia Sound and other waters around Cavaugh are warmer than expected.

The wings on the sculpture surrounding the painting is somewhat reminiscent of the armor of the Lucii.

Look at how massive and ornate this whole setup is. The entire area below this upper tier must be support for the aquarium. Fish, a painting, the massive gold and black thing inside, the mirrors in the supports… this is a major display of wealth and technology. It’s no wonder the party was set here. Not to mention it is slightly more neutral ground, for both parties’ peace of mind. Also, note the violin and piano players. They are working hard!

In addition to being nice shots of Luna and Drautos (and the Kingsglaive cuff), these images show off the painting of Etro fairly well. Is she being supported or bound by the organic pillar-like things on either side of her? Her legs are bare, but she is wearing an ornate collar and shirt. What is the lore, Square?!

It’s also very interesting that Drautos and Nyx are set up in corresponding places. What is Nyx’s position that he and the Captain are the only visible guards here? And yet Nyx is not wearing a dress uniform of any kind even here, just the standard uniform with his silver trim and double chain.

Notice how closely Drautos watches Nyx and Luna's conversation, though, and his odd expression as he looks up. Is he smug things are proceeding as he planned, or something else?

El multipremiado guitarrista ha sido pilar fundamental de las  formaciones de artistas de la talla de Chick Corea, Jean -Luc Ponty o  Jeff Berlin y es también uno de los mejores formadores de guitarra del mundo, así como autor de varios imprescindibles libros de guitarra.

Nacido en 1954, Scott Henderson creció en una era en la que el blues-rock estaba en pleno auge. Sus años de formación musical tuvieron lugar en el sur de Florida, donde tocaba cualquier género, desde Led Zeppelin a James Brown, con todo tipo de bandas en los clubes de la zona. Mientras aprendía el instrumento asimilaba las influencias de Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix y Ritchie Blackmore, además de los grandes guitarristas de blues Albert King y Buddy Guy. Pero su estilo propio de tocar la guitarra le llevó al terreno del jazz, género por el que es reconocido a nivel mundial. 

Tras trabajar con Chick Corea, Jean-Luc Ponty, Jeff Berlin y Joe Zawinul, formó, en 1984, la banda Tribal Tech con el bajista Gary Willis. En 1991 fue proclamado por Guitar World como el guitarrista de jazz número uno, y en enero de 1992 obtuvo el mismo galardón en la encuesta anual de los lectores. Su primer álbum de blues en solitario, 'Dog Party' (una bienvenida retrospectiva a sus comienzos musicales), ganó el premio al mejor álbum blues de guitarra en 1994. 

El segundo álbum para Mesa/Bluemoon Records emparejó a Henderson con la legendaria vocalista Thelma Houston. hello i may have made it clear that i love this post already but. inhales. there's more to it too at least when you have My brainrot on the subject so let me add some of my musings to the OST thing too

so like, firstly, something that's just genuinely rent free for me and has been Since the narwhal has been a thing is just straight up the fact that childe's third phase is literally. called. "wrath of monoceros caeli". wrath of the celestial narwhal. when story-wise it is made very clear (they even double down on hammering it home when the track is played in the first genshin concert) that this scene. this phase of the fight during the liyue AQ. is EXPLICITLY about his individual outburst directed straight at us. his rage at thinking we have played him for a fool and gotten to the gnosis first.

HIS wrath. the song that they composed to showcase HIS emotion and rage. is called the wrath of the CELESTIAL NARWHAL.

like i keep joking about the same entity allegations going undodged between ajax and his narwhal but. holds head in hands JUST LOOK AT THIS. they could've called it the wrath of the harbinger or the young lord or the warrior or whatever the hell. wrath of the all-conquering tide. etc. but they called it the wrath of monoceros caeli. they pretty much made it so that "celestial narwhal" is essentially a SYNONYM. for childe ajax tartaglia in this occasion. this kills me irl

then there's the very clear whale sonar featured in the song too - not just the way the OST in general features very whalesong-adjacent sounds, but straight up clicks starting at 1.53 and the nature of those. because the only other OST that has featured explicit whale sonar motifs is silhouette of catastrophe AKA narwhal stomach phase.

(it's a whole thing there. TLDR with the beats and specific patterns of sonar used there they literally created the OST equivalent of "toothed whale aggressively hunts you down for sport in the dark and is About To Close In On You" as a sound. it's so sick i could talk about it forever. whereas in wrath of monoceros caeli the clicks are a lot more neutral, inquisitive almost, the kind a whale will use just to scope things out. was his narwhal lowkey checking in on him through their connection upon sensing his outburst of emotion? tbf this is just me reaching but kjwdjkdwjkwdjk it's such a rent free concept i love to think about it being a thing)

but like. isn't it so curious how whale sonar has been invoked in so few occasions and they wanted to feature it in the song about childe and his wrath in the golden house... like what does it meann.

(also if it was his sonar purely during wrath of monoceros caeli. why wouldn't it have been hostile and explicitly predatory the way the narwhal's sonar is during silhouette of catastrophe? Curious.)

and then YEAH lightless dissonance is just. wrath of monoceros caeli 2: electric boogaloo it's wild. and yeah sure people can argue about it being just because childe's About to show up but methinks there's more to it. they invoked the narwhal by name and through whalesong and sonar in a song about ajax' wrath. by this point i think the argument at best is that they're a package deal lmao

but like. a thing i keep thinking about with lightless dissonance is the way that initially the parts of wrath of monoceros caeli being included in the track when only the narwhal's appeared are childe's parts of the song that he doesn't share with any other harbinger's OST. and then it's only when ajax appears that the fatui leitmotif part of the OST appears. and i can't help but wonder if that's the difference there.

like the parts that play before ajax appears in foul legacy and before the leitmotif kicks in. are the parts of the OST that are about the constellation of monoceros caeli and that they both share and embody. because like, yeah that sound is building up to childe's jumpscare teleport appearance for sure, but that is ALSO the sound they CHOSE for when the narwhal is soloing neuvillette and about to enjoy a delicious french buffet. which is so curious to me. they purposefully had them share that sound. and had it fade out the second the narwhal dives back into the primordial sea and by that point it's only the fatui leitmotif playing.

anyway this will be haunting me for the next 3 years. hoyo give us answers

I want whatever the All Devouring Narwhal and Tartaglia have because damn.

The new OST release made me gave me another smack of how intertwined they are when the Narwhal makes it's appearance. Tartaglia's boss third phase is all over that track. Sure, you could argue that it's because his Foul Legacy makes an appearance and the motif does make an appearance when he comes onto the scene but christ.

There's something about a trans-dimensional creature being irrevocably bound to a mortal like Childe. Are they eldritch soulmates? Are they kindred? Two sides of a very strange coin? Is one impacting the other more? I don't know but it hits.

“Her Majesty has returned.”

The announcement prompts the people in the room to sit properly, all traces of earlier weariness becoming invisible.

Walking in the room after the doors are held open is the royal lady herself, followed by the Justiciar—which rose some minor bewilderment.

They aren't exactly on the best of terms, per se.

“You've come back,” Albedo takes a moment to cough into his fist, the strain on his exhausted visage too prominent to bother overlooking, “May I ask how the ceremony went?”

The Queen's firm stare at her sibling lingers for a good moment before answering, “Splendidly.”

It roused genuine surprise. Certainly, plenty thought that the event will fail halfway due to some people's reluctance.

“I have a feeling that it went surprisingly well because the Justiciar is also there to appease everyone's fear of the Queen,”

Childe, who is seated next to the Duke, speaks the taboo, to which he's given a pointed look by the latter. It does not dampen his bold smile, however.

Zhongli steps to claim a seat next to the Caeli noble, nodding in affirmation, “Her Majesty actually conversed well with the children. Squire Rota is a witness.”

The Queen only blinks, as passive as she can be, though she does emanate some vexation. No one knows why—perhaps it's because she has spent some time with the Justiciar.

She hums, giving a nod towards Albedo before turning away.

“Kazuha,” the servant straightens at the call of his name, “Get my horse from the stables, would you? The palace is stifling today.”

“Right away, my Queen.”

The rest watch as the two leave the room.

When the footsteps have receded, Zhongli wrings his fingers together and looks everyone in the eye.

“... Her Majesty is rather fond of children.”

Albedo stutters with a cough, “Have I misheard? Fond, you say?”

He reaches for a glass of water that has been prepared at his bedside, swallowing it all in a few gulps as if it'll do well to wash away his shock.

Met with confusion, the question arises, “It appears that way... is something the matter?”

Childe leans back on his sit, lower lip puckering out in thought as he muses, “It's just that—the Queen never really thought much of the youth... she didn't sentence any to execution, but nor did she give them any of her time.”

His claim is all but reliable, given that he sometimes operates upon orders of the Queen—and never was he given the command to lay a hand on the minority.

If anything, she acted blind to them, without care.

“So it's a little odd to hear...” he drawls off to a finish.

“I see,” Zhongli thinks back to the scene when the royal in question is humoring an orphan's chatter, “Then it is a change, you can say?”

How strange.

“A surprising thing...” whispers Albedo, his eyebrows furrowed.

He won't exactly define it as a change...

“Gh-”

You hold your head after feeling a wave of dizziness, pulling the reigns to get the horse to slow to a trot and to an eventual stop.

An indescribable burn nestles in the back of your eyes and the whole of your chest, it's suffocating. It's sudden.

Another horse stops just at the side.

“Your Majesty?”

You pinch your eyes shut for a few seconds, attempting to collect your prior composure. And you do.

The burning spell dissipates, fortunately enough. Maybe you've gotten too fatigued today.

You clear your throat.

“The Decas Festival, it's a couple of months away, isn't it?”

Kazuha's brows crease to a slight frown. Seeing it almost drive you to scoff. You don't need any concern.

He must've picked up on your growing frustration, because he's looking away sharply, speaking of the answer you've been waiting for.

“... Yes, my Queen.”

You tip your sight towards the setting sun and the bleeding color it suffuses throughout the sky.

Held once every decade, 'Decas' is an event in which representatives of each Kingdom will come to gather. It isn't so simple, actually, and it's not sought after by the common folk.

Calling it a festival is a means to shroud the actuality that it is a competition—a match where two victors will emerge with the reward of an order, a command that is supreme and that no one can disobey.

It's rewarding, yes—that is, if you remove the facet of the permitted slaughter of the representatives.

A bloodbath, a battle of avarice—for a cardinal order that disregards written laws and morals.

That said, attendance is actually optional. After all, who would want to risk their lives in a competition... that if won, can grant them a once in a lifetime supremacy.. ?

There are choruses of whispers and murmurs in your head.

Kazuha grips the reigns tightly as he dreads to ask, “Will you attend it, your Majesty?”

You huff with a smile, feeling the last warmth of the sun's ray disappear past the horizon.

“I wonder.”

a/n: so it's said that mc didn't actually care for children at all back then, hence childe and albedo's genuine surprise. mm, is mc having a change of heart? what's with the attitude, mc, you're a lil suspicious- also festival is finally mentioned. we're nearing the apex :weary:

Beauty. It was the first word that came to Finn’s mind every time he thought about you.

But what was beauty, exactly?

For Finn, it probably was the way your lips curled in a smile every time you caught him looking at you, or the way your hair framed your face.

It was the shape of your eyes, and the colour of your skin.

It was the way you examined your reflection, searching for the smallest imperfections and fixing them with your make up, not realising that there was nothing to fix.

It was the way your whole face lit up when you were talking about something you loved, and the way you suddenly got embarrassed when you had the impression that you were talking too much.

It was the way you rolled your eyes when he made a stupid joke, the kind of joke that’s not even funny, turning your face to hide the fact that he had made you laugh, nonetheless.

It was the way your fingertips traced the freckles on his face and back, and the way that your hand found his in the middle of the crowd.

It was the way you fell asleep on his shoulder when you were reading to him, and even the way you started snoring when you were particularly tired.

It was your strange and infectious laugh.

It was the way your brows furrowed when something upset you, and the way you couldn’t stay angry with him for more than a few hours.

It was the fact that you made him feel at home.

It was the fact that you were home.

Maybe he didn’t know the definition of beauty, but he was sure that his own concept of beauty was deeply linked with your existence, and it wasn’t related to something as ephemeral as your looks, but it was in the very essence of your being.
