Meet my favorite little manloser, The Chemist!

The Chemist, real name Cooper J. Clément (u can call him CJ), is a 30 y/o dude who worked on the creation and testing of vaccines until a series of traumatic accidents hospitalized him and caused him to quit. The trauma he was left with caused his mental health issues to develop to the point that without special accommodations he would have never secured another job. Because of that, when RED offered to adapt to his limitations he immediately accepted.

Originally he planned to work in the background but Miss Pauling put him on the team when the man who was originally meant to be the Chemist had to be eliminated. He was a good fit physically, so he suddenly went from being part of a team of background scientists to The Chemist™

Since quitting his previous job, TF industries diagnosed him with multiple phobias and mental disorders. The big three phobias he has are hypochondria, germophobia, and haphephobia, which he's had mild cases of since he was young, but they became almost debilitating after the shit he went through at his previous job. He also picked up social anxiety along the way, he just like me fr fr.

I'm currently coming up with weapon ideas for him, so unfortunately I don't have much yet :( I imagine he's a big fan of corrosive substances and NOT a fan of traditional firearms. He's a support role so he's not supposed to be super offensive.

I'm really shitty at art but I tried my best because he DESERVES to be SEEN

I'm planning to try and do a full-body ref soon, but for now this is all I can do

Summary: 

The Force Folk were a multitude and a rarity, stretching across every continent and all cultures. Their existences craved out in myths and legends, of tricks on the populous or battles against royal hunters, they were there.

But they were not truly forgotten.

As the ages went on the Force Folk learned to live among the humans of the world, hidden in plain sight, creating new tales that were known only to them.

One such tale is about a lost coat.

A lost coat and how it caused fated meetings, friendship, misunderstandings, and daring rescues. But most importantly, love.

“I’ve been terribly rude,” And holding out a hand to shake, introduces himself, “I’m Obi-Wan.”

I know. Cody thinks as he smiles back, taking the offered hand to shake.

But the moment their hands touch, despite the fact both of their hands are cold from the weather, it’s like his hand has been held up to a roaring fire. The touch tenderly soothing in a way he never wants to let go.

“Cody.”

Dragging his eyes from their joined hands he sees Obi-Wan staring at their hands as well, an indescribable expression in place and a faint, but strained smile, as they both finally let go.

“Cody. That’s nice. And it’s nice to finally put a name with the face.” He glances up with a nicer expression, but so far away.

“Same. And I see you still have your coat. Or a coat at least.” Cody adds, not meaning to mention the coat, but it comes easily.

Obi-Wan jolts, looking at him with wide-eyed worry before he hides it behind an embarrassed smile, at least cementing Cody’s first thought that the coat was important to him, though the one he has draped over his lap wasn’t the nice trench coat from that fateful night.

“Yes, I found keeping the coat on my person in some way helps greatly with keeping up with it,” Obi-Wan chuckles, sounding forced, but natural enough to ignore, “So what were you doing in that section to catch me being somewhat forgetful?”

“It had the catalogues I needed for my final paper in Polymers in Art and Conservation,” Seeing that Obi-Wan looks interested Cody explains, “I’m here for a double major; art conservation and library sciences.”

“So an artist and a chemist I take it,” Obi-Wan half-asks with another soft smile, and Cody nods, surprised that he knew, “But more importantly a bibliophile.” His lips now curling up into a charming lopsided smile.

Cutting off a guffaw, Cody grins secretly, “You have no idea.”

the kids grew up bouncing from city to city - and each have had four names and four background stories. they each deal with it differently. muse cl is completely with the program and still believes that their sacrifice will lead to an arrest and eventual safety, muse cm is tired of running and is contemplating to leave the program, even if that means that they’ll have to move and possibly be harmed. and then there is the baby of the family, muse cn who has been terrified since they went into the program and can’t seem to shake the fear - ever.

My images are actually screenshots from the movie Parasite. During the scene where the semi-basement floods, the family scrambles to salvage their items in the wreckage. The first item that the father grabs is a medal. The medal is perhaps not as utilitarian as other objects, but it is perceived by the father to be a “treasure” or a reflection of “riches.” Holding on to the medal is symbolic of holding onto the wealth, even if it perhaps not the most practical item to save first. This speaks to how value is a social construct.

1) Kinda updated design?? Not much has changed he's just become more grumpy and less Woobified. He's still got all his issues but he's less jittery and more tired.

2) I realized I wanted him to be more expressive so along with changing his goggles a bit I gave him a sort of "mouth" with a sticky note. I thought it was a cute idea that Pyro stuck them on since I can't really imagine CJ doing it himself, at least not at first. Later in his employment, I could definitely see him tapping into his artistic side.

3) Two things with this one. Firstly, he was raised by his granny, so he uses old-fashioned curses a lot. He still can and will say fuck, he just chooses not to. Secondly, He has a weird thing for Spy. Spy is either painfully aware of this or has absolutely no idea. I haven't decided which one is funnier(I'm gonna go into this more in my next post).

BENNINGTON TOWNSHIP — Wilk Olykos Vilkas was advised of his rights. Edgar Thomas Hill was read the criminal complaint.

But it’s Mark D. Latunski who faces murder charges for allegedly killing and cannibalizing a 25-year-old Grindr date on Christmas Eve.

Latunski, 50, has identified himself by several names since Dec. 28, 2019, when Kevin Bacon of Swartz Creek was found dead, naked and hanging by his ankles in Latunski’s Bennington Township basement.***

A New York man born in 1973 fled Latunski’s home, jumped a fence and called police after becoming frightened during a consensual sexual encounter on Oct. 10, Kaiser said.

Then a 29-year-old Lansing man wearing only a kilt got “spooked” during a consensual sexual encounter in which he was chained up in Latunski’s basement on Nov. 25, Kaiser said. He fled to a neighbor’s home with Latunski in pursuit of the $300 kilt.

Neither man wanted to file a police report, Kaiser said. The New York man spent multiple more days with Latunski.

Understanding the Wrinkle

The single worst threat to beauty and self-image perceived by Caucasian women in the Western world is the wrinkle, according to several surveys conducted in recent years. In contrast, Asian women are more worried by discoloration and brown spots, which will be detailed in an upcoming column.

As a matter of fact, the wrinkle not only alters the smoothness of the surface, it also betrays the age of the person; this is unacceptable in a world where appearing young is mandatory.

The personal care industry has developed a plethora of products aimed at fighting wrinkles, and yet the threat remains. Often, when a problem takes long to be solved, it is because the cause of the problem is only partially understood. So, let us ask again: what is a wrinkle?

It is quite remarkable that there are no wrinkles on “horizontal” parts of our body and that the wrinkles only are formed on the “vertical” parts of the body. Indeed, there are no wrinkles on the scalp and there are no wrinkles on the shoulders; wrinkles accumulate on the forehead, around the eyes, on the cheeks and around the lips.

In a moment of creative enthusiasm, somebody once suggested that the wrinkle is a wound. That assessment could not be further from reality. In a wound, skin cells multiply quickly and synthetize collagens, elastic fibers and ground substance to fill the gap. In a wrinkle, all of these activities are absent and there is no bleeding. For sure, it can be said that a wrinkle is a wound in someone’s beauty but, truth be told, wrinkles and wounds do not have anything in common.

Whereas a wrinkle is a groove in a healthy, intact skin, a wound is a bleeding opening. In a wound, collagen is produced at an accelerated rate and in order to quickly fill the gap, skin cells produce fibers and ground substance and scar tissue is formed, which is disorganized and not elastic. So, if to reduce wrinkles one were to use wound healing factors or other accelerators of the rate of synthesis of collagens, one might indeed generate a lot of scar-like tissue and make things worse.

The fact is, the damage in the skin is an ancillary cause in the onset of the wrinkle: the wrinkle is a neuro-muscular problem!

Surgeons, doctors and dermatologists all know that patients under general anesthesia do not have wrinkles and that hemiplegic patients do not have wrinkles on the paralyzed portion of their faces. And we all know that an injection of the neuro-muscular toxin Botox induces the removal of wrinkles for several weeks. A wrinkle is a neuro-muscular problem, which manifests itself as the appearance of grooves on the face. These grooves correspond to the sites where the skin is attached to the muscles via the nervous tissue.

With time and age, the skin’s network of elastic fibers gets disorganized. The skin gets thinner because of the loss of the water-retaining capability of the dermis. Aged skin is less resilient, less elastic, less firm and more deformable. Subjected to the stretch effect of the gravitational force, the surface of aged skin becomes larger. Aged skin does therefore “hang down” from the sites where it is attached to the muscles and grooves will appear on its surface. This is how we understand wrinkles are formed.1,2

What scientific frame should be adopted to design interventions to fight wrinkles? It is apparent that considering the wrinkle as the consequence of a purely dermal damage is an incomplete approach to the problem. Drawing a section of the dermis as if it were resting on a horizontal plane and representing the wrinkle as a concavity in the line separating the inside of the skin from the outside is not only wrong but also misleading. Such a schematic drawing could allow one to infer the existence of a “bottom” of the wrinkle and indeed some authors propose to eliminate wrinkles by filling the wrinkle from the bottom...quite difficult task to perform because a wrinkle does not have a bottom!

It has been reported in the past that topically treating postmenopausal skin with estrogen provoked the thickening of the dermis and the appearance of wrinkles was reduced.3 This is to be expected because estrogen promotes water retention. This result allowed one to understand that increasing the thickness of the dermis can be beneficial to the battle against wrinkles, and some dermatologists do actually inject “fillers” into the dermis. By doing so they are able to reduce the wrinkle’s visibility. It has been later understood that the presence of these “fillers” in the dermis is perceived by resident dermal fibroblasts as a “gap” in the tissue, and as a consequence, they produce new collagens, the dermis becomes more resilient and the skin “hangs down” from the sites where the cutaneous tissue is attached to the muscular system, in a less conspicuous manner.

When one wants to avoid invasive treatments and steer clear from using prescription drugs, one can approach the wrinkle problem by topical application of formulas that offer an immediate, albeit transient, solution—also called the “Cinderella Effect” because of its short duration. Such an effect can be obtained, for instance, by boosting the forces pulling epidermal keratinocytes toward one another, or by applying film formers with a tightening effect together with the appropriate additives to prolong this effect. Cosmetic chemists have a panoply of ingredients and a wealth of formulating experience that can be called upon to find the best solutions to the wrinkle problem.
