Tbf to Dorothea's hypocrisy on CF, couldn't that be blamed more on the fact that the vast majority of the optional recruits in that route are written heavily out-of-character so they can side with Edelgard, including Dorothea herself?
It doesn't fix 3H not realizing that she's much more priviliged than an average commoner, but i feel like Dorothea being hypocritical on CF is is more an example of that route's generally clownish character writing than something specifically wrong with her imo.
character hate under the cut it goes
If it weren't for Ferdinand I'd say sure, but that specific aspect of her hypocrisy stays with her no matter the route. She's never angry at Edelgard. Ever. She's only ever regretful that they have to fight each other, and never shows off that she feels betrayed by Edelgard's actions. She can stay pissed at Ferdinand for what he did as a fuckin' NINE YEAR OLD CHILD put into AN INSANELY FLUSTERING SITUATION for a child to be randomly put into out of nowhere - and stay mad at him FOR OVER A DECADE - because it hurt her feelings, but she had a chill year with Edelgard (that gets revealed to her to be built on a foundation of lies and blood) so that means she's chill with Edelgard's
ATTEMPTED
MURDER
and will NEVER bring that event up, and will NEVER get pissed at her for doing it. Even though HER LIFE WAS NEARLY ENDED because of it.
And also, she still does explicitly hate nobility on all routes - she will lambast them for crawling back to the player's army once Edelgard is defeated out of self-interest. She'll praise and cry for Bergliez for giving up his life to spare his men, and that and hating nobles would all be just fine... except she does all this without ever acknowledging who exactly it was that caused Bergliez's sacrifice to be a necessity in the first place. You know, the one who threw everyone into war? For her own benefit? That thing Dorothea literally just got finished showing off she didn't like nobles doing? But it's fine if her bestie does it!
So, not really - while CF certainly does exacerbate these issues in Dorothea, they are always there to some degree regardless of where she's at

The quintessential problem with Claude and the deer is that they should not have been involved in the war at all, or at least not Claude. What does he have to gain participating on it? Nothing, and he makes it even more explicit in azure moon when he dissolves the alliance. He could've pretty easely given the power to Lorenz or Hilda and nope out of there (what he does in silver snow), as it is clear througouht white clouds that he doesn't have as much of an attachtment to Fodlan as he does Almyra. And it isn't like the devs couldn't take the deer studients out during post-TS, when Marianne unless recruited is pressumed dead, and Lorenz unless recruited joins the imperial forces and dies helping the empire.
Outside of the problems with racism and the bigoted tropes related to "savage cultures" the Fodlan games perpetuate, the devs did not know how to use one of their house leaders for the main plot of "church vs empire", and idk if that's because they bit more than they could chew, or if it was intentional taking into account who gets the short end of the stick in both games happens to be mixed and from one of those "savage cultures".
TBH...
It's on the devs for having wanted to add a third lord to their game, but failing to, well, link him to any of those plots.
Supreme Leader's war of unification?
Well, Nopes gave him a part this plot - and yet there's no third choice in this plot : you bend the knee or you die. Nopes' wise, Clout decided (in his route) to bend the knee with his "alliance" that is totally supposed to make Supreme Leader reconsider her desire to roll over Leicester and make it part of Adrestia again!
(Granted, Nopes don't tell us how his plea to stop the war after killing the evil lizard lady will play out and leaves an open ending...)
In Houses, well, he doesn't want Leicester to be flattened, and goes on the offensive (counter offensive?) when Billy pops up with basically what is the plot events of Silver Snow (down to using the same strategy with disguises) with the Gronder Map.
And that addition radically changes... well, everything regarding Claude's relevance : he cannot form an alliance with the Blue Lord or the Kingdom to get rid of the Empire because "plot convenient myopia" and apparently Dimitri BaD enough that he attacks Alliance troops for no reason.
Forget SS, GW (and AM, in a way) is just using plot contrived excuse to... not have an united from to face the Empire. Why? IDK. Each Lord must be the hero of his story, or the unification boner means only one of them can "win" an unified Fodlan i'd guess.
Nabateans and the plot ?
No one gives a fig about that "plot", so it's basically pursuing a side-quest for no payoff.
Now, as @fantasyinvader wrote, Claude's story and journey as one who is ignorant and gets to learn and clear his misconceptions + the background of the land we're living in could have been interesting, doubly so given how Billy is voiceless and cannot play the "protag discovers the world at the same time as the player does" role.
But it has... no payoff.
Much like Rhea's infodump about the World, Relics and Nabateans... Claude reacts to the mention that Billy has a rock for heart, and not about his crest, his shiny bow or the fact that Rhea also had a vested interest in, uh, getting rid of prejudice against people who are perceived as "different" because her family was genocided for that.
Hell, the entire "prejudice" angle from Supreme Leader's war is swept under the rug, so we can have the Deers say nonsense like wanting to rekt Thales for Supreme Leader's sake, while only Flayn and Seteth can hear her "nabateans shouldn't have power over the people"...
There's no parallel drawn in the game about Claude and Rhea's situation - since she's at the center of this subplot - about being perceived as "outsiders" and not being able to do various things from existing to "rule over the people" because of what they are, or even faking their identities and building metaphorical walls between them and the people they're living with because they are afraid of rejection.
Nah, we can't have that, Rhea must be irrelevant to the possible, while also being the biggest scapegoat/dragon of this saga at the same time as a nebulous red herring to sell pots of tea.
Ihthe "fight against prejudice and make people accept each other" angle was that relevant to his route, Claude would have most likely talked or interacted with Dimitri and learnt of his plan to cleanse Duscur's name in his Father's assassination, raised a brow at Petra being a hostage and done something else than give a surprised pikachu face at Rhea's infodumps.
He could have reacted at her reveal that if you might want to live in peace with some people, if those people don't want that and label you as nothing more than fodder or things to be looted, it's not going to work.
And of course, gave a reaction at your second in command (unofficially?)'s reveal that, uh, her house keeps identured Almyran children as war prisoners?
Some people already made some AUs or "what ifs" routes for a proper Claude route and not the nonsense that we got in FE16 where it's basically "I react to the same plot events that happen in the other routes but top it all with a zombie".
The Deers could have been "better introduced" in a plot about getting rid of prejudice, or learning the causes of this prejudice : Marianne was/is hunted because of her blood ties to Maurice - not because what she did, but because what Momo did back then! - Lysithea was treated as a guinea pig and her house rolled over by Adrestia who has a less than rosy views about the "offshoots" that are called Leicester and Faerghus, Lorenz could explain that prejudice, just like piety, are tools used by people whenever they're relevant, like, some people being pissed at foreigners and some who aren't because they make money through international trading like Margrave Edmund does, Hilda justifying her House's animosity towards Almyrans because they lost many people in those pointless skirmishes (maybe a closed ones? Her mom or Uncle or whatever?) which would make Claude realise that "ending prejudice" is a much more difficult quest than, idk, just killing one or two randoms.
The commoner trio might share Claude's views about prejudice and welcoming foreigners, but have more "mundane" worries like being able to have a roof and food to eat, which might be the case of some people in Leicester, or tell us more about Leicester and how it works (give us more insight about the different countries if Fodlan ffs).
Maybe we could have add a Claude who learns and discovers Fodlan, and along the way, starts to love the land as much, if not more, than Almyra and really wanting to protect this land from whatever Supreme Leader's cooking, or becoming an Almyra v.2.
I don't think making Claude the third wheel of the plot was maliciously intentional because of the, uh, implications with RL cultures and Almyra, but more like they didn't know where to put him.
I noticed you wrote the conflict as one that is "the church vs the empire", but I do not really agree - if that was the case, the war would have stopped in VW/AM/SS the second Rhea was caught.
The main conflict is Supreme Leader's war of conquest - with the twist that the devs were really banking on their brilliant idea of making the red emperor the titular waifu of the game that each person/lord/whatever Rhea is must find a way to excuse and/or justify her actions.
With this in mind, AM is basically Dimitri's fall (and rise!) because of his ties to Supreme Leader.
In VW? The game cannot explore too much outside of the Supreme Leader scope so we're left with.. well, what VW was.
Claude cannot go on a journey to discover Fodlan and get rid of his misconceptions... because part of those same misconceptions are used by Supreme Leader to start her war, or the sheer concept of a conquest, aka a nation being rolled over by another is anathema to his, supposed, ideal of wanting people to accept each other despite their differences.
I ranted about it since day 5, but the Nabatean subplot (and Fodlan in general) is accessory to Supreme Leader war, there is no point aka no payoff for learning all of that, because you cannot challenge the one who wants to unify the continent.
As such, Claude cannot deviate too far from this plot - while receiving infodumps about "the lore" - and we end up with third wheel of a bike and characters who, at first and second glance, appear to be irrelevant.
Fodlan ends up unified despite starting as three separate countries, we feel bad for Supreme Leader and mourn her unknown ideals, Rhea is gone and the Agarthans aren't a problem anymore.
the second the devs said leicester was a republic, claude was doomed. Merchant republics are always irrelevent or straight up useless in the FE series!

I'm... kind of confused about this? Like Ignatz is basically saying the only way for people to move forward is by continuing to fight and destroy? That's a pretty awful message in general, but coming from Ignatz it just feels weird. It sounds like he's just accepted war and that it's just... something that happens so we should shrug it off and move on?
I know this game tends to have very strong pro-war/pro-invasion messages which is already really gross to me, but it went from being annoying and icky to just making me feel disgusted. Also, Ignatz of all people shouldn't just shrug his shoulders and be like well that's just the way of things, I guess! There's an active war going on so it makes sense that towns could be rebuilt and destroyed again. It doesn't mean just give up on it.
Also really doesn't feel like an Ignatz thing to say.
#DCB Three Hopes Run#I'll be honest I have very low opinions of people when I see them say shit like#Edelgard is in the right and it she was justified to invade territories#if there was provocation/she was attacked by another territory first I'd get it#but I can't sympathize with the concept in general of attacking another nation that has nothing to do with you#it feels absolutely disgusting and seeing people actually DEFEND that is extremely concerning about their real life values#especially when she's very open about how the purpose of it is conquest and not actually the Church#and no nobody can use the Faerghus sheltering refugees as an excuse bc she attacks them in both games#and they didn't shelter the Church at all outside CF. in Hopes it's just a reason the writers needed to be able to#make it so the game had a similar story to Houses and to give a reason so the war still happened#Faerghus was quite literally minding its own business and growing at an astoundingly fast pace#and suddenly they have to decide whose side to take in a war? they didn't want to go to war but they were forced#and Ignatz here basically shrugging his shoulders figuring it's just a way of life to be at war is... not a good message#people who initiate war do it for their own political and territorial gain and that's true of this story too#it's not a question of whether or not it was Edelgard's goal bc she just outright SAYS it is#like... she's not hiding it? she's not trying to dodge the fact? and like again you can like her character as a fictional character#but it would be like if I said I love Ashnard and bc of that I agreed with his goals ideals and values and that#he was justified in attacking Crimea and torturing laguz. he's a really cool character and I love what he brings to the story#but there's a fine line between finding a fictional character interesting/fascinating#and outright defending their actions and basically saying conquest is okay as long as you tell people it's for another reason#i.e. Edelgard gave the propaganda about ''for the people'' but that wasn't her goal. if it WAS#she'd be contacting Dimitri in those two years like hey I see you guys are making strides in your politics mind giving us some advice#if her goal was for the people she would've spent those two years for the people and fixing shit not preparing for war#it just... really leaves a sick feeling for me that people legitimately believe her violence is justified and that here Ignatz is basically#saying that war is just a thing we all should just accept. like... how is war the only way for humans to move forward???#the one good thing Twitter does is that it tries to at least give sympathies to attacked nations#if this game was real you'd be seeing ''Faerghus attacked'' ''Faerghus invaded'' ''pray for Faerghus'' all over Twitter lmao#like if this was never a fictional story and if it was just real life there would have been only support on social media

A couple things confuse me about the "Edelgard was never the Flame Emperor in Hopes so that's why people are acting differently with her" thing people try to say to explain GW and SB.
1) 3H almost never makes it a narrative focus that Edelgard was the Flame Emperor, just that the Flame Emperor as a separate entity was bad. Barring Dimitri, barely anyone says "hey wow, Edelgard sure is a giant fucking asshole since we know she's the Flame Emperor" - they're more like "wow, can't believe she smeckledorfed us like that, not based and kinda cringe." So many people go "I don't wanna fight her tho, I regret having to fight her :/" as though the fact that she clearly never gave a shit about any of them, proven by her lying about being the Flame Emperor for damn near a year, doesn't mean anything to them. She's still their beloved classmate, no matter what she does to a lot of them, so I don't see why it's only now that they'd suddenly give THIS much of a shit about something they never put focus on before. And to the extent that they'd 180 on their characters just to be chill with her.
2) What actual, substantial difference is there between "I am willing to torture my citizens by turning them into Demonic Beasts," and "I will torture my citizens by slowly starving them through my war that is draining away the country's food supplies"? She is still needlessly and cruelly making her people go through suffering, just because it isn't as loud as Aegir mindlessly pillaging shit doesn't mean she isn't still responsible for mass suffering and death of her own citizens. And this isn't even getting into the rest of Fodlan either, who she is similarly ruining/ending the lives of in similarly cruel, torturous ways. But it's not specifically Demonic Beasts or specifically with TWS, so suddenly she's fine? It's morally acceptable for certain characters to join her for no reason other than her (lying) words? Hell, being a pragmatic, amoral asshole for a second - at least a weapon's being made with the Demonic Beasts method of slow and cruel death, the starving citizens do no good for anyone!
I dunno, just seems like a pretty thin straw to reach for to explain why certain characters (WINK WINK) act so wildly OOC :/
Preface after writing: I'm sorry, this is stupid long and two months late. I hope it being stupid long makes up for the wait. :D... :'D...
Yeah, the Flame Emperor portion of her character has nothing to do with Hopes. Between both games, Dimitri treats her completely differently because she didn't do the same things and he has a very direct attachment to her and TWS both, but other characters don't just like her more because she wasn't the Flame Emperor.
For example, Dimitri never spirals into the mess he became in Houses because Edelgard never hid her identity, and the Flame Emperor was very openly allied with TWS. Edelgard in Hopes broke off her ties with them as soon as the game really begins, i.e. post the prologue (in all routes, but you only see it actually be discussed in her route).
I do agree it's a flaw in the writing that they kind of switch on the whole "the Flame Emperor is a bad person" to deciding they don't agree with that anymore once they know who it is. What she did doesn't change just because she was "someone else" at the time, the same way Dimitri's actions don't change just because he was "someone else" for those five years. Difference being, there are actually allied characters who hold Dimitri accountable for it, and Dimitri holds himself accountable too. Just another instance of the writing making women wound like saints because they gotta sell their merch. I'm saying that as a woman, mind you, and it's frutsrating that gender dictactes how a story gets written. Gender also doesn't define someone's personality and who they are, so it shouldn't make a story geared around uwu waifu not bad, we don't wanna fight her.
The thing is, this is one of the problems people have with the narrative of Houses is not committing. It's true that Edelgard didn't care about a lot of people because she explicitly didn't let herself care, because she went into the year fully expecting and being aware of her inevitable "betrayal" (which I quote because she didn't really intend to be friends with them to begin with, so in her view it's probably not really a betrayal. It would be to them, but not so much to her).
It's also true that she decides to "care" about people who side with her simply for siding with her. Unfortunately the writing can't commit to kepeing her consistent as a character because they don't want her to be the villain because it's harder to market villains. That is, in part, why TWS exists, because they're meant to be the 'true villains".
Basically, TWS exists to make Edelgard look better as a person. Since they made her look pretty and cute, they didn't want to commit to making her a more villainous person, despite openly saying in an interview that they made her the villain. If she were a man, they would have made her more of a villain.
Regarding Houses and her evils:
The characters are sad about classmates being their enemies, but they set aside all the bad things as soon as they know the ringleader is a woman. Remember how they all considered her a horrible villain who had to be taken down when they knew her as the Flame Emperor? They thought the Flame Emperor was a man. As soon as it turns out that, that very same person was a woman they uwu went to school with, they don't think he's such a horrible villain who needs to be taken down anymore.
The point of the first half of Houses is that you're involved in all these happy academy days (as far as their relationships go, less so about the missions and stuff). They all trust each other and see each other as people they will one day have to work alongside. Suddenly they find out a pair among the students were plotting against them and weren't really ever on their side. The people they met in school were, in some ways, "fake". They weren't their true selves because they were in enemy territory the whole time (even if they were safe there, but in their minds these were enemies).
Like, personally, would I feel bad when I found out these people were lying to me the whole time and planned to kill me one day if I didn't agree with them? lol no. The characters went from thinking her actions were horrific to "well let's hear her out because she's actually our friend, even though for being our 'friend' we actually know nothing about her and our 'friend' lied to us the whole time".
Regarding Hopes and her supposed lack of evils:
In Hopes, even though none of that is there, it's still true she lied to them and was their enemy. It's still true she started a war and did all the same things from there, and in fact, some of it she actually had to do herself because she broke off with TWS. This includes trying to invade the Kingdom, which Cornelia was the one to do and succeed in doing in Houses. However, Edelgard herself, and the might of the Empire, is canonically not enough to subdue the Kingdom in Hopes. This does mean, however, that she had to do the deeds herself and cou;pdn't hide behind anyone else.
Breaking it down for why she seems less evil in Hopes though, we have SB. Technically both the Empire and Alliance took on the Kingdom, meaning that the Empire alone couldn't handle it. Reminder that, Dimitri, Dedue and Felix all survive SB, so the Empire can't take down three of the strongest fighters in the Kingdom (so less people die, because in SB she's not allied with TWS and does nothave the strength given to her by them, such as the beasts). Ingrid went out specifically to die because she planned to fight as long as possible so Dimitri could get away, meaning she never intended to survive that battle. Sylvain went out in a fit of rage seeking revenge for Ingrid, so his head wasn't on straight and he wasn't fighting with his brain, but his emotions.
Could they have taken these people down otherwise? Sylvain, no. He's too smart. If he wasn't so angry he would have backed off as soon as he realized he was overmatched in that battle. He wouldn't have died there because Dimitri wasn't there to die for, and neither was Felix. Also, he's not nearly as suicidal in this game. If he wasn't seeking revenge, he wouldn't have died, plain and simple. Could they have beaten Ingrid normally? No, because similarly, she would've retreated if she didn't go into the battle planning to fight until she died. She would've left to continue protecting her friends, home and king.
What this means is that she looks less bad because less people died, meaning her war killed less named and beloved characters. The difference though is that it doesn't make her less evil - it just means that alone, her might isn't capable of taking these people down. She needs to be allied with another army to win her war, which is why she took with TWS in the first place in Houses. Since they wanted her to look better in Hopes, she ditched them... but that means she still needs allies for her war. She knows she can't take down the Kingdom alone and they're allied with the Church, and she knows she can't take down Rhea because Rhea is a dragon.
Then there's GW, which just makes Edelgard look FUNNY. It's Claude who has to invade the Kingdom, because she can't break through the west front. Even after Claude fights in Fhirdiad, she still can't take down the west front. This means that, not only did the Empire have people do their bidding for what they weren't strong enough to do, but they had to take any other matters into their own hands for what TWS wouldn't help with in this story. It means Edelgard had to dirty her hands because they weren't there to do it, and she just wasn't strong enough to win her own war.
Remember, in SB, she doesn't win her own war. Her enemies kill each other, and the Kingdom is weakened because she allied with another army to fight them because she doesn't have the strength to do it herself. She looks less evil in Hopes because, being totally frank and not even saying this out of a hatred for her, she's weak. She's too weak to actually win and conquer, and she looks worse if she wins and takes control of all the lands she stomped on to win. When she loses, she looks better because she's not the tyrannical leader of all of Fodlan. In Hopes, no matter what route you're on, Edelgard does not win the war and does not achieve anything with her own army's strength. In CF, she does win because her allies are TWS for the entire game and they're only defeated post game because the game's duration is her war, which she needed them for the entirety of to actually win.
In GW, she doesn't win the war. She doesn't defeat Rhea, instead leaving that to Claude, who had Shez in his army (and was probably the only one with the actual power to rival Rhea's, for obvious reasons).
This also is why the kingdom survives and is never taken over. In Houses, it was never Edelgard's strength that conquered it. However, it does mean every single thing that happened in the war was on her head, because there was no TWS to take the fall for her the bad things that happened.
How it looks on her character:
So, looking at it from both ways, to sum it up... why are they so upset that they have to fight their classmate, who lied to them and was faking around them? Why are they upset about fighting her when she's been doing all this stuff in the war by her own desires and orders? There's no getting mad at TWS for what she does.
The Empire when pitted against the Kingdom can't win without allies, and Edelgard presumbly knew that in Houses and had allies - TWS. In Hopes, she gets Claude on her side because she can't do, well, jack shit to the Kingdom without him. Without something unexpected in the mix (the Alliance in Hopes, TWS in Houses), the Kingdom's strength is enough to defend.
Since TWS are her enemies in this story, she never actually wins. She doesn't lose, but she doesn't win. The only reason she doesn't lose is because she allied with another army (who she was canonically losing to in both routes anyway).
So basically, how do the writers make up for Edelgard not teaming up with TWS here? They have her use the Alliance instead, making her look better for not siding with TWS. To make her look even better, they have TWS do horrific things as a third party to it all, independently fucking around and making Edelgard have to go stop them. It makes TWS look like the worst of all scum, and it props up the "less evil" villains.
In GW, Claude does shady shit because ??? and that also makes Edelgard look better because she's very up front and doesn't do tactics the way he does. She's very forthright and if she didn't want to ally with the Alliance, she would have said as much and not have teamed up with them to stab them in the back later. Instead, that's given to Claude because, well, let's face it, it makes him look worse than her. She also gets no flak for killing Rhea in this game because she can't, because she doesn't have the power TWS gave her. She fights Rhea, certainly, even with Shez's power... but it's not enough. Rhea survives everything you do and only dies against Thales.
So basically, Edelgard is just weak and incapable of winning in this game, and it makes her look better and nicer, since she doesn't have the ability to use Demonic Beasts. The characters feel like upset because she did "less evil" things and killed fewer people (again, because she's not capable of doing so).
And again, I'm not even saying that out of hate. Edelgard admits they needed TWS in CF if they were going to win the war. Consequently, she doesn't win the war in any route in Hopes because she splits off from them in all routes.
No, it doesn't make her a better person or more worthy of people's pity, but they used Claude as a means of having someone else do worse things than her to make the characters doubt Claude while believing wholly in Edelgard for being so forthright. Since TWS is worse than Claude, it makes a tier of "bad", and she's at the very bottom of it. Thus, the characters see her in a better light and don't want to kill her.
Other stuff:
In AG it's actually kinda interesting, because even though the Empire has fallen because of Thales, literally nobody pities Edelgard for the situation she ended up in. Nobody feels bad about it and nobody thinks man, we should save Edelgard, she isn't the one who made the Empire fall into ruin like this. They still understand she's the one who started this war and enabled enough of a situation for TWS to take advantage of it. She gave them the opening instead of fighting them in the first place.
Even if you went along with her strategy of siding with the Church to take out TWS, but then she betrays the Church and starts her war against them because she also sees them as her enemy, that would have been the most reasonable strategy. Side with the Church, take out the strongest enemy first so they can't run around wreaking havoc while you ignore them to fight your war, then deal with the Church after when they won't have distractions and a potential other enemy creeping up on them.
Point being, it was stupid to start a war against the Church after simply driving out Thales from the capital. She should've waited to start the war until they'd taken out TWS completely. Why didn't they do this? Because they needed TWS in the story to make her look like a better person. Removing them too soon would mean she can't go back and stop their destruction. She can't seem like the better person because there's nobody worse than her. By making her strategy, well, let's face it, incredibly stupid to the point even Hubert told her outright not to do it/that he didn't agree with it, it made her look, well, honestly, dumb... but a better person in the long run.
Like I said, in AG it's done in a more interesting way because her situation doesn't get pitied by anyone. The people loyal to her are still loyal to her, but that's about it. None of her enemies feel sorry for her. None of them see that her war brought about something bad on her (i.e. being controlled by Thales) and went awww poor thing. She reaps what she sows and faces the consequeces of both starting a war and not being smart about it (i.e. dealing with TWS altogether at the start or remaining allied with them until the war was over like in CF). The characters in AG see it for it was, and Edelgard had to have known that there would be potential consequences of doing what she did.
Even at the very end, Dimitri doesn't pity her when she her mentality reverts to a child's. He doesn't feel it necessary to stain his hands with her blood at that point because the war is over. If she was still a threat they would defeat her but she wasn't, and she also didn't have any memory of starting the war, so killing her would be for nothing but personal gain, which at that point Dimitri didn't have. If anything, it might have staved off even more more because the emperor would be returned home safely, and possibly even by Dimitri (because I can't imagine the Church would do it after she declared explicitly on them, and I doubt Claude would even care to do it because he has no history with her like Dimitri does) or someone he trusts.
The Empire would need to focus on dealing with what happened to her, and they wouldn't be in a position to keep fighting or even need to since the person who wanted the war doesn't even have the memories leading up to why the war was started. All they could really do at that point was take care of her and decide what to do about leadership (and in this moment, we're going to prefend Ferdinand wasn't killed offscreen. They didn't say he was, so he wasn't! Got it? Yeah? Great!).
This last part doesn't really have much to do with your ask, but I wanted to add it in as a contrast to the way SB/GW were written and how they did make her seem like a better person than Claude. They made it seem like she was less bad for doing whats he did with her own hands this time because there was no TWS to do it for her. AG flips that on its head and says no, we don't care that she ended up in a bad situation because she brought it on herself. They said no, we're not going to pity her just because someone worse than her came along because she still did what she did.
Imo AG was just a much more refreshing and realistic take. They didn't look at her and see uwu classmate. They looked at her and saw the woman who started a war and knew what she was doing. Just because she lost in her own war and just because someone got the jump on her didn't make her worth pitying.
Instead, we get a wholly satisfying conclusion to the Duscur story, whcih was completely dropped in AM and probably because they ran out of chapters. We can bring a literal army of victims from that tragedy with us and have them be able to face the person who caused all of it. Since Duscur was also allied with Faerghus for a long while at this point, it wraps up that storyline in a nice, neat bow. The only thing left is to assume that things with Duscur went well and that Claude determined starting a new war over the Church just wasn't worth it.
Claude post AG (in contrast to him in the other routes):
Yes, I think Claude considered taking advantage of an existing war to fight the Church and might have done so in Hopes if Edelgard wasn't out of commission, because if she wasn't the war would continue. However, the war was over right then and there and more fighting on his part would just be a really stupid move that would turn everyone around him against him.
The war ended, the person who started it lost, and the third party was defeated. People would not want to fight another war just because Claude doesn't understand Fodlan at all in this game. Quite ironic that Edeglgard's rhetoric to him in VW about not knowing enough about Fodlan to lead it was completely true in this game... or maybe they did that on purpose to make her look better! Again! :D :'D
So yeah, Claude didn't start another war after AG ended. I say that, of course, assuming AG Claude has a brain and knows how to use it. Also, I don't think he would want to make enemies of the Kingdom at that point. If his goal remained to bring people together, he had already succeeded in getting every territory on the same page by allying with the sides opposing Edelgard in the first place.
The only people left are the Empire's people, who weren't in a position to fight and would probably just agree to an allying sort of truce so that all of Fodlan was on the same page. Even without Hubert or Ferdinand, they have Waldemar, and he's smart enough imo to make the right moves there. Claude has no reason to start a new war/renew an existing war that just ended when now that there's no war to just jump into to use as an excuse for something, he can just use words and his presumably route working brain to figure out how to work with the Church. Like, you know, he does in VW.
#this is two months late im so sorry ahjfgsahfd#also I recall it being somewhere in Houses that she knows their army can't win their war alone#hence allying with TWS. her army needed their power to actually get through her win#and I recall her saying that she has to wait to fight them specifically bc she needed them for the war#i.e. she knew if she ditched them too soon that she wouldn't win#that's what made her route sound initially interesting in Hopes bc she did ditch them#but it also proved her points in CF that she didn't have the strength to win the war she started#she was losing to the Alliance in GW and SB both iirc#the best way to win her war would be - well - to ally with someone better than her in strength#get the strong people on her side to fight her war for her bc she can't do it. TWS was also that in Houses#however in CF she actually wins while allied with horrific people. it makes her look worse#in SB she doesn't win no matter what route you're on and allies with normal people#in CF she crushes TWS after the story but she ultimately has an ending that expresses oppression#her ending mural and the fact that she started a war and destroyed all opposing powers is the evidence of that#in Hopes she crushed... nothing. nobody. her enemies crushed each other bc Rhea determined that TWS#was a much worse threat /for Fodlan/ than Edelgard was and so chose to die fighting Thales#presumably she figured whoever was left in Fodlan could deal with Edelgard later without her help#i.e. Claude and Dimitri who are still alive in one version of SB and Dimitri who is still alive in the other#so either way in SB there will ALWAYS be opposition to her war because /she will always be stuck between not winning or losing/#she doesn't get to win and be the big bad leader of Fodlan. it makes her look like a better person#ALSO (him in the other routes): is perfect bc it made a frowny face JKDGUJGF LOL#DCE Ask

Fierce and Bold // Aemond Targaryen x Reader
Tumblr media
warnings: none, fluff, reader is a badass, insults, insecurity, comfort, kissing + not proofread
Summary: The ladies at the keep mocked prince aemond for his appearance, what they didn't expect was to be confronted by you, who was known for your fierce behavior.
WC: 1.3k
A/N: just a small fluff one shot before CF&BD drops cause that is uhm yeah
You were known to be fierce since young, always bold and never holding back what you want to say, ready to confront anyone at any given moment. This caused many men who were looking for wives to completely skip you, because apparently according to them you were considered 'unladylike' a woman who does not know 'her place' but it did not bother you, because you did not want to get married anyway, for the life of solitary is better than being a broodmare for a man whomst you do not love.
But you had caught Aemond's eye, he first heard other men talking about you, mostly negative things and that piqued his interest, he wanted to see you, see the 'rebel' as others called you, by himself.
And as if the gods were on his side, his father, Viserys, threw a grand party in the honour of celebrating the fifth nameday of the twins, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera, where your house was also invited.
It was as if the maiden herself entered the room when he saw you stepping in the grand hall, dressed in a beautiful dark blue gown and with it a pearl choker with a sapphire in the middle of it. His breath was caught in his throat as he watched you walk down elegantly, and it was at that moment that he decided that he wanted you all to himself.
“Look at the lady at the corner, the one with the dark blue gown, she reminds me of your sapphire.” Aegon comments dumbly, the wine and ale he had consumed already getting to his head, yet that revelation only made Aemond's desire to claim you further.
You were dancing with a Lord until you stepped backwards and hit a hard surface, you quickly turned back to spot the Prince looking down at you, and you shivered, something about him was so intimidating but also attractive, Aemond gives you his hand to take, asking you to dance in a silent way, and you do. Ditching the poor Lord you were dancing with for him.
And as you both dance, he grabs you by your waist and pulls you close, and for the first time in your life, you felt your heart flutter for a man, “You look amazing, my lady.” he compliments you, and you smile at him, “You too, my prince.” you say it back shyly, “Do you want to accompany me on a walk, my prince?” you did not know where that boldness came from, but you asked, directly looking into his eye, and his mouth dropped slightly in shock at your straightforwardness, he simply smirks and nods and you lead the way.
And soon you both are strolling through the gardens, you're admiring the garden of the red keep, how well it is kept and maintained, you pick up a rose and smell it, smiling contently when the fragrant sweet smell hits your senses.
You both talk quite a bit, it's mostly just you talking to him, enjoying his company more than you thought you would, he is the listener type, while you babble on, perfectly balancing each other out. The path is soon filled with your uncontrolled giggles at his 'jokes' and his face in a wide smile, feeling content and full with you.
But all of that comes crashing down when these three ladies stop in front of you both, greeting Aemond, he simply nods his head and walks past them, and you do the same until you hear them whisper.
“Look at his spoiled attitude, if he wasn't a prince then he wouldn't even be given a shit about.” one of them says.
“Yeah, especially with that hideous scar, and the missing eye, I heard that he looks like a monster without the eyepatch.”
And that's what makes you stop in your tracks and you turn to face them, Aemond had clearly heard them too, and you can tell by the way the huge smile was wiped off his face with those comments, it angered you to no end.
“What did you just say?” you go up to the three and stand in front of them, arms crossed and they scoff while looking at you, “The prince looks hideous?” you question them as you grit your teeth and that's when their expression turns into shock, knowing you both heard them.
“That's not want we-”
“If you have something to say, say it to my face, cowards. And no way you're saying that with such a hideous personality such as yours, spoiled to the core and rotten.” you quip and you watch as the ladies gulp, “Why are you defending him as if he is a lover? Oh my, a scandal?” one of the ladies tried getting back at you, suggesting spreading a rumour that can ruin your reputation but you just raised your eyebrow.
“Really now? That is the best you can do? What did I even expect.” you roll your eyes and uncross your arms. “But to answer the latter question, yes I do like him, in fact I think he is the most attractive man in the entirety of westeros.” you give her a sarcastic smile.
“Apologise to him.” you say sternly and they all look at you confused, “Tell him that you're sorry, and if I were to hear you slandering the prince once again, I will have your tongue, it is my word.” you threaten and they shiver, knowing you, they very well know how you keep your word.
They quickly apologise and scurry off, not wanting to argue against any longer, accepting defeat.
You scoff as you watch them pace back as cowards before you turn to look at Aemond who seemed to be looking at you in a daze,
“And they deem me mannerless, at least i do not go around mocking others for no reason.” you sigh, and go near him, you shake his arm, yet he doesn't budge.
“My prince-? Mhmph!” you're cut off when he slams his lips against yours, pulling you into a deep kiss, and you are confused at first but then you wrap your arms around his neck and kiss him back, and he groans in the kiss, pulling apart and kissing your cheek, and down your neck, nipping at the flesh.
“Marry me.” he doesn't ask, he commands and pulls you into a tight hug, his body leaning down and face buried in the crook of your neck.
“Of course, my prince.” you accept and he pulls back, giving you a smile before kissing you on the lips once again.
“You are different from all the ladies I've met before.” he says and you furrow your brows, “No my prince, I am the same as them, I am not different, a lady's lady, if you will, I only tend to speak out more and voice my opinions, a bad trait the others deem.” you sigh.
“That's not true, I quite like that you speak out more, and confront others, it is a wonderful trait.” he compliments you and you blush.
“You might be the only man in the history of Westeros who is singing praise about me.” you joke and he smiles, tucking a stray hair strand behind your ear, making you look at him.
“Gevie.” he says and you tilt your head in confusion, he chuckles before pressing a kiss to your forehead, “It means beautiful, in the language of my ancestors.” and you give him a shy smile, looking down.
“I shall ask for your hand in marriage once we get back to the hall, how does that sound?” he asks you for your opinion and you nod.
“It's perfect.”
Y/N L/N, Lady wife of Prince Aemond Targaryen, was known to be sharp, fierce, and bold, which was a trait no man liked. It was speculated that she was a witch who bewitched the Prince to fall for her, but later it was disproved by many other scholars as well as modern world scholars, who quoted ‘Historians just hate a woman who has a personality of her own.’

Idea for a Fic: So lets do the Childhood Friend stuff but lets give it a spin... So basically the Reader (Male) is a Hybrid (Like it has animal features) and gets Bullied a lot for that..
So about the Childhood Friend, he and the reader kinda got separeted because of the CF new popularity (Like he could be the Star player of the School or a super popular jock), but he wants the reader back with him..
So lets just say when he finds out about the Bullying.. Yeah some people are not going to be around anymore.. (You could also make him a possessive boyfriend that clingless a lot with the reader now and plans to never leave him alone again)..
Finally getting to this one!
Yandere Childhood Friend x Hybrid Reader
M yan x M reader
TW - bullying, murder, stalking
Tumblr media
The days blended into each other. By now you've grown numb to the snide remarks people made about you. But it was harder to ignore the other things they did. Pulling your tail, making exceptionally loud noises next to your ears, cornering you, forcing you to get on all fours and act like an animal. At least, most of those things weren't exactly painful...right?
The only solace you found was in your childhood friend. Orbit used to be. The two of you grew apart. You really didn't want to, but he became so popular, his schedule so busy. There was never enough time for you anymore.
That...was fine. Things couldn't stay the same forever. Those were the same words you used to keep yourself going. When the bullying only seemed to get worse, you reminded yourself of how everything changes. That meant someday, it would all stop...hopefully.
And a change did come! A small one. But your old friend texted you saying he was free for once and wanted to catch up. Maybe rekindle your friendship.
You were ecstatic the day of. Your tail happily waving back and forth as you say him approaching. You agreed to meet at the park.
As soon as he saw you, he instantly ran over and picked you up in a strong hug. He's definitely gotten stronger since when you last saw each other. But putting you down, he frowned.
"You seem thin...have you been eating properly?" How did he notice?! It's been too long for him to remember something like that.
But he remembered everything about you. Everything.
So maybe you haven't had as much of an appetite from all the bullying and maybe they didn't give you a second alone to eat whenever it was lunch time anyway but it's fine!
"Oh, yeah, I've just...been trying to lose weight!"
He crossed his arms, clearly not believing you. He just couldn't figure out why...he'd get to the bottom of this.
The rest of your afternoon to get her went great but he just couldn't get your health out of his mind. You looked absolutely exhausted too, and seemed pretty weak. And when you thought he wasn't looking, you looked a bit...sad.
You didn't know it, but he didn't leave. He followed you home. And when you were asleep, he got in. He needed to know what was going on with you, so he searched everything he could. Your phone, your laptop, your book bag, even your trash. Everything he could.
And what did he find? Well, all the evidence he needed to know somebody, no, multiple somebody's were bullying you.
They wouldn't get away with it.
For the next few months he was...clingy, but it was nice. You spent more time with him than you have for a while.
He always walked you to your classes hung out with you at lunch and even dragged you along to his practice after school.
Not only that, but he couldn't stop touching your ears. Even as a kid he couldn't keep his hands off of them. He couldn't help it, they were so cute!
And after a while, he even worked up the courage to confess his feelings! It was so romantic. He gave you all sorts of sweet treats, took you on a romantic date, and gave you such a heartfelt letter. It took him so long to write that, and even longer to work up the courage he needed to hand it over! But now every day was a thrill knowing he had just the cutest boyfriend ever.
You hardly even noticed some certain bullies of yours going missing. He kept you distracted from all that. You deserved to only see the good in the world. To only be spoiled with his love.
But eventually the news got to you. Specifically when one of their bodies was found and it was the only thing anyone would talk about. That's when you really found out about all the disappearances. It was so cute how scared you got. You became about as clingy to him as he was to you!
And well, of course you did. He'd protect you. No matter what happens, he'll always keep you safe. Even if that means killing a few...insects.

It just hit me how sad the moment Katniss first talks to Finnick is.
He's doing his usual act trying to win over the women he meets when the topic turns to the Quell. He tells her that she could have gotten a lot from the Capitol. Money, fame and all the stuff she could ever want.
She asks about what he does with his money and he tells her he doesn't bother with money.
She kinda dismisses him and says "then how do people pay for the pleasure of your company?" (CF movie). She's annoyed and wants to be left alone but still. She unknowingly jabbed the knife in and twisted. I don't know if Finnick knew she wasn't being used by the Capitol yet but imagine how that would have felt. To be asked how you get paid for? If not money then what is it they pay for your body with?
We know he had a particularly hard time with it. He was so young and doing it to save Annie. We know she didn't know and hadn't meant to but I get the impression that movie Finnick felt hurt by it. Immediately after he gets kinda withdrawn and snarky. He makes a jab back about how she's right that her secrets are shared before she even knows and tells her he's sorry she had to cancel the wedding.
It's a beautiful scene to watch Sam Claflin did a fantastic job as Finnick. And I think just realizing how Finnick would have taken that line (if he didn't know that Katniss wasn't being sold as well) adds something extra to the scene. It aged very well.

Another thing about the epilogue is that in the beginning, Katniss doesn't say she doesn't want kids. She says she's never having them. Big difference.
Here's the thing, I do agree with you in terms of Katniss's heart of hearts, but there is this exchange with Gale:
"I never want to have kids," I say. "I might. If I didn't live here," says Gale. "But you do," I say, irritated. "Forget it," he snaps back.
Katniss doesn't give us insight exactly into why she doesn't want kids here. She does speak of how difficult it is to have a family, and at this point she hasn't explained what The Hunger Games are. Also at the start of the series, Katniss is resigned to the fact that this is the way life is. She's not itching for rebellion like Gale. To her, life will continue this way, and she doesn't want to have kids in the only Panem she's ever known. So therefore, she will "never want to have kids."
The reasoning for this declaration is given more depth in the last chapter of the novel:
That if I do have feelings for him, it doesn't matter because I'll never be able to afford the king of love that leads to a family, to children. And how can he? How can he after what we've just been through?
And in Catching Fire in regards to the baby bomb:
Isn't it the thing I dreaded most about the wedding, about the future—the loss of my children to the Games? And it could be true now, couldn't it? If I hadn't spent my life building up layers of defenses until I recoil at even the suggestion of marriage or a family?
Honestly, these lines are just heartbreaking. In the first one, Katniss uses transactional language, as she often does. It's not that she doesn't want a family, she can't afford it, just as she couldn't afford the cakes in the bakery shop. The cost of having a child would be far too high, of losing her children to the Games or else watching them struggle in the pains of hunger, cold, and want. To possibly die herself and leave them vulnerable, as what happened to her after her father's death. In the CF quote, she admits that she built a defense against the very thing that could destroy her: love. The most powerful love she could experience, and a potential fate that she "got a taste of" with Prim at the 74th Reaping, but could curtail by volunteering for her, something she would be powerless to do as a mother.
If Katniss truly didn't want children, didn't want a marriage, didn't want what her life was in the epilogue, she wouldn't have needed to build those defenses. And not only that, it was layers of them. As if each time she had a thought or feeling toward that life, she told herself, "no, that's not for me. That is a life I can't have."
People may argue Katniss was choosing not to have children, but is it really a free choice if the Capitol's violence would be perpetuated against her children in either poverty and/or a spot in the Games? If the choices are a.) never have sex that will lead to pregnancy b.) see your child go hungry and live in poverty; or c.) see your child be taken to the Hunger Games, how is that at all free choice? Like every other aspect of her life, even this, the choice to marry or not, was being coerced by the Capitol even before she stepped in the Games.
It's only a choice when she can be as certain as any parent reasonably can that her children are safe. And though it understandably takes her time, in the end, she does agree to have children with Peeta. The "layers of defenses" slowly come down and she's able to see what was behind there: a desire for a family. And with that, taking back the life that the Capitol took from her when she was eleven years old.

For the sibling one with Coriolanus snow, you could do one like in the future with Katniss and sibling, not knowing anything that's been going on?
Or
Like it's when he's President and sibling wants to get married?
Hey Everyone!
IMPORTANT (Please Read)
Thank you so much for all of the love of the platonic yandere Coriolanus! I thought this idea was exciting so I wanted to build off of the idea of it going into Katniss's time as suggested by some readers. But, I did not want the reader to be as old as they would be if it were to take place at the correct time canonically.
So I am going to move the time forward a little bit to where a part of it will take place during Catching Fire. It would usually be 65 years in the future with CF being the 75th Hunger Games but I am going to make it take place on the 25th making the reader only 15 years older. I was imagining them being 5 or 6 years old so I am going to say they are 20 when it gets to that part.
Sorry for that entire big explanation, just did not want to confuse anyone and just pretend it worked out with the timeline.

Tumblr media
Coriolanus wasn't expecting everything to change as it did. But it was almost... nice. He was able to spend entire days with his little sister whenever he finished training or the peacekeepers were doing mental training, which he had already mastered through the academy. On the days he had to do training he locked Y/N in the room through an outside lock.
"It is for your safety Y/N, you don't want to be taken away from me, do you? There are evil people out there, savages.”
"Then why'd you bring me?" She asked genuinely curious. Her Grand'mam and cousin were probably lonely without her, she also missed them. Even if Coriolanus was her main family it didn't discount them any less. He gave her a forced sympathetic look.
"I couldn't imagine my years without you Y/N. I love you. You're my little sister, my snowflake." He picked her up and held her close as a few forced tears fell from his eyes.
The thing was Y/N was very empathetic. She worried about everyone and everything feelings, from her classmates to a small bug. Which meant Coriolanus crying was going to make her cry, he was her older brother after all.
She started crying a little as he comforted her "I love you too Corio, I am just scared. I don't want to leave you, I promise I'll stay here." she spoke in a watered voice as she held up a pinky for a pinky promise. He wrapped his around tight as he kissed her forehead.
Within a few days of being there he found Lucy Grey.
The peacekeepers went to The Hob to have some time off and a little fun, which had different meanings for different people. Coriolanus didn't even get close to the alcohol, he was not giving that sort of impression to his sister and he wanted to have full control over himself so he could best protect Y/N.
That's when she went on stage and they saw each other. Lucy Grey liked him, but all he saw was a means to an end as he thought of how he could use her to watch over his sister.
Even when a fight broke loose, he did not join in, he picked up his sister before pushing her head into his neck to hide her eyes from the brutality.
When he went to find her in the forest, he brought Y/N.
Lucy was singing a song when she heard a twig snap behind her making her turn around quickly.
"Sorry... Instincts from the games." She looked down and saw a little girl hiding behind his leg. Lucy Grey was always adept to little kids, their eyes shone differently than adults. They were innocent. Bending down she made a show of peeking around him to see her. "and who is this little lady?"
"My little sister Y/N." Lucy Grey looked up at him with a shocked look. Not because he had a little sister, of course, that was all he talked about when they mentioned their families to each other, but the fact he would subject her to the fate of living in the districts with little money and no one to watch her.
Y/N peaked around and smiled at the girl, remembering what she's heard and been told of the songbird.
From that day on when Corio had peacekeeper training, Y/N would stay with Lucy. It was rare he would allow someone to watch over her without him present but the idea of someone entering the room or her without supervision wore on his mind.
Sure Sejanus had followed him to District 12 but he wasn't allowing his sister to stay alone, He was worried about ideals he would place into her head.
He told Lucy that his family wouldn't watch over her and since he was sent out here they made her go with him. Lucy usually was really good at detecting lies but to him. this wasn't a lie. e didn't trust his family to watch over her without him.
It was one of Lucy Grey’s days to watch her and they went out to the lake to pick flowers to make crowns out of.
“So what’s your favorite color darlin' ?” She asked the little girl as they crouched by each other picking the prettiest flowers of the bunch.
“White! Like Corio hair and our white roses!” She said giggling after all it wasn’t completely white. But then she saw a flower close to the same white “Like this!”
Lucy nearly swooned at the adorable child. It was hard to image that she was the sibling of Coriolanus Snow, the man who is so focused on surviving the world around him he forgets to live.
“Were you.. excited to come with your brother?” Trying to gage her reaction, making sure Y/N was okay when she wasn’t around.
“I do miss Tigres! And Grand’mam but Corio wanted me to come with him. I don’t remember leaving…” Y/N trailed off but her mind instantly got distracted by a little white flower.
Lucy Grey was confused about how the girl didn’t remember leaving the Capital but shook it off as a child’s memory. After all she had no reason to suspect otherwise.
But if she looked into it more, she could’ve seen all of the signs.
~*~
When the opportunity came to return to District 2. Coriolanus did not hesitate. Sure he would lose out on someone watching Y/N but it was a safer district and by now she was used to being in the room. She wouldn't disobey her big brother either by attempting to leave it. he knew best after all.
But he still needed to pass some tests. Things to ensure his loyalty. Why have many little tasks when they can be done in 1?
Sejanus was communicating with rebels, forming a plan to leave the Districts and live on their own beyond the walls of Panem. Sadly, he wasn't very sleek about it nor could he leave without telling his 'best friend'.
He suggested that Coriolanus come with. Bring Y/N and live freely without hurting anyone.
"Do not pull me into this. Rebels almost killed me with that bombing, or do you not remember?"
"Come on Corio! This is bigger than us. If you won't go what about Y/N? A kid does not need to grow up in the Capital watching others kill each other in a so called 'game'. Is that what you want for her?
That was Sejanus's mistake. Questing is protection and love for his sister.
It made his decision for him and he ended the recording on the jabber jay the second he declined the offer leading to Sejanus walking away.
Corio put Dr. Gaul's name on the box and sent it off with a weight off his shoulders. If this did not prove his loyalty to the Capital, they were stupid. He just caught a traitor. Maybe some indirectly but, one from its own walls.
That marked 3 killed by his doing.
When it was time to leave he gave some thought out spiel to Lucy Grey. He wouldn't make an enemy out of her if it was not needed. Sure she was hurt since she had practically fallen in love with the boy and his darling little sister but Lucy being Lucy knew the hold his little sister had on his heart. She wouldn't want to hold him back from getting her somewhere safer and to him that meant the Capital.
After he left Lucy Grey was never seen again. She did not tell him she was leaving or where. So he had no reason to accuse her of being a traitor.
Leaving them to part nicely.
-Time Skip 5 Years-
It was now the 15th Annual Hunger Games. Technology had greatly advanced throughout the years leading to an even better arena, one that wouldn't be easily blown up.
Coriolanus was working to prove himself so he was still residing under Dr. Gaul. He had forbidden her from watching the games. He didn’t want the violence harbored in her young mind. But he wasn’t there to stop her.
He was overseeing the interviews and the games, leaving Y/N home with Tigres and Grand’mam. When the game interviews started, they begun watching on the projector with her sneaking out of her room just enough to see it without them seeing her.
That’s when she saw the tribute from district 4.
Finnick Odair.
He was the youngest in the game at only 14 years old.
Y/N instantly had a little crush. She was only 10 so it wasn’t like it was true love, but his charm was noticeable to her and sadly the rest of the capital.
Tigres felt sympathy for the boy, the idea of it being Coriolanus harboring in her mind but now all she can picture of him, is his father.
When the games began and bets were made. No one could predict the outcome.
Especially not Y/N as Tigres noticed her sneaking out of her room and made her go back inside, not wanting to deal with the wrath of Coriolanus nor did she think Y/N should be seeing this at her age.
Somehow Finnick won. Making him the youngest Victor in the Hunger Games.
Of course, the lavish capital had a party for the elites after the games commenced. The idea of 23 deaths had not even crossed their minds.
Coriolanus went to build connections and Y/N begged him to go with.
"No Y/N, I'm sorry. It is too dangerous." He said trying to convince her in a way that worked many years ago.
"Please! I really want to get dressed up like you! I wanna see what you do" She begged and pleaded and Coriolanus hated seeing her sad. He almost missed those days back in the districts where Y/N was only his. But, the proud big brother in him was proud of how she's grown.
"Fine, but you're staying by my side the entire time. Swear?" He said holding out a pinkie. He found it silly after all it does nothing to prevent someone from breaking the promise but to his little sister it was sacred law and luckily it worked out for him.
Y/N squealed excitedly before linking pinkies and hugging him tightly as she profusely thanked him.
"Tigres, come to get Y/N ready. She is coming with," Coriolanus called out.
~*~
The party was as expected. It was decorated to the point someone would call it crowded. Avoxes were bringing hors d’oeuvres and drinks while the Capital was dressed classy but slightly over the top.
It didn’t matter that the winner was 14, it was a party made for the adults. Especially the game makers and everyone who had anything to do with them. Even the egotistical sponsors.
Coriolanus and Y/N walked in hand in hand as he made a small show about holding it out to her. She giggle enjoyably as they walked down velvet steps.
Coriolanus was talking to everyone, getting their name and status indirectly as he talked to them. One would think they would spill their darkest moment if they were left alone with him.
Even then not once did he let go of his little sister’s hand.
That’s when it came it Finnick. Coriolanus did not like the victor’s or anyone related to the districts. To him they were traitors and monsters. (If only he would look in the mirror).
So when they approached Coriolanus was on alert.
“Finnick Odair, newest Víctor. Tell me, what are you going to do with the money you were oh so graciously given?”
Finnick was calm and composed as if had been dealing with the Capital his entire life. Their questions and stares not even resulting in a mild flinch.
“Bring it back to my family of course.”
Y/N stood next to Corio, with a bashful grin as she stared at the boy. She had never imagined being this close to him.
“And who is she?” Finnick asked politely looked down at the girl who turned bright red at the attention. He simply found her adorable. Nothing bad about it.
“My little sister.” Corio replied as he lightly pushed Y/N behind him seeing the look that was reciprocated through the two even if it wasn’t known to the other. “We should be going now, I’m sure Mr. Plinth would like to talk to you.” He turned and began walking away as Y/N’s bracelet slipped off right at Finnick’s feet. He grabbed it cautiously as if he’d be attacked for holding it but nobody noticed and Y/N certainly didn’t mind after returning to the Capital with the money from Coriolanus’s win, she had more than enough jewelry.
He attempted to give it back but she was no where to be seen as her and Coriolanus left. He was angry and he was good at handling his emotions outwardly but he knew he was a fuse ready to blow when it came to his little snowflake.
Finnick kept the bracelet in his pocket, bringing it everywhere to go to remind him of the goodness in this world. Not expecting to ever see her again.
That was until the 25th Hunger Games, The Quarter Quell.

Ghitian Breeding Program
CW: alien pregnancy, birth, etc etc 3400 words
The CF Osiris had just finished a job when Kaiz got the call. It was her turn to participate in her province's breeding program. It had been a few years since she'd last bred, and it was something she looked forward to, serving her planet in the best way she could.
The Ghitian species was largely female, with about a 95/5 split between the males and females. There were two types of females: breeders and layers. Each province had a few breeder females who oversaw the breeding programs, and handled the frequency and size of the breeding program. Most all females were drafted into the program once they came of age, sans those with health issues or other circumstances that would bar them from breeding.
A breeder female would mate with multiple males, grow hundreds of eggs, and implant the eggs into multiple layer females. After being implanted, the eggs would grow quickly and hatch within the layer female, before being born and taken to the proper childcare facilities. The children were not raised by their parents, but rather facilities specially build to raise and train them to contribute to the planet however they could.
Kaiz took her ship, a small armed shuttle, back to Ghitia. She touched down in her province mid morning and a transport was waiting for the newest batch of layers. Kaiz saw a few she'd been raised with and a few she didn't recognize, a few younger and older than her, but most around the same age. They all boarded the transport together, some of the younger ones talking amongst themselves. Kaiz heard that it was their first time breeding.
She had bred twice before, the first time she'd only been able to lay 8, but the second time shed gotten all the way to 14. She figured she could get even higher this time. Once they arrived at the breeding facility, they were asked to strip and clean themselves for the next step. Once stripped, they stretched properly, both their bodies and their loins. Then they were taken, one at a time, to see the breeder female, who would lay her eggs in them one at a time. Kaiz was near the back of the line, and could hear the mixed noises made by all the ones that went before her.
Finally, it was Kaiz's turn. She entered the room with the breeder female. Her name was Diyahux, and was a younger breeder female. Diyahux was tall, and her abdomen was massive. Like all pregnant breeder females, her insectoid abdomen stretched far behind her and supported by a huge cushion and woven fabric support bands. The room was bathed with red light and flowing fabric decorated the walls. Diyahux sat in the center on her breeder seat, and greeted Kaiz with a warm expression.
"You are Kaiz Dejslayer, yes?" Diyahux asked. Her voice was deep and comforting, and her pheromones filled the room, making Kaiz feel relaxed and almost lightheaded, but she tried to keep herself composed and professional.
"Y-yes, ma'am. I look forward to laying for you," Kaiz said. She wasn't nervous, but was having a hard time keeping it together around all the pheromones. They were starting to get to her even deeper. She began to feel the desire to be filled with eggs, and her nethers burned for stimulation.
"Come, when you are ready," Diyahux said. Her ovipositor emerged from between her legs. It was long and prehensile, and a bright green that almost glowed. Kaiz almost drooled at the sight of it. She approached Diyahux, and the larger female motioned for her to kneel on the mat in front of her. She knelt before the breeder and spread her legs, and was quickly met with the ovipositor. It entered her and slid in and out for a few moments, before probing deeper, all the way to her egg sac.
The ovipositor quickly began to swell, locking itself in place, and the first egg started to come down. It was deposited in Kaiz's egg sac, and followed by another. This continued until Diyahux had laid about 12 eggs, when Kaiz began to feel full.
"You're doing so well, Kaiz. Would you like me to stop there, or can you take a few more?" Diyahux said. Her tone was gentle, and she guided Kaiz's chin up to look her in the eye.
"N-no I-I can take more," Kaiz stammered. She wanted to get more than last time, then maybe eventually she would get promoted to carrying breeders. Normally most layer females would carry other layer females and males, but exceptional layers could be asked to carry new breeder females. Kaiz wanted to carry a breeder one day, for the good of the Ghitian race and her planet. To get promoted, one had to be able to carry at least 20 eggs, as breeder eggs were much larger than the others. It was a common goal for young Ghitians, but she took it very seriously.
"Alright, just tell me if you want me to stop." Diyahux deposited another egg into Kaiz, pulling her out of her thoughts. She almost whimpered, but she was determined to keep herself as composed as possible and not give in to the pheromones. Her egg sac stretched as yet another egg was deposited. She'd hit her record now, but felt she could take a few more. She been stretching herself since her last breeding, and figured she could carry at least sixteen eggs this time.
She endured as two more eggs were laid in her, and her egg sac almost began to hurt. "Ma'am, I-I don't think I can take any more," Kaiz said. She put one hand on her now slightly distended stomach and moaned. Diyahux pulled her ovipositor out, and some of the pressure in Kaiz's belly was relieved.
Kaiz stood and bowed slightly to Diyahux. "Thank you, ma'am."
"Oh, you don't need to be so formal! You'll be bearing my children, there's no need for all the professional talk," Diyahux said. "The guides outside will show you to your room, and you'll be given something to eat. I hope to see you again soon, Kaiz!"
Kaiz almost bowed again, but nodded instead. She exited, and was given a soft robe by the guide on the other side of the door. The guide led her to a nice room decorated similarly to Diyahux's, with flowing yellow fabric on the walls and a nice bed against the center of the back wall. Her bag had been placed on a chest of drawers against one wall, and a window showed a nice view of the city.
Currently the region was in a dark cycle, and the city was lit up beautifully. Tall spires reached towards the clouds, and ships could be seen coming in and out of the port. There was a knock on the door, and Kaiz opened it to another facility worker with a cart full of containers. She handed a container to Kaiz and hurried off to the next room. The container was full of vegetables and fruits native to the surrounding area and a few bits of meat. Ghitians were mostly vegetarian, but did eat some meat, especially when breeding. Kaiz closed the door and began to chew on a piece of fruit from the container. After finishing her meal, she checked her datapad, washed up, and promptly fell asleep.
. . .
Kaiz woke up a few hours later feeling noticeably different. Her belly felt looser and fuller. Shortly after having eggs laid into them, a layer female's egg sac would expand to make room for the larvae that would hatch and grow inside them, and it appeared to have grown quite a bit while she was asleep. She opened her robe to look at her belly, which had grown considerably, but not enough to be noticeable if she were to wear loose clothing. Over the course of the next few hours, the eggs inside of her should grow rapidly and then hatch into larvae, which would be birthed a little while after.
Soon there was a knock at the door, and Kaiz opened it to a worker with her morning meal. She handed a container to Kaiz and told her that a doctor would be in shortly to check on her progress and administer some medications as necessary. Most layers were given hormones to speed up the brooding process, as well as some other medications to make the whole thing easier and speed up recovery. True to the worker's word, there was another knock at the door after Kaiz had eaten, and the doctor entered.
Kaiz had already removed her robe, and the doctor wasted no time in her examination. She made sure Kaiz's egg sac was expanding properly, and that the eggs inside were all healthy and growing. After verifying that everything was well and good, she took out a needle and inserted it between two of Kaiz's sclerites to administer the growth hormones. She was also given a few pills before the doctor went on her way to see the next layer.
It wasn't more than a few minutes before Kaiz started to feel the effects of the medication. Her belly began to feel tight as the eggs grew within her, and she could almost feel them moving. After about an hour, her belly had reached the size of a full term human pregnancy. The hormones were affecting more than her eggs though, as her arousal skyrocketed. She could only try her best to relieve herself with her hands, but her belly in the way made things difficult. Her breathing was heavy as she moaned, looking around for something she could use to alleviate the feelings between her legs.
Suddenly, there was yet another knock at the door. A worker with a datapad instructed Kaiz to follow her to the breeder's chambers. Kaiz tried to ask what for, but all the worker said was, "Diyahux's orders."
When they arrived, the worker left her in the room with Diyahux. She sat on the bed in the center of the room, her abdomen now significantly smaller. She sat up when they entered, and perched herself on the edge of her bed.
"Kaiz, dear, you're looking well! Those eggs are growing so fast!" She said, smiling at Kaiz, before beckoning her over. "Come, come!"
"I know you must be feeling a little, shall we say, excited by the medications, and I've taken a personal liking to you, Kaiz." Diyahux's smile turned a bit more playful, and she motioned for Kaiz to come sit on the bed next to her, and she quickly obliged. Diyahux looked at Kaiz with a look she'd never seen on a breeder before. "So, are you alright with letting me help with that?"
Kaiz was surprised at Diyahux's forwardness. "Are you sure, ma'am? I'm just a layer, I mean, really, I-I could just-"
Diyahux put a finger over Kaiz's mouth. "A simple yes or no will work."
Kaiz hesitated for a moment, wondering why a breeder would want to service her like this. Layers lived to serve the breeders, and that had always been the case in Kaiz's experience, every breeder she'd met had commanded authority. But this one seemed . . . attracted to her, in a way she'd never seen before. She finally nodded.
Diyahux was delighted, and hoisted Kaiz onto her lap with ease, with Kaiz's back facing her and her belly out. She laid a hand over it, feeling the eggs inside, before her hand drifted lower, between Kaiz's legs.
She began to feel around, figuring out where everything was, before plunging one claw into Kaiz's hole. She gasped and moaned in pleasure, while Diyahux began pumping her claw in and out. Kaiz held her belly as Diyahux sped up, and Kaiz could hardly take it. She'd given up trying to stay composed in front of her breeder.
Diyahux laid her other hand on Kaiz's stomach and rubbed it gently while she continued down below. Kaiz had never felt pleasure like this before. She'd had sex with other layer Ghitians, and even other species on her travels, but none had made her feel like this. Maybe it was Diyahux's pheromones, or Kaiz's own hormones from being pregnant, but Kaiz couldn't hold herself back. She came onto Diyahux's claws with a cry of ecstasy, before leaning back into her chest to catch her breath.
"Mm. Those hormones really do a number on you, don't they?" Diyahux asked. Kaiz nodded.
Kaiz was taken by surprise when Diyahux suddenly picked her up and laid her on the bed. Diyahux laid down next to her and laid a hand back on her belly. Kaiz was still out of breath from her climax, and whimpered a bit. Diyahux used both hands to massage Kaiz's belly, feeling around the eggs and shifting them around. It drove Kaiz crazy. Diyahux seemed to enjoy watching Kaiz squirm in pleasure, and she kept massaging her belly as Kaiz gripped the sheets of the bed.
Crack.
The sound startled both of them, and Kaiz sat up and laid a hand on her midsection.
Crack. Crack.
The eggs were hatching, one by one, inside of Kaiz. The sound of the cracking filled the room, and soon Kaiz's belly was full of squirming larvae. They made small bulges all over her belly as they moved inside of her. Even after all 16 had hatched, the cracking continued as they ate their shells. The movement lit Kaiz's arousal once again, and she groaned as they squirmed inside her. Diyahux began to trace the bulges of her offspring, one by one.
This continued for about an hour, with Kaiz laying back down and clutching her belly full of larvae while Diyahux rubbed it and used her claws and ovipositor to pleasure her. The room was filled with the humid scent of pheromones and Kaiz's fluids. She had lost count of how many times she'd climaxed, until a cry of ecstasy turned into a cry of surprise as one of the larvae pushed against the exit of her egg sac.
The larva's head began to peek into Kaiz's birth canal. Diyahux looked concerned for a moment, thinking Kaiz was in pain, but it was quite the opposite. Kaiz whimpered as the larvae became more agitated, ready to leave her body. The first one was large, and reached her entrance before it was fully out of her egg sac. Kaiz pushed, and Diyahux caught the larva as it came out of her.
Diyahux called for a worker, who was there in the blink of an eye with a segmented bassinet for the larvae. She took the first one and paced it in the bassinet. The second one came shortly after.
"Good, girl, Kaiz. You're doing great," Diyahux said as Kaiz pushed out the third larva. She continued to whimper, but threw in the occasional grunt as she pushed. She pushed out larva after larva, climaxing after the fifth, and staying in a perpetual state of bliss until number twelve.
The twelfth was bigger than she'd ever laid, bigger even than she'd ever seen. It took a few minutes of pushing to even get the head of it out into the open before it got stuck. She tried to push it more, but it wouldn't budge.
Diyahux pushed on Kaiz's belly to try and get the larva out as the worker tugged on it gently. After a bit more pushing, it finally popped out all at once with a gush of fluid. Kaiz tried to catch her breath for a moment, but another larva was quick to replace the last.
Each one hit all her sensitive spots on the way down, and that mixed with the hands on her belly, she couldn't keep her composure. She was just letting herself moan and whimper in front of her breeder, her superior. No breeder would accept this kind of unprofessionalism! They were to be treated with the utmost respect! But Diyahux didn't seem to care about the social hierarchy, and Kaiz didn't know how to feel about that.
She hardly had any time to think about that, though. She had just one more larva to birth, and then all would be said and done. But this one didn't want to leave her egg sac. She couldn't push it out until it entered her birth canal, but it had to actually do that itself, and it seemed perfectly content wiggling around in the egg sac.
Eventually, Diyahux started to get worried, and called in the doctor. She suggested going in and getting it surgically, but that would be difficult and could harm Kaiz. But if the larva didn't come out on its own soon, it could be detrimental to both it and Kaiz. Kaiz was too busy with her arousal to think too much about it, but was surprised when she felt something enter her from the outside. Diyahux's ovipositor penetrated her all the way into her egg sac. The ovipositor was prehensile, and Kaiz could feel it moving inside her, searching for the larva that didn't want to come out.
After a bit of feeling around inside of Kaiz, Diyahux found the larva, wrapped her ovipositor around it, and slowly pulled it out. Kaiz climaxed again as it left her, and finally, all the larvae were out of her and in the bassinet. She slowly sat up to look at them, and that was the last thing she remembered before passing out.
. . .
She awoke, clean and larva-free, still in Diyahux's bed. Diyahux was on the other side of the room, talking to the doctor, but Kaiz couldn't hear what they were saying. The bassinet and all the larvae had been wheeled out of the room, and soon the doctor left too. Diyahux turned and noticed that Kaiz was awake and rushed over.
"Are you alright? The rest of the layers had relatively easy births, but you had two stuck larvae, and that's got to have been painful." Diyahux said, looking concerned.
It was true, Kaiz was sore, but not so badly that a few days rest wouldn't fix.
"I'm fine, ma'am, just a little sore. I've had much worse," Kaiz said. She had had worse, almost losing an arm during her time as a soldier.
"Well, you stay right there and I'll have someone bring you something to eat, okay?" Diyahux said.
"No, ma'am, it's alright, I can make it back to my-"
"Absolutely not, you are staying right here, that's an order," Diyahux scolded. "You need to rest, and you will do so right here. We don't want my favorite layer to hurt herself, now do we?"
Kaiz felt her face flush. Favorite layer?
Diyahux called a worker over and sent her to get Kaiz something to eat, and headed back over to the bed.
"They'll be back in a minute. But wow, I don't think I've even seen someone push out such a big regular larva!" Diyahux said. "Seriously, that was impressive. I think I'll be calling you back for another round soon enough, Kaiz."
Kaiz had never been praised like this for her births. She'd only gotten the usual "good work, layer" and nothing more. Her previous births had never been anything terribly remarkable of course, but still, it was nice. And more breeding meant more opportunities to lay a breeder, or at least train to be able to.
. . .
After a few days of rest and recovery, and being doted on by Diyahux, Kaiz was given the all clear to head home. Before she left for her ship, she stopped by the breeder's quarters one last time.
Diyahux answered the door and smiled down at her. "Oh, Kaiz, dear! Heading home?"
"Yes, ma'am. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to breed with you, I look forward to our next breeding cycle." Kaiz bowed.
Diyahux put a hand under Kaiz's chin and lifted her out of the bow before planting a kiss on her forehead. "And it was a pleasure to have you as a layer. But please drop the formalities. We'll be seeing far too much of each other for that," she said.
"If you insist, ma- um, Diyahux." Kaiz gave a nod and started back down the hall. Diyahux waved and Kaiz waved back before turning the corner to leave the facility.
She was excited for the next time she'd be called for the breeding program.

So, guess I am back. Hi?
Feel like some explaining is in order. Or venting, whatever you wanna call it. Just want to get this off my chest.
Recently got in a chat with another fan about spesifically the scene where Katniss is daydreaming about Peetas child in CF. And how, Katniss does not in fact see herself as this childs mother. This fan actually DID change my mind. Thier idea was reasonable and def supported by canon. They were also polite so, they aren't the issue here not even a little bit.
It, ended up changeing how I read...just about everything relating to the epilouge. For the worst. Without some kind of notion of Katniss at least...having some desire to want children even if she can't it makes the way I see her having her kids so much less joyful or exciting.
DO NOT hear what I didn't say: No, I do not think Katniss was forced into anything in the least bit, nor did she in any way not want kids in my mind. It just feels...off, and less happy if this is the case. If there isn't any indication she might have wanted this if things were different shown in an explictly postivie light.
It just. Makes any of these really happy thoughts or ideas I have around it not supported by anything in canon. There is really nothing to support how happy and excited I (used to) see Katniss be as a mom.
So yea. That hasn't been the funnest.
What this means? I don't know. For now it looks like me cringing at my old posts and fanfics, and not being nervous and unsure if I should do any more at all around this subject.

I subscribe to the newsletter of an author I like who wrote a book about 9/11 and the War on Terror and the security state in the US and how it led to the election of Trump, and it's all very serious but apparently the author is writing an Iron Man comics series. I don't read the comics, and a lot of what I know about them comes from your fic, so I'm honestly not sure how much fanon vs canon knowledge I have. 😂 But the series sounds like it might be interesting I think? The author talked about it in his newsletter today. (This link should work. Probably.)
https://www.forever-wars.com/iron-man-how-to-blow-up-a-pipeline-succession/
I am actually really excited about this run! I try not to get excited about new Iron Man runs because chances are high that my hopes and dreams will be crushed, and I know that just because someone writes, say, stunningly excellent non-fiction, it is not a guarantee that they will be great at writing fiction at all or superhero comics specifically (cf. Ta-Nehisi Coates on Cap), but judging by everything Spencer Ackerman's been saying in interviews, his run sounds like it's going to explore a lot of interesting themes.
The post you linked links to an AIPT podcast that he was on a few days ago to talk about his new Iron Man run. For those of you who don't listen to podcasts (this is also me), the Iron Man subreddit has what seems like a fairly comprehensive summary of the interview, and I am really looking forward to the run. Issue #1 apparently hits stores on October 23.
But I will tell you why I am actually now really excited about this run. It's not relevant to anything about the comic itself. I am nonetheless very excited.
Last month, after he was announced as the new Iron Man writer, in order to hype up his run, he posted an offer on his blog: if you add the run to your pull list, and you email him proof that you're pulling his run and include a snail-mail address, he will mail you some cool Iron Man stickers.
I eventually got around to doing this last week. I was assuming he didn't actually pay attention to any of these emails so I dashed off a couple sentences about how I was looking forward to his take on Tony because he'd posted a photo of the Iron Man comics he was reading for research and several of them were among my favorites. And then I went off to get bagels.
By the time I had come back with bagels, twenty minutes later, he'd written me a very nice reply substantively engaging with the content of my extremely off-the-cuff message -- geez, if I'd known he was going to be actually reading them I would have put a lot more thought into it, you know? It was very kind and I was not expecting it.
He spelled my first name wrong in the reply, despite it being in the email header and also the name I had signed the email with.
This happens to me a lot. I have a first name that is very common in a lot of languages, but none of those languages are English. I'd say there's a 50-50 chance that a native English speaker will spell or pronounce my name wrong. This is unfortunate, because I live in the US and mostly interact with native English speakers. (My wife @lysimache immediately knew how to pronounce my name. I mean, it wasn't why I married her or anything, but I feel like it was a big plus on a personal level.)
If I have to give my name for something, I will reflexively spell it. The second-to-last time I voted, they'd switched voter lookup to you giving them your name rather than you giving your street address, which was a surprise that filled me with dread. My wife was in line ahead of me and she was completely finished voting by the time the poll workers had finished correctly spelling my name. (The last time I voted, I just handed them my ID, which is not required in my state, but I really wanted this to go faster.) I went to the doctor last week, and when they called my name in the waiting room, they said it wrong. I corrected them. They said it differently wrong a couple minutes later. I corrected them again. They said it wrong again. At that point I gave up.
(If I could think of a name I liked better that I was absolutely sure that most people could spell and pronounce, I would change my name. I still have not found one.)
So, you know, I'm used to it. It happens. Frequently. I was not at all surprised that he spelled it wrong.
He then emailed me again to apologize for spelling my name wrong. Like, immediately. One minute later. He said he was sorry and he knew a lot of people with a similar name.
Dude. Nobody does that. Nobody actually apologizes. Especially not in an email to a rando like me. He did not need to do that. At all. I was not expecting him to do that. He did that. I was honestly touched. No one bothers to do that. But he did.
I got my stickers in the mail yesterday.
Tumblr media
I have redacted the portion of the note that has my name in it, but he absolutely spelled my name correctly.
Mr. Ackerman, sir, I hope your comic sells a million copies.

A large part of the Buffy fandom loves to cast Giles in the role of the Scoobies' collective Dad (and, for reasons that continually escape me, to cast Jenny Calendar as the Scoobies' collective Mom) but if you actually watch the show I think it's pretty clear that's not what's going on.
Yes, Buffy herself does increasingly view Giles as a substitute father figure (especially as her own father becomes less and less involved in her life).  But while Giles does very quickly come to view Buffy as somebody whose safety and personal happiness he is responsible for and as somebody he is willing to break the rules to protect – as something like a surrogate daughter, in other words – he is, equally and just as importantly, utterly convinced he would be a terrible parent. (For example, see his preference to offer himself instead as, as he puts it, "some sort of rakish uncle" in Season 6’s Life Serial when Buffy suggests that seeing him again is “a little bit like having Mom back”.)
As a result of that conviction, Giles insists on maintaining an emotional distance that means that Buffy herself becomes convinced he doesn't want that sort of role in her life at all (see, for example, his refusal to accompany Buffy to the ice skating show in her father’s place in Season 3’s Helpless; his reluctance throughout Season 2 to let her into his home or to tell her about his personal life). The irony of course being that Giles does eventually take on the very role of Buffy's "shiftless absentee father" he didn't want to have in the first place: he hurts her by being a poor father figure precisely because he thought he would hurt her if he actually tried to be a father.
On the other hand, Willow doesn't view Giles as a father figure at all -- the show brings up several times the idea that Willow initially has something of a crush on Giles (most notably in Season 4’s Where The Wild Things Are, when she says as much outright, but it’s also strongly implied, for instance, in Season 3’s Faith, Hope & Trick, where Willow seems to agree with Faith’s description of Giles as “young and cute”) -- and likewise although Giles is clearly fond of Willow he is fond of her in the role of a favorite student who needs to be reminded not to overwork herself (or, in Season 6, as a former student who has made some regrettable decisions as a result of not listening to his advice).  Willow is not his daughter, but rather she is his daughter Buffy's smart, hardworking friend who he thinks is a good influence on her.  (Willow, let’s not forget, actually does have a father who seems to be fairly present in her life: he’s just not ever present on screen, because this isn’t Willow’s story.)
By contrast, Xander does clearly view Giles as some sort of idealized father figure.  Even in the early years of the show he empathizes with Giles in a way none of the others do (cf. his reaction to Jenny's murder: "poor Giles"); he wants to make Giles laugh, he confides secrets in Giles he doesn’t tell any of his female friends.  The more we see of Xander’s own home life the clearer the reason for this becomes: Xander’s biological father is awful.  But this relationship is entirely one-sided and unvoiced – Giles would be very confused (and appalled) if he realized Xander felt that way about him.  To Giles, Xander is Buffy’s silly and unreliable friend: the bad influence to Willow’s good influence.  This is the context in which he agrees with Xander that Willow is “much, much better” than him.  However much Xander might want it, Giles just doesn’t consider him as some sort of adopted son.  He only associates with him at all because he is compelled to do so.
(I don’t know if it’s a deliberate writing decision that the Oxford-educated and generally fairly posh-seeming Giles has a largely positive and supportive relationship with middle-class teenagers like Buffy and Willow and a much frostier and arms’-length one with the far more working class coded Xander and Faith, but it’s certainly hard not to notice.)
Faith, on that note, doesn’t really have a relationship with Giles at all, something that she’s pretty openly bitter about (“You get the Watcher, you get the Mom … what do I get?” she asks Buffy in Season 3’s Enemies; you don’t need to think very hard to guess what word might replace ‘Watcher’ and parallel ‘Mom’ here).  Yes, later on the Angel spin-off will try to retcon Wesley as “Faith’s Watcher”, but in the context of her initial appearance on the show it is clearly Giles who plays the role of the Watcher Faith wishes she had (recall that, when he first arrives, Wesley is meant to be Buffy’s new Watcher).  But, in contrast to Xander, who wants a connection with Giles specifically, it’s a much more abstract kind of longing we’re dealing with here –  we see repeatedly in Season 3 how desperate Faith is for any sort of parental figure, from Gwendolyn Post to the Mayor, and that’s what she’s angry about not having here.
Rupert Giles himself as a person isn’t somebody Faith has any strong feelings about (“Giles is okay”, Faith tells Mrs Post in Revelations, which is the closest she comes to having any opinion on him).  For his part, and despite his promise to “look after” Faith at the start of this season, Giles has exactly the relationship with her that, one suspects, all Watchers are encouraged to have with their Slayer.  He gives her orders (implicitly he’s still doing this as late as Doppelgangland) and he expects her to report to him for training, but if – as in Helpless – she doesn’t show up, he doesn’t have any other use for her.  What she does with her life outside of killing monsters is not something we ever see Giles care about at all.
As for the other younger Scoobies … well
Anya is often treated as though she were a child, but she’s actually over a thousand years old and doesn’t have any sort of father issues at all, as far as we can tell.  She certainly doesn’t seem to ever view Giles as a father.  He’s sometimes a rival (“I know way more about demon dimensions than Giles does”), or an employer (“If it wasn't for me, Giles would be a terrified old man staring at a quarterly tax statement and wetting himself”), or an equal (“silent overseas partner”). But I don’t see any evidence of him being a substitute parent.
Tara doesn't even consider herself to be a Scooby for most of her time on the show; obviously her biological father is a monster but she first meets Giles as an adult and I just don’t think she ever has that sort of relationship with him (she’s still calling him “Mr Giles” at late as the middle of Season 5).
If Oz knew that Giles was a fellow guitarist – possibly even a guitar player who could teach him to play the dreaded Eb diminished ninth chord – he might have a more complex relationship with him.  I don’t think he ever does learn this, though, so I’m pretty sure Giles is only ever just “that librarian Willow likes” as far as Oz is concerned.
We know, per Real Me, that Dawn doesn’t think Giles likes her.  Given Dawn’s role as a part of Buffy, and what we know about Giles’ relationship to Buffy, I think that checks out; Dawn is the part of Buffy who Giles refuses to get close to because he thinks he has to be willing to sacrifice her to save the world; the part of Buffy who assumes her Watcher is reluctant to think about her inevitable death because the topic is too “unseemly”.
If you asked Cordelia to describe her relationship with Giles, and she didn’t have anything better to do or somebody more popular to talk to, she would – speaking slowly, as if talking to an idiot – explain that Giles is her school librarian, and that the library is the place the school keep all the books students might need to read.
