is that piece of media actually bad, or is it just not following the blueprint you projected onto it? is that work actually not good, or are you just demanding something from it that is absolutely antithetical to its themes, genre, tone, and narrative goal? is that story actually poorly written, or do you just dislike that it is not the specific things you wanted from it that it never set out to be, never was, and never is going to become? is it actually bad, or is it actually well-executed and you just dislike the story it chose to be because it isn't catering to your specific desires and expectations?

it's remarkable how good sanderson is at quickly setting up minor characters with one or two memorable traits and a name, to get them to stick in your head Just enough for their purpose. i suppose in a series like this he had to get good. still… something to learn

So a small update: I've been feeling sick from an upper respiratory infection. I also have an ear infection, which graduated to a ruptured eardrum.

NGL, it hurts like hell and Wednesday was my worst day.

I mean, I've had ear infections before but with the addition of the ruptured eardrum, it hurts like hell. At the same time, I haven't had an ear infection in such a long time, that I forgot how painful they were.

The affected ear's hearing is completely gone (temporarily) and I've noticed my equilibrium is off (not fun).

Anyways, I'm taking all the prescription medications and I'm slowly getting better.

I'm hoping to feel better and my ear to fully recover by Monday so I can go back to work.

I've had to leave early and miss Friday and that was my first week of work (which I know isn't a good look to be missing days on the first week).

I just wanted to give an update to what's going on.
