Imagine Mogar getting mad when anyone tries to wear his pelt, but David doesn’t know this when they start dating. And at one point, he puts it on to be cute and he’s all like “Look, I’m Mogar! :D”

And Xray and Vav see him and are like “NO WAIT STOP” but then Mogar enters the room before they can explain to David. And Mogar sees David wearing the pelt, with a big smile on his face, and Mogar’s just

And he proceeds to loudly proclaim that his David is adorable, while Xray and Vav look on like “Seriously, who IS this and what happened to the terrifying bear man who once threatened to toss Xray out the window if he so much as LOOKED at him wrong??”

I can’t stop thinking about poly AshVavXray

I imagine that it starts out with Vav and Ash dating, and Xray (having learned a bit from the events of season two) is happy for them. And he’s started to work on his jealousy and abandonment issues, and he’s actually getting a lot better about both. But he still feels this annoying, nagging feeling at the back of his mind, almost like he’s still jealous of them. And he doesn’t like that, because he is genuinely happy for the two of them and his and Vav’s friendship is stronger than ever. 

So why does he still feel this really negative, almost longing feeling in his chest every time he sees them being cute together?

He tries to push it back, and remain happy for them. Because he really is happy for them and they make a nice couple and he’s glad Vav is happy. But he can’t shake that feeling no matter how hard he tries, to the point where it gets too overwhelming to ignore.

Meanwhile, on the opposite side of things, Vav’s feeling a similar feeling whenever he and Xray are together. At first he thinks it’s just the aftereffects of their restored friendship and he’s just loving his buddy moreso than usual because being separated from him was absolutely terrible and....well, despite everything, he missed him a lot. It’s understandable to feel this need to want to be closer to his best friend after all that, right?

He thinks that at first, but the feeling of just...wanting to be close to Xray and that warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest he gets whenever he sees Xray doing the simplest of tasks or just being himself doesn’t fade after a few weeks. At that point, he starts to get concerned because...is he actually falling for Xray? But he’s dating Ash, and he still loves her dearly and his feelings for her haven’t faded at all. If anything, they’re similar to the feelings he has for...Xray...

Needless to say, both boys are going through a severe mental panic for similar reasons, and Vav decides to talk to an unbiased third-party (Rusty) about how he feels. Rusty, who I now headcanon as poly himself, suggests that Vav talks to Ash about whether or not she’d be okay with that kind of thing, then talking to Xray about the same topic if his feelings for Xray really are romantic and if Ash is comfortable with it. While Rusty doesn’t know much about a lot of things, he knows that communication is important in this situation and you gotta make sure everyone involved is at the same levels of comfort when it comes to a relationship like this.

Meanwhile Xray decides the best approach to this situation is to bottle up all his emotions and then die with them one day, so he’s only getting worse as he attempts to ignore his feelings for Vav, going so far as to lash out at Hilda one day as a result.

Of course, he does feel pretty bad for it almost immediately, and explains to her why he did it. That he’s apparently in love with his best friend, who HAS A GIRLFRIEND, and that he was worried about messing up their friendship again with his stupid jealous feelings. Because he knows now that those feelings are his problem, not Vav’s or Ash’s, but at the same time, he just doesn’t know what to do.

Meanwhile, Vav decides to be brave and go talk to Ash about how he feels. That he does still love her with all his heart, but he also loves Xray. And he’s absolutely positive that it’s a romantic attraction, he’s spent several weeks trying to figure that out. And he understands if Ash would prefer to not date someone who is polyamorous, but he thinks he might be, and-

Ash gently shushes him with a kiss on the cheek and a smile, assuring him that it’s more than okay. She, admittedly, kind of had a feeling something like this was the case (she is a reporter, after all, and she tends to pick up on small details. She didn’t miss the way Vav would stare at Xray with a fond little smile, or how close the two of them had gotten since the incident with the Mad King. And she’ll be nothing but supportive if Vav wants more than one romantic partner.

Of course, he starts crying at how wonderful she is and kisses her, muttering to himself how he got so lucky to have such an amazing girlfriend, and a lot of his fears and worries fade in an instant. At least any surrounding her, because he still has to talk to Xray about how he feels, and that’s...a whole other story. Ash offers to be with him when he goes and talks to Xray, but he says that it’s something he’d prefer to do alone.

Meanwhile, Hilda’s advice to Xray is to just ‘talk to him, you lovesick fool’ and of course, Xray thinks that’s terrible advice. He JUST got his best friend back after his dumb jealousy almost tore them apart for good. It’s HIS problem, not Vav’s, and he’s not going to ruin Vav and Ash’s relationship just because he wants to be with Vav.

Needless to say, he’s not feeling so hot when he leaves Hilda’s lab and heads home, where Vav has been waiting for half an hour in a nervous fit. He’s so worried about what Xray will say, and terrified of losing his best friend again.

And they just kinda lock eyes when Xray enters the room, silent for a moment before Vav gestures for him to come sit by him because he needs to talk.

Xray nods and approaches him, a new fear overwhelming him for a brief instant. Had Hilda told Vav about their talk? Was Vav about to reject him? No, she wouldn’t do that, would she? But what if Vav found out another way? God, he was about to lose his best friend again, this time for good.

Before Vav can say a word, Xray’s emotions just start spilling out of him before he can stop himself and he pretty much admits to everything as he paces back and forth in front of him. That he likes Vav, that he understands that Vav and Ash are still together and he swears he doesn’t want to get in the way of that. He doesn’t have any bad feelings towards Ash and he’s happy for the two of them and doesn’t want them to break up or anything, he just...wishes he could be happy with Vav like that, too.

He talks for a long time (or maybe it’s no time at all, he can’t tell) before he sinks into the spot next to Vav with his head in his hands. He can’t look at Vav, he’s so terrified of what he’ll see in Vav’s expression, and the silence that follows isn’t reassuring. He just wishes Vav would say something, anything. 

Finally he does, and he tells Xray that he thinks he might be polyamorous.

That...is not what Xray was expecting at all, and he finally looks at Vav again as he continues to speak. He tells Xray about the conversation he and Ash had earlier, and how she’s fine with him being in relationships with other people, and was nothing but supportive.

Confused, Xray just nods with the mental question of where Vav was going with this. Vav takes one of his hands and admits that he thinks he might be poly is because while he still loves Ash with all his heart, he’s been having similar feelings towards Xray for a while now. And he wouldn’t mind being in a relationship with both of them, if Xray is comfortable with the idea. 

He understands if he isn’t; this is all new to Vav and he’s still kind of trying to figure it out too so he understands if Xray isn’t able to handle dating someone who’s also dating someone else. Polyamory isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. But he isn’t mad at Xray for how he feels, and he definitely doesn’t want to lose his best friend again.

Xray is in shock for a moment, before he breathes a huge sigh of relief and goes ‘Oh, thank GOD’ and kisses Vav right on the mouth and says that he doesn’t care if Vav dates a million people, he’s just happy if he’s one of them. Also he playfully threatens to punch Vav in the arm if he makes fun of him for getting gross and sappy like that because he’s got a reputation to uphold so Vav can’t be broadcasting that kind of stuff to the city.

Vav laughs and they kiss again, this time not stopping until Ash texts Vav, asking how things went. With a smile, Vav takes a picture of the two of them and sends it to her, with the caption ‘you know...got a boyfriend now :)’.

Ash responds back with a bunch of happy emojis and says she’ll let them be for now, but she’ll text Vav later on. Maybe they could all meet up and discuss their new overall relationship and figure some things out together.

Both are fine with that and go back to kissing as soon as Vav sends the text.

XaV things that have been at the forefront of my mind for quite some time, in a jumbled mess:

AU where season 3 goes the RW//BY route and Xray gets killed by the Mad King right in front of Vav

Further on that idea, Vav asks Hilda to modify his costume so it’s green and black instead of his usual colors. Maybe he also requests to change his powers to a bow-and-arrow that shoots xrays instead of arrows. And it’s like Jaune’s whole ‘It’s from a friend’ bit :’)

Him and Mogar go on a long hero journey to kill the Mad King

Vav’s time manipulating powers, only he’s able to control it better so he can slow down everything around him and just move at normal speed.

Mark Nutt as a villain who kills with arrows. Also easily applies to that first AU idea :3c

Matt as a character who can turn into fire like the Human Torch (because his fiery hair)

I still wish Risemonger could have been a villain, and there was like...a game show of doom episode. Maybe he’d be like Mettaton.

Also I think I had an idea where Vav somehow gets turned into a werewolf and everyone’s trying to change him back while he’s trying not to hurt people when he transforms. Typical werewolf idea.

There’s a lot with Vav here. I love him oops.
