stupid thing i wrote while jetlagged
a few days ago i submitted a concept for a fanfic and some art to @dweamisland and i finally wrote it. Have a poorly written thingy because my grammar sucks and i was really jetlagged when i wrote this
(this takes place in a rural country town [imagine fredericksburg texas because i have been there and imagine it not being an attraction and more of a small spread apart southern town] because thats what i headcanon, human au, most stuff is based of dweamisland’s headcanons because they are the best headcanons)
It was a hot summer day, the sun was sizzling on the wooden floors of Flame [firey] Ash’s porch. They were kicking a ball in their small backyard while his older sister Matheia [Match] was sitting on a lawn chair taking care of her tamagotchi. Their name was Asul.
“Ugh! Flame, do you know how you play correctly with Asul?” Matheia grumbled while her head was crunched on her knees.
“Nope, but I know how to do this..!” Flame exclaimed, and kicked the ball high into the air. Matheia squealed as the ball zipped past her.
The ball hit a wall-hung lantern by the door. The lamp shattered and the lightbulb depleted. Matheia flinched as the glass fell onto the grass. Flame suddenly slipped and scraped himself up.
Matheia huffed and pulled Flame to their feet. “You need to be more careful…Come on let’s go inside and I’ll fix you up…” Matheia said as she guided Flame across the yard, careful not to step on any glass as they were both barefoot.
She foraged through the cabinets for bandages. She wiped him down, put some bandages on Flame and went to her room to watch Sailor Moon.
Firey slumped on the kitchen chair, looking at the faulty faucet drip water.
The repetitive sound was interrupted when he heard a ring at the doorbell. He peeped out the window to see who it was, and he nearly doubled over in his chair when he saw her.
It was that cute girl who delivered newspapers, Flame always watched when she rode past the house. He always grabbed the newspapers eagerly, nearly tripping himself on the boiling hot porch. Then he gazes hazily at her, as the wind blows through her hair. Matheia loved to tease him about his crush. Firey denied it, she was cute but why would he like her? Right?
Once she looked right at them and smiled, he nearly fainted.
This happened time and time again, he slowly started to crush on her…yet his stubborn personality prevailed, oblivious to what he felt.
It was not Sunday though, why was she here? Not like Flame was complaining…
He opened the door, and saw the girl. Even cuter close up..She had tan freckled skin, green hair, hazel eyes and a bright smile on her face.
“Uh—Hello. I’m Flame, how can I help you?” He smiled nervously.
The girl chuckled. “Hi, I’m Leah Límon. (Leafy) My grandma told me to go meet new kids on the street. Can I come in?” Leah said in her sleepy voice and smiled.
Flame nodded with an inaudible squeak of joy and anxiety, and told her to come in. “So, you live with your grandma?” Flame asked. “Yeah…” Leah sighed.
“My mom got me and my sister a Nintendo, Matheia always wins…Do you wanna play Mario Kart?” Flame exclaimed. Leah nodded and they started up the system.
Leah picked Luigi as her character. “What? I wanted to be Luigi…” Flame groaned. “Too bad~!” Leah exclaimed tunefully. Flame selected Mario Circuit. Leah won.
“Haha! Yes!” She smiled in victory. “You only won because you got a bullet bill at the last second…Her laugh was genuine and set Flame’s heart beating fast. They talked for a little bit, but it was so hot they could barely focus. “I need something cold…” Flame sighed, dehydrated as a desert.
“Let’s make lemonade!” Leah perked up. “I made it all the time for me and my grandma, and it's super refreshing!” She explained. “That sounds awesome, but we don’t have any lemons!” Flame sighed.
“Oh no!.. Well, we can buy some at the store. Let’s go on my bike!” She suggested. They both went to Leah’s bike and sat on it.
“Hold on to me so you don’t fall.” Leah said. “Oh..Uh okay!” Flame complied. This made him flustered and he did not know why. They rode off to the grocers and wandered around in the produce section for lemons. The mist machines refreshed them and replenished their energy. Leah found the crate of lemons and examined her choices. “Flame, come here…” She said in a quiet voice. He came over and looked at her confused.
“What are you doing?” He asked. “I’m a fruit whisperer, I pick fruit in my backyard and make food for me and my grandma. I know which lemon is bad and which lemon is good.” Leah explained, holding lemons, squeezing them, tapping them and more.
Flame being the impatient tween that he is, he quickly got irritated with this. “Are you done?” He mumbled. “Yeah, yeah..Okay! These are the perfect lemons.” She said, and put them in her wick basket. She asked how much it would cost, and it was 2$ for a pound of lemons. Flame shuffled through their pockets, looking for any coins or dollars. They were empty.
“Don’t worry, I have 5 dollars from my chores.” Leah smiled. Her head barely peaked over the counter. She put down the lemons and the money.
After they had gone home, Flame wanted to cut the lemons. When he cut his first one, a squeeze of lemon juice shot out of the lemon and into his eye. He inhaled sharply and rubbed his eye.
“You are not doing it right.” Leah said. “Oh yeah?” Flame scoffed. “Yeah.”
“Do not apply too much pressure to the knife, because it could slip or the juice could go into your face.” She instructed, and held his hand accordingly, guiding it.“Yeah, like that.” She smiled. Flame was flushed, like a tomato.
Flame blushed and thanked her. They squeezed the lemons into the glass and put water and ice into it. Leah rummaged through the cabinets for sugar. She opened the bag and put some in. “Let’s see how it tastes…” She smiled, and clinked her glass against Flame’s. “Uh..yeah!” He snapped out of his trance, and drank some.
A sour taste filled both of their mouths, not good like a lemon tart but more intense and pricked at their taste buds. Leah swallowed it and sighed. They needed more sugar.
So, they took turns putting more sugar until it was perfect. Not too sour or sweet, just right. When they finally found the perfect lemon to sugar ratio, Leah turned on the radio and they danced together. When they were worn and exhausted, to the point they couldn’t dance any more, Flame told Leah to come outside.
They brought their pitcher with them, and Leah happily poured it into his glass. They sat on the lawn chairs drinking lemonade and chatting as the sun set. Flame still could not believe this girl knew his name. Why was he like this..?
“Leah, why do you live with your grandma and not your parents?” He asked. “My dad is living in a different house right now. My mom died because of childbirth issues, so my Grandma takes care of me, and I take care of her.” Leah explained. “I’m sorry.” Flame said, embarrassed that he even asked that.
“Don’t worry, I have a good life. And it just got better because of you!” Leah smiled right at him. Leah looked at the sky and frowned. “It’s getting kind of dark. I should get home, but hey…I really think we should be friends! See you!” She exclaimed, and hugged Flame. She got on her bike, winked at him and rode away.
Flame was dumbfounded on what just happened, in his hazy trance he stumbled inside where he found Matheia sitting on the couch. “What’re you doing?” He asked. “I found an old tape in the attic.” She said. “How was your day?”
“You have no idea…”

Part 1

AN: Part 1 of 3 for this Male Naga X Female Reader. I’m hoping to get better at writing short stories, but it’ll take some practice. I hope y’all enjoy!
Warning(s): N/A
You didn’t know why you decided to leave home but your mind was already made up and the U-Haul was already packed. There was no going back now. You didn’t want to be a big city nurse anymore, and you also didn’t want to move back to your hometown. So, this year you decided to move to New Mexico, specifically Peralta. A town of a little over three thousand people. The eastern half of town right on the border of the Isleta Pueblo Reservation, and the Rio Grande River to the west. You could even see the Manzano Mountain Range in the distance.
The drive to Peralta was taxing, but unbelievably beautiful. No wonder why New Mexico is called The Land of Enchantment. You made it to your new home in the middle of the day, and the sun was high above you. Of course you decided to move in the middle of summer, the dry heat smacking you in the face as you got out of the rental truck. You shielded your eyes from the sun as you stared at your new home.
The property was near the end of a dirt road, about a city block away from the local cemetery. But you didn’t mind, in fact it made the house even cheaper.  You’d just have to remember to cleanse the house whenever you got a chance. The house was a simple one-story pueblo style house, the faux-adobe outside was an ivory color, and the windows were painted pear green. It lacked the wooden vigas, making it obvious that it wasn’t an actual pueblo home. The house was small, the yard was huge, it had a detached stainless-steel garage, and a dirt driveway. All surrounded by a chain link fence with a gate.
It didn’t take you long to unload the U-Haul, considering you sold most of your things before you moved. You lay your mattress on the bedroom floor and the majority of boxes stay in your living room. You look at the time on your phone, there was still two hours until the U-Haul’s scheduled return time. Un-packing wasn’t the first item on the agenda, some serious cleaning needed to be done before you thought about anything else.
Granted the house wasn’t in horrible shape, but it was obvious that it’s been a few months since anyone has lived in it. The air was stuffy, there was dust on everything, and there was dirt all over the floors. You search for your bag of cleaning supplies that you bought at a Wal-Mart in Albuquerque, well prepared to clean. With the house being so small, it didn’t take you long to clean, so you took your time admiring your new home. The house was made in the seventies, the Spanish-style linoleum tiles in the kitchen being the proof. Yet it didn’t look like it came out of a home magazine that your grandmother would've read. There were some obvious updates throughout the years. Thankfully central air was one of them.
You returned the U-Haul and the towing dolly on time, driving your car back home. You stopped at a Domino’s on the way home, not yet ready to try the local food. Unpacking was the only thing on your mind. And no surprise to you, it took all night. Packing wasn’t easy, because you had to take things from their place and sort them into boxes. Unpacking was another challenge, the amount of times you switched which cabinet your plates went in was frustrating. By two in the morning you had everything put away, there were sheets on your bed, and your eyelids were heavy.
                                                      ~~***~~
It’s been a month since you’ve moved, and you’ve loved it more that you’d ever thought. Living in your one bedroom house was a dream compared to any other apartment you’ve had before. You’ve gotten over the linoleum in the kitchen, and you couldn’t even imagine the house without it. The yard was easy to maintain, considering it was primarily dirt. You didn’t see much of your neighbors but they were nice from what you could tell. And the quiet was refreshing.
You spent most of your days at work, a health center in the middle of the Isleta Pueblo Reservation. The work was tough, and didn’t pay much, but it was obvious that they needed you there. According to your co-workers everyone wanted to work in the big cities and that smaller health centers, especially ones for the native populations, were constantly understaffed. You became a licensed practical nurse because you wanted to help people, and working in an at risk community fulfilled that goal.
To say you were surprised when your co-worker invited you to her birthday party in Albuquerque was an understatement. Although you didn’t know her that well, you still went. You needed socialization outside of the workplace and the occasional video calls with your family back home. So, you put on your best outfit and did your best to look presentable. The night started off at a restaurant, the food was amazing, and the company was actually enjoyable. After dinner you all went to a bar, so far it was a typical birthday party for a bunch of girls in their twenties.
You stood against the wall, nursing a drink as everyone else in your group dance. Normally you weren’t such a party pooper, but these girls weren’t much of your crown. It was too early in the night to go home, and they all knew that you didn’t work tomorrow so you couldn’t use that excuse. Hence why you resorted to people watching. The bar was packed with humans and non-humans alike, all dancing with each other. There were already a few couples sharing face in the darker corners.
“You look bored,” a blunt voice shook you from your daze. You look to the side, noticing as a tall man slithered up to you. Not metaphorically. Your eyes instantly gravitated to his tail, the bulk of muscle trailing closely behind him as he moved. You couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the pattern of his scales. The base was beige and was decorated in an assortment of splotches all in varying shades of brown, and at the very end of it all was a black rattle. He laughs at your reaction, “have you never seen a Naga before?”
“Not up close, there weren’t that many back home,” you flush a little as you are caught staring. Which wasn’t a lie, you didn’t see many growing up, nor did you encounter a lot at work either. A surprising statistic you’ve learned since you moved is that New Mexico has the highest population of Naga in the United States, with Texas as a close second. You have seen a few as you wandered around Peralta and the neighboring towns, but you have yet to talk to them.
“Oh, you’re from out of town. How exciting,” he smiles and extends a hand, “Santiago Rosales.” You shake his hand and introduce yourself. His smile grows and the rainbow lights from the dance floor reflect off his fangs. You couldn’t deny that he was an attractive man, tan skin, curly raven hair, a triangular face with a strong jawline, and golden serpentine eyes. You look back at the dance floor and notice one of your co-workers giving you a thumbs up. “So, not to sound cheesy… But why is a pretty chica like you, not out there?”
You flush a little at his definitely cheesy comment, “I’ve already done my socializing for the evening, but if I leave now I’ll never hear the end of it at work. What about you, why aren’t you out there?”
He motions to his tail, “I’m in no mood to get stomped on.”
“Oh… I didn’t even think of that. Does it happen often?”
“It happened a lot when I was a kid, but I was kinda a wimpy kid too,”
You raise a brow as you look at how snugly his button up fits to his arms and chest, “wimpy?”
“Hey I wasn’t always like this, I was a string bean growing up. It took years for this to happen,” he motions to himself proudly. You laugh and finish your drink, Santiago looks at the empty glass, “may I offer to buy you another drink?”
You contemplate it for a second then shake your head, “no thank you, I have to drive home tonight. And I don’t live in Albuquerque.”
“Is it too weird to ask where you live then?”
  “Peralta,” you shrug.
“Really? My mom lives in Peralta… Maybe I’ll see you around?”
                                                       ~~***~~
And you did, the first time you saw Santiago was at the grocery store. You were trying to figure out what brand of refried beans to buy when he came down the aisle, slithering alongside an older Naga woman. He didn’t acknowledge you, which made you question whether he recognized you at all. The second time you saw him was at the post office, and he immediately smiled when he saw you. Your heart couldn’t help to flutter at the sight of him. The third time was at the bank, both of you waiting in line at the tellers.
The fourth time was when everything changed. You were standing in the bathroom aisle at Target in Albuquerque, looking through the wide array of shower curtain options. You heard your name being called and you looked up, expecting to see someone from work, possibly even a regular patient. But, instead your eyes were graced with the sight of a familiar Naga in a taut shirt and a leather jacket, “oh, hi Santiago.”
“Hola, looking for a shower curtain I see,” he smiles as he sidles up beside you.
You fluster a little, realizing you were still wearing your baggy maroon scrubs. “Indeed I am, it’s been two months and my house still looks like no one lives in there.”
He looks you up and down, his eyes stopping at the embroidered patch above your breast, “you work at Isleta Health Center?”
Your brows knit in confusion and you look down at the patch, resisting the urge to face palm, “yes, yes I do. Sorry, I just got off my shift and I kinda forgot I was still wearing this monstrosity.”
“You don’t look bad at all if I’m being honest…”
Damn he was slick, “it’s not the worst, but I hate how plain it is. I sold all my fun scrubs when I moved, so I’m stuck with the standard issues until I buy more.” He nods and looks at the shower curtains in your hands curiously. “So, what are you here for?”
"Uhh… Honestly I don't even know anymore. They didn't have what I needed, so I just started to aimlessly slither around the store. And then I found you."
"Aimlessly wandering around Target can be dangerous," you chuckle.
"I haven't learned my lesson apparently," he gives you a lopsided smile, "last time it happened I came home with a pillow that had some motivational quote.”
“Yikes,” you laugh and put one of the curtains back onto it’s metal hook.
“Yikes indeed,” he crosses his arms over his chest as he looks at the options before him. “So, do you have any style in mind.”
“Santiago, you don’t need to help me.”
“I fear if I don’t help you, you’ll be stuck in the store until it closes,” he teases with a wink.
You feel the heat rising to your cheeks, “alright fine. My house is pueblo style, built in the seventies. The bathroom was recently remodeled before they sold it, so the walls are plain, it has normal wood, and laminate tiles that look like travertine. It’s very boring.”
“So you need something to spice it up?”
“Exactly,” you pick up a geometric patterned one, looking at the picture on the cardboard.
Santiago shakes his head, "nope", he takes it out of your hand and puts it back. You look at him dumbfounded by how brash he was. He puts another one in your hands, “this one looks like you.”
You look down at the curtains, it was a simple floral. But with the way the bright flowers were stylized like they were from an Alfredo Ramos Martinez painting. “This is cute.”
“You look like a floral person.”
“How does one look like a floral person, without being an actual nymph?” He shrugs and you simply roll your eyes, “you’re lucky I tolerate you.”
  He winces, “just tolerate?”
  “Well, I don’t know you that well…”
“Then let's get to know each other,” his posture straightens. “Why don’t we go out for a coffee someday, as a date?” You must’ve stared at him like he grew another head because he immediately fell back on his statement, “or not a date?”
  “No… A date is fine.”
  “Is it?”
  “Definitely.”
“Then why are you still looking at me like that?”
Your face instantly turns a scarlet color, “I… It's been awhile since I’ve been on a date. So, the fact that you are asking me on a date, in a Target, is mind boggling.”
“Do you want me to ask you outside the Target?”
“That’s not the point,” you sigh, trying to steady your breathing. “So, a date?”
Santiago smirks, “give me your phone.” You scowl and he shrinks at your stern gaze, “por favor?” Reluctantly you unlock and hand him your phone, watching as he makes himself a contact. “Text me when you get home, I should have a fantastic plan by then.”
  “No coffee?”
“Nope, you deserve more than a coffee.” You flush again as he smiles victoriously, “I’ll let you get back to shopping so you can get home at a decent hour. Talk to you soon, cariño.” You watch as he slithers out of the aisle with a wave over his shoulder. You can’t help but stare, looking at the end of the aisle then back at the curtains in your hand. For some reason, the bright flowers just felt right. So, you put the package into your basket and head off to find the next item on your list. And you couldn’t wait until you got home.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Painted Brick Exterior
Hi, everyone! How are you today? I had such a wonderful weekend. I baked with my husband and even attempted to make some cheese… but don’t ask about that! LOL. Anyway, I am super happy and excited because the weather is finally changing and the sun is shinning. I am also so very happy because I adore Callie of ceshome6 and her style so much that this is the second time I have her on my “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” series. The first time, I shared her formal home (you can see it here) and it became one of my most-pinned posts! Today, I am proud to be sharing Callie’s new home and I am sure you will enjoy seeing and knowing all details as much as I did!
“My husband and I were originally from a small town in North Texas near Oklahoma. We have known each other since kindergarten but didn’t start dating until our junior year of high school. After graduation we moved to the Dallas area for college and have stayed close ever since. We will have been married for 15 years this July and have 4 beautiful children; a 17 year old daughter, a 14 year old daughter, a 9 year old son, and a 5 year old daughter. I feel very blessed to be able to stay at home with them and take care of our family and home.
We had planned to build a home again but during our search I found this spec home and the moment I walked in I loved it. It was my style with the color selections and it was the perfect size for our family. Another bonus was that it was already complete and ready to move in. We went for it and two months later we moved into our new home.
My favorite part of the home is the long open kitchen, dining and living space in one and we spend the most time gathered in this area as a family. I’ve always loved to decorate my homes to really feel cozy and welcoming. I don’t have one specific design style but like to incorporate in different pieces I like. My home is a mix of modern, rustic, farmhouse and french country. I also try to be minimal in my decor because with having 4 kids I don’t want to have to worry so much about moving things all the time or things getting broken.”
I hope you enjoy our house tour!

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Painted Brick Exterior
What first caught my eye about this home was definitely the white exterior. There’s something about a white home! I was sold before I even walked in. The 2 porches in the front were also a huge selling point because we love to sit outside and watch the kids play. The exterior brick paint color is PPG Atrium White and shutters are PPG Black Forest.

I got her own couch for her to go in the living room because she’s been scratching up our leather couch with her nails and she loves it!! Target has the cutest doggie beds! I loved this buffalo plaid one and it goes so well with all my other decor!

Magnolia Inspiration
I decided I wanted a black a white theme when I saw a photo from Magnolia Home that had beautiful black wood arched frames behind the nightstands. I like to save money when possible so I found my own version from Kirkland’s (similar here) and spray painted them black to get the same look for over half the cost.
Bed & Bedding
The bed set is from the Magnolia Home line at Nebraska Furniture Mart. The bedding and lamps are from Target.
Decor
There’s a small corner in the room that was bare so I found this cute macrame wall hanging (similar here) and an olive plant at Homegoods. It’s very simple but I love it.
Faux Olive Plant: here.
Study
The study is in the front of the home off to the side when you come in the front door. I recently completed a makeover in my study by adding Weaber Lumber white washed wall boards from Home Depot to a focal wall and I love how the transformation turned out. It makes the room so bright and open. I also added greenery with these hanging macrame plant hangers from amazon. I decided to save some money by painting a few terra cotta pots from Hobby Lobby to match my decor and filled them with IKEA plants.
To really make the room pop I changed out the lighting to a beautiful wood bead chandelier from World Market. I found this desk at Restoration Hardware a few years ago and both the chair and rug are from Nebraska Furniture Mart.

5 Tiny Homes that Will Make You Want to Move Now
Many people across the world dream of living in a tiny house. Smaller dwellings are generally cheaper to buy and maintain, not to mention easier to heat in the winter and cool in the summer. In fact, many people can only afford to own a small home through renting or residing with family. The idea of living in a tiny house has become quite trendy recently, especially among millennials. But how does one actually go about downsizing their home? Let’s take a look at some awesome examples of tiny homes that might just inspire you to start packing right now!
A Tiny House with a View
One of the most appealing aspects of tiny houses is the fact that they are movable. This tiny house has a beautiful view of a beach, though it is also located close to a river. The wooden exterior is both stylish and durable, which is perfect for withstanding the elements. Although the interior of the home looks quite basic, the open space and beautiful view make up for it. This tiny house is definitely a great choice for those who need to move every few years. Plus, it has a great view while you’re packing!
A Cozy Tiny Home for One
This tiny house is the perfect size for one person or a couple. It includes a bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom, all within about 300 square feet of space. As you can see, the kitchen is not very big, but it has all the appliances you need to make a delicious meal. The bedroom is cozy, with a nice-sized window providing plenty of natural light. And the bathroom is almost as big as the kitchen, with a shower, sink, and toilet all in one space. All in all, this tiny house is perfect for someone who likes to live simply.
A Bright and airy Tiny Mansion
This tiny house is brought to you by the great state of Texas! The state is famous for its large, spacious homes, and this tiny house definitely fits the bill. The house is decked out in warm, earthy tones, with a beautiful built-in bookcase and a kitchen island that makes it seem like you’re in a high-end restaurant. The large windows allow plenty of sunlight to enter the home, making it feel airy and bright. The house is perfect for someone who prefers lots of space and a traditional aesthetic.
A Beautiful Blueberry Harvesting Camp
This tiny house is located on a blueberry harvesting camp in New York. The camp is only occupied during the harvest season, which takes place in summer. The house is compact but also has a modern aesthetic, with clean lines and neutral colors. There is a small kitchenette with a sink and a fridge, a table, and a couple of chairs. The bathroom is quite basic, but it has everything you need and nothing you don’t. This tiny house is ideal for someone who likes to travel and enjoys the simple life.
An Organic Tiny Home
This tiny house is one of the most beautiful tiny houses on our list. The exterior has a natural wood finish, while the interior is decorated in warm, neutral tones. The house has a loft-like feel with a staircase leading up to a loft bedroom. The kitchen is spacious and open, with plenty of counter space, cabinets, and appliances. There is a small dining table nearby, as well as a built-in couch for relaxing and watching TV. This tiny house is perfect for someone who loves natural materials and likes to entertain friends and family.
A Miniature Mansard Roof Mansion
This tiny house is bright and airy, with a beautiful mansard roof. The exterior of the building is made from cedar, which not only looks beautiful but is also very durable. The interior has been decorated with warm, neutral tones, including wooden floors and built-ins. The kitchen is spacious and has plenty of counter space, as well as plenty of cabinets and drawers. There is a dining table nearby and a couch for relaxing. This tiny house is perfect for someone who loves the style of vintage homes and enjoys entertaining family and friends.
Conclusion
No matter which tiny house you choose, it will be a lot smaller than a normal house. However, these tiny houses are meant to be. People who live in tiny houses generally spend less money than people who live in normal houses because tiny houses cost less to buy and maintain. Additionally, tiny houses are easier to heat and cool than a normal-sized home. If you’re interested in living in a tiny house, you may have to make some lifestyle changes. You’ll likely have less privacy and more noise from your neighbors. You’ll also have less space and fewer amenities than you would in a larger home. But if you’re willing to make those trade-offs, you could be well on your way to achieving your dream of living in a tiny house.

Top 4 Stainless Steel Shelves Manufacturers
The beauty of stainless steel shelves is that they can be used in almost any room in the house. Furthermore, depending on the shelf style, kitchens might become more functional yet appealing, laundry facilities could have a more efficient, robust, and durable solution for organizing laundry supplies, and even a child's room could benefit from more display or storage space.
Because this material is nonporous, you won't have to worry about problems like wood rot, cracking, or splitting that come with wooden shelves, making it ideal for kitchens, baths, and laundry rooms where steam and moisture are a problem but cleaning is a breeze.
It's critical to look around for the best shelving designs, which means that in addition to the shelves themselves, any hooks, racking systems, and hanging elements must all satisfy high requirements. Although shelves manufactured of this material are normally inexpensive, it's a good idea to browse around and check prices from other manufacturers.
Keep in mind that just because you see shelves from well-known brands doesn't indicate you'll pay a lot of money for them. Indeed, whether buying for home or commercial usage, industry leaders run sales throughout the year, allowing you to get a top-rated product at a low price.
Tumblr media
We strongly advise you to examine the following manufacturers for both stainless steel kitchen shelving and commercial shelving designs, such as for a restaurant or store. Each of these businesses has worked hard to earn a reputation for delivering some of the best shelving and storage solutions available.
1. Stainless Steel Fabricators - Based in Venus, Texas, this company offers a wide range of steel goods, including food service solutions. The company also manufactures tables, countertops, exhaust hoods, kitchen backsplash, wall paneling, trim, and other items in addition to shelving.
2. Industrial Depot, Inc. - This Georgia-based wholesaler is known for its stainless steel shelving, as well as fasteners, hooks, screws, and other accessories.
3. Nelson Industrial Inc. - Based in Ontario, Canada, this company can produce stainless steel products in almost any form or design. This company creates cost-effective solutions such as rivet parts, cabinets, countertops, wall panels, ceiling tiling, and much more.
4. Fabricators, Inc. - This Ontario, Canada manufacturing company has long been a favorite for its innovative designs, regardless of the application. Furniture, panels, railings, countertops, cabinets, and stainless steel shelves, for example, are not only sturdy and durable, but also corrosion, water, and stain resistant.
Miscellaneous Sheet Metal, Inc. is number five on the list. This sheet metal company, based in Jacksonville, Florida, offers a wide range of solutions for homes and businesses. In addition to the superior materials, the workmanship is second to none. Only the best grade stainless steel goods are created within the more than 10,000 square feet of space. What's the cheapest way to get rid of an old picnic table, bench, and over 50 bricks? Question: I moved into a new home and the backyard is filled with bricks, an old picnic table, and bench. The town said they would take the picnic table and bench, but I would need to break it down and put it out little by little. They also said they would not take the bricks….
Answer from RGV Hauling Junk & Moving: A Handyman or Trash and Junk hauler could handle the table and bench - either to haul to the dump in one piece or to cut it up so you can trashcan it over a period of time. I would give them the option of how to dispose of it.
The bricks are easy - you could pay a trash hauler to take them away, but easier ways - 1) make a little round patio in the yard with them 2) make a short walk with them 3) make a garden or flowerbed border with them, or a litttle pyramid planter 4) dig them in as a border for your driveway or a walkway 5) make a pedestal for a birdbath or other artsy yard item 6) dig them in as a pad somewhere you stand outside a lot, or to set a rainbarrel or trashcan or hose reel or whatever on 7) dig them in in a U shape to serve as downspout splash blocks to lead water away from house 8) place them as a surfacing under your stairs if you have wooden open-faced stairs 9) Craigslist them (if in intact conditions - stains don't matter) - someone will be willing to take them for yard purposes - this might work for the table and bench too if in usable or refinishable shape 10) neatly stack by the street at edge of your drive with a FREE sign on them - they might well disappear. Picnic table and bench might go same way, and if not gone in a week or so, THEN you could have them cut up.
On the cutting up of the picnic table and bench - for what you would pay to have someone cut them up (probably about $75-100) you could buy yourself a Sawzall with a pack of 10" coarse-tooth demolition blades and do it yourself (also some 8" metal cutting ones if you have to cut up metal tubing legs), and you would end up with a few blades and a sawzall for your investment and maybe have enough money left over to get a pizza.

From the Strategist: The Most Essential Pasta-Making Tools, According to Professional Pasta-Makers
Tumblr media
Photo: Courtesy Retailer
Experts recommend pasta machines, cutters, and more to make fresh, homemade pasta, from the Strategist
The secret to making pasta at home is that it’s not actually that hard, especially once you have all of the right tools. But even decisions as seemingly simple as whether you should buy a hand-crank pasta machine or an electric one can quickly become daunting if you don’t have a guide. Do you need a ravioli pin, or will a tablet suffice? What about a drying rack? To figure out what pasta-making tools you really need, and which you can leave sitting in your Amazon cart, we asked Linda Miller Nicholson, author of Pasta, Pretty Please and the “pasta artist” behind the Instagram account Salty Seattle, and Meryl Feinstein, the founder of Pasta Social Club in Austin, Texas, to walk us through everything they use to cut, shape, and cook their lovingly made and endearingly bright pasta.
Pasta machine
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Pasta Machine
For most people making fresh pasta at home, an electrical pasta machine is overkill. But even if you’re getting a modest hand-crank pasta-maker, it’s important to invest in one that’s accurate. That’s because a pasta machine is basically made of two rollers, which start at a wider width then taper inward. “As you reduce the space in between them, that’s what makes the pasta sheet get thinner and thinner, and the calibration on those two rollers is very, very important,” explains Nicholson. “Even if it’s a 64th of a millimeter off, you’ll have one side of the pasta sheet pulling and being a little bit more narrow, whereas the other side doesn’t grab it quite as much.” That’ll leave your pasta more prone to tearing, which will undo all of your hard work. One brand that’s very much solved this problem, according to Nicholson, is Marcato Atlas, an Italian company that’s been making these pasta machines since 1930. “There’s a hand-cranked version, which is fun if you are with someone else or even by yourself,” she says, and they’re reliable enough for even the biggest batches.
Rolling cutter
Tumblr media
LaGondola Professional Pasta Cutter Wheel, Ravioli Cutter
Another pasta-making tool that’s worth investing in is a rolling cutter. “You wind up using them so much in pasta-making that you don’t want the cheapo, stainless-steel ones,” says Nicholson. Also, because those lesser-quality ones are “not ergonomically comfortable, they don’t have the ability to cut nearly as well.” That’s why she likes this brass one from LaGondola with a wooden handle, which is heavy enough to smoothly and evenly slice through dough without tweaking your hand unnecessarily.
Kitchen scale
Tumblr media
Ozeri ZK14-S Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale
If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times: Kitchen scales are a game changer – and that’s especially true when you’re working with pasta. Feinstein that while making pasta is mostly about technique and eyeing ingredients, a little precision doesn’t hurt. “Weighing your ingredients instead of estimating by volume will help you reach perfect pasta dough every time,” she says.
Pasta bike
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Pasta Cutter Bike
Nicholson has what she describes as a love-hate relationship with the pasta bike, but the trick to making friends with this funny-looking gadget is to not think of it as a cutter but as a scorer. It’s not going to cut through every line, consistently and firmly because it has so many moving parts. But it’s a handy tool for “anything that needs essentially, like, fairly precise squares or rectangles — like garganelli or cannelloni — or really anytime you want to cut a lot of something quickly.” Just remember to go over the scored lines with your nice, smooth rolling cutter.
Bench scraper
Tumblr media
OXO Good Grips Multi-purpose Stainless Steel Scraper
Another must-have tool is a bench scraper, for dividing dough evenly and even helping to mix ingredients, and Nicholson’s absolutely favorite one is the Campbell’s dough knife. It is hand-forged by a man in the United Kingdom, and Nicholson describes it as nonstick and “virtually indestructible.” However, you must also order it from this man’s Instagram account. A more readily available option that we like is OXO’s stainless-steel scraper, which isn’t hand-forged but is reliably sturdy, especially for the occasional pasta-maker.
Wooden board
Tumblr media
John Boos R02 Maple Wood Edge Grain Reversible Cutting Board
While you can certainly roll out your pasta directly onto your counter, a wooden board or cutting board is helpful as a work surface. “Something with a natural finish is ideal for kneading and rolling out pasta, no matter the type,” Feinstein says. “The porous material will absorb excess moisture when kneading your dough and rolling out sheets, and the friction from the natural finish will make hand-rolled shapes like orecchiette and cavatelli a breeze.”
Ravioli tray
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Ravioli Tablet Pasta Maker
If you’re new to making pasta but have your heart set on mastering ravioli, Nicholson recommends this tray, which is both easier to use than a ravioli pin and creates less waste. “The ravioli tablet actually has the perforations on an overlay. You roll a pin over, and the pin in conjunction with those perforations actually cut the ravioli in one movement, rather than having a step to cut afterward.” Feinstein adds that if you don’t want to spend money on a ravioli tray, use a cookie cutter or a flutted cutter for square ravioli.
Stainless-steel round cutter set
Tumblr media
Ateco 5357 Plain Edge Round Cutters in Graduated Sizes
These stainless-steel round cutters are great if you’re making tortellini or cappelletti — pasta shapes that start with circular pieces of dough and are then shaped — but they’re also nice to keep in the kitchen, more generally. “You can use them for everything: biscuits and cookies and pasta and making funny Halloween shapes of things for my kids; they come in very handy. I think, just in general, having a set of nesting circular cutters comes in very handy,” says Nicholson.
Pasta stripper
Tumblr media
Eppicotispai Garganelli and Gnocchi Stripper
If you need to make textured pastas, you need a pasta stripper, which allows you to roll the dough over a ridge surface.”One of my favorite pastas to make from scratch is gnocchetti sardi (Sardinian gnocchi),” says Feinstein. “You roll the flour/water-based dough against a ridged board to create texture, which is perfect for catching sauce. The board can also be used for making garganelli, a hand-formed penne pasta.”
Sheet pans
Tumblr media
Nordic Ware Natural Aluminum Commercial Baker’s Half Sheet (2 Pack)
Once your pasta is cut and shaped, you need a place to store it or let it dry out a bit, especially if you’re not eating it all at once. And the easiest way to do this is to lay out your pasta on a sheet pan. Nicholson recommends getting full-size sheet pans if you can because “you have more pasta-drying power with that.” But if space is a constraint, or you want something a little more versatile, get a half-pan. And though you don’t need them to be super durable, since you’re just laying out pasta on them and letting them dry, she recommends keeping a set just for pasta so that the pans don’t warp from the heat of the oven.
Tumblr media
Nordic Ware Half Sheet Cover
You can also buy a lid for your half-sheet, which makes it easier to store fresh pasta in the fridge or take it on the road, if you’re traveling to someone else’s house for dinner. Just be sure to buy the lid integrated with the pan, from the same brand, otherwise they might not fit.
Spray bottles
Tumblr media
Empty Amber Glass Spray Bottles with Labels (2 Pack)
A little water goes a long way, whether it’s getting the right consistency for your dough, keeping your pasta sheets from drying out as you work, or sealing your filled shapes. A few spritzes from a spray bottle is usually all you need, and as long as you’re using small increments, you’ll never have to worry about over-saturating dough.
Pastry bags
Tumblr media
Ateco 4721 Disposable Decorating Bags, 21-Inch, Pack of 100
Using large pastry bags (no tip necessary, just cut the corner) to pipe your fillings will give you more control and expand the types of stuffed pastas you can make at home since some shapes, like agnolotti and ravioli all’uovo, require it. Plus, no mess!
Parchment paper
Tumblr media
Reynolds Cookie Baking Sheets Non-Stick Parchment Paper
You don’t want to lay out pasta straight on the metal sheet pan because it will almost definitely stick, so be sure to put down a piece of parchment paper first. Nicholson likes precut sheets, for ease of use.
Plastic wrap
Tumblr media
Reynolds Wrap 914 PVC Film Roll With Cutter Box, 18-Inch
“I feel very strongly about plastic wrap,” says Nicholson — so much so that she keeps an 18-inch roll of the stuff mounted underneath her kitchen cabinets for ease of use. When you’re making pasta, you’re using a lot of plastic wrap to keep fresh dough from drying out. “You’re always pulling it down, your hands are floury, so trying to get out a little tiny box and finagle and work with the box while you’re, you know, in the middle of needing an extra pair of hands anyway is not a pleasant thing.” And the reason Nicholson likes the 18-inch-wide plastic wrap is because it’s the same width as her half-sheet pans. “So when you’re talking about a half-pan, you can go across the short direction of a half-pan.”
Stackable food-drying trays with nets
Tumblr media
Eppicotispai Beechwood Stackable Food Dryer With Net
Though drying pasta and letting it rest on a sheet pan is more than sufficient for most types of pasta, for filled pasta like ravioli, it can be nice to let these more delicate pastas rest on a food-drying tray with a net. “Even if you’re lining the sheet pan with parchment and sprinkling it with semolina, if you’re, you know, working slow and you have it out at room temperature, filled pasta will still occasionally stick to the parchment,” says Nicholson. “The airy drying racks do circulate airflow beneath, and they’re very handy for room-temperature drying over a period of time — say, like an hour, hour and a half.” It’s also nice for a little nest of tagliatelle, since the airflow ensures that “it doesn’t clump down there on the bottom like it would with a sheet pan.” Barring that, Feinstein says using generous amounts of semolina on a sheet pan is also a good way to prevent sticking.
Drying rack
Tumblr media
Acacia Pasta Drying Rack
Since she’s making so much pasta, Nicholson has a bespoke drying system in her kitchen, made by mounting long wooden dowels from the hardware store underneath her kitchen cabinets. But the plug-and-play solutions work if you’re not willing to install more kitchen gear. “I use those for any pasta that is like a long-noodled pasta, like fettuccine, tagliatelle, lasagna, pappardelle. And even if I’m ultimately going to nest those pastas, meaning wrap them into the little coils and set them on a drying tray or sheet pan, I still tend to hang them for a few minutes just so that they can develop a little bit of a skin on the exterior so that when I nest them, they, like, don’t stick together.”
Stockpot
Tumblr media
Demeyere John Pawson Stockpot, 8.5-Quart
Once your pasta is made, it’s time to cook it. For that task, Nicholson likes this stockpot from Demeyere. “It’s extremely even, and it cooks really well,” she says. “Also, I cook on induction, so it’s important to me, obviously, that something is magnetic.”
Tumblr media
Cuisinart 766-24 Chef’s Classic 8-Quart Stockpot With Cover
However, if you don’t want to spend over $400 on a stockpot, or don’t need to worry about having induction-friendly cookware, any 8.5- or eight-quart stockpot will do, like this well-reviewed one from Cuisinart for under $50.
Spider strainer
Tumblr media
Helen Chen’s Asian Kitchen Stainless Steel Spider Strainer
Nicholson uses one of these spider strainers to drop the pasta into her stockpot full of (salted!) boiling water and to gently remove once it’s done. Using this tool is easier than trying to dump out a gallon of hot water into a colander and is less violent than pulling out a strainer from a dual-immersive stockpot, which can be hard on the pasta. “It’s funny; whenever I teach workshops, I realize that I touch the pasta like it’s a baby. I’m gentle with it,” says Nicholson, because “you put so much work into it, and you want the end result to really be the very best it can be.”

“I feel very strongly about plastic wrap,” says Nicholson — so much so that she keeps an 18-inch roll of the stuff mounted underneath her kitchen cabinets for ease of use.

Interior Design Ideas: Tailored Interiors
Certain homes are made to be carefully admired and I feel this newly-built family home is one of them.
According to the interior designer, Traci Connell of Traci Connell Interiors, this project was completed for a tight-knit family in the heart of Dallas, TX. They desired a home  that looked lush and glamorous yet would be livable when their large, sports fanatic family came over to throw a watch party. The clients were looking for the perfect home to call their own and found this beautiful spec home that met all their needs. They then hired the designer to furnish the entire home from top to bottom.
Find a comfy seat, start pinning and dream away. These tailored interiors should leave you inspired for days!
  Interior Design Ideas: Tailored Interiors
In contrast to the couple’s previous Olde World red and gold embellished home in Frisco, Texas, the clients were searching for a light filled soft modern feel which they found in this high end spec home.
