the smell of weed is strong enough to take over the small studio space, it slightly crowded with the amount of people in the room. a few producers sit in their chairs, altering the sound board controls every and now and then, a heavy bass booming through the system.

behind the door and in the booth is seungcheol, or s.coups (his stage name), spitting fire into the mic as he records the final tracks for an upcoming, anticipated mixtape. he had a pretty decent following after posting some songs on soundcloud for the fun of it, and it continued to grow when he released his first mixtape a few months ago. now pretty much everyone knew his name and it wouldn’t be long before he caught the attention of a mainstream, viral artist.

as he says his last words, the volume goes down and a voice fills the booth, “yeah man, that was great as fuck!” seungcheol smiles as he puts up his headphones and exits the room, dapping up all the producers to thank them for their hard work.

“this mixtape is gonna be so fire, cheol, you’re really out there now!”

“yeah, soon you’re not even gonna need us anymore, working with all those big time producers,” someone chimes in and seungcheol immediately frowns.

“hey man, don’t even say that. you guys were the first people to give me a chance, i’m never gonna forget my brothers,” he nudges them in their shoulder, and they respond by rolling their eyes.

“well that was the last track we had to do for today, what are you guys’s plans for tonight?” someone asks, but before he can even answer, seungcheol hears his phone ring with a text message alert.

princess: hey cheollie, just making sure you’re still on for tonight at illusion! i have a vip room ready and waiting just for you baby ❤️

cheol then points to you, thanking the gods that you didn’t disappear from his line of sight. cash now lined your pole’s platform as your hips rolled to the beat, and then dropped down into a surprise split, patrons tossing even more bills at you.

“who’s she? she’s so fucking sexy,” he sighs sweetly, wanting to leave the table and everyone else just to have even a moment with you.

“oh, that’s sage - she’s one of our main dancers. if you wanna see her dance for you though, you better ask fast. there’s a reason why she’s so popular,” she says as she walks away carrying the empty tray under her arms.

without a second thought, he gets up from the table and goes down the stairs, his friends groaning in disappointment that seungcheol was leaving them. “this is all for you and you’re leaving the fun?” someone calls out behind him.

“i’ll be back in a bit!” he waved his hand, motioning to shoo them away. “there’s something i wanna do first.” with his friends out of the way, now he could focus on what he really wanted - you.

little did the both of you know that you would meeting sooner than you thought. you needed to make your way to the dressing room to grab something, but you got so caught up in your drive that you didn’t even notice another body heading directly towards you. you and cheol then accidentally bump into each other, and luckily you’re able to regain your balance in your heels just in time.

“whoa, i’m so sorry, i didn’t see you ther-” seungcheol freezes mid-sentence when he realizes it was you he bumped into. “holy shit,” he thought to himself. you looked gorgeous from afar, but right in front of him? it was taking everything in him not to have his hard-on show.

Synopsis: One where Harry asks his girlfriend a very serious question.

Being able to feel like home was something Harry was in search of. No doubt London will always be home. But it's just a place. The house he lived in London started to feel more like a house than a home when the world was shut down due to the pandemic. Like the walls of his massive house wanted to cave in on him when he's there alone.

But eventually everything started to get back on track. That's when he met his darling.

He was in London to film My Policeman. He'd met her at a cafe in the town where he lived. Starting off as acquaintance, they became really good friends. He got to know she is a professor teaching finance to UG and PG students at the London Business School. She's extremely smart with a masters in her name and now a PhD on it's way. She had accomplished so much just of 22.

She lived alone in London with her cat, Dorothea. A big and hardcore fan of one of his Ex which Harry found adorable that she even named her cat after a song. Her little studio flat near her University which was a new home for Harry for most of the time he was there. Though he slept over, he liked to hang out with her there. Dorothea was pretty welcoming of him as well. Plus YN made some amazing food!

They shared so much things in common, both of them liked going on morning runs, drink black coffee, obsessed — though it would be an understatement — with The Notebook, read books. Though she read memoirs by Business personalities for her classes, and he liked to read novels and novellas. Romantic novels to be exact, especially since he have met her.

For the longest (by longest means till just weeks before he had to leave for Italy) Harry had gotten the courage to ask her on a date and confess his budding crush on her.

It seemed that everything was going too fast when both of them decided to make things official and exclusive.

Well, Harry wanted her know that everything he had with her was just for her, for as long as they're together. He'd fallen in love with her the moment he talked to her at that cafe. But it was on a facetime call that YN had accidentally slipped an I Love You for the first time. Harry was over the moon to hear that.

The long distance till the month of November was the hardest part. Especially because Harry was dreading to say those three words to her in person and hug her and cuddle her and kiss her till his heart feels full. But due to their schedules it was a little hard.

But they spent Christmas and New Years in London when he was back home. That's when YN met his family for the first time in person. Just a quiet dinner at his mum's house with a bunch of Christmas movies. Many childhood embarrassing stories were shared to YN by Anne and Gemma about the boy. The childhood album was taken out on New Year's Eve.

They celebrated both of their birthdays at her flat. And mostly stayed there.

The space was small, intimate. Just enough for two people and a cat. Home which Harry never wanted to leave. YN was his home that he never wanted to leave.

And of course, Dorothea who loved him dearly too.

They have talked about their future together, like every other couple did. But it seemed so legit with YN. Like it wasn't a fever dream that's going to break once he wakes up his slumber when he doesn't remember falling asleep.

He's had everything figured out. Proposing to her after his tour ends this year. And they've talked about getting married for sure.

The month of April, Harry was going to perform at Coachella. And he'd somehow convinced his girlfriend to go with him. He'd rented a whole Airbnb for just two of them, with a beach view and their own swimming pool. Also they've got their thrid anniversary coming up during the second week of Coachella.

A sunny day in LA, a nice day to camp out for a picnic at their backyard. With coffee and bunch of summery fruits. Rehearsals for Coachella were exhausting that he was lied back, relaxing whilst his girlfriend painted his nails (he offered to paint hers but she doesn't like nail polish).

"You're going to mess up your nails," she pointed out.

"I won't," he moved to make more space for her on the picnic rug. She lied on her tummy next to him resting her head on his chest.

"Are you coming home after the festival?" She asked.

"Yeah, since we can't go on vacation now." He said, "we can go during your year end break, how does that sound?"

Yeah she earned more than enough to survive but it was going to take a huge toll on her bank account, plus she still needed to pay for tuitions as she's in midst of getting her Doctorate. Even this festival thing, even though her boyfriend have gotten her free passes she still have to pay for her own things. She'll have to start saving up for this upcoming vacation to wherever from the exact moment.

"Don't you have anywhere to go on your bucket list? We can go there." He suggested.

"I haven't thought about it yet," YN said. Pushing his hair out of his forehead. "London was definitely one of the places now I can't remember the rest."

"You wanted to go roam around the streets of Istanbul in hopes of seeing that actor you gush over." He teased her.

It was a huge thing when they both first met. YN would make him watch these Turkish series and movies with her with her favourite actor, fangirling over every little thing that actor did. Along with Succession, she made him watch that too. And yeah not to forget her favourite Bollywood movies.

"Urgh! If we do, I'll be passing away in peace!" She isn't going to let him get to her this time.

"Don't do that, because I need ny girlfriend with me." He pouted.

"Why are you jealous?" She cooed with her cheeky smirk.

"I'll go walk around on the streets of Mumbai in hopes of bumping into Deepika Padukone." He huffed.

"Oh please, she's so darn gorgeous, tell her that I'm a huge fan." She started fangirling.

"I can never win," he sighed shaking his head in defeat.

"Do you want to at To Be So Lonely on your setlist?" She asked. "'Cause miss the shape of your lips, you'll win, it's just a trick. This is so I'm so not sorry for simping over Deepika Padukone." She sang his song.

"God, I'm never teasing you again now!" He chuckled.

She laughed, "I love you."

"I love you more." He reciprocated.

He loved when his girlfriend wore his clothes. Currently she's wearing his yellow shirt with big white flowers on it, the one he wore in Watermelon Sugar and a pair of loose Nike shorts. She lied down next to him on her back properly as it was would not hurt her back for next two weeks. Though they were in the shade of a tree sun was still getting into her eyes, to block that Harry propped himself up on his elbow next to her. He's got sunscreen on.

"Oh did I tell you about this incident..." And she started ranting about this thing happening at Uni which got slightly in trouble. Walking in on students engaging into sexual activities is something which is not allowed on campus property. Every classroom has got cameras, even the ones which were not often used. YN did settled with the students who begged her to not report them. But she was called in by the principal and she had to tell the truth to keep her job, those students were left on a strict warning and it was all good. That happened right before YN had to get to her's, drop her cat at her friends for two weeks and then head over to Harry's. It was a chaos. Harry carefully listened to her each other, what else he have to do? And what else was better he'd do instead of listening to his pretty girlfriend rant?

When they were staying at hers, he'd listen to her share random and weird and sometimes bizzare stories which happened over her teaching career. Some very gossipy, some very sad, and very funny. He'd have at least one story to hear before they drift off to sleep every night.

"That's what got you late?" He asked.

"Mhmm," she nodded, "now I know why professors show no mercy!"

"Have you been in those kinda situation?"

"Oh hell to the no bro," she exhaled a dramatic puff of air, "the most I've gotten in trouble for at school or college was that I never, I mean never submitted my projects and assignments on time."

"You're smart one, wasn't expecting that from you for sure." He commented.

"I used to procrastinate a lot," she smiled sheepishly. "I dunno I passed even my first semester."

"I never turned in my assignments on time too," he shared, "I still passed highschool though."

"You're Harry Styles!" She rolled her eyes, "of course there isn't a thing you're bad at."

"You're really gonna give me an ego, darling." He chuckled. "Have I told you that you look extra pretty today?"

It was their own way of communicating. People always thought they're being super mean and rude to each other when in reality both of them are nust joking and very well known where their personal boundaries are.

"I love you!" She laughed, pressing a gentle kiss on his mouth.

Taking the advantage of his position, Harry didn't let pull away. He deserves more kisses. Period.

As on autopilot, his hand went up to cup her jaw. Pad of his thumb drawing soothing circles on apple of her cheek. YN rested her head back, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You remember how we always talk about getting married and having kids?" He asked.

"Mhmm," she nodded again.

"Well, let's keep the kids thing out just for now." He cleared his throat to buy himself sometime, "what you still think about us getting married?"

"I still want us to get married," she said. "Why wouldn't I?"

"I just wanted to ask again." He could feel his skin warming up, but not due to sun, "if I were to ask you to marry me, would you say yes? I, I know it's a huge commitment. I understand if you don't feel ready yet."

"Of course I would definitely say yes," she gave her honest answer, "if I can remember I was the one who brought up the topic the first time around. We later joked about it but I was very serious."

"Were you?"

"Yeah!" She was pretty nervous now as to why he was asking this all of sudden. "Do you not want to?"

"Of course I do baby. Just wanted to ask," he cooed softly caressing her worried face, "at least want to ask your brothers for their blessings and respect your culture. "I don't know why I thought you were going to break up with me. But yeah, I want marry you." She laughed sheepishly when her vision blurred out due to tears pooling up in her eyes.

"I didn't mean to make you cry, I'm sorry." He cooed again.

"I'm not," she defended, "I'm not, I promise."

"Haven't got a ring yet but you'll get it soon." He warned her.

"I don't want it. I'm already saying yes," she pouted.

"But you deserve one." He defended with a kiss on her pouty lips. "I love you so much!" And he peppered her face with sloppy kisses.

"I love you so much too!" She squirmed under him feeling ticklish. "Harry?"

"Hmm?"

"You said you wanted to keep having kids out for now, don't you want that now?" She asked.

"I do, but not anytime soon. I don't feel emotionally and mentally ready for a life long commitment to a child, sorry I couldn't communicate that properly." He explained, "but yeah, I do wanna have kids. With you."

YN's always been open about important it that she wants kids of her own, biological or adopted. Harry knew that must have gotten her a little worried.

"It's okay." She shrugged, "we can always get more cats."

"That's always an option, yes." He couldn't help but agree. "Are you still going to that concert on Monday?" He asked as it seemed she's got nothing else to talk about. He loved to hear her talk his ears off.

"I don't know, my friend got me passes. I just don't wanna go alone." She said.

One of her friend works with her favourite band now, she had surprised YN with the passes to their concert in LA on her birthday. Her friend was certain that Harry's going to drag her to LA with him.

"I can go with you," he suggested.

"Then people are gonna know." She pointed out.

"I'm not going to miss out spending time with my girl 'cause of that." He told her. And oh that pet name gave her real butterflies, "and we're just going to a concert."

"Are you sure?" She seemed scared of something.

"Yeah," scooted closer to her, "what's wrong?"

"I don't know," she avoided looking directly at him or she would start crying. "You know people knowing just scares me. Especially the media stuff."

"You don't have to worry about that my love, the best we can do is ignore all of that." He told her. "Hey look at me?" With his hand rested on her cheek he made her look at him, "we don't have to worry about what so far in the future, okay?"

"Yeah, but like almost all of my students are like hardcore fans of you. It just gives me anxiety to even think about that." YN shared, her voice shakh as she tried to hold back her tears.

She have seen the things being said to his ex-lovers. Afterall she listened to him as well, she wasn't just that dedicated of a fan. It scares her to go through the same thing when she's totally unaware of media and online harrasment which comes with being in entertainment industry.

For other reason being her family. She doesn't have the closest and nicest relation with her family. Except for her two elder brothers. She hated to be part of that family, especially because of her step mother who fit into every typical and cliché category of evil step mothers. Her own mum wasn't a saint per se. That was the only reason for her to move to a completely different continent and cut ties with them. Or else she would be living a very luxurious life at her millionaire dad's house and work at a very higher and nicer paying job role at his company.

She didn't wanted her step mother to know or she'll get to witchery shit and get to ruining her life even more. Plus Harry's fans were crazy and she's constantly surrounded by them at her job. But that was the least she was worried about, because her students wouldn't do be brave enough to say anything to her as all their grades for her subject in her hands. They'd be too scared to say a thing.

The thing is, Harry is yet to meet her brothers (who are actually nice to their only baby sister). It would create a whole new whirlpool of mess before that.

"We don't have to go public then," Harry said, "anyway I love going on our secret little rendezvous, and hanging out with Dorothea."

"Okay," she nodded.

"Hey, I promise it'll be okay. I just need you trust me, okay?" He pressed a kiss on her cheek.

"Yeah," she nodded again.

"You still look worried to me baby, come on you can tell me everything you know that." Harry pressed knowing she's probably never going to talk about things bothering her.

"It's nothing, jist worried about my dad and both my mum's finding out." She said, "especially my step mother. You know she's a bitch."

"Yeah, I know that," he nodded.

"Hmm, she's going to make our lives a living hell."

"We'll deal with it when we have to," he smiled, "for now tell me what you wanna do today and what you want for dinner? It's your turn today I believe."

"Yeah, do you want to get pizza?" She asked.

"We're getting pizza," he agreed.

"Let's go for run on the beach now," she suggested already getting just to plopped back down when Harry pulled her back down. She fell flat on he ass, "ouch!"

"I'm sorry, you alright?" He didn't meant to laugh. "I'm sorry," he chuckled holding close. "I've got another thing we can do instead of going on a run?"

"I've got another thing we can do," she mocked his accent jokingly. For some reason she liked to annoy him back for teasing her all the time.

"I do not sound like that," ge gasped.

"Yes you do," she laughed.

He was going to attack her with tickles before she fled the place. Harry was quick to run after her.

"Harry stop!" She said running around the pool.

"Are you going to stop?" He put up a condition.

"No you're going to tickle me!" She tried to dodge him but Harry sped up his steps. Grabbing her he attempted to throw her in the pool but YN was smart enough to pull him down with her.

"Fuck, it's cold!" Harry shivered as he came up on the surface following his girlfriend who was holding onto him tight as she doesn't know how to swim.

"Can you believe it, we don't have a Jacuzzi!" She said making him laugh.

"You're not funny," he joked. He wondered how her brain is weirdly wired that she get out random references to every situation.

"Hmm I can see, now get us out of here." She demanded.

"You can get down, it's not rhat deep." He told her as he was stood there in neck deep water with his feet touching the floor of the pool.

"Dude you're six feet tall! I'm barely five-six and I can't swim," she clung to him as he tried to put her down. He wouldn't let go of her his love like that, he was just joking.

"There's enough room for you, I won't let you drown baby." He started making his way out of the pool.

They spent their weekend and next week being lowkey, at their Airbnb. Just leaving the house as Harry surprised her by taking her to the Warner Bros studio on their anniversary. And it was her first time in LA, she have to go to all these places. He had assigned that job to himself.

As for YN, she was keeping an eye on her very unpredictable boyfriend who can pop the question again with an actual ring next time. But she also made sure to have fun with him.

Harry seemed to not care about anything with people knowing now. He can't stop living his life just for that reason. He's a human at the end of the day. He's going to be very unapologetic for being himself and living his life.

[ SUGAR ] A local vendor has set up a stall to sell novelty sugar sculptures. 

“Look! They got a booth where ya can make ‘em yourself!” Ruggie exclaims, primarily to himself. He’s standing ironically by Trey, squinting further down Main Street. The smell of sugar fills his senses, making his stomach rumble. “Whadd’ya think’ll require more sugar? A hu~uge sculpture or a smaller ‘n thicker one?”

TREY’S BEEN STANDING THERE FOR A GOOD WHILE; time to kill before his stamp rally shift means that there’s ample time to simply stroll and take in the wares set up for celebration. It’s nostalgic, stalls set up reminiscent of his neighborhood’s Halloween efforts, autumn carnivals and “haunted” attractions, sugar practically thicker in the crisp air than any hint of fright. It’s no surprise this booth caught his eye: it takes a careful hand—an infinitely patient one, too—to craft something on the level of the craftsmen running the booth. Trey’s father (the more practiced hand at decoration) has dabbled in something similar, but always for decoration. Embellishment. Something extra, but still abstract.

Sculptures, and the fine degree of skill needed to make some of the smaller examples they have for sale—man. Trey feels humbled, just a little, watching, losing track of time and entranced as the one not at the front of shop gets to work on a larger one. It will, at some point, be a black cat curled inside a sugary pumpkin patch. Trey’s watched the curves of the feline be built up, the tail in one elegant swoop, the legs and ears with another.

And then the blowtorch comes out, and Trey’s eyes admittedly get a little wider, if anyone cares to pay attention—he loves using a torch (and he’s the only child allowed to touch it) but it’s rarely ever needed.

To be honest, it takes a minute to snap out of his trance, catching the fact that a classmate’s sauntered over with equal glee.

Trey follows Ruggie’s gaze to the other half of the booth, the smaller scale much better for a hands-on demonstration. Trey doesn’t want to look at the time on his phone. He fishes it out of the pockets sewn into his costume robe, just in case.

—Nah, he has time. Well, he’ll make the time and make up the difference later.

“Two cups will give you enough to make mistakes, give or take.” No hesitation in Trey’s estimation as he crosses his arms. Ruggie’s enthusiasm may be suspect, but he can’t pretend like the appeal isn’t there, especially in some of the smaller examples frustrated customers can buy for their efforts. Miniature dogs, birds, even a horse with wispy sugar legs. It would taste like eating a spoonful of sugar—but it goes down easy, and what is Halloween if not the perfect time for it? “If you’re going for something on a reasonable scale, that is. It’s harder than it looks to even make something in a mold, much less something bigger than your head. But, hey, if they’ll allow it.”

—Just in case, Trey’s got no qualms with putting a firm hand on Ruggie’s shoulder. “If. I’m sure they’d prefer a hand breaking down tonight rather than a student underfoot, if you’re that eager. Most everything they make will end up in the trash, sad to say.”

Besides: they’re clearly Night Raven students, and he’s not willing to be barred from this booth by association.

Freebooters Solo AP 1 - Arsi the Thief Leaves for Gooluna

I was inspired by a Solo AP done at Lumbering Elephant using Jason Lutes' Freebooters on the Frontier. I also used Perilous Wilds and the Mythic Game Master Emulator for other random generation. It's been awhile since I have played any PbtA games so it's time to make a thief and dive right in. Note: This uses the second edition playtest.

After leaving his home in the north, Paja, Arsi traveled to Gooluna, the "land of the golden road" to seek his fortune. 

Let’s back up a minute, why did he leave his home?

Well, Arsi is good, not to mention hopeful and persistent. That’s bound to get him in to trouble. He used his… ahem… particular skills to free his brother, Manu, who was wrongfully imprisoned by a Jarl. Things went pear-shaped after that.

What happened?

Well, I think that Arsi had this idea that he could set things right if he kept at it. Kind of like the truth would set his brother free. But, that didn’t turn out to be the case. Jarls are like that. Arsi currently has a low Charisma score, stubby fingers, and never smiles, so when he confronted the Jarl after freeing his brother, Arsi was captured. He lost a few tips of those already stubby fingers and was exiled for his insolence.

Wow. Are you sure you want Arsi to be good?

Yeah. He’s definitely a bit jaded now. His plans are more realistic than “taking on the whole ancient power structure of his home region.” Besides, it wasn’t all bad. Since thieves start with double the average coin, I bet Arsi pilfered a nice bag of silver from the Jarl the night he left. You know, just compensation for pain, suffering, the tips of his fingers, that sort of thing. The Jarl probably won’t even notice that the silver is missing.

Sounds great. I am sure that won’t come back to haunt you. Roll Purloin.

Gulp. Ok. I got an 8 plus a DEX of 0. So 8.

You got the silver and got out of your town, no problem. But you know that your pilfering was sloppy, the Jarl’s treasure chest was too well guarded for a proper theft. You took what you could, but you know anyone but a fool would notice the coins were missing after you left. Looking through the bag, and realize that your 34 coins are all stamped with the visage of the Jarl.

Damn. Well if I get far enough south, I want to spend that money as quick as possible. You can’t spend it when you’re dead.

Not a problem. There is a small town 3 days journey from Paja, a small backwater named Torni. The town itself is built around the base of an ancient tower. The tower is gone now, succumbed to time and the town’s need for free building materials. It’s got a few shops that will sell you anything that isn’t rare. The people seem friendly enough. On first glance, there isn’t any indication that anyone here is looking for you.

Great. I want to buy a longbow, arrows, some rations, and, since I am wearing rags, some common clothes. Ug. Not enough cash to upgrade my club or knife. I throw the coins at the shopkeeper, grab the gear, and bolt. I want to get out of town as fast as possible. Gooluna, here I come!

Done. You take the road to the south. The tiny road leads you through large swaths of wet, verdant forest. It is the height of spring, just past the cross-quarter day between the equinox and the solstice. All the plants are leafing out and struggling to capture what light they find. If you were home right now, you would be dancing and feasting in the streets in celebration of the end of planting. But you’re not. You are here among the wet, the green, and the mud. The fresh dew of the morning and maybe a nighttime shower has left everything soaked. You see no one along the route to Gooluna for a few days, until you are walking along the during your fifth morning on the trail and you hear hoofbeats coming up behind you.

I dash into the foliage. I want to remain out of sight while being quiet and still. So I spend my only point of cunning for that.

The two horsemen come into view. It’s as you expected. The two riders, a man and a woman, look like they are from up north; both are wearing furs and helmets. Even though their furs are matted and soaked, you can tell they are the probably from the Jarl. Each carries a spear and a sheathed sword buckled to their belt. The horses slow as they get closer. You are sure they can’t see you, but you have a bad feeling about this.

I keep my shit together. I don’t move. I am a tree.

The man points to the ground, and both dismount. They must be tracking your footprints in the mud. The woman stays on the road, but the man, heads toward your hiding location, following your muddy footprints. You have a few seconds before the warrior gets close enough to find you.

Welp. That’s it. I take my club and swing it at the warriors head at soon as he’s close enough.

The warrior isn’t aware of your presence. Roll Backstab.

3 plus DEX of 0 so 3. I at least get to roll damage first with a Backstab. I rolled a 6.

You used to think that your club was a really nice one and it may have been, but it’s nothing to a steel helmet. You swing with all your might and you clip the poor warrior on the side of the head, just above the cheek. There is a satisfying crack as your club spits down the middle. The warrior falls to the ground, twitching. You vaguely recognize the face of the warrior as he falls, but you don’t have time to search your memories as the warrior on the trail is now very aware of your existence. She throws her spear in your direction. Assuming you want it to miss, a saving throw + DEX.

10! She misses!

The spear thuds into a tree next to your head. If you had been any slower you’d be dead. The she pulls out her sword, and charges in your direction. What do you do?

I need a weapon. How’s the sword on the downed warrior look?

It was never pulled. It’s in a scabbard on the muddy ground. You could get it, but it would probably give the warrior a chance to swing at you.

Not worth it. I pull my knife and try to kill her before she kills me. YEEAAARG!

Ok. Roll Fight!

8 plus STR of 0 is 8. My knife does 1 damage on the warrior.

You slash the warrior right across the stomach, but you can tell the wound isn’t very deep. She stabs with her jagged sword and it easily slides it in to your leg for 3 points of damage. You can see bright red blood flowing from her stomach, but more is coming from your leg. You are getting dizzy and may not survive another blow. The extra foot of length her sword has on your knife isn’t helping.

Fuck… I… um… trapped like a rat. Well, here goes nothing. I know I need to strike hard, so I aim for her neck and lunge. More fighting. Crap. I rolled snake eyes.

You’re just some thief, and she is a trained warrior. She sees your lunge coming a mile away. She dodges out of the way of your strike with a quick side step, and you feel the blade of a sword plunge in to your back for 4 damage. The world fades into darkness. Maybe the gods will save you. Roll Get Lucky.

Beh. 6.

Not today, then. You find yourself standing before the Black Gates and Death motions your forward...

Well that didn't end well for Arsi. But we still have a traveler left on the road to Gooluna. I wonder what dire straits the death of the warrior's companion has put her in...

Article: Pre-Trip to Alton Towers: Scarefest 2017

All thanks to my Nan & Grandad; this year for the first time in 4 years, I’m going to Alton Towers’ Annual Celebration of Hallowe’en called Scarefest! This will be my second time attending Scarefest and now I’m a lot older – I (hopefully) won’t chicken-out at the Scare Mazes this time! I’m really excited to go this year and as I haven’t been in a while, I’m really excited to see the new changes that Alton Towers have made to the Park, including the transformation of Air to Galactica, Cbeebies Land and the new “Unnamed” Ride which is currently only “Officially” known as SW8 (Secret Weapon 8), which is being built on-site and in replacement of The Flume that was taken down last year. When I say “Unnamed”, what I really mean is there has been some rumours within the Theme Park Community that the new Ride, that is a part of the Secret Weapon Project (SW8), is going to be called ‘Wicca Man’ (or something along that line) and which indicates it could be an IP (Intellectual Property) Ride to the 1973 Mystery Horror film ‘The Wicker Man’. There has been a build up to this ride for some time starting when The Flume was removed from the park, to quite recently where there are a lot of signs and symbols all around the Park suggesting a Pagan/Wiccan themed Ride, some people have even been translating the Symbols to ‘Be Chosen’ and ‘The Welcoming’. Alton Towers has told us that this will be another “World’s First” Ride. As Alton Towers’ SWP (Secret Weapon Project) History suggests, this will be another Rollercoaster addition to the park. And to match the theming of the new ride, the Theme Park Community have speculated that the New Rollercoaster is (or should be) a wooden Rollercoaster, I believe this theory to be true as the SW8 Construction Site (which has been worked on since late 2016) can be seen on the Resort and throughout the Park. There isn’t as much advertisement for SW8 as there was for SW7 (The Smiler). Even though The Smiler opened in 2013, The Smiler’s Logo and Conception was drip fed into Alton Towers’ Customers and the General Public since 2010/2011, where the Logo was subtlety and gradually placed all around the park (and the Hotels) in Black, Yellow & White Paint (or printed on Tickets, Brochures, Posters etc.), occasionally projected on The Towers of a Night, during Scarefest 2010-2011 actors dresses as “The Ministry Of Joy’s” Nurses and ‘Dr. Kelman’ where spotted walking in and around The Towers, customers were often told by Alton Towers Staff that ‘They’re Ghosts of the Tower’s Past. They’re completely safe as long as you don’t talk to them.’ By 2012, as well as Ride Construction in-place of where Black Hole was, advertising went into full-swing by entering the public-eye; by printing The Smiler Logo on Train & Underground Tickets, Spray Painting the Logo on Sheep and even Projecting the Logo and Black & Yellow Spirals on Big Ben & The Houses of Parliament! Alton Towers even hired around 10-20 of the NHS’s Ambulances to drive around the streets of London for the day to Promote ‘The Ministry of Joy’. Following this, Alton Towers bought an authentic 1960’s Ambulance and transformed it into an Ambulance for ‘The Sanctuary’ decorating it with Black & Yellow Swirls, Stripes and The Smiler Logo, (which is the main Theming of The Smiler) and taking it on a short Tour across the UK to do ‘Tests’ on the General Public to ‘Correct’ them and in the meantime, advertising (more like ‘planting’ ideas into people’s heads) Alton Towers, Scarefest and SW7 (as it was not yet named ‘The Smiler’). In the same year (2012), a New Scare Maze was announced for Scarefest that year and Alton Towers also announced that it was also going to be connected to SW7 (The Smiler) and with be connected to the re-theming and re-branding of X Sector and all the rides within it – giving them all a new backstory. Then in 2013, the hype for The Smiler increased in the News, (multiple) Short Videos Alton Towers release on YouTube (& their website etc.) – which in my personal taste, felt like they overkilled it as all the promotional videos etc. just became ‘too much’. Then The Smiler was finally built and from that The Sanctuary became a permanent attraction in Alton Towers for the rest of the Season, then it was only used for one last time in 2014’s Scarefest. And THAT’S The Smiler’s advertisement story… what have we heard about SW8? Nothing! Apart from a Brand New Scare Maze for this year’s Scarefest called ‘The Welcoming: Be Chosen’ (which explains why the symbols all translate to ‘The Welcoming’ or ‘Be Chosen’) which Alton Towers have released that this Scare Maze is connected to the new Ride – SW8 in ‘more than one way’, as well as 2 videos about the Secret Weapon Projects themselves released by Alton Towers on their site and YouTube (we’re currently waiting for a third, I estimate that it’ll be released nearer Scarefest or when the ride opens), which actually contains not much information about the New Ride SW8 (“Wicca Man”) apart from the repeated words (both in English and in the Symbols), ‘The Welcoming: Be Chosen’ & ‘SW8’ – which isn’t helpful at all! There’s LOADS of hype for this Coaster as it should be another “World’s First”, but as far as I’m aware, there’s not a lot you can do with Wooden Coasters..? There’s a lot of rumours and theories within the Theme Park & Alton Towers Communities of which you can find on YouTube & Social Media etc. But I’m just really looking forward to seeing the theming and backstory! Even though Th13teen isn’t the greatest of coasters (to be honest, even the vertical drop isn’t all that), it’s one of my favourite rides in the UK – all due to the theming and backstory. That’s probably my theatrical side of me coming out now mixed in with my love of Hallowe’en (see – I spelt it CORRECTLY. Reece Shearsmith would be proud). However, if you’re going to re-theme an entire Section of Theme Park for one ride – you know it’s going to be a bloody good theme! And not only did they re-theme Ug Land to Dark Forest (most imaginative name ever…), Alton Towers re-themed the entirety of Rita including the Trains themselves! Yeah, ok, it’s only a bit of paintwork, however, they didn’t do that for X Sector (i.e. re-paint Oblivion or Enterprise Black & Yellow or re-decorate the X Sector to look more like ‘The Ministry of Joy’ or and “extension” of ‘The Sanctuary’, so the whole section has a story and looks ‘all together’ rather than just ‘here’s a few rides’), which was a little bit disappointing. Going back to theming of SW8, as far as I know from various Vloggers on YouTube (e.g. ThemeParkWorldwide), SW8 is most likely going to start/have the station in Gloomy Wood (or as I like to call it “The Hallowe’en Section”) which at the moment only has two attractions – Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back (used to be known as The Haunted House), you should be able to gather that it’s an indoor dark ride – typically known as general Haunted House Ride, however, when it got updated in 2002, The Haunted House got Updated to Duel in 2003 (where it now has Laser Guns and LED Lights to shoot at, obviously, if you’re in a group, you’ll be competing for points), Gloomy Wood is also Home to Haunted Hollow a nice little “Hallowe’en-type” themed footpath from Gloomy Wood to Mutiny Bay (and vice versa), so, you can see why it is well needed to have one or two more rides and/or attractions in Gloomy Wood and a whole Pagan/Wiccan themed Rollercoaster would be great, because it then would tie-in with Duel as it’s a ‘haunted’ house after all! Plus, the Pagans practically invented Hallowe’en and Christmas, however, if Gloomy Wood gets a whole new theming i.e. Pagan/Wiccan/Hallowe’en etc. will it make it similar to Dark Forest? I don’t know… However… in saying this… SW8 is being built on top of The Flume’s old site in Mutiny Bay and is right next to the Congo River Rapids… and the new Scare Maze ‘The Welcoming: Be Chosen’ is actually located right in the middle of Mutiny Bay..? So what does this mean?! Are they going to re-theme Katanga Canyon to give it more of an Amazonian-Pagan or African-Tribal feel? Or are Alton Towers going to do what is incredibly needed and re-theme Mutiny Bay altogether? The Mystery Continues… and we shall see next Season when SW8 opens in March 2018! In all fairness, I haven’t got long till I go to Alton Towers myself in October for Scarefest and ask the Staff a load of Cheeky-Arse questions and Sarah-Jane the shit out of Alton Towers Resort. The one ‘new thing’ that Alton Towers has done within the last few years that’s REALLY annoyed me HAS to be the transformation of Air to Galactica…. SERIOUSLY! What. The. Hell. Air is one my favourite ride at Alton Towers, I love the inversions, the feel of flying, the theming, the section of the park – everything was pretty much perfect. Yes, the theming of the ride and its surroundings could’ve been updated to link in with the story of Nemesis Monster (i.e. the reason why we are just ‘suddenly’ flying) etc. That’s all they had to do with it! Or even better still – add more to the ride – because for how great the ride/experience is – I still believe it is really short. Yes, it ‘was’ the “World’s First” Flying Coaster and they didn’t know how popular or successful it was going to be, however, EVERYONE loves it and not a-lot needed to be done to it except just add another 30-45 seconds worth of track or another inversion… However… because of the incidents to do with The Smiler and a couple of other rides within the last few years (Alton Towers have had really bad luck since The Smiler was built, however, it’s too expensive, new and popular to demolish – I don’t mind the ride myself, but it’s not a ride I want to go on more than once or twice a day, plus, the queue times ARE horrendous EVEN in the Disabled and/or Single Riders Queue. I must admit – it’s probably the best rollercoaster to go on front row, there’s a lot of Zero-G air-time and it’s a lot smoother than the other rows.), Alton Towers are becoming increasingly desperate to get their repetition back up to how it was – i.e. building quite A LOT of ‘New’ stuff and having two “World First” rides in a very short space of time: The most recent ‘New’ stuff include: -Cbeebies Land (which has 16 attractions in, which is MORE than ANY OTHER SECTION in the ENTIRE Park!) & Cbeebies Land Hotel (which is the UK’s Only) -Enchanted Village & Tree-Top Quest (basically, more ‘luxury but not that luxury according to Vloggers’ accommodation and a rip-off version of Go-Ape).

The most recent “World/UK Firsts” include: -The Smiler – The World’s First 14 Looping Rollercoaster (Built in 2013 – 4 Years Ago) -Galactica – The World’s First Ride Dedicated to Virtual Reality (Built in 2002, Originally Known as Air, Re-Themed in 2016 – 1 Year Ago) -Rollercoaster Restaurant – The UK’s First (Built in 2016 – 1 Year Ago) -SW8 – The World’s First??? (Going to be Built in 2018 – in 1 Year)

Going back to Galactica, I like the idea of the ride, however, I feel like it’s the wrong themed Ride in the wrong Area of the Park. At the end of the day, Cloud Cuckoo Land is going down-hill really badly, they have 4 flat rides and one of them is out of action, Wobble World has gone, the Ice Age 4D Cinema has gone and so has Charlie & The Chocolate Factory: The Ride. There pretty much isn’t much left apart from everything being painted in UV Colours. There’s two empty buildings that Alton Towers could do so much with, and there’s so much land in that area just getting wasted, what I would have done would be to have Galactica as an indoor Rollercoaster with VR, so then money wouldn’t have been wasted on indoor theming, move & re-theme/re-name Spinball Whizzer down to Cloud Cuckoo Land and completely re-theme Cloud Cuckoo Land to a Space/Sci-Fi Area as I believe that would benefit Alton Towers. I’m really excited to experience The Rollercoaster Restaurant – I’ve heard mixed reviews about it but the entire seems intriguing and exciting, whilst other people have said that it’s not all that, but we shall see. I obviously have a neutral preference to Cbeebies Land – but it’ll be nice to see what they’ve done to Old McDonald’s Farm and other rides that have had some TLC (Towers Loving Care). Speaking of TLC, it’s going to be really nice to see the restoration of The Towers and Gardens properly! The Towers were getting so much neglect, it was becoming so shameful as they were losing the Heritage & History, and for any of the trapped Spirits left in The Towers or on/around The Gardens – they can rest in peace and not be disturbed. So this year’s Line-Up for Scarefest is: 4 Scare Mazes: Returning for its 13th Year on Park and 6th Year in its current platform – ‘The Terror of The Towers: What Lies Within’ (or TOTT: WLW), the Park’s most famous Scare Maze unveiling the backstory of The Towers’ Hauntings. In the past, the age rating has usually been a recommendation of 12+, this year, Alton Towers has updated the route and frights so this year, the age rating is a recommendation of 15+ and has won ‘Best Halloween Scare Attraction’ at Scare Con in 2009 & 2011! Returning for its 2nd Year at Alton Towers is – ‘Altonville Mine Tours: Uncover The Legend Of The Skin Snatchers’ (or AMT: UTLOTSS), a bit of a long title – even in abbreviation… however, it’s a Scare Maze with an American Mine Theme to it – oddly! However, the theming to it is apparently the best on park according to ThemeParkWorldwide at Scarefest last year, so I’m really excited! There’s supposed to be A LOT of detail in it, and that’s something that I love. According to reviews, it’s not as scary as the others (i.e. jump scares), however, it’s really sensory and sort-of interactive, which is really interesting. I have heard that it is very ‘touchy-feely’, which is odd for a Scare Maze as Actors aren’t supposed to touch you, but I’m still up for it. This Scare Maze is recommended for ages 15+ and won ‘Best Halloween Scare Attraction’ at Scare Con last year! Also returning for its 3rd Year at Scarefest – Sub Species: The End Games! Probably the most terrifying Scare Maze yet! Ummm… I’m not sure how to describe this one… here’s Alton Towers’ description on their website: “A post-apocalyptic, sewer dwelling community have been infested by a species from another world. In order to survive, they appease the creature’s hunger by sacrificing innocent people from the surface. However, over time, insanity has twisted the feeding ritual into a sick contest. Your demise is now their entertainment. This year find your way through the underground system with new routes to take but which will you choose? Let the death race begin!” Literally, you get chased with a chainsaw, crawl through a tunnel and get separated from your group by aliens! It all sounds pretty terrifying, and I’m 50/50 on doing it, not because of how scary it is, I’m just worried about becoming separated from my group and being left in a dark room on my own because I really don’t want to have a panic attack or a seizure in there, as that would be more terrifying than the Scare Maze! Let’s see how I feel on the day, eh? Again, this Scare Maze is recommended for 15+ and it won ‘Best Halloween Scare Attraction’ at Scare Con 2015. The Fourth Scare Maze for this year’s Scarefest is called ‘The Welcoming: Be Chosen’ (or TW: BC), it’s Brand New for this year and all we know is that it’s connected to SW8 ‘in more ways than one’ and the Alton Towers Description: “The woods surrounding the village of Alton harbor a mysterious group, which until recent sightings were unseen by the modern world. Whispers around the village say that the group are angered by people abusing the world’s natural resources and the rapid advance of technology. Every year the secluded group host a festival to celebrate their own interpretation of Halloween – paying homage to the earth and celebrating the crossover between the living world and the dead. The group have recently infiltrated the Alton Towers Resort and for the first time are allowing outsiders to celebrate with them. But what part will you (‘the outsiders’) play in this ritual? Is this really an initiation?” Of what I’ve seen on YouTube the theming looks cool, it’s in dead-centre of Mutiny Bay – which is rather interesting, and the description sounds utterly terrifying! And you have to pay a little bit extra to go on TW: BC, which means that it’s either only going to be at Alton Tower’s Scarefest for this year or it’s going to cost a lot to run (i.e. lots of actors, special effects etc.), I’ve also seen on YouTube that the actual Scare Maze looks HUGE! So whether the whole thing is a Scare Maze or its more interactive will be a mystery till October and the first Reviews come in! Until then, I am super excited for this Scare Maze and buzzing for SW8! There’s no news on the age limit on this attraction… which is… odd… Spooky! There’s going to be only one Scare Zone this year, instead of how they traditionally have two… which is a shame. However, the Scare Zone that they’re bring back from last year is ‘Freak Show’ (or FS). Freak Show had good reviews last year, and I really love ‘Circus’ Themed things - so I’m going to be looking forward to try it out! It’s going to be down by Spinball Whizzer and Adventure Land this year… which I think is an interesting place to put it as not many people go down there. Obviously, there’s stuff for kids too! There’s the ‘Trick or Treat’ Stage, where they have shows, fancy dress competitions, character meet & greets etc. which, I’m not too fussed about, but it’s nice to see or do when I meet up with my little cousins. There’s also a 5th Scare Maze at Alton Towers this year for Scarefest! A Family-Friendly Scare Maze for Children 8+ called ‘House of Monsters’, it’s an extra £5 per person for a 15-20 minute experience – which is really decent! It’s a Scare Maze with some fun challenges and kooky Characters all set in a Haunted House full of… you’ve guessed it – Monsters! It all seems a lot of great genuine fun and even though it’s aimed at 8+ (& young families as a general), I actually think I might enjoy this as a bit of a laugh! And for £5, it’s a quick & spooky way to pass some time as well as having some Hallowe’en fun! Plus! It had LOADS of brilliant reviews last year! The theming is great, the storyline is great (but a little hard to follow) and the actors and challenges are great! Again there’s the ‘Alton Ancestors’ a group of undead dancers who do a flashmob down Towers Street every half an hour or every hour, and slowly roam around the Park till they get to Gloomy Wood around 5 or 6 in the afternoon for their last flashmob. And the best part: RIDES IN THE DARK! Yes, you can ride in the Dark all the way till 9PM when the park closes, including the Big 6 Rollercoasters (Nemesis, Galactica/Air, Rita, Th13teen, Oblivion & The Smiler)! Do I need to say any more than that?

Hip Hop Week In Review: Drake Drops "Scorpion" & Fans Mourn XXXTENTACION

HipHopDX – This week in Hip Hop, Drake’s highly anticipated album, Scorpion, dropped on Friday (June 29). Also, XXXTENTACION’s video for “SAD!” arrived as fans mourned his death and Jamie Foxx hosted the 2018 BET Awards.

Drake Releases Scorpion

Drake’s Scorpion was released this week and broke Apple Music‘s first day streaming record with over 170 million plays. The double LP features 25 cuts that express his signature blend of rap and R&B. Fans were calling it a classic before it had even been out for an hour.

Scorpion slightly addresses his beef with Pusha T, particularly on its final track “March 14” in which Drizzy confirming the news about his infant son.

The Aftermath of XXXTENTACION’s Death

Thousands of XXXTENTACION fans swarmed his open-casket memorial in Florida. Lil Yachty‘s candlelight vigil in Atlanta also brought out many fans to show their respect for X.

Before his passing, X had plans on feeding the homeless and internet personality Yes Julz helped to see that through this week. His charity fed 1000 people.

Federal agents began their search for X’s killers this week and were one suspect, 22-year-old Dedrick D. Williams, has been arrested. His charges include first-degree murder, probation violation for theft of a motor vehicle and driving without a valid license.

A video for “SAD!” off X’s album ? also dropped this week and in it, he battles himself at his own funeral.

2018 BET Awards

Jamie Foxx handled the hosting duties at this year’s BET Awards. Although the show was performance heavy, Cardi B, Migos and Kendrick Lamar were among the winners.

During the ceremony, Snoop Dogg celebrated the 25th anniversary of Doggystyle with a performance of the album’s biggest hits. J. Cole also hit the stage to perform “Friends” with Daniel Caesar, and Meek Mill used the platform to push for prison reform by debuting his song “Stay Woke.”

Method Man Admits He Burned Bridges During Last Days At Def Jam

Method Man says his last days at Def Jam were less than amicable in an exclusive interview with DX.

“I burned a lot of fucking bridges at Def Jam,” Meth admits. “I had a lot of love for the company ’cause I came in when I was young. I had been there for so many fucking years, so when staff changed and people changed and things started to change, I didn’t know how to handle the shit.”

Benny The Butcher is getting ready to drop his debut album, Tana Talk 3, on Griselda Records and spoke about the upcoming LP with DX.

“In 2005, I dropped a mixtape called Tana Talk 2, because I already did one that was 1,” Benny explains. “So it’s like, when I put 2 out, it was couple people buzzing in the city and doing they thing. But when I put 2 out, I shocked the whole city. People still talk about that tape to this day. And it’s like, people knew what I was, what type of time I was on. I was hungry, I was killing shit. It was West[side Gunn]’s idea to name it Tana Talk 3, because like I said, he wanted to recreate that energy.”

Jahlil Beats Promises Meek Mill Has Big Radio & Street Joints Coming This Year

Jahlil Beats tells DX that he’s been in the studio with Meek Mill and says there’s lots of great music from the recently freed rapper on the way.

“As soon as he got out of jail, he reached out to me and we would be in the studio every day from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.,” he explains to DX. “He was on house arrest but they would let him go to the studio. We did this record called, ‘Make ‘Em Say,’ which made Billboard. I think it was #103. But it was out of one market, just out of Philly.”
