airsLLide No. 471: EC-BJC, Convair CV-990A Coronado, Spantax, Palma de Mallorca, April 8, 1986.
Lined-up to rest: This line-up is a sad one, as we see seven retired former Spantax Coronados literally sitting pushed aside and into the dirt. They all have been retired gradually at the end of the past two or three holiday seasons, and their remaining four sisters that are still active (at least formally, on a stand-by basis) will very soon join them.
From front to rear, we see EC-BJC (ex N5610, American Airlines), EC-CNJ (ex HB-ICE, Swissair), EC-CNF (ex HB-ICG, Swissair), EC-CNG (ex HB-ICA, Swissair), EC-CNH (ex HB-ICH, Swissair), EC-BTE (ex N5609, American Airlines, later Modern Air), and EC-BXI (ex N5603 American Airlines, later OD-AFI, MEA Middle East Airlines). EC-BJD (ex N5611, American Airlines) parks some 200 yards further to our right, on the outer edge of Spantax' maintenance ramp, but also retired for good.
