First Successful Kidney Transplant In Tripura State Hospital.

In a historic milestone for Tripura, doctors at a state-run hospital have performed the region's first successful kidney transplant on 8th July, 2024. Led by Dr. Gulliver Potsangbam from Shija Hospitals, Manipur (that signed a MoU with the state govt. recently) , the surgical team conducted the operation, marking a significant advancement in local healthcare capabilities. The procedure, which lasted six and a half hours, was performed free of cost, underscoring the commitment to accessible healthcare for all residents.

The 20-year-old patient and his parents met with Hon'ble CM Prof.(Dr.)Manik Saha during his 'Mukhyamantri Samipeshu' program, following which the hospital was instructed to proceed with the necessary steps.

In his statement on X, Hon'ble CM praised the doctors' accomplishment, stating: "Today's achievement will be remembered as a milestone in our state's medical services. It's something that seemed impossible just a few days ago."
