Fair Warning: This post is very rambly. Super fucking long. And has a bunch of paragraphs about topics that to be quite frank deserve their own post. This is me TLDRing like 7 different essays because I have a lot to say and can't shut the fuck up but this is despite it all still a tumblr post.
The fact that SSO exists at all in the year 2023 is not an achievement in and of itself.
That's the TLDR to this post I'm about to write because that's basically what I think, but there is a longer discussion to have here. And I think it's a discussion worth having because despite it all we still live in a world where gender makes people irrationally fucking mad, and so therefore here I am to talk shit about a horse game which I have called mediocre all day.
Well, if you don't want to read this entire thing, here's all you need to know:
If Animal Crossing in the year of 2020 can define the first year of the pandemic for basically half the internet, then SSE can optimise their game a little better in the year 2023.
And here's wonderwall: (But before wonderwall, obvious disclaimer that I'm just one cis not-het woman Swede who has opinions about things, I'm not going to solve centuries of oppression on my fucking tumblr dashboard. Neither are SSE gonna solve it, nor immortalise it, with their mediocre MMO, we all know this we are smart, let's go.)
To SSO's credit, I think it's nice that SSE has wholly embraced the fact that they are a very feminine game primarily played by and targeted towards young girls, despite it all we still need more of that, and it's cool that they're trying the most. (Just wish they wouldn't completely throw their especially above average transmasc audience under the bus for  this but that is genuinely not my post to make as I am not transmasc and this post isn't about that, but all I'm saying is that SSE aren't flawless and I was here for both 2011 and 2022 so I happen to know when they literally lie about why this game was created in the first place.)
However,
There is a difference between "We want to bring quality to this audience which usually doesn't get quality" and "Because we're the only ones targeting this audience we don't need to worry about quality". Settling for the latter, especially today, isn't actually that progressive nor is it helping anyone, especially if we're talking about the game's general quality.
So, I know that talking about like, what is a "good" game or whatever will always be a wall to wall conversation, because everyone has different ideas of what good means. (see: Some people going "I enjoy this so it's good" and some going "I enjoy this but it Isn't good" at Dorian's poll) This isn't a problem at all it's simply how the human experience works. However, if we're talking about the good as in "objective" quality, then I think we need to remember something.
It's not 2011 anymore, and being a girls game, standalone, isn't an achievement anymore. We expect some fucking effort by now.
We don't live in a world where you as an 8 year old kid have to pick between playing COD or playing SSO exclusively (a choice made in 2011 by me as an 8 year old for reference, I literally was there, don't worry). We have a lot wider a selection of games to choose from, and we live in an industry which has also gotten a Lot better at actually celebrating less traditionally masculine games.
For example, Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, to name two examples, would probably be pretty dismissed in 2011, had they released then, because they're games that in general are seen as more feminine. (Slower, cute aesthetics, about farming, has cute little guys in them in AC's case.) But nowadays, they're some of the most popular games around, and they're games that most people, regardless of gender, have played. And obviously people still make fun of them, but it isn't cool to make fun of them anymore. Y'all remember when everyone and their mother was playing New Horizons as it came out during the perfect time for everyone to play it just as the pandemic started? And that's a really feminine game if we want to divide games into feminine and masculine, which we at the end of the day will do because humans are obsessed with binary opposition. And it still defined a whole year for a whole bunch of people!
And obviously you might say that it's unfair to compare little ol' SSO to these games. And it is. If we're comparing them as games on a technical equal ground. But we're not. I'm exemplifying that games that are more feminine/played by a lot of women don't have to suck.
So by, conciously or subconciously, implying that SSO Can't be as good as other games or Shouldn't Be Expected To Be simply because women's games just Are worse, you're dismissing the fact that feminine games Do succeed, especially recently. Not only on the market, but as entertainment. And no matter what game you make, no matter what damn resources you have, you better make sure that your audience can fucking play it with the specs you yourself recommend. Because letting a company get away with settling for mediocrity further normalises girls' games not needing to be as good because they're already so shit that someone even trying is good enough. Which in 2023, is Not good enough. Even young girls deserve not to shill out tens of thousands, which they Do Not Have, for super PCs just because SSE forgot to optimise their open world game.
Lastly, all I'm saying is that if we're going to say "Yes, SSO is good." Don't follow it up with "Compared to women's games from 2005 that are so dead nobody remembers them anymore." Because SSO is a game that exists in 2023, and at some point we have to acknowledge that. And if this game wants to survive another decade, I think the first people who need to move away from 2011, is its audience.
Women’s games don’t have to suck. And implying that they do says more about you than it does about the game. Especially if your idea of “good standard” for women’s games. are almost 20 years old. At some point, we All have to move into the present times. Even if your game of choice is a little behind.

please tell me about cal, love that little bastard
oHHHHHHOHOHOOHHO YES. OK. I WILL. IVE BEEN WAITING 10 YEARSTO BE ASKED THIS VERY QUESTION.
so ok so. Uh heavy Heavy TW for like themes of suicide and mental illness and stuff ahead. I’m sorry I would avoid it but it is genuinely impossible to talk about this story without them, bc that’s literally the central theme of it. But. Okok.
Sso Cal is one of my fav characters ever, he was originally created as like, a tragic backstory for Kimu-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Kimu is this guy)
-so like, literally created to die. And he’s always been sort of a sad character. I made him when I was like 11 and edgy so he was an emo childhood friend of Kimu’s who takes his life, sending Kimu on a downward spiral. Like that was the original story basically.
Then as time passed I started developing the story, added more character and Cal got to have a personality, but he still dies. More time passes and I start to really like Cal, and bc his death is like, the most important part of the story, he sort of becomes the “main character”. Then in like 2023 I decided I actually didn’t want him to die, partially because I felt bad and partially bc at the time I really didn’t like the idea of having a character like him ending that way. like. Thematically I just didn’t like it.
So now he’s alive, the meta narrative has decided that he should live. I change it up so he has a suicide attempt, but survives it and gets his shit together after bc he’s now realized he likes being alive even though it sucks sometimes.
There’s a lot of like, actually in narrative drama happening in this version of the story. He’s got a crappy home life, he’s got gender dysphoria, he’s in a weird love triangle with like three of his friends. Usual stuff. Up to this point it’s sort of been a sad version of a slice of life, like. Sort of similar to bojack horseman I’d say, if I was to compare it to anything. I like stories like that but tbh they’re sort of uninteresting to describe.
ANYWAY HERES WHERE THE TIME LOOP IS INTRODUCED.
so at some point I was thinking about how Cal was a doomed character for so long, then got like. a second chance to live. Bc I felt bad about killing him. And then because I love Groundhog Day more than any normal person should, I went “omg what if there was a time loop type thing. Or like a time reset. Or something. Like a single time loop.” And then I was like omg bc now there’s more to the story than just a straight linear narrative.
So now there’s two stories for the price of one. Cal’s first chance, and Cal’s second chance.
So first chance is way more similar to the earlier one I described, before he gets his fate changed. His life in his first chance sucks. He’s being treated badly at home, he’s being treated badly at school, he’s an asshole so all his friends sort of hate him, he’s ruined several peoples lives just sort of by existing in them. Terrible. A lot of the bad stuff that he goes through is also entirely his fault like he really really sucks here. He drives all his friends away besides Kimu, who is extremely patient and also Cal is his best friend.
Kimu is the one to confront Cal #1 (I’m just gonna call this Cal, Cal #1 now. So it’s easier to understand what I’m talking about bc time stuff is weird and confusing.) and Cal #1, worlds worst guy, just completely loses it on him. He pushes him into a shelf, which causes Kimu to actually get hurt, and Kimu is obviously shocked and angry, so he storms out and tells Cal they’re done. Cal #1, realizing he’s fucked up, is like “well I’ve hurt literally everyone in my life irreparably. Guess I’ll die.”
Ofc old pal Kimu, feeling off about the argument like an hour later, comes back to apologize. Unfortunately this is change #1, so it’s too late. Last thing Cal #1 processes is Kimu freaking tf out. He ends up dying at 19, like days before he turned 20.
So on that cheery ending, Cal wakes up. This time it’s Cal #2 though. He wakes up and realizes that he is a baby, he’s back at his old house, and he is a baby. The thing is though, he has all his memories from his first life. This makes him, first of all, and incredibly intelligent baby. (He still has baby brain though, not the brain of a 19 year old. That would be a whole different world of problems.) But second of all, he is REALLY REALLY weirded out and uncomfortable.
He freaks out for the first couple years of his new life, which is the exact same as his old life except now he has cheat codes. Then around the age of like, 5, he has the realization that he has cheat codes, and if he can map everything that went wrong in his first life, he might actually be able to change his outcomes. so he does that, he does that for awhile. At this point most of the external things are the same. He’s best friends with Alex, he becomes friends with Kimu via Alex, it’s all the same.
Tumblr media
Kimu, Alex, and Cal in that order ^^^ (It’s also worth noting that while he overtime is able to address a lot of his shittiness as being shitty, and him being to blame for most of it. he can’t seem to see Kimu as a victim of his crappy behaviour. He even still sort of resents him for how things went, bc first life Kimu was sort of a dick too.)
so anyway things are normal the first like maybe 6 years after that too. He changes some of the big things that went wrong in his early life, he avoids some people he knows are bad news now, which also stops his mom from going criminal (long story. She’s a shit mom most of the time but she’s still protective, and will still do anything for her kid.) he thinks this might save her from dying, he actually does everything he can to prevent her death. It doesn’t. None of it works. She dies differently, this time of a sickness rather than suicide. She also dies later on in the story this time. We’ll come back to this.
anyways, it’s around this point Yami and Amelia get introduced. Amelia is Cal #1’s greatest sin, she’s the person he really fucked over, and it’s to the point where Cal #2 doesn’t even think he should talk to her. Yami is Amelia’s cousin and Kimu’s childhood best friend, though they had a falling out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yami and Amelia. Yami is the husky, Amelia is the spaniel.)
In the first life, Yami also dies. Completely unrelated to Cal, like they barely even knew each other. Yami died because of a prank gone wrong, done by some bullies.
However this really started off Cal #1’s downward turn, because this incident totally fucked up both Kimu and Amelia, and Kimu being all fucked up is partially what drove Alex away. (The other part was Cal’s fault LOL). Kimu got really withdrawn and aggressive, wanting revenge for what happened. Amelia got weird and withdrawn, and starts focusing on getting into this prestigious arts college way harder than before, and Cal, who doesn’t fully understand grief or why people feel it, figures maybe it’s because her parents are awful and controlling (and like. Ok they are. But. They don’t gaf about her grades or studies. He just totally misread the situation.)
He’s also mad that she’s not hanging out with him, or doing the weird chaotic stuff that they used to do all the time. He tells her she just needs to unwind, and let go of the expectations put upon her. Amelia is reluctant at first, but then as she unwinds, she starts to get way more crazy than she ever was before bc of all the shit she’s been bottling up. They do some extremely dangerous shit, on what is basically a bender, and then he ends up crashing the car bc he wasn’t watching the road. They get arrested, she’s now disabled, her parents disown her, she loses her scholarship, and it’s all mostly his fault. He’s too emotionally stunted to even properly apologize.
Tumblr media
(Illustration of about how he responded to all this)
She tells him she’ll kill him if she sees him again, and that’s the end of their relationship in the first life.
Back to the second life. Cal peer pressures Yami into letting him come to hang out with him and his bullies (the ones who ended up accidentally slashing him). Yami relents, but is really uncomfortable because he doesn’t know this guy. Flash forward a few hours, the bullies do the prank, but this time because Cal is there, Yami doesn’t die. This incident leads to two things happening. 1) Yami connecting enough dots to vaguely remember his first life. Not as clearly as Cal, but now he’s suspicious. 2) Cal and Yami becoming friends.
Yami ends up later introducing Cal and Amelia, and they end up becoming friends, though for a long time Cal tries to keep her at arms length. This is hard bc they get along really well.
eventually he gives in and they become besties again, but without all the trauma and horrors. This is great, and this is around when Cal starts to think he’s actually done well. He’s 19, he’s sort of awkwardly repaired his relationship with his mom, all his friends are happy and alive, everyone’s closer than ever. Like things are going REALLY well.
Anyway remember earlier when I mention his mom dies in both lives? Yeah so. When he’s 19, she dies of a sickness that he thought was improving. It’s really sudden, and it really trips him out. Not only is he just actually devastated, but now he starts wondering if some things are just bound to happen. He worked so hard to change her fate, and she still died relatively young and unexpectedly.
Then he finds out it technically wasn’t the sickness that killed her. She did it to herself because she realized it was getting worse, and she would probably die from it, and decided she’d rather die in a way she self was dignified. She didn’t tell him any of that.
Now he’s really like. “Oh god maybe things are just meant to happen.” this undoes a lot of the work he did on himself throughout this life, and he reverts back into a similar weird jerk that he was before. Less destructive obviously, but he withdraws, he starts ghosting everyone, he doesn’t leave his apartment. Eventually Kimu rolls up to confront him, and remember when I said Cal never grappled with how his actions affected Kimu, and how he still sort of resents him? Yeah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this happens.
It’s at this point he Finally, after nearly 20 years, realizes the one person who stuck by him at all times in both his lives, and the person he arguably hurt most, even more than Amelia.
And then he realizes that no matter how much he tried to change, it ended up like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he thinks back to his mom, and how some things just seem doomed. Kimu storms out in tears, just like how he did during Cal’s first chance, and Cal decides that he and his mom must share the same fate.
This is one day before the anniversary of his death. Fortunately this time Kimu didn’t actually leave. He waited outside Cal’s door for a few minutes, thinking about what just happened, and then decides something is off and comes back in to talk things out.
He catches Cal this time, right before he attempts, and stops him from doing anything. Ofc Kimu starts yelling at him, asking him what the hell he’s doing, but all Cal can think about is that for whatever reason: Kimu came back early. And more importantly, that before Kimu came back, he hesitated.
this is about when he has a realization that nothing is actually doomed, and that this whole he’s wanted nothing more than to live. He realizes he wanted to live so much it created a tear in time and space.
So then he gets therapy and starts actually properly living his life to the fullest.

🛩🛋🦋🏆📚🌪 )HOPE ITS NOT TOO MANY SDKLGDS)
LOL no worries!!! this ended up being a bit long so answers r under the cut >:3
🛩 [PLANE] -> Was your Original Character born on Jorvik or did they come here from somewhere else? If so, what was their reason to come to Jorvik?
nova (like me) is from canada! she actually came to jorvik at age 11 when she was scouted by the jorvik ballet company, and became interested in horseback riding when her ballet master took her and her fellow students to see the circus - she was enamoured by vaulting!
🛋 [COUCH W/ LAMP] -> Where does your Original Character live? As in, where do they reside - one of the many stables across the Jorvegian Peninsula, or do they own an apartment/home within one of Jorvik's Cities?
technically nova lives with mrs holdsworth (who is essentially her adoptive mother), and that's the address where she like. gets all her mail lol. holdsworth is also more or less the only person who is relatively up to date on nova's whereabouts at any given point (eg. she was the only one who knew where she was during nova's stint in the wildwoods). in practice, nova's a nomad, and can't handle staying in one place for too long. currently she's stabling her herd in valedale, in exchange for them being used in druid activities (this is really reluctant, but when you're low on funds, you havent got many options lol). oh, there was also a period of about a year during which she lived in the little shack at the unfortunate dews' farm! this was way before maya staked claim to the property, and they never ran into each other while maya was caring for the livestock there, but i like to think that, since they're friends, maya lets her crash there every once in awhile
🦋 [BUTTERFLY] -> Does your Original Character belong to any of the organisations or groups on Jorvik - Dark Core, the Keepers, the Rangers, the GED, one of the Stables, etc.?
there was a period of time (roughly three months) during which nova was employed by the rangers at redwood point. she's affiliated with the keepers, but isn't exactly happy about it. she's really close with the moorlands, and worked at their summer camp for a couple terms. she's also a guest instructor with the bobcats!
(i've already answered the trophy one so i'm gonna skip it to avoid being redundant)
📚 [BOOK STACK] -> What is your Original Character's story? Not just in SSO's canon main story - what is your Character's deal in general?
this is a wonderful question that i would love to answer in great detail, but i honestly dont think i can! i would say it needs its own post, but i think nova's life story is one that will be revealed (to everyone, including me) over time, through answering small questions, creating art, and making tweaks over time in compliance with (or defiance against) the existing canon of SSO (which is an ever shifting beast, but i genuinely enjoy the challenge!) essentially, i'd say that nova came to the island as a kid, experienced a falling out with her family, and never went back. there was a period of a few years (2016-2023, aka when i stopped playing the game and got the sudden inexplicable urge to come back) during which she travelled the world at large, but never went back to canada. at that time, she split her herd between the moorlands and herman to employ as lesson horses. it's been a labour of love for her to restore her bond with each of them as individuals. i havent figured out her in-canon reason for coming back to the island yet unfortunately! she also had a "love interest" (comp het) several years ago who experienced a tragic demise, and is the reason she left the island to begin with
🌪 [TORNADO] -> Does your Original Character have any traumas or fears that stem from something that happened to them on Jorvik? Have they been confronted with something that left them scarred (mentally or physically)?
yes! yes. the aforementioned "love interest" is absolutely one. she broke her foot at the moorland's summer camp which meant that she couldnt dance anymore, and also spurred her falling out with her parents. nova also has lingering issues with her eyesight in her left eye, following an accident involving a cross country course and a thorn bush (which is based on an injury from my irl cross country days lol)
thank you for the questions!!!! i love talking about my fucked up baby girl

Top 5 Customer Identity And Access Management Software Of 2024
Tumblr media
You see, CIAM or Customer Identity & Access Management, functions much like the Sorting Hat. It examines an individual's identity against their unique credentials stored in a database, ensuring the person is who they claim to be (no Polyjuice Potion here!) and keeping impostors out of the system.
CIAM Software also categorizes users into their appropriate "house" (access level) based on their roles, preferences, and previous interactions. However, unlike the Sorting Hat, CIAM Software continually monitors user journeys, adjusting permissions as needed to ensure the right people access the right resources at the right times, while keeping out impostors.
So, read on for the top 5 Customer Identity And Access Management Software of 2024!
Customer Identity And Access Management (CIAM) is a security strategy that allows organizations to securely manage their customers’ identities to control their access to applications, portals, and services. CIAM solutions offer a digital security layer in customer interactions, empowering users to secure their identities and data while managing their security preferences.
Customer Identity And Access Management (CIAM) Software simplifies this approach by streamlining the sign-up and log-in process for online applications and services. This helps in protecting data privacy, defending against identity theft and other types of fraud, as well as managing account profiles and security settings. Moreover, the solution helps businesses improve the customer experience while complying with data privacy mandates such as the GDPR.

Aragon Research Selected RPost as the Hot Vendor of the Year for eSignatures and Digital Transaction Management
What makes a “Hot” eSign Vendor “Hot” rather than “Hlēow”?
The next time you’re having a bad day (traffic, spilled coffee, didn’t get your full 8 hours of sleep, mixed up food delivery order), just think of what life was like for those living centuries ago in, say, medieval England. To quote the English philosopher, Hobbes, life then was “nasty, brutish, and short.” And this is coming from a guy who lived when indoor plumbing hadn’t been invented yet.
Tumblr media
Life expectancy for the average, non-land-owning medieval person was around 27 years! Even if you managed to live like (or be) a king, you were only going to add five or so years onto this expectancy. There are two not-too-surprising culprits for this: war and disease.
Yes, we still have plenty of war and disease going on in 2023, but these are fairly limited in scope and reach compared to what the average medieval person would experience. War touched nearly every person back then (there was the 100 Years War that raged between England and France), and disease was much more lethal and widespread. The Black Death of the mid-14th century wiped out almost half of Europe.
What made disease so much worse in that time was the fact that it was so darned cold everywhere. A small hearth fire was all that could keep families warm through months of brutal winters, and it’s not like anyone had any of those North Face down jackets. Heat was a life-sustaining luxury then that most of us consider now as an afterthought. Think about that the next time you wrestle with your co-worker over the office thermostat!
So, it’s with heat in mind that we at RPost are pleased to report that we were selected by one of the leading tech analysts, Aragon Research, as Hot Vendor of the Year for eSignatures and digital transaction management. In Part II of Aragon Research’s Hot Vendors for 2023 report, Aragon Research selected RPost as one of two eSignature / Digital Transaction Management vendors that are making an impact in the market as the most noteworthy, visionary, and innovative.
Medieval life was very much about tradeoffs: cheaper land vs. lower life expectancy, cleaner air vs. terrible roads. So, I would ask you: Would you prefer to work with an eSign provider that is fully integrated into Office 365, iManage, NetDocuments, Gmail, Caret, and with Google, Microsoft and AzureAD SSO?
Orwould you prefer to focus on an eSign provider that declares in its manifesto a commitment to feature-richness, security and privacy compliance, the highest levels of legalities, and an elegant user and admin experience?
Or perhaps you’d like to show off to your teams that you found an eSign provider that is friendlier to work with and costs less than half of what other large eSign vendors charge so you and they don’t need to ration or share user licenses?
With RSign, you’ll get ALL of this thanks to 21st century technology! If you choose to work with us, you can forego any future discomfort in being stuck with a “Hlēow” provider. (For the curious, “hlēow” is Old English for lukewarm).
And it gets better! As a testament to RPost’s service friendliness, if you are in an existing contract with another provider, we’ll even provide a “buyout” option that lets you ramp up RSign economically while your other provider fades out over whatever months are remaining. Plus, we’ve teams standing by to help you migrate any templates and create great automation rules.
Feel free to contact us to learn more about RSign, an eSignature platform so hot that I think it could have raised medieval life expectancy by at least 20 years or at least saved squires a ton on parchment costs 🤔.

What Happened to First Energy SSO Auction?

What Happened to First Energy SSO Auction?
How The First Energy SSO Auction Nearly Wasn’t
Don’t know what happened to the First Energy auction? Find out how the results affect your summer Ohio electricity rates and why NOPEC customers should shop cheap energy plans now.
There’s been some drama surrounding the First Energy SSO Auction on January 10th. For a while, it was looking like PUCO was going to postpone the auction. How is this affecting your Ohio electricity prices, and why is this such a big deal? What happened to the FirstEnergy SSO auction?
Electricity Prices Are Crazy For Everyone
Firstly, we should talk about the results of the auction. The final price agreed to by FirstEnergy was $97.70 per megawatt-hour. This auction will affect the price to compare come June of 2023. It is a lot better than the previous auction price from October, but it’s still expensive. There is still another auction in March that will determine the price to compare. Depending on the results of that auction, if you are on the standard service offer (SSO) you could see the cost of your electricity rise substantially.
Why Postpone the First Energy Auction?
This gets a little complicated. Last year, the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) dumped over half a million contracts onto the market. Their continued existence is still in legal limbo. The problem was for utilities that maintain the standard service offer in areas where NOPEC was an aggregator. Because they suddenly had to cover all the NOPEC customers, they had to purchase more electricity at after-auction prices. This increased costs. Since the legal problems with NOPEC have not been resolved, the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel attempted to postpone the auction until after a decision was made. The problem now is that the possible dissolution of NOPEC could lead to higher electricity rates for northeastern Ohio in the future.
How Can You Protect Yourself From Rising Prices
The biggest thing you can do is shop around for the best-priced electricity in your area. Rates are at a more comfortable level, making now a good time to shop for lower rates for the next year or longer. But with the spring shoulder months on the way, rates could fall lower still. Meanwhile, if you are in an area where NOPEC has acted an aggregator, keep an eye on the news. This legal battle is far from over, and won’t resolve overnight, and could drastically impact your electricity rates in the coming year.
Lock In A Low Rate Today
Ohio electricity rates are slowly coming down to the lowest they’ve been since last spring. Don’t delay on protecting your family from skyrocketing energy bills this year. If you’re struggling to keep your bills low, there’s a lot you can do besides switching your electricity supplier. You can try a whole bunch of great tips and tricks to make sure your Ohio electricity bills stay predictable. And be sure to shop all the best plans and lowest rates available at www.ohenergyratings.com

COMPLETE SSO TIMELINE
This is somewhat of a mix between in-game canon, book lore, deleted content and my own theories. There are a bunch of sources to pull from here and a lot of them are contradictory, so I’ll do my best to cite where the info comes from. I’m not including everything that ever happened, but most things that are relevant to the main story should be here!
I’ve mentioned it before, but my theory is that the main story takes place in 2025. Elizabeth has been stated to be 47 in previous quests. If she’s the same age as Catherine, then that would make her 19 in 1997, and thus 47 in 2025. This will be my reference for the “present day”, but obviously this could all be retconned by sso.
Spoiler warning before you proceed! I’m referencing the entire game and the sso books, including the ones not available in english. If you don’t want any spoilers for those, don’t read this post.
Creation of Jorvik: We don’t know when the whole “Aideen brings life to Jorvik” myth takes place, but there are cave drawings mentioned by Linda that dates it back to 23 000 BC.
The first known humans on Jorvik: The kallters supposedly come to Jorvik around 6 000 BC.
Jon Jarl colonises Jorvik: The 10 year anniversary-quizzes state that Jon Jarl arrived 1218 AD.
Rosalinda dies due to suspected witchcraft and Mr Sands gets recruited by Garnok: Mr Sands diary in The Legend Awakens confirms that this took place in 1798.
Miscellaneous soul rider antics: We know almost nothing about older sisterhoods, but we know that there was one in ~1940, with one member named Beatrice. She is mentioned as an old lady in Ghost Stories From Jorvik. In Aideens Gift Pi is also revealed to have once been a soul rider before she became a witch, although she is most likely from a more recent sisterhood, seeing as both she and her husband are still alive.
Mr Sands and the baroness get married and have Thomas: Older quests mention them getting married in 1964. The baroness says she hasn’t seen Mr. Sands in 45 years, meaning they likely got divorced ~1980.
The old sisterhood with Elizabeth, Eva, Caroline, Sigry and Catherine is created and falls apart: Catherine mentions graduating in 1997 in her journal, so the sisterhood could exist around 1993 – 1998. Caroline disappears shortly after Catherine leaves the soul riders, and the sisterhood completely breaks apart not long after.
Catherine dies after Justins birth: Justin is 20 in present day, which would make this take place in 2005.
Alex, Linda, Lisa and Anne discover their powers for the first time when Lisa moves to Jorvik, aka the first book trilogy: This is two years before the main story, in 2023.
Present day: 2025.
If you have any other confirmed years for Jorvik history, please share and I’ll add them!

Genuinely curious as to why sso has left so many interesting things/characters/areas untouched when making side quests. There are so many unfinished things around Jorvik. For example:
(Update as of December of 2023: I'll happily be crossing off some suggestions that were utilised in-game recently!)
-New Hillcrest girl that’s burying(?) something in her backyard but when you approach her she abruptly stands up like she’s hiding something. Well? Is she?
-Area near Dundull that you could unlock by reputation crunching. What did we even unlock it for? Just the star that was in it?
-More Redwood point/Wildwoods
-The Kallter
-Literally anyplace you can go using the bus has so many sketchy characters/secrets that are just sitting there.
-The mall needs an update. Also bring Raptor back.
-Fort Maria (imma just say I manifested this one when originally making this post)
-Ashland
-CHILL and ther fight against the G. E. D. ?
-Maybe time to utilize Jon Jarl’s ghost thingy in that cave near Fort Pinta? (Update: Called it!)
-The winter village was so lively because they added npcs and sounds. Maybe time to do that to other areas?
-The Rescue Ranch (also use the updated foal models)
-Thalia’s theatre
-What even is Bear Point exactly?
-Is that all for Mirror Marshes?
-What (and where) exactly is Everdale? Sonja mentioned it and its medieval festival once but we don’t know anything about it
-There’s a lot of areas on the map that are marked “undiscovered” yet we have either been there already (Prison Island-Pandoria) or have no idea how to get there/need bugs that have been patched in order to get there (Ancient grotto, area near Icengate, Bread island)
-We need more ferries and bridges and maybe the could make us work for them like the quest with the bridge from Nilmer’s Highland to Wolf Hall Inn, and the bridge from New Hillcrest to South Hoof
-Utilizing places like Pier 13, Jorvik City and Aideen’s Plaza. They were some of the first to get better looking appearances and they deserve better treatment imo
-NorthLink
-They literally just abandoned Maya and Eli at unfortunate Dew’s farm and called it a day huh?
-I feel like there’s still something that can be added to Golden Hills Valley (Especially Goldenleaf forest)
-This is not much of a "left to waste" thing, more of a "needs to be fixed" thing, but can they please remove Lisa's old picture of when she's trapped in Pandoria and everything old in quests -especially main story ones- that confuses new players? And I don't mean minor stuff like someone mentioning Horse Island. I'm talking Maya still being called May in certain quest dialogues and quest givers telling you to go places that don't exist anymore or describing locations that are heavilly altered.
And the list goes on. Feel free to add more because I’m genuinely curious about other stuff I left out/forgot about
