Absolutely enraged at how ugly Namor is here. What is with his face? His hair?
Am I asking too much that artists depict him as a drop dead gorgeous man?
The dragon looks amazing, yet Namor's face looks so bland. :/

Stupid, silly Namor or Attuma fic ideas. Don’t think too hard about these they’re just funny little ideas. Pls tag me if you write or get inspired by any of these. Like always, there are no rules:
1. The reader is labeled as the village idiot because she likes to sing with her head underwater to "sing to the mermaids". The village ridicules her for it. One day, she is swept out in a riptide, and no one is willing to come to her aid—no one from the village, that is.
2. Reader is full of bad puns and dad jokes, much to the chagrin of Namor/Attuma. "Why are seagulls called seagulls?"
“Stop now.”
“Because if they flew over bays, they'd be bagels! Oh hey, What did one wave say to the other?"
“I swear, if you make one more ocean related pun, I will murder you on this island and tell everyone you died in a shipwreck."
"...well, someone's salty."
3. You put a message in a bottle and set it out to sea in the hopes it’ll reach Namor/Attuma so you can be pen pals. “Oh my god I love you but you’re so stupid.” They say because you have no idea that’s not how mail works.
4. You’re in love with Namor/Attuma, but you’re also obsessed with monsters and cryptids so you keep asking them questions like “Is the Kraken real?? What about 6 headed hydras? Have you seen Nessie?? Are they friendly? Darling tell meeeeeee”
5. Reader does that stupid prank thing where she pretends to do a magic trick with an egg and a bottle of water. She’s like “Ok now look inside” and squeezes the bottle, spraying water in Attuma/Namor’s face and runs away cackling.
6. You introduce Namor/Attuma to a wonderful human invention - Water beds. They are less than amused. Reader, consider your sexy time privileges revoked😑
7. Attuma/Namor trying to teach reader combat and how to fight like a Talokanil but reader keeps making it sexy and Namor/Attuma is like “Ok maybe we should stop. You’re not even listening to me or learning anything properly!” And reader is like “Oh I’m learning all the right techniques perfectly. 😏😘”
8. Those videos from EVNautilus of the people in a submarine coming across a dumbo octopus and a googly eyed stubby squid but instead it’s scientist reader being shown Talokan by Attuma or Namor and fawning over the sea creatures because they’re just little guys. Sweet underwater babies. And reader being like “it’s just a baby can I adopt it pls” 🥺 and Namor or Attuma being like “pay attention. Remember why we’re here.”
9. “Your child brings home a raccoon, mistaking it for a cat and begs to keep it” trope but instead it’s Namor/Attuma and their child has brought home an anglerfish or some other hideous abomination of the sea. It’s surprisingly docile and follows the child around like a pet anyway so can we keep it??? Please father
10. Namor and Jeff the Land Shark crossover. That’s it. That’s the post. Reader wants to adopt Jeff as their child. He’s just a baby 🥺
11. Peter Pan “They were just having a bit of fun, weren’t you, girls?”
“We were only trying to drown her” Mermaid Lagoon AU
12. “General, I’ve brought the cartographer into the war meeting today. I believe you owe her an apology for ruining all her maps when you stab them to dramatically mark a location.” (What if the “cartographer” is actually Attuma’s small daughter or sister drawing doodles of maps and playing pretend/mirroring what her dad or brother does because she wants to help and it’s all in jest hehe)
13. 2 days ago you went to an animal shelter and adopted the most adorable cat. What you don’t know is, he’s the reincarnation of an Aztec god. Your food offerings are unacceptable and that ugly small box that feels like it’s made from scratchy carpet will not do. No. He’ll be sleeping in your bed with you. Don’t try to lock him out; he’ll just scream and sing the songs of his people until you let him back in. (Or maybe through a magic mishap Namor has been accidentally transformed into a cat. Yeah Namor as a cat AU. I told you these ideas were silly.)
14. “Would you still love me if I was a worm” meme With Namor or Attuma but instead it’s “Would you still love me if I was a sea cucumber” or something ocean related
15. Namor or Attuma are taking their daughter trick or treating this year and ask what she wants to be for Halloween. A superhero, a mermaid, a princess? No. She wants to be a horseshoe crab. Possible Modern AU.
16. Reader goes to the beach often and befriends the seagulls/pelicans. So they start to bring her gifts like shells, rocks, etc. Except one day they bring you a golden bracelet, beaded necklace, or jade earrings (your choice of which). It’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. A few days later, Namor shows up at the beach, looking very annoyed as he asks for his necklace/bracelet/or earrings back.
17. You and Namor or Attuma meet on the beach in your special spot. You don’t get to be with him often considering he’s kept away by his responsibilities and loyalty to Talokan, and you’re human. It’s usually your only chance to have time where you can just quietly love each other. Except a stupid fucking seagull or pelican has been following you to both the beach and your home; squawking incessantly, wreaking havoc and basically cockblocking you. Untitled Goose Game AU but it’s a seagull/pelican.

Namor, hero or villain?
Namor, the king of atlantis, a hero of world war two, one of humanity’s most dangerous foes, an avenger, a member of the cabal, a saviour of thousands, a murderer of millions. You can say all of these things about Namor and you’d be right about every single one of them.
Namor is a character that has been used as a villain and hero numerous times throughout his very very long existence in marvel comics. He was an x men, an avenger, part of the illuminati (although whether you consider them heroes or not is another matter), a part of the inavders and probably more teams then I can think of. If you look at the list, it paints a pretty good picture of the guy, regardless of what his personality is like. But, wel...
He has often times attacked the surface world with tsunamis, invasions and the like only to be thwarted by the intrepid heroes of the world that more often then not simply let him retreat back to his home. Often times these attacks were caused by misconceptions or decepit, trying to pin the blame on someone else to unleash the sub mariner on your foes, but many other times the cause is simply left unaddressed.
What is this cause? Well, marvel’s decision to intrinsically link every oil spill and exploitative fishing techniques with Namor’s kingdom. The times where Namor has attacked because of human’s desecrating his home or subjects are many, and the sympathy he gets from others tends to vary wildly. While many heroes (like in the most recent run of the avengers) understand his reasoning, they stop him but refuse to acknowledge the root of the problem, that actions such as these are many, and they don’t stop happening.
This, is where people start to question, hero or villain? One could even say that marvel itself doesn’t know the answer to the question, and more often then not the answer depends on what kind of plot device the writers want to turn Namor into. His reasoning, values, loyslties and morality are often tweaked, changed or disregarded completely for the sake of the plot.
So, maybe we should stop and look at Namor, and who this person is. He is atlantean, he is human and he is a mutant, he is a patchwork of different identities that are often at war with one another and that he often has to choose one over the other due to (in my opinion) Atlantis’ absolutely abysmal acceptance of anyone that is different.
Atlantis’ racism and its influence in Namor is very much a part of his character, while his hate for the surface world can be largely explained by all the ugly things he has seen from it, no little part of it is the own culture he was raised in that belittled surface worlders and Namor himself, who often times isn’t considered a ‘real’ atlantean by his own people.
Namor himself, I won’t lie, is a whole can of worms of a character. He is prideful to a deadly degree, arrogant to the detriment of his people and stubborn in a way that can sometimes prove fatal to his kingdom’s future and wellbeing. But, he is also honourable, a man of his word that is sencere, and loyal to those who have earned his trust and friendship (though currently, after inavders (2019) and the whole mess in Avengers, that list is practically empty).
Which, the whole being alone thing is another thing that makes Namor himself, above anything else, Namor is lonely. There is no one out there who is quite like him, though human vein flows in his veins he is not accepted by them and he rejects them as well, his atlantean blood wars with the other in a battle of morality and the perseverity of his people. His mutant status does nothing to breach the gap between himself and other, simply marking another difference that sets him apart.
And to all of this, you must add the fact that he is a king, which is a lonely position in and out of itself. He is a figure to be admired and followed by his subjects, his wives have all been killed and his family is either dead, distant or hates him. His fellow heroes are individualistic people who hold no responsability for the people they protect, they do not have to ensure the following generations will not only survive, but thrive, they do not have to worry about feeding their people, or people doubting their right to rule, or holding the responsibility of thousands of lives under the weight of the crown.
Nobody is like Namor, so nobody can empathise with Namor, pushing him deeper into a well of islotion that has been carved very much by himself and those around him, wether knowingly or not.
Everything I have said is important in answering the question of ‘is Namor a hero or a villain?’ Namor is a complex character who, in recent comics specially, has only been used to create conflict that is superficial and many times out of character. Namor, is not evil, he is pragmatic and cruel sometimes, but nothing he does is done out of an intent to make anyone suffer.
Becuase the crux of the problem is that he cares, Namor loves his people to a dangeroues degree that makes him irrational in the best of days. He is king to a dwindling people who have had their city and homes destroyed almost like clockwork in the last ten years, being left with nothing over and over again while Namor tries to solve the problems, but can’t.
Recently, Namor has been forced to join the avengers to atone for his sin out of She hulk’s advice. He is a king without a crown, and a man with no friends. From what little we’ve been shown he seems to be contemplative, been forced for the first time in very long to reconsider his choices and actions. Although my hopes are low, I hope that the avengers comics can show that Namor can be one of the best heroes out there, he can become something other then a symbol of an enemy under the waves, he can be a symbol of peaceful coexistence between the surface world and Atlantis.
But the avnegers is a big team, whose character focus often times vary wildly and lead to unsatisfying story archs. However, hope is sometimes all we can afford.
So to answer the question, is Namor a hero or a villain?
For now, you can’t say he’s either of those things. But I do believe, that he can become a hero.
#namor#namor the sub mariner#marvel#comics#avengers#Namor is a complex character that deserves better#Also#there's his whole plethora of mental health issues that someone should really address#Atlantis should also be given more depth as a society#We barely know anything beyond surface (hah) level of their values and customs#invaders

Comic Fun Fact time(again)! So in today’s comic fun fact time, we’ll explore Secret Wars arc // mostly exploring the other Battleworlds // Warzones in terms of Nat, Bucky, and Steve By far my favorite arc, but also one of the confusing arcs that I had to struggle through because there were so many storylines on this thing - so undercut is a brief summary of this series/issue while I’ll keep the fun facts up top. // ps only giving fun facts of battleworlds//warzones that i’ve read.
Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow Fun Facts during Secret Wars arc So Nat is basically dead af in 616 (main earth) because it was destroyed, but she’s alive in other universes:
1602 Timeline: Tldr this was old time English and Natasha is a widow and she’s known as the deadliest woman alive. I shit you not, there was this one part in that storyline where she yeeted Matt off of a bridge?? Mind you Matt Murdock is blind and is a bard in this storyline and I straight up died
A different 1602 Timeline: In this one, Natasha was Doom’s lover but she was doing shady black widow business and trying to manipulate Victor Von Doom but he’s like ‘lmao no’ and then yeeted Nat off of a flying pirate ship (listen lmao dont -)
1872 Timeline: One of the most interesting timeline in this whole thing imo. This was western time and Nat is a literal Widow because Bucky died aka her husband in this storyline.
Nat is considered as one of the deadliest woman In most of the timeline, she is deemed as one of the deadliest woman to exist.
Nat was a man in dimension 63 - following my previous statement when I said ‘most’ - i said most because in one dimension, she’s a man. Everyone in that world is their opposite gender. She also has the deepest V-neck suit in that timeline it’s great
Secret War 2099 - I don’t even know if this should be considered as Nat since it’s a whole different woman, but she’s Black Widow and her name is Talia. She’s a person of color and is very much as deadly as Nat 616 - this was a good read too.
Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier Fun Facts during Secret Wars arc So Bucky is also basically dead af in 616 (main earth), and is mostly dead in all the other universes too
1602 Timeline: death by a spear because he hit on the wrong woman. Was part of the Buchanan clan and was a handsome knight
1872 Timeline: death by Fisk, was a deputy, married Nat but left her as an actual widow. They also didn’t meet in a church, insinuating that they met while she was on a mission or him on a lookout.
TBH he wasn’t in a lot of the timelines, like in Giant-Size Little Marvel, he was missing there but you get this beautiful gem of an art by the artist of Giant-Size Little Marvel d’aw (x)
Steve Rogers / Captain America Fun Facts during Secret Wars arc So Steve is also basically dead af in 616 (main earth) since it was destroyed, but is alive in other universes
1602 Timeline: This one was confusing because he’s apparently the 616 Steve Rogers but they were trying to get rid of him so they sent him and time and he ended up in 1602 and hanging out with the Native Americans. His name was Rohjaz in this storyline and when he was transported back to his timeline, he actually triggered 1602 timeline
1872 Timeline: He was a Sheriff and basically trying to bring Fisk down because he’s a corrupt mayor (just like most western storylines) and he ends up dying and being fed to the pigs (jk he was just thrown to the pigs when he died)
Secret War 2099: still unsure if I should even say that this was a counter part of Steve because the captain america here is a woman named Roberta Mendez and is later used as her whole different persona in earth 616 but don’t @ me right now - comics are confusing.
Giant-Size Little Marvel: They’re all kids here and Steve’s version of fun is working out and they (avengers) teased him about this lmao - he had a bootcamp - he also sold hotdogs, and hated Cyclop’s eye puns (he made a few)
BRIEF SYNOPSIS: undercut // srsly this is brief considering that I’m combining a few of the issues during this event.
Secret Wars: okay like this one was confusing because basically there's multiple universes in marvel comics yeah? Well an incursion happens where these said universe start clashing with one another and doing a rippling effect that clashes to other universes killing that universe. Basically Ultimate and 616 (main storyline marvel) had the same idea of basically fighting one another - need to note that 616 killed ONE universe at one point and the heroes felt guilty af because they're like shit fam we just killed a buncha people. So like they were gonna not do that anymore but then Namor was like "nah fam we ain't about to fucken die, I'm a bad Bitch" so they destroy more worlds (namor and his rag tag team that had thanos don't ask). This is getting long but basically the heroes were like wtf bro and then another incursion was happening and they were gonna let it happen - some heroes fought but for the most part people were saying bye to one another it was actually pretty fucking sad. Some people from 616 survived because Reed made a life ship thing to avoid the incursion but as they escape, Ultimate and 616 are destroyed and then OTHER POCKETS OF UNIVERSES ARE BORN lead by Doom and his minions of Thor (yeah idk).
This is where you get stories like Timely, Marvel Zombies, 1602, noir, the one where they're all kids (loves that one) and more! Anyway so while that's happening, doom is playing god and assigning barons to watch over these worlds etc. it eventually gets to the point where Reed and Doom duke it out and then Reed is like “I’d make a better world than you, this shit (world) trash bruh” and Doom’s like “you right but fuck you” and then Owen, powerful ass mutant, was like “oh damn aight, since y’all made up-” he changes time and basically stops the incursion from happening to 616 but like all the other shit still happened because Miles Morales remembers his convo with Owen (he gave him a cheeseburger and thats how he remembers, dont ask). So 616 was remade and doom was no longer ugly so he’s like ‘yeah okay i can dig it, i don’t need to play as god anyway’ then laughs while Reed and Susan use Owen as a battery source to remake universes that were lost.

Putting this all here because I’m pretty much done with your bullshit @imperiusrexxx
I would respond to imperiuswrecked, but they blocked me. It’s no loss, but, like, we were in the middle of something, bro. Now, if I respond, it would just be behind their back.
I guess I’ll just say that demanding a character be portrayed accurately is not racist, fighting for representation of one race when the character is coded for that race is not racist, and stating that a person does not look like a character is not racist. I have not said anything against Latinos because I have nothing against Latinos. I just think an East Asian actor would fit the role more accurately. Again, if they had chosen a white actor, I would have made the same arguments and would have been just as unhappy with the casting.
I don’t know why they were obsessed with the fact that I’m not attracted to Tenoch, like that matters. There are beautiful Latino men, but they still would not be an accurate cast for Namor...unless they were half-Asian. He is only half-Atlantean, which is the East Asian coded race.
As for other accusations, they’re just bullshit. Unless they’re specific, I can’t even address them and have to assume they’re just lying to push their narrative.
I blocked you because as far as I was concerned we were done. You posted about Namor being Asian and only Asian using comic meta I had talked about before as the core belief in your argument that Tenoch is a bad choice for Namor and I refuted that and that was it. I have no wish to listen to your explanations as if I haven’t been a Namor fan since 2014 and done a lot of reading about him.
Demanding a character to be portrayed accurately is what people should be doing for things like Wanda Maximoff being Romani in the comics and being played by a White actress in the movies. Meanwhile Namor is an Ambiguous biracial character, he has coding, coding that is PoC and Atlanteans are a fictional race that could be any Native/Non White race. All of the arguments you are using have been based on my and other fans thoughts and posts, yet you disregard Tenoch because he isn’t what you personally like. I’m not obsessed with your thoughts on whether you think Tenoch is ugly or not, you make that clear in your writing “There are many beautiful Latino men” yet you don’t consider Tenoch to be among them, and honestly I don’t care if you hate him. You are very against him even though he hasn’t even been confirmed for Namor.
The issue I have with you is that you are pitting the Latino vs Asian representation so you can win your argument. Other than that I have not bothered you not spoken with you since you left the server. You accuse Namor fans of leaving you Anon hate messages, and I for one have never sent another person Anon hate.
I don’t really care what your Anons have to say because if they thought it would be worth defending then they wouldn’t be on Anon.
Once again, Atlanteans are an ambiguously coded fictional race, yes there is coding for them being Asian, but there is also coding for them being Inuit, or Native American. The whole point of Namor is that he isn’t a white man. Choosing a Latino actor for Namor, even if it was not Tenoch, is not going against anything in Namor’s canon because Atlanteans are a fictional non white race. No one is saying one race is interchangable with another except you, I said there are many options and ways to play out Namor’s story and it is not specifically set with him as an East Asian man, however if Marvel had gone that route then I would have been happy as well because I can hold more than two thoughts about how Namor could be portrayed and not have my head explode, imagine that?
I am not white. The only person who is white who is trying to speak for poc here is @imperiusrexxx and I’m literally so astounded by the fact that I am LITERALLY saying “stop speaking for fans of color and pitting Latinos vs Asians in this Namor casting debate because it’s not your place to decide who gets representation over another people.” and you and whomever this is are acting like I’m wrong when I know I am not.
I have been surrounded by East Asian people for a lifetime. I was treated like a person and gave them the same respect, because they are people. I listened to their dreams and their problems. They exist. They are not all martial arts masters. They have interests and enjoy aesthetics outside of ancient Chinese or Japanese aesthetics. They can be shaped like body builders, they can be tall, and they can be dark-skinned, Hollywood. I care about the East Asian population because people I care/d about are/were East Asian.
No one is disputing that Asian people are actual people. No one. I don’t care that you have Asian friends. I don’t understand why you are acting like I didn’t want Namor to be played by an Asian actor when I literally spent years, and shared fancasts, and talked about how it would be a great possibility for Namor to be played by an Asian actor. Just because now I can see a Latino actor playing Namor doesn’t mean I have “switched poc interchangeably” it just means that I can see Namor’s character being portrayed in multiple ways. Honestly it’s so small minded of you to think that one race of people deserve more representation than another, that’s not your choice to make and it’s not your right to be offended when actual fans of color are telling you that are wrong.
Anyway, yes, people of color are not interchangeable. They have their differences, their own struggles, their own cultures, and, in the case of the Namor argument, their own physical characteristics.
Yeah, I fucking know that poc are not interchangable but Namor is of a FICTIONAL race of people and it is up to interpretation and different fans of color can see themselves represented by this character. You keep mentioning physical characteristics, you keep saying that Namor should look like the comics. Then why haven’t you responded to @gloriosa-celeste who is also a Namor fan on their reply when they mentioned:
“Your insistence that Tenoch doesn’t look like Namor is just further evidence of your racist ignorance and preference of euro-centric beauty standards. There is no consistent artist portrayal of Namor - he looks like your average white man in some comics, ambiguously non-white in others, and like a racist caricature in others. No actor is going to look exactly like Namor jumped out of the page, and most Asian men do not have your “ideal” features of “blue eyes and high cheekbones.” You don’t need to find Tenoch Huerta attractive, but your constant insistence that he’s unattractive and doesn’t look like Namor is just you admitting that you don’t think dark-skinned, Indigenous Latino men should be in the spotlight. I personally think Tenoch Huerta looks very regal and attractive, and that he would make a beautiful Namor. “
Namor has never been drawn consistently. So to wrap this up, stop putting your negative comments in the main Namor tags, fuck off with your barely concealed racism, and yes I will be blocking you again soon because I’m done dealing with you and I don’t owe you anymore of my time.
As for other accusations, they’re just bullshit. Unless they’re specific, I can’t even address them and have to assume they’re just lying to push their narrative.
Lmao, I’m not a liar and you are a xenophobic racist, I have no narrative to push because if Marvel had given me a choice of what actor to play Namor then I would have picked David Lee McInnis instead I choose to be happy and supportive of Tenoch Huerta, so every argument you make saying that all I am is a lying Anti trying to gatekeep Asian representation and treat poc representation as interchangeable is such bullshit.
As for specifics I was not the target of your actions, and it would be up to others if they wish to address it outside of the server it took place it.
