Thousand Year Door remake launches the day after tomorrow!! This is one of my all time favorite RPGs ever created, if you haven't had the pleasure of playing it yet I cannot recommend giving it a shot enough! To celebrate, here's a Hooktail!!
A friend of mine told me to draw something TTYD related, and usually I'd wait for the day of release. But I tried that with SMRPG's anniversary and I still haven't done the dragon I wanted to do for that day lol. So I thought I'd just do it when I had the idea lol
TTYD genuinely has some of my favorite combat, some of the coolest character designs and world designs, great writing with a cool story, and a wonderful soundtrack. I really hope everyone enjoys it and falls in love with it as much as I did when I first played it <3
It's been my favorite Paper Mario for YEARS and is easily in my top 3 Mario RPGs (next to SMRPG and BiS) and really is just one of my favorite RPGs in general. It's just SUCH an important game to me... You should play it and play 64 and play SPM and love your life...
idk i could gush about the Mario RPGs forever but I won't flood your feed with love for like... 20+ year old RPGs... but I could, just remember that. I always could, and I don't do it out of kindness to you.
#super mario bros#paper mario#paper mario the thousand year door#thousand year door#hooktail#fanart#dragon#dont worry i have an alt made but uh... yknow... just wait... just play the game. be patient.

Look the more I learn about Super Mario-Kun the less I really.. enjoy it??? Like I know there's a lot of stuff in it that isn't for me BUT like y'all do not understand I have been wanting any little CRUMBS of an official translation for the SPM arch for YEARS and we've just had it for 3-
....Chapter 5 of the Super Paper Mario Super Mario-Kun arch officially translated as "Beat 'em with Laughs! The Bros Face Off in Space!?" has been officially translated in english and just out in the world since 2020 in Super Mario Manga Mania and no one said anything about it huh....
#however I do enjoy that the LM3 arch is like#“Luigi yoinks Mario's painting from King Boo and books it” and I've wanted to draw some art for that concept for a while dshjgkfh#Still debating how i feel about the Luigi bait and switch at the end of the Odyssey arch it's very silly i haven't seen it in context thoug#I'm just here for Spm content that's all dshgjkdsgfdh#also the art style is cute dshgjkdnfh

34. “ Are you testing me? “
With Dimentio and Mr.L
Not 100% happy with this one, but I'm trying to bang these out!
Also, what it tense consistency, I never knew her hahahahaha
I do so love Dimentio, though.
SPM, takes place pre-Whoa Zone.
~~~~~~~~
He needs to know who he’s working with.
He needs to know what he’s working against.
The enemy is the hero, at least on paper. The one in red and his band of misfit friends, more story than person, a man tireless in his quest to collect the so-called Pure Hearts and forestall a future already foretold in the Dark Prognosticus.
He’d meet them soon enough.
~~~~~
Perfect worlds. That was the prize for serving the Count’s destructive whims.
Quite the incentive. Who wouldn’t want a reality to shape for themselves, to create an existence tailor-made for one’s own hopes, wants, and dreams?
The thing was, L thought, securing an instrument panel cover with a hard twist of his wrench.
The thing was, deals too good to be true were usually too good for a reason. (He knew this from experience. What experience exactly, he couldn’t quite articulate, the majority of his memories still floating around his brain like soggy cereal bits, misshapen and bloated past all recognition).
Perfect worlds didn’t manifest from nothing.
It was a law. The first law, in fact.
He must have missed something in translation. Again. This whole dimension, it seemed, communicated in metaphor, in meanings and symbolism that everyone could parse but him.
And maybe Bleck’s “perfect worlds” were just that. An ideal to strive after, a motivation, an existence excised of bad actors who threatened the fabrics of reality.
Or maybe he had landed himself in a cult.
It didn’t matter. Not really. There was a job to do, and he would do it.
He pulled on one of two large red levers, initiating a set of thrusters on their lowest setting. The reaction time was good, better than good.
But it wasn’t enough.
He might have to switch to a hypergolic bipropellant. It would be longer-lasting and eliminate the need for an ignition source. But it also would eat through its storage container faster, would heighten the risk of an all-systems implosion, if the engagement got protracted out in the field.
L wasn’t planning on letting the “hero” last more than five minutes forget fifty.
It would be fine.
There had to be more to Bleck’s offer. The stick to the carrot he hung over all their heads. People didn’t just hand out perfect realities, metaphorical or not. Same as they wouldn’t give away a bridge or even a mansion without some reason.
The real question was where the other shoe was hiding.
And when it was going to drop.
~~~~~~
He decides to start with O’Chunks.
In truth, he tried to start with Nastasia, but had received a stony refusal in response to the lightest of entreaties. Unsurprising, but a disappointment. She, along with the other one, had the most to plumb, to pick apart and piece back together.
Despite this, he had been able to gather some tidbits here and there. How her methods of persuasion were more about rearranging the furniture of the mind, of optimizing rather than overwriting. (After all, why should you keep the pans in the lower cupboard, if someone taller did the lion's share of the cooking?)
Maybe that wasn't the best explanation.
He thinks of the other analogy he had concocted, that of an audio engineer standing over a mixing board, Nastasia looming over some piece of equipment with large headphones over her perfectly coiffed hair. Lower inhibition. Fade memory. Add distortion to schemas.
The important thing was that it wasn't magic. Not really. Nastasia's brainwashing abilities, as the others so gleefully called it, was just another path for science to manifest, an evolutionary quirk of biology that allowed someone to tamper with neurology from across a crowded room.
Odd, yes, but ultimately understandable. Something he could wrap his head around and fit into the neat schematics he had started to draw out for this world.
~~~~~
L was a curious man. He knew that much about himself.
He wasn’t curious enough to approach the Count.
~~~~~
Of all of them, O’Chunks had provided the least amount of useful information. A typical enforcer-type, his preternatural levels of strength combined with a literal combustion engine of a stomach, the latter of which probably merited some form of investigation, if not for the fact its byproduct was a vile organic concoction that treaded just above the definition of “biological weapon.”
His arms, however, were a point of interest. Not for the heavy-packed layers of muscle (anyone could cultivate that, with enough work and steroids), but rather the way his upper limbs lacked visible continuity, flesh presenting in accordion-like chunks that stretched from bulky shoulders to large, gloved hands.
“There are weapons,” O’Chunks had said in his usual grumbling lilt, gazing at some distant point on the violent black-and-violet horizon. “That can deal far worse damage than etching a wee pretty picture on your skin.”
L would like to see those weapons some day, but he doesn’t push for more information. He still needs these people on his side.
For now.
~~~~~
Unlike O’Chunks and Nastasia, Mimi is more than happy to show off her shapeshifting abilities, morphing between bodies like a caffeine-poisoned chameleon. It’s weird to be faced with himself. Not the flat, mirror image he's already familiar with, but a true three-dimensional replication, one that breathes and moves just as he would - or at least as he thinks he would.
He (the other he that’s him and damn if that’s not confusing as all get-out) looks tired, dark circles digging under bright, intelligent blue eyes. If Mimi’s copy is accurate, it means he hasn’t shaved in a few days, although he has no recollection of that amount of time passing. L rubs at his mouth. The bit of stubble forming around his chin and cheeks does nothing to add years to his youthful appearance. He wonders if a mask might help to obscure his age, or at least minimize the fatigue that seems baked into his features.
If nothing else, he could look menacing, less mad scientist and more like those bad guys in movies set in the Old West. (The Old West of what, he asks himself, shaking the thought away).
He asks if she can shift into someone else based on a description or a drawing. Mimi shrugs, flitting through a series of outfits before landing on a bright fuchsia dress with ruby-red bowties on either shoulder. “Maybe,” she says, rearranging her two green pigtails, tying them off with matching ribbons. “But I’ve never really tried. I think I'd have to see the person for a proper shift. And you know, I don’t get their abilities or anything, just the looks.” She gives a high, piercing laugh. “Could you imagine? That’d be so gross.”
So gross and so powerful. But she’s right. If Mimi had been able to inherit the abilities of the people she shifted into, she would be the one calling the shots right now, not Count Bleck. L takes a moment to be grateful for that fact. As surly and unapproachable as the Count is, he seems to know what he is doing, even if L is certain he hasn’t shared even half of his plan with his subordinates. A world, or part of a world, ruled by Bleck might not be so bad, at least in comparison to Mimi, who would probably try to bury continents in glitter only to demand an army of hot boyfriends on day two.
L shrugs off visions of muscled, tight-shirted men carrying Mimi on a palanquin through a rainbow-colored apocalypse. He considers asking her to shift into the hero, the man in red he knows she’s already faced, and that he’ll be facing (and beating) soon.
Something stops him.
He tells himself he doesn’t want to ruin the surprise.
~~~~~
“But what if you were stripped of your magic? If you had to rely on physical combat alone?”
Dimentio’s mask splits into an uneven smile.
“Are you testing me, my cantankerous friend?”
He's put off this conversation for days.
A good scientist explores all avenues, he had told himself, building up the resolve to go through with his plan.
It was an essential step. Was maybe the keystone to understanding what was going on around him.
Unfortunately, it meant being one-on-one with a man (if he was a man at all) who more often than not regarded L like he was a prime cut of meat about to be served on a cheap plastic lunch tray.
It was unnerving.
And completely bewildering.
Obviously, I’m testing you, asshole, L frowns, throwing his arms across his chest. “Let’s just say as a hypothetical that some day," a day which I hope will never come, "we have to combine forces. I want to know what I’m getting into.”
Dimentio crosses his legs, allowing himself to float upwards.
“Combine forces?” The jester takes his chin in his hand, rictus etched into his dual-colored mask. “What a delightful turn of phrase! Such a sculptor of language you are, Mr. L.”
L rolls his eyes with a violent moan. This was why he hated conversations with the jester.
“Just answer the question, Dimentio! If your magic gets taken out by this so-called hero, am I going to be on my own here?”
So far, all he had been able to glean from his annoying co-worker was that he had terrible suggestions for robotic weaponry (magic missiles? really?) and an aversion to standing on the ground so severe that - if it had been anyone else but Dimentio - he might have called it a phobia.
He breaks every law of physics with a smile and snap of his fingers.
The others, he could figure out, could create some kind of link to reality that matched with his understanding of how the universe worked, of the rules and laws that governed the physical realm. Sure, maybe it all sat on the far boundaries of what was possible, but the fact remained that it was possible, that he could justify the existence of this reality and these people within it by expanding his understanding by a few hundred-thousand square meters.
Dimentio existed wholly outside his paradigm.
“If my magic is taken out,” Dimentio echoes, biting on the tip of a gloved finger in an obviously affected pose. “What a catastrophe that would be! Like an asteroid whose path is fixed on a four-footed, doomed civilization.”
“What are you talking about, Dimentio?”
In one smooth movement, the jester comes to land near his feet, the bells dangling from his motley headdress giving a dull tinkle as he curls his hand around L’s shoulder.
“For my magic to be nullified,” Dimentio whispers, the words shimmering with a dangerous edge, “it would require quite the cataclysmic event.”
L wills himself to not pull away from Dimentio’s creeping grasp. “What kind of cataclysmic event?”
The jester stares at him, his mask devoid of any writ emotion, yellow and black twin crescents peering into him with an unquestionable, nearly palpable intensity. A moment later, his sharp fingers dig even further into L’s shoulder, voice lowering to the edge of audibility. “You know what they say about curiosity, Mr. L.”
“Yeah, I do,” L growls, ripping himself from Dimentio’s claw-like grasp. “It killed the cat. But what they don’t like to tell you is that satisfaction brought it back.”
“Oh, Mr. L!” Dimentio cackles, a loud, jagged sound like two knives being dragged over a ceramic plate. The jester makes a backwards somersault in the air before wiping an invisible tear from his yellowed eye. “You truly are the right man for this job. Fortune has smiled wide upon us with your arrival.”
L tugs at his shirt, trying to wipe away for cloying feeling of Dimentio's touch. This conversation is going nowhere. He should have known the creepy jester was just going to waste his time. L ignores the still-giggling figure, heading towards the door. “Next time you don’t have your magic, don’t come running to me for help.”
“Au contraire, my friend," Dimentio sits up, eyes bright. "I imagine if I don’t have my magic, you would be the first I would call on for help.”
L pauses, his hand hovering above an geometric-engraved ebony doorknob.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
The only response he receives is a wide grin.
“What are you, Dimentio?” L asks after a moment, the question bubbling past his lips in a low, urgent hiss.
Dimentio floats towards him, head tilted. “The better question is what are you, my dear? And what will you become when satisfaction brings you back?”
“I…” L stutters, edging towards the door, hands groping for the knob. Abstract images fly across the canvas of his mind, too fast grab onto, a whirlwind of muted tones and undefinable emotion.
“Mr. L!” a high voice commands from the other side of the room. L gasps, peering around Dimentio's looming form, his heart beating a trail up his throat. It's Nastasia. Clipboard in hand, her pen tapping an impatient rhythm, the Count's second-in-command frowning at the scene laid out before her.
“It’s time, Mr. L,” she says simply.
Dimentio floats to the side, allowing L a path of egress. “Do enjoy your little reunion, Mr. L," he says, words soft enough only he and L can hear. "I hope it may prove fruitful. And do give the hero my most sincere regards.”
L shivers, slipping past the jester, giving one more look over his shoulder as Dimentio reclines, hands joined together behind his head, one leg crossed over the other like he's enjoying a day at the beach.
It's nothing. He’ll unravel Dimentio’s game later on, will get to the bottom of Bleck's true intentions, will piece together this world and his place in it.
But for now, he has a hero to destroy.
got an idea i can’t get out of my head.
there’s a dangerous enemy looking to destroy the entire universe, slowly taking out the surrounding kingdoms one at a time (like the void in spm). for specific reasons, mario and peach are sent out to go look look for a way to stop the threat, leaving luigi in charge of the mk.
mário and peach go mia and are presumed dead. this leaves the mk without an official leader. in my head mario and peach are married, making mario and luigi royalty through that association (it could work differently without needing the marriage idk, but it’s a magical universe só accuracy isn’t a big priority). the toads hastily crown luigi as their ruler as a way to keep some form of control during dire times.
as for the other kingdoms: their lands were destroyed and the monarchs and survivors have been seeking refuge in neighboring lands. the mk is the sole kingdom still standing, so they all go there. none of them had heard of mario and peach’s disappearance, and are very shocked to see luigi on that throne.
cue luigi proving to everyone that he can be an intelligent and competent leader (i believe this man is a damn good strategist) and gaining lots of respect. there could be a few battles, and while many of the other rules have seen him fight, he absolutely demolishes the enemies—he’s still very raw from losing two of the most important people in his life and he’s taking it out here.
there could also be a b-plot of a handful of rulers (bowser, daisy, peasley, king boo) lowkey vying for his hand. lots of shenanigans there.
then during the final battle mario and peach do return, emotional reunion, they save the world, everyone recovers. and ending on luigi throwing the crown back to peach because he simply was not made for ruling—though everyone would say otherwise.
This is a really good idea! And there's so much stuff to sink your teeth into.
If you want to write or draw this anon, I say go for it! This idea really feels like it has a lot of potential in my opinion 👍
And yes you are right: Luigi is the more rational minded of the Bros, so no doubt he can be a good strategist! My headcanon (mostly from watching the movie version) is that he's normally too shy and quiet to voice any leadership skills - but when times are desperate he pushes that to the side and is able to speak up.
#super mario#luigi#mario#princess peach#multicolour ink answers#anyone else think this would make a good episode - if they rebooted the supershow?
Hello! ✨💜
I like posting things on Tumblr and it's very cool!! But sometimes I get lazy and stop drawing for months. Or I draw, but it's a random sketch or I leave it unfinished. Y'all still like SPM content or any paper Mario content?
Another reason why I left undercut ↓
I'm not really back, bc I don't have any finished drawing to post, and rn I don't feel like drawing again... But maybe I'll be online!!
So I've been obsessed with Beetlejuice A LOT, and my Paper Mario era is slowly getting weaker... So the hyperfixation with Paper Mario is still there, but it's not as strong as it was before. + Idk why but when I started this account I wanted to post daily or something like that, which didn't work out bc I felt pressured by myself. I was thinking that if I stopped posting daily people would lose interest. But then I collapsed, so ig that's it...
Also sometimes I forget Tumblr exists so...
So that's all, I got it out of my chest lol
Hi Kids! Since I do in fact like spm, I’d like everyone to please take a glance at my handy Tippi Chart, since there are a few versions I have in my head. Most of these are just the same Girl.
If you don’t have time, here’s just one.
The Original
Timpani classic here. When designing her, I wanted to mainly draw from the color Green, as it’s actually a pretty important color in Super as a whole— plus it’s the color of the Pure Heart she bestows. Her ribbon was added as flair, and is red because it is both easy and serves as a “Red String of Fate”. Indeed, it was given to her by Blumiere— you’ll notice that he was fiddling with it in one post. I think it’s funny. Her design originally derived from the folk in Yold Town, but since then she’s just. Kind of a Girl.
I want to imagine that Timpani herself is some sort of.. “Freak” person. She’s weird, of course, and a little eccentric. Her eccentricities are what make her fun, and if you’d poke her enough she’d probably bubble over. She’s less grounded, but she’s still human.
Early Timpani
This one’s fun. I derived her from my original sketches of her, where she had a “braid” and even glasses. She’s basically just regular Timpani but without some of her flair.
As such, this one’s quiet, a little to herself. She still holds the belief of everyone with a Heart deserves kindness, even if they’re a rat. But all the same, she’s most similar to the “Tippi” of today.
Timpani from Mario-Kun
Didn’t think I’d bring this up, did you? Here we are! You may be asking. “What’s with the nickname?” And I’ll answer it!
Her ass is just kinda fat and it’s funny.
Anyways, I tried to concoct something simple, unique, and fun. I wanted her to look silly as she was in Mario-Kun. A different silhouette featured her with a dress that wasn’t past her feet, so I went with that for the base idea. I think she is silly sometimes in my head, but her reason for existence is because I can’t exactly squash the notion of a “Canon” design. So here we are!! Timpani is Here!!
The Other One
It wouldn’t be a post if I didn’t mention Swappy here. Meet Swap Timpani, who I designed on a whim because I thought Yuri was awesome. She’s mainly in black because Bleck was in white and I think PARALLEL!!! You’ll notice the ribbon on her head. I think it’s best if it’s on her hat, because he’s always on her mind. You know? She got most of the clothes from a magic transformation, of course, and the name comes from… nothing, really, but “Countess Tippi” doesn’t evoke very much fear— so she’s just The Countess. Isn’t that beautiful?
There’s also another one but we don’t talk about her.
((Artist's Update))
(( I wont be speaking in character what so ever. Just me. Some may know me as @ag-piers , some as @ask-dimentio-the-jester , however, behind the artists between roleplaying as those 2 characters, it's just me. Firby It's been a while, maybe even years huh? I love this blog not gonna lie, but I wanna explain stuff in 3 points! Let's start shall we? ^^
(( So..much...stuff.. Lately, I have been drawing a lot of other things, being more into the Kirby community. I took a break from the SPM community due to seeing how much drama existed and in reality, Kirby has always been my #1 favorite and SPM my 2nd. Don't worry, I miss drawing Dimentio and I want to draw him again, just need ideas on how to draw him since...well I drew him in so much ways through the ask blog I cant think of new ideas for him haha.
Streaming - Something I have been doing for at least 2 years! I would Roleplay as one of my characters I've made years ago. I am always roleplaying as him in the streams. Yes I know. I'm female and he's male, yes I change my voice for him.
-@AG_Piers' Stream Link-
I also enjoy roleplaying with people there! Currently, I'm streaming TTYD Remake, and roleplay that my viewers are characters from the game! It's so fun, I'm enjoying it a lot. Perhaps one-day SPM Remake?!?!?
Yes Vtuber, I promise I'm family-friendly & not..."weird"...like the other ones out there.
I even draw in streams on Saturdays! (not rn cuz of ttyd remake)
((Of course i do! I'm too addicted to art to stop... Art - I cant stop drawing so still doing art! Simultaneously rping that my character AG_Piers is drawing. Have I ever told ya that I love my character I've made? Kirby art mostly, some original art, and hopefully Dimentio again! @ag-piers is the main account with all the arts! You can ask questions in that blog too. I may or may not draw it in the style I have been doing it in this blog! (Making my own kirby fan merch and original characters merch and hopefully soon I can sell them! Maybe a dimentio sticker even in the future-)
(( I'm even trying to do more animations as you can see! Simple, but something!
"It Has been a while~"
(( We've had some fun, silly, serious, and depressing moments with this Dimentio ask blog. It was fun, I enjoyed it a lot actually! I still have that Dimentio plush, I still love Dimentio a whole lot. Still my favorite Mario character of all time. I do miss drawing him and hope I can draw him again, not as an ask blog but just casually in my main account for now. Don't worry tho! I won't quit this blog, just a long break is all. Who knows how long at the moment because I'm doing so many projects right now wanting to do more stuff like making fan merch and making my characters something more than just drawings. I guess...and then work, but, rest assured, I will NOT completely quit/abandon this blog. I just need a very very long break. when I ever do come back, I will decide what to answer and when to answer, like whenever I have free time and wanna draw a question! As for now, taking a break! If you just enjoy the things I make, art I do, etc. You look into my main account. All links are in the above that I've mentioned. This is NOT a goodbye, but a "To Be Continued..?"
I honestly feel super disconnected from the fandoms of a lot of things I hold dear or had a huge influence on me in years past, but that's alright. I just don't have time at this point in my life to keep up with too many things, compete with fan artists who draw nothing but one subject with great frequency, nor do I really want to be a part of it honestly. There are a lot of issues I have with fandom as a concept, the parasociality of it and people like, I don't know how to describe it, but inevitably trying to exert control and possessiveness over characters in a way that just doesn't appeal to me.
There are a couple exceptions and that's enough for me. And it's nice to know that in spite of this feeling I am still some people's SPM mutual or whatever and that makes me happy.
Good eve, I heard game. So I bring forth the following inquiries:
- This a fangame or personal concept?
- What's it about? Story, characters, world building- let's hear/see it! (No upper word limit)
- What genre of game ya thinking?
- Any direct/indirect inspirations?
YAYYY SOMEONE ASKED ME ABOUT THIS HEHE,,,
First off, its a personal concept, though it IS inspired off of Undertale, SPM/Super Paper Mario, and (later on in my life) Omori!
Its about a kid named Kun (short for Kunsago) who gets a severe head injury after getting hit by a car and falling into a coma. In that coma she dreams up about living as a new person, in a new life, in a new world! Her goals are to find her parent and get back home!
This here is what she looks like! (By the way, if you want full body drawings of these characters then please don't be afraid to ask!)
Kun is a girl, She/Her. And about 9-13 years old! (I say 9-13 because she doesn't want/like to specify her real age to others.) She often comes off as stubborn and a bit grown up, but sometimes she can be quiet and content.
Then, we go off onto her friends! (About 3 in total.)
Firstly theres Tiel, He/They. A creepy yet outgoing jester who has been locked up in a cage by one of the 3 kings. (Who I wont tell about yet until I get on to the lore yet!) Fun fact: I based most of him off of a cockatiel,,
Then theres King Yunu/Yunu, He/Him. One of the youngest of the 3 kings who is more kinder than the other ones. Fun Fact: Now THIS character is based off a Lake Junin Frog!
And finnally, Sanctus, They/Them! A nervous, shy ghost residing in one of the abandoned towns in the dream world who used to work with Tiel.
Now, for the worldbuilding!
Key:
Red Marks - Capital citys.
Lightest shade of grey - 2nd Lowest Meters High. (0-100m)
Lesser Lightest - 1st Lowest Meters High. (100-300m)
Medium Darkest - 2nd Highest Meters High. (300-500m)
Darkest - 1st Highest Meters High. (500-1000m)
Blue Marks - The rivers and lakes!
Now for the citys (Fun Fact: Each of them are based on types of circus acts/actors!):
Bottom - Birthplace of the 3 Kings. (Where Kun first arrives.)
Left - Cage of the Animals. (Where she meets Tiel.)
Right - Palace of the Magicians. (Where the two meet Yunu.)
Middle - Lake of the Contorionist's. (Where the 3 meet Sanctus.)
Top - Heart of the Ringmaster. (Quite literally! This is where all 4 of the characters meet the final boss.)
Now, heres all the main villians!
First, in the Cage of the Animals, here is the twins Night and Nought! Both They/Them. One is quieter and sorrowful while the other one is loud and energetic.
Then next, in the Palace of the Magicians, we have the one and only Charon! He/It. He is a dapper fellow, although calm and polite, it has its moments where it can become very angry!
Up next, in the Lake of Contortionists, we have Damien! He/Him. Quiet yet sassy and competitive, and partners with Charon. (not specifying wether its like a relationship or just friends, thats for you to decide... >:) )
Now, you may have been expecting the final boss to apeer here, but i'll keep them a secret! You can still guess who/what they're gonna be tho!
Now for the genre, I was thinking of an RPG mixed with horror,,,
..And thats it! I'll bring up some more stuff if you want. But this was fun to make! Also your allowed to make fanart of it if you wish! Thx for the ask!!
THIS PERSON HAS A LOT OF SPM FANART AND THEY DO PENCIL STUFF LIKE I DO!! COOL!!!! and then spent a while going through your gallery lol SO UH, THANK YOU? I remember having a lot of fun looking at your art and it makes me happy to see you're still drawing and enjoying yourself!
Awaaaaa thank you so much for all the kind words!! ;w; I remember following you a long while ago for SPM stuff actually, hehe. Glad I'm not the kind of person to unfollow just cuz someone doesn't post as much of (insert thing I followed them for) as it's been fun seeing your more recent stuff, both the cool original stuff you've come up with and the other fandom stuff from things I prolly woulda never looked into on my own. Hope you're still enjoying yourself too :D
Asking you 👀
:D YAY
So anyways you guys remember that one absolutely amazing drawing of Streber that I did right
Well of course I couldn’t leave it at that could i totally havent created ocs based off of what was supposed to be a one time drawing this is totally not a habit haha I would never
So anyways then I was like ‘omg timpani and streber both almost died what a coincidence’ and then I was like ‘wait… with Kevin getting stabbed… and Blumiere falling off a fucking cliff (major L ngl)… I smell an au happening
So anyways it’s still kind of in the works so some things may change but here it is
So Kevin in this au is in the cult (he is like Blumiere in this) and so bob is his father in here (because he is Blumieres father in this au) and tbh I feel like he would be the candy demon design but with cult robes and I have a design at the moment but it may change.
So he likes to sneak out of the cult at night to go about the town (at night because otherwise people will See him) and so he does this but one day people almost see him so he narrowly avoids this by ducking into a building (candy club) where he is like ‘oh my god that was too close’ and then he gets Stabbed (like in canon)
So streber works in the Candy club and is going to work one day and opening the store when he sees Kevin like yknow stabbed on the floor and takes him to his apartment to help him out (like super paper Mario) and then yknow he helps him out and then like friendship so they’re like ok we have to meet up again
So like things are going great and Kevin thinks he’s being secretive (haven’t super plotted this part out yet so it’s kind of like in between) and then somehow bob finds out so he goes to the meeting place that they agreed on and he basically goes there (with a knife btw) and is like ‘I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but I want you to stay away from my son’ and then he threatens him with the knife really going like I won’t hesitate bitch
So then Kevin arrives and he sees the scratch on Streber’s face or some other minor injury because he isn’t actually seriously injured (yet) and he’s like ‘oh no did my father do this?’
I may or may not have written a one shot of this but it’s like half done
So anyways Kevin argues with bob about the fact that it’s not ok and bob is basically like ‘stay away from him or I will actually hurt him’ and Kevin doesn’t actually think that he would (which he really regrets later) and so they continue seeing each other just more in secret and one day Kevin pops The Question (they’re getting married!!) and then The Star Gazing Scene from spm happens (last good night together before shit goes down)
So anyways Kevin gets home after stargazing and it goes like
“Where have you been”
“Just in the town…”
“You’ve been seeing that human boy, haven’t you”
“What? No– i–“
“Don’t lie to me”
“But I wasn’t–“
“I told you to stay away”
And then the canon events happen in which streber is attacked and Kevin hears about it the next day and is like ‘what the HELL did you do’ and then the whole scene from chapter 6 and then idk exactly the timeline of this particular part but he learns that Streber ‘died’ (actually got turned into a bat pixl version of tippi) and then does that goofy thing with the dark prognosticus (but a cult version which I may or may not have designed)
This got really long but it’s still in the works so some things may change and if you have any suggestions or something than the ask box is open. Why do I do these things I am not to be trusted to create aus
What’s your thoughts on the the Paper Mario universe vs Mainline Mario universe? Like there’s the implication that the paper games are like story adaptions of like stuff that happened in the mainline universe, plus paper jam says they’re a paper universe existing in the book (id argue it’s more a portal to a paper universe spanning books unless they’re just making a progressively longer book, which is possible but yeah)
But anyways I guess main question, how would you interpret that all? Like how much of the paper games’ stories happened in the mainline universe and vise versa. And like any differences in characterizations etc.
in my head the first 2 games are for sure novelized adaptations of some of mario's more famous adventures. it's a little harder to rationalize with spm (<- has never read flatland) just because i myself can't conceptualize what the higher dimension would look like since in general mario is a man of the third dimension. but in my head i still think its reasonable to assume that spm also happened in the main timeline if only because its my favourite LOL.
so in my head it's like "the first 3 paper mario games happened, and the "mario story" series is like novelized adaptations of these adventures". and then following that, sticker star and colour splash are like. part of the same series as books about mario, but like more geared towards children in-universe. like you have these novelized renditions of some of mario's more famous adventures but everyone loves mario! so why not throw in sticker sheets and colouring storybooks or something! i do know that sticker star and colour splash are more complicated story-wise than those types of things usually are but still.
pmtok i'm sort of on the fence about because unlike stickers and paint its not really something that can be transferred as easily to a childrens' colouring book type format and it's hard to translate into a novel sort of format because it not only doesnt really follow the same chapter progression of pm64-spm but it's also after the point in the series where paper mario being made of paper became a more integral part of the world LOL vs it being more of a distinct visual style. idk exactly how it'd happen in either the mainseries or this children's book style i've been imagining for sticker star onwards. i feel like there are many ways it could be interpreted in a mainseries/"real world" sort of setting though so i think whether most people consider it canon is largely up to personal interpretation. i definitely want to think it is if only because i really love olivia LOL and found it super enjoyable in general
paper jam is another one of those things that's like "how would that really work" but like i don't think too hard of it. i've always just rationalized it as "its a paper mario compendium but WATCH OUT! something HAPPENED to it. and now look at what happened.." or something LOL. maybe peach got it as payback for M&L hanging that huge fucking poster of her in their house idk. i feel like enough stuff happens in the mario world that "random book becomes magic and the characters become real somehow" is a thing that could just happen. we can turn people live people into paintings so anything is possible
i just like this approach of the paper mario universe being a storybook series in-universe in general because it kind of helps me deal with some of the major differences in the characters' personalities between paper mario and most of the rest of the games in the franchise. i, of course, know that the paper mario characterization has a lot of merit and i draw from it heavily myself in how i perceive the characters but i can rationalize a lot of the like. "he would not fucking say that" moments by going "the writers' asses did NOT hire character consultants or ask anyone in involved to proofread" LMAOOO
as for how much of the mainline series happened in the paper mario games? idk at all. we know that luigi is like "oh mario never takes me anywhere" so that rules out. a lot of games. i think smrpg is both a prequel to superstar saga AND paper mario 64 but i dont have a source on that. we know the beanbean kingdom exists in the paper mario universe because there's references to stuff like chuckola cola and luigi mentions wanting his own proper solo adventure in his diary as a reference to luigi's mansion but we have no way of knowing if luigi's mansion actually did happen in the paper mario universe 😭 in general i feel like other than the things that have happened in both universes they don't really share much else. it's always been a specific set of isolated stories to me rather than an actual full alternate world
this approach isn't like 100% perfect of course but when i'm talking about mario i work under the assumption of "all the games i liked happened in the same timeline so i can assume all of these characters were shaped by and have experienced all of these events" this is just the best way i have of justifying this
#talk tag#ask tag#SORRY. THIS GOT LONG#but summarizing all of that. to me sm64-spm happened in the main timeline. sticker star onwards did not but with an asterisk next to pmtok#and the book in paper jam being a portal to the universe of an ongoing bookseries is really cool LOL
I think y’all deserve the original concept for the Ghost AU, as a treat :)
For some silly goofy reason I briefly wanted to have the same general plotline... But with!!! Animals???
Basically every living creature under the sun that isn’t Human was gonna be allowed for the AU, and every. EVERY COACH- They were all gonna be crossed with one other thing,,,
It’s not a concept that is completely lost, as it got quickly reworked into the MUCH simpler Ghost AU, but I still find it fun, so if y’all want, you can also suggest a Coach + Animal OR Plant OR Insect, and I’ll draw em! If a coach already has a creature, it’s still alright to suggest with a diff one :)
As expectable, I already have an example with Radio Star + Spider (general)-
Bright Colours, Creepy Imagery, Slight Body Horror, and of course, Spider under the cut!!!
.huh. those warnings could also be applied to a drawing of Mimi from SPM.
......OH NO THE HORRIBLE IDEA OH N O
#just dance#just dance ghost au#just dance... animal au???#just dance... ????? au???#WHAT DO I CALL THIS AU???#this is why it was scrapped it can't even have a general name#video killed the radio star#at this point i kinda wanna make a tag for radio star that isn't. the entire song name#eeeehh maybe later- anyways here's the warning tags :)#tw spider#tw slight body horror#tw creepy#tw bright colors#.why do i always have those kinds of tags in the same posts as tags for things as safe and friendly as JUST DANCE#damn... lmao that's funny actually#just the irony of it. that's amusing. I am a simple kid
Week 2 Journal : The Unexpected Adventures of a Part-Time Book Seller
Since SPM, I’ve been working part-time in the operations and marketing department of a book publisher, and let me tell you—this month is pure madness. We’re racing toward a RM 1 million sales target (yes, I double-checked those zeros), with events all over: universities, schools, collaborations with other publishers, and online sales—basically, we’re trying to be everywhere at once. With half the staff. Fun, right?
Last week, we set up a booth at SMK Batu Kikir, Negeri Sembilan. We left Bangi at 7 am (the cold still kicking in), arrived around 8:30 am, and sprinted to set up the booth—displays, sales counters, and a lucky draw booth. Then, I was thrown into the Purchasing Counter. Now, you might think this is a simple “scan and pay” situation. Nope. Not even close.
Here’s the drill: Students had to remember their student IDs and passwords, which led to a lot of blank stares and “Eh, I think my ID starts with 7?” Then, they had to choose a book, and I had to help them buy it through this unnecessarily complicated website (Book Capital). Started from registering their account, then input their details, and lastly confirm their purchases… and voilà! After 5-8 minutes of clicking through endless screens, the book was theirs. Did I mention we had over 500 students? I didn’t get to eat a proper meal all day. At one point, I was daydreaming about nasi lemak while keying in student details.
But here’s where things got interesting: 75% of the students chose Hamka’s books. Yes, Hamka—the legendary writer, scholar, and national hero. And let me tell you, I did not expect teenagers to be all over his works. I mean, I figured they’d go for the romance novels (which are flying off the shelves), but nope. Turns out, our promoters had hyped Hamka up, and the students wanted to learn more about him.
Naturally, I had to ask. “Have you read Hamka before?” Most said no, but they were intrigued after hearing about his life. They could borrow the novels from friends, but Hamka’s books? Limited edition. Rare. Unique. Some of them even said they’d heard Hamka played a part in Malaysia’s independence and handled debates with the Mufti of Johor back in the day (1958). Imagine that—teens today appreciating Hamka’s wisdom and values over quick-fix love stories!
So yeah, while I was starving and overwhelmed by the line of students, I couldn’t help but feel proud. Amid the chaos and my lack of hungriness, there was a spark of hope for the future generation and literature. These kids may just surprise us after all.
