Some lines for King because the last ones I made are nearly a year old (Jesus Christ), it gets cut under a readmore after a while just for everybody's sake, don't want people scrolling constantly to get past this. I'm going to add more lines and there will be an edit log for when I do.
Lastly, I'm putting this in the main tags bc I'm cringe and free <3
PART OF EDIT 11: THIS IS BEING PUT UNDER A CUT NOW AS THE EDIT LOGS ARE BECOMING TOO LONG FOR COMFORT
Edit 1: I've added lines for when a heist goes loud, and some for when he kills a special.
Edit 2: More lines have been added during assaults, the "smell" one liner, and there are safehouse lines plus lines for reviving heisters. Lastly, his speech for the First World Bank is added.
Edit 3: Lines for calling to other heisters were added, along with cheers when a door/vault is opened, warnings during assaults, and small curses/shouts for any situation like the vault door being locked, and taking officers as hostages, and using throwables. More pager lines have also been added.
Edit 4: Broken drill lines have been added, plus more lines for doors being opened and some for when tear gas is deployed. Also, more basic special lines have been added, lines for when he's revived, when cops are retreating, and more general safehouse lines.
Edit 5: A basic cheering line, telling people to get up, lines when low on ammo, calling for help when cuffed, more lines for reviving other heisters, explosives being placed on walls/doors, warnings for assaults have been added, more lines for waiting in casing mode and masking up, getting into vaults/doors, and, the First World Bank speech has been updated.
Edit 6: Telling other heisters they need to get out, warnings for cops coming in from the vents, more "it's finished" lines now involving computers, more for being hurt, and more lines to tell heisters to grab everything in a vault.
Edit 7: Just more pager lines.
Edit 8: Smoke and helicopter warnings, more lines for being hurt, more lines for "follow me/hurry up", more lines at the end of assault waves, and more comments DURING assault waves.
Edit 9: More "get down" lines for civilians have been added.
Edit 10: "Sit down" and "answer me" lines, lines for a computer needing to be fixed, lines for finding objectives (doors, vaults, keycards, etc), more warnings for cops on the roof, and lines for seeing the escape vehicle.
Edit 11: Lines for getting all loot in a heist, confirming orders, worried/anticipating, quiet broken drill/computer lines, healing, more for the heist going loud, and completing the final objective.

NEW GAME DARKBORN MAKES YOU A LITERAL MONSTER SEEKING BLOODTHIRSTY REVENGE
BY BRANDIN TYRREL IGN is proud to exclusively reveal Darkborn, the debut game from developer The Outsiders. Previously codenamed Project Wight, Darkborn is a story-focused action game where you literally play a monster in a classic revenge story.
Though still in development in a pre-alpha state, Darkborn is a first-person mixture of stealth and action as you inhabit one of the titular creatures in a bid to visit vengeance on the Viking-like humans who inhabit the world.
But there’s more to it than pulping your way through grunting, barbaric Norsemen. Darkborn is positioned to tell a unique story revolving around opposing powers in the world, while you and your family are caught in the middle. As evident from the 15-minute gameplay reveal above, the opening moments of Darkborn paint the picture of a caring family unit that’s literally ripped apart, sparking your journey to grow and evolve from a cub to a predator, gaining size, strength, and incredible bestial powers.
Speaking with The Outsiders co-founder, project lead, and longtime Battlefield and Payday developer David Goldfarb, Darkborn is about putting you on the other side of the sword, so to speak.
“Darkborn is first and foremost a game about being a monster,” Goldfarb said. “Playing it is about experiencing that monstrous quality – in first person combat, in novel abilities and movement, and even in enemy reactions to you.”
“But it’s not traditional in that humans are murderous, cruel enemies bent on your extinction. You yourself are an innocent caught up in a much larger conflict between Powers, the specifics of which become clearer in the course of the game. It’s a classic revenge story, but also a mystery: what happened to the world and your people? Can they be saved?”
Darkborn’s inspirations are similarly varied. The idea was pulled together from twists on classic epic literature like John Gardner’s Grendel being the biggest influence on Goldfarb, pop-culture staples like King Kong and Bambi, and video games like Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of the Colossus.
“What if the Orcs [in Shadow of Mordor] were the good guys?” Goldfarb said. “What kind of lives did those great beasts [in Shadow of the Colossus] have before you came to murder them?”
At a scant 25 members, The Stockholm-based development studio has been working on Darkborn for nearly three years, albeit with a much smaller development team for half that time – the exception being some outsourced art, and the audio team Two Feathers which is responsible for the incredible, yet heart-wrenching crunches, cries, and whimpers of Darkborn’s opening minutes.
“Originally [The Outsiders] was founded to try to make the types of games we wanted to play that we felt no one else was making,” Goldfarb said. “Darkborn was the first of those games.”
Though there’s currently no release window, The Outsiders’ vision seems to be coming together nicely as Darkborn makes its way to an eventual PC release with the possibility of a home on consoles over the horizon.
“We hope people experience a new perspective,” Goldfarb said of his hopes Darkborn players. “We want them to want to help this lone creature succeed against seemingly impossible odds on their journey of knowledge and vengeance.”
So while there is a huge component of traditional power fantasy in the player’s own growth across the game, there’s also the ‘man this poor thing had it hard and it’s terrible what the humans did and I’m going to help’ element that propels the narrative and, we hope, player engagement.”

Valve has leaked player counts
Before Valve was able to plug the hole these numbers escaped:
The following table represents a small selection of the top games with Achievements on Steam, as ranked by number of total unique players (i.e. the number of Steam users who have played the game at least once) as of July 1, 2018 and as collected by Steam Spy's Sergey Galyonkin. The data was extrapolated from the Achievement percentage data provided by Steam's API, so games that do not have developer-set Achievements are not represented. Please see the description on the previous page for important caveats about usage of this data, and download this CSV file for player data from over 13,000 Steam games.

Closed starter for: @hannah-oc-palace
A bar was the last place you'd expect to find Dean King, with his hatred for alcohol and the drunks inside, but he had gotten to a point where he needed something to help him get over the events of the past few weeks. From getting his ass kicked by a dozer on a heist to arguing with other members of the Payday gang, it'd started to become too much for him, but he couldn't just leave, not now.
So there he sat, on a stool that hurt his ass with a cheap bottle of beer in his bandaged hand. While wrapped up in his own thoughts, he didn't even notice the sound of someone else walking into the building.

Last Resort
Characters: (Payday) King
Warnings: None
Notes: This was just something I made in an attempt to push through writers block.
King could feel his heart in his throat as he sprinted through the bikers club, bullets whizzed past him as he placed one hand onto the bar and vaulted over it. Hitting the ground on his ass, he knew he had mere moments before things got a lot uglier. He raised up his Crosskill with shaky hands, sliding the magazine out of its place to look at how much ammo he had left... Or, really, the complete lack of ammo.
Just his luck, wasn't it? He needed to keep a better count on how many rounds he had left, but it was hard when he was more focused on not catching a hail of them to the face. The worst part of that magazine being empty wasn't that fact itself, no, what made it ten times worse was the fact that he didn't have any other mags. He remembered that had been his last one, practically crammed into the gun behind some shoddy cover he'd taken outside.
With footsteps approaching, he knew he had to think fast. His eyes darted around the area as he stuffed the Crosskill back into his holster, squinting as he looked for anything he could use to fight off the armored cop that was quickly advancing on his location. It was a bar, at a bikers club, there had to be something- all of the bottles had already been destroyed in the initial shootout to save the mechanic. And, well, King didn't feel like throwing literal shards of glass.
The heisters entire body jolted as his eyes laid upon a drinking glass, knocked over, yet not broken. He'd take whatever he could get his hands on, so in a moment of desperation, he reached forward and took a hold of the glass before leaning back into the bar. It was hard to listen in close with the incessant gunfire and shouting outside, but it was easy enough to roughly estimate how close the cop was. King slowly turned himself around, his knees pressing against the wooden flooring as he prepared himself for his next move.
Do or die.
He shot upright, taking the split second of shock from the cop and using it against him. He threw the glass at him, first, he tried to avoid it- but when it hit, he was disorientated. King once again reached over, his hips slamming against the bar as he took a hold of the cops neck and yanked back towards himself, taking a step backwards at the same time. Once the officer had turned into the one leaning over, King pulled downwards. The others lower half went up as his upper half went down, his weapon being lost in the process and clattering onto the floor.
With the cop struggling as he was pulled down to the ground, King let go of his neck to stand upright and raise up his leg, quickly and desperately stomping down onto the back of his head. Repeated blows to the back of his head were enough to stop him from fighting back in any way that really mattered, and as he watched his struggle become weaker, he knew he had a moment of reprieve. He didn't waste it, once again jumping over the bar and this time, landing on the firearm that had been dropped.
King crouched down and grabbed onto it, a shotgun- Reinbeck. His head snapped to look back behind the bar, where the officer now began, or made an attempt, at least, to stand back up. Before he could however, he was met with a direct shotgun blast to his back, which shredded him like paper, forcing him back down- for good.
As the heister started to get a grip on his situation once more, a blunt and sudden pain roared through his back. Someone had the same idea as him, shoot them in the back. Unfortunately for the officer, it didn't kill him. King spun around, racked the shotgun and fired blindly. The pellets landed on the armor, which staggered the cop, but also didn't kill him. He racked it once more and slammed the trigger, only to be met with a faint click. Why the hell didn't that cop reload when he was walking up to him?!
It didn't matter, there was no point in questioning a dead man's motives at that point. King thought fast, changing his grip on the shotgun to hold it almost like a bat before throwing it. It clashed against the cops chest, and King rushed forward. His shoulder reared ahead, and smashed into the cop, yet he didn't stop his run. No, it was forced to a halt as he slammed the cop into a wall.
His hands moved to the officers pistol, which they began to struggle against one another for control of. King continued pressing his shoulder into his chest, using the rest of his body to yank off to the side in an attempt to rip the weapon away from the officer. But he wouldn't let go, not without a little bit of encouragement. That encouragement would be delivered swiftly, in the form of Kings elbow meeting his helmet. It stopped it from damaging the cop in any serious ways, but it didn't change that an elbow had still slammed into his face.
That lone hit was the last thing King needed to get the advantage, pulling the handgun away before pressing the barrel of it up to the officers face, right next to his own. Without thinking, he fired. Blood splattered from the new hole in his head, and his ears screamed in displeasure at the sudden ringing. He stepped away from the cop and let his body slump down the wall, and he knew there was still more work to be done as the battle raged on outside.
King once again began a sprint, armed with a single magazine in the stolen pistol, he just hoped he could get to one of the others fast enough to get some ammo for his own weapons before he fell victim to a lack of bullets to defend himself with. He made his way out of the bar, and back to the outside, his destination being the mechanics workshop, which he could hear the gang shouting inside from.
He'd survived plenty of assault waves already, even if this one was a little more difficult than usual, his confidence in his and the gangs capabilities were unwavering. What was one more shootout?

Stealth Is An Option
Characters: (Payday) Bain, King, Houston, brief mentions of Dragan and Jacket
Warnings: None
A quiet bank hit, it was easy enough for most heisters, with the exception of the new addition to the crew. Bain had requested for the resident ghost, Houston, to show King the ropes of a stealthier approach. Going in quietly was something he'd done before in his line of work, but it never stayed quiet for long, always ending in a blaze of gunfire and screaming.
With the Payday gang however, there were simply too many cases where an approach like that would only screw them over. And once King admitted that fact, it seemed beneficial to have one of them walk him through it. Training with Houston in the safehouse worked fine enough, but the only way to tell if he could be sent in without starting a firefight was to give him a real job. That's what led the heisters to where they were now, standing in front of a Harvest & Trustees.
Just in case the attempt did end in more bloodshed than they anticipated, they brought along two of the crews better fighters. Jacket and Dragan waited outside, taking drags off of their respective while they waited, anticipating a fight at any moment. To Bain, it seemed like it would be downright reckless to just send two heisters alone, especially when one wasn't fully confident in his capabilities. Neither Houston nor King tried to argue with it, Houston tried to assure Bain that with him around, he'd be able to get King through it easily. It was the opposite on the others end, saying that if it did go to hell- he'd be able to handle himself.
Glancing over his weapons one last time, Houston looked over to King, he'd armed himself with a suppressed Chimano and a combat knife. With no armor on, he would be able to slip right past anyone without them pondering his intentions for a second. That was something Houston hadn't explained to him, which led him to believe he'd had more experience with blending in than he let on. It made sense, the way he carried himself spoke volumes about his past, despite his age.
"You can handle yourself, right?" The ghost questioned, getting a nod in return. "Alright, just checkin' man.. remember, you go through the back and I'll go grab the drill. Find the keycard, take out the cameras." He explained once more, as if they hadn't gone over the plan twenty times before leaving. King understood why he was doing this, but it didn't mean he wasn't ever so slightly annoyed. "Yeah, I got it. Let's get our payday."
One last shared nod between the two and they were off, Houston was quick to cut open the fence next to him with his pliers. Crouching down and moving through, he caught sight of the thermal drill, stashed in the trunk of a parked car. While he went off to do that, King moved down the sidewalk and around the back. Walking past the large sign, he took his mask out from under his suit jacket and strapped it onto his head. The back door was wide open already, someone had to be close. Hopefully the bank manager, maybe out for a smoke break.
Taking out his concealed blade, he held it close to his leg while moving into the narrow hall. The chatter and noise from the main room would make it much easier to get away with a couple things, a sudden yelp or two wouldnt raise much if any suspicion. A damn near silent thermal drill would also be unidentifiable, as long as no one got close.
The security office was immediately spotted out by King, next to the staircase and the hall he now walked out of held it. The door was locked, obviously, so that's where the keycard came into play. Footsteps from the stairs above caught his attention, either a guard or the manager. Either would work. They sounded as if they were moving away, up to the roof. It would make sneaking up on whoever it was even easier, perfect for him, not so much for the other guy.
Slipping past the sightline of the door ahead, King began to make his way up the stairs. He did his best to make as little noise as possible, trying to time his steps with the others. Light taps from their shoes was all that the two could hear, if there was another pair moving unevenly from that then it would make them start questioning. This approach forced him to go slower than he would've liked to, but the benefit was that it gave the crook time to identify just who he was running into. And it was indeed the manager, easily spotted out by his classy attire.
Killing him wasn't an option, but King kept the knife out for intimidation nonetheless. He looked a little outside to see if anyone else, or god forbid a camera watched him from the roof. But luckily enough, there was none. Now he just had to stop him before he did reach someone else that could see him, picking up his pace rather suddenly, King closed the gap between him and the manager in seconds. One hand reached around and grabbed him by the mouth, and the other held the tip of the knife to his back. A muffled gasp left him, and his hands shot up into the air. "Stay quiet." King commanded, his voice low and husky.
To stay alive, the manager followed Kings order and following motions. He was slowly brought down to the ground, and his mouth was released, allowing him to breathe a little easier. But not by much, as the danger of an armed robber was still present. His hands were ziptied together, and his pockets were searched. The manager was more grateful that his wallet was left alone, as that wasn't Kings concern. No, he wanted the keycard, which is just what he found. He took it out of the others pocket and stood upright, "Stay here, don't make a peep, and you'll live." King whispered to him, turning away and descending the stairs to leave the manager there until someone found him, hopefully after they were long gone.
Kings attention now focused on the cameras, the thing Houston was most likely waiting on to be taken out before he made any moves inside. It was hard to not get spotted when you were hauling a bright orange bag on your back, so having someone else get rid of that threat would make the job easy.
Upon reaching the door, he slid the keycard into its designated slit and the door beeped, giving him the go-ahead that it was now unlocked. The guard inside looked over to see it open up, with one of the infamous clowns standing there, a knife in hand. There was an attempt to get his gun out to open fire, but it failed. King rushed forward and pushed him into the wall, the armor didn't do much to help as before he could get himself recuperated for a retaliation, the knife was stabbed into his throat.
Blood began to seep from the wound, and when the knife was ripped out, it sprayed slightly. A few steps back were taken to keep King out of the radius while the guard choked in his last moments, the life leaving him in seconds. A part of it made it sad to watch, just doing his job, and this is what he got for it. But he knew the danger he was getting into when he took it, that was obvious by the armor and office he was locked in. Just as King went to speak through his earpiece, the pager on the corpse beeped. He must've hit it once slamming against the wall, shit.
"Hey, what's going on over there?" The voice on the other side spoke out, King ducked down next to it and grabbed on, lifting his mask up so his voice was clear. "Why are you calling me? You want some company over there, control? I can come over there if you want me to." He mused, glancing at the corpse he took the pager from. "Er.. yeah, okay, whatever." The man responded, going quiet on the other side.
Jeez, the guy behind that really didn't give much of a shit. Houston had told him that anyone could say anything and they seemed to brush it off, hell, Jimmy and Rust had threatened them all a few times and it didn't seem to matter. It seemed to be as long as there was a voice there to confirm someone was breathing, even if it wasn't the guard.
A soft sigh of relief left King and he stood back up, raising his free hand he pressed down on his earpiece. "Cams are down, can't say much about the other guards." He muttered, "I'll go and check where they a-"
"Hey!" A voice called out from behind, another guard, shit. He'd wandered out here and seen the blood, and unlike the one he'd just killed, he had his gun drawn and aimed. Unless King wanted shots in his spine, he had to cooperate just for now. He raised his hands up and looked back at the guard, watching him closely as he approached. He kept aiming with one hand while the other took his cuffs off of his belt, "Stay there." Great, now he was the one taking commands.
He was pulled down to his knees, the cuffs being locked around his wrists tight in less than a second. King could see the guards eyes widening as he saw what had happened to the other, a soft "Jesus Christ" leaving his lips. He turned to look at the cameras, which was when he saw the other heister outside. King had to take him out now, and with cuffs holding his hands together, he had a plan already set in motion.
In a swift motion, King got up onto his feet and threw his arms over the guards shoulders. Ripping back, the chain link on his cuffs went around his neck and began to choke him. Gagging and sputtering ensued, his arms flailed wildly around as he made a desperate, but vain attempt to escape his fate. Seconds felt like hours to him, but it was almost as soon as it started that he began to slump over. Choking someone out never took that long, and it was rare anyone could actually break free.
As the unconscious guard went to the ground, King went to his belt and took the keys off of it. He unlocked his cuffs and let them fall off his wrists to the floor before getting his knife, no one stayed down for long, so he had to make sure he didn't get up. He did that by simply cutting his throat, the blood sprayed and he practically flung himself back to avoid the spray that followed.
Two guards in one room, messy all-around but the job was going to get done either way. King once again pressed down on his earpiece and spoke, "Sorry, man.. fuckin' guard just cuffed me, got it handled." He explained, taking a pause before continuing. "Vaults by the back, usual spot."
"Are you alright?" Houston asked, beginning to wrap around the building to go through the same entrance King had gone in. "I'm fine." He assured, stepping out of the office and glancing out. "We'll have to tie down a few civs, maybe take out a few guards that come back... Let's hurry."
Thankfully, the rest of the job went a lot smoother. King stood by the cams and kept an eye out for anyone who had the chance to come close to the drill, which is what Houston stood by. Using the keys they'd gotten from an insider, they unlocked the gate inside the vault, got inside and bagged the cash.
Hauling it to the van was easy enough, they moved quickly to avoid catching the attention of nosy civilians and stuffed each duffel bag inside the van before going back for anything that was left inside. The deposit boxes were untouched, as they would simply take too long to bust open and weren't worth it in their eyes.
Jacket and Dragan came to the van once Houston had waved for them to come over, with King carrying the last bag of money to the van. He removed his mask prematurely, threw the bag inside and got in with the rest of them. It was a little cramped with their haul, but the lack of heavy armor and firepower they would otherwise carry gave them a little more free room.
Bain's praises came over their comms soon after they drove off, leaving the scene of the crime far behind them. Kings ability to think quickly had shined through and saved his, and possibly Houston's ass. An easy payday for sure, even if there were a few bodies left behind, they weren't noticed until much later on.
While they definitely weren't going to bring him on jobs where their only option was to sneak around, not yet at least, King had shown that he was able to handle himself during it all. It would be a progressive climb, but it was better than sitting at the bottom of the ladder, right?

This Isn't How It Was Supposed To Go!
Characters: (Payday) Hoxton, Jimmy, King, Sokol, Bain, Vlad, Captain Winters
Warnings: Major death
Notes: I'm only writing this because my friend was sobbing and shaking and begging me not to, and bc of Roblox. I can't even remember what she did
Something was wrong. That's what Bain had deduced quickly as the gang went ripping through Murkywaters building once more, they'd already robbed it silently, now Vlad had sent them back in. For what? He didn't know, Vlad kept his lips shut tight until they found just what he wanted. Goddamn nukes.
Bain's rage was unmatched then and there, just overheating the container they were in would've been enough to blow them all to hell nine times over, but Vlad seemed rather uncaring. It was too late to pull back now, so they persevered, throwing the warheads onto forklifts and driving off to another vehicle, which was then used to bring the warheads to a train. All of this was done while avoiding an endless hail of bullets from turrets, snipers, and swat teams.
This cycle repeated until they had gotten all but two of the nukes to the train, currently stuffed in the trunk of a car that Jimmy was speeding in. It was a quick argument between the heisters when he jumped into the driver's seat, Hoxton being the one to say that he felt safer shooting himself in the leg and running than letting the cokehead drive, but after nearly getting his head blown off by a sniper he figured that it was the fastest way to get out.
With Jimmy and Hoxton in the front, King and Sokol had gotten into the back. Shooting out of the windows for suppressing fire, most bullets whizzed by the cops they were aimed at, but it was enough to make them back away into cover. Of course it wasn't for very long, but any breather from getting shot at was nice.
Hoxton had one hand clutched tight onto his assault rifle, while the other one held onto the door. "Fucking hell Jimmy- did you ever learn how to drive?!" He shouted, turning to see Jimmy hunched over. Even with the mask over his face, the smile underneath was obvious. "YOU KNOW IT ISNT THAT BAD, MATE!"
A scoff was returned to Jimmy with that, Hoxton regretted not just dragging him out of the car and getting in himself. "You two okay back there?" He asked, turning his head to glance back at King and Sokol. "I'm fine! ...doll, are you alright?"
"Sokol is fine, do not worry!" The Russian assured, in the moment he was more worried about crashing and burning thanks to Jimmy's reckless driving. For the moment he had no choice but to trust him with his and the others lives, even if it was hesitantly.
Luckily enough for them, the train was just up around a corner, which was quickly drifted around by Jimmy. The backend of the Longfellow slammed into the train but didn't slow him down, he sped up ahead and then slammed on the brakes, forcing all the passengers to jerk forward and hit whatever was in front of them. "You goddamn twat!" Hoxton yelled, pulling himself back up and smacking the cokehead upside the back of his head.
It was taken lightly despite the real anger behind it, causing Jimmy to laugh out as he got out of the car and slammed the door shut, rushing to the trunk. The others followed suit, Sokol was the first one to grab onto a bagged warhead to haul it inside of the train, which doubled as their getaway. His movement would've been faster if it wasn't for how heavy the nuke was, that and the bullets coming at them from Captain Winters crew, standing dead ahead of where the car was.
"IT'S THE MOTHERFUCKING CAPTAIN!" Hoxton screamed out, using the front of the car as cover to avoid the bullets coming towards them. King used an open door to protect himself, ducking behind it while he grabbed onto a grenade from his belt. He set down his AK and stood up, pulling the pin to the grenade and throwing it at the group of shields. "GRENADE OUT!"
The explosion that followed was enough to rip through most of the group, Winters still stood, but next to more corpses than living men. When he realized that, he immediately started backing out of the area. "He's retreating!" King shouted, even though the gunfire had stopped momentarily which gave Hoxton the go-ahead to step out of cover and look over at the youngest heister, who turned around to see the others. "Get that last fucking n-"
One shot rang out, stopping Kings speech immediately. His head twitched and his entire form went limp, Hoxton froze up as King hit the ground with a thud. In that position, the Brit saw what had happened.
A bullet had gone right through the back of Kings head, splattering his blood on the inside of his mask. Looking at where the bullet had come from, Hoxton got to see Winters, standing there in awe of his own work. Of course he knew it wasn't safe, so he hurried out with the rest of his team.
"What just happened? Why is King- fuck!" Bain shouted out, getting a good look at the scene. Hearing the mention of King is what brought Sokol out from the train, his eyes immediately darted to stare at the body on the floor. "Cub?" He called out, jumping down and rushing forward past Hoxton.
The rest of the gang stayed silent, they'd dealt with heisters being brought into custody- but never dead. Sokol continued to talk to Kings body, crouching down and grabbing onto the back of his suit, shaking him. Whatever he was saying was lost on the others, as it had been in his native tongue, things such as "Вставай, давай!" and the likes.
Jimmy didn't really understand what they were silent before, assuming that King would just be getting back up. Death was nothing more than a second thought to him, being able to jump from clone to clone in seconds. But King didn't have that same ability, no, that was it. He had one body, and it got dropped. While they all stood around, Jimmy threw the last nuke inside of the train, slowly, but it was done nonetheless.
"Come on! Let's get the fuck outta here, lads!" He shouted to them, jumping onto the train and staring out at them. "What the fuck are you all standing around for?!" Jimmy continued, the gravity of the situation still being unable to truly crash down on him. The stare Hoxton shot towards Jimmy was like daggers, making him even further confused. "The kids.."
Hoxtons attempt at speaking was a failed one, going quiet as he looked back to the corpse that Sokol still sat by. "Yeah, he fuckin' died, he'll get better- NOW GET THE FUCK ON!" He yelled, gesturing for the two to follow him. Unfortunately, all that did was drive the two into an even deeper pit of rage.
Moving quickly, Hoxton dropped his gun and jumped onto the train with Jimmy, but not to escape with him. That was made clear when his arm cocked back and swung forward, his fist cracking the other in the jaw. The sudden force of Hoxtons punch knocked Jimmy down to his ass, "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"
"What? What did I say?!" Jimmy asked, backing up and putting his hands up. "THE KID IS FUCKIN' DEAD- AND YOU JUST DONT GIVE A SHIT?! I SHOULD KILL YOU!" He snapped, the veins in his neck bulging out with his rage. The only reason he didn't continue to attack Jimmy was because of Sokol behind them, in one hand was the corpse of King, in the other- the last nuke. The thing he'd died for.
Everyone went silent as Kings body was set down on the ground, Sokols rage and grief radiated off of him in waves while he set down the warhead. "Is that all of them?" Bain finally mumbled out, the train beginning to move on the tracks, slowly at first- but picking up speed quickly. "What the hell happened?" He asked, looking through the container. "It... It was the Captain," Hoxton began, "the motherfucker got a stray shot and... He hit the kid."
"Fuck." Bain sighed.
"Yeah..."
In the quiet was where Jimmy finally began to realize just why this was such a tense situation, he could come back, he had clones, King didn't. King was a normal human, not some mad scientist like he was, he didn't have backup bodies to jump into. That was his only life, and it had been taken in an instant.
That's why it had such an effect on everyone, it's why Sokol and Hoxton were so angry, he was dead. Shit.
..there had to be some way to get him back. He just needed a bit of time.

Dropped On Me Like A Fucking Piano!
Characters: (Payday) Dean King, Bain, Tony Montana, Sydney King (not related lmfao), Jimmy
Warnings: Murder, needles
It was supposed to be a simple heist, and it was!
A simple run through a nightclub, something about Vlad wanting revenge. Hell if King knew what it was about, even if Bain had been telling them about it even on the way to the joint. Dean didn't pay attention, rather focusing on making sure that he had enough ammo for the job.
Now that could've been it, they found the safe, drilled it open and then left with the goods inside, but King had wanted to go and search the rest of the building while they had time in between the cops attacks. He sped through the place, stepping over corpses the entire time, it was a mess of their own design.
Looting and shooting through the place was easy, they'd fought their way through in pairs. It made the endeavour finding the safe they needed to bust open just a little bit faster, Jimmy and Sydney had actually been the ones to find it. It was loudly announced through their comms, enthusiasm filling his voice.
One after the other, the few cops that came in were quickly disposed of with a spray of bullets from Kings AK. Each corner was rounded carefully, even if most of them had nothing but whimpering civilians behind them, those of which were quickly hushed.
After getting through the kitchen and walking into the small gambling den, the heister caught sight of easy cash. Wads of bills were thrown around the table carelessly, it was enough of a lure to make him stop and lower his rifle into one hand so he could begin pocketing the loose money. Over the blaring music and the sound of his heart pounding in his chest, he wasn't able to hear the heavy footsteps that were quickly coming through the hall to the other entrance.
King only noticed the hulking figure in the doorway by the time it was too late, his eyes slowly went up to catch sight of the visor, a skull painted over the entire face.
Fucking dozer.
In a blind panic, he desperately tried to pull his gun up to start shooting. By the time he'd even brought the barrel up to his thigh however, the special had already racked his shotgun and taken aim at his chest. In a split second- he fired, the blast ringing out and reaching the others immediately as pellets flew.
Those very pellets went straight into the criminals vest, the force of them knocking him backwards and back into the kitchen, where he slammed against an oven with a loud grunt. Not even a second after, he could hear crackling through his earpiece, accompanied by a panicked Bain shouting out.
"King needs help, pronto!"
It felt as if flames were ripping through Kings chest while he sat there, the act of breathing alone was impossible. It was as if his lungs had tightened, all attempts at breathing only induced more agonizing pain to sear through his being. In other words, he got the wind knocked out of him. He was lucky that it hadn't completely ripped through him and turned his insides into swiss cheese, although that did seem preferable due to the obvious.
"Ones down," The dozer spoke through his own earpiece, "I don't know where the others are th-" Sudden shrieking made him go quiet and turn to look at the source, the source being Kings favorite coked up maniac, and his savior. Jimmy cackled out as he took aim at the visor that guarded the juggernauts soft head with his machine guns, just before letting a hail of bullets fly out of the gun and directly into that same visor.
There was shouting from both parties, Jimmy was incoherently throwing curses at the enemy while the dozer screamed out curses.. at the enemy, more so in fear than anything, which was a shock to hear, but it wasn't long before only one of them continued to be able to shout. As the dozers visor cracked and shattered, the lead pierced his skull and put him down.
His body fell onto the floor with a loud thud and clang, giving King a sense of relief as he turned to meet Jimmy's masked gaze. "Fuckin' hell, you look like shit, mate!" He panted out, "You're not gonna die on me are you?"
Silence followed, the only noise being the sounds of King desperately trying to bring air into his lungs and failing, which was noticed by Jimmy quickly. "Thats... HEY! ARE YOU GONNA FUCKING DIE?!" The cokehead screamed, as if King couldn't hear him at a normal volume.
"H...urt.." King finally managed to wheeze out, it took Jimmy a few seconds to understand him before nodding. "YEAH, I KINDA GOT THAT-"
"D'fucks goin' on?!" Scarface shouted, entering the kitchen, eyes widening as he caught sight of the grizzly scene. Sydney followed in after him, breathing in sharply as she too looked around. There was a second of quiet as Sydney and Tony put together the pieces as to what happened, the dead dozer, the loose cash in Kings pockets. Christ. "Fuck me- King, are jou with us?"
Since Kings head could turn to Tony, that gave him the sign he needed that he was still alive. "Fuck, okay, I got something for jou." He mumbled, reaching into his suits breast pocket and taking out his injector, filled with adrenaline. Everyone had seen him use it a dozen times, but there was only one other person he'd used it on- and that had been Jacket. That had been a desperate situation, much like this one.
Tony set down his rifle to use both gloved hands, one pulled down Kings collar further so he could inject him, and the other hand did. The needle sunk into his pec, and the adrenaline was shot straight into him, causing his eyes to open wide and air to flow into his lungs once more. He jolted forward which forced Tony's hands back, the injector still stabbed into him.
His breathing was uneven and heavy, almost panicked. Tony grabbed onto his shoulder, holding him in place. "Give it a bit, 'dat rush is like a fuckin' truck, mane." He explained, sitting there with King as he tried to pull himself together. Pain seemed to be non-existent, his hands shook violently, Jesus, he'd felt adrenaline before but nothing this severe and sudden.
Moments ticked by, each valuable second before the next assault made Sydney and Jimmy check the entrances just in case there were any other specials or cops coming towards them. In any case, there were none, which gave King all the time needed to get himself under control. He looked down at the injector, still in his flesh. His right hand reached up and pulled it out, before passing it back to the kingpin. "Jou good?"
King nodded, starting to get up while grabbing his AK off of the floor. "I'm good.." He confirmed, adjusting his mask with one hand. His wounds would still have to be looked at and tended to after the heist, but for now he needed to fight.
Convenient timing, as Bain once again chimed in through their comms.
"You got some bad cops coming in, get ready!"
"TOOK THOSE PIGGYS LONG ENOUGH!" Jimmy laughed, reloading his akimbo smgs before running out of the kitchen. "LETS FUCKING GO LADS!" He called out in the distance, his footsteps growing quieter as the music overtook it. King pulled the magazine out of his AK to check the amount of ammo he had left, enough was the answer. Sydney left the room, muttering something about "don't get fucked up again" as she did.
Tony turned to look at the dead dozer and back at King, only giving him a nod before walking out himself. Now alone, King slid the magazine back in and primed the rifle. It was time to get even with the bastards, he'd take them all down if he could. He could already hear the shouting from the incoming swat, to one another and at his fellow heisters before the firefight, as much as he wanted to sit down and let himself rest for a bit, he knew he couldn't.
Knowing that, he took hold of his AK in both hands and rushed out to join the others in their shootout with the police. They weren't able to kill him, not yet. Maybe in the future they could, but not now.
Not when they were fucking with the Payday gang.
