Volkswagen T2 (T3), 1979. The third generation T2 was the final rear-engined VW and the last air-cooled boxer-engined Volkswagen made in Germany. It was also the last cab-over generation of VW van. It remained in production in Germany and Austria until 1992 but in South Africa was made until 2002

Cab Calloway (Stormy Weather, Hi De Ho)—TRULY THE SCRUNGLIEST. Nobody ever did it like him, your honor. The music, the dance moves, the hair, the unbridled charisma that comes across just the slightest bit unhinged. If I had to build the pillars of scrungle, they would be as follows: talent, showmanship, sportingness, and absolute commitment to the bit, all of which Cab Calloway has in SPADES. He was a great actor, a great singer, AND a great bandleader. Truly, nobody was doing it like him, before or since.

Groucho Marx (Duck Soup, A Night at the Opera)—groucho marx somehow manages to be a romantic lead despite every single one of his characters hating romance, hating leading, hating the shit he's going through, and in general being real soft mad about it. but most iconically, and this is important: he is having the time of his LIFE. also important is that my father's one request for his funeral is that "whatever it is, i'm against it" must be played. groucho marx is a scrungle close to my heart and soul.

What is NOT scrungly about him? The painted-on mustache and eyebrows (and the countless cartoon parodies thereof)! The rolling eyes and waggling eyebrows! The truly weird ways he moves his body when walking and dancing! But most of all, the wordplay and sarcasm - possibly no actor has ever made me laugh harder than Groucho.

look just. please. please. his head is in a jug. and i couldn't find the clip on youtube but this scene ends with him chucking fruit at the villain. THAT'S the crowning moment of heroism: throwing fruit at a man stuck in a door. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT THIS MAN AND HIS SONGS ABOUT GOING TO WAR, AND ALSO BEING AGAINST EVERYTHING.

Listen, his face is literally the glasses we use as a joke. HIS FACE IS JOKE GLASSES. DO YOU SEE MY VISION??

i am a chronic "i need to watch that"-er, and i'm very lucky but also cursed to be surounded by excellent friends always recommending me excellent things. and i finally want to get off my keyster and actually WATCH them, but i have so many different serieseseseses i'm in the middle of that it's really hard to commit to one. so i made a watchlist of every series i'm either watching, beginning to watch, or wanting to watch. and then i decided to do the same with movies. and books i'm reading/want to read. and decided i should keep track of my art ideas and projects too. and this is great because with the shows especially, i've made a system where i watch one (or more if i have the time) episode of a show a day, and then make my way down and alternate between shows every day. and so far this has been working out great for me. but standing back and looking at my list is just making me say Oh, god. if you're wondering what's Eliza watching/reading/needing to work on, i have excellent news for you:

i'd also like to add that this is all on top of a continuation of last year's resolution in which i have thousands of golden age cartoons listed in a google doc, i roll a random number generator, and let it dictate the GAC i watch for the day. i am drowning

save rock and roll should be explored more as a concept album. because while I don't think it was intended to be one like danger days or american idiot theres so clearly a STORY there. we have a whole hours worth of Story there and that story is ALSO IN THE LYRICS. normally I'm an "rpf is fine" girl but with save rock and roll theres such a clear concept behind the album that I cannot see it get boiled down any more to the "hiatus reunion !!! album" anymore

like does the story behind srar come from the hiatus? yes, it plays a MASSIVE effect on the story. the entire story practically IS a more violent form of their hiatus if you think about it. but also there is a concept with characters and a plotline we can also be exploring!!!!
