May: wow, this really was my first public piece of Papa Louie art, huh. i was so proud of it when i showed it off on tumblr the first time... i don't like it as much anymore. for one, the office wall color is wrong.... i still can't believe Papa Louie was what got me out of art block, but god, i'm glad it did. i don't think i've drawn this much before, and even though the community's tiny, i'm glad to give back as much as i can. anyways, i said something like "it's so funny that people think they're either super married or divorced as hell" on the same post. i still think that, and it's defos funny as hell, but i've grown a kind of appreciation towards the ship as well. like yeah, you go girls, we love that extra slow burn with so many road bumps on the way! wow. that's a whole year of stuff... and that's defos a lot! i think i'm really happy with what i drew this year.... i don't know what was in my water the last few years but my art highlights felt really.... miserable? for some reason. i mean, yeah, i didn't do a lot of what i had planned (GOE ANIMATIC IM SORRY) but i can see that i've done just as much with my hands anyways, so like, who cares? plus, i always have next year... that's coming in 3 hours, oh god- so, maybe i won't be too hard on myself for not fulfilling my goals... like, i kinda glossed over it, but i did sell my designs for money, and that's like, really impressive! so many people around me buy and sell their art stuff already, so i guess i didn't really register it as something to be proud of... but doing that shit (making, and marketing) is hard!! so like, it's a wow moment for me!

Alright so given that I'm (hopefully) finally done with school, it's time to focus on my writing a little bit more, and that means putting more care into running this blog, as well as working on some longer term porjects that I may or may not eventually share on here too (but are far than ready to be released to the world as of right now). This is why I've decided to give little previews of the things I've been working on lately and that I wanna eventually post on here. I believe this will be a way for me to motivate myself and keep track of what I achieve, and who knows, it might help lure some potential readers in (please please please leave comments and reblog my stuff if I've successfully lured you in and you like what you read, it means so much). Anyway, without further ado, here's what you can expect for me this year:

NCT FRAT AU I think we all agree that NCT are the frat boys of the kpop industry, however the idea of writing about it was sparked by @smileysuh's frat au (find it here). This series is going to be written with OCs, simply because I have ideas for everyone to be kinda linked, and it's going to be too confusing if I don't give names to the boys' s/o. Here's the ideas I have so far:

Taeyong - Shy and nervous Taeyong who's absolutely whipped for one of the techs who is working on the dance squad's show

Johnny - When he meets someone who's as witty as he is, Johnny makes it his mission to find a way to fluster them

Yuta - Sweet barista Yuta takes care of someone he barely knows at a frat party (sounds lame but it won't be)

Doyoung - Theatre kid Doyoung falls in love with the person playing his love interest in the theatre club's production

Ten - Fuckboy Ten had someone in his bed after a frat party and didn't do anything? You're kidding, right?

Jaehyun - There's no way the football player will end up with his childhood best friend who also happens to be a cheerleader, right? Like come on, that's too cliché... right?

Lucas - Gets jealous when he sees his fwb all over someone else after they've been ghosting him for a while (definitely gonna be 18+)

Mark - Music major Mark goes on a blind date set by Haechan that goes a lot better than he would've expected (this is going to be cheesy I'm warning you)

Xiaojun - Art student Xiaojun helps one of the other art majors to derive from the classical rules and free their creativity, no matter what other artists might say (this is kinda based on Nevertheless but also not at all)

Jeno - When cold boy Jeno is seen smiling and chatting with someone outside of his frat friends, rumors start spreading about a potential new couple (for my besties to lovers enthusiasts)

Haechan - Gets offended when his friend pretends to be annoyed by him when in public when in reality they're just as hyper as he is (I don't know how else to explain it you'll have to trust me on this)

ATEEZ Somehow I don't have that many plans for my ult group, however I do get new ideas almost every single time they post something so be ready for that I guess. As for now though:

Deadly Class AU: I only published one part, but I have a few more things to say about that au, especially since Halazia Seonghwa has the exact energy I imagined for the Deadly Class Seonghwa I wrote about. I have a few things already written, but they need a bit more work before they're published. I can however say that Yeosang and Hongjoong will also be part of that au.

I have a vague idea for a Rich Boy series with Ateez, and I'm thinking of maybe writing one shots based on songs for this series? I wouldn't be making OCs this time but they're kind of all gonna be in the same universe. Also the songs I have so far are Fools by Troye Sivan, Black Eye by Vernon and maybe Shout Out by Enhypen, but the concept might change, I'm not sure

The whole 30 minutes album preview live or whatever that was did give me ideas for an au that would take place within the Ateez lore, but given that one of my long term project is already (very) loosely based on their lore, I'm not sure if I'm gonna go through with it. Maybe I'll just write a Yeosang one shot relating to the live's sorta hidden pov

SEVENTEEN As a fairly new Carat, I do know I wanna write about them (especially Vernon and Seungcheol as of right now) but I don't feel like I know them well enough yet to write about them if that makes sense? So what I'm trying to say I guess is keep your eyes peeled for that, but I don't know when it will actually happen. I do however have something written that include Jeonghan and Seungcheol, though it's not about them.

And finally, I have a few ideas that I'm going to keep quiet for now, but they include a mix of idols, and also a Stoner line that my bestie and I made for each group we stan, so keep an eye out for those!

I really hope I'll be able to keep up with writing this year, but please keep in mind that I also have a full time job that is sometimes quite demanding energy wise, so I might not be as disciplined as I wanna be. Also, if any of these inspire you or if you have other ideas for the groups I've mentionned or other groups, let me know! (fair warning that I most likely Will Not write for anyone born after 2001 though) Also, keep in mind that some of these are going to be 18+, and most of them are going to contain strong language or mature topics, so do not interact if it isn't your cup of tea. I try to make sure that everything I post contains the proper warnings, so don't come at me if you read something you shouldn't/don't wanna be reading

hello mr s! i was just wondering, as someone who organizes their blog, what is the most satisfying thing in running a fanblog for you? i've been toying with the idea of opening up my own sideblog, but i get caught up in the minutia of tagging and organizing instead of just reblogging everything in sight, lol.

i know i can just not tag stuff and let it be a collective mishmash of my interests, but as someone who also likes to hoard usernames it feels like a waste if i don't make use of those as well, y'know?

tl;dr: do u (or anyone else willing to share) have any advice for setting up your own public digital journal?

This is a really interesting question that I've not thought about before! So, thanks for the ask 😘

But, first off, I have to say, if you wanna make a sideblog: do it!!

You don't have to tag anything, like you said. And I wouldn't feel bad about not tagging things if you could help it at all. It's your blog, your rules. Hell, half the time Tumblr's tags don't work anyway, so what's the difference? It's not like other social media where tags can drive discovery. In my experience, tags don't really do much. Moreso, I find that reblogs change who sees your posts, not how you tag or don't tag them. And lots of people change their usernames all the time, so I don't see a problem with not tagging there either. I would just get out there and do it!

But, since you asked:

I think the most satisfying thing, to me, about organizing my blog is when something comes up that reminds me of something I've seen before in fandom and because I tag my blog the way I do, I can go back and find exactly what I was looking for. (Even if it sometimes is a longer process with Tumblr's broken search function, lol).

What I mean is, for example, when I get an ask that reminds me of a piece of fan art I've seen floating around, so I can go back through my tags to find it, and then I can link the ask back to the fan art directly. I just find that satisfying. It scratches an inch in my brain to connect the dots.

However, I will say, I'm also a very organization oriented guy, so I can't really imagine running a blog any other way, y'know? This is how my brain works. I tag because I like organizing things, keeping it all neat and orderly. I write the way I do because I overexplain and get lost in detail rather than seeing the overall big picture.

As far as satisfying things about running a fan blog--generally, with organization aside--is the outlet and joy it provides me with.

This blog is a creative outlet, it let's me express and explore a lot of stuff through my own writing and through interacting with other writers' or artists' or whoevers' stuff. I love these characters, these people, so why wouldn't I want to spend more time with them, considering what they would do in any situation I could concieve of? Of course, too, I enjoy making stuff. I know I'm a workaholic, but I also feel like I just have a large appetite for creative exercise. I write. I draw. I sculpt. I like fashion. I curate playlists religiously. I take photos. I like having projects and churning out stuff more than I like having finished projects. The journey is where it's at to me, I don't really give a fuck about the polished, finished outcome. So, it's nice to have different ideas going from fics to asks to drabbles. It's great to have a place for my thoughts. And it's very rewarding to have input from other passionate people, too!

There's joy in fan blogs, too. I said it above, but there's all this input from other passionate people that I adore. That's magic to me. Not to mention, where else can I see tons and tons of pieces of art and millions and millions of words about the same characters finding each other again and again? That is incredible, and I will eat it up. There can be drama, yeah, but with some procuring, it's just a fuck ton of love. I love these characters. I love these people. I love seeing everyone share that.

And advice...

I would just dive in.

If you do feel like you want to tag but aren't totally sure, keep it simple so it's easy. You don't have to be exhaustive--remember that this is all fleeting and flexible. As easy as it is to fall in love with characters and people, it is to fall out of love. Your tags don't have to stay the same. Your username can change. You're not obligated to stay in the same fandom forever. You don't need to create to be in fandom, reblogs and admirers are just as important. The whole point is enjoyment. If you're not enjoying your experience, do what it takes to change that and make it good again. There's no money in fandom, it's not a job or an obligation, it's playtime, as unserious as making friends on the playground because you both like dinosaurs and your favorite colors are red and blue and those colors look good next to each other. Just enjoy.

I think my issue, above all, is that others see shit like that get discouraged. You just have to see @enevera who now says they won't put art in the next chapter of their fic. And vera is a very good painter, way better than I am obviously, something I would consider great art. Because it puts people down who wanna share stuff that gives them joy, for no reason other than being a mean person.

And idk, doing it on a wildly popular social media site like tiktok is not the same to me as going too discord and telling your friends that you dont like it. Things Yizhan Made Me Do

It's BXG Day today! 🐢💛

To commemorate the occasion, I thought of making a list of 13 out-of-character things that I've done since falling into the fandom. (OK I'm a bit late I meant to do this sooner, the day is ending soon in a couple of hours).

1. Start a blog

And a public one, no less. I had a blog when I was in my teens but that was private, like a personal diary. My day job already involves writing so off-work I would usually like to indulge in mindless activities. Now, here I am, maintaining a Yizhan blog. I have not even used Tumblr prior to this but I'm enjoying it now, rambling about our fav boys. Writing is not a chore if it's about them.

2. Join a fandom

I joined a boy band fan club once upon a time, some 15 years ago, but I was never as invested in it as I am now with Yizhan. Back then it was just buying some merch, attending their concert/autograph sessions, listening to their songs. Apart from work, dog mum duties, personal relationships, other hobbies like kombucha brewing, most of my free time is now spent on the fandom. My Netflix account is crying. There is just so much to do and catch up on (I'm not complaining). I also enjoy interacting with and learning from other bloggers here. Antis are no fun and some industry news/developments/hate messages are upsetting but ultimately, you curate your own fandom experience. And I choose positivity and rationality.

3. Indulge in RPS

I don't ever 'ship'. What is 'ship'? 😆 I was always a dutiful audience, just enjoying whatever drama series and moving on after that. I started with CQL like most people and I didn't even notice/like GGDD until much later. Didn't even set out to 'ship' anyone but now I'm a self-professed turtle. SZD is SZD, and anyone can see something special between them if you keep an open mind. I wrote about my SZD reasons here previously. That said, GG & DD are individuals, each with their own successful careers. They come first, the ship comes second. That I'm very clear of.

4. Use Chinese apps

Gosh, my phone and tablet are now full of Chinese apps. I used to have only WeChat cos I needed it for work but now I have Weibo, Oasis, Douyin, WeTV, MangoTV, Youku, etc. Some of them are not even available in the app store so I had to find alternative sources to download them. haha..I even have paid membership for some of these apps. And now, browsing Weibo daily becomes a routine. If you wish, you can just get stuck browsing Weibo for a long long time. It's entertaining.

5. Read fan fic

I only started about 6 months ago but now I'm hooked and fics are largely the only thing I read these days, apart from news. But I only read Yizhan or WangXian fics (p.s. calling for fic recs of other pairings!) I know some might have different feelings about fan fics but to me, I really just see them as fiction, with characters (and sometimes traits) bearing similarities to GGDD. Similarly, I separate the platform from the incident so I have no problems going to A03 despite GG's incident. I just enjoy seeing the characters named XZ/WYB having happy endings in many different timelines and universes. While most of the fics I read are explicit (by design), I don't use them as tools to play out certain fantasies or to think of GGDD in a sexual manner. In fact, I really hate fics that have little substance and just go into the explicit parts without plot development. I like those with interesting premises too, like one I read recently where XZ is a serial killer and WYB is a police officer investigating the case but also in love with him. I do have plans to share my list of fav fan fics some time down the road so keep an eye out for it!

6. Willingly read Chinese

Yes, Chinese may be my mother tongue but I don't use it much in daily living unless I have to. I also find it tedious to read Chinese cos the characters are just so squashed together. If I have a choice, I will always pick English. But now, I read so much Chinese from my daily weibo browsing. I even read fan fics in Chinese! Who am I? On the plus side, I think my Chinese comprehension and translation skills improved. I also picked up some internet lingo used by Chinese netizens, which are pretty interesting like doi, 🐮🍺, 🖍. My all-time fav is yyds.

7. Act like a cougar

In real life, I have always maintained that younger men are childish. At least those I have encountered. But look at me now, fangirling over two younger men (I am closer in age to GG, but still..). I even jokingly call them my 'China Boyfriends'. I look at them very respectfully most of the time.

8. Buy merch

Seriously, once you start, you can't stop. At least that was what happened to me, although I'm still quite selective when it comes to supporting their endorsements. I usually go for consumables like food, cosmetics vs collectibles cos I'm more practical. Also, GG says to support their merch within reasonable means so that's what I'm doing. Just buying things that I'm interested to try and not because it has their faces or names slapped on it. In a way, this suits me cos I like trying new brands and stuff anyway.

9. Keeping a Yizhan archive

Photos, weblinks, videos, songs, fan fics list..my phone is full of these things now. I think my Yizhan photo gallery is only second to the folder with my dogs' pictures. But how can you resist when we are blessed with new pics of them almost every week?

10. Camp for livestreams

I'm lucky I live in the same time zone as the boys so I don't have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning just to watch something. But that's the thing, being in the same time zone sometimes make me feel like I HAVE to watch that thing live because, why not? Why wait? Not shy to admit that I once watched a live programme in the middle of work but I made sure I finished what needed to be done. I think so long as we don't let these livestream schedules run our lives, there's no harm in camping for them.

11. Watch c entertainment

I am one of those who used to pass over Chinese productions, simply because it's a Chinese production. Not in a scoffing manner but I'm just genuinely not interested in them nor the celebs. I was more of a US/UK production kind of person, occasionally Korean/Japanese. Now, I'm learning to enjoy them although I just watch those with GGDD in them. No energy to follow other Chinese celebs anyway. The other programme I'm contemplating watching even if it doesn't have them in it is Who's the Murderer (GG was only in one of the cases) cos I like the premise. On the flip side, now my sis and partner keep making fun of me cos to them, all I do now is "watch China shows". That is so not true. Or is it?

12. Write fan mail

I wrote a letter to GG once. A long-ass letter. I hope he read it. That's all I'm gonna say. 🙈 hahahahaha

13. Desire to visit China

China was never on my list of to-visit places. Just wasn't interested. I have been to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou a few times in the past for work but even then, I never felt the urge to revisit for leisure. Now, I wanna visit GG and DD's home town, visit Chongqing to see the graffiti wall with Bobii Zanbii on it, eat mala hotpot and try out their sauce recipe, attend BXG events, dine at the CQL restaurant... Watching TTXS also made me realise that there are many beautiful places in China with natural landscapes and all that. I used to be clouded by my disdain for the regime and some behaviour of its citizens but now, I recognise that the country is separate from the regime or a smaller group of poorly behaved citizens. China is a beautiful country and I would love to visit some day. I will fly over immediately on my own if someone gives me tix to ADLAD!!

1. Your favorite fic that you’ve written (or just one you want to give a shout out to).

You don't pick between your children, even the ones made by request! Jokes aside, my favorite fics are the first one I ever made in English (Befriending the Enemy, it's mostly Undyne and Papyrus talking). The other is Key Choices (brief take on Kris and the Red Soul where neither of them are evil).

2. Your favorite fic title that you’ve come up with.

I'm not very original with titles. Key Choices because it's like... Key as in important decision, but it's also referring to literal piano keys. There's also RecordsOfOurOwn which was like writing a fever dream except?? Some people liked it????

3.  How do you get inspiration to write?

I'm so impulsive I do not have a specific way to get inspired. Sometimes I play with tropes or stuff I see in fanon that I wanna give a twist to (Papyrus being "naive", Frisk keeping the ability to Save a secret, Kris and/or the red soul being evil...). Besides that, for romance I base it a little on things I've experienced myself in my relationships.

4.  Your favorite genre/subgenre of fic to write.

Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, I accidentally write humor sometimes, and character studies are fun lol.

5.  Do you have other hobbies?

Drawing (black and white in traditional, i do digital art rarely) and singing (I used to be part of a choir, while I don't sing in public anymore i like to do it on occasions). I used to be more into learning languages (English, Chilean Sign Language, Russian) but college takes a lot of time from me.

6.  A fun fact about you that a lot of people may not know.

while objectively that complicated/messy/aggressive type shit is their Brand, i would still like to keep things soft and gentle and Nice. that stuff is Not Impossible w these two ofc. it’s... tricky, but def possible. and i wanna achieve That. a getting together that is soft, hesitant, shy, and puts a heavy emphasis on Both of these men’s inexperience wrt romance and sex (that. is. my.
